Arizona mayor declares state of emergency due to situation with migrants
[JustTheNews] Yuma, Arizona, Mayor Douglas Nicholls declared a city state of emergency last week due to the numbers of migrants entering the city.

Yuma has been seeing "unprecedented numbers of migrants entering the city prior to being processed and released by Border Patrol," according to a press release.

The city has less than 100,000 residents, but in five days last week, more than 6,000 illegal migrants traveled from Mexico through the Yuma area into the United States.

The first weekend of December alone, more than 4,000 migrants were apprehended by Border Patrol agents in the Yuma area.

Migrant encounters have increased by more than 2,600% in the past two months, according to Customs and Border Protection.

Many migrants lack adequate food, water, shelter, and other basic necessities, and the surge has particularly strained medical resources in the area, the press release states.

One of the city's other major concerns is the fact that migrants are treading on Yuma's farm fields. This creates concerns about food safety and crop destruction.

By making the proclamation, Yuma will be eligible for state and federal funding to address the crisis.

“The change in the movement of migrants greatly impacts the Yuma community,” the Republican mayor said.

Record high migrant detentions at US-Mexico border
[BBC] The US says more than 1.7 million migrants were detained along its border with Mexico in the past 12 months - the highest number ever recorded.

More than one million of them were expelled to Mexico or their native countries, according to data from US Customs and Border Protection.

Agents apprehended people from more than 160 countries.

President Joe Biden's popularity in opinion polls has been sinking, partly as a result of his immigration policy.

Just 35% of Americans said they approved of his handling of the issue, in an Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research survey earlier this month.

Mr Biden promised a more humane immigration policy than his predecessor Donald Trump, but the US-Mexico border has been engulfed in crisis for much of the Democrat's nine-month-old presidency.

The detention numbers for the 2021 fiscal year, which ended in September, are the highest since 2000. That year, more than 1.6 million migrants were held at the US-Mexico border. But the number has not reached 1.7 million since US authorities first began tracking such entries in the 1960s.

"The large number of expulsions during the pandemic has contributed to a larger-than-usual number of migrants making multiple border crossing attempts," the US Customs and Border Protection said.

Those trying to enter the US illegally were mainly from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.

Of all those detained, the biggest category were adults travelling without children - more than 1.1 million (or 64%).

At the same time, the US authorities said they encountered more than 145,000 unaccompanied children - a record number.

Almost 11,000 of those children remained in government custody on Friday.

A BBC investigation of the Fort Bliss detention centre in Texas earlier this year found reports of sexual abuse, Covid and lice outbreaks, hungry children being served undercooked meat and sandstorms engulfing the desert tent camps where the young people were being held.

Republicans have blamed Mr Biden's promise to create a pathway to citizenship for immigrants for fuelling the surge.

Mr Biden - who is making one of his regular trips to his home in Delaware this weekend - has been facing questions this week about why he has not visited the border.

The White House press secretary told reporters on Friday that Mr Biden drove by the border in 2008 when he was campaigning to be Barack Obama's vice-president.

Biden to award Medal of Honor to three US soldiers including Army Ranger who died protecting a U.S. helicopter from attack, a Special Forces soldier who fought insurgents in Afghanistan and a Sergeant who died rescuing soldiers from burning vehicle
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • President Joe Biden will award the Medal of Honor to Sgt Alwyn C. Cashe, Sgt Christopher A. Celiz and Sgt Earl D. Plumlee on December 16

  • All three members of the U.S. army are being rewarded for conspicuous gallantry

  • Cashe will become the first Black U.S. service member to receive the Medal of Honor for actions in the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan

  • Cashe is being reward post-humous recognition after suffering mortal injuries in Iraq while rescuing fellow soldiers from a burning vehicle in 2005

  • Plumlee, who remains alive, fought off Taliban suicide bombers in Afghanistan in 2013

  • Celiz died after stepping between Taliban fighters targeting a U.S. helicopter evacuating his fellow soldiers in 2018

  • By law, Medals of Honor must be awarded within five years of the combat action recognized

  • However, Congress passed legislation earlier this year for additional consideration for Cashe, Plumlee and two other soldiers

Banned From School, Afghan Girls Gather in Homes to Learn
Forward to the past!
[ToloNews] Schools in Afghanistan remain off-limits to many girls between grades 7 and 12, but some girls have continued their lessons at home.

The News Agency that Dare Not be Named reported that women teachers were meeting at unknown locations in Kabul and teaching girls inside homes.

"The Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
allowed just boys to go to schools but don’t allow girls to go to school," said Atefa, a student speaking to AP.

"I am a teacher (at) a school. But now, after the coming of Taliban, the schools for girls are closed," said Zakia, a teacher, "because the students must study, we created a small course at home, so the students come here hiddenly."

When the Islamic Emirate swept into power, schools and universities were closed. However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
schools soon reopened for boys of all ages--as well as for both boys and girls up to grade 6--but girls and young women in grades 7-12 in many provinces are still not allowed to attend school.

"There is still hope. We students will continue our path. We will bravely go forward and will not stop. We will continue our education," said Asinat, a student who would be in grade 12.

Schools allowing the attendance of girls in grades 7-12 are opened in eight of 34 provinces.

Mining at Mes Aynak Has Resumed: Officials
[ToloNews] Officials of the Islamic Emirate said that the Pashtun-infested Logar Mes Aynak copper-mining project, a major venture with China, has resumed operations.

"One of the projects that China has been working on for thirteen years is the Mes Aynak project, for which some contracts have been signed. We want to finalize this project with China," said Zabiullah Mujahid, a front man for the Islamic Emirate.

Mujahid also called on potential financial backers to invest in Afghanistan.

The head of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, in a meeting with the country’s business owners, said that Afghanistan has many mines and a lot of natural resources, and if they are used properly they could solve the nation's economic problems.

"If one of our mines is regulated, extracted and processed on a regular basis, our problems will be solved," said Shahabuddin Delawar, minister of mines and petroleum.

In the meantime, officials of steel mills said that there are 42 steel mills in the country which employ over 20,000 workers.

The factory owners have requested that the Islamic Emirate provided them with opportunities to extract metal from the mines in the country.

"We have made great efforts to extract, but unfortunately it didn’t work; now we hope to extract from iron mines for the first time in Afghanistan," said Parwaiz Khwajazada, factory head.

Meanwhile,
...back at the chili cook-off, Chuck reached for the green sauce...
the Chamber of Industries and Mines said that many factories in the country have been closed due to the lack of raw materials and markets, and dozens of factory workers

rulers are committed in principle to education and jobs for girls and women, a marked departure from their previous time in power, and seek the world's "mercy and compassion" to help millions of Afghans in desperate need, a top Taliban leader said in a rare interview.Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi also told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that the Taliban government wants good relations with all countries and has no issue with the United States. He urged Washington and other nations to release upward of $10 billion in funds that were frozen when the Taliban took power Aug. 15, following a rapid military sweep across Afghanistan and the sudden, secret flight of U.S.-backed President Ashraf Ghani

He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. When Biden abandoned the country left with a helicopter, four cars, and part of the national treasury...
"Sanctions against Afghanistan would ... not have any benefit," Muttaqi said Sunday, speaking in his native Pashto during the interview in the sprawling pale brick Foreign Ministry building in the heart of the Afghan capital of Kabul.

Severe drought leaves millions of families exposed in Somalia
Allah really doesn’t like Somalia.
[Garowe] At least 4 million people in Somalia have been badly exposed to hunger following severe drought in Somalia, a country that is also battling myriad challenges, including but not limited to the Alshabaab menace.

Reports indicate that the Galgaduud region of Galmadug state in Central Somalia is one of the most severely affected areas in the country.

Somalia, a war-torn country, becomes increasingly vulnerable to crises as it has experienced more than 30 climate-related hazards since 1990, including 12 droughts and 19 floods, whose outcome has always been severe.
It sounds like they need canals and dams to store flood water against future need — really basic civil engineering, when the community isn’t fighting a continuous war of all against all.
There are also reports that Alshabaab holy warriors may have started to give food to vulnerable families as a way of enticing them. The holy warriors control large swathes of rural Central and southern Somalia.

Konvicted Killer Kops appeal their guilty verdict
Direct Translation via Google Translation. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] Ten former police officers convicted in the case of death after interrogation at the police department of North Ossetia resident Vladimir Tskayev, demanded from the appellate instance to acquit them, Zemfira Tskayeva said today.

As the "Caucasian Knot" wrote in August, Zemfira, the widow of Vladimir Tskayev,  appealed against the  sentences of ten former police officers convicted in the case of her husband's death, demanding that their punishment be tougher. The convicts also filed appeals, insisting on an acquittal. The Supreme Court of North Ossetia, where today began consideration of complaints against the verdict of police officers convicted in the case of the death of Vladimir Tskayev, closed the process to the press.

On July 28, the court sentenced the 10 police officers charged in the Tskayev case to sentences ranging from two to ten and a half years, although the prosecutor asked for them to be imprisoned for six to thirteen years. All the condemned in the last word declared their innocence. The siloviki did not manage to hush up the case of Tskayev's death, and the court ruled on the real terms of imprisonment due to a wide response, the journalists interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" said.

Tskayeva noted the impartiality of the judge.

"He did not stand on ceremony with anyone: neither with the side of the convicts, nor with us," her words are quoted on the website of the publication.

The next session of the Supreme Court of North Ossetia on the Tskayev case is scheduled for December 21, Krylya TV reported on its website today.

The case was submitted to the Supreme Court of the Republic on November 22, it follows from the case card on the court's website.

Let us remind you that the trial in the case of Tskayev's death lasted more than two years. According to Zemfira Tskayeva, the defense of the defendants dragged out the process in every possible way - out of 143 hearings that were to take place, 73 were postponed because of the defendants and their lawyers.

Europe
Anti-Christian hate crimes in Europe rose 70% between 2019 and 2020
[ChristianPost] A new study from a Vienna-based watchdog organization suggests that anti-Christian hate crimes in Europe have increased by 70% between 2019 and 2020 amid rising concern about declining religious freedom across the continent.

A new report this month from the Observatory on Intolerance Against Christians in Europe (OIDAC) focuses on how declining religious freedom, freedom of conscience and parental rights have impacted the liberties of European Christians.

The document identifies "increasing intolerance and discrimination" against Christians from governments through legislation and political discourse. It also identifies intolerance from individuals through "social exclusion and criminal acts."

OIDAC notes that the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe published its annual hate crimes report in November, stating there were 981 anti-Christian hate crimes in Europe for 2020 compared to 578 in 2019.

"This meant an increase of 70% in anti-Christian hate crime since last year," the OIDAC report states.

"Our numbers speak louder than our words. This is one of the reasons OIDAC was founded over ten years ago, because there was no other organization reporting and raising awareness on this phenomenon in Europe."

The study compiled over two years focuses on situations for Christians in five countries — France, Germany, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom — amid rising "secular intolerance" and "Islamic oppression."

"These countries were selected because, according to our observations, Christians face the most difficulties in them," the report explains.

"The findings of the report are based on a variety of data we collected. The majority of our data is based on descriptive cases, an extensive questionnaire and in-depth interviews with experts and afflicted Christians."

While hate crimes have a higher frequency in France and Germany, they tend to be more severe in Spain and France, the organization finds.

Afghans Brought to U.S. Offered Free Housing, Food Stamps, $2,300 Checks
[Breitbart] Afghans brought to the United States by President Joe Biden’s administration are being offered free housing, food stamps, and are “entitled” to nearly $2,300 in payments, a new report details.

Mostly thanks to Democrats and Republicans funding Biden’s massive Afghan resettlement to the sum of more than $13 billion, Afghans in the U.S. are being offered free housing to be resettled in states that do not have large Afghan populations, according to the Washington Post.

In addition, the Post reports that Afghans who have yet to be matched with a refugee contractor are being temporarily offered food stamps while each receives nearly $2,300 in federal aid.

The Post reports:

Evacuees who show up to their offices without first being assigned to their organization by the U.S. State Department are either being turned away or provided with limited aid, such as food stamps and basic medical care. [Emphasis added]

The evacuees are each entitled to receive $2,275 in federal support that is meant to cover housing costs, job training and other expenses over a three-month period once they are matched with a resettlement agency. [Emphasis added]

For example, the evacuees are being offered free housing in Oklahoma, officials said. They are also pointed to other parts of the country with more job opportunities. [Emphasis added]

Afghans are being temporarily housed across various U.S. military bases in Texas, New Jersey, Virginia, Wisconsin, Indiana, and New Mexico. From there, they are resettled across 46 states, at a rate of about 4,000 resettled every day, as non-governmental organizations (NGOs) help to secure them jobs.

More than 70,000 Afghans have been brought to the U.S. by the Biden administration since mid-August and about 34,000 remain on U.S. military bases awaiting resettlement.

The federal government’s funding of the resettlement operation is only one faction.

As Breitbart News has reported, multinational corporations in the airline industry, pharmaceutical industry, big banks, and tech conglomerates are working closely with the Biden administration to funnel Afghans into American jobs.

Facilitating much of the corporate partnership is an NGO backed by former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama and former first ladies Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush, and Michelle Obama. That NGO is working with the Koch brothers network of donor class organizations and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on the resettlement.

Over the last 20 years, nearly a million refugees have been resettled in the nation — more than double the number of residents living in Miami, Florida, and it would be the equivalent of annually adding the population of Pensacola, Florida.

Iraq
'Fraud' case in Iraqi court against election results by PMU adjourned
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A case in an Iraqi court filed by the Popular Mobilization Unit (PMU) militia (Hashed-al-Shaabi), contesting its defeat in the October 10 parliamentary election was adjourned Monday until next week.Judge Jassem Mohammed Aboud, whose court must rule on the complaint before final results are ratified and a new parliament is inaugurated, adjourned the case until December 22 after a procedural hearing.

Shia Moslem holy man Moqtada Tater al-Sadr

Formerly an Iranian catspaw, lately he's gagged over some of their more outlandish antics, then went back to catspawry...
was declared on November 30 as the biggest winner of the election.

Al-Sadr’s movement won nearly a fifth of the seats — 73 out of the assembly’s total 329, well ahead of the 17 seats of the Fatah (Conquest) Alliance, the political arm of the pro-Iranian paramilitary network.

Hashed leaders have rejected the result — sharply down from their 48 seats in the outgoing assembly — as a "fraud."

Mohammed Majid al-Saadi, lawyer for the plaintiffs, told AFP at the court that the aim of the Hashed’s appeal was "to have the results annulled" because of "serious violations."

According to the Fatah Alliance, the electronic voting system had failed to recognize the finger print identification of many voters.

It has also protested at alleged failings of a new electronic machine used for the election and organized demonstrations.

Tensions over fraud allegations and violence culminated on November 7 in an liquidation attempt against Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhemi, from which he emerged unharmed.

No group has claimed the attack.

UN special representative Jeanine Hennis has noted that "so far and as stated by the Iraqi judiciary, there is no evidence of systemic fraud."

After a final court ruling, parliament will hold its inaugural session and elect a president, who will in turn appoint a prime minister to be approved by the legislature.

In multi-confessional and multi-ethnic Iraq, the formation of governments has involved complex negotiations ever since the 2003 US-led invasion toppled former president Saddam Hussein.

Top US official presses police minister on settler violence
[IsraelTimes] US Undersecretary of State Victoria Nuland has apparently sought answers from Israel regarding settler attacks on Paleostinians, during a meeting in Jerusalem with Public Security Minister Omer Bar-Lev.

In a tweet, Bar-Lev says Nuland "took an interest in, among other things, settler violence and how to lower regional tensions and strengthen the Paleostinian Authority."

Bar-Lev, who is in charge of police, says he told her that giving out more work permits to Paleostinians from the West Bank and Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
was "the key to lower tensions, just like implementing a plan for a joint industrial zone on the outskirts of Gaza and more. American help for projects of this kind could help a lot."

As of last month, the Shin Bet had recorded nearly 400 settler attacks on Paleostinians in 2021, up from fewer than 300 last year. Critics say few attacks lead to arrests or prosecutions. According to police, the number of indictments of Jewish hard boyz has doubled from 16 to 32 over the past year.

The State Department usually stays out of such matters unless they involve US citizens, but on October 1, it issued a rare rebuke following an attack, signaling a possible shift.

Israeli jets twice bombed chemical weapon sites in Syria — report
[IsraelTimes] Washington Post says strikes hit facilities near Damascus and Homs in June 2021 and in March 2020, after Jerusalem identified efforts to restart illegal program

Israel carried out a pair of strikes against alleged Syrian chemical weapons
...have not been used since WWI except for in Iraq, by the late, unlamented Saddam Hussein and in Syria, but really, honest, not by the Syrian government. And in Germany in WWII, but that was against civilians. Lots of them, just one of many reasons Hitler's also late and unlamented except among devout Moslems...
sites in March 2020 and June 2021, after receiving intelligence that the regime of Bashir al-Assad was seeking to rebuild the illegal arsenal, according to a Monday report.

Current and former Western intelligence officials familiar with the matter told The Washington Post that in this year’s strike, Israeli jets fired at three targets near the cities of Damascus and Homs, killing seven Syrian soldiers and an engineer who allegedly worked at a military lab.

The report said the 2020 strike targeted a villa outside Homs, which was previously the hub of Syria’s chemical weapons program. The Villa was being used to make tricalcium phosphate, or TCP, Western intelligence officials told The Post. TCP has many nonmilitary uses, but it can also be converted into phosphorous trichloride, a precursor for sarin and other nerve agents.

Keeping with its policy of ambiguity on such affairs, the Israel Defense Forces declined to comment on either strike.

The report said the attacks grabbed the attention of Western intelligence officials, as the targets were not Iran

It said Israel received intelligence in the months ahead of the 2020 raid that Syrian President Assad was seeking to rebuild h'>null
is chemical weapons program, which he had agreed to dismantle in 2014, following pressure from the B.O. regime.

Analysts have described the program as a deterrent against Israel, but it was repurposed repeatedly for use against Syrian rebels, including in one particularly deadly attack in August 2013, where roughly 1,400 non-combatants were killed in the Damascus suburbs. The UN found that chemical weapons were used in the attack, though Syria denied this.

The attack sparked international outcry and threats of a military strike from then-US president Barak Obama. Assad subsequently agreed to disassemble the chemical weapons program and ship its equipment out of the country.

However,

Assad continued employing the deadly weapons in more than 200 attacks against rebels, even after threats by the B.O. regime and air strikes ordered by former president Donald Trump

, The Post reported.

It is not clear whether Israel’s strikes were successful in disrupting Assad’s efforts. The strikes were preemptive in nature, eliminating Syria’s chemical production capabilities before the weapons are made, Western intelligence officials told The Post. A strike on operational chemical weapons would risk unleashing them into the surrounding areas.

The Post said that in both attacks, the US was made aware of the strikes and the intelligence that Israel said justified them after the fact.

Former Shin Bet head says Russia, US weren’t dealing with Syria

[IsraelTimes] Israel is officially refusing to admit to hitting Syrian chemical sites, as reported by The Washington Post just now, but former Shin Bet head and current Likud MK Avi Dichter appears to confirm Israeli worries about Syrian chemical weapons
...have not been used since WWI except for in Iraq, by the late, unlamented Saddam Hussein and in Syria, but really, honest, not by the Syrian government. And in Germany in WWII, but that was against civilians. Lots of them, just one of many reasons Hitler's also late and unlamented except among devout Moslems...
"If the [Bashar] Assad regime did not hesitate to use chemical weapons against civilians, of course any Syrian outfitting of nerve weapons would be a real cause for worry in Israel. If the regime uses them against Syrians, imagine for yourselves what else it could do," he says.

He also seems to makes the case for why Israel would not trust international guarantees about its enemies, following a US-Russian-Syrian deal eight years ago to rid Syria of chemical arms.

"It’s hard to see the Russians taking aggressive action against Assad. He’s guilty not only of making chemical weapons but of using them against civilians, and despite that he’s remained as a figure that they hold onto and have even revived. One also has to admit that the Americans weren’t really in Syria," charges Dichter, who previously headed the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.

If the implications were not obvious, he intimates that Israel will take what action it needs to against Iran
...Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979...
with or without the backing of the US, which is engaged in indirect talks with Tehran on reviving the 2015 nuclear deal.

"If the day comes that we have no choice, we’ll need to do something with what we have and not just with what we want," he says.

US rejects Israeli request for tanker aircraft as Iran plans advance
[JPost] Kalorama Kompound Kontinues its Jooo Hatred
The US has reportedly rejected an Israeli request to fast-track the delivery of two tanker aircraft.

The US has rejected an Israeli request to fast-track the delivery of two tanker aircraft which had been ordered by Israel, as plans for a possible military option against Iran's nuclear plan move forward, Ynet reported on Monday.

In October, sources in the Defense Ministry stated that senior Israel Air Force (IAF) officers had requested that the supply of four KC-46 tanker aircraft from the US be sped up, asking that two of the aircraft be delivered immediately. The officers asked that the other two be supplied within the next two to three years.

According to the Ynet report, the IDF hopes to convince the US over the next year.

The US State Department approved the possible sale of up to eight KC-46 tanker aircraft and related equipment to Israel for an estimated cost of $2.4 billion last March, marking the first time that Washington has allowed Jerusalem to buy new tankers.

Israel was set to receive two of the Boeing-made planes by late 2023, and during former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s last visit to Washington, he raised the issue that two of the eight tankers be supplied in the next year.

The KC-46 tankers will replace Israel’s Ram (Boeing 707) tanker aircraft that are required for long-range missions and nearing the age of 60.

Israel’s fleet of Ram planes, the number of which remains confidential, are former civilian aircraft adapted for military uses such as aerial refueling for fighter jets, as well as its fleet of transport aircraft. They were grounded last year.

The new KC-46 tankers can refuel jets with 1,200 gallons of fuel per minute by its fly-by-wire 55-ft. refueling boom. It also can have wing air refueling pods allowing three jets to be refueled at once within three to four minutes.

With a range of 11,830 km., with the capacity to unload some 207,000 lbs. of fuel, the KC-46 can refuel over 64 different types of aircraft.

Such refueling aircraft would be critical for a strike on Iran, as a mission against Iran would need to travel over a thousand kilometers in each direction.

During a recent visit to the US, Defense Minister Benny Gantz updated American officials that he had set a deadline for when the IDF will need to complete preparations for an attack against Iran. There was no US veto to Israel's plans, according to a senior diplomatic source.

The US and Israel are reportedly planning large joint exercises to prepare for a possible strike against Iran's nuclear program.
