'producing a handgun' is typical journalist weasel-wording. Did he point the gun at the officers? that's a threat. then say it. Did he just show them the gun, pulling up his shirt or something? another threat. Say it.
'producing a handgun' makes it sound like he wished a gun into existence.

He pulled a handgun, but the journalist thought it would set a higher tone to say “produced”.
[ToloNews] An explosion occurred on Friday evening in the Aino area in Paghman district, west of Kabul city, targeting a vehicle in which family members of writer and analyst Assadullah Walwalji were traveling, police said.
Walwaji's wife and his daughter were killed in the attack.
Six people were also maimed in the attack, including four members of Walwaji's family.
Walwalji himself was not traveling in the vehicle.
No group has grabbed credit.
The attack has sparked widespread criticism from Afghans on social media, who blamed the security agencies for their inability to prevent such incidents.

It’s not like the UN-approved Government of National Accord has any use for the stash of Khadaffy gold they found, so they might as well share it with their generous friends from Turkey.

[AnNahar] French police carried out raids in the eastern city of Dijon on Friday after several nights of violence blamed on members of its Chechen community, officials said.
"The police operations are aimed at finding weapons, ammunition and narcotics," said Bernard Schmeltz, the government's top official for the region.
Around 140 officers took part in the raids, which came a day after police detained six from Dijon's large Chechen population on suspicions they took part in the violence.
From Friday to Monday, the city was rocked by festivities and vehicle burnings after an assault this month on a 16-year-old Chechen boy, which prompted other members of the community to stage reprisal raids.
Chechens reportedly travelled to Dijon from all over La Belle France and even from neighbouring Belgium and Germany to take part.
Scenes of the unrest, including men brandishing what appear to be assault rifles as well as handguns and clubs, shocked the country.
Scenes of the unrest, including men brandishing what appear to be assault rifles as well as handguns and clubs, shocked the country and prompted questions about whether security forces had taken sufficient measures to stop the fighting.
The national government eventually sent in police reinforcements to quell the violence.
The raids Friday were carried out in the gritty Gresilles district that is home to many people originally from North Africa and where many of the festivities took place, and in two other neighbourhoods.
Dijon prosecutor Eric Mathais said this week that Sherlocks were trying to identify the participants.
No new festivities have occurred since Tuesday, and the father of the teenager who was assaulted has pleaded for calm.
I dunno if the statute was "harming" anyone, but Washington at the head of a column of Continentals with bayonets fixed sure did. Ask the Hessians.
[PortlandTribune] "We know there are problematic statues and other pieces of art in the city's collection," said the spokeswoman, Heather Nelson Kent. "Some of these pieces really harm people."
"We really want to have a conversation about how to address the issues that those pieces of art raise," Nelson Kent said. "Do we remove things? We've removed things. We've moved things. We can take things out of the collection. We can reinterpret things."

Very sad. I fear we may be witnessing our doom.

New penalty by law. Topple a statue never be able to handle pieces of paper or coin with representation of white people for the rest of your life. Caught with it, it can be legally removed from you by any citizen.

This is about escalating provocation. The trick is to separate the useful idiot/zealots who have nothing else to do, from the insurgents cadres. They want a bloodbath to escalate the public’s eagerness to make it a all go away and just let Biden win. What follows is clear to those of us here who know history. What we need are counterrevolutionary policies and behaviors to save our Republic. While I would love a White Lives Matter demonstration swamping that crappy Chinese sculpture in DC, I am not sure the ensuing violence would be honesty portrayed as initiated by the BLM intifada.

It absolutely would not be. Remember the “Unite the Right” march in Charlottesville in 2017, when President Trump was castigated for not repudiating the armed neo-Nazis who joined in? Only it turns out the neo-Nazis were actually the Redneck Revolt/John Brown Gun Club Antifa group from North Carolina pretending to be Nazis, according to Project Veritas.
[Aljazeera] Protesters brought down Confederate statues as anti-racism rallies were held across the United States to mark the Juneteenth holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the country.
Demonstrations were held in Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Washington on Friday against a backdrop of weeks of protests fuelled by the deaths of African Americans at the hands of police.

In a stark illustration of the tensions roiling the nation, President Donald Trump issued a solemn White House statement commemorating Juneteenth, while also threatening protesters on Twitter ahead of his controversial rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Saturday.
Juneteenth marks the day - June 19, 1865 - when a Union general arrived in Galveston, Texas and informed slaves that they were free, two months after the Civil War had ended and two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln had issued the Emancipation Proclamation.
The date is generally celebrated with prayer services and family gatherings, but comes this year amid national soul-searching over America's legacy of racial injustice.

No doubt desecration of union soldiers who died to free the slaves are next.

They also defaced the status of former slave Miguel Cervantes.
It ain't about slavery. It's about hatred for civilization.

[WashingtonTimes] Police in Portland, Oregon, say they cleared an area in the city’s Pearl District early Thursday when demonstrators tried to set up an "autonomous zone" similar to what protesters have enacted in Seattle.
Police declared a civil disturbance and unlawful assembly at 5:30 a.m. after hundreds of demonstrators tried to gather and camp outside what they believe to be Mayor Ted Wheeler’s residence.
Once the declaration was announced police said the approximately 50 people remaining in the area left. Authorities say one person was arrested.
"We’re very pleased with the successful outcome this morning," Portland Police Lt. Tina Jones said.
In Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood protesters have cordoned off several blocks near a cop shoppe. Police have largely retreated from the area and city officials say they continue to communicate with protest leaders, who say they are maintaining the space peacefully.
The "Capitol Hill Occupied Protest" zone has been criticized by President Donald Trump ...His ancestors didn't own any slaves... and others.
Thursday morning Wheeler said he didn’t want any similar protest zone to happen in Portland.
"I do not want an autonomous zone set up in Portland," he told news hounds. "I want to state unequivocally - I absolutely do not support that, and I do believe it’s a distraction from the larger movement, which is to support and uplift black voices in our community."
Large groups of protesters have gathered in Portland nightly since George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis.
Portland’s City Commission has also made June 19 a paid city holiday to honor Juneteenth. Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when the Union army brought word of the Emancipation Proclamation to enslaved people in Texas. It is celebrated as the end of slavery in the United States.
According to the news report, the Pacific Northwest Youth Liberation Front called the area the Patrick Kimmons Autonomous Zone, named after Kimmons, who was shot and killed by Portland police in October 2018.
The group used "dumpsters, pallets and boards" to establish the zone and prevent anyone from driving into the area.
Protesters demanded $50 million to be cut from the Portland Police Bureau’s budget. On Wednesday, the city council approved a $16 million cut from the police budget.
[Jpost] Coordinated blasts kill four in Pakistain, including soldiers.
Three consecutive explosions claimed by a little-known separatist group killed four people including two soldiers in Pakistain's southern province of Sindh on Friday, officials said.
At least a dozen people were also injured.Shadowy secessionist organization the Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army, which wants the province to break from the Pak federation, said it carried out the attacks.
One of the blasts was in Bloody Karachi ...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous... , Pakistain's largest city and the capital of Sindh, where a civilian died and eight others including a paramilitary soldier were maimed.
That explosion was outside a center for distribution of government cash handouts, and police believe the target was a vehicle of the Sindh Rangers paramilitary force parked outside.
The second blast was reported in Ghotki district, 500 km north of Karachi, where two Rangers soldiers died along with a passerby, local police chief Furrukh Ali told Rooters.
The third blast took place in Sindh's Larkana district, where no casualties were reported.
The Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army has carried out low-intensity attacks in the past, including blowing up train tracks, but its separatist fight has been less violent than that of neighboring Balochistan ...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it... province.
"Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army claims the responsibility of Karachi, Ghotki and Larkana attacks," it tweeted, without giving more details.
The Rangers, a wing of the Pakistain Army, have been deployed around Pakistain and played a prominent role in crackdowns on holy warrior and criminals in Karachi.
Sindh's Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah ordered an inquiry into Friday's violence.
[AlAhram] One Ottoman Turkish soldier died on Friday in festivities with "terrorists" from the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the operation area in northern Iraq, the defence ministry said in a statement.
The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire... launched an air and ground offensive against Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq on Wednesday, calling it Operation Claw-Tiger.
The defence ministry said the Ottoman Turkish soldier was maimed "in festivities with turbans in the Operation Claw-Tiger area" and died in hospital later, without providing details where exactly the festivities were.
The murderous Moslems' targets across the border came under "intense" Ottoman Turkish fire, it added.
The Ottoman Turkish military regularly carries out operations against PKK hideouts in southeast Turkey and its rear bases across the border.
[Rudaw] At least four civilians have been reported killed as Ottoman Turkish warplanes bombard areas east of Duhok Friday, near The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...Qatar's satrapy in Asia Minor... 's border with the Kurdistan Region, Washin Salman, the head of Shiladze town has told Rudaw.
The local official told Rudaw that in two separate strikes, three men aged between 30 to 40 were killed, two in Shiladze and one in Kani Masi, located in the Amedi region of Duhok province, near the border with Turkey. An additional civilian death was reported later in the day, by local officials.
Sarbast Sabri, head of the Kani Masi subdistrict, confirmed the four civilian deaths, listing Amin Salih, Azad Mahdi, Abbas Adam, and Denan Omar, as those killed in the Friday's strikes.
The Kurdistan Region’s border areas have come under bombardment by Ottoman Turkish and Iranian strikes in recent days as part of a combined aerial and ground-based assault aimed at targeting suspected positions of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the region.
The Ottoman Turkish Defense Ministry tweeted a video claiming it killed three PKK fighters in an Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... on Friday.
Shiladze town, in the Kurdistan Region’s northern Duhok province, is also the site of a Ottoman Turkish military base that was the site of heated protests in early 2019 when locals accused Turkey of launching air strikes that killed several civilians in the area.
For decades, both the PKK and Ottoman Turkish forces have set up military installations along the Turkey-Iraq border. The rough, mountainous region is home mostly to poor farmers who struggle to earn a living. These mountains are also home to an untold number of guerrillas of the PKK, who for years have used the Qandil Mountains area as a base of operations. Turkey regularly carries out air and ground attacks against the outlawed PKK, which it says maintains bases in northern Iraq.

[SYRIAHR] "Ansar al-Din" front, which operates under the banner of "Fa’ethbato" Operation Room which comprises jihadi factions accused of "pledging allegiance to al-Qaeda", issued a statement yesterday holding Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else ...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State... responsible for arresting the ex-HTS commander, known as "Abu Salah al-Uzbaki". It is worth noting that "Abu Salah" has dissented from HTS and joined later "Ansar al-Din" front.
The statement, of which the Syrian Observatory obtained a copy, says "at such difficult time and at a time when Moslems’ hearts breaking for seeing the occupier’s heavy gears invading our beloved liberated land, HTS comes to surprise us by arresting the brother ’Abu Salah al-Uzbaki’ as well as two other brothers escorting him.
In obedience to Allah who commands us to deal others in a friendly manner, and after acting deaf towards our repeated appeals, we call them (HTS affiliates) to actually apply the teachings of religion and to respond promptly to hold a sharia commission for taking up that case, so that all will avoid resorting to power and violence against violators. We will also protect ourselves and our families in the liberated land form the possible repercussions of oppression, aggression and disobeying Allah and the prophet. Finally, we recommend ourselves and our brothers to adhere to justice, truth and rightness.”
