Climate Prognoses “Not Worth The Paper They’re Printed On”

#1  A very simple question I can't get any "Global Warming" fan to answer.

Did higher levels of CO2 cause warmings in the past or did warmings cause higher CO2 levels (the latter is of course self evident)

They say, that CO2 caused the warmings... ummm first.

OK I say. Do you agree that the dinosaurs lived in a much warmer climate?

Sure

OK, IF CO2 is causing the warming AND of course a warmer climate leads to the release of more CO2, why are we living in a cooler climate now? Shouldn't CO2 levels have risen and risen? Where did it all go so that the climate could cool?

Doesn't it make a lot more sense that CO2 is (almost completely) irrelevant?

When it gets warmer CO2 levels rise.
When it gets cooler, CO2 levels fall.

Occam's Razor, anyone?

#2  CO2 would only rise and fall with temperature if there was a massive body of di-hydrogen monoxide covering 2/3rds of the planet which the CO2 would dissolve into and out of based on the temperature...
Posted by: Bright Pebbles || 11/23/2010 6:55 Comments || Top||

#3  Last time I looked, CO2 was 383 parts per million in the atmosphere, that's less than 1%, just how can so little heat up so much? Norway reported it coldest summer on record, snow in southern Brazil, I thought global warming meant the whole globe, not bits of it
Posted by: pikestaff || 11/23/2010 7:24 Comments || Top||

#4  Exactly, European Conservative.
Right on.

The whole thing is just one big bubble of Hot Air cooked up by multiculti UN bureaucrats who are using the old "global warming" threat as a tool to:
1) attack Western economies - if you hobble our C02 emissions but allow countries like China free reign then you cripple our export competitiveness. It's a non-tariff barrier designed to make us poor and the "third world" rich
2) raise massive new taxes on silly Western countries for the purposes of expanding the UN bureaucracy and creating more highly paid jobs for consultants, conferences at five-star hotels in exotic locations etc

that is all it is
it's a load of BS

Carbon dioxide is GOOD
Plants breathe it in
people breathe it out

i would be happy if every climate alarmist would do us a favour and reduce "climate gasses" by just holding their breath

#5  oh yeah and Al Gore - whose badly-made propaganda film "an inconvenient truth" (including fake hockey-stick graph) sparked the whole climate panic - became the world's first "climate change billionaire" thanks to the moral panic he helped create

hmmmmm .... and the dimwits who talk about the "oil conspiracies" don't get it?

#6  That hit piece on Dyson had a couple of interesting comments. It looks like 2 guys ran some of the calculations and found an error from 30 or more years ago by some De Leeurt or some such name, Sagan based some of his stuff on that, NASA based on Sagan.....and they both came up w/the calculations are off by a factor of about 3.

this comment from an article about how AGW had a bad week may relate:

Don’t miss the physics at Rank Exploits and No Consensus, where a possibly fundamental flaw in the climate models is being dissected.

The problem is that GW fans (no, wait, the pc term now is "climate change") have managed to suppress free speech in the scientific community. Few non-believers in the gospel dare to speak out because they will be branded as a "denialist", as if we were speaking about a historic fact like the Shoah.

Denialist is not a word that should exist in science.

Bright Pebbles
Sounds dangerous. We need to take care of that di-hydrogen monoxide, too. Can't be good. Probably influences climate, too.

Well, you might think this is a joke but it isn't. The EU wants to ban shower heads which dispense too much water. In all of Europe.

Problem is: In Germany we have LOTS of water. Impossible to "waste" it. We even have to worry because people try to "save" water and the pipes clog and germs develop.

But the EU doesn't care (yet). What's good for desert-like Alicante is good for lush and green Bavaria.

#8  E.C. - Many places in the USA already ban high-volume shower heads (as well as toilets which use too much water). The showheads contain flow restrictors.

Some places sell shower heads with 'multiple heads' to work around the problem.

#9  R U taxed on your water usage?

If that goes down, less revenue. And at this point, that doesn't sound like a good idea.
Posted by: anonymous2u || 11/23/2010 9:34 Comments || Top||

#10  And then we go to Canuckistan and get the 5G toilets.

#11  CrazyFool:

It's pretty easy to take the flow restrictors out. I highly recommend it.

#14  I've always laughed about the save water issue. You can talk about heating the water being a problem I suspect, but the water itself does not disappear when we use it. It ends up in the ocean and back into the clouds, etc, etc. The only water that gets wasted is the stuff in aquifers and ground wells. In some areas (the American Southwest) sucking that up can be a real problem.

Having said that, if saving water is the big goal each person using less isn't the answer, higher prices and/or stopping the rampant home building that adds more people is the answer.

#15  we have water restrictions in sydney
plenty of water for a city of 2 million - life was great then. You could drive on the roads, find a parking space, have a house and garden

not enough water for 4 million people. life is miserable. people live in high-rise boxes, and they don't know what it is to plant a tree or dig in their own garden.

and water restrictions . no washing your car. no watering the garden (those that have such a luxury). flow restrictors in shower heads (for $50 i got a plumber to take mine out - otherwise you can't get the shampoo out of your hair!)

cut population and living standards rise.

#16  #7 E.C. - Germany really needs to (a) get out of the EU and (b) go back to the Deutschemark.

Before the rest of Europe drags y'all down to their insolvent and insane level.

My opinion, anyway. Your mileage may vary.

#1  Nope, it just demonstrates "Ricardos Law of Rent" whereby low taxes DO stimulate the economy, but that gain is taken not by workers but those who own government created monopolies on the Land.

If the state just taxes Land rights (not what you build on it, or what you earn on it), instead of punishing wealth creators then the economy wouldn't be so fooked.
Posted by: Bright Pebbles || 11/23/2010 19:42 Comments || Top||

#2  You should imagine Land Rent as a form of privately created tax, and thus.

The ONLY way to really lower tax is for the state to tax land rights, and stop taxing wealth creation.

#3  I'm taxed on MY "Land" every year, it's called "Property Tax".
I pay $130.00 Per year, don't pay it and lose the land.
Mom (Who lives in town), Pays considerably more, She pays $388.38 Tax each and every year. Partly because the value is higher.(It's based on property value, and which county you live in.)

Hate Crimes Against Muslims "rare" Study Shows
The Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has claimed that "anti-Muslim hate crimes" have risen sharply in the U.S. since 9/11. In fact, the rate of such crimes has actually dropped, and as this new study shows, it is quite low compared to hate crimes against other groups. CAIR exaggerates the number and seriousness of hate crimes against Muslims because it knows that victimhood is big business: insofar as it can claim protected victim status for Muslims in the U.S., it can deflect unwanted scrutiny and any critical examination of how jihadists use Islamic texts and teachings to justify violence and supremacism."Blacks, Jews most likely victim of US hate crimes: FBI,"
WASHINGTON (AFP) - Blacks and Jews were the most likely victims of hate crimes driven by racial or religious intolerance in the United States last year, the FBI said Monday in an annual report.

Out of 6,604 hate crimes committed in the United States in 2009, some 4,000 were racially motivated and nearly 1,600 were driven by hatred for a particular religion, the FBI said.

Blacks made up around three-quarters of victims of the racially motivated hate crimes and Jews made up the same percentage of victims of anti-religious hate crimes, the report said.

Anti-Muslim crimes were a distant second to crimes against Jews, making up just eight percent of the hate crimes driven by religious intolerance....

#1  Yet hate crimes against Christian are not even documented. Hate crimes globally by Islam is off the chart! This whole hate crime tracking is really crimes by Christians only and is a fraud! Go back to our dear leaders "Human caused disaster" and see if it is a hate crime since in his mind it was not a terrorist act.

#3  From the methodology section of the FBI report:
Only when law enforcement investigation reveals sufficient evidence to lead a reasonable and prudent person to conclude that the offender’s actions were motivated, in whole or in part, by his or her bias, should an incident be reported as a hate crime.

This means the data includes incidents where some "offenders" haven't been charged much less convicted of a crime. So even if much of the erroneous public claims of bias motivated crimes are filtered out the report still relies on subjective judgments by law enforcement. A true representation should factor convictions vs reported incidents. The numbers would then prove the folly of so-called hate crime legislation.

#4  "Hate crimes" shouldn't even exist as a legal entity. One law governs all or you're asking for problems.

#5  According to the mooselimbs, every slight, disagreement, questioning statement, etc., etc., ad nauseum is a hate crime or cause for jihad.

#6  solution: get all the biggest hate crime victims - jews, blacks and muslims, and put them in a nice sunny island in the caribbean or south pacific.

Plenty of fresh water, good land to till, teeming fisheries, grazing land for livestock.

then sail away

i wonder what would be there in a thousand years?
