Did auto bailout head say 'I did this all for the unions'?
The House Oversight Committee would like to know
Ron Bloom, Assistant to the President for Manufacturing Policy, was quoted in a 2009 newspaper account and a 2010 book saying about the auto bailouts that he "did this all for the unions." Yet when Bloom appeared before the committee on June 22, he denied ever saying those words. Other White House officials have defended Bloom by indicating that he did indeed say those words but was joking. And this has led committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa to ask what is going on.

#1  I don't get it. What difference does it make? Are they just looking for sound bites for 2012?

#2  Does anyone not realize that it was all for the Unions?

Who are these people - I have acres of swampland in Florida I want to sell.

#4  The fact that he said it is bizzare. Of course he meant it, but say it????

#5  He meant to say "I did it so that the workers could control the means of production".

#6  I don't get it. What difference does it make?

Something about "potentially lying under oath"?

GOP says Dayton's 'essential staff' includes chef and housekeeper
A Political Agenda item yesterday noted that Gov. Mark Dayton has laid off about half of his 40-member staff during the state shutdown, while 20 are considered essential and still working.

On the list of those still working are two staff members, Micah Pace and Michelle Mersereau, who were listed as "Residence Support Staff."

This morning, Michael Brodkorb, the communications director for the Minnesota Senate Republican Caucus (and he's also deputy chair of the state Republican Party), called to say that on the governor's official staff list (PDF), Pace is listed as "chef," and Mersereau is listed as "Housekeeper/server."

The list he's citing was printed in March and was obtained through data practices request, and does, indeed, list those job titles for the two.

#1  I hope his "staff" also includes his onsite pharmacist to provide him with a constant stream of "mood altering" drugs.

He can't even put on his shoes half the time, let alone run the state. This is what happens when you let felons vote.
