[FoxNews] The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) in Colorado is encouraging cadets to apply for a fellowship program for "gender minorities" that specifies "cisgender" men need not apply.
The academy sent an email on Sept. 14 informing cadets that the 2023 application for the Brooke Owens Fellowship for "undergraduate women and gender minorities interested in aerospace" is due by Oct. 10.
The application on the fellowship’s website says, "If you are a cisgender man, this program isn’t for you."
"If you are a cisgender woman, a transgender woman, non-binary, agender, bigender, two-spirit, demigender, genderfluid, genderqueer, or another form of gender minority, this program is for you," the application states. "If you are a cisgender man, this program isn’t for you... but we encourage you to check out our spinoff programs, the Patti Grace Smith Fellowship and the Matthew Isakowitz Fellowship Program."
The USAFA’s email said the Brooke Owens Fellowship is a "nine-week paid internship at a leading aerospace company" and that any undergraduate who is a "woman or gender minority" is welcome to apply.
Another nine-week paid internship mentioned in the email, the Patti Grace Smith Fellowship, is only available for Black cadets pursuing aerospace careers.
Fox News Digital obtained the email from a concerned cadet who requested anonymity in order to avoid retaliatory measures/professional repercussions. The cadet alleged that the USAFA is hyper-focused on diversity and inclusion (D&I) instead of the military threats the country faces.
"It's a little worrying that we have more briefs about D&I than briefs about foreign adversaries, emerging technologies or current events across the world," the cadet said.
Fox News Digital reported Thursday that a D&I training by the USAFA instructs cadets to use words that "include all genders" and to refrain from saying things like "mom" and "dad."
The slide presentation titled, "Diversity & Inclusion: What it is, why we care, & what we can do," provided to Fox News Digital by Rep. Mike Waltz, R-Fla., advises cadets to use "person-centered" and gender-neutral language when describing individuals.
"Some families are headed by single parents, grandparents, foster parents, two moms, two dads, etc.: consider ‘parent or caregiver’ instead of ‘mom and dad,'" the presentation states. "Use words that include all genders: ‘Folks’ or ‘Y’all’ instead of ‘guys’; ‘partner’ vs. ‘boyfriend or girlfriend.’"
"Not ‘Colorblind’ or ‘I don’t see color,’ but Color Conscious," it adds. "We see Color/Patterns AND VALUE people for their uniqueness."
Waltz, a Green Beret and Afghan War veteran, pointed out during an interview with Fox News Digital on Wednesday that "it's been a tradition in the military to get letters from mom and dad or your boyfriend and girlfriend for as long as there's been a military."
"Now we're instructing every cadet entering the Air Force to not say ‘mom’ and ‘dad,’ to not say ‘boyfriend’ or ‘girlfriend,’ and this kind of drive towards gender neutrality," he said. "I think the Air Force should be worried about the macro aggressions against America that are happening all over the world."
The USAFA also offers a "Cadet Wing Diversity and Inclusion Program," where graduates are given a purple rope to wear across their left shoulder "symbolizing their position as a diversity representative" so that they can "advise students on diversity," according to a press release.

[FoxNews] A 16-year-old Chicago boy was arrested Tuesday after firing shots from a rifle in the direction of police officers who were responding to a call, authorities said.
Officers were called around 11 p.m. to the 2800 block of West 25th Place for a report of a person with a gun, the Chicago Police Department said.
When the officers arrived, the department said they spotted the offender with a rifle. The suspect allegedly opened fired in the direction of the officers before trying to flee.
No officers were struck and the officers did not return fire, police said.
Police quickly apprehended the suspect in the 2500 block of South Sacramento Avenue and recovered the rifle at the scene.
The 16-year-old was charged with multiple felonies, including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault on a peace officer, and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and one misdemeanor count of obstructing identification, and was issued a citation for high cap mag and metal piercing bullets.
Police did not release the identity of the teen because he is a juvenile.

Dr. Abdul Hakim Hakimi, the Taliban Director of Public Health in Zabul province told the media that the prevalence of tuberculosis has "unfortunately" increased in several villages and districts in Zabul province.
The Taliban health official further added that hundreds of people have contracted the disease in remote places of the province, stating that their treatment continues.
A clinic for the treatment of tuberculosis has been established by Doctors Without Borders in the province, where scores of patients are being treated, according to Zabul’s director of public health.
The tuberculosis-hit Zabul, according to local health officials, has also recorded cases of measles and acute watery diarrhea, mostly affecting children.
Although many children in Zabul have recovered from measles, several of them have reportedly died.
Currently, Afghanistan is dealing with various disease outbreaks, including Acute Watery Diarrhea (AWD), measles, Congo fever, dengue fever, and Covid-19, according to a World Health Organization (WHO) report.
While the financially strapped Taliban dominate the nation, Afghanistan continues to rely on foreign assistance, and international humanitarian aid, and the Afghan people are affected by the Taliban’s political isolation and international sanctions.

[Garowe] POLY-GCL Petroleum Group Holding Limited- a Chinese-based oil and gas exploration firm has had its canceled by the Æthiopian government over unfulfilled ultimatums.
According to Takele Uma Banti, Æthiopia’s Minister of Mines & Petroleum, the Chinese firm was issued with a list of conditions that they were supposed to meet in order to continue exploring the oil and gas Ogaden Basin, in the Somali regional state.
The government earlier this year issued a letter of an ultimatum with a list of conditions to POLY-GCL Petroleum Group Holding Limited that were to be met by the company relating to its activities in the oil resource-rich region.
According to a statement by on "Takele Uma Banti’s Twitter post "In accordance with the successive notices the Ministry has issued in the past and in full compliance with the PPSAs and the laws of the land, the termination has now been fully effected.1/2."
The Ministry warned the company that failing to comply with the ultimatum will result in the "termination of the PPSAs without a need for further notice."
Takele further added that "As long as the financing that would enable to develop the oil and gas fields the Ministry is open for mutual and expeditious settlement."
POLY-GCL has been exploring petroleum & natural gas in the Ogaden basin since 2013. On June 28, 2018, it officially started crude oil production tests in the Hilala oil fields in the presence of regional officials and representatives of the federal government.
The Chinese firm was praised as an important milestone in the history of oil & gas exploration in Æthiopia with Prime Minister Abiy terming it a successful venture for the country.
Four years later the government issued a warning letter to the company citing its failure to meet the government’s plans.

Icelandic police said Thursday they had arrested four people in a large-scale operation linked to preparations of a "terrorist attack," thought to be the first-ever such arrests in the small Nordic island nation.

The latest report of the Office of the Commissioner of the National Police on the threat of terrorism in Iceland, published last year, cited the pan-Nordic group as a threat.
“It is clear that the Nordic Resistance Movement falls under the groups of right-wing extremists that Norwegians and Swedes consider to be a cause for concern,” the report said.
