Somali forces 'foil al-Shabab raid'
[Al Jazeera] At least 27 people have been killed in a failed offensive by Somalia's al-Shabaab group near the Kenyan border, according to government forces.

Clashes broke out in the town of Balad Hawa on Thursday as residents headed to evening prayers.

Mortar fire reverberated through the streets until after midnight when al-Shabaab fighters retreated.

"Al-Shabaab attacked our defensive positions ... but we later defeated them and kicked them out of the town and surrounding areas," Sharif Abdiwahid, a front man for the joint force of government troops and Ahlu Sunna Waljamaca militia, said on Friday.

Witnesses said some of those killed were civilians.

"We are collecting the dead bodies this morning, five members from one family who were killed after artillery fire hit their house are among the casualties," Yahya Mohamed, a local resident, said.

Hundreds fleeing
Others said the fighting had triggered an exodus from the town, with hundreds fleeing towards Kenya and nearby Ethiopia.

"The town is empty now. We can say 90 per cent of the people have decamped either to Mandera in Kenya or Dollow in Ethiopia," Barre Adan Shire, a Somali legislator and commander of a local pro-government militia, said.

Somali government forces took over the Balad Hawa last Sunday in an offensive launched to take back areas held by the group. Al-Shabaab took control of the area in January 2009 after Ethiopian troops, who had entered to support Somalia's transitional government, withdrew from Somalia.

The UN-backed government has been promising a major offensive to stamp out al-Shabaab for more than a year but the fighters still control three quarters of the country.

In reaction to the clashes in Balad Hawa, a Kenyan security officer at the border said scores of Kenyan troops had been deployed along the frontier.

Kenya has long been concerned about the situation in Somalia, where first warlords and now different bands of Islamic bandidos have reduced government to haplessness.

Those living in Kenya's remote northeastern provinces have reported increasing cross-border raids by al-Shabaab.

Twice hit by al-Qaeda-linked attacks, Kenya has trained thousands of Somali recruits to boost troops loyal to Sharif Ahmed, the Somali president.

Arabia
Yemeni officer shot dead in Hadramaut
(KUNA) -- Unknown gunnies bumped off a Yemeni officer in the southern city of Al-Mukalla, Hadramaut Governorate, Friday evening.

Col. Abdulaziz Mubarak Bu-Abes was killed while shopping in the city, a police source told KUNA.

The assailants, purportedly belonging to the terrorist Al-Qaeda organization, managed to flee the scene, the source said.

This is the third hit-and-run attack against the Yemeni security officers in the restive governorate in October. Early this month Abdulaziz Ba-Shrahil - a local police officer - was killed while Col. Riyadh Al-Khatabi sustained a life-threatening wound in a similar attack a fortnight ago.

Yemeni police breaks terrorist cell in Aden
(KUNA) - The security services in Aden Governorate, southwest Yemen, have dismantled a terrorist cell, the Yemeni Ministry of Interior said Saturday.

The nine-member group was planned for sabotage and terror acts to destabilize the governorate, according to a statement issued by the ministry here.

A member of the cell, identified as Saleh A. A. Al-Breiki, 30-year old, was caught red-handed while trying to plant a bomb at a key facility in the governorate.

The improvised bomb contained 1,800 grams of the dynamite, a detonator, a timer and a flammable robe, wrapped in a plastic bag, the statement said.

Six other members of the cell have been nabbed while the remaining two members are still on the lam, it added.

In the last few weeks Aden has been the scene of carnage which targeted civilian facilities such as sports and transport utilities, murdering four people and maiming eight others.

Governor of Aden said all perpetrators of the bombings had been jugged and referred to the judiciary.

Kyrgyzstan's top politician survives 'bid on life'
[Pak Daily Times] The leader of a nationalist party in Kyrgyzstan says he was maimed in an liquidation attempt outside his home.

Kamchibek Tashiyev, head of the Ata-Zhurt party, made the claim at a news conference where he appeared with a bandage over one hand and several fingers covered in dried blood. Deputy Prosecutor Aibek Turgunbayev said Tashiyev may have been hurt in a "scuffle" involving his bodyguards on Saturday. But the official could not confirm that shots were fired or that Tashiyev was targeted.

Police were not immediately available for comment. Kyrgyzstan hosts a US air base vital to the Afghan war effort, and Tashiyev has spoken out against it. On Oct. 11, his Ata-Zhurt party finished first in a parliamentary election.

India-Pakistan
CID arrests four 'target killers'
[Pak Daily Times] Four suspects were jugged for their involvement in assassinations of police personnel and muscle affiliated with political parties in the Sindh coalition government, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) claimed on Saturday.

The jugged men were identified as Bilal Zafar, Babar Mumtaz, and brothers Muhammad Hanif and Muhammad Asad; and this is the first arrest made public amid the fresh spate of assassinations.

CID (Operations) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Fayyaz Khan said the detainees were involved in assassinations in Bloody Karachi during the past few years.

"We believe they are involved in other crimes as well, as the police had been searching for them for quite sometime," the SSP added.

CID officials said the jugged men were captured from a house on Services Road near the Aqsa mosque in Liaquatabad's Burhani Colony by a CID team, which was led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Chaudhry Safdar and supervised by SSP Khan.

A Kalashnikov, a rifle, a pistol, a knife, 65 rounds of bullets and two motorcycles were also recovered from their possession at the time of the arrest, the officials added.

The detainees had admitted that they were involved in murders and robberies, while Zafar also revealed that he was a former policeman.

The two motorcycles, used in incidents of killings, were snatched from Clifton and Zaman Town.

The detainees admitted to killing Mahir Khan in front of his house in Allah Walla Town, while Zafar also confessed to killing political activist Kashif Abdul Rasheed near the Ghausia mosque in Liaquatabad.

Zafar, Asad and Hanif Babar alias Farrukh had killed Liaquatabad cop shoppe's muharrar assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Javed in the Garden area because the ASI had come to know of his crimes.

Zafar, Asad and Babar (Farrukh) had also killed Mansoor Asim in the Liaquatabad police precincts, while the detained men and their gang had killed political activist Kaleem Ahmed in the same police jurisdiction as well, using a Kalashnikov they had snatched from a policeman.

Zafar was the leader of a gang, which is not only involved in assassinations, but robberies, kidnappings for ransom and extortions as well.

SSP Khan said the CID was determined to put an end to assassinations in the city and would leave no stone unturned to arrest the criminals.

College blown up in Bara
[Pak Daily Times] Unidentified myrmidons blew up the Government College Kohe Sher Haider in Malik Deen Khel Bara on Friday night. The college is situated on a vast area due to which only a portion of it had been destroyed. A government high school is also situated next to the college, but it remained safe. According to locals, there was a security check post near the college, but no one stays there at night due to fear of thugs. They said beturbanned goons had dynamited all the government installations, including dozens of schools in Bara sub-division of the Khyber Agency during the ongoing military offensive. The locals said it was strange that the government schools and public property were safe in the area before the military operation began. They see it as a conspiracy against tribal people to deprive their children of education and destroy their economy.

Srinagar dead were suicide bombers, says Jaish
[Dawn] Three men killed in a shootout in Indian-held Kashmir were on a suicide mission to attack Indian military bases, a bad boy group said on Friday, adding that three other guerrillas beat feet.

Two of the bully boyz from the Jaish-i-Mohammad were killed during a fierce gunbattle on the outskirts of Srinagar on Thursday. The body of a third bad boy was pulled from the rubble of two houses destroyed during fighting on Friday, a police officer said.

"The three bully boyz were among six fidayeen (bully boyz on suicide mission) assigned to carry out attacks on the Badami Bagh cantonment and Haft Chinar army camp in Srinagar," Jaish's operational chief Sajjad Afghani said.

Jaish said the trio were part of a six-member group told to stage the suicide kabooms but they were intercepted by troops before they could reach their targets.

Cross border attack in Iraq
So Wikileaks wants to discredit the US by leaking documents. This particular document (recorded by the noted patriotic newspaper, the New York Times) will make clear just who's playing games in Iraq. Hint: it isn't the US.

All caps text changed for easier readability.
Cross Border Complex Attk On 5-73 Cav Ivo Balad Ruz: 1 Iranian Army Kia, 1 Civ
at 1047d, TF 5-73 reports a direct attack in the Diyala province, e of Balad Ruz, at grid 38snc 8296 2128.

summary of incident along Iraq-Iran border on 7 sep 06

this morning, a PLT/c/5-73cav participated in a partnership route recon, led by DBE ---- ----------, and an IA SQD from 3rd co, 2-1/5ia (IA SQD leader and 5 soldiers). CF LT ******** is the platoon leader. the recon was along a known route which LT ---------- had traveled frequently and established checkpoints along this route. PLTs task and purpose was to conduct a zone/route recon as joint operation with IA and DBE in order to identify key infiltration routes into Iraq and to assess the c2 capability and cooperation between the IA & DBE. ---- ---------- rode in the lead IA truck with the IA squad, while ---- --------, the IA SQD leader, road in a PLT vehicle.

Special instructions given to CF LT ********* were as follows: use main roads to get to castle access roads; the DBE castles along the border. No cross country movement from castle to castle was authorized due to minefield dangers. They were also to not to come within 1km of border. Patrol used BFT and GPS to confirm their location at all times. Focus was not the Iranians themselves but infiltration routes and the movement of accelerants. All acknowledged special sensitivities around the border due to UN sanctions and Iranian concern that us was attempting to mount an invasion. They also noted a previous article about British who also moved forces towards southern Iranian border.

As the patrol approached the Iraqi border, ---- ----------, in the lead vehicle, stopped the patrol. He and the IA squad were 200m ahead of patrol main body. ---- ---------- identified this point as a frequent crossing point. ---- ---------- identified 2 Iranians run from the vicinity of this location back to Iranian side of the border.

The patrol scanned the area with their LRAS. While moving forward to the IA vehicle ahead, an armed Iranian soldier riding a motorcycle approached the IA vehicle. That this point the Iraqi lead vehicle was 75m ahead of us main body. The IA soldiers stopped the motorcycle, and dismounted their truck and walked approx 100m to the front of their vehicle to talk to Iranian soldier.

With their LRAS, the patrol scanned the Iranian border castle approx 2200-2500m away and identified a fighting position west of the castle containing 2 x t62s and a DSKA. Within approx. 2 minutes of the IA stopping the motorcycle, two Iranian trucks moved south down the winding road from the castle and 8 soldiers dismounted each truck (16 total). The Iranians started to talk to the IA patrol, drawing the squad away from their vehicle, apparently to separate the two in order to deny their ability to leave expeditiously. An Iranian border captain linked up with the IA element at the lead of the column, claiming to want to discuss border crossing problems. The 2 groups of 8 Iranian soldiers imt d and took up tactical positions north of the column on the east and west sides of the road. The Iranian soldiers were armed with small arms weapons.

CF LT *********** called his lead truck (100m to his front) telling the squad leader to motion to the IA that they (the IA) needed to go. When that didn't work he sent his interpreter, ---------- (a titan local national hired from FOB Caldwell) to go forward to tell the IA that they all needed to depart. The interpreter did so, but returned to CF LT ********* to say that everything was ok and the Iranians wanted to have a meeting to talk about the border. CF LT ************ moved forward far enough to see the IA all off their truck, gun unmanned, with their gear off, showing pictures to Iranian soldiers and having tea with the Iranians.

CF LT ********* had the interpreter once again tell the IA that they must load up and go. Two more Iranian trucks appeared and 8 soldiers each (16 total) dismounted and tactically maneuvered into tactical positions further south on the direct east and west sides of CF LT ************** platoon column. Weapons carried were ak47s, RPKS and RPGS. The Iranians were clearly intent upon encircling the patrol.

CF LT *********** had his PLT start to slowly back their trucks up (south). At this point, ---------- (interpreter) went running back from the lead position telling CF LT ******* not to move or the Iranians would engage the column. CF LT *********** held his guys and then moved forward to try and motion the IA to get in their truck and go. He then had ---------- go all the way forward to tell the IA that he was low on gas and must return. ---------- returned and said that everything was ok - the Iranians said they would give them gas and wanted to continue the meeting. CF LT ********** then told his guys they were leaving.

The Iranians to the northwest of the column started to engage the patrol before CF LT ********** trucks moved. CF LT ********* gave the command to return fire and retrograde back to the check point 14 (vic nc 627243). The entire column was under fire and returned fire as they conducted u-turns to leave the area. An RPG gunner who had moved to the southern end of the column and was on the road trying to engage CF LT *********** PLT was engaged and killed by a .50 cal gunner. While breaking contact and returning to cp14, the PLT received RPG and indirect fire all the way back to cp 14 - well inside Iraqi territory and west of the border castle. The entire engagement lasted 1:30 to 2:00 minutes. As the PLT broke contact - Iranian indirect fire landed around them for approx 5:00 minutes. Total number of Iranian casualties is unknown, minus the RPG gunner who was killed in the .50 cal engagement.

Upon arrival at cp14, it was obvious that the IA soldiers had not followed. We are not sure if the IA attempted to remount their vehicle or not. Probably not though, as the Iranians appear to have deliberately separated them from their vehicle. Throughout the day we continued to try to reestablish observation of the IA soldiers, via ground surveillance, shadow uav and global hawk, to no avail.

Col ********** CDR 3/4id, received word this evening from the MANDALI POE JCC that the Iranians have informed them they have 4 IA soldiers and a DBE LT in detention. They did not mention the interpreter, nor a fifth IA soldier. We have submitted an rtq to the corps PAO, and recommend releasing to try getting out ahead of any Iranian claims of crossing the border (exasperated by us killing one of their soldiers).

As of 081800d: MNC-I still considers the 7 personnel DUSTWUN until we have proof of their status. There were 19 us soldiers (1 officer and 18 enlisted) present in the patrol in 4 uah's. All were from 5-73 cav. Closed 171916jsept06

Update: 041200c2006∞ 5 IA and 1 BP released from Iranian custody, interpreter to be released with in next 48 hours.

JAYSH AL-MAHDI Kidnap threat

KIDNAPPING THREAT REP BY JAM IVO BAGHDAD (ZONE 15) (ROUTE UNKNOWN): 0 INJ/DAM
REF:BAGSTAT

DOI:22 DEC 06

TITLE: ALLEGED JAYSH AL-MAHDI PLANS TO KIDNAP U.S. SOLDIERS IN BAGHDAD, IRAQ

As of early December 2006, Jaysh al-Mahdi allegely planned to attack U. S. Humvees traveling in two to three car convoys with the intent to kidnap U.S. soldiers in Baghdad, Iraq. Jaysh al-Mahdi allegedly planned to conduct the kidnappings sometime around the new year, 30 December 2006 to early January 2007. A senior Jaysh al-Mahdi commander, hasan ((salim)), ordered a subordinate, Shaykh Azhar al- ((Dulaymi)), to plan and execute the attack. Dulaymi planned to target U.S. Convoys consisting of two to three Humvees as they traveled into underground tunnels in al-Qanat area of Baghdad. Dulaymi specifically planned to use the following areas to stage his attacks including al-Baladiyat and Zayuna streets, Sadr City and Palestine street, the area of al-Sha'ab which was located north east of Sadr City and al-Sulaykh. Dulaymi planned to use fake road blocks in the tunnels to stop the Humvees and then attack them with improvised explosive devices (IEDS) and small arms fire to render the vehicles immobile. Once the vehicles were incapacitated, Dulaymi reportedly planned to try to kill as few u.s. Soldiers as possible in an effort to take a greater number of hostages. Dulaymi was ordered to take any captives to Sadr city. Dulaymi was previously a Sunni but converted to Shi'a while studying in an Najaf, Iraq in 1995.

Salim chose Dulaymi because he allegedly trained in Iran on how to conduct precision, military style kidnappings (nfi). Dulaymi reportedly obtained his training from Hizballah operatives near Qum, Iran, who were under the supervision of Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds force (IRGC-QF) officers in July 2006. Salim reportedly wanted to kidnap U.S. soldiers in an effort to send a message to the United States that they should not encroach upon Sadr city.

Dulaymi was allegedly responsible for the kidnapping of the ministry of higher education in late November 2006. Salim reportedly ordered Dulaymi to conduct mass high profile kidnappings in Baghdad to promote instability. The alleged purpose behind the kidnappings was to prevent Iraqi prime minister Nuri al-((Maliki)) from implementing his reconciliation plan.

Terror Networks
American Al-Qaeda spokesman urges attacks
[Dawn] Al-Qaeda's American front man, Adam Gadahn, has urged fellow Mohammedans in the West to carry out attacks in the "Zio-Crusader coalition" states, SITE Intelligence Group said on Saturday.

"To my Mohammedan brothers residing in the states of the Zio-Crusader coalition ... know that Jihad (holy war) is your duty as well," Gadahn said in a video, excerpts of which were provided by the US monitoring group.
We monitor your websites, we follow your signal home. What, you thought that select group of top independent White Hat hackers couldn't look beyond at the border? Be comforted that Wikileaks will never find the documentation.
He addressed Mohammedans in "emigrant communities like those which live on the margins of society in the miserable suburbs of Gay Paree, London and Detroit, or are from those arriving in America or Europe to study in its universities or seek their daily bread in the streets of its cities," SITE said.

"You have an opportunity to strike the leaders of unbelief and retaliate against them on their own soil, as long as there is no covenant between you and them," he added in the 48 minute, 20 second video, produced by Al-Qaeda media arm As-Sahab.

He urged Arabs to launch "heroic operations similar to the invasion of the American consulate in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar and the bombing of the Danish embassy in Islamabad," in their cities and capitals.

However,
The infamous However...
"it is obligatory to avoid harming Mohammedans and destroying their properties" when carrying out such attacks, he said in Arabic, with the video providing English subtitles.
Ah, but he spoke in Arabic, so the West wouldn't understand the secret message. MEMRI must be enjoying the fact that for once they can just check to see if the translation is correct.
Six Paks were killed in an April attack on the US consulate in the northwestern Pak city of Peshawar.

In June 2008, a car bomb went kaboom! outside the Danish embassy in Islamabad killing at least eight people, including a Dane, and wounding about 27 others.

Gadahn also called on Mohammedans to attack "American military bases spread across the (Arabian) Peninsula, the Gulf, the Levant countries and elsewhere...like the one carried out by Major Nidal Hasan," the US Army psychiatrist accused of opening fire on colleagues at Fort Hood, Texas, killing 13.

Gadahn, also known as Azzam the American, was born in 1978. He is a native of southern Caliphornia and has appeared in several videotapes for Al-Qaeda since 2004.

#1  HHHMMM, HHHMMM, IOW IIUC GADAHN is saying that the US + UK + WEST is too ECON TROUBLED TO DEFEAT ANY NEW JIHAD LAUNCHED AGZ THEM. The US-ALLIES may stop SOME, but are not econ strong enough anymore to stop ALL. The US-ALLIED POLS will electroally too focused on resolving domestic econ issue + preserving pol power to prioritize any absolute or total defeat of a DEDIC JIHAD.

ITS HOW THE CRUSADES WERE DEFEATED BACK IN THE MIDDLE AGES, i.e. ECONOMIC HENCE POL DISUNITY which affected the EURO, CHRISTIAN AGENDAS [includ Military] IN THE ME.

* NET > ADM. MULLEN = repor indic that there was NO WAY [realistic] THE US CAN WIN A NON-NUCLEAR WAR AGZ IRAN AS DUE TO THE VARIOUS HIGH RISKS INVOLVED IN SUCH A VENTURE. The US = US-ALLIES can certainly attack Iran, but NOT INVADE NOR OCCUPY IRAN IN LT.

Also, A-MOUD = claimed that the ANTI-IRAN WORLD/NUCLEAR POWERS HAVE NO CHOICE SAVE TO TALK + NEGOTIATE WID IRAN OER ITS NUCPROGS.

By the above, ANALYSTS = IRAN has essentially already ALL BUT DEFEATED = "PRE-DEFEATED"? ANY US-ISRAEL, etal. MILSTRIKE ON ITS NUCPROGS + NUCFACS. IOW, Iran is highly confident it will ultimately dev + prossess NUCWEAPONS IN TIME.

---------

Then comes NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN = "NONE SHALL SEE THE POWERS OF ASIA DESTROYED UNTIL THE SEVEN/SEVENTH HOLDS THE LINE". 1960's = 1980's Oliver Stone's PLATOON ["Tropic Lightning" ARDIV] = CUSTER + SEVENTH CAVALRY???

AL GORE'S M16???
