Along the border, emotions are high over Trump's order to send in the National Guard
[Desert Sun] In southern Imperial County, opinions on President Donald Trump's plan to send the National Guard to the United States-Mexico border are as divided as the tall fence separating the two nations. Governor Jerry Brown is still reviewing the president's request, which some in this region say could help increase safety in the region; others worry it will inflame tensions between the two nations.

In El Centro, the largest city in the Imperial Valley, several customers said they supported the idea.

"We only live 11 miles from the border, so you don't really want to take any chances," said longtime resident Steve Trease. He said he worked for U.S. Customs and Border Protection for more than two decades.

In a presidential memorandum issued last week, Trump ordered the Department of Homeland Security and the Pentagon to develop a plan to tighten security along the southern border. He also called on governors of southwestern states to send National Guardsmen to the border.

Trump said the country's security is threatened by illegal drugs, gang activity and extensive illegal immigration. The number of people caught trying to illegally cross the Mexican border last year was the lowest since 1971, according to Homeland Security.

The order came less than a week after Trump ranted on Twitter about a caravan of more than a thousand Central American migrants that was making its way through Mexico.

#1  Just the crisis and confrontation Moonbeam desires. He'll refuse to mobilize the California Guard and forcefully prohibit the deployment of military forces or reconnaissance aircraft from outside the State of California.

The physical conflict and face-off is coming. I don't know when, but it is coming.

Except I think it'll happen when Brown orders California State Police, and maybe even California National Guard, to move on counties that voted against "sanctuary".

I'm thinking he's going to withhold state funds from those counties and cities until they see the light...and I would bet the house payment that he'll find a court that will back him.up.

#7  California is one of the states that maintains its own military units that aren't Guard units, so they could use them instead of the guard to avoid Trump nationalizing the guard.

But if he did, and the went against the state units, there would be a war.

#10  See the source image

Most people voted for Trump's message in 2016 despite what Jerry Brown thinks. Even some in CA supported Trump's agenda. Most people are tired of "Open Borders" and all that it brings with it: drugs, illegal immigrants, and human trafficking. According to the map, most people want to maintain our sovereignty rather than sell out to the UN, Soro's crowd and the globalists.

#17  California's governor agrees to deploy 400 National Guard troops at Trump's request:

"Dear Secretary Nielsen and Secretary Mattis:

Pursuant to your request, the California National Guard will accept federal funding to add approximately 400 Guard members statewide to supplement the staffing of its ongoing program to combat transnational crime. This program is currently staffed by 250 personnel statewide, including 55 at the California border.

Your funding for new staffing will allow the Guard to do what it does best: support operations targeting transnational criminal gangs, human traffickers and illegal firearm and drug smugglers along the border, the coast and throughout the state. Combating these criminal threats are priorities for all Americans – Republicans and Democrats. That’s why the state and the Guard have long supported this important work and agreed to similar targeted assistance in 2006 under President Bush and in 2010 under President Obama.

But let’s be crystal clear on the scope of this mission. This will not be a mission to build a new wall. It will not be a mission to round up women and children or detain people escaping violence and seeking a better life. And the California National Guard will not be enforcing federal immigration laws.

Here are the facts: there is no massive wave of migrants pouring into California. Overall immigrant apprehensions on the border last year were as low as they’ve been in nearly 50 years (and 85 percent of the apprehensions occurred outside of California).

I agree with the Catholic Bishops
[points for loathsome use of "Catholic Bishops" (useful idiots)] who have said that local, state and federal officials should “work collaboratively and prudently in the implementation of this deployment, ensuring that the presence of the National Guard is measured and not disruptive to community life.”

I look forward to working with you on this important effort.

Sincerely,

Edmund G. Brown Jr."

Well, the Border Patrol bigwigs have indicated that the NG will be mostly engaged in border monitoring duties. Not sure how this needle will be threaded, but it will be. Either that or there will 400 sets of BDU's on KP, vehicle maintenance, etc.

Egypt's Court of Cassation orders retrial for 8 defendants in Waraq terrorist cell case
[AlAhram] Egypt’s Court of Cassation overturned on Tuesday death sentences and jail terms and ordered a retrial for defendants previously convicted in the "Waraq terrorist cell" case.

The court ordered the retrial after reviewing appeals filed by eight of the defendants, who had been sentenced to verdicts ranging from five-year prison terms, life imprisonment and death sentences.

The defendants will be retried in a different criminal court district.

Tuesday’s ruling comes more than one year after a Giza criminal court sentenced two of the defendants to death, two to life imprisonment, and four to five-year terms.

The defendants were convicted of joining an outlawed group, killing a policeman and a civilian, and possessing weaponry in Waraq district, northern Giza in February 2016.
I have no idea who these people are. They could be Ansar Bayt al Maqdis, Muslim Brotherhood, Hasm, or some other group acting out in that busy corner of Egypt.

Egypt military court sentences 36 people to death over deadly 2017 church bombings
[AlAhram] An Alexandria military court issued on Tuesday preliminary death sentences against 36 people convicted of involvement in deadly bombings on two Egyptian churches in Alexandria and Tanta in April 2017.
The case involves 48 defendants, 31 of whom are in jug and 17 are runaways.

The court has referred the case to the country's Grand Mufti for his non-binding opinion on the death sentence as per Egyptian law. The verdict is subject to appeal.

According to the prosecution, a number of the defendants formed an illegal group that calls for the suspension of the law and the constitution, the obstruction of state institutions from carrying out their duties, and assaulting the personal freedom of citizens.

The prosecution charged three of the defendants with training a number of the group’s members in manufacturing explosives, using weaponry, and combat tactics at training camps.

The defendants were convicted of a number of terrorist attacks against civilians and coppers in 2016 and 2017.

In April 2017, jacket wallahs attacked St George's Church in Tanta and St Mark's Cathedral in Alexandria on Palm Sunday, killing 46 people and injuring dozens.

Both attacks were claimed by the ISIS terrorist group.

One day after the April attacks, the interior ministry said that police had killed seven members of a terrorist cell involved in the bombings in a shootout in Upper Egypt's Assiut governorate.

A three-month state of emergency ‐ which has since been renewed every three months ‐ was declared by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on the day of the church attacks.

The defendants were also charged with participating in a January 2017 attack on a security checkpoint in Egypt’s New Valley governorate near the Western Desert, killing eight coppers.

The attack on the Naqb checkpoint took place some 80 kilometres away from the lovely provincial capital of al-Kharga, and more than 600 kilometres southwest of Cairo.

Saudi considering proposal to set up military base, nuclear waste site on Qatar border

...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...

They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
, turning the peninsula-nation into an island and transforming its only land border into a military zone and nuclear waste site, state-linked Saudi newspapers reported on Monday.

The project has not been given official approval and faces many obstacles. Still, the proposal signals a new low in the 10-month-old feud between Qatar and a quartet of nations that includes Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Bahrain.

The four accuse Qatar of sponsoring terrorism because of its support for miltant opposition groups in the region and its warm relations with Iran. Qatar denies the allegations and says the moves attempt to undermine its illusory sovereignty.

Qatar's ruling emir, Sheik Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, met in Washington on Monday with United States Defence Secretary Jim Mattis. He is scheduled to meet President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
on Tuesday.

Saudi Arabia's Sabq and al-Riyadh newspapers carried nearly identical reports Monday saying that under the proposal, Saudi Arabia would transform part of its side of the border with Qatar into a military base and another area would become a dump site for waste from nuclear reactors the kingdom wants to build.

The UAE, meanwhile, would also build a nuclear waste site at the closest point near its border with Qatar.

An earlier report by Sabq newspaper ran with a headline saying the canal project would "turn Qatar into an island" and would take just 12 months to complete.

The so-called Salwa Marine Canal project would be funded by Saudi and Emirati investors and dug by Egyptian companies with experience in the Suez Canal.

Sabq reports the canal would span the entirety of the border with Qatar, creating waterfront coastline for resorts, private beaches and Gulf cruise liners. The canal, estimated to cost 2.8 billion riyals ($750 million), would stretch 200 meters wide and up to 20 meters deep.

Six men released after no evidence found of terror plot against Berlin half marathon
Brilliant, guys.
[TheLocal.de] Police in Berlin said on Monday that they had released six men detained the previous day amid fears of an Islamist attack on a half marathon that drew large crowds.

Searches of their homes and vehicles had netted neither weapons nor explosives or other evidence.

"The detainees are being released," Berlin police spokeswoman Patricia Braemer told AFP.

Interior Minister Horst Seehofer nonetheless praised the detentions Sunday as a prudent preventative measure for a country that has suffered several deadly jihadist attacks.

"We have a very tense security situation," Seehofer said, adding that Germany faced the continued threat of another attack at any time.

Berlin authorities said Sunday they had detained the men aged 18 to 21 after receiving indications of a possible plot to carry out a "violent crime" at the sports event.

The security services said that on that basis, and after a deadly van rampage on Saturday in the western German city of Munster, they had decided to swoop on the suspects.

The half marathon, which drew 36,000 runners and big crowds of onlookers with 630 police in attendance, went off without incident.

The Die Welt and Der Tagesspiegel newspapers reported that one of the six detainees had links to Tunisian asylum-seeker Anis Amri, who carried out a deadly truck attack on a Berlin Christmas market in December 2016.

Amri had hijacked a truck and murdered its Polish driver before killing another 11 people and wounding dozens more by ploughing the heavy vehicle through the crowd. He was rubbed out by Italian police in Milan four days later while on the run.

German security services estimate there are around 10,000 Islamist gunnies in Germany, some 1,600 of whom are suspected of being potentially violent.

Liberman orders expansion of Gaza’s fishing zone for 3 months
[IsraelTimes] The Israeli Navy expands the fishing zone allowed to Gazook fishermen from six nautical miles to nine for the next three months, following a decision Tuesday by Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman.

The decision is seen as one step to ease tensions in Gazoo as mass protests continue along its border with Israel.

Israel has maintained a naval and land blockade along its borders with Gazoo since the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, terror group gained control of the territory from the Paleostinian Authority in 2007.

IDF to discipline soldiers who filmed sniper video
Private pleasures are not meant to be shared publicly, guys.
[Jpost] As mixed feelings surface from all sides, the IDF released the results of a preliminary investigation into the incident.

The army is investigating an incident in which soldiers on the Gazoo border apparently filmed themselves cursing and cheering at Paleostinians while shooting them.

The video was released on social media Monday as part of the media battle pro-Paleostinians and pro-Israelis have waged on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube with regard to incidents surrounding the so-called "Great March of Return" that began on March 30.
Video can be seen at the link.
It was initially believed to have depicted IDF snipers shooting at "Great March" participants. But the IDF said on Tuesday that it was actually filmed on December 22.
Well then.
In the video, a number of soldiers can be heard talking as one looks through a rifle scope at Paleostinians on the Gazoo side of the border and target one of them.

All the video shows is the scene just before and just beyond border through the rifle scope.

THE IDF said that the video was taken during a violent incident that lasted for more than two hours, during which time Paleostinians were asked to disperse.

During that time, Paleostinians threw stones and tried to sabotage the security fence. The shot in the video was aimed at the foot of a Paleostinian. He was maimed in the leg as he stood close to the fence, the IDF said.

The soldiers who filmed the video were not the soldiers who fired, and were not a regular part of the unit, the army said.

After a full operational investigation of the incident is completed, its recommendation will be passed on to military prosecution, the IDF said.

The soldiers who filmed and unlawfully distributed the videos will be disciplined according to regular procedures, the army said.

7 Myanmar soldiers sentenced to 10 years over Rohingya killings: army
[DAWN] Seven soldiers in Myanmar were sentenced for their part in the extrajudicial killings of 10 Rohingya Moslem men, according to a Facebook post by the army chief late on Tuesday.

The bloody incident in Inn Din village on 2 September is the only atrocity to which the military has admitted during its violent crackdown in northern Rakhine state which has forced some 700,000 Rohingya to flee over the border into Bangladesh since August last year.

in December on the outskirts of Yangon for possessing classified documents that could land them up to 14 years in jail if convicted.

A month after their detention, the military issued a statement in a rare admission of wrongdoing that some of its security forces had been involved in the killing and pledging to take action against those responsible.

"Four officers have been purged (from the army) and given a 10 year prison sentence with hard labour. A further three soldiers were purged and given a 10 year prison sentence with hard labour in a criminal prison," the post read.

Sixty-seven buses carrying hundreds of fighters, along with family members and other civilians who did not wish to come back under Assad's rule, reached opposition areas near Aleppo on Tuesday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

RIA news agency quoted Russia's Defence Ministry as saying 3,600 bully boyz and their families had left Douma over the past 24 hours. As part of the surrender deal, the Jaish al-Islam

group which controlled the town released scores of people it had been holding.

The deal took effect on Sunday, hours after medical aid groups reported the suspected chemical attack, saying it had killed dozens of people in the town the day after the government renewed its intense bombardment.

Jaish al-Islam's departure will bring to an end the opposition presence in eastern Ghouta after a seven-week military offensive against the densely populated area.

Thousands of fighters from other rebel groups, accompanied by tens of thousands of civilians, have already left for northwestern Syria after surrender deals for the Ghouta's other major towns.

It represents Assad's biggest battlefield victory over rebels since late 2016 when he fully recaptured Aleppo, and underlines his unassailable position in the war.

Western countries have said Assad's assault on eastern Ghouta was a violation of a Security Council resolution calling for a complete ceasefire across Syria.

Damascus and Moscow said the groups controlling the area were not covered by the truce, and the offensive was needed to end the control of Islamist Lions of Islam over the area's large civilian population and to stop mortar attacks on the capital.

#1  So far, we don't know what chemicals were used in the chemical attack. We don't know who did it. Now, news sources are referring to the attack as "alleged." Everyone has denied the attack.

Assad has been winning. The Lions of Islam have the most to gain by launching a chemical attack. Such an attack would keep the U.S. in Syria against Russia and Iran.

Although it is tempting to just wipe out the country and be done with it, too little is being reported to justify a knee-jerk reaction. How would you know when it's been wiped out? Sand to sand.

Iran Says 7 Dead in Syria Strike Will 'Not Go Unanswered'
[AnNahar] Iran said Tuesday the number of its soldiers killed in an air strike in Syria this week had risen to seven and that it would not go unanswered.

Iranian media reported that seven bodies had been flown back to Tehran for burial following Monday's strike against the T-4 airbase in Homs.

Syria, Russia and Iran have blamed Israel for the attack, which Tehran had initially said killed four military advisers.

"The Zionist regime's attack on Syria will not go unanswered," said Ali Akbar Velayati, foreign policy adviser to supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

Iran is a key ally of the Syrian government, alongside Russia, and Velayati was speaking on arrival in Damascus where he was due to meet with Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif hit back at U.S. President Donald Trump

, who has said Russia and Iran share the blame for an alleged chemical attack in a rebel-held town in Syria.

Iran "has consistently condemned use of chemical weapons by anyone (and) is itself the victim of their use by Saddam with U.S. support," Zarif wrote on Twitter, referring to chemical attacks during Iran's war with Iraq in the 1980s.

Trump's "threats to repeat impulsive acts of aggression is symptomatic of U.S. policy helping holy warriors," Zarif added.

The U.S. president has threatened a "forceful" response to the alleged chemical attack.

The Times of Israel adds:
Israel’s military has been put on high alert amid heightened tensions along the northern border and with Iran threatening to avenge an airstrike on a Syrian air base believed to have killed at least 14 people, including 7 Iranian military personnel.

Israeli officials did not appear to be taking the threat of a retaliatory attack lightly — either by Iran, or its proxy, the Hezbollah terrorist group.

On Tuesday, Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman appeared to allude to the strike, saying that Israel “will not allow Iranian entrenchment in Syria. Whatever the cost.”

Keeping in line with Israel’s stance of ambiguity on attacks outside the country’s borders, the defense minister prefaced his remarks with a wry “I don’t know what happened.”

“Accepting Iranian entrenchment in Syria would be to accept Iranians putting a chokehold on us. We cannot allow that,” Liberman said.

In a highly unusual move, Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency acknowledged that “Iranian military advisers” were killed in Monday’s attack on the military airfield.

Seven IRGC members were killed in the strike, including one high-ranking officer, Col. Mehdi Dehghan, who reportedly served in one of the group’s drone units.
The Tasnim media outlet, which has been affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, specified that seven IRGC members were killed in the strike, including one high-ranking officer, Col. Mehdi Dehghan, who reportedly served in one of the group’s drone units.

This appeared to be only the second time that Iran has acknowledged casualties in Syria. The first was in 2015, when an IRGC general was killed in a strike directed against Hezbollah leader Jihad Mughniyeh, which was also attributed to Israel.

In that case, the Iran-backed Hezbollah terrorist group retaliated 10 days later with an ambush, firing anti-tank missiles at two IDF jeeps, killing two soldiers and injuring seven more.

Israel is believed to have carried out numerous raids inside Syria since 2013, targeting the regime and its Lebanese arch-foe Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran.

Iran has deployed thousands of fighters to Syria, presented as "volunteers" from Afghanistan and Pakistain and trained locally by Iranian "military advisers." It denies having a military presence in the war-torn country.

Islamic Jihad chief said in coma; group denies reports of poisoning
[IsraelTimes] Terror organization insists Ramadan Shalah, who underwent surgery in Leb recently, is ill due to 'natural causes'

Ramadan Shalah, the secretary-general of the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad

Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. terror group, has reportedly been in a coma for the past few weeks amid fears that he may have been poisoned.

On Tuesday, however, the group denied that Shalah had been the target of an liquidation attempt, saying his illness was the result of "natural causes."

"Shalah is suffering from a natural illness and we wish him speedy recovery," said Ahmed Al Mudalal, a senior Islamic Jihad official. He did not say what Shalah was suffering from. Also, he would neither confirm nor deny the reports stating Shalah was in a coma.

Shalah, 60, was transferred from Damascus, where he lives, to a hospital in Beirut after suffering a series of heart attacks, a source close to the group told the Paleostinian Quds Press news agency.

Shalah has been unconscious since undergoing surgery at the Beirut hospital, the report said.

The Iranian-backed Hezbollah terror group, which is based in Leb, has "shown great interest" in the health condition of Shalah, it said.
No doubt.
Although the source attributed the Islamic Jihad leader’s deteriorating health to "natural causes," the Paleostinian Authority embassy in Beirut believes there’s a possibility Shalah may have been poisoned.

The man in charge of security at the embassy sent a report to the PA General Intelligence Service in the West Bank in which he raised the possibility that Shalah had been poisoned, the news agency said, quoting an unnamed source in the PA’s ruling Fatah faction.

That report, according to the news agency, said that two parties may have been behind the alleged poisoning: the Israeli Mossad or a security agency "belonging to a regional country." The report did not name the country.

Shalah, who was born in the Gazoo Strip, was appointed head of the terror group after the liquidation of his predecessor, Fathi Shikaki, in 2005 in Malta.

Closely allied with Iran and Syria, Islamic Jihad is an offshoot of the Moslem Brüderbund that was formed in Gazoo in 1981. Active in both Gazoo and the West Bank, it seeks the destruction of Israel and has carried out numerous bombings and suicide kabooms on Israeli targets, and fired rockets into Israel from Gazoo.
Other sources have a different take on the situation:
Report: Islamic Jihad leader suffers massive stroke

[Ynet] Ramadan Shalah, the secretary-general of the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad, reportedly had to undergo surgery to save his life; Islamic Jihad denies reports there was an attempt on his life, saying he merely suffering from 'natural illness.'

Paleostinian Islamic Jihad leader Ramadan Shalah has reportedly suffered a massive stroke and had to undergo surgery in an attempt to save his life, according to Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,-affiliated media reports Tuesday.

According to the reports, which have not been confirmed, Shalah will not be able to fully return to work.

Shalah, who is normally located in Syria, is reportedly currently in Leb.

Islamic Jihad officials said the terror group's leadership has already begun thinking of holding elections to find a replacement for Shalah, in case he is unable to resume his duties.

Shalah has been the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad's secretary-general since 1995, after the liquidation of Fathi Shaqaqi. He was one of the terror group's founders and in the organization's early days he also edited the movement's journal.

He spent most of his years at the Islamic Jihad headquarters in Damascus, commanding over terror attacks and rocket fire launched at Israel.

The 60-year-old Paleostinian terrorist, who was born in Gazoo, is on the FBI's Most Wanted list, with the prize on his head set at $5 million.

He has a doctorate from a British university and has worked as a lecturer for international relations in Florida.
Bottom line: Islamic Jihad’s Number One is permanently out of commission, and the leadership do not want to have to go after anyone until they’ve replaced him — and maybe not thereafter. Well done, someone!
