‘Safe streets worker’ (replacing police) gunned down in Baltimore
[Hot Air] During the course of the madness that promoted "defunding" or abolishing the police, there was an emphasis placed on replacing police in some circumstances with "community safety" workers who would supposedly act as unarmed "violence interrupters" and reduce the number of lethal use of force incidents by police officers. In Baltimore, Maryland’s violent gang territories, an existing organization known as the "Safe Streets Program" gained a lot of attention and municipal support in this effort. The goal of the program is to deploy former gang members (or "former") into areas controlled by the gangs to negotiate nonviolent resolutions to conflicts. Unfortunately, as we’ve seen with other proposed "violence interruption" programs in major cities, sending someone with a clipboard out to resolve a beef between gang members isn’t always effective. That was sadly this case this week when one of Baltimore’s Safe Streets workers was shot to death along with several other people on the East side of Charm City. (Baltimore Sun)

A quadruple shooting in East Baltimore on Wednesday night left three people dead, including a Safe Streets worker, and one person injured, police said. Three others were injured in separate shootings in West and South Baltimore.

At about 7:25 p.m., Eastern District patrol officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 2400 block of E. Monument St. Once there, officers located four men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

A 28-year-old man was pronounced dead on the scene. Medics transported three other victims to area hospitals, where a 24-year-old man and another man were also pronounced dead.

Just to be clear, I am not an opponent of the Safe Streets Program and this murder was particularly appalling, even in a city where murders are literally a daily occurrence. Tragically, the murder rate in Baltimore is still higher than what you see in Kabul, Afghanistan during any given week. If they can find people who are able and willing to go out there and talk some of the gang bangers back off the edge instead of settling their beef with illegal firearms, God bless them. They need to be willing to try anything at this point.

And it’s not as if the program has been wholly ineffective. In the specific neighborhoods that Safe Streets focuses on, there have been some measurable (if not drastic) reductions in shootings and homicides at times. Last summer, the Cherry Hill neighborhood was able to celebrate a solid year without a single gun death on the streets, though that winning streak sadly ended a short time later.

But this killing also underscores the fact that violent crime, particularly when we’re talking about gang violence, sometimes requires a legal, violent response. The Baltimore Police have been cut down in numbers and in a type of retreat ever since the Freddie Gray riots. The city’s government has spent more time trying to prosecute its own cops than the gangs that have largely retaken control of the streets in many parts of Baltimore. When law enforcement is viewed as being weakened or ineffectual, the gangs move in to fill the power vacuum.

Further, while I applaud the efforts of the Safe Streets Program, it also serves as an unpleasant reminder of the bizarre nature of the crime problem in Baltimore and how the city government chooses to address it. We’re at the point where a municipally-endorsed program is actually negotiating with the gangs in an effort to convince them to stop killing people right and left. This is an absolutely dystopian situation. Lawful citizens expect the government to keep them safe and law enforcement is supposed to not only deter, but investigate violent crime and bring suspects in for prosecution. When did we reach the point where the government has to send out negotiators to try to convince them to behave like decent human beings rather than murderous animals?

The new Mayor and the new City Council President have now been in office for more than a year. (Though the City Council President is probably a bit distracted at the moment by the legal problems he and his wife are caught up in.) Both of them, like most of their predecessors over the past couple of decades, ran for office on a promise to get the gang violence under control and reduce the rate of bloodshed. The people of the city need to hold them accountable and demand their right to step out of their homes without the constant threat of being immediately gunned down. And if these people can’t get the job done, replace them with someone who can.

NYPD cop killed, second officer clings to life after shooting in Harlem apartment
[NY Post] An NYPD rookie cop was shot dead and another officer left clinging to life after being ambushed "suddenly, without warning" during a domestic disturbance call involving a mother and son Friday evening in Harlem, authorities said.

The slain officer, Jason Rivera, was just 22 and started on the job in 2020, police said. The gravely injured cop, 27-year-old Wilbert Mora, joined the force in 2018.

"It’s bad," a police source said of Mora’s condition. One of the two officers was struck in the face, sources said.

Rookie NYPD officer Jason Rivera was fatally shot in Harlem on Jan. 21, 2022.

The officers were among four cops shot in the line of duty just this week.

"This is an attack on the city of New York," Mayor Eric Adams said of the violence, speaking at a press briefing at Harlem Hospital where the extremely critical cop was being treated.

"It is time for us to save our city," the mayor said. "No one will divide this city with their violence."
Lashawn McNeil was identified as the gunman who allegedly fired at the NYPD officers.

Authorities said the officers, along with a third cop, went to an apartment at 119 West 135th Street at around 6:15 p.m. after getting a call from a mother about needing help with her son, identified as 47-year-old Lashawn McNeil.

The woman "mentioned no injuries and no weapons," said NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig.

After speaking to the mom, two of the officers walked to the back of the apartment, down a narrow hallway toward a back bedroom.

That’s when McNeil swung the door open and fired, striking both officers, Essig said.

"He suddenly, without warning, opened fire on them," shaken NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell told reporters.

When McNeil tried to flee, the third officer opened fire, striking him in the head and arm, police said. He was undergoing surgery late Friday.

Recovered at the scene was a Glock .45 with high-capacity magazine that holds up to 40 additional rounds. It had been reported stolen in Baltimore, said Essig.

Audio recordings of police radio calls captured cops frantically calling for a transport for the injured officers from the scene.

Welcome to Atlanta - Stray bullet kills visiting English astrophysicist
BROOKHAVEN, Ga. (AP) — A stray bullet struck and killed an English astrophysicist while he was inside an Atlanta-area apartment, authorities say.

Matthew Willson, 31, of Chertsey, Surrey, England, was visiting his girlfriend in the United States when he was hit by a bullet that pierced the wall of the apartment. The shooting happened early Sunday morning, only three days into his visit.

"He was supposed to be here for three months because we’ve been long distance for a while," Katherine Shepard, his girlfriend of three years, told WSB-TV. "I picked him up from the airport, took him to his favorite eating location, and the next day, he’s gone."

Shepard, whose apartment is in the Atlanta suburb of Brookhaven, who told the television station that the couple woke up on Jan. 16 to the sound of more than 30 gunshots coming from an apartment complex directly behind Shepard’s. A bullet traveled through Shepard’s wall, hitting Willson, she said.

#3  Back in the day, when I still lived up there, a guy in eastern PeeAye was jailed after a round from his 7mm Rem Mag killed someone inside a home. It was determined that the rifle in question should not have been used in a populated area. Which was the correct call. It's a high-performance long-range round that's just out of place in a built-up area. A pistol round at 800 ft, through brush and the wall of a dwelling? That's very, very bad luck for the guy who got killed. But it's still a crime.

Why the Loss of Donors for Kyrsten Sinema is So Ironic
[Townhall] On Wednesday night, Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) stuck to her principles. Along with Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and all 50 Republicans, she voted against changing Senate rules on the filibuster. She had previously spoken on the Senate floor in favor of keeping the filibuster. It's also a position she's been known to hold. It's nothing new from her, and yet there have still been new updates and reactions to Sinema supporting the filibuster. Namely, groups such as NARAL and EMILY's List have announced they are pulling support for the senator.

NARAL has tweeted about the right to vote, including a pinned tweet from Tuesday.

#4  They did exactly what the senate was designed to do: prevent big states from steamrolling small states. But now, that's not "democracy." Well, no, it isn't. It's a well-designed representative republic working as it should.

It's the GOPe that has let the left frame the definition of "bipartisanship" to mean "give the left whatever it wants, always."
Posted by: M. Murcek || 01/22/2022 11:20 Comments || Top||

#5  I listened to the Senator's speech in which she flatly declared she would vote against ending the filibuster. I applaud that and I know it took great courage. But in the same speech she said she supported the proposed legislation to enact the federal takeover of elections that could not pass with the filibuster. So I have mixed feelings about this. I guess I still think it would be better if Arizona sent a solid Republican to the Senate.

#6  She definitely surprised me with this stance. It still can't be ruled out that there's mischief afoot. She's really no different than Tulsi Gabbard, being touted as the "sane democrat." She still wants to abolish the second Amendment, so there's essentially nothing she can bring to balance that out, AFAIAK. Same with Noem, riding the fence when she isn't riding her horse. Or Haley, who will assume any position within the organization to remain on board.

U.S. Attorney Rachael Rollins, the top federal prosecutor in Massachusetts, said the move was "in the interests of justice" and was the result of new information the government had received about the allegations.

"After a careful assessment of this new information in the context of all the evidence, our office has concluded that we can no longer meet our burden of proof at trial," Rollins said. "As prosecutors, we have an obligation in every matter we pursue to continually examine the facts while being open to receiving and uncovering new information."

The outcome, which had been expected and had been earlier recommended by prosecutors in Boston, is a further setback to the Justice Department’s pursuit of academics in the U.S. accused of concealing research relationships with China.

The move comes as the department completes a review of the China Initiative, an effort it launched during the Trump administration to crack down on Chinese economic espionage and trade secret theft but one critics say has unduly targeted researchers based on ethnicity.

Chen was accused last year of concealing ties to Beijing while also collecting U.S. dollars for his nanotechnology research. Prosecutors accused him at the time of entering into undisclosed contracts and appointments with Chinese entities, including acting as an "overseas expert" for the Chinese government at the request of the People’s Republic of China Consulate Office in New York.

Klintonite Ron Klain under scrutiny as Biden struggles
[NBSea] WASHINGTON — It’s a familiar Washington tale: As a president’s agenda stalls and his popularity dims, the search for a scapegoat often leads to his chief of staff. And as President Joe Biden looks for a reset at the start of his second year in office, the spotlight on White House chief of staff Ron Klain is especially bright.

From inside the administration, some officials express concern that Klain "micromanages" the West Wing and gives outsize credence to cable news and social media. Some former colleagues and longtime Biden allies fret that advice they used to offer Biden directly isn’t getting through. And on Capitol Hill, Klain has been a favorite target for Democrats, and especially Republicans, who say Biden has drifted too far to the left.

Haitian judge in charge of Moise murder investigation quits
[JPost] The Haitian judge overseeing the investigation into the July assassination of President Jovenel Moise said in a letter on Friday he had withdrawn from the case, deepening the disarray in an ongoing probe of the brazen crime.

Garry Orelien was assigned in August as the investigative judge in the case. His mandate ended in December, and he said his request for an extension was rejected.

Orelien said he relinquished the probe "around the facts of the assassination of the President of the Republic Jovenel Moise, this for personal reasons," according to a copy of the letter seen by Reuters. Orelien confirmed in a telephone interview he wrote the letter and declined further comment.

His probe did not result in charges against any of the dozens of suspects arrested by Haitian police. Orelien in an interview this week blamed the lack of progress on inadequate support from other Haitian institutions.

Moise was killed on July 7 when gunmen stormed his home. A Haitian police report in August concluded that a little-known Haitian-American doctor hired a group of former Colombian soldiers to kill the president and seize power.

The next steps in the Haitian probe were not clear. But the United States has taken a growing role in investigating the crime.

Bernard Saint-Vil, head of the Port-au-Prince tribunal who assigned Orelien to the investigation, on Tuesday said in an interview with a local radio station that Orelien was off the job because he did not complete his investigation on time.

Orelien had initially insisted he would remain on the case. Saint-Vil did not respond to requests for comment.

Moise's killing further undermined Haiti's precarious political and security situation, emboldening gangs to expand territory and escalate kidnappings - including the two-month abduction of a group of Canadian and American missionaries.

Troops Nab Notorious Gang Behind Attack, Kidnapping In Plateau
This seems a tad overexcited.
[SaharaReporters] Troops of the Special Task Force, Operation Safe Haven, have apprehended three notorious kidnappers in Jos, Plateau State.

Media officer of the task force, Maj Ishaku Takwa, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

He said the criminal gang, which had been on the watchlist of the military, was believed to be behind all recent kidnapping activities in Jos and environs.

He also revealed that the gang, suspected to criminal mastermind the attack on the Jos Custodial Centre, was neutralised around Gyero, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau.

SaharaReporters reported that button men attacked the custodial centre in December, killing personnel of the Nigerian Correctional Service and nine inmates and set about 252 inmates free.

The statement reads, "Troops of OPSH, acting on credible intelligence, have neutralised a notorious gang of kidnap syndicate on the plateau.

"The syndicate has been on the watchlist of OPSH and believed to have criminal masterminded the recent kidnapping incidences in the state, and participated in the recent jailbreak at the Jos custodial centre.

"The gang met waterloo when our troops tracked their members to Gyero general area, where they meet to plan how to carry out their nefarious activities.

"The kidnappers, on sighting the troops, opened fire; our troops responded with superior firepower resulting in the neutralisation of three members of the notorious gang."

Items recovered from the syndicate include one AK-47 rifle, two AK-47 rifle magazines, 101 live rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and one tricycle.
The trike is a nice touch. Did it have tassles on the handgrips?
He further listed other items: one itel and one Tecno phone, two sharp knives, and two military head warmers.

Bandits Sack Military Base In Katsina, Kill Soldier, NSCDC Operative, Injure Others
[SaharaReporters] Suspected bandidos have killed one soldier and an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) during an attack on the Forward Operating Military Base in Shimfida, Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The attack was carried out around 11pm on Wednesday, according to eyewitnesses.

SaharaReporters gathered that the button men also injured many security operatives and burnt down two patrol vehicles.

They also went away with a gun truck, 5 Ak47 rifles and other ammunition, a source added.

Katsina, despite being the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari has witnessed sporadic attacks by bandidos and kidnappers that have claimed the lives of many.

Over 700 people have been reportedly killed by the button men in Jibia, Kankara, Dutsinma, Musawa, Danmusa and Safana local government areas of the state in the last five months.

On December 11, 2020, some bandidos kidnapped 344 students of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, while Buhari was on a visit to the state. They were released about a week later.

Boko Haram Terrorists Abduct 17 Girls In Fresh Attack On Chibok Community
[SaharaReporters] Boko Haram
...not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
snuffies have kidnapped more than a dozen girls from Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State.

In their latest attack on the community, the Death Eaters captured the vigilante group’s commander and slit his throat.

They were also said to have kidnapped 25 girls out of which eight escaped, leaving 17 in captivity.

According to reports, the Death Eaters broke into the town on Thursday night after shooting in different directions.

Civilians fled into the bush and surrounding villages when the button men struck at Pemi Village, near Chibok.

The Death Eaters were said to have torched not less than 20 houses, including a branch of Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria EYN Church.

According to a resident, leader of vigilantes in the community was the main target as the local guards had waged war against the Death Eaters in the axis.

SaharaReporters recalled that about 276 girls were kidnapped from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, on April 14, 2014.

Since then, a number of them have regained freedom. At least 57 of the girls escaped the night they were kidnapped while three of them were later found. Twenty-one of the girls were released in October 2016 while another 82 were released on May 6. The government said the 82 girls were swapped with Boko Haram prisoners. On May 27, 2017, another girl also beat feet from the terrorists.

Humanitarian Ship Rescues 109 Migrants off Libyan Shores
[LibyaReview] On Thursday, Humanitarian ship, Geo Barents rescued 109 migrants colonists off the Libyan coast, Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has announced.

In a statement, MSF received an alert from the Mediterranean hotline, Alarm Phone, that a large humanitarian boat of migrants colonists had left Libya and was in distress.

The organization said that among them were many Eritrea
...is run by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), with about the amounts of democracy and justice you'd expect from a party with that name. National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age...
ns, and almost half were minors between the age of 15 and 17, most of whom were travelling alone. "Our teams are treating several people for mild hypothermia but all are doing well; they reported spending the night at sea after fleeing Libya," MSF added.

It noted that the MSF-run ship had rescued 87 others, including two children on Wednesday.

Accordingly, another ship, Mare Jonio, run by the Italian rescue charity Mediterranea Saving Humans, claimed it had saved around 100 people in a four-hour search and rescue operation on Tuesday night. The migrants colonists’ wooden boat had been sinking, and some people were already in the water, Mare Jonio reported.

The European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
has struggled to find a common policy to tackle the migration issue. Rescue operations are usually followed by wrangling between member states to determine where the migrants colonists would be disembarked.

In 2021, a total of 31,456 migrants colonists, including women and kiddies, have been rescued, while 509 died and 831 went missing on the central Mediterranean route, according to the organization.

Libya has been suffering insecurity and chaos since the fall of its leader Muammar Qadaffy
...Proof that a madman with money will be politely received for at least 42 years until his people get tired of him and kill him...
in 2011. This has made it the preferred point of departure for migrants colonists who want to cross to European shores.

Human traffickers have benefited from the chaos in the oil-rich nation, and smuggled migrants colonists through the country’s mostly non-existent borders with six nations. They pack desperate migrants colonists into ill-equipped rubber boats, then embark on risky voyages through the perilous Mediterranean sea.

Those returned have been taken to detention centers rife with abuses, including forced labour, beatings, rapes, and torture. The abuse often accompanies efforts to extort money from families before migrants colonists are allowed to leave Libya on traffickers’ boats.

UN-commissioned Sherlocks said in October that abuse and ill-treatment of migrants colonists in Libya could amount to crimes against humanity.

--Tech & Moderator Notes
Sit Rep for Saturday, Jan. 22nd
Fred is under the weather at the moment, as in way under the weather. I don't really know how serious this is; I was not given a lot of information, and I didn't ask/pry.

The remaining moderators will continue to keep the 'Burg going as best as can be done, and it will be in fits and starts such as we are now.

The Good News is that we have been working on a backup project on my own server, a mirror as it were, of the 'Burg on my own server. I have been backing it up to a live site since last March, but it is only read only at the moment. I have to slash my way through Fred's code (IOW learn) to get it to adapt to a FreeBSD operating system.

I ask of the regulars here to pray for Fred's recovery and report any errant guests/regulars to the o-club. I will handle them best I can from there.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
NYPD nab woman who allegedly told Jewish kids: ‘Hitler should have killed you all’
It turns out that in Blue America, if you’re white you don’t get to be a vicious criminal. Nobody arrests persons of colour who pick on little Jewish kids.
[IsraelTimes] Christina Darling faces hate crime charge for spitting at children outside Brooklyn synagogue, threatening to kill them

A woman who allegedly told three Jewish children in Brooklyn last week, "Hitler should have killed you all," was arrested by the NYPD on Friday.

Christina Darling, 21, is facing hate crime charges, among others, for harassing an 8-year-old Jewish boy on Friday, January 14. The boy was playing with his siblings, ages 7 and 2, outside Kehal Tiferes Avrohom Ziditshov, an Orthodox synagogue on Avenue P in Brooklyn’s Marine Park neighborhood. Darling allegedly told them, "Hitler should have killed you all. I’ll kill you and know where you live."

Surveillance cameras also show Darling spitting on the boy.

The NYPD released the footage on Tuesday. Details on how the subject was caught are not yet known.

Darling is charged with menacing and aggravated harassment — both hate crimes — as well as acting in a manner injurious to a child.

"I would hope that she understands the severity of what she did," the children’s father, Aryah Fried, told CBS News New York. "To do it to anybody is obviously problematic, but for an adult to do it to a child is just beyond crazy."

Additionally, organizers online identified Darling as a student at St. Francis College, majoring in education, English and psychology. A petition at Change.org to expel Darling from the Brooklyn college was started on Thursday; it also called upon its president, Miguel Martinez-Saenz, to "denounce this horrifying act of racism, bigotry, and harassment against the Jewish people."

According the NYPD Hate Crimes Dashboard, there were 198 confirmed incidents of hate crimes against Jewish people in New York last year; Jews were targeted more than any other group. Among those incidents, 58 arrests were made.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Report: Israeli fighter jets, refueling planes hold massive drill aimed at Tehran
[IsraelTimes] Maneuvers seen as intended to plan for strike on Iran, Saudi-owned Elaph claims, month after New York Times

... which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

reveals new tankers seen as key to threat won’t arrive before late 2024

Israeli fighter jets carried out a large drill over the Mediterranean that included practicing mid-air refueling, according to a report in a Saudi-run news outlet Thursday.

The unverified report in London-based Elaph described air maneuvers on Thursday by "an unusually large" contingent of F-15, F-16 and F-35 fighter craft, as well as Boeing mid-air refueling tankers, in what would likely be seen as a warning beacon to Iran
...The nation is noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence...
amid Israeli threats to take military action in order to stop Tehran’s nuclear program.

Citing an unnamed Arab source, Elaph reported that the "wide" maneuver took place over the Mediterranean. Israeli defense officials, who rarely comment on foreign reports, could not be immediately reached.

The use of Israel’s aging mid-air refueling fleet would be the strongest indication that Israel is planning for an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, or would like to project to Tehran and the rest of the world that it is preparing.

Israel rarely advertises its use of the refueling craft in drills publicly, but they are occasionally used for exhibitions.

In 2013, mid-air refueling tankers were used publicly as part of a large drill involving nearly all air squadrons practicing for an attack on a long-range target, against a similar backdrop of tensions with Iran.

That time, the Israel Defense Forces uploaded videos to YouTube showing F-15 and F-16 fighter jets refueling mid-air over the water, following the exercise, which reportedly took place near Greece.

According to reports at the time, the clips marked the first time the IDF had ever published videos showing its mid-air refueling capabilities.

Because of the distance, carrying out an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
inside Iran and having enough fuel for the return trip would require Israeli planes to refuel in the sky or find a friendly airbase to land at.

A report in the New York Times last month, however, indicated that Israeli plans for a possible strike on Iran had been set back by delays in the delivery of eight new Boeing KC-47 supertankers, with consignment expected to take until late 2024 at least.

Current and former officials quoted in the report said Israeli military planners believe that any strike on Iran will likely require multiple sorties against some sites, such as the underground Fordo uranium enrichment facility, necessitating speedy refueling.

The $2.4 billion deal for the eight planes was signed in March.

Israel is vocally opposed to the Iran nuclear deal, which US President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. Sleazy Dem machine politician, paterfamilias of the Biden Crime Family, the guy who bungled Afghanistan...
has said he wants to rejoin after his predecessor Donald Trump
...Oh, noze! Not him!...
withdrew the US from the pact in 2018 and reimposed sanctions. Tehran has since steadily increased its breaches of the accord.

Elaph, owned by Saudi businessman and journalist Othman Al Omeir, is seen by some as a conduit for Israeli messaging into the wider Arab world. The outlet regularly features news out of Israel and has interviewed a number of top defense figures over the years, including former defense minister Avigdor Liberman, former IDF head Gadi Eisenkot and others.

The reported drill comes as talks aimed at bringing the US back into the deal have foundered, with officials in the US and Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
saying that time for reaching a renewed pact is running low.

Israel, which has largely opposed the agreement, has said that it reserves the right to take military action to protect its citizens regardless of what happens in Vienna.

On Wednesday, Biden said progress in nuclear talks was being made and advised against cutting them off.

China-Japan-Koreas
China Is ‘Officially’ The Safest Nation On Earth, From The Coronavirus.
By NN2N1

According to W.H.O. and other health agencies that China supplied Coronavirus data to on JAN. 21, 2022

As we review the latest data, we quickly learn Communist China is a nation of about 1,447,948,150 persons. A nation of the most hygienically clean and naturally Coronavirus immune persons on earth. Because even during the peak of a new Coronavirus strain, deemed the most infectious yet, not even one Coronavirus death was reported in the last 7 days.

Now that accomplishment has to be directly the result of the Communist Chinese Governments deeply rooted control efforts. ☺

But then add to that accomplishment. Communist China officially only had 1,032 Coronavirus infections in the last 7 days. Just 1,032.... Wow that works out to something like 0.000071 of 1% for Infections over the last 7 days.

While countries like the USA, are claiming 5,000,042 infected out of a population of 334,019,477 or 1.49% of the population in just 1 week. That's something like a 2090445.29 % increase over the Communist China Government.
Surely Communist China Government has things it could share with the Biden / CDC to get our Coronavirus case loads under control.

It is important to note: That this remarkable accomplishment is nothing new for Communist China. Because, since way back in December 2019, Communist China has only reported just 105,484 Coronavirus cases and only 4,636 Coronavirus Deaths?

What are they doing that maybe other nations should be copying?
Or does it "only" work in Communist ruled countries?

Hope you enjoyed the Sarcastic Humor.

Intel Corp. said it plans to invest at least $20 billion in new chip-making capacity in Ohio, bolstering the company’s semiconductor-production ambitions as greater demand for digital products and a global chip shortage have amplified the need for more manufacturing.

Intel said Friday it would invest in two new chip factories just outside Columbus, Ohio, to add to Intel’s effort to expand its chip-making business. The company has made more than $100 billion in investment pledges over the past year. Intel Chief Executive Pat Gelsinger said the site could eventually grow to accommodate eight chip factories, also known as FABs, with spending potentially reaching around $100 billion over the next decade.

Intel will make some of its most cutting-edge processors at the new site, Mr. Gelsinger said in an interview. Planning for the first two factories will start immediately, with construction expected to begin late in 2022, he said, and production is expected to come online in 2025. The company also pledged $100 million toward partnerships with educational institutions to build a pipeline of talent and bolster research programs in the [Columbus OH] region.

The strikes in Baghuz, in Syria’s east, targeted a group of women and kiddies huddled by a river, who had been identified as such by Air Force personnel monitoring the area.

The Houthi's al-Masirah satellite news channel said the strike on the telecommunications building had killed and maimed people. It released chaotic footage of people digging through rubble for a body as gunshots could be heard. Aid workers assisted bloodied survivors.

The Saudi-led coalition battling the Houthi rebels acknowledged carrying out "accurate airstrikes to destroy the capabilities of the militia'' around Hodeida's port. It did not immediately acknowledge striking a telecommunication target as NetBlocks described, but instead called Hodeida a hub for piracy and Iranian arms smuggling to back the Houthis.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Day 2: ISIS uses civilians as 'human shields' in Rojava: SDF
Day 1 can be seen here.
[Rudaw] The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) is using civilians in northeastern Syria (Rojava) as "human shields," the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Friday after the bully boy group attempted to break thousands of its affiliates out of a prison in the area.

The SDF thwarted a "new ISIS insurgence and escape attempt" of its members from Ghweran prison in Hasaka province late Thursday, head of the forces media office Farhad Shami said in a tweet.

The insurgence coincided with a boom-mobile explosion near the prison, blamed on ISIS sleeper cells.

The bully boyz infiltrated from areas surrounding the prison. The bully boyz who attacked Ghweran later fled to al-Zuhoor neighborhood and hid in civilian houses, the SDF said.

ISIS is "using civilians in al-Zuhoor neighborhood and some areas on the northern side of the prison as human shields, amid reports of neutralizing some of those who opposed the cells orders," the SDF said in a statement. The terror group had asked the civilians to leave their homes and seek refuge in other places.

The bully boyz clashed with the internal security forces (Asayish).

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) on Friday said at least 41 people - 20 security forces, 16 ISIS suspects and five civilians - have been killed so far.

However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
the Asayish on Friday afternoon confirmed the death of one of its members and the injury of seven others. Three non-combatants were killed, it added.

The Kurdish forces arrested two ISIS members that tried to escape the Ghweran prison.

The SDF said they arrested 89 ISIS suspects who were trying to break free from Ghweran in another "mass escape" on Friday morning. It also confirmed the killing of five suspects of the terror group.

Ghweran and al-Shaddadi prison in Hasaka hold an estimated number of 7,500 Syrian and foreign ISIS suspects, including children, Human Rights Watch (HRW) said in 2020. Around 5,000 people are detained in Ghweran, which was formerly a school and is now controlled by the SDF.
Al Ahram adds:
The prison break in Syria is believed to be the largest since the militants lost the final sliver of the territory they held nearly three years ago. In recent months, IS sleeper cells have become more active in both countries, claiming attacks that killed scores of Iraqis and Syrians.

More than 100 IS fighters using heavy machine guns and vehicles rigged with explosives attacked the Gweiran Prison in the northeastern city of Hassakeh where some 3,000 suspected IS gunnies are being held, according to a front man for the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, Farhad Shami. He said seven U.S.-backed Kurdish fighters were killed and several others were maimed. At least 23 IS attackers were also among the dead, he said.

"This is the biggest attack not only in Syria but also in Iraq and the region,'' Shami said in reference to attacks carried out by IS since the bad boy groups were defeated in Syria in March 2019. "The prisoners include commanders and are among the most dangerous.''

The complex attack was mounted on Thursday evening and aimed to free fighters from the group incarcerated there. Syrian Kurdish-led forces who control the Gweiran Prison said prisoners inside the facility rioted simultaneously and tried to escape while a boom-mobile went off outside the prison and button men clashed with security forces.

The fighters were led by foreign bad boys, not Syrians, many of whom spoke in Iraqi dialect, Shami said.

The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, also known as SDF, said 89 gunnies who escaped were arrested. Another group of inmates staged a new escape attempt Friday, the SDF added.

The US-led coalition carried out an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
after reported casualties among the Syrian-led Kurdish forces late Thursday.

Shami said dozens of IS fighters had gathered earlier in a nearby neighbourhood and prepared for the attack.

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a war monitoring group, said at least 20 Kurdish security forces and prison guards were killed in the festivities, alongside six gunnies and five civilians. It described the attack as the most violent mostly peaceful one committed by IS since its territorial defeat in 2019. The Observatory said the inmates are mostly in control of the prison, while Kurdish forces attempt to wrestle it back.

A journalist with the Kurdish-run news agency Hawar was maimed during coverage of the festivities, the agency said.
More from NPÀ Syria:
Infighting erupted inside al-Sina’a prison among inmates of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) killing seven of those prisoners who decided to surrender, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Media Center said on Friday.

An intra-fighting has erupted among ISIS prisoners inside the Guweiran prison where a group of ISIS prisoners killed 7 members tried to surrender to our forces, the SDF added.

Prof. Jordan Peterson resigns tenured position at a ‘stunningly corrupt enterprise’
[NationalPost] Why I am no longer a tenured professor at the University of Toronto: the appalling ideology of diversity, inclusion and equity is demolishing education and business
The opening paragraph:
I recently resigned from my position as full tenured professor at the University of Toronto. I am now professor emeritus, and before I turned sixty. Emeritus is generally a designation reserved for superannuated faculty, albeit those who had served their term with some distinction. I had envisioned teaching and researching at the U of T, full time, until they had to haul my skeleton out of my office. I loved my job. And my students, undergraduates and graduates alike, were positively predisposed toward me. But that career path was not meant to be. There were many reasons, including the fact that I can now teach many more people and with less interference online. But here’s a few more:

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran says in talks with Russia to build nuclear power units
First Egypt, now Iran— Russia will sell its nuclear knowledge to anyone, ot appears, no matter how bad an idea it might be.
[Rudaw] Iran is in talks with Russia over the construction of two new units at its sole nuclear power plant, the Islamic republic's atomic energy agency said on Friday.

"Negotiations are underway between Tehran and Moscow to construct the second and third units of the Bushehr power plant," said Behrouz Kamalvandi, front man for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI).

The move was "in accordance with the Islamic republic's plans to produce at least 10,000 megawatts of electricity using nuclear energy", he said, quoted on the government's website.

The announcement coincides with ongoing talks in Vienna seeking to revive a 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers, including Russia.

The parties to the accord that gave Iran
...The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both...
relief from sanctions in return for curbs on its nuclear programme saw it as the best way to stop Tehran from building a nuclear bomb -— a goal it has always denied.

The United States unilaterally withdrew from the deal and began imposing sanctions on Iran in 2018 under then-president Donald Trump
...Oh, noze! Not him!...
, prompting Tehran to begin walking back on its commitments under the agreement.

Moscow built the Bushehr plant, equipped with a 1,000 MW reactor, delivering it in September 2013 after years of delay.

Kamalvandi said the project was being implemented "without delay", despite payments being behind schedule.

The announcement immediately follows a two-day visit by ultraconservative Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Moscow, during which he said Tehran has "no limits for expanding ties with Russia".

Iran has substantial reserves of oil and natural gas, but it hopes to build 20 nuclear power plants on the long term in a bid to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels.

In late December, the deputy head of the AEOI, Mahmoud Jafari, said there was a two-year delay in the construction of new units due to "financial problems".

Statue of Theodore Roosevelt demolished in New York
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin:

[ColonelCassad] In New York, a monument to US President Theodore Roosevelt was demolished at the entrance to the American Museum of Natural History.

The statue depicted Teddy Roosevelt on a horse, next to which walked an Indian and a Negro. She stood for over 80 years.

Activists have been calling for it to be removed for years, as they see it as a symbol of the perpetuation of systemic American racism. And now the time has come.

Roosevelt sawed off his head and upper body, after which the remaining monument was loaded and taken to storage. Roosevelt's great-grandson supported the demolition of the monument. stating that "it does not reflect Roosevelt's true legacy".

On the topic of what to replace the monument with, there is idle talk that it is necessary to erect a monument to George Floyd here, in addition to the one that is regularly vandalized in New York.

It is worth noting that in 2020, in Russia it was proposed to buy the monument to Roosevelt along with the monument to Baranov (explored Alaska) and take them to St. Petersburg "to preserve the cultural and historical heritage."

When will it come to the demolition of the monuments to George Washington? Stop pulling.

Joe Biden's gaffe may have inadvertently revealed the truth about his Ukraine policy
[Telegraph UK via InstaPundit] The President appeared to suggest that a 'minor incursion' by Russia wouldn't result in harsh sanctions

It was 28 minutes into Joe Biden's press conference when the gaffe came - and it was a jaw-dropper. Especially if you were watching in Kyiv or the Kremlin.

The US President appeared to say that, if Vladimir Putin were to make only a "minor incursion" into Ukraine, then Russia would not face devastating sanctions.

His exact words were: "Russia will be held accountable if it invades. And it depends on what it does. It's one thing if it's a minor incursion and we (in Nato) end up having to fight about what to do and what to not do, etcetera.

"But if they actually do what they're capable of doing, it is going to be a disaster for Russia if they further invade Ukraine."

The comment whizzed around the world and, as the implications of what he had said sank in, a journalist read it back to him.

Was Mr Biden giving "permission" for a "minor incursion" by Russia into Ukraine, the journalist asked.

Mr Biden laughed and said: "Good question. It did sound (like) that, didn't it..."

In Kyiv, there were accusations Mr Biden was giving a "green light" to the Kremlin, and anger that he would publicly make a distinction between different levels of Russian attack.

According to the Ukrainians, that was a particularly dangerous thing to do as Mr Putin's preferred option is believed to be a limited incursion.

It led to suspicions a deal was being done behind Ukraine's back. Indeed, the fear in Kyiv was that Mr Biden had not so much been wrong, but that he had inadvertently told the truth.
"We're in a situation where we have put together, and you guys did it for President Obama's administration before this, we have put together, I think, the most extensive and inclusive voter fraud organization in the history of American politics,"
Whatever he meant, it was an example of Mr Biden saying too much, and talking loosely, a failing for which he has form.

#3  I always concluded it was a case of a messenger feeling self-important and letting slip a briefing discussion of courses-of-action snippet she observed. The massive display of the last great military coalition of the West(mostly US) to retake Kuwait and then the utter destruction of Saddams forces up to the Highway of Death was amazing to watch. Then the surrender and poof, we let him off the hook for another decade or so. That we let him off after our leadership didn't like the look of total war, told me we just wanted the status quo reinstated, so the green light thesis made no sense..

(ISIS) attack in Iraq’s eastern province of Diyala, an official confirmed the corpse count to state media on Friday.

Ten soldiers and one officer were killed when an Iraqi base was raided early Friday, Diyala governor Muthanna al-Tamimi said, adding that the Iraqi army were caught unprepared, alleging negligence.

"The main reason is the soldiers' neglect in carrying out their duties, because the base is completely fortified with thermal cameras, night vision, as well as a concrete watchtower," he said.

The attack took place around 2:30 am, against an Iraqi base in the Hawi al-Azim area, a senior military official based in the province told AFP on the condition of anonymity while claiming that ISIS had launched the offensive.

"Eleven soldiers... have been killed during an attack carried out by the Islamic State... targeting a base of the army," the source added.

Iraqi President Barham Salih on Friday described the attack as a "despicable and unsuccessful attempt" to target Iraq’s security.

No group has grabbed credit for the offensive.

The terror group launched over 257 offensives, killing 387, and injuring 518 people, including Iraqi and Kurdish fighters over the past year.
Al Ahram adds:
The brazen attack more than 120 kilometres (75 miles) north of the capital, Baghdad, was one of the deadliest targeting the Iraqi military in recent months.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
REPORT: Peter Daszak Worked For CIA, EcoHealth Alliance Is A ‘CIA Front Organization'
[InfoWars] Y'all need to update the list of terrorist organizations in the Organizaton field.
The CIA is not categorized as a terrorist organization, no matter how awful they are accused of being.
[InfoWars] EcoHealth Alliance Associate Vice President Dr. Andrew Huff recently claimed that EcoHealth Alliance President Peter Daszak, who conducted gain of function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China, told him he was working for the Central Intelligence Agency.
Legally that is hearsay, I believe. People say all sorts of stuff, and believe even more. Mr. Wife’s Uncle Pete, who was a Marine in Viet Nam, is convinced my husband is a CIA agent. The fact that I protest that he travelled the world for three decades starting up laundry detergent factories and then developing joint research projects with universities and chemical suppliers only proves to Uncle Pete that a) I’m adorably and incurably gullible, because b) nobody really does the kind of work Mr. Wife claims to have done, proving that he must be a CIA spy.
Dr. Andrew Huff, PhD, MS, publicly stated on January 12 that EcoHealth Alliance President Peter Daszak confessed to him that he was working for the Central Intelligence Agency, and further stated his belief that EcoHealth Alliance was a “CIA front organization.”

Huff received his Ph.D. in Environmental Health specializing in emerging diseases before becoming an Associate Vice President at EcoHealth Alliance, according to report by independent journalist Kanekoa, who detailed the ordeal on his Substack newsletter.

While working with the global scientific nonprofit, he was tasked with developing “novel methods of bio-surveillance, data analytics, and visualization for disease detection.”

EcoHealth Alliance, headed by Daszak, and financed by several US government agencies, partnered with Dr. Ralph Baric of the University of North Carolina and Dr. Shi Zhengli of the Wuhan Institute of Virology to conduct gain-of-function research on bat-borne coronaviruses in Communist China prior to the initial outbreak of COVID-19.

Daszak reportedly oversaw the screening of “thousands of bat samples for novel coronaviruses.” The controversial research also involved “screening people who work with live animals.”

The revelations added fuel to concerns that coronavirus pandemic originated from that very lab, which Daszak aggressively maintains is not true.

Remember, except for Antifa and the rest of the variously named Black Bloc anarcho-communist fronts, Communists are classed as Page 3: Non-War on Terror — except when they’re playing footsie with Iran or Pakistan. The CIA’s problems are more a matter of ignorance and arrogance driving what to us here are obviously dumb decisions, or straight up corruption, whether Democrat/Progressive politics or cashing in on China contacts.

I bet Uncle Pete's a treat to meet, TW.
