Nigerian Troops Foil ISWAP Terrorists’ Attacks, Rescue Abducted Passengers In Borno

Troops of the Nigerian military deployed for Operation 'Hadin Kai' on Saturday foiled ambush attacks on some motorists and commuters in the Bama axis of the North-East, PRNigeria reports.

The attacks, which occurred on two highways in Borno State, were staged by fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP).

It was learnt that the terrorists had first set up multiple checkpoints at Banki Junction on Saturday to aid the abduction of civilians in the Bama local government area of the state.

PRNigeria learnt from a top military intelligence commander that mobile troops of 151 Task Force Battalion, on patrol within the general area, foiled the insurgents' operation immediately after responding to a distress call.

According to the commander, the ISWAP fighters who had held some civilians captive on the road, fled on sighting approaching troops.

The terrorists left their victims behind, he said.

He added that the rear screen of a commercial vehicle was damaged by gunshots, but there was no loss of life.

Similarly, troops of 152 Battalion, on a separate patrol along Bula Yobe-Darel Jamel Road on Saturday, responded to a distress call about another ISWAP attack on motorists.

Meanwhile, in another development, seven Nigerian soldiers survived bomb attacks when they ran into an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), planted by ISWAP terrorists along Maiduguri-Damboa Road.

An intelligence source said the troops were on a long-range patrol to protect commuters when the incident occurred.

"The soldiers from the 134 Special Forces Battalion 7 Division Garrison Maiduguri were escorting commuters when their vehicle stepped on the IED planted along the route Delwa-Bulabulin, Damboa Local Government Area on Saturday, February 12, 2022.

"No fatality was recorded during the incident but 7 soldiers sustained injuries and were evacuated to Maiduguri for prompt medical attention."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
SDF arrests alleged ISIS financier in Raqqa
[Rudaw] The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on Sunday announced that they had arrested a financier in the former Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) capital of Raqqa, who confessed to funding the terrorist organization in a video.

The arrestee, named Mohammed Ahmed Kurz, hails from the city of al-Bab in northern Syria. He says he was coerced under threat to supply ISIS with funds, usually sent from nearby The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
and the rebel-held Syrian province of Idlib.

"I started working with Ibrahim [Kurz's associate] in Raqqa in 2021. He tasked me with receiving cheques from Idlib and Turkey and distributing them to ISIS cells in al-Hol camp," said Kurz.

Around 56,000 people live in the notorious al-Hol camp in Hasaka, northeast Syria (Rojava), the majority of whom are women and kiddies accused of being affiliated with ISIS.

He mentioned that Ibrahim would smuggle explosives from the aforementioned areas and use them to threaten large merchants in Raqqa to supply ISIS for money.

"Ibrahim had planted a bomb under the building in which I resided, and this was one of the bombs he threatened merchants with to fund ISIS," he added.

However,
it's easy to be generous with someone else's money...
the SDF claims that Kurz himself led a blackmailing ring in Raqqa, forcing people to finance ISIS cells. The Kurdish-led force says that Kurz was arrested as he received an bomb that was to be detonated in front of a shop in the city.

Combing operations against ISIS continue in Hasakah

TEL-TAMR, Syria (North Press) – The SDF combing operations in search of ISIS militants are continuing. There is no specific timetable for ending the security operations, Hussein Salmo, commander of the Military Council of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Jazira region, said on Sunday.

Since last month, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have started extensive combing campaigns in the city of Hasakah and its countryside, following the attack by ISIS militants on al-Sina’a prison, which houses about five thousand members of ISIS, in Hasakah’s Ghweran neighborhood, northeast Syria.

Extensive combing operations within the area have been conducted by the security forces, in search of ISIS members whom the SDF believes participated in the attack on the prison, and a number of them may have escaped from prison during the attack.

“The combing operations are carried out to maintain the security and stability of the region. These operations include the neighborhoods of Hasakah city and its countryside, which extends to the town of Tel-Tamr in the north,” Salmo said.

The commander of the Military Council said that “during the 20-day combing operations, many ISIS mercenaries and its sleeper cells were arrested and many weapons and explosive materials they had were seized.”

“So far, the results of the combing operations are positive,” he added.

Many ISIS sleeper cells, who were on the wanted list of SDF for years and were hiding in the area, were arrested, Salmo said.

“The combing operations are continuing with no specific timetable to finish,” the commander of the Military Council stressed.
