Over 100 Afghan Security Outposts Built Along Durand Line
[TOLONEWS] The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has established more than 100 security outposts alongside the Durand Line in the eastern parts of the country.

These outposts were built by the order of acting Minister of Defense Mawlawi Mohammad Yaqoob.

In close vicinity to the outposts, several roads are also being built in addition to the outposts themselves. One of these roads is being built in the Salaleh neighborhood of Nangarhar

province's Goshta district.

"Previously, the border outposts were very far away. We have established more than 100 outposts in the eastern provinces on the Zero Line. These outposts have been established in Nangarhar, Kunar and Nuristan provinces," said Qari Meraj, commander of the border brigade of the eastern zone.

"In the previous government, the road near the Durand Line either did not exist, or if it did, it was destroyed. The people who live in these areas and the forces who were in the outposts in these areas were facing problems," said Wahidullah Mohammadi, front man of the 201 Khalid bin Walid Army Corps.

The residents of Salalah area, are also happy about the construction of this road.

"Before, we had many problems here. There was no road, and people were shooting from the neighboring areas, and people were moving from this area," said Imran, a resident of Goshta district.

According to officials of 201 Khalid bin Walid Army Corps in the eastern zone, efforts are still being made to provide facilities for both the military and people.

"We try our best to provide services to our people," said Qudratullah Barkat, the head of the engineering department of the 201 Khalid bin Walid Army Corps.

The news of the construction of military outposts along the Durand Line comes just two weeks after festivities broke out at the Torkham crossing between Pak border guards and Islamic Emirate forces. An event that caused the Torkham crossing to be closed for nine days.

President Mohamud sacks Land Forces chief amid Al-Shabaab reprisal attacks

Somali National Army Infantry Commander Brigadier General Ahmed Adan Ali has been relieved of his duties only three months after he was appointed to the post.

President Hassan Sheikh announced the changes Monday in a mini shake-up of the military command. Brigadier General Ali was appointed to head the Land Forces in June replacing Brig. Gen. Mohammed Tahlil Bihi.

The president elevated Dayah Abdi Abdulle to the position of Colonel and tapped him to lead the infantry division of the military. The President also appointed Brigadier General Madey Nurey Sheikh as the Deputy Army Commander.

The changes come amid increased al-Shabaab
...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
attacks targeting SNA bases, especially in central regions of the country. The Infantry Division is the largest section of the military carrying the majority of the troops.

The President’s move also comes as the African Union

Transition Mission (ATMIS) hands over additional Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) to the Somali National Army ahead of the September 30 deadline.

An additional 3,000 ATMIS troops and 851 Police Officers will be leaving the country at the end off this month in line with the UN Security Council dictates. In June, 3000 soldiers pulled out while a further 3000 will be leaving at the end of the year.

The African Union Peace and Security Council warned this week that al-Shabaab might exploit gaps resulting from the withdrawal and called for an equitable pull-out.

UN raises alarm over child deaths in Sudan as health crisis deepens
[AFRICANEWS] United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
(U.N.) agencies have reported the devastating loss of more than 1,200 young lives in Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
's refugee camps, succumbing to suspected measles and malnutrition.

These statistics come amidst an ominous warning that thousands more, including vulnerable newborns, teeter on the brink of peril as we approach the year's end.

Speaking at a U.N. briefing in Geneva, Dr. Allen Maina, the chief of public health at the U.N. refugee agency (UNHCR), conveyed the tragic reality that over 1,200 children under the age of five have perished in the White Nile state since May. Dr. Maina's somber statement was underscored by his grim forecast: "Regrettably, we anticipate that these numbers will continue to rise."

UNICEF, the U.N. children's agency, expressed grave concern for the "many thousands of newborns" among the 333,000 infants expected to be born before the year's close. These infants, along with their mothers, are in dire need of skilled delivery care.

However,
if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well...
in a nation where millions find themselves trapped in war-torn regions or displaced, and where critical medical supplies are in scarce supply, such crucial care is rapidly slipping beyond reach. James Elder, spokesperson for UNICEF, delivered this sobering message during the same briefing.

To compound the crisis, Sudan faces a relentless battle against severe malnutrition, with approximately 55,000 children requiring treatment each month. Shockingly, only a fraction of nutrition centers are operational, with less than one in 50 serving the capital city, Khartoum, and just one in ten functional in West Darfur.

The stark reality of this humanitarian catastrophe demands immediate global attention and intervention, as countless lives hang in the balance amidst the unforgiving backdrop of Sudan's ongoing conflict and healthcare crisis.

Municipal Council of Derna Dismissed After 'Storm Daniel' Crisis
[LIBYAREVIEW] Osama Hamad, the Prime Minister of the Libyan Parliament-designated government, announced on Monday the dismissal of the entire municipal council of Derna, and its referral for investigation.

This decision comes in the aftermath of the widespread destruction caused by storm Daniel, which struck eastern Libya.

Thousands of residents of Derna gathered in the city center on Monday, protesting against the two Libyan governments in the east and west. They called for expediting efforts to recover the victims’ bodies, and provide essential services to the devastated areas.

The protesters also urged the Libyan Attorney General to accelerate the investigation into the disaster. In a statement, they called for "taking all legal and judicial measures against anyone involved in negligence or theft that contributed to this catastrophe."

Hamad told the Al Arabiya news channel that rescue teams are still working to recover bodies from the sea. He added that these bodies are still in the water, located in difficult terrains.

The PM revealed that some countries have been requested to provide assistance by offering helicopters to aid in the recovery of these bodies.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Senate, Tremulus continued with his speech against Varius and his cohorts, watching as his colleagues dropped off to sleep one by one...
Health Minister, Othman Abdel-Jalil revealed that the corpse count has reached 3,283 in the areas affected by last weeks storm.

He told Russia’s Sputnik news that the latest statistics, as of Monday, indicate that 3,283 deaths have been confirmed, and have already been buried.

Abdel-Jalil noted that "these numbers are not final, and do not reflect the true figure, as there are still many missing individuals and rescue operations are ongoing."

Libyans protest against authorities in flood-hit Derna
[AFRICANEWS] Hundreds of protesters rallied in Libya's disaster-hit Derna on Monday, accusing the authorities of neglect after a huge flash flood devastated the coastal city and swept thousands to their deaths.

Demonstrators gathered outside the city's grand mosque and rolled their eyes, jumped up and down, and hollered poorly rhymed slogans real loud against the parliament in east Libya and its leader Aguilah Saleh.

"The people want parliament to fall", "Aguila is the enemy of God", "The blood of deaders is not shed in vain" and "Thieves and betrayers must hang", they shouted.

A statement read on behalf of the protesters urged "a speedy investigation and legal action against those responsible for the disaster".

They also demanded a United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
office in Derna and the start of "the city's reconstruction, plus compensation for affected residents" and a probe into the current city council and previous budgets.

"Those who survived from the city, in what's left of the city, against the ones who brought death and destruction to the city," posted analyst Anas el-Gomati on X, formerly Twitter, under pictures of the destruction.

Politicians and analysts say the chaos in Libya since the 2011 fall and killing of Moamer Qadaffy has relegated the maintenance of vital infrastructure to the background.

On September 10, two dams in which cracks were reported as far back as 1998 burst after Storm Daniel hit eastern Libya, unleashing a devastating and deadly torrent that swept through Derna, a city of 100,000 people.

The flash flood killed nearly 3,300 people and left thousands more missing.

Tens of thousands of traumatised residents are homeless and badly need clean water, food and basic supplies amid a growing risk of cholera, diarrhoea, dehydration and malnutrition, UN agencies have warned.

EU voices 'solidarity' with French envoy in Niger
[AFRICANEWS] The European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
's top diplomat on Monday (Sep. 18) voiced solidarity with La Belle France's ambassador to Niger, who has faced intense pressure after refusing to comply with an expulsion orders from Niger's military leaders.

"We also stress again our solidarity in La Belle France, over the situation of its ambassador on the ground, full solidarity with La Belle France and full support to President Bazoum," Josep Borell tolf news hounds on Sep. 18 after the bloc's foreign ministers met on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

After sacking the elected government in late July, the military that seized power on July 26 said it was expelling Ambassador Sylvain Itté.

But the 48-hour deadline passed without Gay Paree recalling him.

The former colonial power then said it did not recognize the authority of the putschists.

Niger’s military junta said it had revoked the French ambassador’s diplomatic immunity and instructed the police to expel him. Sylvain Itté's visa and that of his family have also been cancelled.

President Emmanuel Macron said last week that the ambassador was "being held hostage" in the embassy, living off military rations after the military cut off deliveries of supplies.

9 Separatist Outfits Supporting Terror Groups Have Bases In Canada, Say Officials
[OneIndia] At least nine separatist organizations supporting terror groups have bases in Canada and despite multiple deportation requests, Ottawa has taken no action against those involved in heinous crimes, including the killing of popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, officials in New Delhi said on Tuesday.

They said that pro-Khalistani outfits such as the World Sikh Organization (WSO), Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) and Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) working at the behest of Pakistain have been allegedly operating freely from the Canadian soil.

They said allegations levelled against India by the Canadian authorities and politicians in relation to the murder of Canadian citizen Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Khalistani terrorist, are incorrect and based on unsubstantiated assumptions.

The issue of deportations of wanted turbans and gangsters have been raised by Indian authorities at multiple diplomatic and security talks but the Canadian authorities remained non-committal and brazen in support of these terror elements, the officials said.

Multiple dossiers have been handed over to the Canadian side but India's deportation requests have gone unaddressed, they said, adding at least nine separatist organizations supporting terror groups have found their bases in Canada.

Eight individuals involved in terror activities and as many gangsters, who have been conspiring with Pakistain's ISI, have found a safe haven in Canada, the officials said.

They said that deportation requests for these people -- including Gurwant Singh who was involved in terrorist activities in early 1990s -- have been pending with the Canadian authorities for years now. An Interpol Red Corner Notice is also pending against him.

The officials said Indian authorities had requested the deportation of Gurpreet Singh, who is also involved in terror cases, and provided his Canadian address but no action was taken.

They said the request for deportation of dreaded gangsters including Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Dalla, wanted in 16 criminal cases, Satinderjit Singh Brar alias Goldy Brar, who took responsibility for killing of famous Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, had been submitted with evidence against them but no action was taken by the Canadian government.

The separatist organization were openly issuing liquidation threats, fuelling separatists' agenda and carrying out assassinations in India, they said.

They pointed out that high profile liquidation of popular singer Sidhu Moosewala by the Canada-based gangster with affiliations to pro-Khalistan elements "is a classic example of this".

Other Canada-based wanted turbans are Gurwant Singh Bath of the Dashmesh regiment of Khalistan, Bhagat Singh Brar (who is son of Pakistain-based terrorist Lakhbeer Singh Rhode), Moninder Singh Bual, Satinder Pal Singh Gill, they said.

Nijjar, who carried a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh, was born in Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

on November 10, 1977 and was affiliated with the now banned Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF). He was arrested in the mid 1990s. He managed to get bail and fled India on February 19, 1997 by assuming a fake identity of Ravi Sharma and securing a travel document in that name.

In 2013-14, Nijjar visited Pakistain where he met Jagtar Singh Tara of Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), wanted in liquidation of Punjab former chief minister Beant Singh. He was during that period roped in by the ISI, which helped him in organising secret training camps for Sikh murderous Moslem groups associated with the Khalistan movement in Missigen Hills, British Columbia.

Nijjar, who was designated as a terrorist by the Union Home Ministry, was also accused of working closely with Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) led by Jagtar Singh Tara. He has been associated with Dal Khalsa leader Gajender Singh, a key accused in hijacking of an Indian Airlines flight in 1981.

His name figured in the most wanted list handed over by then Punjab chief minister Captain Amrinder Singh to the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau
...hereditary prime minister of the Great White North...
in 2018.

Nijjar along with criminals like Arsh Dalla were generating huge amounts of funds for anti-India activities by various means which included drug money and finances from Gurdwaras, the officials said.

They said Canada's current diplomatic standoff with India appears to be motivated by failures on the domestic political front and declining popularity of the present government and expulsion of an Indian diplomat seems to be aimed at getting support of the Sikh population especially those harbouring pro-Khalistan sentiments.

The officials also pointed out that support for murderous Moslem elements and gangsters in Canada are deeply linked with the political realities that influence the vote bank in various Sikh dominated constituencies.

They pointed to the role of Jagmeet Singh Dhaliwal, an MP from Burnaby South, who belongs to the New Democratic Party
...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects...
of Canada which has been a vocal supporter of the Khalistan referendum that seeks a Balkanisation of India and fuels separatist sentiments amongst Canadian Sikhs.

Dhaliwal was earlier placed on black list for his anti-India activities.

The officials said that the Canadian authorities have failed to bring out any direct association of Indian authorities with Nijjar's murder and pointed out at the another murder of another Canadian citizen Ripudaman Malik, who faced wrath of Nijjar and Sikh for Justice for printing of Shri Guru Granth Sahib by Satnam Religious Prachaar Society (SRPS). Few days later, he was killed by unidentified button men.

The officials said that Nijjar's killing was a handiwork of internal rivalry between various groups.

India-Canada diplomatic row over Sikh leader's murder deepens further
[GEO.TV] The diplomatic row between New Delhi and Ottawa worsened further on Tuesday over a Sikh leader’s liquidation as India — in a tit-for-tat move — expelled a Canadian diplomat, triggering an international response on the matter.

The ties between the two nations fell to a new low after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau
...hereditary prime minister of the Great White North...
accused the Narendra Modi government of a role in the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s
...by day a plumber who lives comfortably in Canada’s British Columbia, far from the romantic danger endured by the revolutionaries he commands, by night chief of the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) and the Canadian arm of Sikhs For Justice (SFJ)...
murder in British Columbia in June.

Nijjar, who was rubbed out outside a Sikh temple in June, had been designated a "terrorist" by India in July 2020, following his support for a Sikh homeland in the form of an independent state of Khalistan.
...Khalistan is the romantic idea of an independent Sikh homeland in the Indian Punjab, to be achieved with local volunteers, diaspora donations, and training and direction from Pakistan’s ISI...
The Canadian high commissioner, or ambassador, in New Delhi had been summoned and told of the expulsion decision, India's foreign ministry said in a statement.

"The decision reflects the government of India’s growing concern at the interference of Canadian diplomats in our internal matters and their involvement in anti-India activities," the ministry added.

"The concerned diplomat has been asked to leave India within the next five days."

Earlier, PM Justin Trudeau took his closest allies on board regarding the involvement of the Indian government in the incident.

CBC News, citing a senior government source, stated that PM Trudeau has briefed UK PM Rishi Sunak, French President Emmanuel Macron, and US President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. We get to suffer the consequences...
about the progress made in the killing of Khalistan leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Canada also expelled India's top intelligence agent in the country. Pavan Kumar Rai, the head of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW
... India's Research and Analysis Wing, Pakistain's equivalent of the Boogie Man...
), in Canada, was operating from the Indian High Commission.

The shocking revelation about the Indian role in the incident was exposed by the Canadian PM in a speech at an emergency of the assembly.

Canada was "actively pursuing credible allegations" linking Indian government agents to the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, PM Trudeau told the House of Commons on Monday.

Trudeau said he had raised the issue of the murder directly with Modi on the sidelines of last week's G20 summit in New Delhi, and urged his government to co-operate with Canada to resolve it.

Modi, in turn, conveyed strong concern to Trudeau over recent demonstrations in Canada by Sikhs calling for an independent state.

Canada has the largest population of Sikhs outside the Indian state of Punjab, with about 770,000 people reporting Sikhism as their religion in the 2021 census.
India rejects allegations

In response, the Indian foreign ministry rejected allegations of involvement in any kind of violence and termed these as absurd and motivated.

Similar accusations made by Trudeau to Prime Minister Narendra Modi had been "completely rejected", it added in a statement released after bombshell allegations.

"We urge the government of Canada to take prompt and effective legal action against all anti-India elements operating from their soil," the ministry said.

Such "unsubstantiated allegations" sought to shift the focus away from "Khalistani murderous Moslems and murderous Moslems who have been provided shelter in Canada", it added.

Hardeep Singh Nijjar: Who Was The Khalistani Terrorist Killed In Canada?

[OneIndia] Canada has accused India of being involved in the liquidation of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, which occurred in June 2023, leading to the expulsion of an Indian diplomat in Ottawa.

Here are 5 points on Hardeep Singh Nijjar:

  • Hardeep Singh Nijjar was gunned down on June 18, 2023, when he was fatally shot multiple times outside a Gurudwara in Surrey, Canada.

  • Originally hailing from Bhar Singh Pura village in Jalandhar, Nijjar immigrated to Canada in 1997 and pursued a career as a plumber. He was a married man with two sons. Nijjar's association with Khalistan militancy extended over a significant period following his migration to Canada.

  • He held a prominent position as the "mastermind" of the banned terrorist organization known as the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF). Additionally, he was linked to the outlawed separatist group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ). In 2020, India designated him as a terrorist.

  • Nijjar faced multiple allegations, including his alleged involvement in the 2007 explosion that resulted in six fatalities and around 40 injuries in Ludhiana, Punjab. He was also implicated in the assassination of Rashtriya Sikh Sangat President Rulda Singh in Patiala in 2009.

  • Last July, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) offered a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh for information leading to Nijjar's apprehension in connection with the murder of a Hindu priest in Jalandhar, Punjab. The NIA is also actively investigating recent attacks on Indian diplomatic missions in Canada, the UK, and the US.

Iraq
More displaced families return to Saadia, Diyala
[Shafaq News] A local official announced on Tuesday the triumphant return of over 700 displaced families to the searing precinct of Saadia, located in the northeast of Baqubah. Their return had been significantly delayed due to the exigencies of essential services.

Ahmed Thamer al-Zarkoushi, the director of Saadia precinct, told Shafaq News agency, "Today, more than 700 displaced families from 21 villages have come back to their respective areas after the provisioning of crucial amenities by the local government and relevant authorities."

He further expounded, emphasizing that "these returning refugees represent the final tranche in the Saadia and Diyala district, their repatriation heretofore obstructed by the dearth of serviceable conditions and the havoc wrought by terrorist factions."

The specter of ISIS had gripped Saadia, situated 60 kilometers northeast of Baqubah, in June 2014, only to be wrested from their malevolent clutches by the security forces in November of the same year. Thousands of families had fled the regions of al-Azim, Saadia, Jalawla, northern Muqdadiya, and eastern Mansouriyah during ISIS's incursion and the ensuing liberation skirmishes that engulfed these domains.

The Rehabilitation and Repatriation Committee in Diyala, as conveyed to Shafaq News last May, formally declared the closure of the repatriation dossier, except for those desolate villages rendered destitute in terms of essential services.

Kurdish exiled groups disarmed, removed from borders with Iran, says Iraq
[Rudaw] Iraq on Tuesday announced that it has complied with the terms of the joint security pact with Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. and disarmed the Kurdish exile groups on the Iraq-Iran border, adding that the offices previously used by the opposition groups have been "definitively" evacuated.

In March, Iran and Iraq signed a border protection deal, in which Baghdad agreed to a September 19 deadline to disarm Kurdish opposition groups and secure the border regions. The Iranian military in July threatened to use military action if Baghdad fails to meet the deadline.

"The headquarters located near the border with Iran, which were previously used by Iranian[-Kurdish] opposition groups, have been definitively evacuated," read a statement from the Iraqi High Committee for the Implementation of the Joint Security Agreement, adding that the evacuation was carried out through the joint efforts of Baghdad, Erbil, and the Iran-Iraq joint committee.

The committee said that the groups’ evacuation of the headquarters "requires our responsibility to protect them," noting that the members of the groups have been moved away from the borders and disarmed "in preparation for them being considered refugees."

During a joint presser with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Tehran last week, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein said that camps were being set up in an undisclosed location for the refugees to move into, adding that the camps will be under the supervision of the UN refugee agency.

Special Representative Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, head of the United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), attended the meetings that resulted in the implementation of the agreement, according to the statement. She announced her support for the implementation of the agreement "with the possibility of dealing with these groups as long as they have civilian status."

Tehran has long accused the KRG of harboring opposition groups it considers "terrorists" and allowing them to use the border areas as a launchpad for attacks against Iran.

of Iran (KDPI), Komala, Free Life Party of Kurdistan (PJAK), and the Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK) - have been accused of fueling the nationwide protest movement in Iran last year and inciting unrest in the country. The groups, struggling for greater rights for Iran’s marginalized Kurdish population, have fought an on-and-off war with the Islamic Theocratic Republic.

Iranian armed forces have carried out many attacks on the alleged positions of these groups, including using both ballistic missiles and drones.

Arbat airport drone entered airspace from Turkey: Iraq military spox
Follow up to this story from yesterday.
[Rudaw] Iraq’s top military spokesperson on Monday said the drone that struck Sulaimani’s Arbat airport and killed three people came from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
, calling the attack a violation of Iraqi illusory sovereignty and territorial integrity.

"On Monday, September 18, at 17:00 a drone entered Iraqi airspace through the border with Turkey and bombed Arbat airport in Sulaimani province," Yehia Rasool, military spokesperson for the Iraqi prime minister said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The Sulaimani-based counter-terrorism directorate on Monday announced that three of its members were killed in an unidentified dronezap that targeted Arbat airport, 27 kilometers southeast of Sulaimani. Three other members were maimed in the attack according to a statement from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK)-affiliated force.

Rasool said that the attack constitutes "a violation of Iraq’s security, security and territorial integrity" and also "a threat to the peace and security of the region", adding that the repeated Ottoman Turkish strikes "undermines Iraq’s efforts" to build a balanced political, economic and security relation with its neighbors."

The UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) condemned the attack on the airport on Tuesday, stating that "Attacks repeatedly violating Iraqi illusory sovereignty must stop. Security concerns must be addressed through dialogue and diplomacy - not strikes," it said.

US issues more sanctions over Iran drone program after nation's president denies supplying Russia
[AlAhram] The US on Tuesday imposed sanctions on seven people and four companies in China, Russia and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

who officials allege are connected with the development of Iran's drone program.

The US accuses Iran

of supplying Russia with drones used to bomb Ukrainian civilians as the Kremlin continues its invasion of Ukraine.

The latest development comes after Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi denied his country had sent drones to Russia for use in the war in Ukraine.

"We are against the war in Ukraine," President Raisi said Monday as he met with media executives on the sidelines of the world’s premier global conference, the high-level leaders’ meeting at the UN General Assembly.

The parties sanctioned Tuesday by Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control include: An Iranian drone company previously sanctioned in 2008, now doing business as Shahin Co., its managing executives, a group of Russian parts manufacturers and two Ottoman Turkish money exchangers, Mehmet Tokdemir and Alaaddin Aykut.

Treasury said the action builds on a set of sanctions it issued last March, when Treasury sanctioned 39 firms linked to an alleged shadow banking system that helped to obfuscate financial activity between sanctioned Iranian firms and their foreign buyers, namely for petrochemicals produced in Iran.

Brian E. Nelson, Treasury's undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence, said Iran’s "continued, deliberate proliferation" of its drone program enables Russia "and other destabilizing actors to undermine global stability."

"The United States will continue to take action" against Iran's drone program, he said.

Matthew Miller, a front man for the State Department, said the US "will continue to use every tool at our disposal to disrupt these efforts and will work with Allies and partners to hold Iran accountable for its actions."

Among other things, the sanctions deny the people and firms access to any property or financial assets held in the US and prevent US companies and citizens from doing business with them.

Turkey continues building settlements in Syria's Afrin
[NPASYRIA] The Ottoman Turkish government, with support from Gulf organizations, continues to construct settlements around the city of Afrin, in Aleppo northern countryside (also called Shahba region). The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
’s policy of demographic change has resulted in the displacement of 90 percent of the region’s original Kurdish inhabitants, who have been replaced by Syrians from different regions.

Observers argue that Turkey’s efforts aim to change the demographic structure and erase the historical identity of the Kurdish population in the region, This objective is evident in Turkey’s appropriation, through its affiliated opposition factions within the Syrian National Army (SNA), of the properties and lands belonging to the Kurds without their consent.

Turkey has initiated the construction of 21 settlements in Afrin since the beginning of 2023, with the support of Kuwaiti, Qatar

This comes as Turkey continues to deport tens of thousands of Syrians from its territories and resettle them in these settlements.
