[KhaamaPress] Afghan National Police discovered and neutralized at least four mines in Herat ...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns... and Nimrus provinces, said the Ministry of Interior Affairs Thursday.
Security officials did not elaborate further details on the culprits of such an act, but said roadside mines are "planted by terrorists" to target forces and civilians in the provinces.
"ANP discovered and neutralized four roadside kabooms planted by turbans in Herat & Nimruz provinces," said MoIA in a tweet. "Police are committed to protect people."

About 300 suspected Islamist militants carried out an attack in Tanzania last week, the first such raid since Islamic State-linked fighters began an insurgency in Mozambique three years ago.
The gunmen attacked Kitaya village in the gas-rich region of Mtwara and retreated to Mozambique, Inspector General of Police Simon Sirro told journalists Wednesday on Tanzania’s Indian Ocean island of Pemba, without giving more details. Kitaya is on the banks of the Ruvuma river that separates the two countries.
Police have since arrested “both locals and foreigners in connection with the terrorist incident,” he said.
Tanzania is working with regional neighbors to “flush out the terrorists,” he said, without naming the group behind the raid.
Islamic State claimed the Oct. 14 attack, according to SITE Intel Group, which monitors jihadist activity.
Militants based in Mozambique’s gas-rich northern Cabo Delgado province have killed more than 2,110 people since the insurgency begun and displaced 310,000 others, according to the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project, which tracks violence.
Some of the gunmen involved in last week’s attack were Tanzanians who authorities believe were behind a string of murders in the coastal town of Kibiti in 2017, Sirro said.
[AlAhram] The FSB described the man as a native of Central Asia and said he was working under instructions from an international terrorist group.
ISIS? Al Qaeda? Hopefully there will be a subsequent report that clarifies his connections.
Russian security services thwarted a terrorist kaboom in Moscow on Thursday and detained a man preparing to detonate a bomb at a government building, the Federal Security Service ... the successor to the KGB... (FSB) said.
The FSB described the man as a native of Central Asia and said he was working under instructions from an international terrorist group.
Such incidents are rare in the capital, but an FSB employee was killed in central Moscow in December when a man shot up FSB headquarters.
The FSB said it had found components for an improvised bomb among the detainee's belongings, together with instructions for making explosives and correspondence with fellow hard boys.
"The offender planned to travel to a combat zone in the Middle East to participate in the activities of terrorist groups," the FSB said in a statement on its website.
It said investigations were being carried out and that a criminal case had been launched.

[WashingtonExaminer] A man erecting a Black Lives Matter sign in his yard has been arrested after allegedly firing a shotgun at President Trump supporters driving by his property.
Police say Douglas Kuhn, 50, fired his shotgun at Neil Houk and his son after they honked the horn while passing Kuhn’s property in Kingsville, Maryland, on Saturday afternoon, according to CBS 13 Baltimore.
"He reached down. He had a shotgun right there, pulled it out, and pointed it right at ... and we were in disbelief. Next thing we heard was a shotgun blast," Houk said about the incident.
"We see what’s going on in the country, and I really didn’t expect it right here at home," he added. "We were rattled. I'm shaking just talking about it."
Kuhn is being held without bond, charged with multiple assault and reckless endangerment charges, as well as a felony firearm charge.
If convicted, Kuhn could spend up to 100 years in prison, but Houck says he doesn’t want him to be punished and that the honking was "good-natured."
[Jpist] The IDF and Border Police arrested a number of people suspected of throwing an improvised bomb that injured two soldiers last week, according to the IDF Spokesperson's Unit.
[Jpost] An indictment was filed against Nabil Abu Sanima, a 25-year-old resident of Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... , for violations of state security, Walla News reported Thursday.
The indictment said that the man joined the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad ...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah... and helped construct "terror tunnels." A prominent Syrian Moslemholy man in charge of the Damascus region was killed Thursday when a bomb planted in his car went kaboom! outside the capital, state news agency SANA said.
Adnan al-Afiyuni, the Sunni Moslem mufti for Damascus province, was considered to be close to Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad Leveler of Latakia... The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights war monitor said he played a key role in reaching reconciliation deals with rebel fighters on the capital's outskirts during the country's nine-year war.
Assad appointed Afiyuni in 2019 to head the newly-founded Islamic al-Sham Center to combat terrorism.
At the time, Afiyuni said the center — which was to teach and train Islamic clerics while aiming to also host international scholars — would play a role to reform extremist ideas spread during the years of the conflict.
Explosions have been relatively rare in and around the capital since government forces expelled the last rebels and jihadists from its doorstep in 2018.
After a string of military victories backed by key ally Russia, the government has regained control of around 70 percent of the country, the Observatory says.
The monitor says Syria’s war has killed more than 380,000 people and displaced millions from their homes since starting in 2011 with the repression of anti-government protests.
