'They say I needed money. I have OTHER assets': West Texas GOP wannabe railroad commissioner, 37, divides locals after posting TikTok video of herself TOPLESS while straddling oil pumping jack
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Sarah Stogner, 37, tweeted a video of her straddling an oil pumping jack while topless and without pants on on February 13

  • It was meant as a way to garner attention for her campaign for Texas Railroad Commissioner, which controls the state's oil and gas

  • She was soon ridiculed online and had an endorsement from one of the state's major newspaper rescinded

  • Stogner said the video was meant as a joke to bring awareness to her campaign

  • She also said that the San Antonio News-Express' editorial 'felt very much like slut shaming'

#1  In addition to the partial nudity and implications of corruption, the race has drawn attention because one of the candidates is dead. Marvin “Sarge” Summers was killed Feb. 8 when his car rear-ended a semi-truck, but his name remains on the ballot.

#3  Well, they'd best pay attention there. Treating the Florida state AG commissioner race like it was at once in the bag for the GOP and not an important race anyway got us Nikki Freid, who is only going to get bumped off in the gubernatorial primary here in FL because the execrable Charlie Crist is running.

Austin crime watchdog calls on DA Garza to step aside in case against 19 indicted officers
[FoxNews] The Greater Austin Crime Commission is calling on Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza
...a typical slimy Soros purchase...
to step aside and recuse himself from involvement in the indictment of 19 Austin Police Department officers for their role in quelling a riot following the death of George Floyd in May 2020.

"There are legitimate questions about what evidence was presented to the grand jury," the commission said in a statement Tuesday. "To ensure public confidence in the process, the district attorney should step aside and ask the court to appoint a special prosecutor for these cases."

Garza, who campaigned on a promise to prosecute police, indicted the 19 police officers last week and charged them each with first degree felony charges that carry prison sentences of 5 to 99 years in prison.

The statement went on to point out that the officers were cleared of wrongdoing by the Austin Police Department in 2020 and outlined several concerns with Garza’s handling of the case including prejudicial past statements, withholding evidence from the grand jury, and dysfunction within the district attorney’s office. Garza has also been accused of withholding exculpatory evidence from the grand jury in another high-profile Austin case related to the 2020 riots, according to KXAN.

Garza’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News.

Over a dozen officers were injured by protesters during the unrest on May 30 and 31 of 2020 including several officers who were struck by bottles, rocks, jars of paint, and frozen water bottles that were hurled at them by the unruly mob. Some protesters were also injured by beanbag rounds the officers used, per department policy at the time, to restore order.

Justin Berry, a Republican candidate for the Texas House of Representatives and one of the officers charged by Garza, told Fox News this week he believes the case is politically motivated.

"This has nothing to do with justice, has nothing do with any wrongdoing," Berry said. "This is simply about politics and a political agenda that has taken place with these radical liberal district attorneys."

"We were responding to a riot," Berry added. "People throwing Molotov cocktails at us, frozen water bottles, bottles filled with urine, bottles full of gasoline, and they were engaging in criminal activity by obstructing the passage road that goes to the main hospital."

Mayor of Ottawa Says He’s Trying to Sell The Trucks Confiscated from 'Freedom Convoy' Protesters
[Townhall] Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson said on Saturday that he wants to sell the trucks confiscated from the protesters who took part in the "Freedom Convoy" against vaccine mandates.

Watson made the remarks in an interview with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). He claimed that Canada’s "Emergencies Act," which gives the government more power to respond to an "urgent and critical situation" that "seriously endangers the lives, health or safety of Canadians and is of such proportions or nature as to exceed the capacity or authority of a province to deal with it," gives the city of Ottawa the authority to sell the trucks.

In the interview, Watson also said that the Freedom Convoy hurt small businesses in the nation’s capital and "disrupted the city."

"That’s one of the reasons why, under the Emergencies Act, that I’ve asked our solicitor and our city manager, how can we keep the tow trucks, and the campers, and the vans and everything else we’ve confiscated, and sell those pieces of equipment to help recoup some of the costs that our taxpayers are absorbing? That’s one of the provisions of the Emergency Act and we have been a beneficiary of the Emergency Act," Watson stated in the interview.

"I asked the Members of Parliament to consider, it’s [the Emergency Act] helped us a lot, things like confiscating vehicles," he added. Watson continued, saying that politicians need a better plan going forward to "protect our residents" better than they have this past month.

#13
something to do with a run on banks? Banks are no longer safe for the storing of your money
Banks have NEVER been safe places to store your money. It has always been about trust. Governments and banks alike have ways of preventing "runs" on banks. When FDR was first inaugurated there was not a single US bank that was open. That meant, no "runs" were possible. Government did not make that happen, the banks did. Read the agreement you signed when you opened your bank account(s), all that is in the ultramicroscopic fine print. If you don't like that, then find your own method to hoard your pile.

Police Lay 391 Charges on 191 Freedom Convoy Protesters in Ottawa Crackdown
[Breitbart] Police in Ottawa confirmed 191 arrests of Freedom Convoy protestors on Sunday after a weekend crackdown on the movement, issuing 391 charges for various offences including mischief and obstructing police.

Ottawa police – who worked alongside Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and others – cleared the area around the Canadian parliament in Ottawa of Freedom Convoy protesters over the weekend, arresting 191 people.

Ottawa Interim Police Chief Steve Bell detailed that police charged many with various offences ranging from obstructing police, disobeying court orders, and assaulting a police officer to possessing a weapon and mischief, the Toronto Sun reports.

Prior to the crackdown on the protestors on Friday, police arrested several Freedom Convoy organisers including Tamara Lich, who was also charged with offences relating to mischief.

“There is another phase that will identify how we maintain the streets, how we eventually demobilize, once we’ve identified that there is no threat of further protests coming to our city,” police chief Bell said on Sunday.

Deputy commissioner with the Ontario Provincial Police Chris Harkins added that police seized 76 vehicles in Ottawa over the weekend and suspended many private and commercial drivers’ licenses.

Prior to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoking the Emergencies Act for the first time in Canadian history last week, police had difficulties finding tow truck operators willing to tow the semi-trucks and other vehicles in the Canadian capital. Under the Emergencies Act, the government is able to force tow truck operators to carry out their work or they could face potential fines or prison time if they refuse.

Following the removal of the protestors, police have set up around a hundred checkpoints across part of downtown Ottawa and it is unclear when the checkpoints will be removed.

Police chief Bell indicated that the measures will remain in place to ensure “community healing.”

“We promised earlier this week that we would clear our streets and give them back to our residents. We promised that we would return our city to a state of normalcy,” he said. “With every hour we are getting closer to that goal.”

On Monday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau held a press conference prior to the evening vote on the use of the Emergencies Act in the Canadian House of Commons, stating that he expected the act to remain in force despite the end of the border blockades and the clearing of downtown Ottawa.

“Even though things seem to be resolving very well in Ottawa, this state of emergency is not over,” Trudeau said and added, “We have to remain vigilant, and not only in Ottawa but at our ports of entry.”

#2  391 charges, and if that's not enough, they'll create even more because there is no accountability or check on their power. It is truly a police state autocracy.

Parliament approves Trudeau's use of Emergencies Act in response to freedom protests The vote was 185 in favor to 151 against and was split along party lines.
[PostMillennial] A vote in Canada's Parliament on Monday night resulted in the confirmation of Prime Minister Trudeau's declaration of the Emergencies Act over the freedom protests that have gripped the nation for three weeks. The vote was 185 in favor to 151 against.

Right after the vote, Interim Conservative Leader Candice Bergen rose to issue a motion to rescind the declaration, and stated that Conservatives would continue fighting for Canadians' rights.

The vote was split along party lines, with the Liberals and NDP voting in favor of Trudeau's declaration of the Emergencies Act, and Conservatives and Bloc Quebec opposed. NDP leader Jagmeet Singh said that he would endorse the Act, if reluctantly.
So much for popular support for the truckers.

#1  So Washington's warning against "factionalism" holds true outside the US system as well:

#2  More of the quote. Prescient much?

[The spirit of party] agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which finds a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions. Thus the policy and the will of one country are subjected to the policy and will of another.

Pete Buttigieg accepted $250,000 and gifts from mayoral campaign donors who were later awarded $33million in city contracts, raising concerns of 'pay to play' as Transportation Secretary doles out $210billion in infrastructure plan
Politics as usual.
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Documents obtained by DailyMail.com reveal former South Bend mayor Pete Buttigieg's campaign took a total of $253,750 from 23 companies

  • Executives of those companies were then awarded a combined $33,310,426 in city infrastructure jobs from the Board of Public Works on which he was seated

  • Buttigieg, 40 - now the US Transportation Secretary - will oversee $210billion in discretionary grants under the new bipartisan infrastructure bill

  • But government watchdogs say the Democrat's pattern of donations and contracts as mayor could present the appearance of a 'pay to play' scandal

  • 'This is alarming, and very concerning, because this is the swamp personified,' Taxpayers Protection Alliance president David Williams told DailyMail.com
