Russian nationalists capture US made Javelin ATGMs
By Chris Covert
Rantburg.com

According to information supplied by the pro Russian Voice of Sevastopol, pro Russian nationalists destroyed a Ukrainian ammunition convoy in Izium in Kharkiv oblast (province) Sunday.

According to a news blurb, the supply convoy was caught trying to reach the position of the Ukrainian 1st Tank Brigade when Russian nationalists attacked and destroyed four of the five supply trucks.

The fifth was said to be carrying US made Javelin anti tank guided missiles (FGM-148). The Javelin ATGM is a first generation fire and forget anti tank missile, and amongst the most advanced of its type.

The war is going badly for the pro Russian nationalists who have been trying to establish three separate republics, Donetsk, Lugansk and Kharkiv, by taking territory from Ukraina. It is said in both western and pro Russian press that the Ukrainian Army is close to encircling the city of Donetsk.

Even so, Russian president Vladimir Putin is reportedly planning to send a humanitarian aid convoy to Donetsk, but has been warned by NATO and US President Barak Obama not to. According to western press Russia has amassed 45,000 troops, the rough equivalent to one army corps, on the border with Ukraina, and fears in NATO are that Putin may be close to sending those troops in on any provocation or pretext.

Meanwhile in Gorlovka, which is about 15 kilometers northeast of Donetsk, Russian nationalist troops led by former Russian GRU colonel Igor Bezler have destroyed a Ukrainian armor unit traveling to Donetsk. According to the report a total of 20 armor vehicles, including three tanks were destroyed.

According to Voice of Sevastopol, Ukrainian artillery units have been shelling Gorlovka for two days, causing civilian casualties.

Ukrainian Army units have also been involved in fighting in Krasni Luch, about 15 kilometers east of Donetsk, in another apparent attempt to encircle Donetsk. The special police unit Azov Battalion is said to have suffered heavy casualties in the fighting there. Units in the Azov Battalion also have been reported in Markina, southwest of Donetsk and in Ilovaisk in the southeast.

According to the news report, Russian nationalist troops have destroyed a total of nine armor vehicles in the area, namely near Mospino, as well as in Krasny Luch.

According to news reports, two Ukrainian units, the Ukrainian 72nd Mechanized Brigade and the Ukrainian 24th "Lviv" Brigade have been returned to the Donetsk area of operations despite their battered condition.

Five senior officers of the 72nd Mechanized Brigade, along with 400 troops who were caught crossing the border with Russia last Saturday have been allowed to return to Ukraina Sunday, after Russian officials determined they had crossed the border by mistake. The officers were identified as Ivan Voytenko, his deputy commander Vitaly Dubinyak, tank battalion commander Alexander Polyakov, chief of staff Alexander Okhrimenko and the commander of the first company Dmitry Ustilk.

General Offensive on Donetsk to begin today

According to the Russian blogger identified as Colonel Cassad, Ukrainian forces have finished consolidating and concentrating forces for a planned final assault on the city of Donetsk. The fighting northeast of the city is an effort by Ukrainian forces to cut off the city in preparation for the assault. According to the blog posting, shelling begins Tuesday morning. Force have at their disposal "all calibers" of artillery including rocket artillery such as the BM-21.

Ukrainian military officials are expecting large civilian casualties from their shelling.

Russian nationalist troops have kept some Ukrainian forces tied down, especially in the northeast near Krasnii Luch, the fighting of which will likely continue through August 24th, the day the Ukrainian offensive is projected to conclude. The August date is important because that is when miloitary exercises with Moldova, on Ukraina's western border are expected to end around that date.

Russian nationalist armored forces are said to include 200 armored vehicles in or near Donetsk. The only hope of pro Russian forces to stop the coming offensive is to destroy troops and supplies movement during the offensive. It is said now that Putin's humanitarian convoy movement is set to begin Tuesday.

According to commenters on the Colonel Cassad blog Ukrainian forces have been deeply battered by the recent fighting. One commenter identified five Ukrainian formations which have reported available forces a fraction of their book strength.

Those units include the Ukrainian 72th Mechanized Brigade which reported 467 effectives, while the 24th Mechanized Brigade reported 473 effectives. The Ukrainian 51th Mechanized Brigade has "virtually ceased to exist", with a reported 136 effectives in the ranks. The Ukrainian 79th Separate Airmobile Brigade suffered the heaviest losses with 369 effectives remaining. Most Russian and Ukrainian brigades can count around 2,000 effectives in their ranks at "book strength".

Similarly the Ukrainian 3rd Special Forces Regiment has only one battalion left.

#5  Recall that other nations use these as well. Britain, for example. And back in 03 about 40 of them went missing from US inventories, I wonder how that happened?

Whatever the case is, it is rather convenient that they didn't hit the truck that had the Javelins in it. And its also an example of just hoe much propaganda there is floating around on both sides, but especially from Russian sources.

But most of all, it shows the sheer ineptitude of the Obama administration and State Dept in how badly this whole thing was handled.

Canadian's Appeal to Stop Extradition to U.S. over Iraq Deaths Denied
[AnNahar] An Iraqi-born Canadian man accused of helping to plan suicide kabooms which left five American soldiers dead lost an appeal against his extradition to the United States on Monday.

Lawyers for Faruq Khalil Muhammad 'Isa, who faces life in prison if eventually convicted, immediately vowed to take the case to the Supreme Court of Canada.

'Isa was indicted in New York federal court in 2011 on charges of conspiracy to murder Americans in his native Iraq, and providing material support for terrorism.

He was jugged
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
in Canada the same year and subsequently ordered extradited to the United States to face a trial.

'Isa however appealed the decision.

He maintained that he was wrongly denied access to a lawyer or interpreter on the day of his arrest, and that his brother and others were tortured into giving false information about him.

The Alberta Court of Appeal in rejecting his appeal noted that the bulk of the evidence in the case was obtained from 'Isa's own statements to police, computer searches and wiretaps.

'Isa is accused of having helped to organize two suicide kabooms using two trucks filled with explosives in Iraq that killed five U.S. soldiers, several coppers and other Iraqis.

The United States alleges that he was a member of a "terrorist facilitation network" operating in Iraq, Libya, Tunisia and Syria, whose members recruited "jihadist" fighters in Tunisia and transported them into Iraq to execute attacks against U.S. and coalition forces there, according to Canadian court documents.

#1  Had this one been treated as an enemy combatant instead of a criminal, this would be over by now.

Unfortunately, the Dems and the trial lawyers that control them view the war on terrorism as a fertile growth industry for lawyers.

#2  Bill Clinton: You seem to have missed the salient point that the article is about a dude in Canuckistan rather than in the USA. He is being dealt with by what I jokingly refer to as "The Canadian Legal System" which can be quite nasty - in a passive/aggressive way - to people like him.
His appeal to the Supreme (HAH!!!!) Court of Canuckistan will be dismissed . . . . eventually . . . . and he will be deported to the USA after having been exposed to a few years of 24 hour a day Country and Western music. In other words he will have had to listen to women singing through their noses and men yearning for the good old honky-tonk life for DAY AFTER DAY AFTER DAY with no mention of cruel and unusual having been mentioned. That has got to hurt someone who is named after Mo-Ham-Head.

Yank ISIS wannabe held at JFK
[AnNahar] An American who tweeted his allegiance to the leader of Islamic State jihadists was tossed in the slammer
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
at New York's JFK airport last week, officials said Monday.

Donald Ray Morgan was taken into custody on August 2 upon his arrival from Frankfurt, according to documents filed in a federal court in Brooklyn.

Morgan had spent eight months in Leb, where his wife lives, the New York Daily News reported.

A spokesperson for prosecutors said the 44-year-old ex-convict was arrested in connection with a North Carolina indictment and charged with "being a felon in possession of firearms."

Authorities also discovered that Morgan had tweeted his loyalty to the leader of the Islamic State using the alias Abu Omar al Amreeki.

"The defendant expressed his allegiance to the leader of ISIS on his Twitter account: Abu Omar al Amreeki," the prosecutor's spokesperson said, without providing more details.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, however, said Morgan has not been charged with terrorism.

There is "no indication of anything with terrorism, the charges are for fire arms violation," an FBI spokesperson said.

He is currently being transported to North Carolina, according to the prosecutor's office.

District Police Officer Sadiq Hussain Baloch told a presser that police raided a house in Girra Jana village on a tip-off and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition.

He said that police also exchanged fire with suspected murderous Moslems including Qari Ikram, who was involved in the liquidation of a local political leader Jamshed Faqir.

The DPO said that the suspects managed to escape, taking advantage of thick wild bushes and trees. They left behind two suicide jackets, 13 remote-controlled bomb fuses, 17 hand grenades, five kilograms of explosives along with ball-bearings, batteries and poisonous medicines.

To a question, the official said the group was involved in attack and killing of Jamshed Faqir. Two militants, three others killed in 'encounters'
[DAWN] KARACHI: Police on Monday claimed to have killed two suspected hard boyz and jugged
Into the paddy wagon wit' yez!
a third one in Sohrab Goth besides killing three suspects in Lyari
...one of the eighteen constituent towns of the city of Karachi. It is the smallest town by area in the city but also the most densely populated. Lyari has few schools, substandard hospitals, a poor water system, limited infrastructure, and broken roads. It is a stronghold of ruling Pakistan Peoples Party. Ubiquitous gang activity and a thriving narcotics industry make Lyari one of the most disturbed places in Karachi, which is really saying a lot....
and Steel Town in 'encounters'.

Contingents of police on a tip-off about the presence of the hard boyz conducted a raid on their alleged hideout in Machhar Colony, said Sohrab Goth DSP Qamar Ahmed. The suspects opened fire on the police party in an attempt to escape, and in the 'retaliatory firing' two suspects were killed.

During the shootout, a fire broke out in the hideout where kaboom was also kept, but the fire helped the police arrest one of the suspects who was trying to scale a wall, added the officer.

He identified the dead men as Mohammed Zaman and Irshad and the held man as Qari Ehsanullah.

"They belonged to the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain's Abid Muchhar group," said DSP Qamar.

They were allegedly involved in kidnapping for ransom, assassinations and other crimes.

The police said they found kaboom and arms and ammunition in the hideout. The bodies were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

This was a fifth such incident in the east zone of the city against hard boyz as previously most such actions took place in the west zone of the police.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Hubba Hubba Club, Big Shirley was still trying to snatch Nunzio bald-headed. She was already halfway there...
three suspects were rubbed out in alleged encounters in Lyari and Steel Town, officials said on Monday.

On a tip-off, police and Rangers conducted a raid in Moosa Lane, Bagdadi. On seeing the law-enforcers, the suspects opened fire them. In 'retaliatory firing', a suspect identified as Sardar Shah, alias Sardaru, was killed at 1.40am.

The body was taken to the Civil Hospital Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
.

The dead man was allegedly involved in the killing of a police head constable of the CID, Mohammed Siddiq, in 2012 and in other assassinations and extortion, said City SSP Sheeraz Nazeer.

A Baghdadi police official said Sardar was affiliated with the Uzair Baloch gang and had allegedly killed sub-inspector Rafiq Baloch in Ramazan and sub-inspector Manzoor Illahi one and a half years ago.

In the other incident, in Steel Town, two suspects were rubbed out.

Five suspects were allegedly looting people on the link road leading to the Superhighway at around 4am when a police party reached there. In the ensuing encounter, two suspects, in their mid-20s, were bumped off while their accomplices escaped, said Steel Town SHO Haroon Korai.

The police seized two cycle of violences, cash and other valuables they had snatched from people. The bodies were taken to the Edhi morgue for want of identification after a post-mortem examination conducted at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

Robbers kill man in Defence

They added that two suspects riding a cycle of violence intercepted Sajjad near Shahbaz Commercial Area at 12.30pm with the intention to rob him. As he put up resistance, the suspects opened fire on him and fled. He was taken to the JPMC, where doctors declared him dead.

Iraq President Tasks Abadi with Forming Government as U.S. Says Shipping Arms to Kurds
[AnNahar] Iraqi President Fuad Masum on Monday tasked first deputy speaker of parliament Haidar al-Abadi with forming a government during a brief ceremony broadcast live on television.

"The country is now in your hands," Masum told Abadi, who moments earlier was selected as nominee for prime minister instead of incumbent Nuri al-Maliki by the Shiite National Alliance parliamentary bloc.

After the announcement, a senior U.S. diplomat with responsibility for Iraq on Monday congratulated al-Abadi on being tasked to form a new government as prime minister.

"The United States stands ready to fully support a new and inclusive Iraqi government," added Brett McGurk, who is U.S. deputy assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs.

"We welcome the decision by Iraq's President to charge the PM nominee of the largest parliamentary bloc to form a new cabinet," McGurk said, in a tweet.

"We congratulate Dr Haidar al-Abadi on the nomination and urge him to form a new cabinet and national program as swiftly as possible."

And U.S. Vice President Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
The former Senator-for-Life from Delaware, an example of the kind of top-notch Washington intellect to be found in the World's Greatest Deliberative Body...
hailed the nomination of a new Iraqi prime minister as a "key milestone" on Monday and offered U.S. help in rolling back gains by Islamic holy warriors, the White House said.

Biden made the offer in a call to Iraqi President Masum, who had earlier asked al-Abadi to form a new government, replacing that of incumbent premier Nuri al-Maliki.

The White House said Biden "commended Masum for meeting this key milestone and reiterated President B.O.'s repeated calls for the timely creation of a new, more inclusive government that will be able to address the legitimate concerns of all Iraqis."

Biden "also emphasized President B.O.'s desire to boost coordination with a new Iraqi government and Iraqi security forces to roll back gains by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant
... the current version of al-Qaeda in Iraq, just as blood-thirsty and well-beloved as the original...
."

Masum acted over the objections of Maliki, who gave a defiant televised speech at midnight suggesting he would fight to the end to keep his job.

The United States has expressed alarm over the rapid gains made by Islamic State murderous Moslems since a lightning offensive in June that left djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
and much of the Sunni heartland under the control of the Lion of Islams.

The leaders of La Belle France and Turkey, meanwhile, called on the newly nominated Iraqi prime minister to form a government of national unity quickly in the face of the jihadist threat.

French President Francois Hollande
...the Socialist president of La Belle France, an economic bad joke for la Belle France but seemingly a foreign policy realist...
's office said in a statement that during a phone call with Turkish president-elect Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi only they haven't dumped him yet...
, the two leaders "expressed the wish that the prime minister-designate Al-Abadi quickly form a government of national unity."

"They stressed the need for the political conditions to be created in Iraq that would allow an effective fight against Islamic State and that would also meet the aspirations of the country's people."

The two leaders said they backed the efforts of Iraqi President Masum as he attempts to break the political deadlock that has hampered the fight against Islamic forces of Evil in the north of the country.

U.N. Secretary General the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon
... of whom it can be said to his credit that he is not Kofi Annan...
on Monday also welcomed the appointment of a new Iraqi prime minister and called for calm after outgoing premier al-Maliki vowed to challenge the decision.

Ban said the appointment of al-Abadi was in accordance with the Iraqi constitution and represented "forward movement toward government formation in Iraq" which is fighting a jihadist offensive.

The U.N. chief "strongly urges all political parties and their supporters to remain calm and respect the political process governed by the constitution," said a statement from his front man.

Earlier, Iraq's President Masum had asked Abadi, formerly first deputy speaker of parliament, to set up a new government, despite resistance from incumbent Iraqi leader Nuri al-Maliki.

Maliki has threatened to take Masum to court for failing to nominate him to continue as prime minister. McGurk made it clear that Washington supports a change.

"We welcome the decision by Iraq's President to charge the PM nominee of the largest parliamentary bloc to

form a new cabinet," McGurk said, in a tweet.

"We congratulate Dr Haidar al-Abadi on the nomination and urge him to form a new cabinet and national program as swiftly as possible."

chief Nabil al-Arabi denounced on Monday "crimes against humanity" committed by jihadists in Iraq against the minority Yazidi sect, demanding the perpetrators be brought to justice.

Iraqi politicians have warned of the dire plight of Yazidis stranded high up a mountain after Islamic State murderous Moslems overran their lands.

The jihadists' advances in northern Iraq have also prompted an exodus of Christians.

Arabi "strongly denounced the crimes, killings, dispossession carried out by the terrorist (IS) against civilians and minorities in Iraq that have affected Christians in Mosul and Yazidis," he said in a statement.

Referring to reports of hundreds of Yazidis killed in the jihadist onslaught, Arabi said "these terrorist crimes amount to crimes against humanity that cannot be overlooked."

"The perpetrators must be held accountable and brought to international justice," the statement said.

a State Department spokeswoman said Monday that the United States has begun urgently shipping arms and ammunition to the Iraqi Kurdish forces.

"We're working with the government of Iraq to increasingly and very quickly get urgently needed arms to the Kurds," Marie Harf told CNN.

"This includes the Iraqis providing their own weapons from their own stocks, and we're working to do the same thing from our stocks of weapons that we have."

Harf said the effort had been underway since last week, but did not say which U.S. agency was leading the effort or how many and what type of weapons had been sent.

The United States has a consulate and other facilities in Arbil, capital of Iraq's Kurdish autonomous region, and last week President Barack Obama

announced air strikes to protect the city from the IS advance.

Efforts to support Kurdish peshmerga forces could complicated the United States' ties to the Iraqi government in Baghdad, which is also fighting the Islamic State but has tense relations with Arbil.

But Harf insisted that, in the current crisis, the two are working together.

"We have seen an unprecedented level of cooperation between the Iraqi forces and the Kurdish forces. We hadn't seen that in the past. They're helping each other out," Harf said.

"So any way we can get the very urgently needed arms to the Kurds we are actively working on," she said.

"We'll work with the government of Iraq to do that, but we believe again there is such an urgent situation that we need to do this."

In a related matter, a U.S. State Department official said earlier in the day that Iraqi Kurds are "being armed by various sources" in the fight against Islamic State jihadists.

The official added that "they are getting something rapidly" after the IS holy warriors' strong gains in Kurdish regions in northern Iraq.

"They (Kurds) are getting some arms from various sources, they are being armed by various sources," said the official, who refused to name which countries were involved.

Asked if the United States was supplying weapons, he replied: "I can't go into that.

"There are a lot of discussions taking place between a lot of countries," he added.

Security sources said Monday that IS fighters had defeated Kurdish troops in the flashpoint Iraqi town of Jalawla, killing at least 10 in a fierce two-day battle.

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius on Monday called on the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
to "mobilize" to respond to appeals from Iraq's Kurds for arms to fight Islamic State jihadists.

In a letter to EU foreign affairs supremo Catherine Ashton, Fabius said: "It is crucial that the European Union mobilizes from today to respond to this appeal for help."

Fabius, who has just returned from a trip to Iraq where he met Iraqi Kurdish President Massud Barzani, explained that the latter had stressed "the urgent need for weapons and ammunition that would allow them to confront and beat the terrorist group Islamic State."

"I would be very grateful if you could urgently mobilize the member states and the European institutions to respond," Fabius wrote to Ashton.

"It seems to me that a special meeting of the council of (European) foreign ministers would be desirable," he added.

During his visit to Iraq on Sunday to oversee a shipment of humanitarian aid from La Belle France, Fabius said the Kurdish authorities "must receive, in a sure way, equipment that will allow them to defend themselves and to counterattack."

"We will look into that over the coming days but in liaison with the Europeans," Fabius told La Belle France 2 television.

La Belle France and Britannia have pledged support for a U.S.-led operation helping Iraqi civilians -- many of them from the Yazidi minority -- who are fleeing a murderous advance by Islamic State (IS) holy warriors.

While all three Western countries are providing emergency aid for the besieged civilians, the United States has also been conducting air strikes on IS positions.

Fabius reiterated his call for "all the politicians in Iraq to hold talks to find a quick political solution that is acceptable to all parts of the country."

Italian Foreign Minister Federica Mogherini also called earlier on Monday for a special EU meeting to discuss "Iraq, Gazoo and Libya, three crises which concern Europe directly."

"We're not talking about military intervention but providing support, even of a military sort, to the Kurdish government," Mogherini said.

As well, European Union envoys were to meet Tuesday for an emergency meeting over the deepening crisis in Iraq, an EU diplomatic source said.

The move comes after Fabius sent a letter to EU foreign affairs supremo Catherine Ashton urging the 28-member bloc to mobilize to help Iraq's Kurds fight the Islamic State (IS) jihadists.

The EU source said Monday that envoys from member states would meet in Brussels "to coordinate as well as possible" a response to the latest brutal advances by the murderous Moslems which has forced an exodus of Christians and Yazidis.

However the source said the meeting, officially called by Italia which holds the rotating EU presidency, is not expected to yield any decision.

Fabius, who has just returned from a trip to Iraq where he met Kurdish president Massud Barzani, said Barzani had stressed "the urgent need for weapons and ammunition that would allow them to confront and beat the terrorist group Islamic State".

Italian Foreign Minister Federica Mogherini also called for a crisis meeting to evaluate "with our principle European partners more efficient means" of stopping the jihadist advance.

"We're not talking about military intervention but providing support, even of a military sort, to the Kurdish government," she told Italian radio.

La Belle France and Britannia have pledged support for a US-led operation to help Iraqi civilians -- many of them from the Yazidi minority -- who are fleeing the IS holy warriors.

The United States has also been conducting air strikes on IS positions.

New Details Surface In Hamas Murder Of IDF Soldier Hadar Goldin
[Breitbart] On Friday, August 1st, media reported that Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, had kidnapped IDF Officer LT Hadar Goldin, 23; the next day, he was announced killed in action by a Hamas jacket wallah who had emerged from a tunnel. Lt. Goldin was an officer in the Givati Brigade, an elite Israeli infantry unit. He had become engaged weeks before going to Gazoo.

Major Benaya Sarel, 26, and 1st Sgt. Liel Gidoni, 20, were also killed in the kaboom detonated by a Hamas suicide bomber.

An unnamed Israeli military source spoke to Breitbart News about the story of how Hamas used an UNRWA ambulance, a mosque, and the Islamic University to carry out the attack that killed the three IDF soldiers.

The officer explained how, after the suicide kaboom that killed Lt. Goldin, a second kidnapping team of Hamas gunnies grabbed parts of his body and ran back into the tunnel from which the gunnies emerged. The tunnel led back into a mosque. From the mosque, they escaped in a clearly marked UNRWA ambulance. The gunnies then made contact with high-ranking Hamas officials hiding in the Islamic University.

As a result Abu Marzook, a senior member of Hamas, announced in Cairo that Hamas had kidnapped an Israeli soldier. Israeli intelligence intercepted a conversation between the kidnappers and the Hamas officials at the Islamic University and thus got all the particulars regarding the hiding place of the kidnappers. Within minutes, the IAF attacked both the kidnappers' location and the Islamic University.

In the midst of this attack, a second force of IDF soldiers--which had gone into a mosque looking for weapons, explosives, and rockets-- encountered a female suicide bomber who was about to detonate the belt she wore, which would have resulted in the deaths of the soldiers. One of the soldiers instinctively recited the opening words of the holiest Jewish prayer "Shema Yisrael". The female suicide bomber hesitated and began trembling, giving the soldiers a chance to grab her and disable the device.

The soldiers then took her prisoner and turned her over to a counter-intelligence unit. Their investigation uncovered that the female suicide bomber's mother was a Jew who had married a Paleostinian in Israel and, after the wedding, was smuggled against her will into Gazoo. There she lived a life filled with abuse and humiliation, and was basically a captive. In addition to the female suicide bomber, there were two smaller children as well. An armored force went in and rescued the two small children.
The difference between Israel and Hamas. Hamas forced an abused, captive mother to be a suicide bomber; the Israelis not only saved her life, but rescued her and her children and set them free in Israel.

Violence Against Jews In East Jerusalem Doubles
[IsraelTimes] More than 360 violent assaults against Jews living in East Jerusalem, including the capital's Old City, were recorded in July, nearly double the number of similar attacks that took place during the same period in 2013, according to figures published Monday

Most incidents involve youths hurling stones and Molotov cocktails at Jewish civilians living in predominantly Paleostinian neighborhoods, or rioters setting off firecrackers near Jewish institutions. In some cases, however, masked gunnies shot up Jews residing in the eastern half of the city, the Haaretz daily reported. Last Monday, an IDF soldier was shot at close range by a gunman on a cycle of violence near the neighborhood of Wadi al-Joz.

Many of the festivities involved confrontations with police during protests in the city. Police and Housing Ministry figures show that 72 violent incidents took place on the last night of Ramadan alone, compared to an average of five or six such cases a month over the rest of the year. On a different night, violent festivities took place in no fewer than 30 different locations simultaneously, according to Haaretz.

According to the police, violent festivities in Jerusalem spiked after the brutal murder of Jerusalem teen Muhammed Abu Khdeir, a crime laid at the doorstep of Jewish hard boys, and coincided with the Mohammedan holy month of Ramadan and the IDF's ongoing operation in the Gazoo Strip. Abu Khdeir, 16, a resident of the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Shuafat, was slain in an suspected Dire Revenge™ attack for the killing of three Israeli teens on June 12. His death sparked riots among Israel's Arab population throughout the country and in Jerusalem, and drew fierce domestic and international condemnation.

Despite the rise in violence, police said that most festivities between its forces and protesters did not result in severe injuries or deaths on either side.

The violence had prompted police to bolster its presence and to heighten security measures all throughout the city, according to Haaretz. Following recurrent cases of Paleostinian stone throwing at the Jerusalem light rail, the municipality equipped the tram with a small flying robot that filmed its vicinity and broadcast the footage to a control center. Service was stopped to the Arab neighborhoods of Shuafat and Beit Hanina during rioting that followed Abu Khdeir's murder which damaged train tracks and stops, but resumed two weeks later.

Paleostinian residents of Jerusalem, for their part, spoke to The Times of Israel of a heightened sense of hostility in the city. Arab cab drivers told of Jews stepping out of the vehicle when learning they were Arab, or encouraging others not to travel with them. Other told of right-wing activists singling out Arabs downtown and verbally harassing them..

Saudi and UAE Money Made Cease-Fire Possible
[GlobesIsrael] Defense sources say Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
and the UAE agreed to contribute to the rehabilitation of Gazoo.

Defense sources say that, behind the scenes, what made the cease-fire and the return to the negotiating table in Cairo possible, was Saudi and United Arab Emirates (UAE) involvement, and their willingness to contribute funds towards the rehabilitation of Gazoo. One of the sources emphasized that Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, insisted that Qatar contribute funds for Gazoo rehabilitation. However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
because Jerusalem and Cairo are wary of Qatar's increasing influence in the Gazoo Strip, under the leadership of Hamas political chairman Khaled Mashal, Saudi Arabia and the UAE were recruited for the project of rebuilding the Gazoo Strip after Operation Protective Edge.

The source noted that this process is expected to weaken Qatar and Hamas' influence abroad, with regards to what goes on in Gazoo. According to the source, the Saudi funds are contingent upon Saudi oversight, so that the funds will not be used to build tunnels or for military purposes, but only for the welfare of the residents.

Yesterday, Paleostinian news agency Samaa reported that Hamas had succeeded in bringing millions of dollars into the Gazoo Strip, which had not been transferred during the past two months, making it possible for Hamas to pay salaries. According to the report, over the past few hours, all of the members of the Hamas military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam brigade, received their last two months' salaries, and former Hamas government officials' salaries will soon be paid. It is not yet known how Hamas succeeded in bringing such a large sum of money into Gazoo, however, it is possible that it is from the aid promised by Saudi Arabia and UAE leaders.

Another factor that motivated Hamas to agree to the cease-fire is the opening of the Rafah crossing to Sinai. This came after the Egyptians expressed willingness to hand over control of the Paleostinian side of the border to the Paleostinian Authority. Another senior defense source said this morning that the Paleostinians are pinning all their hopes on the opening of the Rafah crossing under Paleostinian control. "Hamas insists upon receiving economic dividends. One of them is the Rafah crossing, and the other is extending fishing waters - a point that it appears Israel had agreed to, contingent upon a cease-fire."

Hamas Said To Have Executed Dozens Of Tunnel Diggers
[IsraelTimes] Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, executed dozens of diggers responsible for its extensive tunnel system in past weeks, fearing the workers would reveal the site locations to Israel, a report on the Mako website's army blog said.

There was no independent confirmation of the report (link here in Hebrew).

The tunnelers, many of whom constructed the tunnels over the course of months, would dig for 8-12 hours a day, and received a monthly wage of $150-$300, according to the blog.

Sources in Gazoo told the website that Hamas took a series of precautions to prevent information from reaching Israel. The terror organization would reportedly blindfold the excavators en route to the sites and back, to prevent them from recognizing the locations. The tunnels were strictly supervised by Hamas members, and civilians were kept far from the sites.

M., a former tunnel digger and Israeli collaborator, told the website that Hamas would strip search the workers to ensure they had no recording devices or cameras hidden on them.

"The people we met had their faces covered; no one knew them by their real names, it was all codes and first names. They didn't want to take the risk that some of the diggers were collaborating with Israel," he said.

After the tunnels were completed, dozens were reportedly executed to prevent intelligence leaks to Israel.

"Anyone they suspected might transfer information to Israel on the tunnels was killed by the military wing," a different source said. "They were very cruel."

In 2012, a Journal of Paleostine Studies article claimed 160 Paleostinian children were killed while working on Hamas's tunnel system.

The digging of tunnels began four years ago and has demanded 40 percent of Hamas's budget, The Times of Israel has learned.

Tunnel diggers have been using electric or pneumatic jackhammers, advancing 4-5 meters a day. The tunnels found were reportedly mostly dug 18-25 meters (60-82 feet) underground, though one was discovered at a depth of 35 meters (115 feet). "That's like a 10-story building underground," one expert said.

Digging requires engineering and geological expertise, with tunnels usually dug through sandy soil, their roof supported by a more durable level of clay. As they are dug, the tunnels are reinforced by concrete panels, manufactured locally in workshops adjacent to each tunnel. These workshops have also been targeted by the IDF throughout its military operation.

Palestinian Terror Suspect Killed In Gunfight With IDF Near Nablus
[IsraelTimes] A Paleostinian terror suspect was killed Monday in a shootout with Israeli forces after resisting arrest and holing up in a building in a village south of Nablus, local media reported.

The slain Fatah operative was named as Zakaria Al-Aqra. At least five other Paleostinians were maimed in the exchange, and two others were incarcerated

by Israeli Border Police. Two officers suffered light injuries in the shootout, the police spokesperson said.

Paleostinian and Israeli media reported that Al-Aqra, 24, opened fire on IDF troops who came to arrest him at his Qabalan home. Haaretz reported that the Border Police officers fired an anti-tank missile at the house. Amid an exchange of fire that lasted hours, according to the Paleostinian Ma'an news agency, the IDF began bulldozing sections of the building in an effort to pressure the suspect to surrender. Around 8 a.m., he was killed by IDF fire.

According to the army, Al-Aqra was involved in multiple shooting incidents at Israeli soldiers in the West Bank. It said it found arms in the building after the siege ended.

Monday's incident was the latest in a string of violent festivities between Israeli forces and Paleostinians in the restive West Bank amid widespread protests against Israel's operation against Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, in the Gazoo Strip. On Sunday, 11-year-old Mohammed Khalil al-Anati was reportedly killed by Israeli soldiers near the city of Hebron. Witnesses said he was shot by Israeli soldiers. The Israeli military said it was looking into the reports.

The circumstances of Sunday's shooting were not immediately clear.

[Iran Press TV] The ISIL Takfiri

gunnies have committed new atrocities in eastern Syria by executing over two dozen people over the past five days, a report says.

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Monday that members of the ISIL terrorist group beheaded five people in Syria's eastern Dayr al-Zawr province.

According to the report, gunnies belonging to the Takfiri group beheaded two men from the al-Sheitaat tribe in the town of al-Shaafa on Sunday.

The report further said that 18 other men from the same tribe were rubbed out and one more was beheaded by the Takfiri gunnies on the outskirts of Dayr al-Zawr city on Thursday.

Takfiri gunnies also beheaded two people in the town of al-Bulel, the UK-based group said.

Elsewhere in the city of Mayadin, Takfiri bully boys, who have been confronted by local tribes in the region, crucified two more Syrian people.

Syrian army continues mop-up operations against militants
[Iran Press TV] The Syrian army continues its operations against the foreign-backed turbans across the country, inflicting heavy losses on them.

Syrian soldiers killed and injured a number of turbans in several areas, including in al-Bab, al-Sahhara, Kafar Karmin, al-Shiekh Ahmad, Ain al-Jamajmieh, al-Kallasa, Jamaat al-Zahra and al-Layramoun in Aleppo, the official SANA news agency reported on Monday.

Syrian troops also targeted turbans in Binnish in Idlib, killing and injuring scores of them, and destroying their weaponry and ammunition.

Army units also stormed a krazed killer hideout in the town of al-Yacoubiye in Jisr al-Shughour area, killing nine turbans and injuring many others.

The Syrian army units also conducted successful operations in Mugher al-Mir, al-Darkhabiyeh, and Khan al-Shih in the countryside of the capital Damascus, killing many of the Takfiri

krazed killers.

#1  Militants

I wonder if the Romans calle Attila and friends militants? Did the Russe or the Han call Ghengis Kahn & co. militants?

The ISIL and all those groups should be called Barbarian invaders at the very least.

#2  Anyone else rooting for Asaad's army these days?

I am completely conflicted on this BUT right now, Assad, Bibi, and Sisi may be the only adults in the room.

Because our die hard liberals won't fight for anything, including keeping their heads attached to their necks, someone has to take the fight to them in a serious and overpowering way.

If the empty suit thinks he can throw gratuitous and meaningless drone strikes and pinprick airstrikes until the Iraqi government gets its act together, he has confirmed his pacifism, in its current form the Sunnis, Shias and Kurds can't agree to the color of the flowers on the table much less power sharing.

#3  Bill C, I understand where you're coming from as I'm in the same place.

We shouldn't complain too much about the garbage man as long as he is taking out the garbage and not dumping it in the yard.

#4  I am 100% behind Assad in this situation. Sure it's a nice scenario when Hezbollah Iran and Syria lock horns with Al-Nusra, ISIS, Al Qaeda and Europeon fanatics. But in the end and in the interest of world order Assad and yes Iran seem to be a much more reasonable adversary than fanatics. The enemy you know I guess is the catch phrase.

Syrian Family among 10 Killed in Aleppo Air Raid
[AnNahar] Syrian regime forces dumped barrel bombs Monday on a rebel-held area of Aleppo killing 10 civilians, including a family of four, a monitoring group said.

An Agence La Belle France Presse correspondent who later toured the area said the raids also caused heavy destruction in Bab al-Nairab neighborhood in the old district of Aleppo, Syria's second city.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said five barrel bombs were dropped on the district killing 10 civilians, including a man, his wife and their two children, as well as three other children and a woman.

The raids inflicted heavy damage to buildings in Bab al-Nairab where volunteers were sifting through mounds of blood-stained debris to search for survivors, said the AFP correspondent.

"We are hearing voices but we cannot locate them because of the destruction," a rescuer said, as the body of a man and a teenager were pulled out of the debris.
