Yet another Kamala Harris aide has joined the exodus of staffers leaving the vice president’s office amid claims of turmoil and dysfunction.
Vincent Evans, the veep’s deputy director of public engagement and intergovernmental affairs, has quit to take on a role on Capitol Hill, CNBC reported Wednesday.
Evans is departing the VP’s office to join the Congressional Black Caucus, which is chaired by Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-Ohio) and advocates for minorities.
He is the latest Harris staffer to resign amid claims of tension in her office — including one blistering report last month that described her as a "bully" who dishes out "soul-destroying criticism."
But despite those reports, a source close to Evans told CNBC he was still on good terms with Harris and claimed the resignation wasn’t linked to previous departures.
"I am deeply honored to be named the executive director of the Congressional Black Caucus," Evans said in a statement to the network. "I started my career in Washington working for a member of the CBC, so I know firsthand the tremendous leadership and impact this caucus has in Congress and across the country."

[Breitbart] White House press secretary Jen Psaki praised President Joe Biden’s first-year gun control efforts even though 12 cities, all Democrat-run, broke annual homicide records during Biden’s first year as well.
Psaki tweeted: “In 2021, President Biden took more executive action to stop gun violence than any President has ever taken in their first year.”
She also mentioned Biden’s latest gun control, an executive action by the DOJ that requires Federal Firearms License holders (FFLs) to “certify that they have available secure gun storage or safety devices.”
Psaki did not mention that 12 Democrat-run cities broke their annual homicide records in 2021.

[Breitbart] Growth in U.S. manufacturing in December was weaker than expected, slouching to its slowest pace since January of 2020, a survey of manufacturing executives indicated Tuesday.
The Institute for Supply Management said that its index of manufacturing activity fell to a reading of 58.7 in December, below the consensus forecast of 60.5 and 2.4 percentage points lower than the November reading.
The index is assembled from questionnaires sent out to purchasing managers at manufacturing businesses, giving rise to its name as the Purchasing Managers Index, or PMI. It is regarded as a reliable predictor of government reports on the economy, which frequently come out months later.
December’s reading was the worst since January 2021, when the index also read 58.7.
Both new orders and production were lower in December, although the greatest source of the slowdown is supply chain constraints.
“The U.S. manufacturing sector remains in a demand-driven, supply chain-constrained environment, with indications of improvements in labor resources and supplier delivery performance. Shortages of critical lowest-tier materials, high commodity prices and difficulties in transporting products continue to plague reliable consumption,” said ISM’s Timothy R. Fiore.
Supplier deliveries slowed further in December and customer inventories were still at levels considered too low. The prices paid by manufacturers for materials and components continued to rise, indicating ongoing supplier pricing power, but the pace of growth slowed in December.

[WIRE] President Joe Biden on Monday once again used his fake Oval Office for a televised speech, this time using a green screen behind his desk to show a snowy wonderland that mirrored what was happening in Washington, D.C.
Biden has used the phony office — located across a parking lot in the Eisenhower Office Building (formerly the Old Executive Office Building and before that known as the State, War, and Navy Building) — in the past, but as before, its use drew questions.
Tim Murtaugh, the former communications director for President Donald Trump, took to Twitter to ponder why he uses it.
"Has there been an explanation for why they built a fake White House set for Biden across the street from the real White House? The other day there were shipping containers outside the window. Today it’s a winter wonderland. Just bizarre and phony," he wrote.

[Townhall] Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey (R) announced Tuesday families could receive $7,000 as part of the launch of a new program designed to help families struggling with "educational barriers" as a result of school closures.
Funds received through the Open for Learning Recovery Benefit program would be used for childcare, transportation, tutoring and school tuition needs approved by the Arizona Department of Economic Security.
And families who meet certain income requirements could also use the money to send their children to another school if their school closes for even one day.
"In Arizona, we’re going to ensure continued access to in-person learning," Ducey said in a press release. "Everyone agrees that schools should stay open and kids need to be in the classroom. With this announcement, we are making sure parents and families have options if a school closes its doors. Parents are best suited to make decisions about their child’s education."
"In-person learning is vital for the development, well-being and educational needs of K-12 students," he continued. "We will continue to work with families, public health experts and school leaders to ensure our kids can stay in the classroom and parents have a choice — always."

Historical trends show the party in power in the White House loses seats in Congress in midterm elections, and President Biden's sagging approval ratings have raised alarm bells for his party. Also, the ongoing redistricting process will change congressional maps next fall. Republicans, who only need to flip five seats to gain control of the House, have an edge in that process.

The 49-year-old stands accused of having allowed her son to fight for gangs, including IS, from the age of 12 to 15.
"The woman is being charged for having made possible that he be recruited and used as a child soldier" from August 2013 to May 2016, it said in a statement.
During that time, he allegedly took part "in hostilities performed by gangs, including the terrorist organization IS".
The boy then died in 2017, it added, without elaborating on the cause of his death.
"This is the first time charges are being brought in Sweden for the war crime of using a child soldier," the prosecution authority said.

[SHAFAQ] Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) targeted sites affiliated with Iranian-backed military groups in al-Ashara desert (Badiya) in Deir Ezzor's eastern countryside, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Tuesday.
The war watchdog said that loud explosions were heard from the vicinity of Mazar Ain Ali farms near the village of al-Qurya in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. The territory is known to be a stronghold of Iranian-backed paramilitary groups in the western Euphrates area.
The attack was carried out by UAVs that belong to an unidentified party, and the Global Coalition warplanes are roaming the airspace of the area, SOHR added.

Foreign ministry of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan denied armed engagement between the Taliban and Turkmenistan border guards in northern Jawzjan province.
Spokesperson of the ministry Abdul Qahar Balkhi in a series of twitter posts said that rumors about skirmishes between the two countries’ border police are untrue.
"There is no issue between Afghanistan and our neighbor nations Turkmenistan and we want positive relations with all countries." Reads a Twitter post.
Balkhi in the Tweet said that the IEA is seeking positive relations with all countries including Turkmenistan through diplomatic means.
In the meantime, the spokesperson said that recent conflict between Afghan and Pakistani border guards in different provinces is an issue that needs to be negotiated upon.
He added that diplomatic means for resolving the issue with Pakistan will soon be undertaken.
It comes a day after Pakistan’s foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that they want to resolve recent conflicts with the Taliban through diplomatic means.
Border guards the Taliban recently destroyed Pakistan’s barbed wire on Durand Line in three provinces.

Gunmen suspected to be bandidos have attacked Sabon Birnin Birnin village in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State leaving dead seven members of the same family.
Meanwhile, ...back at the cheese factory, all the pieces finally fell together in Fluffy's mind... some residents said the incident occurred on Monday night when the bandidos in their large numbers invaded the community and started shooting sporadically, killing the family members in the process.
Police authorities are, however, yet to respond to the incident.
The incident has, however, caused a mass exodus of residents from the area due to fear of being attacked or killed by marauding bandidos, a community leader, Bello Musa, said.
He, however, appealed to the Federal Government to deploy more troops to Igabi and other troubled zones in Kaduna State in order to protect the people from further attacks.
The button men carried a similar attack on 13 other villages in Kerawa ward in the Igabi local government area, killing no fewer than 17 people.
According to a resident of the community, the attacks were carried out simultaneously in the villages.
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Kenyan police said Tuesday they had made four arrests following a brutal attack in a coastal region bordering Somalia that left six people dead and homes in ashes.
One man was beheaded and five were shot or burned to death in the assault on a village in Lamu County which began late Sunday.
The Lamu region has suffered violent mostly peaceful incursions by al-Shabaab ...... Somalia's version of the Taliban ...Arabic for students... , functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda... and local authorities initially suspected the Somalia-based Death Eaters were behind the attack, though did not rule out other motives.

Police said the assailants in the earlier attack stabbed and beheaded a local elder and razed his home, and rubbed out another man whose body was found on a roadside nearby.
The corpses of four other men burned beyond recognition were found with their hands bound in another location, according to a police report seen by AFP.
Several houses were also found torched and bullet casings recovered, the report said.
Lamu, which includes the popular tourist beach destination of Lamu Island, lies close to the Somali frontier and al-Shabaab has staged cross-border attacks in the coastal region.

A Security Source in Nineveh reported that a terrorist attack targeted one of al-Hashd al-Shaabi's security points, northeast of the governorate.
The source told Shafaq News agency that a PMF member was killed, noting that the PMF forces clashed with the gunnies who fled later to an unknown destination.

Don’t Look Up is a half-hour too long and never all that funny. It’s also not terribly deep — nothing close to a Network (1976) or Dr. Strangelove (1964). You’re basically watching a series of skits.
With a couple of dumb, over-indulgent post-credit scenes, McKay also steps all over what would have been a perfect ending. We really did have it all.
This is true. Still, there were many times I thought dang, how did they get away with making this? There were some yokel moments thrown in as what looked more like foils but for the most part brutal. If it was supposed to be a Trump hit piece, it earns the coveted Paul Verhoeven Award.

About women and former officers in the Taliban’s army, Mujahid acknowledged that women will be recruited based on need, and specialists of the previous Afghan army will also be given a part in the future army.
Earlier, the defense ministry of IEA had said that they are working on building a 100,000-member army that will be fully equipped.
The IEA had reportedly deployed suicide attackers to Afghanistan’s northern border with Tajikistan but the news has not been confirmed officially.
Suicide attackers had been one of the most successful techniques of the Taliban in the past two decades both against Americans and Afghan security forces.

In response to a question about the international community’s demand for the formation of an inclusive government, Baradar said the US had given names of some former government officials to the Islamic Emirate during the Doha talks to fulfill this demand.
Baradar accused the former government officials of "being corrupt" emphasizing that even including a few of them will harm the integrity of the Islamic Emirate.
"These people cannot be with us in the government, because even if they are five (even if only five people are included), they will harm our government's standing and we don’t want our government to be brought down by such people," he said.
In the meantime, Baradar said that the Islamic Emirate has fulfilled the pre-conditions for recognition and that the world should recognize it formally.
"The Islamic Emirate has fulfilled the requirements for the recognition, and the world should have recognized it," he said.
Baradar emphasized that if the world does not recognize the Islamic Emirate, the country will face an economic crisis that will not only affect Afghanistan but will also have negative consequences for the neighboring countries and the world.
Responding to question about girls’ education and the reopening of universities, Baradar said it is the right of everyone to have access to education. He said that economic problems and moral issues are two issues ahead of the reopening of the universities.
"The education sector needs a strong economy, when economic challenges are resolved we will provide educational facilities for all those who want to purse their studies," he said.
He also dismissed claims by the former president Ashraf Ghani that he --Ghani--would have been killed if he had not left Kabul.

The United States military on Monday reportedly shot down two armed drones heading towards a facility housing American advisers at the exact airport where drones killed Iranian General, Qassemi Soleimani, two years ago following Donald Trump ...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US... This is the second attack on the coalition in 24 hours. Photographs of more than 100 prominent Indian Moslem women, including journalists, activists, film stars and artists, were displayed last weekend without their permission on a website and put up for fake auction. The women listed on the website also included a 65-year-old mother of a disappeared Indian student and Pak Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai ...a Pashtun blogger and advocate for girls' education from Mingora, in Swat. She is esteemed as an ambassador of international good will, even though she can't go home lest some fellow in a turban shoots her in the head again... The website, which was taken down within 24 hours, was called "Bulli Bai," a derogatory slang for Indian Moslems.
