New Orleans mom, Iraq war vet pulls gun on man trying to enter her car: 'Locked and loaded'
[FOX] A Louisiana mom and Air Force veteran pulled a gun on a man who tried to get into her car while she was sitting in gridlocked traffic with her 2-year-old son.

"You shouldn't have to navigate your own city like a war zone. It's un-American," Charise Taylor, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, told WDSU. "The crime is out of control and it's terrifying. At this point, having to use the same tactics in an American city that you use in Iraq and Afghanistan simply to navigate through the city, it's scary, and I'm not the only mom feeling this way."

Taylor said she was on her way to pick up her husband on Friday in New Orleans when she got stuck in traffic on Interstate 10. While navigating the backup, a group of people in a truck motioned to her to let them into her lane. She let them in, but soon after a man came up to her passenger door and began pulling on the handle.

"So, as he comes up he's close, and he's pretty aggressive trying to get the car door open, makes eye contact with me, he's still trying to get it open a couple times," Taylor said.

She picked up her gun and recalled warning him: "It’s locked and loaded."

The suspect ran off and she was not forced to fire her weapon - though she said she was ready to do so in order to protect her son.

"The emotions honestly your body takes in a different form. I stayed in my body of course, but everything transformed. I'm trained to do this. I've gone to classes. I'm prior military. If I have to pull this trigger, that's what I have to do," Taylor said.

PJ O'Rourke, A Legendary Conservative Writer And Satirist, Dies At The Age Of 74
[DailyCaller] P.J. O'Rourke, a legendary American political satirist and journalist, died Tuesday at the age of 74 from lung cancer complications.

O'Rourke was the author of over 20 books, including two New York Times bestsellers, "Parliament of Whores," and "Give War a Chance." He was also the editor and chief of the former humor magazine "National Lampoon" from 1978 to 1980.

New York Post columnist John Podhoretz eulogized O'Rourke Tuesday, saying he was, "for a long time, the only cool conservative writer in America." Podhoretz remembered him as a kind man, and a great satirist and writer. He also wrote that O'Rourke "skewered clueless old leftists" with his sharp satire.

The vice president and spokeswoman of O'Rourke's publisher, Grove Atlantic, confirmed his death in a statement.

"Our dear friend and cherished Grove Atlantic author P. J. O'Rourke passed away this morning from complications of lung cancer," the statement reads.

Sandy Hook families reach settlement with gunmaker over school massacre
Setting a bad precedent, it seems to me.
[IsraelTimes] Families of nine victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting reach a $73 million settlement with US gunmaker Remington, in a landmark deal for a country plagued by campus massacres.

Twenty-six children and teachers were rubbed out at the elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, by 20-year-old gunman Adam Lanza.
...autistic with anxiety and depression, the child of a single mother who quit teaching to take care of him as he became increasingly incapable of dealing with the outside world and a father who had recently taken a new wife.
A "settlement agreement has been executed between the parties," says a notice from lawyers for the families.

Lanza was a 20-year-old with known developmental disabilities who lived at home with his mother when he carried out the attack. His mother, a gun enthusiast, had bought him an AR-15-style Bushmaster XM15-E2S semi-automatic rifle more than two years before the shooting. Lanza murdered his mother before attacking the school, and killed himself afterward.

The lawsuit alleged that Remington and the other two defendants are culpable because they knowingly marketed a military-grade weapon that is "grossly unsuited" for civilian use, yet had become the gun most used in mass shootings.

"When it came to the military looking for the best weapon, the most lethal weapon, the most destructive weapon and the weapon that could provide our soldiers... they chose the AR-15," Joshua Koskoff, a lawyer for the Sandy Hook families, tells a presser.

The same gun, he says, "was used not by a highly-trained soldier but by a deeply troubled kid, not on a battlefield abroad but in an elementary school at home, and not to preserve freedom, but to eviscerate them."

Seriously? Name one 'military' who uses the AR-15. You can't because only a fool would use the AR-15 in any 'military' organization. Not even Joe Biden himself is that stupid.

#5  From the New York Post: "Families of Sandy Hook victims settled their lawsuit Tuesday with Remington Arms, manufacturer of the AR-15 automatic gun used to kill 20 kids and 6 staff members in the 2012 massacre.
The nine families brought a class-action suit in 2014 against Remington Arms, which made the weapon used in the mass shooting claiming the gun-maker sought to sell the military-grade weapon to the mentally ill."
So much mis-information.

#11  Via Bearing Arms, the National Shooting Sports Foundation explains it was the insurance companies, not the defunct manufacturer:

The decision to settle in the Soto v. Bushmaster case was not made by a member of the firearms industry. The settlement was reached between the plaintiffs and the various insurance carriers that held policies with Remington Outdoor Company (ROC), which effectively no longer exists.

As part of bankruptcy court proceedings, the assets of ROC were sold at auction in September of 2020. Remington Outdoor Company, which owned the Bushmaster brand, effectively ceased to exist as a going concern. The lawsuit, however, continued against the estate of the Remington Outdoor Company, essentially ROC’s insurers and their insurance policies in effect at the time.

The settlement also does not alter the fundamental facts of the case. The plaintiffs never produced any evidence that Bushmaster advertising had any bearing or influence over Nancy Lanza’s decision to legally purchase a Bushmaster rifle, nor on the decision of murderer Adam Lanza to steal that rifle, kill his mother in her sleep, and go on to commit the rest of his horrendous crimes. We renew our sincere sympathy for the victims of this unspeakable tragedy and all victims of violence committed through the misusing of any firearm. But the fact remains that modern sporting rifles are the most popular rifle in America with over 20 million sold to law abiding Americans and rifles, of any kind, are exceedingly rarely used in crime.

The Connecticut Supreme Court wrote in its Soto v. Bushmaster (4-3) opinion, “[T]he plaintiffs allege that the defendants’ wrongful advertising magnified the lethality of the Sandy Hook massacre by inspiring Lanza or causing him to select a more efficiently deadly weapon for his attack. Proving such a causal link at trial may prove to be a Herculean task.” NSSF believes the Court incorrectly allowed this one claim to go forward to discovery. We remain confident ROC would have prevailed if this case proceeded to trial.

Finally, this settlement orchestrated by insurance companies has no impact on the strength and efficacy of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), which remains the law of the land. PLCAA will continue to block baseless lawsuits that attempt to blame lawful industry companies for the criminal acts of third parties.

[CNSnews] CDC: 40.5% of U.S. Babies Born in 2020 Had Unmarried Mothers; 42.0% Born on Medicaid

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported last week that there were 3,613,647 births registered in the United States in 2020 and that 1,464,121 of these—or 40.5 percent--were to unmarried mothers.

"The percentage of all births to unmarried women was 40.5% in 2020," said the CDC's "Births: Final Data for 2020" report.

The CDC also reported that 42.0% percent of births in the United States in 2020 were covered by government-funded Medicaid.

Among the 50 states, according to the report's Supplemental Table I-7, Mississippi had the highest percentage of babies born to unmarried mothers (55.8 percent).

It was followed by Louisiana (54.5 percent); New Mexico (53.2 percent); Nevada (48.8 percent); Alabama (48.5 percent); Delaware (48.1 percent); Florida (47.2 percent); Arkansas (46.8 percent); West Virginia (46.8 percent); and South Carolina (46.6 percent).

Utah had the lowest percentage of babies born in 2020 to unmarried mothers (19.3 percent). Colorado had the second lowest percentage (23.2 percent), followed by Idaho (27.7 percent); Washington (31.6 percent); New Hampshire (32.1 percent); Minnesota (32.6 percent); North Dakota (32.8 percent); Massachusetts (33.0 percent); Nebraska (33.4 percent); and New Jersey and Montana (both at 33.9 percent).

“The percentage of all births to unmarried women was 40.5 percent in 2020, up 1% from 2019 (40.0 percent),” the CDC said in the report published by its National Center for Health Statistics division. “The percentage of all births to unmarried women peaked in 2009 at 41.0 percent.”

Massive Methane Cloud Visible From Space Leaks Above Louisiana
[ZeroHedge] Now that Covid is winding down, the panic mongers are trying to pivot back to climate change.
The state began its investigation after Bloomberg News contacted the U.S. Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration about a cloud of invisible gas detected Jan. 21 by Kayrros SAS.

The geoanalytics firm estimates an emissions rate of 105 tons of methane an hour was needed to generate the plume, which stretched more than 90 kilometers (56 miles) across multiple parishes and was the most severe concentration of the powerful greenhouse gas spotted by the Sentinel-5P satellite in the U.S. since October
Since October? Golly.
If the leak that released the gas plume was broken down and compared with cars, it would be equivalent to the annual impact from 1,900 cars.
Seriously? We are to panic over the methane production equivalent of a single suburban neighbourhood??
The release appeared to originate within 7 km (4.3 miles) of a gas pipeline owned by Energy Transfer, LP, Kinder Morgan and Boardwalk Pipelines.

Methane is an odorless gas and appears to be colorless.[12] It does absorb visible light especially at the red end of the spectrum due to overtone bands, but the effect is only noticeable if the light path is very long. This is what gives Uranus and Neptune their blue or bluish-green colors, as light passes through their atmospheres containing methane and is then scattered back out.

Are you sure, Alec? Baldwin posts 'Everything's going to be alright' HOURS after he was sued by family of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins as they recreate moment he accidentally shot and killed her with prop gun on New Mexico set
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Halyna Hutchins' husband and son are suing Alec Baldwin and others associated with production of Western Rust after the actor shot her dead

  • Hours after the civil lawsuit was filed Tuesday, Baldwin posted to Instagram a video of a sign that read, 'Everything's going to be alright'

  • Lawyers claims 'reckless behavior and cost-cutting' led to cinematographer's death in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in October 2021

  • Complaint alleges Baldwin had 'refused' training for the kind of gun draw he was doing when he accidentally shot Hutchins

  • A video created by the attorneys showed a 3D animated recreation of the shooting

  • It shows a computer-generated avatar representing Baldwin accepting the Colt from David Halls, pointing it in Hutchins' direction, and firing

  • The animation shows that the bullet in the chamber was live and not a 'dummy' with a hole drilled into it. The round strikes Hutchins, who clutches her chest and collapses in the video

  • Baldwin, who was seen out in New York City's West Village on Tuesday, has not commented on the lawsuit but he later posted a video of a sign that read 'Everything's going to be alright' to Instagram

#2  Allowing live rounds on the set was some serious negligence. From bits I've heard, the whole production was a low-rent, slipshod affair.

I am suddenly wondering if the round fired was the only live one in the gun. Dummy rounds look just like live ones. Maybe someone grabbed a handful from the wrong box when they were setting up.

Did a flatbread help end British rule in India?
Something to ponder for other situations...
[BBC] In the 19th Century, a peculiar paranoia gripped the British East India Company: were the Indian people using flatbreads to transmit cryptic messages?

Something perplexing began in India in 1857.

Chapatis – thin pancakes of unleavened bread, traditionally cooked on a griddle – started making their way from village to village. A messenger would appear with the flatbread, and hand it over to the headman of a village. The headman would then dispatch a fresh batch on to the next village, and so on and so on.

In such a fashion, the chapatis perambulated around north India, all the way from the principality of Indore, in what is now the central state of Madhya Pradesh, to the city of Gwalior in north of the state. They found their way to Rohilkhand, in what is now the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, through the region that was once the historical kingdom of Awadh and further south to Allahabad, which is now known as Prayagraj, also in Uttar Pradesh. It was estimated by British military leaders that the chapatis were travelling up to 160-200 miles a night, a speed that would have outstripped the mail service at the time. Sometimes, the chapatis were accompanied by a lotus flowers, sometimes goat flesh, but mostly it was just chapatis, alone and unencumbered.

The Arctic Could See Ice-Free Summers By 2035, Reshaping Global Shipping Routes
And monkeys will fly outta my butt!

Al Gore famously predicted this years ago, and came up 100% wrong. Let's go for two!

[CNBC] - Sick of shipping delays? There might be a faster way to ship supplies around the world in the not too distant future.

With melting sea ice in the Arctic, Russia and China are expanding their shipping infrastructure over the Eurasian continent. Last year’s Suez Canal incident, when a ship got stuck and blocked global traffic for several days, was seen as just the argument to entice businesses to explore using Arctic shipping routes.

"Many Russian officials are very quick to jump on the fact that Arctic sea routes are potentially much more useful for avoiding the kind of bottlenecks that one would see in either Panama or Suez Canal," said Marc Lanteigne, associate professor of political science at the Arctic University of Norway.

China claims using the Northern Sea Route would shave almost 20 days off the shipping time now spent traveling through the Suez Canal.

But Arctic transit is no small feat and is still highly unpredictable. Captain Kenneth Boda took the U.S. Coast Guard cutter HEALY through the Arctic over Alaska and Canada this past summer.

...My concern there is that if the Russians bet on this happening - and it doesn't - they're going to be pi$$ed enough to try and make it happen anyways.

#5  the arctic doesn't need to be free of ice to allow late summer, early fall transit from the N Atlantic to the N Pacific

it just needs the thicker ice to stay about 30 miles or so from the continent

we've already had a few summers in which this occurred

Could you economically construct a container ship the same way they construct ice-breakers?

If the area is so valuable for shipping how come nobody is talking about alternatives?

#10  I don't know much about hovercraft but the physics of lifting 200,000 tons seems, well, difficult.

As for a combo cargo/ice breakers, that is certainly possible but the problem is that going through ice slows the vessel down a lot. The Russians have some of the best ice breakers and they rarely go more than 7 mph in ice.

Unprecedented cyberattack. Ukraine is DDOSed again
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Korrespondent] Law enforcement officials say that the cyber attack is very powerful, it has never happened before.

In the West, Ukraine has been warned of a Russian offensive since 16 February. US national security adviser Jake Sullivan said that Russian aggression could begin, including with a cyber attack. And on Tuesday, February 15, the websites of Ukrainian banks and ministries experienced an unprecedented cyber attack.

PRIVAT AND OSCHAD
Currently, it is known about the attack on Privatbank and Oschadbank, as well as on the Ministry of Defense and the website of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Users report that some do not have Internet banking, others can log in, but cannot conduct transactions.

PrivatBank later stated that the bank managed to eliminate the consequences of the DDOS attack and resume the stable operation of the systems.

Services were down for one hour. At the same time, the traffic was intense, so this created additional complications with access to services.

"We inform you that we managed to eliminate the consequences of the DDOS attack and resume the stable operation of the systems," Privat said. At the same time, users continue to complain about access problems.

"We mean that there is a possibility of further attacks, so our IT team is doing everything possible to counter them properly," the state bank concluded.

The State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection has confirmed information about a powerful DDOS attack on a number of Ukrainian information resources. The working group is currently taking all necessary measures to counter and localize cyber attacks.

ONCE A MONTH
On the night of January 14, hackers hacked into several government websites, in particular the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Diya portal, etc., and published their message in three languages - Ukrainian, Russian and Polish.

RUSSIAN TRACE
The government said the attack was linked to an escalation from Russia. Hacking actions against Ukrainian government agencies can also be part of a psychological attack on Ukrainians.

The Russian trace is also indicated by the chronology of the spread of the news. And then it was actively distributed by Russian publications.

In particular, one of the first reports about the attack was an article in the Russian pro-government publication RIA around 4 am (Kyiv time).

Government experts explained that the use of sensitive topics from the history of Polish-Ukrainian relations was to cover the trail of Russian hackers.

However, the text in Polish contains stylistic inaccuracies and lexical errors, which were confirmed to Ukrainian cyber-specialists by Polish colleagues.

The center emphasized that the attack on the government portals of Ukraine can be interpreted as one of the examples of Russian aggression against the state of Ukraine. Therefore, the center hopes for an early imposition of sanctions on the Russian structures associated with the attack.

Ukrainian militants shell south Donetsk
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[REGNUM] The shelling of the outskirts of the village of Zaichenko (DPR) was carried out by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the evening of February 15, according to the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the ceasefire regime.

Ukrainian fighters fired from grenade launchers, firing three shells. They fired from the direction of the village of Vodiane, east of Mariupol.

Recall that during the day on February 14, the Armed Forces of Ukraine fired on the DPR four times. In the LPR today, February 15, a serviceman was killed under fire from Ukrainian militants.

Putin called Ukraine's actions against Donbass a genocide
[REGNUM] The way Ukraine behaves towards the republics of Donbass is genocide, Russian President Vladimir Putin told reporters on February 15 following a meeting with German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz .

"Let me just add that, according to our estimates, what is happening in the Donbass today is genocide."

Regarding the initiative of the State Duma deputies to recognize the DPR and LPR, the President noted the following:

"Deputies of parliament, just like in any country, in Russia are guided by public opinion. They are guided by the opinion of their voters, and they subtly feel it. And in this regard, it is quite obvious: in our country, the vast majority of people sympathize with the inhabitants of Donbass, support them and hope that the situation there will radically change for the better for them.

"I will proceed from the premise that we must do everything to solve the problems of Donbass, but to do this, as Mr. Federal Chancellor also said, primarily based on the opportunities for implementing the Minsk agreements that have not been fully realized. And we very much hope that our partners - both overseas and in Europe, primarily the Federal Republic and France - will have a corresponding influence on the current Kiev authorities, and this solution will be found."

Soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine got drunk and wounded a colleague from a machine gun
[NewsFrontInfo] Ukrainian miliary continue to reduce the size of their own army with their own hands. A drunken fighter of the Armed Forces of Ukraine started a fight with a colleague and eventually shot him with a machine gun.

Anton Mikuzhis, an officer of the press service of the LPR People's Militia, told about this at a briefing.

"On February 14, at the positions of the 57th brigade near the settlement of Trekhizbenka, a verbal conflict between militants of the 34th Motorized Rifle Battalion, who were in a state of intoxication, escalated into a fight, during which one of them opened fire from his machine gun.

As a result of the incident, one militant of the 57th brigade received gunshot wounds and was taken to a hospital in the village of Severodonetsk," he said.

The brigade command traditionally tries to hide information about such incidents. It agreed with the Ukrainian observers at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire (JCCC) in the credentials of a fictitious shelling. They provided a summary in which they drew shelling from the LPR.

Now the wounded soldier has become a "hero" who suffered while defending the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russian State Duma of the Russian Federation votes for the recognition of the DNR and LNR.
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Material via Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin

[MoscowPost] The State Duma supported sending an appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin on recognizing the independence of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, reports The Moscow Post correspondent.

As follows from the voting data of the lower house of parliament, the majority of deputies supported sending an appeal to recognize the independence of the republics of Donetsk and Lugansk to the head of state. According to State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, the appeal is planned to be sent immediately.

Earlier, two versions of the appeal were sent to the State Duma for consideration. The first one, presented by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, involves sending an appeal to Vladimir Putin about the need to recognize the independence of the self-proclaimed republics. The second option is similar, but the recognition of the independence of states can occur only after consultations with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is necessary to involve the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to comply with international agreements, including the Minsk agreements.

It is reported that the second version of the appeal was put to the vote of parliamentarians.

Recall, on January 19, representatives of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation published a draft appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to consider the recognition of the self-proclaimed DNR and LNR as independent states. It is also necessary to negotiate with these countries to create interstate relations and regulate all aspects of mutual assistance. The faction expects serious consideration of the initiative.

China-Japan-Koreas
Bill Gates' 'deeply troubling' ties to China: excerpt from 'Red-Handed' by Peter Schweizer
[JustTheNews] Microsoft founder has whitewashed Chinese censorship of the internet and invested in industries essential to the Chinese military-industrial complex, from AI to nuclear power, according to new book.

Bill Gates is one of the world's richest men, rightly recognized as a visionary who helped build a massive technology industry. He has moved into the world of philanthropy to pursue support for some notable causes. He also has a deeply troubling relationship with the Chinese regime.

No one can blame a corporate executive for being enticed by the Chinese market's opportunities. From the earliest days of the internet, China, with approximately four times the population of the United States, has been seen as a lucrative market for the tech industry. You can bet Bill Gates saw it, too.

But Gates has cooperated with the regime in ways that other tech titans have not. He has lent credence to the claims of the Chinese Communist Party and been rewarded with access, favors, and titles. He has done the bidding of the regime in the tech world and has apologized or made excuses for its aberrant activities. On top of all that, he has invested in companies attached to Beijing's military-industrial complex.

Gates appears to have always underestimated the repressive nature of the CCP. His relentless techno-optimism has made him an easy mark. He has expressed naive attitudes about the role of technology in that repression. In 1995, at the dawn of the broader internet age, he suggested that Chinese efforts to censor the web would fail. Gates claimed that Chinese officials would literally need to have someone looking over everyone's shoulder to implement full internet access and maintain censorship.

Of course, Beijing had a censorship system in place just two years later. Even after China erected what came to be known as the "Great Firewall," Gates still insisted that censorship was too hard to erect and would not work. In 2008, he told students at Stanford University: "I don't see any risk in the world at large that someone will restrict free content flow on the internet," he told them. "You cannot control the internet."

It was a bold statement that proved both inaccurate and disingenuous. At that point, Microsoft had already been helping the regime censor content for several years.

Economy
The Best and Worst Property Taxes by State
[The Balance] Every state imposes some form of property tax. These taxes are commonly associated with real estate, but some states tax vehicles and other assets as well. Rates can range from very low in one state to astronomically high in another, but other types of taxes can balance property tax rates so the overall impact on residents is about the same.

Property taxes generate the revenue that states need to keep themselves up and running and to provide necessary services to their residents. School districts tend to rely heavily on these taxes, but the revenue also funds city and state workers' salaries—including first responders—as well as water, sewer, and other services.

Moderna Stock Crash: Losses Top $140 Billion As Insiders Sell Millions Of Dollars In Shares
[Forbes] The rout has been particularly bad for Covid-19-related stocks in recent weeks, says Bank of America analyst Geoff Meacham, who points out pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, down 2% Monday, has also been caught in the mix despite the promise of its Covid antiviral pill after it warned in its fourth-quarter earnings report that vaccine sales will decelerate this year.

With Covid cases plummeting from all-time highs, experts have increasingly questioned whether vaccines will be a sustainable revenue stream in the years to come, and adding to the concerns, a study released Friday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed Moderna and Pfizer booster shots lost substantial effectiveness after about four months.

#3  You can drop the mask mandates and still have yearly Covid shots the way we have yearly Flu shots. It seems a subscription revenue stream that could go on for a long time.

Maybe the stockmarket thinks the Covid story is going to collapse entirely and the big three vaccine makers might be culpable in some way.

#4  Moderno's stock price today, about 150 is still considerably above where it was before the pandemic

it was below 50 in the spring of 2020 and rose to about 90 just before announcing the vaccine's approval for emergency use.

the over 400/share they had in late summer 2021+ was based, I think, on the theory that the wealthy countries would be coerced into buying all the people in the 3rd world multiple vaccinations.

Over 150 ‘assailants’ booked in Christian boy’s death case in Lahore
[Dawn] The Factory Area police lodged a case against 150-200 ’attackers’ in the wake of death of a Christian boy here on Monday. The police acted after residents of Walton Road allegedly tortured Pervez Masih following a minor dispute of standing in the street.

Police said Pervez suffered critical head injuries and died in hospital.

Police have mounted security in the area to defuse tension when members of the Christian community took to the street against the attack.

Police have registered a murder case against 150-200 ’attackers’ after consulting a team of lawyers of the Christian community. The complainant said some of the attackers were also holding weapons and fired warning shots.

Cantt division operation SP Esa Sukhera made it clear that it was a scuffle incident between the two sides and had nothing to do with religion.
“Harumph! Nothing to do with anti-Christian hate by the mob. Ha-Rumph!! Just 200 boys being boys, y’know.”
He said on Sunday night a scuffle broke out between some members of the Christian community and locals.
The Christians not being local, donchaknow.
Consequently, Sobal Masih got injured and the Factory Area started the paperwork but haven't done much else against the attackers, he said adding the suspects nurtured a grudge against them for reporting the matter to the police and again attacked some relatives of the Christians on Monday.

During the attack, the SP said Pervez Masih suffered critical head injuries and died later in a local hospital which prompted his relatives to lodge a protest.

"We responded timely, engaged the elders of the Christian community and defused the tension," Esa Sukhera said adding that the police raided and arrested one of the prime suspects nominated in the FIR. He said teams had been sent to the area for the arrest of other attackers.

Police rescue blasphemy suspect from lynch mob in Muzaffargarh

[Dawn] Police with the help of area notables foiled on Monday a lynching attempt and rescued a man from a mob over alleged blasphemy
...the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence to a deity, or sacred objects, or toward something considered sacred or inviolable. Some religions consider it to be a crime. In Pakistain you can commit blasphemy by looking cross-eyed at a Koran...
and shifted him to some undisclosed location.

According to complainant, after Isha prayers he saw a man was burning pages of the the Holy Koran in front of a mosque in Alipur tehsil near Jagmal area. He said he locked the suspect in a room and called police 15.

Soon a mob gathered there but a heavy contingent of police reached the spot, broke the lock and took the suspect into custody.

District Police Officer Mohammad Tariq Wilayat took notice of the incident and ordered shifting of the suspect to some safe place.

Alipur Saddar police have started the paperwork but haven't done much else against the suspect under section 295B of PPC and sealed the first information report.

Dawn has learnt that a group of 25 to 30 people came to the cop shoppe and found no one there.

SHO Ghulam Mujtaba said the suspect seemed to be mentally deranged; however, "we are waiting for a medical report."
