Caribbean-Latin America
Mexico's Bigoted Summit of the Americas Boycott Fizzles as Other Leftist Leaders Choose to Attend
[Breitbart] A feared mass leftist boycott of the Summit of the Americas — which began on Monday in Los Angeles — never materialized as the socialist leaders of Argentina, Chile, and Peru all left Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on his own to boycott in defense of the region’s dictatorships.

The summit brings together the countries in the Organization of American States (OAS), whose charter demands that members uphold democratic values. The OAS Inter-American Democratic Charter bars dictatorships from participating in organization meetings, including the Summit of the Americas. Despite this, Cuba – a 63-year-old communist dictatorship – began attending the Summit of the Americas with President Barack Obama’s blessing in 2015. Cuban agents engaged in mob violence against pro-democracy dissidents at both Summits of the Americas that the Castro regime has been invited to.

The administration of President Joe Biden explicitly uninvited the socialist and communist dictatorships of Nicaragua and Venezuela to this year’s summit. Biden failed to take a definitive stance on Cuba, instead simply not sending a formal invite to the regime. The White House did invite pro-democracy dissidents to the summit, but the Castro regime banned them from leaving the island.

Multiple leftist leaders expressed displeasure with the lack of invite to Cuba and threatened to boycott, including Presidents Alberto Fernández of Argentina, Gabriel Boric of Chile, and Luis Arce of Bolivia. The rumors of potential boycotts led to speculation that other leftist leaders — such as President Pedro Castillo of Peru and Xiomara Castro of Honduras — would join in. Bizarrely, conservative Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro also threatened to boycott the summit for unclear reasons not related to defending the dictatorships, which he consistently condemns on the international stage.

Ultimately, only Arce and López Obrador in Latin America boycotted the event to support the violent Marxist dictatorships of the hemisphere. Over 20 world leaders, including those of Caribbean states, will be attending. Two other Latin American presidents are not attending: Alejandro Giammatei of Guatemala and Luis Lacalle Pou of Uruguay. Giammatei’s office claimed his absence was strictly the product of a scheduling conflict – not a boycott – while Lacalle Pou, a conservative, tested positive for Chinese coronavirus shortly before his scheduled departure.

Fernández, Boric, and Castillo are all reportedly en route to the conference – Boric arrived on Monday morning after visiting Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada, expected to attend the summit, as well. Xiomara Castro is not attending the event but sending representation and categorically denying that her absence is a political boycott.

“Honduras will be present at the Ninth Summit of the Americas,” the Honduran Foreign Relations Ministry emphasized on Twitter.

Bolsonaro also confirmed his attendance while hinting that Biden is senile in remarks last week.

Others present will include Colombian President Iván Duque, Ecuadorian President Guillermo Lasso, and Paraguayan President Mario Abdo Benítez, Costa Rican President Rodrigo Chaves Robles – all right-wing or center-right leaders – and President Luis Abinader of the Dominican Republic and Panamanian President Laurentino Cortizo, both center-leftists.

President Nayib Bukele of El Salvador — a former leftist ousted from the country’s top left-wing party after multiple public disagreements with leadership — has ignored the event entirely.

López Obrador, an admirer of Fidel Castro, delivered the most vocal condemnation of ostracizing dictatorships in a press conference on Monday dedicated largely to expressing disgust with Cuban-Americans as an ethnic group. The president announced that he would not attend the Los Angeles summit because Cuban-Americans — who he blamed in their entirety for his absence — were “acting with hate” and dominating American politics at the expense of the repressive Castro regime.

“I have a very good relationship with President Biden, he is a good man,” López Obrador said. “In this case, I feel that there are a lot of pressures on the part of the Republicans and, above all, from some leaders of the Republican Party and also in the Democrat Party that have to do with the Cuban community in Florida and in the United States, who have a lot of influence.”

#1  In the article linked below is a Twittter video of the pre-opening moments. It is stunning to see Jojo literally standing pathetically while conversations swirl all around him, even turning to try and horn into a side conversation and getting ignored. These are second and third tier leaders, many of whose countries get huge amounts of US aid, and its like Jojo is the creepy uncle everyone hates. Its a level of disrespect that I never expected to see.

Iraq
Kurdish security forces say drone in Erbil launched by militia group
[Rudaw] The Kurdistan Region's Security Council on Thursday claimed the explosive-laden drone used in the attack on a road in Erbil the night before was directed by a militia group outside the Kurdish capital.

The security forces accused a "Hezbollah" militia of directing the rigged drone from the town of Pirde (Altun Kupri) in Kirkuk province, likely using the term to refer to an Iran-backed militia in the area.
That would be the Iraqi group of that name, an Iranian catspaw.
An explosive-laden drone struck Erbil-Pirmam road on Wednesday night, causing material damage to a restaurant and several vehicles as well as injuring three civilians.

The security forces also denounced rumors circulated by social media websites and Twitter accounts with thousands of followers which claim that the recent strike targeted a Mossad (Israeli intelligence) vehicle, claiming to have killed an agent.

"They may be able to feed these lies to the public opinion, but for the people of Erbil and the region who have seen the location, type of attack, and its consequences with their own eyes, this news has become ridiculous," the Kurdish forces affirmed, continuing with "those who make this claim want to cover up their failures and weaknesses."

The drone attack sparked widespread condemnation from local and foreign authorities, including the US-led coalition, who condemned the strike and expressed solidarity with the Kurdistan Region.

In the statement, the Kurdistan Region Security Council reiterated that the Region will never be a threat to other countries nearby, and called on them to respect the territorial integrity and illusory sovereignty of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

Drone and rocket attacks in the Kurdistan Region have largely been attributed to Iran-backed militias who in recent months have launched a series of attacks against Kurdish land.

US reopens line of communication for Palestinians severed by Trump
[IsraelTimes] The Biden administration, the same old faces in slightly different places, the same old ideas, the same old graft
...the pack of self-imagined masterminds of strategy and intrigue at the service of the Biden Crime Family and a grateful nation...
on Thursday restored a line of communication to the Paleostinian Authority that had been cut by former US president Donald Trump
...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party...
The largely bureaucratic, yet symbolic step came as Washington continued to hold off on reopening the US consulate in Jerusalem, a move demanded by Ramallah but opposed by Israel’s government.

Abbas confidant tears into US for refusing to delist PLO in meeting with senior Biden aide
[IsraelTimes] Senior Paleostinian Authority official Hussein al-Sheikh slams the United States’ continuing categorization of the Paleostine Liberation Organization as a terror group during a meeting with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Israeli and Paleostinian Affairs Hady Amr in Ramallah.

Removing the PLO terror tag has been a key demand by Ramallah to current US President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. An incredibly corrupt version of Jar-Jar Binks, only well into his dotage. The dumbass who abandoned Afghanistan....
. Thus far, it remains unfulfilled.

Al-Sheikh also criticized Israeli policies that he said were destroying the possibility of establishing an independent Paleostinian state.

"[We] stressed that the absence of a political horizon and Israel’s continuation of its unilateral measures are killing the possibility of a two-state solution," Sheikh says in a statement.

Amr’s meeting comes in advance of a planned visit by Biden to the region in July. The date was set for mid-June but was later delayed to the following month.

The two officials also discussed some matters to "prepare for the visit" of US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Barbara Leaf in the coming days, Sheikh tweets.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Study reveals 'huge scale and impact' of Israeli incursions over Lebanon
One would feel for them, if only Hizb’allah weren’t nestled so firmly in the Lebanese bosom.
[AnNahar] A study documenting at least 22,000 Israeli overflights in Lebanon Hezbollahstan
...a strong argument in favor of European colonialism, even French colonialism...
’s skies over the past 15 years has revealed the "huge scale and impact of Israeli incursions over Lebanon" as well as the "psychological effect on the country," British newspaper The Guardian reported on Thursday.

"For decades, the roar of Israeli jets, and the hum of surveillance drones have been regular features in the skies above Lebanon, buzzing towns and cities at will — and acting as constant reminders that war is never far away," The Guardian said.
They see you when you’re sleeping
They know when you’re awake
They know if you’ve been bad or good
...and their missiles will reach even under the bed where you’re hiding, so....
The study, which was published on Thursday by a new organization, AirPressure.info, demonstrates "just how pervasive that presence has been, with at least 22,000 overflights being documented in the past 15 years alone," the newspaper added.

"Those numbers have made warplanes an abiding soundtrack to Lebanese life and the ever present threat of violence a part of the country’s collective psychology," it said.

The research shows Israeli planes have occupied the skies of Lebanon for a total of eight and a half of the past 15 years.

"Few of the incursions are brief, with many lasting an average of four hours and 35 minutes. And most involve the most technically advanced fighter planes or surveillance aircraft in the world that basic Lebanese ground defenses offer no match for," The Guardian added, citing the study.

"Maps of the flight routes taken by the jets and drones reveal a spaghetti bowl of loops over most areas of Lebanon. The flights are concentrated in the south, where they appear to follow set routes. But Beirut is also a frequent destination, as are areas north of the capital and closer to the Syrian border," the newspaper said.

Lawrence Abu Hamdan, who assembled the research, which is the most comprehensive of its kind, said studies had shown regular exposure to overflights by warplanes had taken a toll on those living below. AirPressure.info has compiled 11 peer-reviewed papers from scientific journals that detail the acute physiological effects of aircraft noise, with symptoms ranging from hypertension to diminished blood circulation and psychosomatic pains.

Perhaps less understood is the psychological effect of foreign warplanes dominating the skies above a civilian population. They often fly at low altitudes that cause alarm and panic.

"While in Lebanon, each one of these acts is felt as a briefly passing moment and no two residents may hear jets in the same way or at the same time," said Abu Hamdan. "What I aim to present is an accumulated event, one extended crime that has taken place over the past 15 years.

"But really this should be seen as an atmosphere of violence. It takes its toll over time, and that’s why it has the potential to be ignored, but it shouldn’t be ignored any longer. Why should a population live under mass indiscriminate surveillance and live under a hostile sky ... to the extent that it’s embodied into everyday life," Abu Hamdan added.

The numbers have been compiled from 243 letters addressed by Lebanon to the U.N. Security Council, which were often informed by data supplied by the U.N. interim force in Lebanon, a peacekeeping mission, and by the Lebanese Army.

Israel has long maintained that its intrusions over Lebanon are necessary to gain intelligence of Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
and its weapons. It has also used Lebanese skies to bomb targets in Syria linked to Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites....
and Hizbullah.
More from the Times of Israel:
According to the research, conducted by AirPressure.info and reported in the Guardian, the majority of the incursions into Lebanese airspace have been documented over the last eight and a half years, each lasting an average of four hours and 35 minutes.

Most were allegedly conducted by advanced fighter planes or surveillance aircraft “that basic Lebanese ground defenses offer no match for,” the Guardian adds, citing the study.

The study examines the routes taken by Israeli aircraft and reveals that most of the flights were concentrated in the south of the country, where they appear to follow regular routes. Beirut and other areas north of the capital, close to the Syrian border, also saw Israeli aircraft fly over them.

UN watchdog says Iran plans to ramp up uranium enrichment
More impossible assassinations and mysterious explosions in Mossad’s future...
[AnNahar] Iran
...The nation is noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence...
plans to install two new cascades of advanced centrifuges that will allow Tehran to rapidly enrich more uranium, the U.N.'s nuclear watchdog said Thursday, the latest escalation in the standoff over the country's atomic program.

The decision to add the two IR-6 centrifuges cascades at its underground Natanz nuclear facility comes as countries at an ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency meeting in Vienna voted Wednesday night to censure Iran. The rebuke deals with what the watchdog refers to as Iran's failure to provide "credible information" over man-made nuclear material found at three undeclared sites in the country.
