Mexico: 36 bodies found in backyard
Mexican officials said Saturday that 36 bodies were found buried in the backyard of a house in a city across the border from El Paso, Texas, and they believe that number represents the final tally. Mexican federal agents began digging behind a Ciudad Juarez house allegedly used by the Juarez drug cartel two weeks ago after receiving an anonymous tip, officials said.

In the raid, investigators found 3,740 pounds of marijuana in the house. They initially found six dismembered bodies, but as excavations proceeded the tally rose. On Saturday, the Attorney General's office said in a statement that a total of 36 bodies had been found in 16 pits in the house's yard. The last previous estimate had been 33. Officials did not provide details on the three new bodies. The statement said investigators are done excavating behind the house in La Cuesta neighborhood and they believe there are no more remains to be found.

The remains date back about five years and all but three apparently are males. The statement said investigators were still trying to determine how the victims died and who buried the bodies.

Ciudad Juarez has been plagued by violence as Mexico's crackdown on powerful drug cartels stokes turf wars among traffickers that have been linked to hundreds of killings in the past two years. Cartels frequently use "safe houses" in border cities to store drugs, house gunmen and dispose of dead rivals. In January 2004, police unearthed a grave containing 12 bodies in a Ciudad Juarez backyard.

NEW NY Gov admits to sex with other woman for years
When does this end? Oh, and get ready to play "Name that Party!"
The thunderous applause was still ringing in his ears when the state's new governor, David Paterson, told the Daily News that he and his wife had extramarital affairs. In a stunning revelation, both Paterson, 53, and his wife, Michelle, 46, acknowledged in a joint interview they each had intimate relationships with others during a rocky period in their marriage several years ago.

In the course of several interviews in the past few days, Paterson said he maintained a relationship for two or three years with "a woman other than my wife," beginning in 1999. As part of that relationship, Paterson said, he and the other woman sometimes stayed at an upper West Side hotel — the Days Inn at Broadway and W. 94th St.

He said members of his Albany legislative staff often used the same hotel when they visit the city.
"This was a marriage that appeared to be going sour at one point," Paterson conceded in his first interview Saturday. "But I went to counseling and we decided we wanted to make it work. Michelle is well aware of what went on."

In a second interview with Paterson and his wife Monday, only hours after he was sworn in to replace scandal-scarred Eliot Spitzer, Michelle Paterson confirmed her husband's account. "Like most marriages, you go through certain difficult periods," Michelle Paterson said. "What's important is for your kids to see you worked them out."

#3  FEELIN’ ALRIGHT – Joe Cocker / Dave Mason

Seems I got to have a change of scene
Cause every night I have the strangest dream
Imprisoned by the way, yeah, it could’ve been
Left here on my own or so it seems
I got to leave before I start to scream
But someone's locked the door and took the key

Feelin' alright, (uh oh)
Not feelin' too good myself, (uh oh)
Feelin' alright, (uh oh)
Not feelin' that good myself, (uh oh)

Boy you sure took me for one big ride
Even now I sit and I wonder why
And when I think of you I stop myself from cryin’
I Just can’t waste my time I must get by
Got to stop belivin' in all your lies
Cause there’s too much to do before I die

Feelin' alright, (uh oh)
Not feelin' too good myself, (uh oh)
Oh no, Feelin' alright, (uh oh)
Not feelin' that good myself, (uh oh)

PIANO SOLO, then INTRO PART

(Feelin’ alright) Don't you get too lost in all I say
Yeah, but at the time you know I really felt that way
But that was then and now you know it’s today
I can't escape I guess I'm here to stay
’til someone comes along to take my place
With a different name and a different face

CHORUS x 3 with ad libs then fade

#14  Well, yesterday it was one...

ALBANY, N.Y. - The state's new governor revealed Tuesday that he had affairs with several women, including a state employee. The confession came day after he took over from former Gov. Eliot Spitzer, who was driven from office amid a prostitution scandal.

Tomorrow, it'll probably be orgies with the McGreevey's and Elliot Spitzer's famous sperm recepticle. Directed by Charlie Sheen...

Gay ex-gov claims threesome with the little woman
Cheeze. Somebody more crass than Charlie Sheen. Who'da thunkit?
Salacious follow-up from yesterday.
He says yes. She says no. He says yes. Former New Jersey Gov. Jim McGreevey said Monday he and his wife and a male aide engaged in sexual threesomes, contradicting a denial issued hours earlier by his estranged wife.
Tell 'em about the Jolly Green Giant Cream Corn, Jim!
In an e-mail to The Associated Press, the nation's first openly gay governor said published reports by former campaign aide Teddy Pedersen were true.
But the incident with the German shepherd and the circus midget never happened.
In interviews posted online Sunday night by The Star-Ledger of Newark and the New York Post, Pedersen said he had consensual sex with the couple for about two years before McGreevey became governor. He said he had contact only with Dina Matos McGreevey during the trysts, and wasn't sure whether McGreevey was gay.
"He specifically demanded only female carp, but he never actually looked close, if y'know what I mean."

Spitzer's Popsie Dressed as Cheerleader for Charlie Sheen
Hollywood actor Charlie Sheen allegedly hired the same call girl involved in the Eliot Spitzer scandal for a fantasy-themed threesome.
Ohfergawdsake. What's crasser than "crass"?
Pimp Jason Itzler, 41,
Now, there's a resume entry!
claims he sent Ashley Alexander Dupre under the name of Victoria and another girl, Cheryl, to Sheen more than two years ago, the Daily Record reported.
On the other hand, Charlie Sheen, though a model of crassness, wasn't governor of a major state at the time, so it's really his business, isn't it?
He claims Sheen paid $20,000 for a threesome with the girls dressed up as cheerleaders. "Sheen got the girls to dress up as cheerleaders and chant his name while performing sex acts. They loved Charlie. They said he was a great guy. A great lover. One time he had them dressed up like cheerleaders, chanting 'Charlie! Charlie! He's our man. If he can't do it, nobody can!'"
"Boomalakka boomalakka rah rah rah!
Sock it to me, sock it to me!
Sis-boom-bah!"
Rah rah ree!
Kick 'em in the knee!
Rah rah rass!
Kick 'em in the...other knee!

#1  lyrics and tune - Joe Cocker...

She came in through the bathroom window
Protected by a silver spoon
But now she sucks her thumb and wanders
By the banks of her own lagoon

Didn't anybody tell her?
Didn't anybody see?
Sunday's on the phone to Monday,
Tuesday's on the phone to me

She said she'd always been a dancer
She worked at 15 clubs a day
And though she thought I knew the answer
Well I knew what I could not say.

And so I quit the police department
And got myself a steady job
And though she tried her best to help me
She could steal but she could not rob

Didn't anybody tell her?
Didn't anybody see?
Sunday's on the phone to Monday,
Tuesday's on the phone to me
Oh yeah.

#4  Yesterday [but not a lead in], Sir Paul was tagged for 48 million for his time with his squeeze. The kid gets 70K a year above that and support for school and a nanny. Figuring that the union was only four years that's less than Ashely per hour if they did it every hour of all those days. Remember the compensation is for companionship and time only and not for sex. However, if they were somewhat normal human being confining their extra curricula activities to an hour a day, that means he laid out over 32k per hour for the same experience. I'm sure the owners of the Emperors Club are envious. It's the old - Madame, we're just arguing over the price.

My feeling is that there's a certain number of groupies they see over and over again. Look at Bill Clinton. The guy was always pawing at women; he was good-looking and a real charmer. And yet look at the women he actually managed to bed. Guys aren't picky about the women they sleep with (and they tend to be the same women, spread out over many guys). My impression is that most women - other than prostitutes - are picky about the guys they sleep with. This is why you see guys like Hugh Grant getting quickies from low-rent prostitutes in his car. Bottom line - Charlie Sheen may be guilty of a little exaggeration.

Africa Subsaharan
Ghana to deport naked protesters
A group of Liberian women refugees who have held naked protests by the roadside are to be deported from Ghana, a minister has told the BBC. Hundreds of the women were arrested on Monday and taken away from a refugee camp in 10 buses, witnesses say.

They were protesting at plans to send them home with $100 - they demand $1,000 and to be resettled in the West.

Stripping naked is a traditional form of protest amongst poor and powerless women in Africa.

Interior Minister Kwamena Bartels said that the Liberian war had ended. He denied it was forced repatriation. He said they had broken local laws by not informing the police of their protest. "When women strip themselves naked and stand by a major highway, that is not a peaceful demonstration," he told the BBC's Network Africa programme. He said they would be deported later this week.

Britain
British soldier's wife told to leave country
The Brit govt will bring in all kinds of riff-raff and put them and their multiple wives on the dole, but the wife of a soldier from Canada to be granted citizenship? I guess not.
Canadian-born Samantha Crozier, 23, has been given notice by the Home Office to leave the country by April 30, when her temporary visa expires after her application for British citizenship was refused.

Mrs Crozier, who has a British mother, Antoinette, claims their children, Ethan, two, and Celeb, one, will have to be put into care while her husband, Lance Corporal Andrew Crozier, is sent on a tour of duty after he completes training. Mrs Crozier says she has spoken to 15 other Army wives facing deportation.

Mrs Crozier moved to England with her husband, also 23, in October last year. She said MoD officials failed to tell her of the complicated procedure to become a British citizen.

Ethan and Celeb, who were born while her husband was posted to Osnabruck, Germany, were awarded full British citizenship and Mrs Crozier applied for a Status Stamp at the British embassy in Dusseldorf. The stamp allowed her to stay in Germany at the UK base for five years. She was stopped at Newcastle ferry port by Customs and Excise and advised to apply for citizenship. She said she was told that because she her husband was born in Northumberland her application would be successful.

However, Mrs Crozier received a letter last month, the day after her birthday, from the Home Office rejecting her application.

It read: "You have applied for leave to remain in the United Kingdom on the basis of your marriage to Andrew Douglas Crozier.

"However, the immigration rules direct that a person seeking such leave is to be refused if they do not meet the requirements set out in the immigration rules.

"This includes that the applicant has limited leave to remain in the United Kingdom other than where that leave is of six months duration or less. On 30 October 2007 you were granted limited leave to enter as a visitor for a period of six months from 30 October 2007 until 30 April 2008 therefore you do not meet the requirements.

"You are not entitled to appeal this decision."

Mrs Crozier, living in Bordon, near Petersfield, Hants, said: "We rang the MoD to tell them we were coming over and they gave us no advice other then to tell us to have a nice journey.

"I think it is disgraceful. I came here to start a new life with my husband and my two wonderful little boys. My husband is very patriotic and would gladly fight for his country but it seems his country won't fight for him."

A Home Office spokesman said: "Overseas nationals wishing to come to the UK on the basis of marriage should apply for entry clearance from abroad. They will be given leave to enter the UK for two years, after which they can apply for settlement."

Home Front: Politix
File under WTF: Free towing for those "hard working" welfare recipients--
You just can't make this up
The house DFL was concerned about the gas tax increases effect on the poor--so much so that that they offered an amendment on the transportation policy bill that would have given free towing to anyone already on welfare--at taxpayer expense. It got cut from the bill during the conference report stage, when the Senate and House versions are blended together but it still shows you where these guys are going.
Welcome to Minnesota's DFL
During the debate, Rep. Kalin said on the House Floor that "welfare recipients are the real working people of Minnesota, because they are trying to get to the top of the economic heap."
Rep. Marty Seifert disagreed.
Shooting fish in a...
What the amendment really did was waive towing and impoundment fees (above the value of the vehicle) for anyone who could prove that they were merely eligible for the nine programs: Food Stamps (EBT); Emergency Assistance (EA); Minnesota Family Investment Program(MFIP); Diversionary Work Program (DWP); Medical Assistance (MA); General Assistance (GA); General Assistance Medical Care (GAMC); Emergency General Assistance (EGA); Minnesota Supplemental Aid (MSA); MSA-Emergency Assistance (MSA-EA); or Energy Assistance (LI-HEAP).
And alien abducties
Note: When Rep. Seifert said "if you are on some type of public relief program, and you don't scoop your vehicle out and it gets towed, you kind of get treated differently than if you are someone who works," Rep. Kalin shook his head.
Surprisingly it didn't fall off

#1  Actually they may have a point here. For the working poor, a car is often as essential to their livelihood as a house is to the middle class.

Much like laws preventing the seizure of "workman's tools", the idea is that, by waiving a fine, they are keeping them from losing what work they have and needing even more welfare.

This amounts to tax relief for the poor, not having to shell out maybe $300 they don't have, because their car got towed and impounded.

And arguing that the poor should have to pay the same tax as the middle class or wealthy avoids the obvious "getting blood out of a turnip" problem. What is just an annoyance to the middle class can be ruinous to people who are just getting by.

#2  True. Though it might also occur to the working poor who are totally dependent on their vehicles to make a living - unlike middle class people who can always cycle or take a hot air balloon to work - they they might, like, not park their cars illegally.

#4  in GA if you and your spouse make more than $10 an hour combined you can't get welfare. so where do these ppl have too go. hell i can barely afford the neccesities and they wouldn't piss on me if i was on fire but they going too tow the Escalade for free. tell them tyoo walk if they don't have money for gas i have done it plenty of times. goddamn mooches is the problem with this country starting in new orleans and all the other minority based metropolises , or use public transportation.

#5  Cool....so it won't just be the rock stars parking wherever the hell they want.

Now, if they meant that working poor people *upon driving to or from work* got a flat or had a radiator blow or some such and got a free or discounted triple-a type service - I could be more amenable to that. Not free towing for someone too lazy to shovel out their wheels.

#6  "free towing to anyone already on welfare--at taxpayer expense"

If they're on welfare, they're already "at taxpayer expense."

What's that got to do with the working poor?
