White House Rejects Idea of Boosting Domestic Oil Production to Lower Gas Prices
[Breitbart] The White House on Sunday rejected the argument that increasing domestic oil production would help lower gas prices, as the cost of oil moves toward record highs.

Crude oil prices rose as high as $130.50 a barrel on Sunday evening.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki released a set of talking points on social media, arguing against a focus on boosting oil production in the United States.

“It’s a reminder that real energy security comes from reducing our dependence on fossil fuels,” Psaki wrote, noting that Russia’s continued invasion of Ukraine was causing a spike in oil prices.

Psaki pushed back against Republicans calling for more domestic oil production.

She argued that domestic oil production was up after the coronavirus pandemic but that the United States was still vulnerable to global oil markets.

President Joe Biden’s administration is exploring diplomatic shifts with oil producing countries including Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, and Iran, as Russia’s latest Ukrainian offensive has disrupted oil markets.

But Psaki argued the only way to truly be free from high gas prices was to stop using oil.

“The only way to protect US over the long term is to become energy independent,” she wrote, pointing to Biden’s efforts on subsidizing wind and solar energy.

#2  This is beyond the paradigm of election political thinking TW, this is transformation destruction of the economy. The motive hints at the identity of the power structure behind thr facade of cartoonish leadership at 1600.

#3  This is the whole idea - drive the price of oil sky-high and punish the American people for using cars. They hate you and wish you harm.

Remember, just get on the bus and all of this goes away. Don't live on a bus route? Move into the city. Bad schools? Your kids deserve to get beaten up because you're evil people.

#4  Note well that the WH and their minions are ignoring what the Ukrainian population is doing. They're taking on the Russian bears (see MIG-29s and nukes to paraphrase someone else). They think after denouncing their military as racist and evil that those people are going to be motivated to take on enough of the population that can shut this whole place down?

#6  Kinda raises the question of Biden and Putin being in cahoots on this. Putin gets Donbass and higher oil prices. Biden gets to look tough and tell everybody how he's standing up to the dictator just before the mid-term elections. Win-win.

#7  This is deliberate and calculated destruction of the American Economy. It has nothing to do with 'Energy Independence' or even 'Green New Deal' this is targeted directly at the Economy.

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee demands Russia release Brittney Griner: 'No right'
[FoxNews] I suggest we send Ms. Stupid Loudmouth McWeave (D-Hoooston) to Russia to "Do you KNOW WHO I AM??" all over the place. Please stream in 4K video
Griner was arrested in Russia last month for alleged possession of cannabis oil
At least she’s not in North Korea. Those people are uncivilized.
Texas Democratic Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee is demanding the release of WNBA star Brittney Griner who was detained by authorities in Russia for allegedly possessing a vape with cannabis oil.

"We know that there were some issues dealing with vape cartridges and other items but let me be very clear," Lee, who represents Griner’s hometown of Houston, Texas, in Congress, said on Saturday. "Brittney Griner is a United States citizen, she was a guest in Russia...and I will be demanding her release."

Lee added that she has spoken with the State Department to "try and get them to focus on her circumstances."
The State Department? They only pay attention to senators, and not much attention even to them. But it’s truly nice that you’re trying, Congresswoman.
"I don’t want to disregard a sovereign nation but Putin has disregarded sovereign nations his entire service in this world," Lee said. "Anyone that is killing and attacking and destroying Ukraine, a neighboring country that is not bothering them, has no right to hold Ms. Griner. Period."

Issues/crimes, toMAYto/toMAHto. I mean, it's not like Russia is a foreign country with its own laws and stuff that you might be expected to obey.

arrested last month after allegedly being caught with a vape cartridge that contained hash oil.

So this happened a month ago and just now suddenly appears on the radar. Hmmm.

#5  Bet the State Department is overwhelmed with its own incompetence without adding this nonsense for Likes.

"We let foreigners come here all the time and kill our citizens while drunk driving, so what's the big deal?"

And yeah, these qualifiers Ukraine, a neighboring country that is not bothering them, crack me up, especially from the ones who don't know their Wednesdays from their Thursdays.

#6  Well, Sheila, you might have trouble with this concept but there are still countries in this world that do not let just anybody bring just anything across their borders. It's called border security. Further, not all countries in this world have legalized marihuchie and some of them take their laws seriously. But, hey, if you try to be nice to that mean old Putin and promise you won't march NATO troops right up to his border he might be willing to make a deal.

Biden gets a bounce after the State of the Union, NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll shows
[NPR] After what's been a bleak several months politically for President Biden, a new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist survey finds he is seeing a significant boost in his approval ratings across the board following his State of the Union address and Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

"This is an unusual bounce," said Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist Institute for Public Opinion, which conducted the poll. "It gets him back to where he was pre-Afghanistan."

Here's a look at some of the numbers:

  • Overall approval rating jumped to 47%, up 8 points from the NPR poll last month. Presidents don't generally see much, if any bounce, out of a State of the Union address. Since 1978, there had only been six times when a president saw an approval rating improve 4 points or more following State of the Union addresses, according to the pollsters. Three of those bounces were for former President Bill Clinton.

  • Ukraine handling is up 18 points to 52%.

  • Coronavirus pandemic handling is now 55%, up 8 points.

  • Economic handling up 8 points to 45%.
I always trust NPR polls.

Any statesman who gave such a stirring speech would see his approval shoot up like a rocket. What else could possibly account for this?

Say what?

#9  The bravery of Ukraine is great but unfortunately, the media will be able to give Biden some of the credit for it.

However, by the summer the Ukraine situation will be stabilized one way or the other and the price of gasoline will be even worse than it is now.

#13  However, by the summer the Ukraine situation will be stabilized one way or the other and the price of gasoline will be even worse than it is now.

The jury is still out on how this little disruption will impact Ukrainian agriculture but, if you have any spare change, you might want to invest in wheat futures. It's what Pelosi would do.

#14  The day after SOTU I wondered on this forum whether or not I should watch the recording of it on my DVR, being as how I did not watch it live. After viewing clips of the address on Tucker and other TV shows I got a good look at Ms. Kackle Toe sitting, standing and applauding at the designated statements that Joe made. These clips allowed me to make my decision which was that I could not bear to watch the entire SOTU because that woman is so damned repulsive. Somebody must have warned her about the cackling because she looked mean and threatening...sinister, like some gangster's broad. But it didn't matter. Blithering idiot Biden is bad enough but I cannot stand looking at that woman. I deleted the recording without watching it.

#19  Then blame Big Oil's record profits like what the UK did. IIUC they imposed price controls, turned on subsidies to drop the (up front) price to consumer, then added Green Energy fees up to the point where the price was still lower, and better, but some 20-25% more than it could be. What a deal!
