#2 What is this neocon warmongering?

The whole point of Turkey being in NATO is so that we can flank Russia and present them with two avenues of invasion. This reads like a temper tantrum. Which I've found educated people are all too frequently prone to engage in.

#3 We (thought we) needed bases in Turkey in 1960s for Jupiter missiles and U2 flights. Not necessary now. The question often comes up "Do we still have nukes at Incirlik?" The answer(s) are lots of hemmin and hawin and soft soap. Time to leave and take the toilet paper and door knobs when we go.

#6 The home of the Muslim Brotherhood (Ikhwan al-Muslimun) is not in Egypt. Nor is it in Britain. Or Qatar. Its home is in Ankara and has been over the last decade. Ankara funds Hamas, which is a Brotherhood charter, and it funds the enemies of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, and of course, Israel. I sense the American military leadership supports Turkey because it fears without it there will begin the fracturing of NATO, and a pillar of the Western defense network will be lost. Realistically, if NATO depends in any way on Turkey, it is lost. Ineluctably lost.

#8 One could say that the invasion of Cyprus should have resulting in Turkey being kicked out of NATO. In a rational world it should have.

Next one will say that refusing access to the 4th-ID in the Iraq Attack should have resulted in Turkey being kicked out of NATO.

My personal view is letting them get away with robbing Motorola and Nokia is a prime example of the State Departments of the NATO countries supporting bad behavior of a bandit rogue state just because...

#11 Herb, its time to update your knowledge base regarding Turkey. Neocon warmongering? What sort of stupidity is that you're spewing. Look at whats goin gon in Turkey. Go back to the original start of Operation Iraqi Freedom and the denial of entry to the 3rd ID. The clandestine support ofr ISIS, and the overt support for the Muslim Brotherhood. The catering to and use of Islamic Fundamentalism by Erdogan. The fake "coup" that allowed him to decimate the secular military, and imprison anyone politically inconvenient for him.

Wake up Herb. Its not 1987 anymore. Turkey is noot our firend. And they are of absolutely no use "flanking" Russia in the current military and political setup. They are becoming a client of Russia - where have you been? Did you not notice the purchase of S-400? Or the use by Turkey of "refugees" as a destabilizing force in south central Europe?

#16 Erdogan’s neo-Ottoman Turkey cannot possibly give itself to Orthodox Christian Russia any more than it can keep trust with Christian/kufr NATO. Sultan President Erdogan can’t even allow equality to other Sunni rulers, however he might pretend at the moment.

Once upon a time Turkey could be trusted to see the usefulness of an alliance against the Communists of the Soviet Union, but Ataturk is long gone and forgotten in the country he created.

Mr. McCoy, if invading the USSR was warmongering, what was the Soviet Union’s plan to conquer the West along with the rest of the world?
