[Jpost] A military helicopter crashed in the Sinai province of Egypt, near the resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh on Thursday, killing seven peacekeepers.
Of those killed, five were Americans, one was French and one was from the Czech Republic; they were part of the international peacekeeping force, according to the Agence La Belle France-Presse, citing an anonymous Israeli source.
The force, known as the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) office in Israel, confirmed there had been a helicopter accident but declined to give further comment pending an investigation.
Israel Air Force's search-and-rescue unit evacuated one person at death's door to Soroka-University Medical Center in Beersheba, according to Ynet.
The MFO has 1,154 military personnel from the United States and 12 other countries covering an area of more than 10,000 square kilometers (3,860 square miles) in the Sinai. Some 452 of the personnel are American.
Eight Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) peacekeepers died and one was injured in a helicopter crash on Thursday, the MFO stated.
An informed source told Ahram Online the crash took place near Tiran Island in the Red Sea, denying reports the accident occurred in the Sinai Peninsula.
The helicopter had nine personnel on board, the MFO said on its website, adding they were on a routine mission. The injured peacekeeper was medically evacuated.
The statement added the victims were six US nationals, a French, and a Czech.

There were at least four other accidents involving MFO personnel, including a chartered DC-8 returning US 101st Airborne personnel to the US that crashed at Gander, Newfoundland, and two Canadian aircraft crashes. There were also several attacks that left people killed or injured. Wikipedia has MOST of the information correct.

[ALMASDARNEWS] Iranian state television ... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
announced on Thursday that the Ministry of Intelligence has arrested a separatist leader from among the Iranian Arabs on suspicion of involvement in an attack on a military parade in 2018 that killed dozens of people in the Khuzestan province.
An Arab separatist movement called the "Ahwaz National Resistance®",
...a.k.a. Harakat al-Nazal, formally Harakat Al-Nazal Al-Arabi Le-Tahrir Al-Ahvaz (“Ahvaz Arabic Liberation Movement”), a busy little group at the far corner of the Iranian empire...
which seeks to establish a state in the oil-rich Khuzestan region, was responsible for the attack that killed 25, nearly half of them from the Revolutionary Guards.
The Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... (ISIS/ISIS/IS/ISIS) terrorist organization also grabbed credit for the attack.
Iranian state TV said, "Iranian Ministry of Intelligence agents have arrested Farajallah Chaab, the leader of the separatist group, " without explaining when or how Chaab, who lives in Sweden, was arrested, according to Rooters.
"Chaab has planned several other major attacks in Tehran and Khuzestan province in recent years...he has recently been planning to launch a new terrorist operation that failed with the efforts of the intelligence ministry agents," state TV added.
It broadcast on Wednesday what it described as the confessions of Chaab, a Swedish-Iranian dual national, who appeared to admit being behind the attack on the military parade in the southwestern city of Ahvaz.
State TV often airs purported confessions by suspects in politically charged cases.
"We are aware that (a) Swedish citizen has appeared in a TV programme in Iran. This is something we are addressing in our contacts with representatives of Iran," a Swedish Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said in an email to Rooters.
