Boeing Whistleblower:
[ZERO] The Boeing whistleblower who supposedly killed himself reportedly told a close family friend not to believe it if it was announced he had committed suicide.

62-year-old John Barnett died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the Charleston County coroner’s office in South Carolina said earlier this week.

Barnett had previously raised concerns about the company’s production issues having worked for the company for 32 years before leaving in 2017.

According to his attorneys, Barnett had "exposed very serious safety problems with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and was retaliated against and subjected to a hostile work environment" and was in the middle of a legal deposition against Boeing.

"He was in very good spirits and really looking forward to putting this phase of his life behind him and moving on. We didn’t see any indication he would take his own life. No one can believe it," said the attorneys.

#1  Nobody believes that this was a suicide, but a homicide seems only to have the indirect message of silencing others. It is very chilling to consider that a company might use murder as a strategic tool or policy.

Four Las Vegas teenagers accused of beating Jonathan Lewis, 17, to death in attack caught on camera ask judge to DISMISS murder charges over insufficient evidence
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Dontral Beaver, Damien Hernandez, Treavion Randolph and Gianni Robinson requested dismissal of their murder charge in relation to the death of Jonathan Lewis

  • Defense attorneys have argued the incident was not a 'coordinated series of attacks' and that the teens cannot clearly be seen making contact with Lewis, who suffered severe head trauma and died a week later

  • Clark County District Court Judge Tierra Jones said she would issue a written decision on the requests but has not provided a date

Art Museum Warns That Images Of British Countryside Can Evoke ‘Dark' ‘Nationalist' Feelings
[WIRE] An art museum in England has issued a warning to patrons that images of a British countryside in paintings can evoke what it labeled "dark," "nationalist feelings."

The Fitzwilliam Museum, owned by the University of Cambridge, decided to overhaul some of its displays, something that the museum’s director Luke Syson insisted is not being "woke."

"I would love to think that there’s a way of telling these larger, more inclusive histories that doesn’t feel as if it requires a push-back from those who try to suggest that any interest at all in [this work is] what would now be called ’woke,'" Syson told the Telegraph, as reported by Yahoo News.

The paintings have been moved around into categories in an effort to make the museum "inclusive."

"Being inclusive and representative shouldn’t be controversial; it should be enriching," Syson said.

One of the signs in the Nature Gallery, showing the work of artist John Constable’s paintings of English hills, noted that the artwork can stir feelings of "pride towards a homeland."

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Boeing ‘Overwrote’ Camera Footage Of Work On MAX Jet Door That Blew Out, Can Not Identify Employee Who Worked On It
[ZH] Just when you thought it couldn't get any more bizarre or surreal, the Boeing story did just that.

As previously reported, the aerospace giant has been under regulatory scrutiny following a string of safety-related incidents since the beginning of the year (really, since 2019 when two of its 737 MAXes fell out of the sky like overpriced deadly paperweight, but let's just skip to the latest snafu), starting with a door blowing off a flight and continuing with multiple other incidents, including a cracked cockpit window, bolts missing on a wing, various wheels falling off during takeoff in at least two incidents and several engine fires/failures.

And as the pressure ratchets up on Boeing, it's becoming increasingly obvious that management is running the same type of interference it did during the infamous MCAS scandal and ensuing cover-up attempt which cost former CEO Muilenburg his job. Sure enough, on Wednesday we learned that Boeing - in a pure coincidence that Jeffrey Epstein would approve of - "overwrote", i.e. deleted, security camera footage showing work being done on a door that blew out on the Alaska Airlines MAX jet in January.

Seems a little too out of norm, given airbus and other carriers globally must have a significantly larger # of planes in the air. Especially considering maint standards globally.

Gideons Christian Group Blocked From Distributing Bibles In Georgia Hospital In Name Of DEI
[WIRE] Gideons International, the Christian organization known for distributing Bibles to hospitals across the country, is being blocked out by a large hospital system in rural Georgia because of new diversity, equity, and inclusion policies, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.

Gideons, which distributes its free Bibles to not only hospitals, but also various other locations like hotels, and jails, is now blocked from servicing the Phoebe Putney Health System, which serves hundreds of thousands of people in over 40 Georgia counties and is one of the state’s largest healthcare providers. Gideons hasn’t had its Bibles in the system’s hospitals for months after maintaining a working relationship for several years, according to sources who spoke with The Daily Wire.

The policy raises questions about why inclusion policies would be used to exclude Christians from sharing Bibles with those who are sick or on their deathbed. It also raises questions how such a policy could be in place in a place referred to by locals as the "belt buckle" of the Bible belt.

Gideons was founded in 1899 and has distributed over 2 billion Bibles in more than 95 languages to 200 countries and territories. It is most well known for placing Bibles in night stands in hotels across America with about a million being distributed every year to hotels and motels.

A source familiar with intimate knowledge of the situation said that Gideons was first restricted during the response to the coronavirus pandemic from entering Phoebe. The organization wasn’t let back in after COVID restrictions were relaxed and they attempted to resume their work last year. At the time, the Gideons were told their work was "a violation of the DEI policy and they would no longer be allowed" into the Phoebe facilities, according to the source.

The source said that the policy was "clearly anti-Christian" and that citing DEI to restrict the Gideons made no sense because Christians were being excluded instead of included.

NYC subway rider 'who shot aggressive gunman with his own weapon on crowded train will NOT be charged because he acted in self-defense', as cops say man he shot may not survive
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A wise choice.
The man suspected of shooting an aggressive subway rider with his own gun will not face charges as Brooklyn prosecutors have ruled he acted in self-defense.

Younece Obuad, 32, was arrested Thursday night after a terrifying encounter with Dajuan Robinson, 36, when the two men erupted into a wild brawl on a rush-hour subway that ultimately led to Robinson being shot in the head.

'Yesterday’s shooting inside a crowded subway car was shocking and deeply upsetting,' the Brooklyn District Attorney's office said Friday.

'The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing but, at this stage, evidence of self-defense precludes us from filing any criminal charges against the shooter.'

Robinson was shot after Obuad wrestled his gun from him during the fight. The NYPD told DailyMail.com on Friday morning Robinson was in critical condition, and it is unclear if he will survive.

Robinson was quickly identified as the aggressor in the encounter, as he appeared to target Obuad and a female companion on the busy subway, while screaming about migrants.

As concerned commuters began filming the encounter, Robinson shouted: 'F*** your kind. F*** your race. F*** you.'

'You think you're gonna beat up cops? I'll beat you up,' he said, seemingly referencing the January incident in which a group of migrants attacked NYPD officers in Times Square.

Cops were quick to note the shooting victim's role in the incident, saying at a press conference that 'when you bring a gun on the train and start a fight, it is not right. It is outrageous... that's what happened here.'

The shooting erupted Thursday evening on the A line at Brooklyn's Hoyt-Schermerhorn Station, with the brawl occurring as the train pulled into the platform.

The gun could only be seen briefly as Robinson pulled off his jacket, with the exposure of the gun sending commuters scrambling to the exits.

Gunshots rang out as people streamed onto the platforms, with separate footage showing another car of people cowering in fear and trying to stay low after fearing a gunman was on the loose.

As the footage of the fight continued, the suspected gunman's 32-year-old female companion then appeared to whip out a knife from her pocket and stab Robinson in the back multiple times.

'I didn't do nothing,' she responded, as blood visibly seeped through the man's shirt.

NYPD told DailyMail.com on Friday that they were actively seeking the woman, who has not been identified. Her status is unclear after Obuad was not charged.

Obuad was later seen being hauled away by police, and Robinson was taken to hospital in critical condition.

At a press conference on Friday, NYPD officials said the shooting victim had skipped his train fare, as they claimed there is a correlation between fare skippers and those bringing knives and guns onto subways.

'Too often, we see people enter the subway system looking to cause harm that skip their fares,' said NYPD Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey.

He said no charges have been brought and it would be up to the district attorney to bring any, as he stressed that the investigation is still active.

Deputy Commissioner Kaz Daughtry added that ahead of Saturday's St Patrick's Day Parade, they have not identified any 'credible threats' to the event.

'We encourage people to take the trains tomorrow,' he added.

Climate change: The 'insane' plan to save the Arctic's sea-ice
[BBC] Perched on sea-ice off Canada's northern coast, parka-clad scientists watch saltwater pump out over the frozen ocean.

Their goal? To slow global warming.

As sea-ice vanishes, the dark ocean surface can absorb more of the Sun's energy, which accelerates warming. So the researchers want to thicken it to stop it melting away.

Welcome to the wackier side of geoengineering - deliberately intervening in the Earth's climate system to try to counteract the damage we have done to it.
Meh. How can any human effort overcome Mars’s gravitational pull toward the sun?

You can't hear it, but this sound can reveal that a tornado is on its way
[BBC] The terrifying, destructive power of tornadoes is as sudden as it is violent. Now scientists are eavesdropping on twisters to develop new early warning systems and fight warning fatigue.

It begins with the rustling of leaves, sinister squeak of hinges and the creak of nearby trees. Then comes a deafening rumble like an approaching freight train, the terrifying screech of nails being ripped from wooden boards and unpredictable thuds from flying debris. These are the sounds often described by tornado survivors recounting their escape from these storms.

They rarely have much warning, but it is often enough to save lives.

There's another sound, however, that accompanies tornadoes that we can't hear. It is so low in frequency it is beyond the realms of human hearing, but it could offer a way of providing earlier, more accurate warnings of these destructive storms.

With winds that can reach up to 483km/h (300mph), the storms that produce tornadoes generate low frequency sound waves – or infrasound – that can travel for hundreds of miles.

Eavesdropping on these infrasound signals may not be able to prevent tornadoes from flattening towns and tossing cars into the air like toys, but it could lead to a new type of early warning system that might save lives.

SHAKY PREDICTIONS
Around 1,200 tornadoes leave trails of destruction in the US in an average year, with most occurring on the Great Plains of the central US. (Read about how tornado alley is changing.) They cause millions, and in some years, billions of dollars-worth of damage annually and claim an average of 87 lives a year since 1951 (although the number of fatalities varies wildly from year to year). According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (Noaa), 76 people have died in around 1400 tornadoes in the US in 2023 so far. At least 26 people were killed in Mississippi when a unusually long-lived tornado damaged more than 2,000 homes along a 59 mile (94km) path. In December 2023, two people were killed – a mother and her two year old son – when several powerful tornadoes tore across Tennessee. Powerful storms that, included reports of tornadoes, swept through eastern Indiana and western Ohio on 14 March, leaving at least three people dead.

Yet twisters are notoriously difficult to forecast because we still don't have a clear picture of why they do and do not form. Even when they do form, the violent column of air behaves erratically.

#4  Sounds like the mushrooms eat all the lead and heavy metals. Probably great in marinara sauce.

50% of U.S. Employers Already Using AI to Track Employees' Emotions
[Defender] Emotion artificial intelligence uses biological signals such as vocal tone, facial expressions and data from wearable devices as well as text and how people use their computers, promising to detect and predict how someone is feeling.

It is used in contexts both mundane, like entertainment, and high stakes, like the workplace, hiring and healthcare.

A wide range of industries already use emotion artificial intelligence (AI) including call centers, finance, banking, nursing and caregiving.

Over 50% of large employers in the U.S. use emotion AI aiming to infer employees’ internal states, a practice that grew during the COVID-19 pandemic.

For example, call centers monitor what their operators say and their tone of voice.

Scholars have raised concerns about emotion AI’s scientific validity and its reliance on contested theories about emotion.

#3  I'm pretty sure they wouldn't bother here in the oilfield...either the AI would go insane and go off to a corner to cry or it'll turn into Charles Manson.
