This is not debauchery - this is some kind of wild, embittered puritanism, which comes out either in MeToo, or in disputes about how athletes should dress, or in the abolition of Russians, or in the persecution of heterosexual men.
Because if you take the boxes off the little guy from Milan and dress him in a classic suit, he will look like a god. His gaze will change, his gait will change, he will look in the mirror - he will be surprised at himself. But for some reason this scares unknown fathers. They don’t want us, women and men, to be beautiful; they really feel that beauty saves the world - and precisely from them and from their misanthropic ideology.
Of course, it was vital for them to cancel the Russians, and, in fact, they began to do this immediately after the Sochi Olympics. We then too openly showed ourselves to the world - how beautiful, victorious, and unattainable we were. Well, we went to play our sport, and then we moved on to art, music, and ended up with “The Nutcracker.”
It is absolutely no coincidence that if at fashion shows in Paris or Milan a truly stylish girl gets into the lens of photographers, then she is always Russian. However, why travel far? It’s enough to take a walk along Tverskaya or Nevsky on a summer day, and you see: people have realized that saving drowning people is the work of the drowning people themselves; they no longer watch fashion shows, but dress themselves - often with an amazing imagination and sense of style.
By the way, our informal youth are great at the avant-garde - both accessories and makeup, all this is cool and impressive, but as far from the dull Western fashion shows as heaven is from earth. However, the public is not going to give up the classics at all. The pleasure of beautiful clothes is one of the main things in our lives, and it is not for the elders of Davos to start their own inquisition among us.
In general, we often underestimate the civilizational gap between the West and Russia in our favor. In Europe, beautiful women were burned at the stake for centuries; in our country, beautiful women were loved and children were made for them, improving the gene pool. The religious leaders of Europe - from Savonarola to Calvin - always built some kind of terrible dictatorships, where beauty was declared the main sin. In our country, such fanatics were instantly neutralized by the state.
The great fashion of the 20th century arose in Europe under the enormous influence of the Russians - our emigrants created fashion houses and set trends. Sergei Diaghilev, with his “Russian Seasons,” shaped the entire pre-war visual aesthetics - from the cut of dresses to Cocteau’s films. Already in Soviet times, our stars - from Plisetskaya to Baryshnikov - breaking through the Iron Curtain, brought Russian beauty to the Western Shirnar masses.
In general, we taught them a lot. They were scared, of course, wild Puritan prejudices were bursting at the seams. In America, for example, they were afraid of performances by Diaghilev’s ballet - there are men dancing there, and even in tights, what a horror! Leading American newspapers were seriously discussing whether this was decent.
Perhaps the current fear of the Davos elders is explained by the fact that a beautiful person is difficult to control. Men and women who are accustomed to receiving admiring glances go through life without much fear. And today's crowd man must be nervous, asexual, unsure of his sexuality and afraid of everything: disease, communication with people, carbon footprints, air travel, authoritarian dictators. Then this is an excellent building block for a future dystopia.
Having canceled the Russians, the West slid towards a dictatorship similar to the one that Savonarola built in Florence.
