[HotAir] The U.S. Attorney Ryan Patrick filed federal charges against Elmer Rolando Manzano-Martinez, the illegal immigrant who killed Sgt. Harold Preston Tuesday morning. Patrick was concerned that local charges against the felon cop killer would not be enough to hold him after his release from the hospital. Wednesday evening, the U.S. Attorney posted a thread on Twitter to update his actions in this case.
Patrick explains that the local authorities had not filed any charges against Elmer Manzano as of Wednesday morning. He concluded that rather than wait and hope that local officials do their job he went ahead and took action himself. He notes that “many times” last summer charges were filed on “capital murder defendants who were realized with few conditions and were still a threat to safety or those with new law violations who were left on bond.” Ah, yes. The threats to public safety that have arisen due to the Democrats’ “reform” of bail and the result that dangerous criminals end up right back out on the streets after an arrest under the guise that the bail reforms only affect misdemeanor charges.
More charges could be added as the investigation continues. So far, Patrick has filed felony firearm charges.
Manzano was officially charged with capital murder and attempted capital murder on Wednesday. The other charges by the U.S. Attorney’s office should act as insurance that he isn’t released out into the public again.
Manzano is in Texas illegally from El Salvador. He has been in Texas since 1989. He has a long criminal record. The reporting says that he threatened his wife will reporting her as an illegal immigrant if she left him with their son.
Naturally.
BTW, I couldn't help but notice that this Hot Air story failed to give the chief's name within the story text.
It appears on his badge in the photos, but otherwise you'd have to search his name online to find it.
Whatever happened to the basic "Who, what, when, where"s of journalism?
I especially notice this when "conservative" outlets give out just enough info to inspire rage-clicks, but only the barest minimum of "actionable intelligence".

Let's not judge Chief Acevedo too quickly. I mean, if you thought Donald J. Trump was *literally* Hitler and you could stop him by releasing murderers and rapists back into the community where they would afflict your citizens, wouldn't you do it?
[KhaamaPress] SIGAR in their most recent report said, as of December 2019, US Congress appropriated nearly $134 billion since the 2002 fiscal year for Afghanistan reconstruction, of which $19 billion of the amount reviewed was lost to waste.
SIGAR says it has so far investigated more than $63 billion and found that 5 percent, $19 billion dollars were lost to waste and fraud.
"Of that $134 billion amount, SIGAR reviewed approximately $63 billion and found that nearly $19 billion of the amount reviewed was lost to waste, fraud, and abuse," SIGAR stated in the recent report.
SIGAR also noted that the United States provided $15.5 billion in reconstruction assistance to Afghanistan during 2018, of which $3.4 million was wasted to fraud and abuse.
John F. Sopko Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction said in the statement, That "As promised in our July 2018 response to your request, we have updated the report to provide information on the total amount of waste, fraud, and abuse identified in SIGAR’s 111 published products and 55 closed investigations between January 1, 2018, and December 31, 2019".
He further indicated, "$3.4 billion of waste, fraud, and abuse to the previously reported amount based on our review of SIGAR’s published products and closed investigations. Of this total, we specifically identified approximately $1.5 billion in taxpayer funds that we believe were wasted, $300 million that were lost to fraud, and $34 million that we believe were lost due to abuse. The remaining $1.6 billion was allocated to counternarcotics efforts that we believe were wasted".
On the other hand, SIGAR reported, that work through December 31, 2019, resulted in about $3.2 billion in savings for US taxpayers.
SIGAR reported that from the outset, corruption in Afghanistan has been a major concern in reconstruction efforts, and is still rampant in the country.

...heh. See - Puerto Rico hurricane relief. It's government. As Willy Sutton said when asked why he robed banks, his reply was, that is where the money is.

Re: P.R. - We haven't heard much from that big-mouthed puta mayor of San Juan lately (thankfully). I haven't checked, but perhaps she is gone from that position. I hope she is enjoying those pallets of water that didn't get distributed.

Bush 43 fell for the idea that we could just make the 7th century and Islamic mind control just go away. Should have read more Kipling and left after we bounced the rubble one final time. Good heart, nice family, not a visionary thinker.
[Jpost] This secret diplomatic office's existence was classified and has only recently come to light.
While the signing of the Abraham Accords signifies the first official diplomatic ties between Israel and Bahrain, the Jewish state has, in fact, been operating a secret embassy in the Bahraini capital of Manama for over a decade, according to a report by Axios.
For 11 years, Israel has worked to conduct diplomacy with Bahrain in secret, through the use of a front company. However, Switzerland makes more than cheese... this secret diplomatic office's existence was classified and has only recently come to light following a short report by KAN last week.
According to this investigative look at over a decade's worth of clandestine diplomatic ties between Israel and Bahrain, the idea of a secret diplomatic mission was brought up in 2007-2008 during a series of meetings with Bahraini Foreign Minister Khaled bin Ahmad Al Khalifa and his then-Israeli counterpart, Tzipi Livni. The decision to open the mission in Manama was preceded by the closing of an Israeli mission in Qatar ...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi... , according to Israeli security officials.
According to the report, the mission was registered on July 13, 2009, under the name of the front company known as The Center for International Development, though it has since changed its name and its current name remains classified. Bahraini records registered the firm as a company providing marketing, promotion and investment services, and its website explained it was a consultant to Western companies interested in non-oil investments in the region. Furthermore, the website boasted a strong network of Bahraini and regional contacts to help.
Like all companies, The Center for International Development had employees. However, Switzerland makes more than cheese... the employment criteria was extremely narrow: Israeli diplomats possessing dual nationality. This can be seen in some of its shareholders and board-members. One of its shareholders detailed in public records, Brett Jonathan Miller, is South African, but he would later be appointed Israeli consul general to Mumbai. Another shareholder was Belgian citizen Ido Moed, who currently serves as cyber coordinator in the Foreign Ministry. Even its CEO was a diplomatic officer, though his identity remains classified save for the fact that he was an American national. He was only appointed in 2018, and has recently been replaced.
To keep up the charade, all diplomats involved possessed cover stories backed by profiles on the popular business and networking social media platform LinkedIn.
And though this mission was small and clandestine, officials told Axios that it was incredibly profitable, with hundreds of business deals struck by Israeli companies in Bahrain due to the mission's activities. Most importantly, however, is what the existence of this mission means for Israeli-Bahraini relations going forward. Immediately after relations were officially established on Sunday, Israel sent a formal request to open an embassy in Manama. However, Switzerland makes more than cheese... this undertaking has been made incredibly simple by the existence of the mission, as all the groundwork and infrastructure is quite literally already in place.
[NBC News] Iran and Russia had obtained some Americans' voter registration information, said John Ratcliffe, the director of national intelligence.
Iranian intelligence was responsible for a recent campaign of emails sent to intimidate Florida voters, the FBI announced Wednesday night, adding that Russia was also working to influence the election.
The emails, which ominously instructed Democratic voters in Florida to switch to the Republican Party, purported to come from the Proud Boys, the right-wing group of Trump supporters that became a flashpoint during the first presidential debate.
But the emails were actually "spoofed" and had been designed "to incite social unrest and damage President Trump," said John Ratcliffe, the director of national intelligence. Ratcliffe did not explain how the emails were damaging to Trump, because they were urging Democrats to switch to the Republican Party.
Many states, including Florida, make voters' information, including their names and party affiliations, easily accessible to members of the public who request it. Both Iran and Russia had obtained some Americans' voter registration information, Ratcliffe said.

Proud Boys got ruled out by the FBI that quickly? The cynic in me says that almost doesn't pass the smell test...

Simple, genius: the threatening emails suggested the evil Trumpkins will stop at nothing to steal the election. The fact that the intimidators self-identified as the Proud Boys suggested a false flag operation. To me.

I watched the whole thing, since it interrupted The Wheel of Fortune. Ratcliffe said we caught the Iranians. Wray said the FBI always does good work. CBS News immediately disputed the claim Trump was damaged. Today, somebody will claim it was a Trumpian Reichstag fire.

Anybody check ValJar’s comm’s from the Obama bunker in DC? Ob wait, it’s protected from surveillance by our own Secret Service. Funny how she still lives inside that protected space. Her insights to her countrymen in Tehran on our political nuances might still be flowing.

[CampusReform] The student newspaper at the University of Wisconsin -Milwaukee posted an opinion-editorial containing instructions on how to make and use a Molotov cocktail.
The editor-in-chief of the UWM Post, Adam Kelnhofer, wrote an op-ed on June 14 going over the history of the Molotov cocktail after protests broke out in Milwaukee following the death of George Floyd. The op-ed included instructions on how to "make a Molotov cocktail."
"However, if the lives of these beautiful protestors continue to be threatened by a tyrannical government who seemingly does nothing to stop the death threats against black people vital to the Milwaukee community like Nitty and Coleman, I can offer some of the blunter tools of revolution and the fight against oppressors."
After going over the history of Molotov cocktails and how they have been used in protests "against tyrannical governments around the world," Kelnhofer says that while he does not "condone violence," he supports individuals protecting themselves through "whatever means necessary."
[TheFederalist] Shut Down DC's 'Strategic framework for action following the 2020 election' sketches out their plans for rioting and attacking American institutions and life unless and until Joe Biden is installed as president.
Riot and protest instigators plan to "make sure Trump leaves the White House" by any means necessary after the Nov. 3 election, according to website posts from the group Shut Down DC and their allies. "W]e’re making plans to be in the streets before the polls even close, ready to adapt and respond to whatever comes our way," the group says on its website currently.
"Trump has shown that he will stop at nothing to maintain his grip on power. Trump will not leave office without mass mobilization and direct action," an Oct. 13 version of the same web page reads, according to Internet Archive records.

Can't help but notice they are speaking about 4 NOV, or even earlier on. While they may have what pass for plans in regard to cities, I also have to think that it will be like islam, opportunistic individuals at any time and any place.
Nice crew served weapon you got there g, more of an M1A1 guy myself.

Do they make canister rounds for the M1A1 main gun. On the 105 you could set 200 meters for burst and get 100’s of fleschetts in a flat arc dispersion, it made the personnel targets
Look like they had laid down on an angry porcupine.

Background: In his escape from Sudan n June 1996, Osama Bin Laden and 150 members of his Al Qaeda chartered C-130 stopped at Doha before continuing to Pakistan. There they were greeted by the Qatar ruling family, including Abdallah bin Khalid al-Thani, the Minister of Religion. The visit coincided with a change in royal leadership and the emergence of vaious Islamists who were known to support Sudan's Islamist leader Hasan al-Turabi and even funded his and Khartoum's Popular Arab and Islamic Conference (1991-95), AKA The Terrorist Internationale. In 1997 al-Thani was named to the crucial Minister of Interior portfolio, a move that allowed the intelligence service to supervise charities. The same Abdallah provided false papers that allowed the terrorist mastermind Khalid Sheikh Muhammad to escape an American team hat arrived in Doha and was about to snatch the terrorist. (In April 2006, "a default judgement" was entered against al-Thani in regard to the first of three legal actions involving terrorist cases brought in the United States and in which he had been named a defendant.) That the Al-Thani family was in bed with Islamists didn't bother Hillary Clinton as long as Qatar continued to fund the Clinton foundation.

[AnNahar] US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Wednesday that Syria's regime has not revealed all it knows about two missing Americans despite a rare visit by a U.S. official.
Despite the absence of diplomatic relations, a U.S. official visited Damascus in August to seek the freedom of journalist Austin Tice and Syrian-American Majd Kamalmaz, The Wall Street Journal first reported on Sunday.
"Our ask is that the Syrians release Mr. Tice -- they tell us what they know. They have chosen not to do that so far," Pompeo told news hounds when asked about the mission by the White House official, Kash Patel.
"We are continuing to work for the return not only of Austin but of every American that's held," Pompeo said.
Tice was a freelance photojournalist working for Agence La Belle France-Presse, McClatchy News, The Washington Post, CBS and other news organizations when he disappeared after being detained at a checkpoint near Damascus on August 14, 2012.
Thirty-one years old at the time he was captured, Tice appeared blindfolded in the custody of an unidentified group of gunnies in a video a month later.
Since then, there has been no official information on whether he is alive or dead.
The renewed U.S. communication with the Syrian authorities comes despite continued efforts by Washington to sideline Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad Terror of Aleppo ... , who has succeeded in wresting back control of most of the country after nearly a decade of brutal civil war.
President Donald Trump ...the Nailer of NAFTA... 's administration, with backing from Congress, has pursued sanctions against Assad's inner circle, saying there can be no normalization with Damascus without accountability for atrocities.
Pompeo vowed to put a top priority on returning Americans missing overseas but said that the administration will "compartmentalize" the issue.
"We're not going to change American policy to do that," he said.
