Dan Crenshaw: Trump Wall ‘Crucial' to Border Security
[Breitbart] Representative-elect and former Navy SEAL Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) expressed support for building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, stating it is a "crucial part of any kind of border security."

A partial transcript is as follows:

BRIAN KILMEADE: Dan, help us out. You are in a border state. Is a wall Medieval or is a wall effective?

REP.-ELECT DAN CRENSHAW: The wall is effective. It’s a crucial part of any kind of border security. I spent a whole career infiltrating places, and you know what? When we come up upon a wall, it matters. We have to plan around it. It’s a mitigating factor if you’re trying to enter or cross from point A to point B. So, that typical argument we hear from Democrats that ’it doesn’t make sense, it’s too expensive, it’s medieval,’ I would like to hear some reasoning behind that. It’s not so expensive. It’s .1 percent of our entire federal budget... that’s what $5 billion ends up being. It’s really not about the money for them, and we also know that the president and Mike Pence, they offered about $2.5 billion as well... Democrats are refusing to budge on this. For them, it’s about semantics. They hate the word ’wall.’ They just hate it, right? And for some reason they don’t value this idea of border security. They don’t value the sanctity of our borders, and that’s really problematic, especially for a border state like Texas. We’re on the front lines down there.

AINSLEY EARHARDT: The president tweet ’let’s make a deal.’ He invited both sides to come into the White House. He wants to negotiate. Do you think Democrats will budge at all? What do you anticipate the future is going to look like?

REP.-ELECT CRENSHAW:
It’s hard to say at this point, honestly. Again, I don’t know what there reasoning is. I hope they do. We have shown some willingness to negotiate on this. But again, we always have to question what is the underlying reason here? I think what they really want to do is score points against the president. He made a campaign promise and they want to score points against him by destroying that campaign promise. But, it’s at the expense of our security. We saw this migrant caravan coming in last night. You know what stopped them? A wall.

#1  Naysayer Ann Coulter says Trump will fold on the border wall. I hope he does not. He made a campaign promise and I'm hoping he delivers. If Trump and the Pubs fold or don't find a way to build the wall, IMHO they will be in trouble.

The Dems are just being obstructionists and ought to be shoveling coal for Beelzebub. Some might argue they already are.

#2  The real key is the opposition's devotion to the abdication of US sovereignty, devaluation of US citizenship, and unchecked invasion by foreigners & ultimately dissolution of the US. "Open borders / No borders" is part of the plan.

#3  No border means subsidised migration.

The globalised pick up a lot of that effective subsidy.

Behind the El Chapo trial: what's been left unsaid in a New York courtroom
BLUF:
[Guardian] Also excluded was an attempt by the defence to ask prosecution witnesses about "Operation Fast and Furious", a project run by the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to allow weapons to enter Mexico illegally, through cooperating straw-buyers, in hopes of catching their final recipients.

Of the 2,000 guns allowed to "walk" between 2007 and 2011, only 665 were recovered, one of them in Guzmán’s’s lair in 2014 ‐ but none of this can feature at trial.

The evidence about money has been detailed when it is "back in Mexico", but coy when it moves beyond there. Martínez flew planes loaded with cash ‐ between $8m and $10m from Tijuana three times a month ‐ and hauled a Samsonite case filled with $10m to "a Mexico City bank" monthly. Cash deposits are described hidden beneath beds and even underwater.

But there the money-trail ends, though the US Senate’s and Department of Justice’s own investigations have established that hundreds of millions proceeded through the Wachovia and HSBC banks north of the border ‐ these play no part in evidence hitherto.

New Documents Suggest The Steele Dossier Was A Deliberate Setup For Trump
[Federalist] A trove of recently released documents sheds further light on the scope and logistics of the information operation designed to sabotage an American election. Players include the press, political operatives from both parties, and law enforcement and intelligence officials. Their instrument was the Steele dossier, first introduced to the American public two years ago.

A collection of reports compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele, the dossier is now engraved in contemporary U.S. history. First marketed as bedrock evidence that Donald Trump colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election, the dossier’s legitimacy took a hit after reports showed the Hillary Clinton campaign paid for the work.

The revelation that the dossier was used to secure a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant on Trump campaign adviser Carter Page compromised the integrity of the investigation the FBI had opened on Page and three other Trump associates by the end of July 2016. Nonetheless, that same probe continues today as the special counsel investigation.

The dossier plays a central role in Robert Mueller’s probe. In the unredacted portions of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s memo outlining Mueller’s scope are allegations that Trump adviser Paul Manafort colluded with Russian government officials interfering in the 2016 race. That claim is found in no other known document but the dossier. It is unclear whether further dossier allegations are in the redacted portions of the scope memo.

Further, with Mueller in charge, the dossier-won warrant on Page was renewed a third, and final, time in June 2017. It expired in September, when confidential human source Stefan Halper reportedly broke off regular communications with Page.

#2  The dossier was made up of whole cloth by Russian agents and ultimately paid for by Hillary Clinton. I'm sure the Russians couldn't believe their luck when ex-Brit agent Steele offered to pay hard currency for disinformatsiya. Such is the dishonesty of the entire Clinton-corrupted Democrat-media establishment.

[Ace of Spades] The Quotes of The Day

Quote I
"I hope that members of parliament, members of the government will see the fireworks tonight, will listen to the soundtrack and will reflect on what sort of country they want to live in post-March." London Mayor, Sadiq Khan

Quote II
"It’s a commission to study the issue of what was the economic impact of the work of slaves and how does it translate in the 21st Century. And what we want to do is to build a narrative, a story of the facts and out of that be able to access how we repair some of the damage," Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX)

Quote III
"Israel will not be part of a body that continually rewrites history, including by erasing the Jewish connection to Jerusalem. UNESCO is manipulated by Israel’s enemies and continually singles out the Jewish state for condemnation." Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon

#1  Per Quote II, Long term I would think the Chinese building the transnational railroads had a bigger long term economic impact on America than the actual slaves working in the fields ever did.

In fact it could be said that dependence upon slavery kept the south from industrializing as the North did and sealed their fate.

#2  kept the south from industrializing as the North did
After the Civil War ended, some well meaning capitalists from the north did go south, bought up some property & tried to start businesses. This was very poorly received by sore southern losers. The would-be businessmen often came to very bad ends, along with their employees, some of whom were black. The South continued to dig its own grave even when they could have done better.

Ireland gains over 4,500 Brexit-related jobs in 2018 - agency
DUBLIN (Reuters) - Ireland last year gained more than 4,500 jobs stemming from Britain’s decision to leave the European Union, the Irish foreign investment agency said on Thursday.

More than 55 firms, including Bank of America (BAC.N) and Morgan Stanley (MS.N), confirmed new or expanded operations in Ireland during 2018, the IDA said in its annual report.

In October the agency said asset management and investment firms made up about half of the more than 100 finance companies that had applied to set up or extend operations in Ireland as a result of Brexit.

Britain is due to leave the EU on March 29 this year. It is still trying to agree with the EU the terms of the divorce and will only begin negotiations on a future trading relationship after Brexit.

Mark Felt and the 'Collusion' Conspiracy
[American Thinker] One strange element of the attempted coup against Donald Trump is that no one involved has brought up the name of W. Mark Felt. Or perhaps that’s not so strange.

For the benefit of all you millennials out there, Watergate was the outcome of a burglary pulled at the D.C. hotel complex of that name targeting the Democratic National Committee offices during the 1972 presidential election campaign. The burglars were caught and swiftly traced back to rogue White House staffers. No involvement by Nixon was ever proven ‐ and was unlikely in any case ‐ but in an effort to protect his staff, a collection of sideshow habitués ranging from the simply goofy to the truly deranged, Nixon instigated a coverup.

A two-year uproar ensued, which the national media, led by the Washington Post, blew up into a full-scale, national-historical constitutional crisis. As legend has it, Nixon was about to tear the Constitution into shreds when a pair of WaPo reporters, Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, rode into town on white steeds and with the help of info from a shadowy gnome known only as "Deep Throat" (after a notorious porno flick of the day), blew the conspiracy wide open and sent Nixon packing. That’s the legend, anyway, handed down for decades since, a triumph of all right-thinking folk and a high point of postwar liberalism

#2  Woodward and Bernstein became gullible, easily manipulated stooges. The rest of the Washington elite come off little better, and one of the foundational myths of post-70s “left-liberalism” disappears in a puff of smoke.

Some things never change.

Watergate looks amateurish and on a very small scale in comparison to the vastness of what had been going on in past few administrations. The thing about Watergate was that it was brazen, criminal and immoral but small potatoes. The more I dig into the swamp the deeper and deeper it seems to be. The shutdown of the government seems to be a good thing. Maybe it should be on a permanent basis.

Iraq
What more can Iraq do against ISIS in Syria?
[Rudaw] Iraq's new Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi has declared his country is considering further action against ISIS across the border in Syria. What exact action Baghdad might take, aside from additional Arclight airstrikes, remains unclear.

"If any negative development takes place in Syria it will affect us," the Iraqi premier said on December 30.

"We have a 600km border with Syria and ISIS is there," he added, using the Arabic acronym for the group.

Star Parker: ' Some Food Stamp Recipients Too Busy ‘Watching Porn' Instead of Finding Jobs
[MEDIATE] During her appearance on Fox & Friends Wednesday morning, Star Parker, Founder and President of Center for Urban Renewal and Education, said one of the issues with some people using the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is how they have very little incentive to work because they are too busy watching T.V. and pornography.

Parker said the shame of being on food stamps has been taken away since they have become "like an EBT swipe card, it’s a debit card" and so there is even less incentive to get off of it. She complimented President Donald Trump’s administration for telling SNAP recipients they have to find work within three months.

Top 10 Predictions for 2019, A Year That Will Make 2018 Look Sane
[Townhall] 10. Out of Afghanistan Too: Yeah, our 17-year war will largely end as we bring most of the boys back home. As always, Trump will make his opponents go nuts. What will be a big part of the fun is watching the liberal media that slobbered over Obama’s tragic, premature Iraq pullout posing as hawks over this long-overdue strategic rethink.

9. Michael Cohen Will Join A Prison Gang

8. Tackling Monster Tech: The Silicon Valley titans have gotten too big for their skinny jeans, imagining that they should wield unchallenged power over what we can and cannot say and think. I guess they thought parroting the term "private companies" was going to protect them from conservative pushback, both at the federal and state level. Nope. I’m not a fan of regulation, but I’m less of a fan of being bossed around by a bunch of Bay Area leftists. Look for all sorts of fun initiatives to curb their power.

7. Lindsey Graham, American Hero:

6. Hollywood Will Continue Its Ritual Suicide

5. Candidates and Candidon’ts: Some Democrats we thought might be 2020 contenders will either not run (Felonia Milhous von Pantsuit, Old Joe Biden) or run and stumble at the gate (Tex Kennedy O’Rourke, Big Chief Warren, Nuke ’Em Swalwell). Kamala Harris will come out of 2019 the frontrunner. Pray for America.

4. It’s the Stupid, Economy: The establishment will do everything it can to slow down the Trump economy going into 2020. The fact is that the nearly full employment that has helped so many Americans puts pressure on the wealthy Democrat donor class to pay workers more, and they hate that. Nancy Pelosi’s House will do what it can to wreck things, with the Fed’s help, but the economy will do surprisingly well next year.

3. Justice Roberts, the Enleftening: Look for John Roberts to go Full Souter on us in 2019.
Taken over by the spirit of Ruth Bader Ginzburg?
2. Another Justice, And Full-Scale War:

1. Mueller’s Crock and Impeachment: Righteous Integrity Bob and his pack of Democrats will drop their report next year, and it will show no collusion but hint at all sorts of nefarious stuff. MSNBC will go 24/7; patriots will shrug. But that doesn’t matter. No matter what, the Democrats are going to impeach Trump. But then the Senate has to remove him and that won’t happen. There are just not 20 or so GOP senators willing to destroy their careers and their party. This cheesy coup will actually boomerang and help the president. Trump thrives in this sort of octagon deathmatch stuff - remember how they counted him out when the clutching the kitty video dropped? The independents will be annoyed that the obstructionist Dems are not willing to work with the GOP and turn rightward heading into 2020. If you’re going to strike at the king, you really ought to make sure you don’t miss!
