#5 Yawn. We live in South Carolina and are quite used to hurricanes. I've looked at the predictions for wind speeds and amount of rainfall. This is nothing.

#6 The 'weathertainment" complex has to build up every potential storm. Yet another of the "tropical disturbances" they have been avidly tracking is about to become a hurricane in the middle of the Atlantic - where it will affect no one but mariners who probably don't belong at sea.

#7 As of three hours ago, Hilary was downgraded to a Tropical Storm.

The worst flooding will be in low population areas east of the San Diego and LA metro areas. Also, the worst wind will be in those places. For example, Death Valley will likely get 3" of rain and that will form a long temporary lake and prevent travel in the National Monument area.

#9 In the late 90’s during hurricane season in NC, there was one that the weather channel hyped so bad that more than 10 elderly had heart attacks and died. Then it turned back out to sea a missed everything.

#10 I have always found what people buy in these 'panics'. Ice Storm will knock out power so they buy an extra gallon of milk and other perishables that need to be refrigerated ...right. Some more saltines, peanut butter and canned tuna, long-term nonperishable items would seem far wiser and if the problem doesn't hit you can still eat them eventually!
