#3 The derailment was on Norfolk Southern’s rails, not BNSF; Buffet owns BNSF. Still a bad deal. Interesting detail: the trackside defect detector alerted crew to axle issue, but I have ‘t seen anything that describes elapsed time between that and the actual derailment.

#4 A number of years ago, a Union Pacific crew observes a bearing had burned off, so they stopped the coal train and called the dispatcher. Dispatcher says, "Stay where you are." Crew says, "But the melted axle is dripping burning hot metal on the long wooden trestle."

"Rules are rules", sez the Dispatcher, so the bridge burned to the ground and a dozen 100-ton coal cars fell into the gap, adding their cargo to the blaze.

No fluffy bunnies were known to be harmed by the incident.
