160 Taliban Insurgents Killed in Kunduz Airstrikes
[Tolo News] At least 160 Taliban forces of Evil have been killed in a US troops operation in northern Kunduz province, local officials said on Wednesday.

The forces of Evil were targeted while gathered in various parts of Kunduz city, officials said.

Meanwhile,
...back at the palazzo, Don Smilzo looked for an avenue of escape. The only window opened a hundred feet above the moat. The nearest of the hired assassins hold a bloody axe.
The window was looking better all the time....

Faiz Mohammad Amiri, deputy provincial council head of Kunduz has urged government to launch a military operation against the myrmidons.

Amiri who is with the security forces at Kunduz airport said that the Taliban forces of Evil attacked the airport on Tuesday night and were in festivities with the security forces for several hours.

"The forces of Evil moved back after the response of the security forces," he said. "The commando forces have arrived by air in Kunduz city but we are still waiting for the ground forces."

He also said that the Taliban forces of Evil had sustained massive casualties in festivities with the security forces on Tuesday night.

On Tuesday, the Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook said the U.S. forces conducted an Arclight airstrike on the outskirts of Kunduz city which fell to the Taliban late Monday.

The Arclight airstrike was a "force-protection strike conducted by a fixed-wing manned aircraft" to eliminate a threat to coalition and Afghan forces in the area, Cook told news hounds.

"We strongly condemn the attacks in Kunduz, and stand with the Afghan people in our commitment to Afghanistan's peace and security," he said.

The situation is a setback for Afghan forces, Cook acknowledged, but he said the United States has confidence in the Afghan government forces.

"We've seen them respond in recent weeks and months to the challenges they face, and they're doing the same thing in Kunduz right now," he said.

province since Tuesday, local officials said.

In addition, more than 50 have been injured.

Fazal Ahmad Serzad, Provincial Police Chief said: "Daesh are taking orders directly from Pakistain's intelligence service (ISI) and more than 90 percent of Daesh holy warriors are Pak nationals."

Serzad said that festivities still continue in some parts of Ashin district of the province and so far three security soldiers have been killed and eight others injured.

This comes after Daesh holy warriors attacked the security outposts at 3 a.m (local time) on Tuesday. Hundreds of holy warriors started festivities, said officials.

"Reinforcements have been deployed to the areas. So far there are no civilian or Afghan security force casualties," officials said.

A security source said on condition of anonymity on Tuesday that the U.S forces provided air support to their Afghan counterparts during Sunday's armed encounter.

Afghan forces retake northern city of Kunduz from Taliban militants

That was fast.

#1  1. Holding it is another matter.

2. And speaking of holding, the Talibs likely took Kunduz more as a "look what we can do" move. The question is whether it was intended for:

a. The world audience as a display of Talib prowess,
b. Other jihad organizations, for the same reason,
c. The Afghan government as a display of Pakistani retribution,
d. Internal consumption for the division-ridden Taliban.

Egypt's security forces kill 4 alleged terrorists in Alexandria
[AlAhram] Egyptian security forces killed on Wednesday four alleged members of the outlawed Moslem Brüderbund who were wanted for their role in a number of attacks against coppers, Egypt's Ministry of Interior announced.
Whoever they might have thought they were while they lived, they're all Moslim Brotherhood now.
In a statement published on its official Facebook page, the interior ministry said that the four "terrorists" were involved in a number of attacks against police in Beheira governorate, including the murder of a low-ranking police officer.

The statement added that police stormed their apartment in Agami district, Alexandria while they were planning an attack to be carried out in Alexandria.

The four open fired on the security forces,
"Hark, lads -- my Spidey Sense is tingling! Open fire in all dirctions!"
prompting officers to shoot them, the interior ministry said.
"Open fire at the miscreants, lads -- aim for the whites of their eyes!"
"Yes, Sarge!" *Bang! Bang! Bangety bang!*
Stacks of weapons and ammunition were found in the location, the statement also said.

The Moslem Brüderbund was designated as a terrorist organization in Egypt in November 2013.

In a number of recent incidents, police have killed suspected Islamist hard boyz during similar apprehension operations, saying they had to respond to fire with lethal force.

The statement stressed that the ministry of interior will continue its campaign of "preemptive strikes" against snuffies in order to foil attack plans and dry up sources of logistical support.

LNA takes over Bridge 17 west of Janzour
[Libya Herald] Forces linked to the Libya National Army have taken over Bridge 17 on the coastal road, near the West Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
Power Station next to Janzour, and have set up a checkpoint there, according to sources in the capital.

The move, which has cut the coastal road between Tripoli and the Tunisian border, happened late yesterday.

The sources also claimed that the main militia in Janzour, the Fursan Janzour (Knights of Janzour), previously linked to Libya Dawn
...aka Fajr Libya, the Islamist operation launched to counter that of General Khalifa Haftar (Operation Dignity). It is made up of the Libya Shield militia (Misrata and Moslem Brotherhood), Libya Revolutionaries Operations Room (Moslem Brotherhood), and Tripoli Brigade (close to Abdul Hakim Belhaj, head of Al-Watan party). Financing and moral support come from Turkey and Qatar...
, had accepted the presence of the LNA forces and was not intending to fight them because, without support of fighters from Misrata, it felt unable to oppose them.

A source in Misrata, which pulled out its last forces from west of Tripoli last week, further indicated that LNA forces were now also at Zahra Bridge, near Azziziya, south of the capital.

Other reports claim that the former naval academy at Janzour has been taken over by LNA forces, but there is no confirmation of this.

However,
corruption finds a dozen alibis for its evil deeds...
there are also reports of heavy fighting further west at Camp 27, the former Qadaffy-era base fought over by both Libya Dawn an the LNA and now largely in ruins.

Despite the moves, the situation in the capital itself this evening was largely quiet, with less checkpoints than a few days ago.

Bahrain police find 1.5 tons of Iran-linked explosives, make arrests
[IsraelTimes] Discovery 'yet another Iranian action to undermine security in Bahrain and the region,' official charges

Bahraini police announced Wednesday they seized 1.5 tons of explosives in a warehouse and underground bunker system south of the capital, Manama, in one of the largest such busts amid ongoing unrest in the tiny island kingdom.

The material seized in the Nuwaidrat residential district, including C4, RDX and TNT, as well as hand grenades, matched explosive traces found at a series of recent attacks in Bahrain, the Interior Ministry said, without elaborating. Police said in a statement they made "a number" of arrests, claiming those suspected of being involved had ties to Iran and the Shiite Lebanese group Hezbollah.

"This significant discovery marks yet another disturbing incident in which relentless Iranian actions are attempting to undermine security and stability within Bahrain and the wider region," police Maj. Gen. Tariq Al Hassan said. "The sophistication of terrorist-related incidents in Bahrain has increased markedly during 2015, and the professionalism with which these materials are manufactured, concealed and deployed is a clear indication of international support and sponsorship."

Iranian officials could not be immediately reached early Thursday morning. They previously have denied being involved in attacks in Bahrain.

Bahrain has faced low-level unrest for more than four years, sparked by widespread 2011 protests among the country's Shiite majority demanding greater political rights from the Sunni-led monarchy.

In July, a bombing killed two coppers and maimed six in Sitra, south of Manama. Police Sherlocks say five suspects incarcerated

for that attack are connected to Iran's Revolutionary Guard, as well as the Iranian-backed Hezbollah. Police said a "terrorist blast" in late August killed one police officer and maimed six people.

As part of the campaign, Saudi-led naval forces have imposed a near-blockade to prevent weapons supplies from reaching the Houthis, resulting in long delays and mandatory searches for shippers in the region.

A coalition statement said 14 Iranian sailors were detained on the boat, which was carrying 18 anti-armoured Concourse shells, 54 anti-tank shells, shell-battery kits, firing guidance systems, launchers and binoculars' batteries.

"The Command of the Coalition ... foiled an attempt to smuggle weapons destined to the Houthi militias, on an Iranian fishing boat," the statement said, adding the vessel was seized on Saturday some 150 miles off Salalah in southern Oman.

Package bombs kill at least seven in southern China
[Globe & Mail] More than a dozen explosions killed at least seven people in southern China on Wednesday only an hour before workers went home for a major Chinese holiday. The "massive" blasts came from package bombs sent to 13 public places, including a hospital, local government office, shopping mall, prison, disease control center, vegetable market, and a supermarket.

Local police quickly said terrorism was not to blame, calling it a "criminal" matter and saying they had a 33-year-old suspect, with the surname of Wei. But the coordinated attacks, which came just before the start of the National Day holidays, wounded at least 50 and left wide-scale destruction.

Most of the explosions hit Liucheng, a county in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. One also hit nearby Liuzhuo, a historic city frequented by tourists.

Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
seven for life for planning serial kabooms that killed nearly 200 people in the port city of Mumbai in 2006.

Defense lawyer, Abdul Wahab Khan, told news hounds outside the specially convened court in Mumbai on Wednesday that the 12 men were convicted of murder, conspiracy and waging war against the country.

Khan also noted that all convicts have decided to appeal against the verdict at the Bombay High Court, adding, "We still believe they have been framed and the court has relied on confessions and not on mitigating evidence."

Some defendants said they were tortured by Indian police seeking to extract confessions.

Reacting to the verdict, Mahendra Pitale, who lost his left hand during one of the kabooms, said the verdict would bring some relief to the families who lost their loved ones.

"Many families lost their breadwinners that day and this judgement brings some amount of relief," Pitale added.

On July 11, 2006, seven bombs went kaboom! within 15 minutes on packed commuter trains during the evening rush hour in Mumbai. The bombs were packed into seven pressure cookers and put in bags.

The serial bombings claimed the lives of at least 189 people and injured more than 800.

With the help of US-coalition Arclight airstrikes, the large scale operation began around 7 am, said Rudaw news hound Sangar Abdulrahman at the scene of the offensive. It resulted in the liberation of Garra Heights, a strategic position west of Kirkuk,

"So far, there are no festivities with the ISIS murderous Moslems, and the coalition Arclight airstrikes managed to destroy two boom-mobiles of the three cars that ISIS prepared to attack Peshmerga," Abdulrahman said.

Bapir Sheikh Wasani, commander of Peshmerga 2nd brigade, told Rudaw: "There are many planted mines in the nine villages. We expect a confrontation and we are well prepared to fight and announce victory in the coming hours."

ISIS members involved in the offensive took to social media to amass support and ask for prayers.

"Prayers for your brothers in Kirkuk. There is a massive bombardment," read one Tweet, by Abu Talha Ansari.

The military operation is considered the third phase launched by Peshmerga in the region. Coalition warplanes have been targeting the ISIS strongholds for many days.

Palestinian man held after trying to stab soldier
[IsraelTimes] Attack outside settlement of Einav may mark latest in spate of stabbing attempts in West Bank

Paleostinian was tossed in the slammer
Please don't kill me!
early Thursday near the northern West Bank settlement of Einav after allegedly attempting to stab an IDF soldier.

The man reportedly approached soldiers at a roadblock with a knife in his hand.

Conflicting reports suggest a soldier may have been very lightly hurt in the ensuing altercation.

The Paleostinian man was also hurt in the incident, but was treated by a Paleostinian Red Islamic Thingy team before being transferred by the soldiers to the security services for interrogation.
Sounds like the local authorities were happy to get rid of him.
Violent demonstrations have been common in the West Bank and Jerusalem in recent days as tensions have flared around the Temple Mount.

Two Thai border cops slain in ambush
[Bangkok Post] Two Thai border patrol policemen were slain during an ambush by militants on the bank of the Sungai Kolok River in Narathiwat province late Wednesday morning. The attack occurred when the pair were traveling on a motorcycle to gather information on insurgent movements after the Muslim festival Hari Raya Aidiladha.

In Tak Bai district, on a road beside the river, armed men hiding in roadside forest opened fire at them. Their motorcycle slid to the side of the road and the two policemen fell onto coils of barbed wire. The militants emerged from hiding and continued shooting, killing them both.

Al-Qaeda bombs Kurdish district in Aleppo, killing nine civilians
[ARA] Islamist bully boyz of al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli sh-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
Front (al-Qaeda's Syria affiliate) on Wednesday bombed residential buildings in the Sheikh Maksud neighborhood in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo, local sources reported.

At least nine non-combatants were killed and dozens more maimed in the Kurdish district of Sheikh Maksud under the heavy mortar fire of Nusra hard boys.

"The shells caused the destruction of several houses and the death of at least nine civilians, including two children," local civil rights activist Ahmed Simo told ARA News in Aleppo.

"The Nusra-led shelling, which continued until Wednesday midnight, has also caused dozens of injuries among civilians. Our teams are still searching for survivors under the rubble of the bombed houses," Simo reported.

This comes three days after Kurdish forces of the People's Protection Units (YPG) regained the district from Nusra bully boyz and allied Salafist tough guys.

On Saturday, festivities broke out between the YPG and Salafist tough guys in the vicinity of the Sheikh Maksud district in northeastern Aleppo after Nusra bully boyz attacked Kurdish security checkpoints in the district. Nusra and allied Islamists had also targeted residential areas in the district, killing at least four Kurdish civilians.

On Sunday, the YPG Media Center told ARA News that their forces have regained the Kurdish-majority district of Sheikh Maksud after causing heavy losses in the ranks of the Salafist tough guys.

Rooshun bombers strike ISIS targets
By Chris Covert
Rantbrug.com

Russian bombers attacked several ground targets belonging to The Islamic State in the mountains of northern Syria Wednesday, according to Russian language reports.

According to a news account which appeared in RIA Novosti, the Russian Air Force contingent in Syria flew a total of 20 sorties in the air operation. According to Russian Ministry of Defense spokesman General Major Igor Konashenkov, supply dumps for ammunition and fuel, communications centers and headquarters and control centers, as well as troop concentrations were struck.

The air strikes were launched using data supplied by the Syrian Army general staff. According to General Konashenkov, all targets were destroyed.

According a Russian language news account in vesti.ru, two SU-24 bombers were used in the bombing attack near Hama, 213 kilometers north of Damascus.

The air raid comes 24 hours after Russian president Vladimir Putin was granted authorization to use his air force to support the Syrian Army by the Duma, Russia's parliament. The air raids were launched less than 24 hours after the arrival at Latakia on Syria's west coast of six Russian Air force SU-34 twin seat, twin engine bombers, the most advanced aircraft of its type in Russia's inventory.

According to Putin's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, Russia's aid to the Syrian Army is expected to be temporary, but he did not specify how long Russian planes would be used to assist the Syrian Army in presumably upcoming offensive operations.

The announcement clearly signals that Russia intends to provide not just bombing raids in rearward areas held by ISIS, but will coordinate with the Syrians in assisting ground operations.

According to a separate news account, the Russian Ministry of Defense is planning to expand their combat aircraft deployment to between 40 and 60 aircraft, roughly a bomber division, along with a Russian Army detachment consisting of two rifle battalions deployed to guard them. The base to be used will likely be the airbase at Latakia.

Quoting a Russian academic, Dr. Konstantin Sivkov said that two ground interdiction squadrons, probably SU-25s, two bomber squadrons of SU-24s, and one or two fighter squadrons, likely SU-30 air superiority aircraft will be deployed as a mixed air division. The new deployment could reach 72 combat aircraft. Additionally, Russian Air Force long range detachments based in Crimea could be used in upcoming operations. Those aircraft could include Su-24s, and any number of other long range aviation including TU-95 and TU-22m bombers.

The newly deployed SU-34s are likely to become a component of the Syrian deployment, according to Dr. Sivkov.

#11  Russia, Iran, China, Syria, with Iraq to soon join, Hezbollah controlled Lebanon, Yemen in Doubt, the oil route to Europe now controlled by the new Axis powers, gee it looks like to good old days of geo-politics are back. Russia gets more influence on energy needs of Europe, is turning the southeastern corner of Ukraine, frightening the Baltics, and the ChiComs get friendly oil prices and the KSA/Jordanian/Israel nexus of surrounded and intimidated. Seems Champ and his national security team are true morons. 70 years of work in the ME upset in mere months by this utter fool and his minions, and thanks in no small part to ValJar, Huma, and the other penetration agents I'll warrant.

#12  The only video I saw that included bomb impact showed dumb bombs missing a compound. 3 impacts were shown hitting a field and I suspect a 4th impact (stick of 4 is most likely) was outside the frame.

Bomb impacts at 31 sec.
