[National File] Joe Biden has cancelled his planned trip to Michigan today, ahead of anti-COVID lockdown demonstrations, claiming the decision was made due to weather reports suggesting that DC would receive 1 to 4 inches of snow. After Biden stopped working, calling an early "lid" at 8 a.m. this morning, it was announced that Vice President Kamala Harris will conduct in-person events instead.
Biden was scheduled to fly to Portage, Michigan today to tour a Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine manufacturing facility, but that trip has been postponed, with the President blaming poor weather as the excuse to stop working at 8 a.m.
The trip was cancelled before Washington had experienced any precipitation. It is also worth noting that Portage, Michigan has not experienced any snow this morning, despite temperatures plunging as low as 16 degrees Fahrenheit.
When a "lid" is called by the White House, it means that there are no in-person scheduled events for reporters. Instead, news briefings with White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki will be done over the phone today.
While Biden has cancelled all of his in-person events for the day, Harris has not. At 11:15 a.m. she hosted an event at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building near the White House.
National File has reached out to Adam Boyd, a representative of the Michigan organization known as Us Against Media, who planned to protest Biden’s brief appearance in their state. When asked about Biden’s trip cancellation, Boyd had this to say:
Sleepy Joe Biden is now using negligent amounts of snowfall as an excuse to not show up at Pfizer in Portage. Funny how he’s so concerned about himself, when there are no storms in DC or Portage today. He lets millions of Texans freeze in their homes without running water and electricity, completely ignoring them and their cries for help. Instead, he uses the crisis as an opportunity to push for more climate change regulations that will destroy the US economy and are partly to blame for the rolling blackouts. We have seen next to no snow in Portage over the last two days. The roads are clear.
US Against Media suspects that Biden cancelled his planned Michigan trip upon the revelation that peaceful demonstrations against his policies would have ensued upon his arrival.
According to the "Updated COVID-19 Vaccine Allocation Guidelines" from the California Department of Public Health, medical marijuana workers are being prioritized ahead of those working in education or childcare services, as well as many over the age of 65.
Updated on February 13, the guidelines define two phases — Phase 1A and Phase 1B — which describe vaccine eligibility for various groups "based on available supply."
Phase 1A applies to 3,142,166 Californians under the "healthcare workers and LTC residents" category, while Phase 1B applies to 5,960,528 Californians under the "food/agriculture, education/healthcare, and emergency services" category, and 6,254,300 Californians in the "over 65 years-old" category.
The guidelines also include a section titled "Achieving equity," which states that "This age-based framework will be coupled with a vaccine distribution and engagement approach that prioritizes disproportionately impacted communities, settings, and populations to ensure those eligible for vaccines within these communities are more likely to receive it."
By the California Department of Public Health’s announcement, "cannabis industry employees" are included in Phase 1A for "medicinal cannabis," with "growing, production, storage, transport and distribution" included in Phase 1B.
[AM Greatness] The Wuhan Institute of Virology, the controversial laboratory in China that many have pointed to as the origin of the Chinese coronavirus, has been authorized to receive American taxpayer funding for the next three years, according to the Daily Caller.
A spokesperson for the National Institute of Health (NIH) confirmed this to the Caller, and said that the funding for which the lab is eligible would be focused on "animal research" through at least January of 2024.
The lab had previously received $600,000 in taxpayer funding between 2014 and 2019, with the funds being funneled to the lab by the shady nonprofit group EcoHealth Alliance. That funding went directly to the lab’s efforts to test coronavirus cases in bats just before the global outbreak. EcoHealth’s broader efforts to study bat-based coronavirus strains in China received $3.7 million in grant funding from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in 2014.
The president of EcoHealth, Peter Daszak, is a member of the World Health Organization delegation that was tasked with investigating the origins of the Chinese coronavirus, and is the only American to serve on the delegation. He has been critical of the suggestion that the virus originated in the Wuhan lab, and has refused additional investigative efforts into the origins of the virus. The NIH terminated EcoHealth’s grant in April, and then offered in July to restore the grant if the NIH was permitted to conduct its own investigation.
Daszak called the proposal "preposterous," adding "I’m not trained as a private detective. It’s not really my job to do that."
Despite the global controversy over its conduct, the Wuhan lab still shows an active Foreign Assurance status on file with the NIH’s Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare, through which it is permitted to continue its research on animals with taxpayer funding.
[Red State] As RedState reported previously, Nikki Haley essentially disowned Donald Trump a week ago (see Nikki Haley Disowns Donald Trump). This came just prior to his the latest impeachment attempt failing in the Senate.
Haley’s scathing rebuke made the case that Trump has no future in the party and that "we shouldn’t have followed him." She also seemed especially incensed by Trump’s treatment of Mike Pence, which is a far critique, to be honest.
Of course, Haley has strong 2024 aspirations, and now that the media buzz surrounding impeachment is over, she apparently saw the need to try to mend fences. Trump was having none of it.
This isn’t surprising. Trump never has been one to take a slight lying down, and he’s certainly not going to be too forgiving over someone virtue signaling about January 6th. Regardless of what one may think of what happened, Trump himself does not view himself as responsible. Someone directly blaming him for that was always going to rub him the wrong way.
Of course, Haley should know better as well. Did she really think she could run off to Politico and throw fodder to the left without paying a political consequence? But I think she realized afterward that without the support of at least some of Trump’s base, she’s already dead in the water in 2024. That speaks to her judgement, doesn’t it? Was getting fluffed by Tim Alberta worth possibly scuttling her chances to be the Republican nominee before the race has even begun?
[NationalFile] Months after the 2020 US election, Americans continue to learn about the questionable nature of the vote tabulation in their states.
In Virginia on election day of last year, 300,000 Biden votes were counted in a series of five suspicious late-night ballot drops. One of those dumps accounted for 73% of all Biden votes in that Fairfax County.
As Americans reel from the unanswered questions regarding the credible accusations of widespread voter fraud that many believe led to the theft of the 2020 US election, as well as the first month of Joe Biden’s regime in the White House, Virginians have more questions than answers about what occurred, in the dead of night, on election day in their state.
The Gateway Pundit has uncovered a pattern in Virginia, among other states, which they have named the “Drop and Roll.” Fairfax County, Virginia was one of the counties that received one of the five suspicious 300,000 vote late-night ballot drops, according to the report.
This means nothing but to further confirm what we all know was widespread. The legal and electoral systems are irretrievably comprised and I just don't see how this fraud is undone now or prevented from happening again.
[TheHill] The Republican National Committee (RNC) on Wednesday announced that it is forming a new Committee on Election Integrity that will advocate for "election transparency."
The RNC said the panel will be chaired by Florida Republican Party Chairman Joe Gruters and co-chaired by Ashley MacLeay, a national committeewoman from the District of Columbia. The committee overall will consist of 12 men and 12 women from 21 states and the District of Columbia.
The formation of the committee marks a doubling down by the RNC on its support of implementing stricter voter ID laws and ensuring poll watchers are present at voting locations. The move comes as Republicans in various states look to roll back expansions in absentee and mail-in voting that were implemented during the coronavirus pandemic.
"Election integrity is one of the most critical issues we face as a Party and as a country. What we saw this past election - states undoing important safeguards, bypassing the proper legislative processes, and changing election laws in the eleventh hour - was deeply troubling and brought chaos and uncertainty to our sacred democratic processes," said RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel.
"As RNC Chair, I will not sit idly by and the Party will respond," she added. "The RNC will play a crucial role in restoring confidence in our elections, promoting election integrity, and recommending best practices to ensure that future elections are free, fair, and transparent."
The panel expands on the $30 million the RNC spent in the 2020 cycle in battleground states to try to curtail absentee and mail-in voting. Former President Trump and other Republicans railed against the expansions last year, with some labeling them as "fraud" that cost Trump a second term.
Among the reforms Republicans have alleged produced fraud included no excuse absentee voting and the use of government-monitored drop boxes to collect ballots.

The real title should say “RNC changes tires on clown car”
"Election integrity is one of the most critical issues we face as a Party and as a country.
Better do something or the RNC will never win another major election. Nothing has been done about the last election re the corruption and rigging. If nothing is done, we are headed towards Venezuelan and Saddam Hussein-type elections. No one will ever trust the election process--if we're not there already.
Predictable noise for the relentless appeal for money. Dues at the Capitol Hill Club are up again.
[California Globe] Pepper spray ban against students, $25 million achievement plan also passed during Tuesday's board meeting
On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Board of Education announced a sweeping overhaul of school security, voting to fire 133 Los Angeles School Police Department (LASPD) members in favor of school "climate coaches".
The decision to cut a third of the LASPD force will leave the school district with 211 LASPD officers to keep the peace at schools. The defunded LASPD funds will instead finance "climate coaches", community members who will work with students to improve school receptivity and address racial bias. For LASPD officers who do stay on the force, the board also ruled that pepper spray could no longer be used against students.
In addition, the $25 million slashed from the LASPD budget last year will go to the Black Student Achievement Plan, a program that will hire more social workers, counselors, and professional development workers, introduce social justice and diversity into class curriculum, and bring a focus on math classes.
The plan for the overhaul has been in the works since last year following the growth of movements wanting to defund the police and bring social justice changes following the death of George Floyd in May 2020. The subsequent protests and riots culminated in many lawmakers and community leaders bringing about significant changes to local law enforcement, such as Los Angeles cutting $150 million from the LAPD budget in November 2020.
But calls for Los Angeles schools to follow suit, led by community and student activists, never materialized last year, partially due to continued COVID-19 related issues. Many were frustrated after other school districts in California, such as Oakland, voted to completely eliminate their school police force. But constant campaigning by the groups finally brought the plan to a vote on Tuesday, with board members overwhelming to vote in favor of the changes after nearly an hour of comments by students and parents.
"We would not be at this point, though it is delayed admittedly, without the community's leadership," LAUSD board President Kelly Gonez said on Tuesday. "I'm glad that the plans development also provided an opportunity for more engagement with our students, families and the broader community."

the board also ruled that pepper spray could no longer be used against students.
I can understand letting the cops go if they're not gonna reopen the schools. Then they should fire the teachers too. But it would seem the teachers have a better union. Personally, I think the kids in LA would be better off if they just closed all the schools. Parents who wanted their kids educated could see to it themselves and probably pay a lot less than the taxes they have to pay to keep LAUSD teaching kids that the climate is changing because they're all racists, homophobic, xenophobic and deplorable. That would certainly diminish the influence of the California Teachers' Association and that would pay huge dividends for all of us.
