The Media Is Covering Up Key Facts About the Lakewood Church Shooter's Motivations
See also here.
BLUF:
[PJ] One reason is that the left’s favorite religion is involved. Moreno made a donation to Lakewood church in 2020 but doesn’t appear to have been a committed church member, or at least a consistent one. ABC News reported Tuesday that Walli Carranza, Moreno’s former mother-in-law, said that "when she first met Moreno, the young woman wore a hijab and said she practiced Islam."
The lady is an untreated paranoid schizophrenic who was not deported years ago because her ex-husband, the convicted pedophile, wanted her to have the opportunity for treatment, should she ever realize she needed it.
It was also widely reported that Moreno’s AR-15 was emblazoned with a sticker reading "Palestine" and that "antisemitic writings" were found among her possessions, but nevertheless, as ABC put it, "a motive remains under investigation."

Yet Moreno’s own writings on Telegram, which she posted under the handle "Die Israel," have been ignored.
Mega churches, marches, political rally's, football stadiums, packed movie houses, anything involving large groups of people.......not for me.

Feds: Illegal Aliens Charged with Attack on NYPD Officers Members of Venezuela's Tren de Aragua Gang
[Breitbart] At least two of eight illegal aliens accused of attacking New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers last month are members of Venezuela’s violent street gang known as Tren de Aragua, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials reveal. Seven of the illegal aliens are now in jail on Rikers Island.

On Jan. 27, a mob of illegal aliens from Venezuela was caught on surveillance and police body cam footage attacking a pair of NYPD officers outside of a taxpayer-funded migrant shelter in midtown Manhattan.
I hadn’t realized that it was outside a migrant shelter.
Since then, eight illegal aliens have been charged with the attack. On Friday, seven of the illegal aliens were sent to jail on Rikers Island in New York after pleading not guilty. Only one illegal alien linked to the attack has yet to be arraigned.

The five illegal aliens arraigned on Friday are:

  • 24-year-old Yorman Reveron held on a $100,000 cash bail or $250,000 bond

  • 24-year-old Yohenry Brito held on a $15,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond

  • 19-year-old Kelvin Servita Arocha held on a $15,000 cash bail

  • 21-year-old Wilson Juarez held on a $1 cash bail

  • 19-year-old Darwin Gomez-Izquiel held on a $50,000 cash bail

Meanwhile, 21-year-old Ulises Bohorquez and 18-year-old Yarwuin Madris are already being held on Rikers Island for the attack. Bohorquez has a cash bail of $100,000, while Madris has been ordered held without bail.

Jhoan Boada, a 22-year-old illegal alien from Venezuela, has been charged and let out without bail but has yet to be arraigned.

Thanks to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D), linked to billionaire George Soros, previously not requesting bail for most, Brito and Madris were the only two illegal aliens charged in the attack who have remained consistently in jail, while the others had been released.

A so-called “sanctuary church” in Brooklyn, this week, had sought to help free Brito from jail by paying his previously set $15,000 cash bail, but he was ordered held on the bail on Friday.

According to ICE officials, who spoke to the Washington Times‘s Stephen Dinan, Juarez and Arocha are both members of Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua and crossed the southern border at some point in the last couple of years.

ICE agents had taken both into custody, noting that Arocha was wanted by the agency, while Juarez had already been ordered deported by a federal immigration judge a year ago but was never deported.

Juarez’s low bail of just $1 is likely to get him off Rikers Island, but ICE agents have said he will re-enter their custody if he is released from jail. Juarez’s bail is vastly lower than other suspects because he is charged with a single count of tampering with evidence, not with the attack.

The gang members’ involvement in the attack comes as federal authorities are increasingly worried that the nation’s porous southern border is allowing hundreds, potentially thousands, of Tren de Aragua members into American communities to set up shop.

In New York City, federal authorities worry that Tren de Aragua may form an alliance with the violent MS-13 gang from El Salvador which has many members across the city and Long Island.

’Sanctuary Church' Helps Free from Jail Illegal Alien Charged with Migrant Mob Attack on NYPD Officers

[Breitbart] One of only two illegal aliens held on bail following a migrant mob attack on New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers last month is now free to walk the streets again thanks to a so-called “sanctuary church” in Brooklyn that posted his bond.

On Jan. 27, a mob of illegal aliens from Venezuela were caught on surveillance and police body cam footage attacking a pair of NYPD officers outside of a taxpayer-funded migrant shelter in midtown Manhattan.

Thus far, only two of the seven illegal aliens charged with the violent attack have been ordered held on bail at Riker’s Island in New York City, while the others were immediately released thanks to New York state’s bail reform law.

Now, according to the New York Post, one of those illegal aliens held on bail is back on the city’s streets after a “sanctuary church” in Brooklyn paid his $15,000 bond:

The sole migrant who had been held behind bars for the gang attack on two NYPD cops in Times Square is now also free after an activist Brooklyn priest posted his $15,000 bail, The Post has learned. [Emphasis added]

Yohenry Brito, 24, who was being held at Rikers Island on the Jan. 27 cop attack and is due to be arraigned on an assault indictment this week, walked out of jail Tuesday after Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bay Ridge put up the money, the church’s pastor said. [Emphasis added]
“Our church is basically a sanctuary,” the Rev. Juan Ruiz told The Post on Wednesday. “We assume that people are innocent until they are proven otherwise.” [Emphasis added]

Yarwuin Madris, an 18-year-old illegal alien from Venezuela, was arrested this week for the attack and is being held in jail on bail.

Meanwhile, five illegal aliens — 24-year-old Yorman Reveron, 22-year-old Jhoan Boada, 21-year-old Wilson Juarez, 19-year-old Darwin Andres Gomez-Izquiel, and 19-year-old Kelvin Servita Arocha — have been charged with the attack but were all released without bail.

Boada went viral online when he was filmed leaving a Manhattan courthouse flipping off cameras earlier this month following his arrest.

Gomez-Izquiel is now back in NYPD custody after he was arrested for allegedly robbing a Macy’s in Queens just weeks after being arrested for the attack. Likewise, Juarez and Arocha are also now in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody but are due back in Manhattan court this week.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D), financially linked to billionaire George Soros, has come under immense fire for releasing most of the illegal aliens accused of the attack on NYPD officers.

What is even more troubling is the heavy inclusion therein of Cuban, Nicaraguan and suspected IRGC talent. That adds a subversive, informed, skilled over-structure to gang targeting and focus.

US House committee subpoenas Harvard over antisemitism investigation
[IsraelTimes] A US House of Representatives committee says it was subpoenaing Harvard for failing to produce priority documents related to the committee’s antisemitism investigation, a move the university said was "unfortunate" and "unwarranted."

Harvard University was asked last month to turn over a raft of material, including documents and other items showing its responses to discrimination, to reports of antisemitic acts, and recruitment and retention of Jewish students.

"Harvard has provided fulsome and good faith responses across 10 submissions totaling more than 3,500 pages that directly address key areas of inquiry put forward by the Committee," a university spokesperson tells Rooters in an emailed statement. Over 2,500 pages of these documents related to the committee’s antisemitism inquiry.

Harvard and other US colleges have simmered with tension over responses to the October 7 Hamas
...not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...
terror onslaught on Israel and Israel’s subsequent offensive in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
that aims to wipe out the Paleostinian terror group.

Republican Representative Virginia Foxx, who chairs the House Education and the Workforce Committee, says that "quality — not quantity — is the committee’s concern."

Foxx says more than 1,000 of the shared documents were already publicly available, and that Harvard had also failed to make substantial productions on two of four priority requests in its most recent response.

The subpoenas order the Harvard officials to produce a series of documents by 5 p.m. ET on March 4.

"While a subpoena was unwarranted, Harvard remains committed to cooperating with the committee and will continue to provide additional materials, while protecting the legitimate privacy, safety and security concerns of our community," the university says.

Claudine Gay resigned as president of Harvard last month following allegations of plagiarism and a backlash over her congressional testimony on antisemitism.

Abbott to construct 'forward operating base' for National Guard border efforts
[JustTheNews] The construction of the base is part of Operation Lone Star, Texas's unilateral effort to secure the border that has prompted a number of legal disputes with the federal government.

Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott on Friday announced the construction of a "forward operating base" near the southern border to bolster the National Guard's efforts to secure the border in the face of perceived federal apathy toward the unprecedented surge in illegal crossings.

Abbott announced the base during a press conference in Eagle Pass. The base will be situated on 80 acres of land near Eagle Pass and able to house up to 1,800 troops in individual rooms, plus an additional 500 in the event of special deployments.

"Texas is expanding our border security capabilities by building a new Texas Military Department base camp to increase and improve border security operations in this area," he said. "This will increase the ability for a larger number of Texas Military Department soldiers in Eagle Pass to operate more effectively and efficiently."

#4  Any traditional National Guard facility has a major portion of its operating expenses funded by the federal government, even if the land itself isn't direct federal property. If you want to sustain the border interdiction ops in Texas using the exclusively state military forces in a state active duty status, you need a operating site totally immune to federal controls.

If the US govt wants to 'federalize' the NatGuard, the state governor can require the feds to declare "a designated national emergency", which the Biden people do not want to do. There's been recent court cases about covid vaccine requirements from the DoD, and the DoD did not do well in in court.
If you go over to ArmyTimes.com, there's a buch of articles in this discussion. Although, at this point, I do not put any stupid idea past the Biden regime.

Somalia inks MoU with US for the building of five military bases
[ShabelleMedia] In a ceremony presided over by President Hassan Sheikh, the United States and Somalia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the construction of five military bases for the Somali National Army (SNA) Danab Brigade.

The bases will be built in locations across the federal member states, namely Baidoa, Dhusamareb, Jowhar, Kismayo

The President also underscored the critical Somalia-U.S. cooperation in the development of the security sector, adding that ’U.S. investments in the SNA/Danab have borne fruit, nurturing a formidable strike force that spearheads Somali Security Forces’ offensives against Al-Shabaab

Strip ahead of a planned Israeli offensive targeting Rafah, satellite images analyzed today by The News Agency that Dare Not be Named show.

Egypt hasn’t publicly acknowledged the construction but has warned Israel not to forcibly expel the Paleostinians now displaced in Rafah into Egypt.

But the images from the Egyptian side of the border in the Sinai Peninsula suggest Cairo is preparing for just that scenario, something that could threaten its 1979 peace deal with Israel.

Cairo officials did not respond to requests for comment Friday from the AP. The satellite images, taken Thursday by Maxar Technologies, show construction ongoing on the wall, which sits along the Sheikh Zuweid-Rafah Road some 3.5 kilometers (2 miles) west of the border with Gaza.

The images show cranes, trucks and what appear to be precast concrete barriers being set up along the road.
More from the Times of Israel:
Egyptian officials and security analysts told the Wall Street Journal that as part of contingency plans, work is underway on a 20 square kilometer walled enclosure near the Gaza Strip that could house over 100,000 people.

The Egyptian officials said, however, that Egypt would try to limit the number of Paleostinians in the walled area to 50,000 to 60,000 if large numbers of refugees flee the Strip.

The officials added that Paleostinians would be barred from leaving the area — which is not close to any Egyptian towns — unless leaving for another country, and that travel restrictions in northern Sinai would be tightened.

The local governor denied a refugee camp was being constructed, asserting to the Journal that the work was part of a damage assessment from past Egyptian military operations against Islamic State

European Union will launch Operation Aspides in the Red Sea on February 19
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Operation Aspides (Shields) to ensure the safety of navigation in the Red Sea will be launched on February 19 for a period of one year. A high-ranking EU representative told reporters about this on February 16 on the eve of a meeting of the foreign ministers of the 27 community countries.

“The launch will be on Monday for one year,” an EU spokesman said.

He explained that the objectives of the operation are expected to be achieved within this period.

The decision to launch Operation Aspides amid ongoing Yemeni Houthi attacks on civilian ships was published on 12 February in the Official Journal of the EU. It is assumed that the operation will take place in the area of the Bab el-Mandeb and Hormuz Straits, in the Gulf of Aden, the international waters of the Red and Arabian Seas, the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf.

Ships voluntarily provided by EU countries will take part in the operation. Germany and Belgium have already agreed to do this.

As Regnum reported, earlier Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said that strikes on the positions of the Yemeni Houthis carried out by the United States and Great Britain are contrary to the UN Charter. These countries are trying to drag other states into the conflict, he emphasized.

More from regnum.ru
Patrushev said that US and British strikes against the Houthis are completely illegitimate

The strikes on the positions of the Yemeni Houthis carried out by the United States and Great Britain are contrary to the UN Charter.
So are the missiles, etc. the Houthis are aiming at ships passing their shores, with the goal of disrupting international shipping. Going pirate has uncomfortable consequences.
These countries are trying to drag other states into the conflict, said Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev on February 16 at a meeting of Security Council secretaries on Afghan issues in Bishkek.

He emphasized that Washington and London started a war with Yemen, using as a pretext ensuring freedom of navigation in the Red Sea. They are trying to involve the countries of the region in it.
Sorry. Sitting there and taking it isn’t in the Anglo-Saxon DNA.
“However, their attacks on Houthi positions are absolutely illegitimate and have nothing to do with the exercise of the right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, as Washington is trying to present,” Patrushev said.

The Security Council Secretary also stated that due to the West's desire to dominate the world at any cost, the international situation has deteriorated to an unprecedented extent.

As Regnum reported, on the night of January 11-12, the United States and Britain, as part of an international coalition, began a military operation in Yemen. They used cruise missiles for attacks. Washington and London said the attack was in response to Houthi attacks on ships off the Yemeni coast.

It’s "more of an unknown threat that we don’t have a lot of intel on, that could be extremely lethal — an unmanned surface vessel," or USV, said Rear Adm. Marc Miguez, commander of Carrier Strike Group Two, of which the Eisenhower is the flagship.

The Houthis "have ways of obviously controlling them just like they do the (unmanned aerial vehicles), and we have very little little fidelity as to all the stockpiles of what they have USV-wise," Miguez said.

The Eisenhower has been on patrol here since November 4, and its accompanying ships have been on location for even longer, since October.

In those months the Eisenhower’s fleet of fighter and surveillance aircraft have worked non-stop to detect and intercept the missiles and drones fired by the Houthis at ships in the Red Sea, Bab el-Mandeb strait and Gulf of Aden. The carriers’ F/A-18 fighter jets are also frequently launched to take out missile sites they detect before munitions are fired.

As of Wednesday, the carrier strike group, which includes the cruiser USS Philippine Sea, the destroyers USS Mason and Gravely, and additional US Navy assets in the region including the destroyers USS Laboon and USS Carney have conducted more than 95 intercepts of drones, anti-ship ballistic missiles and anti-ship cruise missiles and made more than 240 self-defense strikes on more than 50 Houthi targets.

"We are constantly keeping an eye on what the Iranian-backed Houthis are up to, and when we find military targets that threaten the ability of merchant vessels, we act in defense of those ships and strike them precisely and violent mostly peacefully," said Capt. Marvin Scott, commander of the carrier air wing’s eight squadrons of warplanes.

But the USV threat, which is still evolving, is worrisome, Miguez said.

"That’s one of the most scary scenarios, to have a bomb-laden, unmanned surface vessel that can go in pretty fast speeds. And if you’re not immediately on scene, it can get ugly extremely quick," Miguez said.

That pace has meant the ships have spent four months at a constant combat pace with no days off with a port call.

#3  After decades of enormous expenditure of lives and treasure, leftists created a T-Shirt with the logo of "SouthEast Asian War Games, Second Place" to remind folks of the disastrous mistakes of the Viet Nam War as we explored the concept of "land war in Asia" to a penultimate conclusion.

For some of us here, the deja'vu, past is prologue, sensation feels familiar, fighting the surrogates of Iran while pretending they aren't, just as we pretended those weren't Soviet ships in Haiphong Harbor.

Aside from further emptying an already exhausted treasury to replenish very expensive ordnance (Making the MIC and their political allies happy) and massively resourcing extended deployment of critical, strategic naval assets, can someone name a definition of success for this before it gets a lot deeper?

Over 200,000 pro-Palestinian protesters allowed to demonstrate outside UK Israeli embassy
[Jpost] The Metropolitan Police said that the time of the protest had changed so that the demonstration would not disrupt any local synagogues.
So thoughtful of them.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed over X on Friday that Saturday’s Palestinian Solidarity Campaign would be allowed to demonstrate outside the Israeli embassy.

Over 200,000 protesters are expected to participate in the march, The Express reported.

“Participants in the protest will be kept more than 100m away from the embassy grounds, behind barriers controlled by officers. They will not be permitted to enter the area marked in red on the map below and anyone doing so faces arrest,” the police wrote on X.

The police added that, as a measure of precaution, the time of the demonstration had been changed so that it would not coincide with the time that members of the Jewish community leave synagogues on Shabbat.

Police said that one suspect was arrested ahead of the demonstration on suspicion of supporting a terrorist organization.

In addition to changing the time of the protest, the police stated that 1,500 officers would be policing the protest - “A significant number will be ensuring a protest march organized by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign takes place safely and that any offenses are dealt with.”

Brazil's Socialist President Lula Delivers Anti-Israel Rant in Egypt, Promises Money for UNRWA
[Breitbart] Brazilian radical leftist President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva condemned Israel on Thursday, accusing the country of killing “women and children” in its self-defense operations against the jihadist terrorist organization Hamas.

The Brazilian president, during an official visit to Egypt, issued his accusations against Israel as part of a speech given during a session of the League of Arab States, in which Lula also made demands for the United Nations to recognize “Palestine” as a state with Jerusalem as its capital. Lula then repeated its accusations against Israel in a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
Pres. Lula then emitted every lying lie the haters chant, without a shred of original thinking anywhere in his list.
Lula also defended the U.N. Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), the Palestinian relief organization, after multiple countries stopped funding it in response to evidence that its employees not only supported the October 7 slaughter, but participated in it.

“At a time when the Palestinian people need support the most, wealthy countries decide to cut humanitarian aid to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA),” Lula said. “Recent allegations against agency officials need proper investigation but should not paralyze it. Palestinian refugees in Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon will also be left without support.”

Lula committed an unspecified “new financial contribution to UNRWA” in defiance of the organization’s longstanding links to territory activity.
Talk is cheap.

Palestinian refugees in Dagestan ask officials about benefits and pensions
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] Employees of the Makhachkala MFC conducted an on-site consultation for refugees from Palestine. The main issues that interested migrants were obtaining child benefits, pensions and Russian citizenship, said a representative of the MFC.

As the "Caucasian Knot" wrote, 157 displaced people from Palestine, including 82 children, are accommodated at a recreation center near Makhachkala. 62 people have already received Russian passports, the issue of the legal status of other migrants is being resolved, the administration of the head of the republic reported. More than 30 migrants are ready to work in Dagestan, mainly in the healthcare sector, the head of the Republic’s Ministry of Labor reported. RGVK "Dagestan" reported on February 12 that there are 172 refugees from Palestine in the republic.

On November 21, 2023, the Dagestan authorities announced that they were ready to accept up to 200 refugees from Palestine, and 8.2 million rubles had been allocated for their accommodation. More than 30 migrants are ready to work in Dagestan, mainly in the healthcare sector, the head of the Republic’s Ministry of Labor reported. 12 immigrants from Palestine asked to be enrolled in universities to receive free higher education in Dagestan.

The Ministry of Health and the Medical University of Dagestan  organized  retraining courses for refugees from Palestine who decided to work in the republic’s healthcare system. The Insan Charitable Foundation has announced its readiness to pay for this training. Most of the Palestinian refugees who arrived in Dagestan are doctors by training, and the Ministry of Labor of the Republic offers jobs as shoemakers and manicurists to people without a specialty and wives of doctors.

Employees of the MFC of the Kirov district of Makhachkala visited the temporary accommodation center for refugees from the Gaza Strip and spoke about the procedure for processing documents, RGVK "Dagestan" reported today.

“First of all, they are asking for monthly benefits for the care of a child up to one and a half years old, monthly benefits in connection with the birth and upbringing of a child up to 17 years old. They are also interested in issues of obtaining citizenship of the Russian Federation, issues of obtaining pensions and certificates for maternity capital,” - Said Mamaeva, head of the legal department of the MFC Makhachkala branch in the Kirovsky district, said in the TV company's story.

Cyber
US rivals including Iran, North Korea using generative AI in offensive cyber ops
[IsraelTimes] Microsoft publishes report on instances of those countries, along with Russia and China, using its tech and that of partner OpenAI in attacks.

Microsoft said Wednesday it had detected and disrupted instances of US adversaries — chiefly Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
and North Korea
...hereditary Communist monarchy distinguished by its truculence and periodic acts of violence. Distinguishing features include Songun (Army First) policy, which involves feeding the army before anyone but the Dear Leadership, and Juche, which is Kim Jong Il's personal interpretation of Marxism-Leninism, which he told everybody was brilliant. In 1950 the industrialized North invaded agrarian South Korea. Twenty-one countries of the United Nations eventually contributed to the UN force opposing the invasion, with the United States providing around 90% of the military personnel. Seventy years later the economic results are in and it doesn't look good for Juche...
and to a lesser extent Russia and China — using or attempting to exploit generative artificial intelligence developed by the company and its business partner to mount or research offensive cyber operations.

The techniques Microsoft observed, in collaboration with its partner OpenAI, represent an emerging threat and were neither "particularly novel or unique," the Redmond, Washington, company said in a blog post.

However,
you can observe a lot just by watching...
the blog does offer insight into how US geopolitical rivals have been using large-language models to expand their ability to more effectively breach networks and conduct influence operations.

Microsoft said the "attacks" detected all involved large-language models the partners own and said it was important to expose them publicly even if they were "early-stage, incremental moves."

Cybersecurity firms have long used machine learning on defense, principally to detect anomalous behavior in networks. But criminals and offensive hackers use it as well, and the introduction of large-language models led by OpenAI’s ChatGPT upped that game of cat-and-mouse.

Microsoft has invested billions of dollars in OpenAI, and Wednesday’s announcement coincided with its release of a report noting that generative AI is expected to enhance malicious social engineering, leading to more sophisticated deepfakes and voice cloning. This could be a threat to democracy in a year when over 50 countries will conduct elections, magnifying disinformation.

Here are some examples Microsoft provided. In each case, it said all generative AI accounts and assets of the named groups were disabled:

• The North Korean cyberespionage group known as Kimsuky has used the models to research foreign think tanks that study the country, and to generate content likely to be used in spear-phishing hacking campaigns.

• Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has used large-language models to assist in social engineering, troubleshooting software errors, and even studying how intruders might evade detection in a compromised network. That includes generating phishing emails "including one pretending to come from an international development agency and another attempting to lure prominent feminists to an attacker-built website on feminism." The AI helps accelerate and boost email production.

• The Russian GRU military intelligence unit known as Fancy Bear has used the models to research satellite and radar technologies that may relate to the war in Ukraine.

• The Chinese cyberespionage group known as Aquatic Panda — which targets a broad range of industries, higher education, and governments from La Belle France to Malaysia — has interacted with the models "in ways that suggest a limited exploration of how LLMs can augment their technical operations."

• The Chinese group Maverick Panda, which has targeted US defense contractors among other sectors for more than a decade, had interactions with large-language models suggesting it was evaluating their effectiveness as a source of information "on potentially sensitive topics, high profile individuals, regional geopolitics, US influence, and internal affairs."

Europe
Pro-Palestinian groups file legal action against German politician who expressed support for IDF’s Gaza op
[IsraelTimes] Pro-Paleostinian activists have filed criminal charges against a German politician for suspected incitement of hate and denial of war crimes in Israel’s war in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. , they say.

The charges against Volker Beck, a former member of parliament and head of the German-Israeli Society, were brought by Paleostinian solidarity groups Paleostine Speaks and Jewish Voice for Just Peace in the Middle East.

"This is the first step in holding public figures who publicly make genocidal statements legally accountable," the group writes on its Instagram.

The charges, filed at five prosecutor offices across Germany, cite Beck’s statements on social media, in opinion pieces and media interviews in which he expressed support for Israel’s military operation in Gaza, calling for making humanitarian aid conditional on Hamas
...the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,...
freeing Israeli hostages.

Beck rejected the claims as "nonsense."

"There is no genocide in Gaza and I do not advocate genocide," he told Rooters, adding that he had filed complaints against the groups for defamation.

"These people have a disturbed relationship with the rule of law if they believe that many complaints lead to more investigations."

Germany has staunchly defended Israel’s right to defend itself since the Hamas attacks on October 7, underscoring its duty to stand by the country’s side in atonement for the Holocaust in which six million Jews died.

The government has faced accusations — including from prominent Jewish residents in Germany — of allowing guilt to blinker its response to Israel’s retaliation, which has caused a humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Berlin has shifted towards a more critical stance of its ally as the Paleostinian civilian corpse count has mounted, stressing the need for Israel to adhere to international law.

The International Court of Justice last month ordered Israel to take all measures within its power to prevent its troops from committing genocide against Paleostinians in Gaza, in a case brought by South Africa.

Israel has denied allegations of genocide.

’s ouster in 2022 via a no-confidence vote have triggered a debate and raised questions over the facts he shared in the interview.

During an interview with a private TV channel on Thursday, Fazl claimed that the no-trust move against the PTI government was tabled on the directives of ex-army chief General (retired) Qamar Javed Bajwa and former spymaster Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hamid.

A multi-party alliance led by Fazlur Rehman — Pakistain Democratic Movement (PDM) — had tabled the no-confidence motion in March 2022 which was passed by the National Assembly the next month, paving the way for a coalition government headed by Shehhaz Sharif of Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz (PML-N).

The sources revealed that Gen Bajwa had asked the opposition leaders to withdraw the no-confidence motion against the PTI founder. "An offer was made that if the no-trust motion is withdrawn, the then-prime minister will resign and announce elections," the sources added.

However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
the sources said that during the meeting, Bilawal and Fazl opposed the proposal.

The then-PDM chief claimed in the interview that "I was personally against the no-confidence move [...] but if I had said no despite the insistence of other parties, then an impression would’ve been given that I ’saved’ the PTI founder".

Fazl also said: "While the PPP was running the movement for a no-confidence motion, Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hamid told me that I could do whatever I wanted, but within the system."

The JUI-F chief said Hamid told him that he could not "do anything outside the system" — meaning that every move should be made inside the parliament, not on the streets.

"But I rejected his directions," he said but noted that later on, the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), MQM-P, and others left the PTI-led government.

"When they said that [the anti-PTI] is now in the majority, I had to agree with them otherwise it would’ve been said that I helped save Imran Khan," the JUI-F chief, who has rejected February 8 election results, said.

After many twists and turns, PTI finally decides to play opposition's role in Centre, Punjab
[GEO.TV] As the political uncertainty about who will form the government in the light of February 8 general election continues, the Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf

's directives.

PTI leader Barrister Saif, while speaking to journalists after a meeting with Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) in Islamabad, said that PTI has decided to sit on the opposition benches in the National Assembly and Punjab Assembly.

"Many politicians face the allegations that they have power lust but we have decided to sit in the opposition in the Centre and Punjab, despite the fact that if we had got the seats according to the votes we received, we would have been forming the government in the Centre," he said.

Saif added that the Form-45s were the evidence that the PTI-backed candidates had won but the results were changed in the Form-47s.

He said that party was making contacts with political parties on Khan's orders, and that is why a delegation led by Asad Qaiser visited the QWP secretariat.

Saif said that the 2024 polls, which he said were "rigged", created political unrest in the country and resulted in wide scale complaints from the political parties and those "who had the right" and who had received got the votes of people.

"Peoples votes were tempered with," he asserted.

Saif said that some people would be cheering that they have got to form the government, but this celebration would be short-lived.

"If we see this in the long term, this is a huge problem for the nation, the country and the parliamentary democracy in Pakistain because the coming generations have to bear the brunt of such incidents," the lawyer-turned politician said while referring to the alleged rigging in polls.

He said that PTI wants "harmony and an environment of reconciliation" in the country.

Sharing the details about the meeting with QWP, Saif said that the PTI requested the party leaders to join it on the agenda to protest the alleged polls rigging.

At this, QWP leader Sikandar Sherpao told PTI that they will announce their course of action after sharing PTI’s proposal with the party's committee.

the outcome of the polls did not turn out to be as expected by the political actors as none of them got a simple majority.

However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
maintaining its stance of having the majority, the PTI also alleges that the polls were "not free and fair" and plans to stage countrywide peaceful protests against the alleged rigging.

Earlier, the PTI-backed independent candidates held a joint presser, which established that the February 8 general election had set new records of rigging.

Despite having the largest number of successful candidates in the general polls, the Khan-founded PTI disapproved of the polls results, saying that the 2024 elections would be remembered in the country's history due to the scale of rigging.

'Bushra Bibi's life in danger at Bani Gala'
[GEO.TV] Maryam Riaz Wattoo, the sister of former first lady Bushra Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who isn't your heaviest-duty thinker, maybe not even among the top five...
, has claimed that her sister’s life is in danger at Bani Gala, where she is under house arrest.

Bushra, the wife of former prime minister Imran Khan, was placed under house arrest at her husband’s Islamabad mansion after she and her husband were convicted of graft allegations.

Khan and his wife were sentenced to 14 years in jail in a case that relates to accusations the ex-premier undervalued gifts from a state repository and gained profits from selling them while he held the country’s top office.

Wattoo told Geo News that she is very concerned about the safety of her sister as "Bushra has been treated badly by the jail authorities".

She said the jail superintendent Adiala is responsible for the safety of Bushra but "evidence" shows that the jail authorities are failing in their duty.

Wattoo, Bushra’s younger sister, who is an educationist by profession and based in Dubai, said her sister’s daughter met her after more than 10 days and informed that Bushra was given "some weird, very strong-tasting food six days ago which has burnt her throat and stomach completely such that since last six days she has not been able to eat anything, has gone very weak and is not well".

She claimed that the policewoman who gave her the food that day had been transferred since.

Wattoo said that no doctor was called in on time to examine her and the delay means that the impact would be diluted of what was given in good to her sister.

In a post on X, Wattoo also highlighted concerns for her sister.

She said: "No doctor has been called in for consultation. Mrs. Bushra Imran Khan was very healthy when she submitted herself for arrest. She has no diseases like diabetes, hypertension, or anything else."

Top UN court rejects South African request for urgent measures to safeguard Rafah
[Ynet] The top UN court on Friday rejected a South African request to impose urgent measures to safeguard Rafah in the Gaza Strip, but also stressed that Israel must respect earlier measures imposed late last month at a preliminary stage in a landmark genocide case.

The International Court of Justice said in a statement that the "perilous situation" in Rafah "demands immediate and effective implementation of the provisional measures" that it ordered Jan. 26.

It said no new order was necessary because the existing measures "are applicable throughout the Gaza Strip, including in Rafah."
The World Court added that Israel "remains bound to fully comply with its obligations under the Genocide Convention" and the Jan. 26 ruling which ordered Israel to do all it can to prevent death, destruction and any acts of genocide in Gaza.
Israel simply must do something nice for South Afrika - to teach monkeys not to fling feces.

in Israel and Israel’s military response in the Gaza Strip.

"Politically, this will help in achieving a two-state solution. We are using the platform of the largest judicial body to advance our cause," Omar Awadallah, a bigwig in the Paleostinian Authority foreign ministry, tells journalists at a briefing before the hearings.

Israel captured the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem in the Six Day War of 1967. It withdrew from Gaza in 2005, but, along with neighboring Egypt, still controls its borders.

It is the second time the UN General Assembly has asked the ICJ, also known as the World Court, for an advisory opinion related to the occupied Paleostinian territory. In July 2004, the court found that Israel’s separation wall in the West Bank violated international law and should be dismantled, though it still stands to this day.

The advisory opinion proceedings are separate from the genocide case that South Africa filed at the World Court against Israel for its alleged violations in Gaza of the 1948 Genocide Convention. In late January the ICJ in that case ordered Israel to do everything in its power to prevent acts of genocide in Gaza.

The outcome of the advisory opinion would not be legally binding but would carry "great legal weight and moral authority," according to the ICJ.

The precise question put to the court is to give an opinion on the legal consequences of Israel’s "occupation, settlement and annexation... including measures aimed at altering the demographic composition, character and status of the Holy City of Jerusalem, and from its adoption of related discriminatory legislation and measures."

The general assembly also asked the 15-judge panel of the ICJ to advise on how those policies and practices "affect the legal status of the occupation" and what legal consequences arise for all countries and the United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
from this status.

The court will hear over 50 states and three international organizations over six days of hearings including the United States, Russia, China and South Africa. While Israel has filed a written statement with the court, it has not asked to participate in the hearings. On Monday proceedings will start with submissions from the Paleostinian authorities.

so far amounts to around $20 billion, a UN trade body official says,
Does that include replacing hundreds of miles of tunnels?
Speaking on the sidelines of a UN meeting in Geneva, Richard Kozul-Wright, a director at trade body UNCTAD, said the damage was already four times that sustained in Gaza during the seven-week war in 2014.

"We are talking about around $20 billion if it stops now," he says.

Kozul-Wright said earlier that Gaza will need a new "Marshall Plan" to recover from the war, referring to the US plan for Europe’s economic recovery after World War II.

He says the $20 billion estimate is based on satellite images and other information and that a more precise estimate would require researchers to enter Gaza.

UNCTAD already said in a report last month that it could take until the closing years of the century for Gaza’s economy to regain its pre-conflict size if hostilities in the Paleostinian enclave were to cease immediately.

US envoy: IDF killed Palestinian cops escorting Gaza aid convoy, leading them to refuse missions
Even as the international crowd complains that supplies are not getting to the Gazans, Israel has approved 500 truckloads awaiting transshipment. Here is the latest excuse for why the trucks are not rolling:
[IsraelTimes] The top US diplomat involved in humanitarian assistance for Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
says Israeli forces earlier this month killed Paleostinian police protecting a UN aid convoy in the enclave’s embattled southern city of Rafah.
Rafah being in Gaza, that means the police are either employed by Hamas or members of Hamas. Got it.
As a result, Paleostinian police have refused to protect convoys, hampering aid deliveries inside Gaza because of threats from criminal gangs, says David Satterfield, Washington’s special regional envoy for humanitarian issues.
The criminal gangs are also Hamas, making the whole thing ironic or symbolic of the human condition to a certain kind of mind
"With the departure of police escorts, it has been virtually impossible for the UN or anyone else, Jordan, the UAE, or any other implementer to safely move assistance in Gaza because of criminal elements," Satterfield tells an event hosted by the Washington-based Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
No matter whether they’re wearing Hamas police uniforms or Hamas gunny uniforms, the supplies will still end up under Hamas control, with the first cut going to Hamas and only what little is left over distributed among the suffering unconnected peons
Satterfield says the police escorts include Hamas
...the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,...
members but also officers with no direct affiliation to the terror group.
So disingenuous. If they’re on the Hamas payroll, they’re under Hamas orders.
Israel’s military did not immediately provide comment on his remarks.
They were busy detailing a private to sweep up Envoy Satterfield’s fallen lips.
Satterfield is asked if there was any truth to a report that Israeli troops killed "Hamas operatives" protecting a UN aid convoy in Rafah earlier this month.

"The IDF (Israeli Defense Force) 10 days, two weeks ago, did indeed strike at seven, eight, or nine police officials, including a commander whose units had been involved in providing escorts," he replies.
Hamas operatives, in short.
Such escorts were needed because of attacks on aid convoys first by "desperate" Paleostinians and "then by criminal elements," Satterfield says.

The police "certainly include Hamas elements. They also include individuals who don’t have a direct affiliation with Hamas who are there as part of the Paleostinian Authority’s remnant presence and security," he says, referring to the Western-backed body that exercises limited governance in the occupied West Bank.

On Feb. 10, Hamas and Gaza medics said that two Israeli Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s had killed five members of Rafah’s Hamas-run police force, including a senior officer. The same day, Israel’s military said it had struck and killed three Hamas button men in Rafah, including two senior operatives in the area.

It is not clear if Satterfield was referring to the Feb. 10 incident. Hamas has not said if it has stopped police escorts of aid convoys.
If they have not said so, they haven’t stopped.
Satterfield says the US is working with the Israeli government and military to determine "what solutions can be found because everyone wants the assistance to continue."

They aren’t refusing all missions:
Palestinian teen trying to grab humanitarian aid said shot dead by Hamas police

[IsraelTimes] A Palestinian teen named Muhammad al-Araja who tried to grab from a humanitarian aid shipment at the Rafah Crossing was shot dead earlier today, apparently by Hamas police, according to unconfirmed Arabic media reports.

After the shooting, many members of the victim’s large extended family began rioting at the crossing, setting fire to parts of the complex and clashing with authorities there.

Israel bristles at report US, Arab allies will propose Palestinian state plan in weeks
[IsraelTimes] Blueprint, including ’firm timeline,’ tied to pause in Gazoo fighting, says Washington Post; Israel says ’now is not the time to be speaking about gifts to the Paleostinian people’.

The US and several Arab partners are preparing a detailed plan for a comprehensive peace deal between Israel and the Paleostinians that includes a "firm timeline" for a Paleostinian state, according to a report Thursday, sparking immediate denunciations from senior members of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet and a front man for the government. According to the Washington Post report, citing US and Arab officials, an announcement on the blueprint could come in the next few weeks, though the timing is largely dependent on Israel and Hamas
...a regional Iranian catspaw,...
being able to reach a deal pausing the fighting in Gaza. The proposed plan includes steps that Israel has previously refused, including the evacuation of many West Bank settlements, a Paleostinian capital in East Jerusalem and a combined security apparatus and government for the West Bank and Gaza.

The US and its Arab partners are hoping security guarantees and normalization with Arab states like Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
can persuade Israel to go along with the plan, the Post reported.

Officials told the Post they hoped to make the plan public once Israel and Hamas agree to a temporary truce aimed at allowing humanitarian aid into Gaza and freeing the 134 hostages still held by terror groups in the Strip.

According to the report, during the pause, steps would be taken toward implementation of the proposal, including forming an interim Paleostinian government that could also rule over Gaza.

In response to the report, a front man for the Israeli government said that now is not the time to be discussing plans for the "day after" Hamas.

"Here in Israel, we are still in the aftermath of the October 7 massacre," said Prime Minister’s Office front man Avi Hyman in a briefing. "Now is not the time to be speaking about gifts to the Paleostinian people, at a time when the Paleostinian Authority themselves have yet to even condemn the October 7 massacre."

"Now is the time for victory, total victory over Hamas," Hyman added. "All discussions of the day after Hamas will be had the day after Hamas."

A veteran Democratic member of US Congress later hit back at Hyman.

"A two-state solution is not a ’gift.’ It is the only viable solution to the Israeli-Paleostinian conflict," Representative Jerry Fester Bestertester Nadler
...the Dem New York representative-for-life who stepped whole from a Don Martin drawing in the pages of Mad® magazine, head of the House Judiciary Committee...
of New York wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

"Israel must be able to defend itself, particularly after the horrors of October 7, but long-run security will only come through an appropriately negotiated solution that involves rebuilding Gaza and establishing a Paleostinian state in Gaza and the West Bank with adequate security and governance plans," he added.

Last week, Saudi Arabia hosted a regional meeting six top Arab ministers aimed at advancing a joint political vision for rehabilitating the Gaza Strip and establishing a Paleostinian state after the Israel-Hamas war. Participants at the meeting agreed to move forward with the effort and several drafts of the plan have already begun circulating between the countries, though it is unclear when it will be unveiled, two senior diplomats told The Times of Israel.

The US has publicly refused to back calls for a permanent ceasefire to end the fighting in Gaza, citing Israel’s need to defend itself by destroying Hamas, but officials in recent weeks have increasingly spoken of the truce leading to an end to hostilities.

"We’re looking for a temporary pause as part of the hostage deal, and then to build on that into something more enduring," US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said Wednesday.

News of the plan was met with vehement opposition by hardline ministers in Israel’s government opposed to the creation of a Paleostinian state, with Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich saying he would demand the high-level security cabinet adopt a statement rejecting the establishment of a Paleostinian state when it meets later Thursday.

"We will never agree, under any circumstances, to this plan that basically says the Paleostinians deserve a prize for the terrible massacre they carried out against us: a Paleostinian state with a capital in Jerusalem," Smotrich posted on X.

Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli, a member of Netanyahu’s Likud party, said the government should respond by threatening to cancel the Oslo Accords, the 1990s agreement that led to the creation of the Paleostinian Authority.

Netanyahu has in the past spoken out against the creation of a Paleostinian state and others have also pushed back against comments from Washington and elsewhere suggesting that talks on ending fighting in Gaza sparked by Hamas’s brutal rampage through southern Israel on October 7 be used to jumpstart long-moribund efforts to reach a two-state solution.

The attack, in which some 1,200 people were killed in a paroxysm of murder, rape and other atrocities led by the Hamas terror group which rules Gaza, and 253 others were kidnapped and held hostage, distilled for many Israelis the security challenges long cited as a reason to oppose Paleostinian statehood.

Many in the international community have argued that the attacks showed the dangers of continuing to let the Israeli-Paleostinian conflict fester.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Israel reportedly behind rare strikes on civilian infrastructure in Iran
Say anonymous officials — who may or may not exist, given it’s the New York Times...
[IsraelTimes] Israel was behind a pair of attacks on major gas pipelines inside Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
this week, which disrupted the flow of gas to millions of people, The New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

reports, citing two Western officials and a military strategist affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

If confirmed, the strike would amount to an escalation by Israel, which has to take largely targeted military and nuclear sites, as opposed to civilian ones.

"The enemy’s plan was to completely disrupt the flow of gas in winter to several main cities and provinces in our country," Iran’s oil minister, Javad Owji, told Iranian media in comments on the "sabotage and terrorist attacks.

He avoids publicly blaming Israel for the blasts, which he says were aimed at damaging Iran’s energy infrastructure and stirring public upheaval.

One Western official tells NYT that the strike was largely symbolic, causing minimal harm and being easy to repair.

The two Western officials say Israel was also behind another blast yesterday inside a chemical factory on the outskirts of Tehran.
Beware those terrifyingly omnipresent Israeli spy squirrels — they’ve been upgraded with new tricks up their sleeves.
Courtesy of Grom, Ynet goes into greater detail:
Israel is reported to have long targeted military and nuclear sites within Iran, even assassinating Iranian nuclear scientists and commanders both inside and outside the country.

Cyberattacks believed to be carried out by Israel have aimed to disable servers belonging to Iran's Ministry of Petroleum.
Oh? Iran has been trying to accomplish the same for several years. I guess the Israelis got tired of their nonsense.
According to the report, officials and analysts said that the attack on the country's energy infrastructure, relied on by industries, factories and millions of civilians, marked an escalation in the covert war and appeared to open a new frontier.

The Western sources and the Iranian military strategist said that the attacks required deep knowledge of Iran's infrastructure and careful coordination, especially since two pipelines were simultaneously hit in multiple locations.
That does sound like Israel...
Western officials said that Israel caused another explosion on Thursday at a chemical plant on the outskirts of Tehran, shaking the entire area. However, local sources claimed the explosion at the plant resulted from an accident in the plant's fuel tank.
They would know well how to fake an accident, those perfidious juices!
Now, Western sources say, Israel has struck within Iran's borders with back-to-back explosions, unsettling the Iranians.
The poor darlings.
In September, Mossad chief David Barnea issued an unusual public warning that “any harm” Israelis or Jews “by Iranian proxies or weapons” would lead to retaliation deep within Iran.
