Meanwhile, 21-year-old Ulises Bohorquez and 18-year-old Yarwuin Madris are already being held on Rikers Island for the attack. Bohorquez has a cash bail of $100,000, while Madris has been ordered held without bail.
Jhoan Boada, a 22-year-old illegal alien from Venezuela, has been charged and let out without bail but has yet to be arraigned.

According to ICE officials, who spoke to the Washington Times‘s Stephen Dinan, Juarez and Arocha are both members of Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua and crossed the southern border at some point in the last couple of years.
ICE agents had taken both into custody, noting that Arocha was wanted by the agency, while Juarez had already been ordered deported by a federal immigration judge a year ago but was never deported.
Juarez’s low bail of just $1 is likely to get him off Rikers Island, but ICE agents have said he will re-enter their custody if he is released from jail. Juarez’s bail is vastly lower than other suspects because he is charged with a single count of tampering with evidence, not with the attack.
The gang members’ involvement in the attack comes as federal authorities are increasingly worried that the nation’s porous southern border is allowing hundreds, potentially thousands, of Tren de Aragua members into American communities to set up shop.
In New York City, federal authorities worry that Tren de Aragua may form an alliance with the violent MS-13 gang from El Salvador which has many members across the city and Long Island.

Any traditional National Guard facility has a major portion of its operating expenses funded by the federal government, even if the land itself isn't direct federal property. If you want to sustain the border interdiction ops in Texas using the exclusively state military forces in a state active duty status, you need a operating site totally immune to federal controls.

If the US govt wants to 'federalize' the NatGuard, the state governor can require the feds to declare "a designated national emergency", which the Biden people do not want to do. There's been recent court cases about covid vaccine requirements from the DoD, and the DoD did not do well in in court.

Microsoft said the "attacks" detected all involved large-language models the partners own and said it was important to expose them publicly even if they were "early-stage, incremental moves."
Cybersecurity firms have long used machine learning on defense, principally to detect anomalous behavior in networks. But criminals and offensive hackers use it as well, and the introduction of large-language models led by OpenAI’s ChatGPT upped that game of cat-and-mouse.
Microsoft has invested billions of dollars in OpenAI, and Wednesday’s announcement coincided with its release of a report noting that generative AI is expected to enhance malicious social engineering, leading to more sophisticated deepfakes and voice cloning. This could be a threat to democracy in a year when over 50 countries will conduct elections, magnifying disinformation.
Here are some examples Microsoft provided. In each case, it said all generative AI accounts and assets of the named groups were disabled:
• The North Korean cyberespionage group known as Kimsuky has used the models to research foreign think tanks that study the country, and to generate content likely to be used in spear-phishing hacking campaigns.
• Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has used large-language models to assist in social engineering, troubleshooting software errors, and even studying how intruders might evade detection in a compromised network. That includes generating phishing emails "including one pretending to come from an international development agency and another attempting to lure prominent feminists to an attacker-built website on feminism." The AI helps accelerate and boost email production.
• The Russian GRU military intelligence unit known as Fancy Bear has used the models to research satellite and radar technologies that may relate to the war in Ukraine.
• The Chinese cyberespionage group known as Aquatic Panda — which targets a broad range of industries, higher education, and governments from La Belle France to Malaysia — has interacted with the models "in ways that suggest a limited exploration of how LLMs can augment their technical operations."
• The Chinese group Maverick Panda, which has targeted US defense contractors among other sectors for more than a decade, had interactions with large-language models suggesting it was evaluating their effectiveness as a source of information "on potentially sensitive topics, high profile individuals, regional geopolitics, US influence, and internal affairs."

PTI leader Barrister Saif, while speaking to journalists after a meeting with Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) in Islamabad, said that PTI has decided to sit on the opposition benches in the National Assembly and Punjab Assembly.
"Many politicians face the allegations that they have power lust but we have decided to sit in the opposition in the Centre and Punjab, despite the fact that if we had got the seats according to the votes we received, we would have been forming the government in the Centre," he said.
Saif added that the Form-45s were the evidence that the PTI-backed candidates had won but the results were changed in the Form-47s.
He said that party was making contacts with political parties on Khan's orders, and that is why a delegation led by Asad Qaiser visited the QWP secretariat.
Saif said that the 2024 polls, which he said were "rigged", created political unrest in the country and resulted in wide scale complaints from the political parties and those "who had the right" and who had received got the votes of people.
"Peoples votes were tempered with," he asserted.
Saif said that some people would be cheering that they have got to form the government, but this celebration would be short-lived.
"If we see this in the long term, this is a huge problem for the nation, the country and the parliamentary democracy in Pakistain because the coming generations have to bear the brunt of such incidents," the lawyer-turned politician said while referring to the alleged rigging in polls.
He said that PTI wants "harmony and an environment of reconciliation" in the country.
Sharing the details about the meeting with QWP, Saif said that the PTI requested the party leaders to join it on the agenda to protest the alleged polls rigging.
At this, QWP leader Sikandar Sherpao told PTI that they will announce their course of action after sharing PTI’s proposal with the party's committee.

Bushra, the wife of former prime minister Imran Khan, was placed under house arrest at her husband’s Islamabad mansion after she and her husband were convicted of graft allegations.
Khan and his wife were sentenced to 14 years in jail in a case that relates to accusations the ex-premier undervalued gifts from a state repository and gained profits from selling them while he held the country’s top office.
Wattoo told Geo News that she is very concerned about the safety of her sister as "Bushra has been treated badly by the jail authorities".
She said the jail superintendent Adiala is responsible for the safety of Bushra but "evidence" shows that the jail authorities are failing in their duty.
Wattoo, Bushra’s younger sister, who is an educationist by profession and based in Dubai, said her sister’s daughter met her after more than 10 days and informed that Bushra was given "some weird, very strong-tasting food six days ago which has burnt her throat and stomach completely such that since last six days she has not been able to eat anything, has gone very weak and is not well".
She claimed that the policewoman who gave her the food that day had been transferred since.
Wattoo said that no doctor was called in on time to examine her and the delay means that the impact would be diluted of what was given in good to her sister.
In a post on X, Wattoo also highlighted concerns for her sister.
She said: "No doctor has been called in for consultation. Mrs. Bushra Imran Khan was very healthy when she submitted herself for arrest. She has no diseases like diabetes, hypertension, or anything else."

The precise question put to the court is to give an opinion on the legal consequences of Israel’s "occupation, settlement and annexation... including measures aimed at altering the demographic composition, character and status of the Holy City of Jerusalem, and from its adoption of related discriminatory legislation and measures."
The general assembly also asked the 15-judge panel of the ICJ to advise on how those policies and practices "affect the legal status of the occupation" and what legal consequences arise for all countries and the United Nations ...where theory meets practice and practice loses... from this status.
The court will hear over 50 states and three international organizations over six days of hearings including the United States, Russia, China and South Africa. Speaking on the sidelines of a UN meeting in Geneva, Richard Kozul-Wright, a director at trade body UNCTAD, said the damage was already four times that sustained in Gaza during the seven-week war in 2014.

Satterfield is asked if there was any truth to a report that Israeli troops killed "Hamas operatives" protecting a UN aid convoy in Rafah earlier this month.
"The IDF (Israeli Defense Force) 10 days, two weeks ago, did indeed strike at seven, eight, or nine police officials, including a commander whose units had been involved in providing escorts," he replies.
Hamas operatives, in short.
Such escorts were needed because of attacks on aid convoys first by "desperate" Paleostinians and "then by criminal elements," Satterfield says.
The police "certainly include Hamas elements. They also include individuals who don’t have a direct affiliation with Hamas who are there as part of the Paleostinian Authority’s remnant presence and security," he says, referring to the Western-backed body that exercises limited governance in the occupied West Bank.
On Feb. 10, Hamas and Gaza medics said that two Israeli Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... s had killed five members of Rafah’s Hamas-run police force, including a senior officer. The same day, Israel’s military said it had struck and killed three Hamas button men in Rafah, including two senior operatives in the area.
It is not clear if Satterfield was referring to the Feb. 10 incident. Hamas has not said if it has stopped police escorts of aid convoys.
If they have not said so, they haven’t stopped.
Satterfield says the US is working with the Israeli government and military to determine "what solutions can be found because everyone wants the assistance to continue."

The US and several Arab partners are preparing a detailed plan for a comprehensive peace deal between Israel and the Paleostinians that includes a "firm timeline" for a Paleostinian state, according to a report Thursday, sparking immediate denunciations from senior members of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet and a front man for the government. According to the Washington Post report, citing US and Arab officials, an announcement on the blueprint could come in the next few weeks, though the timing is largely dependent on Israel and Hamas ...a regional Iranian catspaw,... being able to reach a deal pausing the fighting in Gaza. The proposed plan includes steps that Israel has previously refused, including the evacuation of many West Bank settlements, a Paleostinian capital in East Jerusalem and a combined security apparatus and government for the West Bank and Gaza.

Officials told the Post they hoped to make the plan public once Israel and Hamas agree to a temporary truce aimed at allowing humanitarian aid into Gaza and freeing the 134 hostages still held by terror groups in the Strip.
According to the report, during the pause, steps would be taken toward implementation of the proposal, including forming an interim Paleostinian government that could also rule over Gaza.
In response to the report, a front man for the Israeli government said that now is not the time to be discussing plans for the "day after" Hamas.
"Here in Israel, we are still in the aftermath of the October 7 massacre," said Prime Minister’s Office front man Avi Hyman in a briefing. "Now is not the time to be speaking about gifts to the Paleostinian people, at a time when the Paleostinian Authority themselves have yet to even condemn the October 7 massacre."
"Now is the time for victory, total victory over Hamas," Hyman added. "All discussions of the day after Hamas will be had the day after Hamas."
A veteran Democratic member of US Congress later hit back at Hyman.
"A two-state solution is not a ’gift.’ It is the only viable solution to the Israeli-Paleostinian conflict," Representative Jerry Fester Bestertester Nadler ...the Dem New York representative-for-life who stepped whole from a Don Martin drawing in the pages of Mad® magazine, head of the House Judiciary Committee... of New York wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
"Israel must be able to defend itself, particularly after the horrors of October 7, but long-run security will only come through an appropriately negotiated solution that involves rebuilding Gaza and establishing a Paleostinian state in Gaza and the West Bank with adequate security and governance plans," he added.
Last week, Saudi Arabia hosted a regional meeting six top Arab ministers aimed at advancing a joint political vision for rehabilitating the Gaza Strip and establishing a Paleostinian state after the Israel-Hamas war. Participants at the meeting agreed to move forward with the effort and several drafts of the plan have already begun circulating between the countries, though it is unclear when it will be unveiled, two senior diplomats told The Times of Israel.
The US has publicly refused to back calls for a permanent ceasefire to end the fighting in Gaza, citing Israel’s need to defend itself by destroying Hamas, but officials in recent weeks have increasingly spoken of the truce leading to an end to hostilities.
"We’re looking for a temporary pause as part of the hostage deal, and then to build on that into something more enduring," US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said Wednesday.
News of the plan was met with vehement opposition by hardline ministers in Israel’s government opposed to the creation of a Paleostinian state, with Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich saying he would demand the high-level security cabinet adopt a statement rejecting the establishment of a Paleostinian state when it meets later Thursday.
"We will never agree, under any circumstances, to this plan that basically says the Paleostinians deserve a prize for the terrible massacre they carried out against us: a Paleostinian state with a capital in Jerusalem," Smotrich posted on X.
Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli, a member of Netanyahu’s Likud party, said the government should respond by threatening to cancel the Oslo Accords, the 1990s agreement that led to the creation of the Paleostinian Authority.
Netanyahu has in the past spoken out against the creation of a Paleostinian state and others have also pushed back against comments from Washington and elsewhere suggesting that talks on ending fighting in Gaza sparked by Hamas’s brutal rampage through southern Israel on October 7 be used to jumpstart long-moribund efforts to reach a two-state solution.
The attack, in which some 1,200 people were killed in a paroxysm of murder, rape and other atrocities led by the Hamas terror group which rules Gaza, and 253 others were kidnapped and held hostage, distilled for many Israelis the security challenges long cited as a reason to oppose Paleostinian statehood.
Many in the international community have argued that the attacks showed the dangers of continuing to let the Israeli-Paleostinian conflict fester.

Western officials said that Israel caused another explosion on Thursday at a chemical plant on the outskirts of Tehran, shaking the entire area. However, local sources claimed the explosion at the plant resulted from an accident in the plant's fuel tank.
They would know well how to fake an accident, those perfidious juices!
Now, Western sources say, Israel has struck within Iran's borders with back-to-back explosions, unsettling the Iranians.
