Twenty-four militants killed in operations by Afghan army troops
[Iran Press TV] Afghanistan's Interior Ministry has announced the killing of 24 suspected Talibs across the war-torn country in a series operations by the Afghan army and security forces.

"A total of 24 armed hard boyz have been killed during police operations backed by the army and National Directorate for Security over the past 24 hours," said the ministry in a Saturday statement, Xinhua news agency reported.

According to the statement, the operations were carried out in Kunar, Oruzgan and Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
provinces, during which five more turbans sustained injuries and one of them was captured.

The Talibs, however, refuted the Interior Ministry's account, claiming that the armed hard boyz had inflicted major losses on government troops over the period.

The turbans further claimed in an online statement that they destroyed an armored vehicle in the Miwand district of the southern Kandahar province on Saturday and killed a number of security officers.

Additionally, the Taliban asserted its forces overran a police checkpoint in the Sistani area of the Marja district in Helmand province late on Friday, killing five coppers, a claim dismissed by Afghan authorities as a propaganda bid.

Taliban militants capture district in NE Afghanistan
[Iran Press TV] Talibs have captured a district in Afghanistan's northeastern province of Kunduz amid reports that the bully boyz are pushing closer towards the center of the province.

The bully boyz took control of the Chardara district on Saturday evening following long exchange of fire with Afghan cops.

"The shootout between bully boyz and security forces continued for hours during the day," district governor Zulmai Farooqi said.

He also added that both the Talibs and the security forces suffered casualties during the fighting, but the exact number has not been determined so far.

Also on Saturday, at least 14 people were killed and five others maimed when their vehicle hit a roadside kaboom in the southwestern Afghan province of Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
, said Omar Zwak, the provincial governor's front man.

No individual or group has grabbed credit for the deadly incident. However,
there's no worse danger than telling a mother her baby is ugly...
the attack bears the hallmarks of Talibs, who frequently use roadside kaboomings to target Afghan cops and their vehicles.

Militants briefly overrun town near Mogadishu
AFGOOYE, Somalia -- Somalia’s Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab militants overran a key town near Mogadishu in deadly raid overnight on Friday according to residents, Garowe Online reports. Militants firstly attacked army base in the outskirts of Afgooye, some 30km west of Mogadishu thrusting into the town and briefly seizing a police compound, security sources were quoted as saying.

The commander of Afgooye police station, Abdullahi Mohamed Haji Ali on Saturday told the reporters that they recaptured two of four armoured vehicles seized by Al Shabaab fighters in the attack. At least eight government soldiers were killed, with two being admitted to local medical facility for treatment.

On Thursday, Al Shabaab marked the first day of fasting month of Ramadan with botched suicide attack in central town, Adado.

As Somalis like millions of Muslims around the world began observing Ramadan a day ago, analysts predict rise in Al Shabaab rampages.

Improvised bomb partially destroys Fayoum Sports Stadium wall
[AlAhram] An improvised bomb went kaboom! early Saturday next to an electricity kiosk behind Fayoum Sports Stadium, damaging the kiosk and part of the wall of the stadium, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.

Neither casualties nor injuries were reported.

Major General Younis Gahr, Fayoum security head, received notification of the incident that said part of the stadium wall was destroyed due to the severity of the blast.

The kaboom also caused damage to a car parked nearby, and a booth selling groceries.

Egypt has recently seen an increase of bombings in civilian areas in Cairo and other cities, which seldom happened previously as holy warriors targeted police and army personnel and facilities.

Electricity pylons are often targetted. Last year, police forces said bad boy attacks was one of the factors contributing to regular power cuts, along with fuel shortages in power plants.

Last week, a policeman in Fayoum was injured when gunnies shot up a small cop shoppe in a village in the central Fayoum governorate.

Scores of ISIL terrorists killed in northeast Libya
[Iran Press TV] Dozens of the ISIL Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
forces of Evil based in Libya's northeastern city of Derna have been killed in festivities with bully boyz trying to dislodge them from the city, a report says.

"There were dozens of deaths" in the ISIL ranks as "gunnies" struggled early on Saturday to drive the Lions of Islam out of Derna's eastern district of Fataeh, Libyan news agency Lana reported.

Lana, affiliated with the internationally unrecognized government in the Libyan capital Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, said Fataeh was ISIL's "last bastion in Derna," implying that the forces of Evil had been driven out of the rest of the city.

The Mujahedeen Council of Derna militia group has been fighting the ISIL for more than a week.

The ISIL, which has been engaged in heinous crimes in different parts of Iraq and Syria, emerged in Libya in February, after releasing a video that showed the beheading of 21 Egyptian Christians.

The terrorist group, which launched a military parade in the streets of the coastal city of Sirte in February, has also attacked oil fields to spread out its territory to the east of Sirte.

Boko Haram pledges allegiance to the Islamic State
[Daily Maverick] After months of teasing, Boko Haram has finally pledged allegiance to the Islamic State; an unholy alliance that, in theory, makes both sides bigger, badder and more brutal than ever before. But what if the theory is wrong? What if this is a sign of weakness, not strength?

Boko Haram won't appreciate the analogy, but it fits: like a stripper tantalising her way towards the big reveal, the Nigerian militants have been teasing this one for months. There was the talk last year of joining a caliphate; the sudden change of tactics to emulate the Islamic State's successes; and, recently, the none-too-subtle flirting on Twitter.

So the announcement, when it came, was no surprise -- but no less momentous for it. Abubakar Shekau, in an audio message, confirmed that he as boko haram leader had pledged bayat -- allegiance -- to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, Emir of the Islamic State and self-declared Caliph.
More than likely a desperate move by BH. They've been taken on by a consortium of private security personnel in league with the host government. Mineral rights must be protected.

Saudi-led strikes hit Yemen's Aden as peace talks fail
[DAWN] Saudi-led warplanes launched dawn raids Saturday against sock puppets of the Medes and the Persians in Yemen's southern port city of Aden, the military said, hours after peace talks in Geneva ended without agreement.

At least 15 air strikes rocked the northern, eastern and western approaches to Aden, said a pro-government military source.

He said the rebels shelled several Aden neighbourhoods, killing four people and wounding several others, a toll confirmed by hospital officials. The violence came hours after the UN's special envoy for Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, announced Friday in Geneva that talks between the warring sides ended without agreement.

"I won't beat around the bush. There was no kind of agreement reached," the Mauritanian diplomat told news hounds in the Swiss city.

An Nahar adds:
A car blast near a mosque in Yemen's capital Saturday killed at least two people and Saudi-led warplanes bombarded second city Aden, after peace talks in Geneva ended without agreement.

The kaboom in Sanaa, which is under the control of Iran-backed Shiite Houthis, went off outside the Kobbat al-Mehdi mosque as Shiite Moslems emerged from midday prayers, witnesses and security sources said.

As well as the two dead, another six people were maimed in the blast, according to medical officials.

The bombing, which comes as Moslems observe the holy fasting month of Ramadan, caused damage to the entrance of the mosque and shattered the windows of a nearby house, an Agence La Belle France Presse photographer reported.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, the latest in a series that has targeted Sanaa, which the Houthis seized in September last year.

On Wednesday at least 31 people were killed and dozens maimed in five simultaneous bombings claimed by the Islamic State

," Sheikh Nazmul Alam, deputy commissioner of the Detective Branch (north) of police, told the Dhaka Tribune.

He said Ishmam was tossed in the calaboose

based on information given by two Junud at-Tawheed Wal Khilafah members detained earlier.

"Ishmam was shown arrested in a case filed with Dhaka Cantonment cop shoppe and will be grilled for further details," said Nazmul.

According to detectives, Ishmam, who works at a travel agency, studied at Adamjee Cantonment Public School, Rajuk Uttara Model College and later at Islamic Online University.

Ishmam yesterday was remanded for five days by the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court after DB Inspector Hasibul Haque, also the investigating officer of the case, produced him before it with a ten-day remand plea.

Detectives traced Junud at-Tawheed Wal Khilafah after the arrest of its founder Abdullah Al Ghalib on May 31. They said the outfit was following the strategies of the Islamic State to establish caliphate in Bangladesh.

Ghalib told detectives his organization had contacted the Islamic State online and held meeting with 10-12 Ansarullah Bangla Team members to draw up plans for fresh IS recruits.

Based on Ghalib's information, detectives later detained another member of his organization, Munsasir, on June 8.

"We are now looking for other members of the outfit," said DB Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Shahjahan.

US man gets more than 7 years over 2009 ISI bombing
[DAWN] A US man who gave money to a jacket wallah who attacked a headquarters of Pakistain's intelligence service was sentenced to more than seven years in prison Friday, prosecutors said.

Reaz Qadir Khan, 51, a naturalised US citizen living in Portland, Oregon had previously pleaded guilty in a US court to providing material support to terrorists.

Khan admitted arranging for the delivery of approximately $2,450 to Maldivian Ali Jaleel, one of the suicide bombers responsible for the May 27, 2009 attack on Pakistain's Inter-Services Intelligence
...the Pak military intelligence agency that controls the military -- heads of ISI typically get promoted into the Chief of Army Staff position. headquarters in Lahore which killed 30 people and injured 300 more.

The government said at the time that the attack, believed to have been carried out by Jaleel and two other people, was in apparent Dire Revenge for an army offensive against Talibs in the country's northwestern Swat
...a valley and an administrative district in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistain, located 99 mi from Islamabad. It is inhabited mostly by Pashto speakers. The place has gone steadily downhill since the days when Babe Ruth was the Sultan of Swat...
region.

Khan also admitted to providing advice and financial assistance to Jaleel's wives after the bombing, "while knowing that providing such assistance would hinder and prevent the apprehension of Jaleel's wives and others who may have helped in the attack," prosecutors said.

"With today's sentence, the court held the defendant accountable and made it clear that no community should be subjected to the dangers posed by those seeking to assist violent bandidos gunnies whether here or abroad," said Acting US Attorney Billy Williams.

leader responsible for the execution of men from the Shaaitan tribe in the town of Hit in western Anbar province.

"As a result of the bombarding of [ISIS] gunnies in the area of Mohammedi in Hit by Iraqi jets, 19 ISIS gunnies were killed and four others maimed," said Saad Man, Interior Ministry front man, speaking at a presser on Saturday.

"Among the ISIS casualties, the Saudi national Akram Aruf, known as Abu Amar al-Shami,who was responsible for the executions of dozens of men from the Shaaitan tribe was killed," said Maan.

"Aruf had close ties with Abu Sayyaf," he added, referring to the former head of ISIS oil operations who was killed in a US commando raid on May 16.

In a rare ground attack deep inside Syria, the US forces killed Sayyaf, while capturing his wife and rescuing a woman who US officials described as enslaved by the couple.

In other developments against ISIS, the grave of dozens of Iraqi Army officers and security personnel who were executed by the Death Eater group was reportedly located.

"Iraqi forces have found a mass grave of 30 officers and security personnel in the area of Garma east of Fallujah town," said Captain Murza Jomaili, commander of the Garma operation.

Last week, the Anbar provincial council said the Iraqi joint forces had resumed military operations against ISIS on the outskirts of Fallujah and Ramadi.

Three Abu Sayyaf militants nabbed in Palawan
[GMA] Philippine security forces arrested three Abu Sayyaf militants in Palawan on Thursday, according to a military report released on Saturday. The report identified the three as Alnaser Sawadjaan, Jardin Hajuli, and Alig Pandah – all from Sulu province.

While being interrogated, the three revealed that their leader, identified as Muammar Askali, is in Puerto Princesa City on a kidnapping mission at the Baragatan festival.

Sawadjaan is the son of the late Abu Sayyaf sub-leader Jul Asman Sawadjaan who is blamed for the kidnapping of Jordanian journalist Baker Attani three years ago in Sulu.

Askali masterminded the bombing of a police camp in Sulu. Fourteen police personnel were injured in the attack last May 29.

Opposition and regime forces exchange fire in Aleppo, civilian casualties reported
[ARA] Syrian armed opposition targeted several areas held by the pro-regime forces in Aleppo with local-made shells and Grad rockets
...Soviet-developed 122-mm rockets, usually launched from trucks. Newer versions are reported to have a range of up to 30 km....
, causing the death and injury of dozens among civilians, local sources reported on Saturday.

Speaking to ARA News in Aleppo, media activist Ali Jaafar confirmed the fall of several mortar shells at the regime-held al-Qasr al-Baladi building, Muhallab barracks as well as Sulaimaniya and al-Midan districts, killing three civilians and wounding 15 others, some of them are at death's doors.

Factions of the armed opposition denied attacking civilians in the regime-held areas, saying in press statements that their operations only target pro-Assad military headquarters in Aleppo.

The source pointed out that this coincided with Assad forces bombarding neighborhoods under the control of the armed opposition with missiles (type Phil) and barrel bombs.

"In the opposition-held neighborhoods of Bustan al-Qaser, al-Qaterji, ash-Shaar and Ain at-Tal residential buildings were bombed by pro-Assad forces," Jaafar told ARA News. "This led to a widespread destruction of property and the fall of the number of maimed among residents."

The battle for Aleppo claimed lives of thousands of civilians in the past four years, according to civil rights activists, who accused pro-Assad air force of continuously using barrel bombs during the attacks.

Syrian airstrike claims lives of civilians in Hasakah

group (IS/ISIS) in the southwestern countryside of Hasakah city, northeastern Syria, locals reported.

Local sources in Hasakah told ARA News that at least four civilians from one family bit the dust due to an Arclight airstrike conducted by the Syrian regime's air force on Saturday in the village of Abb ash-Shok (10km southwest Hasakah city).

At least 20 other civilians were hardly injured during the attack. No reports of casualties in the ranks of IS murderous Moslems --who are in control of the targeted village of Abb As-Shok.

"Only civilians are paying the bill of this deadly war," said an activist.

Two weeks ago, Lion of Islam fighters of the Islamic State launched an offensive on the city of Hasakah, but the heavy counter attacks by the Kurdish forces of the People's Protection Units (YPG) and the U.S.-led coalition's warplanes prevented the group from advancing to the city.

In the meantime, festivities continued between IS murderous Moslems and the pro-regime forces with heavy and medium weapons in southern Hasakah. IS is still in control of several villages south of the city, despite the continues attacks by the U.S.-led coalition and Syrian air force.

Several groups share power over Hasakah province. In the city, the Kurdish forces of the People's Protection Units (YPG) and pro-regime forces share control of the neighborhoods. Meanwhile,

Kurds seize new villages amid ISIS retreat north Raqqa
[ARA] Amid continuous battles against Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
's (IS/ISIS) holy warriors, Kurdish fighters of the People's Protection Units (YPG) and allied rebels of Burkan al-Furat seized Saturday a number of new villages and farms in the northern countryside of Raqqa, northeastern Syria, military sources reported.

The joint forces were able to kill a number of IS holy warriors, seizing a large deal of weapons and ammunition.

Speaking to ARA News, Sarhad Abbas, fighter in the YPG ranks, reported that the joint forces (YPG and allied rebels) seized control of more than 15 villages and farms south of Suluk town, as well as the main highway in the Qantari area.

"Our units advanced in the northern areas of Ain Issa town as well, killing dozens of IS terrorists," he added.

Abbas pointed out that the morale of the joint forces is rising, "especially after receiving huge reinforcements of heavy weapons and fighters from Hasakah province to combat the murderous Moslems in Raqqa countryside".

Also on Saturday, the YPG's Media Center issued a statement, of which ARA News received a copy, saying: "The YPG forces liberated the villages of Khatoon, Oum al-Baramil and five farms south of Suluk town."

"The villages of Abu Husseini, Rawiya and Mahiri south of Tel Abyad were also liberated by the joint forces. At least five IS bad boyz were potted during festivities in the vicinity of Sina village," the statement added.

There are still hit-and-run battles going on near Ain Issa town between the joint forces and the hardline group of the Islamic State.

Kurdish forces and allied rebels regained the border city of Tel Abyad in Raqqa province days ago, forcing the IS radical group to withdraw from a strategic crossing at the Turkish border.

IS beheads three of its own amid fighting and regime raids in Syria

(ISIS) group beheaded three of its own members in the countryside of Deir Ezzor in eastern Syria, where regime air raids have been trying to push back the myrmidons, an exile monitoring group reported.

It said the three ISIS men were publicly beheaded by sword for "banditry" and "killing a man and throwing him in a well in order to steal his money," the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said. The executions took place in the town of Khasham.

Meanwhile,
...back at the game, the Babe headed for second base. He almost made it. Then Sheila slapped him....
regime warplanes and helicopters were continuing raids in and around Deir Ezzor, including its air base, SOHR said, reporting barrel bombs dropped and casualties among the myrmidons.

The monitoring group reported festivities between ISIS and the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) in the countryside south of Tal Brak, with casualties on both sides.

ISIS fighters also clashed with YPG and rebel forces in the southern countryside of Tal Abyad and were advancing against the myrmidons, SOHR said.

It reported regime air raids, including barrel bombs, in various parts of northern Aleppo province.
