#2  Hitchcock 'Hitch' followed the advice of French playwright Victorien Sardou, to 'torture the women!' according to the director's own admission, Ackroyd writes.

While he adored Grace Kelly's personal combination of frigidity and lust, he still couldn't resist the violence in the film Dial M for Murder's assault scene on her by a gangster that took five days to film leaving her covered with bruises.

Hitch believed he saved Grace from being eternally cast as a cold woman.

'She's a volcano covered with snow', he stated. The audience didn't know she wasn't as brittle as she appeared until she worked with Hitch - so he believed.

She shared with him the fund of dirty jokes she had collected at a Catholic convent school.

Dozens of Palestinian Migrants Rescued off Libyan Coast
[LIBYAREVIEW] On Thursday, the Paleostinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that at least 26 Paleostinian nationals aboard two boats, were rescued off the Libyan coasts.

In a statement, the political advisor to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dr. Ahmed al-Deek said that the Paleostinian Embassy in Libya is following up on the rescue operations of the two boats. The first of which was off the coast of the city of Sabratha, west of Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, with six nationals who are now in the illegal immigration center in western Libya.

He added that the second boat was rescued off the coast of Misrata, with 16 Paleostinians, including four women. All of whom were sent to an immigration center near Misrata.

He stressed that the Paleostinian Embassy in Greece is also following up on the reports over the rescue of two other boats carrying migrants colonists off the coast of the island of Kos. He added that four Paleostinians were also rescued, and are currently in detention centers.

Many migrants colonists choose to cross the Mediterranean sea to European shores from Libya, despite the state of chaos and insecurity plaguing the country. These migrants colonists are often sent to overcrowded reception centers across Libya, despite repeated international calls to close such facilities.

Libya has been suffering insecurity and chaos since the fall of Muammar Qadaffy
...Proof that a madman with money will be politely received for at least 42 years until his people get tired of him and kill him...
in 2011. This has made it the preferred point of departure for migrants colonists who want to cross European shores.

Arabia
New armed clashes break out between Saudi-backed and UAE-backed mercenaries in Taiz
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Armed confrontations renewed Thursday between the Saudi-backed Islah factions and UAE-backed militias, in the center of Taiz governorate, southern Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
Sources confirmed that the festivities broke out between members belonging to the governor of the UAE-backed and the leader of the Congress Party, Nabil Shamsan, and the button men of the leader of the Islah Party, Ghazwan al-Mikhlafi, in the city center.

The sources pointed out that the festivities resulted in the injury of four button men, indicating that the confrontations are continuing between the two parties, amid a state of fear and terror among the residents of the city.

This came, after festivities broke out between the two parties during the early hours of Thursday, following a surprise attack by al-Mikhlafi’s button men targeting a new security checkpoint for Shamsan groups, which resulted in injuries and the destruction of a military vehicle in the al-Rawdah neighborhood, and the confrontations extended to the Zaid al-Mushki neighborhood.

The return of the festivities comes in the context of arrangements made by the UAE to impose its control over the Saudi-backed camps in the countryside of Taiz.

Fifth Column
Leftist Domestic Terrorist Skates After DOJ Intervenes
[Washington Free Beacon] Urooj Rahman,
...the pouty, connected Pakistani-American who trained with Hamas before studying human rights law at Fordham. Her self-proclaimed best friend, successful Washington, DC lawyer Salmah Rizvi, previously worked for President Obama as an intelligence analyst....
a public interest lawyer who firebombed a police cruiser during the 2020 George Floyd riots, was sentenced to just 15 months in prison on Friday after the Biden Justice Department intervened on her behalf, pressing the court to issue a sentence below the guidelines that called for 10 years.

U.S. District Judge Brian Cogan of the Eastern District of New York handed down the sentence to a packed courtroom in Brooklyn, where Rahman’s allies gathered in solidarity. Rahman, who faced up to five years in prison, told supporters the sentence "wasn’t the result we wanted." Her attorney, Peter Baldwin, said Rahman’s defense team was "obviously disappointed with the result, but we are excited that Urooj can move on to the next phase of her life."

Rahman and her accomplice, Colinford Mattis,
...African-American, Princeton grad, NYU Law, former corporate law associate at some fancy New York City law firm, who along with his sister is the primary caregiver for their dead mother’s three foster children — the things ya gotta do in Brooklyn to keep the family’s rent controlled apartment!
leveraged their connections to top universities, white-shoe law firms, and the Obama administration, to win sympathy from liberal elites. They were the subjects of glowing profiles in national media during their prosecution, and struck a sweetheart deal with the Biden Justice Department, which, in a rare move, intervened to ask the court to go easy on them after the Trump administration had pressed for an aggressive prosecution.
So it's Trump's fault, for being so mean!
The Justice Department declined to comment.

The pair pleaded guilty in June, which qualified them for automatic disbarment. New York officially disbarred them on Tuesday.

The Grand Turk
HRW Says Turkey is Pushing Back Afghans at Iran Border
[ToloNews] Human Rights Watch said in a report that The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
is routinely pushing back tens of thousands of Afghans at its land border with Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites....
or deporting them directly to Afghanistan with little or no examination of their claims for international protection.

"Human Rights Watch also found that Afghans inside Turkey are being blocked from registering for international protection and that Afghans facing imminent deportation are often given no opportunity to make refugee claims," HRW’s report reads.

According to the report, Turkey deported 44,768 Afghans by air to Kabul in the first eight months of 2022, a 150 percent increase over the first eight months of 2021.

The 73-page report, "’No One Asked Me Why I Left Afghanistan,’" said that Turkey has stepped up pushbacks and deportations to Afghanistan since the Islamic Emirate took control in Afghanistan in August 2021.

Meanwhile,
...back at the barn, Bossy was furiously chewing her cud and thinking...
some Afghans who have recently been deported from Turkey spoke of the bad behavior of the Ottoman Turkish police during their return to the country.

"They treated us really badly, they beat us, they beat us in a way that we have never faced in our life," said Ehsanullah, a deported Afghan from Turkey.

"We said that we had come to work and because of the troubles we had, we came to Turkey for employment. We didn't want to be deported, we didn't accept deportation," said another deported Afghan from Turkey.

According to some experts in international relations, the deportation of Afghan refugees from other nations including Turkey, Pakistain, and Iran constitutes a violation of the conventions and laws governing refugee affairs.

"Forcible deportation of Afghan immigrants colonists from Turkey, Iran, and Pakistain is a clear violation of international laws and agreements in the affairs of refugees and might significantly endanger these Afghans' lives and dignity," said Nasir Ahmad Tareki, an expert in international relations.

Earlier, the Ministry of Refugee and Repatriations said that Turkey has promised not to deport Afghan refugees, and, for this purpose a joint commission between Kabul and Ankara has been established to solve the problem of refugees.

Palestinian teen arrested with knife near Hebron; shots fired at Tulkarem checkpoint
[IsraelTimes] Incident in Kiryat Arba comes as thousands of Jewish pilgrims arrive to spend Shabbat in biblically resonant West Bank city

A Paleostinian teenager was arrested with a knife near the West Bank city of Hebron on Friday morning as thousands of Jewish Israelis arrived to spend the weekend for an annual pilgrimage tradition.

The Israel Defense Forces said the 14-year-old was spotted by troops and a civilian guard who were conducting a routine patrol at an intersection that connects the Route 60 highway to the entrance of the settlement of Kiryat Arba.

The forces frisked the teen and found a knife, the IDF said.

The army added that "no stabbing attack was carried out and the young Paleostinian was arrested without a shot being fired."

Surveillance camera footage (below) showed the moment the teen was arrested.

The incident came as thousands of Jewish Israelis are to spend Shabbat in Hebron, west of Kiryat Arba, and visit the Tomb of the Patriarchs. Hebron, uniquely, is under shared Israeli-Paleostinian control, with the Paleostinian Authority responsible for some 80% of the city, and Israel the other 20%, where hundreds of Jewish settlers live in several enclaves.

Massive crowds are expected to mark the yearly Torah reading of the biblical Abraham’s purchase of the Hebron site to bury his wife, the matriarch Sarah.

In a separate incident early Friday, the IDF said Paleostinian button men shot up a checkpoint near the West Bank city of Tulkarem.

The army said no soldiers were hurt in the attack on the checkpoint and that several shell casings were found during searches of the area.

In overnight raids across the West Bank, three wanted suspects were arrested and a handgun was seized, the IDF said.

Rockets target US-led coalition base in Syria
More on this story from yesterday.
[Rudaw] The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Thursday that rockets targeted a military base housing US-led coalition troops in Syria’s eastern province of Deir ez-Zor without causing casualties.

"On the evening of Nov. 17, 2022, at approximately 9:32pm local time in Syria, rockets targeted coalition forces at the Green Village base in northeast Syria," CENTCOM said, adding that the attack resulted in no casualties or material damages.

The Green Village military installation is located in Deir ez-Zor province in eastern Syria, within areas controlled by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) north of the Euphrates River.

"Attacks of this kind place coalition forces and the civilian populace at risk and undermine the hard-earned stability and security of Syria and the region," CENTCOM spokesperson Joe Buccino stated.

There have been at least 21 rocket and drone attacks against sites housing American troops in Iraq and Syria this year, according to data compiled by Rudaw English. Suck attacks are often attributed to Iran-backed militias and factions, but have never been claimed.

Earlier in November, at least 15 pro-Iran
...Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979...
fighters were killed in Deir ez-Zor on a strike targeting their convoy along the Iraqi-Syrian border, but the US denied any involvement in the strike.

CENTCOM in August announced the killing of four suspected Iran-backed bully boyz in northeast Syria in response to an attack a day prior that targeted US facilities, including the Green Village military base.
An Nahar adds:
The U.S.-led anti-jihadist coalition maintains bases in areas controlled by Syria's Kurdish forces, including at Al-Omar, the country's largest oil field.

"Rockets targeted coalition forces" at the Green Village base at Al-Omar, which is close to the Iraqi border, the U.S. Central Command said in a statement.

"U.S. forces in northeastern Syria are investigating the incident," it added.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported "four rockets were fired from a pro-Iranian militia base in the Mayadine region," close to the coalition forces.

"Both parties put their forces on alert" after the attack, added the Observatory.

Pro-Iranian militia hold significant influence in Syria's border area with Iraq, an important crossing point for weapons, fighters and goods.

On November 9, a convoy of weapons and fuel destined for pro-Iranian militias in Syria was targeted in an airstrike near the Iraqi border, killing at least 14 people according to the Observatory. The U.S. and its coalition allies denied carrying out the attack, while Israel, which regularly conducts operations against Syrian and pro-Iranian forces in the country, declined to comment.

Four Syrian Soldiers Killed and one other wounded in an Israeli attack
[TWITTER]

Airstrikes hit central and coastal regions of Syria early Saturday, killing four soldiers and wounding one, the Syrian military said, blaming Israel for the strikes.

State media quoted an unidentified Syrian military official as saying that Israeli warplanes flying over the Mediterranean fired missiles toward military positions in coastal and central Syria.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an opposition war monitor, reported that loud explosions were heard in the coastal province of Latakia as well as Hama and Homs regions in central Syria. It gave no further details.

On Nov. 13, a strike also blamed on Israel in central Syria targeting the Shayrat air base killed two soldiers and maimed three.

There was no comment from the Israel Defense Forces, in line with its policy of not generally commenting on air raids in the country.
Update from Rudaw at 9:40 p.m. ET:
“At 6:30 Saturday morning, the Israeli enemy carried out an aggression over the Mediterranean from the direction of Baniyas, targeting some points in the central and coastal regions as the Syrian air defenses intercepted the missile aggression," SANA cited a military source as saying.

The strike resulted in the deaths of four Syrian regime soldiers and the wounding of another, while also inflicting significant material damages, according to SANA.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the strikes targeted Iranian-backed militias in Homs, Hama, and Latakia provinces, adding that "weapons and ammunition of Iranian-backed militias" were destroyed by the Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s.

Another Israeli strike on Sunday killed two Syrian army soldiers and maimed three others in the central Homs province, Syrian media reported at the time.
From An Nahar, one detail:
Israel also targeted a Syrian air defense battery in Latakia province, it added.

Iran protesters say set fire to Khomeini's home
[Reuters] The ongoing mass protests against Iran's government and religious establishment, are now said to have torched the home of the Islamic Republic's founding father.

That's according to activists. Videos like this one widely shared on social media Thursday (November 17) show fire outside the home of the late Ayatollah Khomenei, who swept to power as the country's first Supreme Leader after the 1979 revolution.

The protests were sparked by the death of a woman in police custody in September after she allegedly flouted its dress code.

Reuters cannot verify when it filmed, but was able to match the location. The building had been turned into a museum.

Separate social media video the same day shows protests, flames, and explosions elsewhere in the country.

A semi-official media outlet in Iran, Tasnim news agency, called the reports that Khomenei's home was set on fire "a lie," said a small number of people had gathered there, and that its doors were open to the public.
