Taliban Orders Kandahar City Transportation to Not Transport Women Without a Male Chaperone
[KhaamaPress] The Kandahar Provincial Directorate for Propagation of Virtue and Prohibition of Vice has issued a directive prohibiting single women (without male Mahrams) from being transported by the province’s urban transportation.

The Kandahar provincial Director for the Ministry of Propagation of Virtue and Prohibition of Vice, Mawlawi Abdul Rahman, stated in a video released yesterday, Sunday 29th May, that women travelling alone promotes moral corruption.

He ordered Taliban
...Arabic for students...
fighters to stop taxis and other vehicles that disobeyed the order, adding that they would be punished and held accountable.

The Ministry of Propagation of Virtue and Prohibition of Vice’s restrictive policies have prompted outrage and has taken a different approach, lately separating men’s and women’s dining halls in Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
All of this Ministry’s measures are restrictive on girls’ and women. If women do not wear the hijab, their male parents will be punished, according to one of the ministry’s measures. The Taliban have also ordered the female TV anchors to wear a face mask while performing on air, in addition to observing the mandatory hijab, which considers "no exception".

The Taliban Foreign Ministry Denies the Presence of Al-Qaeda and the TTP in Afghanistan
[KhaamaPress] The Taliban
...Arabic for students...
Foreign Ministry has responded to a recent UN Security Council report by vehemently denying the presence of thousands of al-Qaeda and Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain, aka Pak Taliban, fighters in Afghanistan.

According to the UN Security Council monitoring group, al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri
...Formerly second in command of al-Qaeda, now the head cheese, occasionally described as the real brains of the outfit. Formerly the Mister Big of Egyptian Islamic Jihad. Bumped off Abdullah Azzam with a car boom in the course of one of their little disputes. Is thought to have composed bin Laden's fatwa entitled World Islamic Front Against Jews and Crusaders. Currently residing in the North Wazoo area assuming he's not dead like Mullah Omar. He lost major face when he ordered the nascent Islamic State to cease and desist and merge with the orthodox al-Qaeda spring, al-Nusra...
has renewed his allegiance and loyalty to the Taliban leader in Kandahar.

Several thousand Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) fighters are also present and active in Afghanistan, according to the report.

In response to the UN Security Council report released on Monday, 30th May, the Taliban’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement, responding that "under Taliban rule, Afghanistan has been prevented from threatening countries in the region and around the world."

The Taliban would not allow anyone or any group to use Afghan soil against other countries, according to the Ministry, and would uphold its anti-terrorism commitments.

The Taliban called for legitimacy in the declaration so that it could report the security situation from Afghanistan to the United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
through a legitimate representative.

However,
a woman is only as old as she admits...
during the past nine months, the Taliban have not been able to secure Afghanistan’s UN representative, which is still held by the previous administration representative.

Only four countries have accepted Taliban diplomats to undertake diplomatic missions during that nine-month period.

Human rights violations, deprivation of women’s individual and social freedoms, restrictions on the media, and the use of violence and against the people are the key reasons why the Taliban are stuck in such political and economic isolation.

The Taliban Makes Mullah Hibatullah’s Name Mandatory to Be Mentioned in Friday Prayer Sermon
“May God bless and keep the Tsar... far away from us!”

—Fiddler On The Roof
[KhaamaPress] In a new directive, the Director of the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
Hajj, Islamic Affairs and Endowments has ordered the preachers at the Ghazni congregational mosques that mentioning the name of Taliban leader Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzadah in the Friday prayer sermon is mandatory.

If the holy mans defy the order, officials from the Taliban Information and Culture Directorate for Ghazni province have warned that they will face serious consequences.

During a meeting at the Hajj, Islamic Affairs and Endowment Office on Monday, May 30, Mawlawi Abdul Manan Madani, the Director of the Hajj, Islamic Affairs and Endowment Office in Ghazni province, told the congregational mosque preachers and mullahs that the Taliban had already provided the text if they delivered a sermon.

The Taliban have issued mandatory orders with threatening warnings against various segments of the population, especially women, during their nine months in power.

The Taliban’s mandate to enforce the hijab, the forced covering of female performers, the denial of girls’ access to education, the torture of journalists, and the intimidation of former soldiers are among the things that have hampered the Taliban’s international legitimacy because they are flagrant breaches of human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
in the eyes of the UN and international community, as well as Human Rights Watch.

US suspends Abraham Accords assistance to Sudan, urges Israel to call for democracy
[IsraelTimes] The Biden administration, the guys that caused the debacle in Afghanistan
...the collection of boodlers, grifters, hangers-on, and self-proclaimed experts affiliated with the Biden Crime Family. Entrusted with an entire nation as the result of a suspicious election, they set about happily implementing stuff they absorbed in college, all of which blew up and splattered the rest of us...
has suspended assistance to Sudan, including assistance related to its normalization deal with Israel, and wants Israel to call out the bloody coup that removed the country’s civilian government last year.

"The United States is not moving forward at this time with assistance originally committed to Sudan’s civilian-led transitional government in connection with its efforts to improve Sudan’s bilateral relationship with Israel," a State Department front man said in an email Friday in response to a query. "This includes wheat shipments and certain development and trade and investment assistance."

Jewish Insider first reported the development.

The front man noted that the US also suspended foreign assistance unrelated to the Abraham Accords, the normalization agreements between Israel and four Arab states, because of the coup. He said the Biden administration expected Israel to join in the call for a return to a democratically elected government.

"Any moves made in this regard by Sudan’s military leaders would not enjoy credibility with the Sudanese people," he said. "We strongly encourage the State of Israel to join us and the broader international community in vocally pressing for Sudan’s military leaders to cede power to a credible civilian-led transitional government."

Sudan’s military seized power last fall, arresting the country’s prime minister. Protesters turned out in force and dozens were killed by security forces in demonstrations.

Israel has not commented on the situation, and a minister in the former civilian government told Haaretz last month that this could be seen as backing for the coup.

The Trump administration in its final months brokered normalization agreements between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Morocco and Bahrain, as well as Sudan. The full agreement with Sudan has yet to come to full fruition because of instability in the country.

The Biden administration, in one of its few areas of agreement with its predecessor, has committed to advancing the Abraham Accords.

"As for the Abraham Accords, as we’ve said, they are a positive development that have had clear benefits for Israel and the region," said the front man, who spoke on condition that he not be named, as is State Department custom. "The United States will continue to look for opportunities to engage with Israel and other countries to normalize relations and expand cooperation."
Mouthing all the right platitudes, but the hands are working in the opposite direction.

India-Pakistan
Islamabad, TTP agree on indefinite ceasefire
[Dawn] The government of Pakistain and the outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
Pakistain (TTP) have agreed to extend the ceasefire, this time, indefinitely and continue negotiations to find an end to the nearly two decades of militancy in the tribal border region, it has been reliably learnt.

The extension in ceasefire, which was to come to an end last night, indicates significant progress in talks between the two sides in the Afghan capital Kabul, sources familiar with the development said.

Sources told Dawn that the two sides had agreed to extend the ceasefire and continue peace talks following separate meetings with Mullah Muhammad Hassan Akhund, Acting Prime Minister of the ’Islamic Emerate of Afghanistan (IEA)’ at his office the other day.

These sources said that in his meetings with the two sides, the soft-spoken septuagenarian leader expressed his desire that the talks and ceasefire should be allowed to continue without any cut-off date.

In a subsequent joint meeting, the two sides agreed to extend the ceasefire indefinitely and pursue negotiations to end the conflict that has seen mass dislocation and killings of thousands of people in Pakistain’s tribal region and the country on the lam.

IEA front man Zabihullah Mujahid and TTP front man Muhammad Khurasani had issued statements early this month, announcing extension in the ceasefire till May 30.

No official statement has been issued so far regarding the indefinite extension in ceasefire but Dawn has been able to get confirmation of this significant development.

The development follows days of "intense and extensive negotiations" in the Afghan capital attended by senior level delegations from the two sides that at one point seemed close to breakdown.

IEA’s Acting Minister for Interior Sirajuddin Haqqani
...son of Pashtun warlord Jalaluddin Haqqani, still titular head of the Haqqani Network....
, who is the central mediator, helped bring the talks back on track, sources said.

The GoP, sources said, had demonstrated its seriousness by acceding to some of the TTP’s demands and after the IEA suggested it would be important for confidence-building to move from preliminaries to formal and structured negotiations.

The release of prisoners and presidential pardon to two key hard boy commanders, including TTP Swat
...a valley and an administrative district in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistain, located 99 mi from Islamabad. It is inhabited mostly by Pashto speakers. The place has gone steadily downhill since the days when Babe Ruth was the Sultan of Swat...
front man Moslem Khan, was one such demand.

Compensation for the dead and maimed, enforcement of Shariah regulation in Malakand, withdrawal of military from the borders and reversal of Fata merger into Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa were key demands from the TTP side, these sources said.

The Shariah Nizam-e-Adl
...a Pak regulation imposing a system of Sharia. It was implemented in Swar in 2009 with the expected disastrous results...
Regulation, 2009 is still operational in Malakand division. The law was enacted following marathon negotiations with the late Maulana Sufi Muhammad.

The GoP, these sources said, had no issue with some of the TTP’s demand, but two major issues remained challenging: the reversal of Fata merger and the disbandment of the TTP as an armed hard boy group.

The GoP delegates made it clear that the merger brought about through a constitutional amendment was not up for discussion and that tribal people were the main, important stakeholders.

The TTP on its part had brought documents containing the commitment made by Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah with the tribal people guaranteeing their autonomy in an independent Pakistain.

They were told that the reversal of the merger would mean return to the Frontier Crimes Regulation which was a relic of the British Empire and did not contain anything that could be considered ’Islamic.’ They were asked to identify laws that had been enacted post-merger which they deemed to be in contravention of their customs or the ’riwaj.’

Besides, the 25th Constitutional Amendment that brought about Fata’s merger into KP is pending before a larger bench of the Supreme Court
...the political football known as The Highest Court in the Land, home of penumbrae and emanations...
of Pakistain since March, 2022 on a petition filed by some tribal elders opposed to it.

The disbandment of the TTP is another make-or-break issue, these sources said. The government delegation has made it plain that no gang would be allowed to enter Pakistain territory or operate as such. Options are being discussed and the IEA is fully on-board in this regard.

The next round of negotiations is expected to take place in the second week of June, sources said, with a tribal jirga holding direct talks with the TTP in Kabul.

Steps taken to unite Peshmerga forces: Advisor
[Rudaw] A senior Dutch military advisor to the Ministry of Peshmerga affairs on Monday told Rudaw that efforts to unite the Peshmerga forces are ongoing, with party controlled brigades taking steps to join the ministry.

"Both sides are really willing to cooperate with the international advisory group, especially we see a lot of interaction from the Seventy side, and Seventy are very very clear on trying to move as many brigades as possible into the MOPA (Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs)," Captain Bart van den Heuvel, a senior Dutch military advisor to the Ministry of Peshmerga, told Rudaw's Bestoon Othman.

"We definitely see good signs from the Eighty side as well," he said, adding that there is good movement in the process.

Although the Peshmerga forces are under the authority of the Peshmerga ministry, the force’s two largest units are divided among the PUK and the KDP.

Unit 70 forces are affiliated with the PUK and Unit 80 forces are controlled by the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), making up the majority of the Peshmerga forces, numbering over 100,000 troops.

The global coalition serves as an advisory role to the ministry, offering training and equipment to the brigades, as well as overlooking the reform process of ministry.

Over the past few years, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has put the unification of the Peshmerga forces on its agenda, and while reasonable steps have been taken towards unification and a number of brigades controlled by the PUK and the KDP have been added to the ministry, many remain to do so.

Lapid vows to deepen partnerships with African countries: ‘Israel is back in Africa’
[IsraelTimes] Emphasizing that "Israel is back in Africa," Foreign Minister Yair Lapid lays out several broad goals for the future of Israel’s partnership with African countries.

"We will cooperate to deliver food security for millions," says Lapid, speaking by videolink to a conference organized by Israel’s embassy in Gay Paree.

"We will coordinate in the fight against terrorism to ensure peace and stability. We will collaborate in high-tech to create opportunities for millions of Israelis and Africans alike. We will cultivate deeper diplomatic ties to cement our historic and deeply-rooted partnership."

The Gay Paree conference on Israel-Africa ties has attracted several French and African media outlets, and is attended by a number of African diplomats.

Israel enjoyed a golden age in its ties with African countries in the 1950s and 1960s, as it offered agricultural aid to sub-Saharan nations that were also taking their first steps after throwing off colonial rule. Relationships crumbled after the 1967 and 1973 wars, as most African countries cut off diplomatic relations.

Today, Israel has diplomatic ties with all but 9 of the 54 African countries, and new wind has been blown into the sails of Israel’s diplomacy on the continent by the efforts of the Benjamin Netanyahu governments and by the signing of the Abraham Accords.

Israel, one of only two non-African nations to share a border with Africa, became an observer to the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
in 2021.

Now, Israel says, it is seeking a partnership between equals, not an aid relationship.

"Israel understands the power of Africa," says Lapid. "And Africa understands that Israel is a force for good."

"In the face of global challenges, countries that cooperative will thrive, while countries that isolate will fall behind," he declares.

Iranian outlet names five Israeli intel and tech experts as potential targets
[IsraelTimes] Tehran has vowed Dire Revenge for killing of senior Revolutionary Guards officer, prompting Israel to ramp up its air defenses and issue travel warning for The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...

Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency issued details on five Israelis it warned could be targeted by Tehran, as the Islamic Theocratic Republic continued to seethe on Monday over the killing of a top Revolutionary Guards official, which it blames on Israel.

Under the headline "Zionists who must live in secret," Fars claimed that the five, their families and colleagues are "under close surveillance day and night" and that many others were potential targets as well.

The news site, citing "internal government sources," said the five were "involved in sabotage against Islamic countries and the liquidation of activists of the Islamic Resistance®."

The named individuals are Amos Malka, a former head of the Israel Defense Forces Military Intelligence Directorate; Amir Levental, a cybersecurity expert; Gal Ganot, a former senior officer in the IDF’s 8200 intelligence unit; Inbal Arieli, a tech executive who is also a former 8200 officer; and Amit Meltzer, another cybersecurity expert.

The agency published photos of the five under the word "Wanted."

Iranian officials have vowed to avenge the assassination of a senior Revolutionary Guard Corps member in Tehran last week, a shooting that Israeli officials reportedly told Washington was carried out by Israeli intelligence.

"The deaders who are murdered by the Zionists are of a much higher status. God willing we will take Dire Revenge against the enemies," Maj. Gen Hossein Salami said during a visit with Khodaei’s family on Monday. Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites....
had indicated it believed Israel or the US were responsible for the killing, but had not previously directly blamed Israel.

Senior Israeli politician Ram Ben Barak denied last week that Israel had taken responsibility for the killing, although he did not comment on whether or not Israeli intelligence had killed Khodaei.

"As far as I know, we did not inform anyone or take responsibility, and that is for the best," Ben Barak, a former deputy head of Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency, told Radio 103FM.

Col. Hassan Sayyad Khodaei was shot five times in his car last week by two unidentified button men on cycle of violences in the middle of Tehran. Israeli media, apparently briefed off the record by Israeli officials, reported that Khodaei was involved in killings and abductions outside of Iran, including attempts to target Israelis.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran says IAEA report on undeclared nuclear sites 'not fair'
[Rudaw] Iran
...The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both...
said Tuesday a report by the UN nuclear watchdog on undeclared nuclear material found at three sites was "not fair".

"Unfortunately, this report does not reflect the reality of the negotiations between Iran and the IAEA," foreign ministry front man Saeed Khatibzadeh told news hounds, referring to the Monday report by the ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency.

"It's not a fair and balanced report," he said, adding: "We expect this path to be corrected."

The latest report came as talks to revive a landmark 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and major powers remain deadlocked after stalling in March.

In it, the IAEA said it still had questions which were "not clarified" regarding undeclared nuclear material previously found at three sites -- Marivan, Varamin and Turquzabad.

It said its long-running efforts to get Iranian officials to explain the presence of nuclear material had failed to provide the answers it south.

Iran saw an Israeli hand in the IAEA's findings. "It is feared that the pressure exerted by the Zionist regime and some other actors has caused the normal path of agency reports to change from technical to political," Khatibzadeh said.

Earlier, Iran's representative to the IAEA, Mohammad Reza Ghaebi, said the report "does not reflect Iran's extensive cooperation with the agency".

"Iran considers this approach unconstructive and destructive to the current close relations and cooperation between the country and the IAEA," he said, adding: "The agency should be aware of the destructive consequences of publishing such one-sided reports."

In a separate report published on Monday, the IAEA estimated that Iran's stockpile of enriched uranium had grown to more than 18 times the limit agreed in a troubled 2015 deal between Tehran and major powers.

It "estimated that, as of May 15, 2022, Iran's total enriched stockpile was 3,809.3 kilograms."

The limit in the 2015 deal was set at 300 kg (660 pounds) of a specific compound, the equivalent of 202.8 kg of uranium.

The twin reports came as talks to revive the 2015 nuclear deal formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action remain deadlocked after stalling in March.

The agreement gave Iran relief from crippling economic sanctions in exchange for curbs on its nuclear activities designed to prevent it from developing an atomic bomb -- an ambition it has always denied.

But the pact was left on life support when then US president Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
pulled out unilaterally in 2018 and reimposed biting sanctions on Tehran, prompting Iran to begin rolling back on its own commitments.

One of the main sticking points is Tehran's demand -- rejected by Washington -- that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the ideological arm of Iran's military, be removed from a US terrorism blacklist.

EU Sanctions Syria-Based Hurras Al-Din, Two Leaders

In its fight against terrorism, the European Council imposed on Monday sanctions against al-Qaeda affiliated group Guardians of Religion Organization (Hurras al-Din) and two of its leaders.

The targeted Hurras al-Din is a group linked to al-Qaeda that operates in Syria. The council also targeted its leader Faruq al-Suri, and its religious leader Sami al-Aridi.

Hurras al-Din is an Islamist radical group established in Idlib, northwest Syria, in early 2018 as part of al-Qaeda’s global network.

Following this step, 10 persons will be subjected to asset freezes and travel bans, and three group to an asset freeze.

In addition, “EU persons and entities will be forbidden from making funds or economic resources available to listed persons and groups,” the council said.

The EU accuses the militant group of being involved in the planning of terrorist operations under the umbrella of al-Qaida and has established training camps in Syria. The group also includes several Europeans among its fighting ranks, it said.

“Today’s decision confirms the EU’s unwavering resolve to combat the enduring terrorist threat posed by Al-Qaeda, ISIL/Da’esh [ISIS], and all their regional affiliates,” the council said.

The council stressed its commitment to fighting terrorism, and taking all the possible measures against those who “continue to threaten international peace and security.”

In September 2019, the US government designated Hurras al-Din and Faruq al-Suri as a Specially Designated Terrorists and offered a reward reaching $5 million for information on al-Suni.

Since September 2016, the EU was able to apply sanctions autonomously to the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) and al-Qaeda. Before then, sanctions could only be applied to persons and entities listed by the UN or by the EU countries acting individually.

Asayish Remove Mine Left By ISIS In Raqqa

The internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) demined Monday a landmine, engraved with “the State’s Caliphate” in a reference to the Islamic State Organization (ISIS), in a town located northwest of Raqqa, a city in northern Syria.

On their official website, the Asayish said that combat engineers units had demined a 5 kg landmine left by ISIS.

Between January 2014 and October 2017, ISIS controlled the city of Raqqa and its countryside naming Raqqa the capital of the Caliphate.

After fierce battles between ISIS and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Raqqa was liberated in October 2017, but following their defeat, ISIS has left behind too many Explosive Remnants of War (ERW).

Since the beginning of 2021, combat engineers have defused 79 land mines, 87 shells, 365 grenades, 12 explosive belts, and 25 missiles, all were remnants left by ISIS, according to a previous statement by the Asayish to North Press.
