Wild boar hunters arrested in Islamabad
[DAWN] As many as 14 people were locked away
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
within the limits of the industrial area cop shoppe for hunting wild boars.

Two wild boars were also recovered from the culprits, who were caught red-handed.
Wow. They really were hunting wild boar. I thought they were just the latest version of "elk hunters"...
The hunters, who belonged to Chakwal, were freed after they paid a fine of Rs54,050.

It is pertinent to mention that, although there is a ban on hunting wild boars within the limits of the federal capital, various groups are involved in capturing these boars with the help of dogs, and then use them for gambling in rural areas.

An official of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), requesting anonymity, said on Monday that he was tipped about a group of hunters who were catching boars in Sector H-8. A team of the wildlife department (WLD) of CDA reached the area and saw a pick-up truck parked in the green belt.

"We saw that a wild boar was in the truck and, soon, the hunters brought another wild boar, which was tied to a bamboo," he said.

Kuwait Agrees Deal to Boost Egypt Energy Supplies
[AnNahar] Kuwait said Tuesday it will supply Egypt with 85,000 barrels of oil daily and 1.5 million tonnes of fuel for three years as part of a newly agreed commercial deal.

The supplies would be valued at market prices and delivered by the end of 2016 under the agreement struck on Monday, said Kuwait Petroleum Corp. marketing chief Ibrahim al-Mudhaf.

"The agreement is commercial and not political," Mudhaf was quoted as saying by the official KUNA news agency.

The deal would raise Kuwait's exports to Egypt to 85,000 barrels per day from 65,000 previously, and to 1.5 million tonnes of diesel and aviation fuel annually from 860,000, he said.

The two sides were also discussing two other contracts for Kuwait to supply cooking gas and fuel oil to Egypt, Mudhaf said, adding the agreements could be finalized within two months.

Cairo and Kuwait City were also discussing a number of oil-related investment opportunities, he said.

Following the Egyptian military's ouster of Islamist president Mohammed Morsi
...the former president of Egypt. A proponent of the One Man, One Vote, One Time principle, Morsi won election after the deposal of Hosni Mubarak and jumped to the conclusion it was his turn to be dictator...
in July, Kuwait offered Cairo an aid package worth $4 billion.

The package included a grant of $1 billion, a deposit of $2 billion at Egypt's central bank, in addition to oil and oil products worth $1 billion.

Arabia
MERS Fears Prompt ER Closure at Saudi Hospital
[AnNahar] The main public hospital in the Saudi city of Jeddah has closed its emergency room after a rise in cases of the MERS virus among medical staff, the health ministry said Tuesday.

A Jeddah paramedic was among two more people Saudi health authorities reported on Sunday had died from the SARS-like disease, bringing the nationwide corpse count to 66.

On Monday, the health ministry reported four more MERS cases in Jeddah, two of them among health workers, prompting authorities to close the emergency department at the city's King Fahd Hospital.

Patients were being transferred to other hospitals while the department was disinfected in a process expected to take 24 hours, the ministry said.

It reassured residents that the situation remained "stable" and "all precautionary measures are being taken to deal with the virus."

But the closure caused widespread public concern, fueled by rumors on social networks.

"I'm afraid to send my children to school," said Jeddah resident Bassem Ben Ali, 33.

Jeddah accounts for just 11 of the 175 cases of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome reported by Saudi authorities since the disease first appeared in the kingdom in September 2012.

Of those, two have died, six have recovered and three are still undergoing treatment.

The MERS virus is considered a deadlier but less-transmissible cousin of the SARS virus that erupted in Asia in 2003 and infected 8,273 people, nine percent of whom died.

Experts are still struggling to understand the disease, for which there is no known vaccine.

A study has said the virus has been "extraordinarily common" in camels for at least 20 years, and may have been passed directly from the animals to humans.

The World Health Organization said at the end of March that it had been told of 206 laboratory-confirmed cases of MERS infection worldwide, of which 86 had been fatal.

China-Japan-Koreas
Kim Jong-Un 're-elected'
Kim Jong-Un was Wednesday "re-elected" as North Korea's leader, state media said, as parliament met in a session closely watched for power shifts in the secretive regime following the shock execution of his once-powerful uncle.

The new parliament is expected to endorse personnel changes that observers say are likely to kill affect a number of officials linked to his "traitor" uncle Jang Song-Thaek, once the North's unofficial number two and Kim's political mentor.

Kim was reaffirmed as First Chairman of the powerful National Defence Commission (NDC) by the new parliament, in a show of "absolute support and trust of all service personnel and people in him", the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said.
"Anybody who doesn't want to vote for me go stand in that pre-dug mass grave over there and wait to be dismissed."
The rubber-stamp assembly -- the first under the leadership of Kim who took over from his father in December 2011 -- gathered after North Koreans last month cast ballots in pre-determined elections where all candidates were unopposed.
Surely they had the opportunity write in their own candidates.
Upon his re-election, "all the deputies and participants in the session broke into stormy cheers of 'hurrah!', extending the highest glory and warmest congratulations to him," KCNA said.
God himself wants to talk to you. Here's my sidearm, he hates to be kept waiting.
Kim also serves as first secretary of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, but his re-election as head of the top military body confers upon him ultimate power in the heavily militarised state.
And in recognition of this auspicious occasion let me place this tank on your head like we did with your dad and granddad.
On Tuesday, top party leaders met to decide on executions personnel changes at the head of the regime in the aftermath of the execution of Jang, who was eaten purged last December after being accused of crimes including treason.

The session of the parliament, the Supreme Oligarch's People's Assembly, is being closely watched for glimpses into power shifts within the reclusive regime.

Kim led Tuesday's meeting of the ruling party's high-level political bureau, which discussed disrupting "reinforcing" the party's organisation in order to boost its "leadership role and function", KCNA said, indicating executions personnel changes.

Wednesday's opening parliamentary session comes after "elections" last month in which single candidates -- approved by the political elite -- stood uncontested. Kim notably managed a perfect turnout in his own constituency.
Good. Because you wouldn't want to have someone else vote for you.
Analysts say the changes may affect the powerful NDC chaired by Kim, in which Jang served as vice chairman.
How do you vote, temporary NDC Chairman?
"Woof!"
Good boy.

Several other elderly military leaders -- such as defence minister Jang Jong-Nam and Ri Yong-Gil, chief of the military's general staff -- are seen as likely to take seats at the NDC, replacing Jang and his suspected associate, former police chief Ri Myong-Su.
"After you."
"No, after you!"

North Korea's leaders are also believed to have discussed plans for the future of the party's key administration department, which was headed by Jang.
Until it was beheaded at Pudgy's drunken request. For which he is very sorry. Until he decides to dip into the cognac again.
Through the department, Jang controlled not only the Stalinist state's police and justice system but also went beyond his remit, intervening in economic and military affairs, Professor Yang Moo-Jin of the University of North Korean Studies said.

The parliament meets only once or twice a year, mostly for day-long sessions to rubber-stamp budgets or other decisions made by the ruling Korean Workers Party.
"Do you know how to put together a budget?"
"No."
"Do you know how to use a rubber stamp?"
"Yes."
"Great. You're in. Don't forget to show up to vote."

The last session in April 2013 adopted a special order formalising North Korea's position as a nuclear-armed state -- a status that both South Korea and the United States have vowed not to recognise.
Do not pi$$ off Obean!
Wednesday's session comes amid high tensions between the two Koreas following a series of threats by Pyongyang in protest to ongoing Seoul-Washington military drills.
Followed by the obligatory shelling of vacated waters on both sides. Move along folks.
The North since last month held a string of rocket and short-range missile tests followed by its first mid-range missile launch since 2009 held on March 26.
I wonder what their excuse for testing their missile technologies would be if we didn't hold these drills.
Two Koreas traded fire across the tense Yellow Sea border last week after the North dropped some 100 shells across the border during a live-fire drill, prompting Seoul to fire back.
"Bang bang."
"Bang bang."
"See you next year."
"Yup. 'Til next time."

Kim last week warned of a "very grave situation" in a meeting with his top army leaders.
Even more grave than the annual Christmas Tree Insult?
South Korean President Park Geun-Hye called Monday for tighter vigilance against the North after Pyongyang warned of a prospect of a "new form of nuclear test" on March 30.
That ought to fix it.

Europe
Pro-Moscow Separatists Declare 'Provisional Govt.' in Donetsk as U.S. Says May 'Reexamine' Europe Military Presence
[An Nahar] Hundreds of pro-Russians remained holed up Tuesday inside the Donetsk administration building in eastern Ukraine a day after proclaiming the creation of a sovereign "people's republic" and demanding that an independence referendum be held before May 11, as the U.S. said Russia's takeover of Crimea could prompt it to review its military presence in Europe.

"We have formed a provisional government in Donetsk," separatist leader Vadym Chernyakov told Agence La Belle France Presse inside the occupied building.

The 33-year-old said his forces intended to control the region's airport and railway stations in order to "maintain order."

The heart of Donetsk itself was a mesh of razor wire and hastily-assembled barricades of old tires that could be set on fire in case the riot police decided to mount an assault on the regional government seat.

In another development, Ukraine's state security service said on Tuesday that pro-Russian separatists who had seized one of its regional headquarters had mined the building and were holding 60 people "hostage."

The SBU security service said it had "established" that snuffies in the heavily Russified city of Lugansk had rigged the building with explosives after seizing it on Sunday and releasing several suspects that Ukrainian authorities had accused of trying to stage a coup.

"The Lugansk separatists have mined the SBU building and taken 60 hostages," the security service said in a statement.

"Threatening them with weapons and explosives, the separatists are holding 60 people against their will, not letting them leave the building and return home."

The SBU did not explain why it was making the announcement two days after the actual raid.

The Russian snuffies have refused to allow any media inside the building and it was unclear how the SBU knew that its regional headquarters had been mined.

The Lugansk raid occurred on the same day that snuffies had also taken control of the main administration offices of the eastern cities of Kharkiv and Donetsk.

Meanwhile,
...back at the laboratory the smoke and fumes had dispersed, to reveal an ominous sight...
a Pentagon brasshat said Tuesday that Russia's takeover of Crimea could prompt a review of the U.S. military presence in Europe, which has declined steadily since the end of the Cold War.

"While we do not seek confrontation with Russia, its actions in Europe and Eurasia may require the United States to re-examine our force posture in Europe and our requirement for future deployments, exercises, and training in the region," said Assistant Secretary of Defense Derek Chollet.

Some 67,000 U.S. military members are currently stationed on the European continent, mainly in Germany (40,000), Italia (11,000) and Britannia (9,500).

When the Soviet Union fell in late 1991, the total presence stood at 285,000.

Palestinian Envoy In Prague Likely Killed By Booby-Trapped Book
[Ynet] Plastic explosive hidden in book caused blast in January that killed Paleostinian envoy, in contradiction of initial claims.

The Paleostinian ambassador to Prague who died in a blast in January was most likely killed by a decades-old charge of Semtex plastic explosive concealed in a book, a newspaper reported on Tuesday citing a police investigator.

Police had decided Jamal al-Jamal was not assassinated, but had simply unwittingly opening a book booby-trapped years earlier, the source told daily newspaper Mlada Fronta Dnes.

"It was an unfortunate accident. The ambassador was a thorough man who wanted to put some old things in order, and among them there were two books with explosives," the paper quoted the source as saying.

It did not explain why such a book might have been left at the embassy in Prague.

But past statements by police had suggested al-Jamal may have been killed by a device used to secure an old safe.

Officers investigating the kaboom found other explosives and firearms at the mission dating back to the Cold War.

The Paleostinians had said they were old gifts from officials of Communist Czechoslovakia, which has friendly relations with the Paleostine Liberation Organisation of the late Yasser Arafat.

A police spokeswoman said on Tuesday she could not comment on the investigation. The embassy front man was not immediately available for comment.
"I can say no more!"

The kaboom took place as the Paleostinian mission was moving its embassy and residence in the capital. Al-Jamal died of his wounds in hospital.

"We are awaiting another expert opinion, but it was Semtex with 99.9 percent probability. The explosive was roughly from the 1970s. It was at least 30 years old," the police source told the newspaper.

The Grand Turk
Erdogan's Former Classmate Blasts Anti-Semitism On Turkish TV
[Ynet] Avraham Krispin of Tel Aviv still remembers how Turkey's prime minister used to walk around school with a copy of Hitler's 'Mein Kampf.' Now he is he irritated by a new series in which a Turkish hero fights a religious Jew.

Avraham Krispin from Tel Aviv, a former classmate of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi only they haven't dumped him yet...
, gets irritated every Wednesday evening at 8 pm when he sits in front of the television and watches the TRT channel, Turkey's national public broadcaster.

The channel, which is broadcast in Israel by the HOT cable company, airs a popular series called "Kizil Elma" ("Red Apple"), which contains anti-Semitic messages that remind Krispin of the most annoying boy in class -- Recep.

"I see how director and producer Osman Sinav, who carries a history of Israel hatred and Holocaust denial, leads to an anti-Semitic development in the plot," Krispin says angrily. "The story, which was meant to glorify Turkey and Erdogan, takes a negative turn against us, as the Jewish and Israeli identification marks appear on the screen."

Krispin was born in Istanbul and immigrated to Israel in 1974. His classmate from the first to the fifth grade was none other than the current Turkish prime minister, who is not known as a big fan of Israel.

"I remember him very well: He came from a simple family and was an indrawn boy who would get angry very fast. He would walk around with a copy of Adolf Hitler
...late Fuehrer of Germany, founder of the Third Reich, currently communing with his pals Himmler and Heydrich. He is reincarnated every few days as a politician somebody doesn't like...
's 'Mein Kampf,'" Krispin recalls. "Over the years I learned that he hates us and is afraid of us. He believes we have bionic powers and are capable of destroying everything he builds, even from far away."

Indeed, the "Red Apple" series, which has become a tremendous success among millions of viewers in Turkey and around the world, devoutly presents the ruler's worldview.

In the episode aired over the weekend, the Israelis -- led by a female Mossad agent, a blond one of course -- are trying to thwart Turkey's ambitions to become an empire. The agent gets an order not to hesitate to murder "the enemies," and a young man wearing a skullcap, who is presented as "Aharon Feller, a member of a Golan Heights kibbutz and an offspring of the Maccabees," lights a Hanukkah menorah before going out to fulfill her orders.

The main goal set by the "Red Apple" hero, a sort of Turkish "Rambo," resembles the goals Prime Minister Erdogan has set for himself: To turn his country into the leading center of power in the region by 2023, the 100th anniversary of Kemal Atatürk's revolution.

But the Israelis in the series have plans of their own: To establish the "Sons of Zion Kingdom" in Turkey in collaboration with the Kurd separatist movement and members of the Armenian minority, and to extend it from the Egyptian Nile to the Euphrates River in Iraq.

The anti-Semitic series is broadcast every evening on channel 158 on HOT. Any connection to reality is purely coincidental, isn't it?

Jews flee Turkey over anti-Semitism
Negative atmosphere, fear for personal safety prompt many young Turkish Jews to emigrate, mainly to US and European countries -- but also to Israel. 'The Moslems don't distinguish between Israel and local Jews. As far as they are concerned, if you're Jewish you're not a Turk,' one of emigrants says.

Kerry Warns Russia Of Tough New Sanctions
Second smartest idiot in the room. My dentist's mother, who came here from Poland many years ago, complained to me that the world is laughing at us.
[Ynet] Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...
on Tuesday threatened Russia with tougher economic sanctions if it fails to back down from its chaotic involvement in Ukraine.

"What we see from Russia is an illegal and illegitimate effort to destabilize a sovereign state and create a contrived crisis with paid operatives across an international boundary," Kerry told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

MPA's guards beat warden
[DAWN] A traffic warden was allegedly beaten up by the guards of a PML-N MPA Malik Nawaz on Monday.

Reports said warden Rashid Javed regulating traffic outside Rail Bazaar near Gumti had spotted a vehicle that was parked wrongly and hindering traffic flow.

The warden asked the driver, who introduced himself as brother of Malik Nawaz, to move the vehicle that led to an exchange of words. Hearing words, the guards started to thrash the warden and also tore his uniform.

Some passersby helped the warden and the suspects managed to move away.

A police officer requesting anonymity said the chief minister had taken notice of the incident and sought a report from the Faisalabad
...formerly known as Lyallpur, the third largest metropolis in Pakistain, the second largest in Punjab after Lahore. It is named after some Arab because the Paks didn't have anybody notable of their own to name it after...
regional police officer.

MPA Malik Nawaz said the warden had slapped his driver's face and "it is wrong that my guards had started to thrash the warden on parking issue".
