Columbia Professor Urged to Step Down After Blaming Israel for ‘Every Dirty’ Act in World
[BREITBART] 250 people signed an open letter Tuesday calling on Columbia University to urge a professor to step down over his "anti-Semitic bigotry" after he claimed Israel is behind "every dirty treacherous ugly and pernicious act happening in the world."

Hamid Dabashi, who teaches Iranian Studies and Comparative Literature at the university, came under fire for a post shared on his Facebook page ‐ which has since been taken down ‐ in which he also slammed "opponents of the Iran Nuclear deal" as "diehard Fifth Column Zionists."

He also sent out a tweet, which is still active, blaming Israel for every "ugly" act "happening in the world."

Afghanistan
Russian pilot shot down in Afghanistan in 1980s found alive
[PRESSTV] A Russian pilot who was missing and presumed dead after his warplane was shot down 30 years ago during former Soviet military invasion of Afghanistan has been found alive and wishes to return home.

"He is still alive. It’s very astonishing. Now he needs help," the head of the Russian paratroopers’ union Valery Vostrotin said in a Friday interview with Moscow-based RIA Novosti news agency.

Vostrotin, who is also the head of the Russian side of a joint US-Russia commission on prisoners of war and soldiers missing in action, refused to reveal the identity of the pilot.

The deputy head of another Russian veterans' organization called Battle Brotherhood, Vyacheslav Kalinin, said the newly-discovered pilot was shot down in 1987 and was likely over 60 years old now.

He also hinted that the pilot may be at a prisoners of war camp held by Afghanistan in Pak territory and that he wished to return to his native country.

Russia’s business daily Kommersant reported that only one Soviet pilot was shot down in 1987, identifying him as Sergei Pantelyuk from the southern Russian Rostov region.

It said Pantelyuk and his aircraft went missing after taking off from Kabul’s Bagram airfield, which is now a US military air base.

According to RIA Novosti, 125 Soviet warplanes were shot down across Afghanistan in the course of its military occupation of the country between 1979 and 1989.

Nearly 300 soldiers were listed as missing when Soviet troops withdrew from the Asian nation in 1989, only 30 of whom have been located since the pullout and returned to their native countries.

The news agency also cited Russian Senator Frants Klintsevich as saying that there are far more of similar cases, noting that he had met a former Soviet veteran during a visit to Afghanistan a few years back who did not wish to return home.

In 2015, Agence La Belle France-Presse interviewed a former Soviet soldier, identifying him as Bakhretdin Khakimov, saying he was maimed but recovered following treatment by local people. Khakimov then converted to Islam and decided to remain in Afghanistan, reasoning that "Afghans are very kind and hospitable people."

#4  Russia in the '80s vs Afghanistan, which to choose? It's a bit of a toss-up.

There is a movie from that era called "The Beast": "A Soviet tank and its warring crew become separated from their patrol and lost in an Afghan valley with a group of vengeance-seeking rebels on their tracks."

In a memorable scene, one of captured tankers invokes the phrase whereby a traveler asks for hospitality. This pisses off the mujis because now, according to their custom, not only can they not kill him, they must feed him too. Aloha snackbar, indeed!

It was nekulturny Commies who convinced them to invade,
And they hate the way Tchaikovsky, Blok, and Tolstoy've been betrayed!
Let's be nice to them
And nix the slice and dice with them
And offer them tea and treat them fair and square.
Let's show them Muslim charity,
Eschewing all barbarity...
If we hear "Nanawatai!" from the Bear.

Taliban reject US commander’s statement on peace talks
[DAWN] The Taliban
...Arabic for students...
say they "categorically reject" a statement made this week by the US commander of coalition forces in Afghanistan about "off stage" contacts and dialogue taking place between the Kabul government and the Lion of Islams.

Taliban front man Zabihullah Mujahid says in a statement distributed to the media on Friday that Gen John Nicholson’s remarks, made to news hounds at the Pentagon from his Kabul office, were a "baseless claim."

Nicholson said that "mid-level, senior-level Taliban leaders" are "engaging with Afghans," adding that unspecified international organizations, foreign governments and other interested parties also are involved.

Grand Mufti calls Libyans to declare civil disobedience if Derna shelling does not stop
[Libya Observer] Libyan Grand Mufti Sheikh al-Sadiq al-Ghariani
...Libyan Moslem Brüderhood Grand Mufti since 2012. Issued a fatwa forbidding Libyan women from marrying foreign men. Issued a "fatwa against a UN Commission on the Status of Women's report because it urged governments to protect women and girls against violence" Aligned with the GNC govt...
called on all Libyans to support their brothers in Derna by all means within their capabilities and to declare civil disobedience if the shelling on the city does not stop.

During his weekly program on Tanasuh TV, Sheikh al-Sadiq said "what is happening in Derna in this holy month is preposterous. Foreign aircraft are bombing your brothers in Derna and denying them water, electricity, and medicine, how could you accept such thing and do nothing about it?"

Addressing the Libyans, Sheikh al-Sadiq warned that silence and failure to support the weak is foreboding a bleak future.

"What is happening in Derna is not a war on terrorism, but a war on all Libyans in order to subdue them," the Grand Mufti explained, adding that the foreign forces colluded with local forces under the name of the war on terrorism on the city of Derna, calling on the Libyans to be more cautious on what is going on.

Arabia
Abu Dhabi within range of Yemeni missiles: Houthi spokesman
[PRESSTV] Yemen's army front man has warned the UAE that its capital, Abu Dhabi, is "no longer safe" from missiles fired in retaliation for the Saudi-led military campaign on the impoverished state.

"From now on Abu Dhabi is no longer safe, it will be within our ballistic missiles' range," Brigadier General Sharaf Ghaleb Luqman said in a statement carried by Yemen's official Saba news agency on Friday.

Luqman also urged investors in Abu Dhabi to take his warning seriously.

The UAE is a key member of a Saudi-led invasion that began in March 2015 in support of Yemen’s former Riyadh-friendly government and against the Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
Ansarullah movement.

The offensive has killed and injured over 600,000 civilians, according to the Yemeni Ministry of Human Rights.

Elsewhere in his statement, the front man said the Yemeni army would confront the military escalation by the UAE forces in the country's western coast in Hudaydah.

"Yemen's army supported by popular committees has recaptured most of the areas in the western coast," he said. "Islands and areas, where the occupation forces of the Saudi-UAE-led coalition are stationing, will be a cemetery."

The remarks came amid a recent military build-up by the UAE-backed forces in Yemen's western port city of Hudaydah and the Socotra Island.

Luqman further rejected reports of advances by the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen's northern Sa'ada Province as false.

German intelligence: Iran still working to acquire WMD technology
[IsraelTimes] Dossier concludes Tehran has been conducting industrial espionage focused on technology and engineering companies in bid to boost missile program

Iran has been continuing its efforts to acquire weapons of mass destruction, Fox News reported Saturday, citing an intelligence report published by a German state intelligence agency.

"Iran continued to undertake ‐ as did Pakistain and Syria ‐ efforts to obtain goods and know-how to be used for the development of weapons of mass destruction and to optimize corresponding missile delivery systems," said the dossier put together by the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution, the intelligence agency of the German state of Baden-Wurttemberg ‐ the German equivalent of the FBI that operates at a state level.

Turkey's Erdogan calls on NATO ally US to fulfill its strategic partner role
[PRESSTV] Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
has called on its NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
ally the US to act as a strategic partner instead of blocking its arms deals.

Erdogan made remarks on Saturday in response to US plans to block F-35 sales to Ankara.

"We say that the US is our strategic partner. As our strategic partner, the US should not say we should knock on another door," he said.

"If we are strategic partners, if we are model partners, the US should not legally wrong us here," he further noted.

"We are not interested with the Senate. There is only one thing that interests us. Have I discussed this with the president of the US? I have. Have we talked about this in our inter-delegation meeting? We have." he commented.

On Wednesday, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
said it will look elsewhere to equip its air force if the United States blocks the sale of Lockheed Martin’s F-35 fighter jets to Ankara.

Speaking to Ottoman Turkish media Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Washington has not yet exerted any pressure on Ankara to cancel the deal after a US Senate committee last week passed its version of a $716-billion military policy bill, including a measure to prevent Turkey from purchasing the jets.

India-Pakistan
India to buy anti-tank missiles from Israel
[PRESSTV] India is reportedly set to buy a batch of anti-tank guided missiles from Israel in a bid to boost its military capabilities against arch-rival Pakistain.

Indian government is likely to soon finalize with Israel purchase of a batch of Spike anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs), which would significantly enhance its anti-tank capability against Islamabad, according to news reported on Times of India on Friday.

The report quoted an unnamed source as saying the anti-tank Spike missiles would be used as a "stop-gap" measure before the India’s Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) could come up with an indigenous anti-tank missile of its own within the next three years.

The purchase proposal is at an advanced stage and is awaiting New Delhi’s approval, the source said, without revealing any details.

The order for the anti-tank guided missile, made by Israeli firm Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd., could be placed this year to meet the Indian army's urgent requirements, according to the source.

A Rafael front man confirmed that a potential deal was under discussion with New Delhi, but declined to comment further until any signing was done.

The decision was made months after the Indian government scrapped a previously negotiated deal to buy 500-million-dollar worth of Spike missiles.

However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the deal was "back on" after the meeting with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi during his visit to New Delhi in January.

Iraq
Iraqi Shia group vows 'Dire Revenge™' after fresh US sanctions
[PRESSTV] Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq has called on the Iraqi government to take action against a US bill that seeks sanctions on the group after predominately Shia blocs won most seats in last month's parliamentary election.

The US House of Representatives unanimously voted on a draft law requiring President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
to sanction "persons that are officials, agents, affiliates of or owned and controlled by" Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq and Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba, another Iraqi Shia group.

The measure has been sent to Senate for approval before becoming law.

In a statement released on Friday, Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq vowed to avenge Washington's "arrogant policies," describing the House decision as foolish.

It also urged the Iraqi Foreign Ministry to take measures against the US embassy in Baghdad in response to the controversial sanctions bill.

Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq is part of the Fatah (Conquest) alliance led by secretary general of Badr Organization Hadi al-Ameri, which finished second in the May 12 election with 47 out of 329 parliamentary seats.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
NATO says won’t defend Israel in case of Iran attack
Did anyone ask them to?
[PRESSTV] NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
’s secretary-general says the Western military alliance would not come to Israel’s defense in case of any possible attack by Iran against the occupying regime.

Israel has repeatedly threatened Iran with military action and Iranian officials have pledged a "crushing" response to any act of aggression against the country.

Jens Stoltenberg told the German Der Spiegel magazine in comments published Saturday that Israel is a partner, but not a member and that NATO's "security guarantee" does not apply to the regime.
Regime?? Jenselein, liebling — Israel is a parliamentary democracy, exactly like all the members of NATO except the U.S, which is a democratic republic. But perhaps this is not what the gentleman said, but how the Iran PressTV reporter chose to translate it.
Stoltenberg said NATO was involved neither in peace efforts nor in conflicts in the Middle East.

Israel, which has a long history of waging wars and occupying sovereign states, has been trying to portray Iran, which has not attacked any nation for hundreds of years, as a threat to world peace.

Over the past years, the regime has been intensely lobbying with its American and European allies to dissuade them from engaging in diplomacy with Iran over its nuclear program and support instead a military action against the Islamic Theocratic Republic.

Israel's 'golden days' over after defeat of terrorists: Shamkhani
[PRESSTV] Iran's top security official says there is a link between Israel's stepped-up threats against Tehran and the defeat of Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
bandidos turbans in Iraq and Syria, which has made Tel Aviv angry.

Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani told Shargh daily in interview published Saturday that the emergence of Takfiri terrorism and bloodshed in the Middle East gave Israel "incredible golden years of security."

"Now, with the defeat of Takfiri bandidos turbans in Syria and Iraq, which Israel sees the result of Iran's role, those golden days have ended and once again Paleostine has turned into the first issue in the Moslem world," he said.

Israel has claimed to have hit Iranian military targets in Syria in recent weeks and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Tel Aviv would not allow Iran to establish any military bases in Syria.

The Islamic Theocratic Republic says its role in Syria is limited to advisory assistance to the Syrian government, stressing that it does not have any military bases in the Arab country.

Shamkhani said, "While we understand this anger [by Israel], we will be taking any necessary action or measure to preserve our interests and security against any aggressor."

Iran Armed Forces will not hesitate to respond to threats: Military chief
[PRESSTV] Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri says any threat or possible act of aggression by enemies will be met with a firm and crushing response.

Baqeri made the remarks in a message issued on Saturday on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the passing away of the founder of the Islamic Theocratic Republic, Imam Khomeini, and pro-Paleostinian International Quds Day, falling on the last Friday of the fasting month of Ramadan.

He said the strong Iranian Armed Forces would not hesitate even a moment to give a "firm and crushing response" to any threat, act of aggression or a greedy move by enemies and ill-wishers of the country.

He emphasized that the Islamic Revolution was a new element in the global equation of power.

The top military commander added that Iran's very powerful influence in the region, acknowledged by friends and foes, was rooted in important and key factors such as the "strategic and far-sighted management" of the Fearless Leader of the Islamic Revolution
...Iran's doddering head theocrat...
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei
...the successor to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and the actual dictator of Iran...
and "prudence and wisdom" of the Iranian nation.

Baqeri said that Iran had managed to overcome major regional challenges such as war and insecurity, spread of Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
terrorism and threats posed by the US, Britannia and the Israeli regime as well as reactionary Arab countries of the region.

In the domestic arena, he added, the Islamic Theocratic Republic had also succeeded in thwarting the "enemy's complicated and deceitful plots."

He emphasized that the Iranian forces in the Army, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), police and Defense Ministry would make use of their utmost capabilities to "safeguard the independence, territorial integrity and national illusory sovereignty" of the Islamic Theocratic Republic.
