[CNBC] - Sick of shipping delays? There might be a faster way to ship supplies around the world in the not too distant future.
With melting sea ice in the Arctic, Russia and China are expanding their shipping infrastructure over the Eurasian continent. Last year’s Suez Canal incident, when a ship got stuck and blocked global traffic for several days, was seen as just the argument to entice businesses to explore using Arctic shipping routes.
"Many Russian officials are very quick to jump on the fact that Arctic sea routes are potentially much more useful for avoiding the kind of bottlenecks that one would see in either Panama or Suez Canal," said Marc Lanteigne, associate professor of political science at the Arctic University of Norway.
China claims using the Northern Sea Route would shave almost 20 days off the shipping time now spent traveling through the Suez Canal.
But Arctic transit is no small feat and is still highly unpredictable. Captain Kenneth Boda took the U.S. Coast Guard cutter HEALY through the Arctic over Alaska and Canada this past summer.

...My concern there is that if the Russians bet on this happening - and it doesn't - they're going to be pi$$ed enough to try and make it happen anyways.

the arctic doesn't need to be free of ice to allow late summer, early fall transit from the N Atlantic to the N Pacific
it just needs the thicker ice to stay about 30 miles or so from the continent
we've already had a few summers in which this occurred

Could you build a hovercraft capable of carrying large amounts of cargo? Could such a beast travel safely over arctic ice?
Could you economically construct a container ship the same way they construct ice-breakers?
If the area is so valuable for shipping how come nobody is talking about alternatives?
#10
I don't know much about hovercraft but the physics of lifting 200,000 tons seems, well, difficult.
As for a combo cargo/ice breakers, that is certainly possible but the problem is that going through ice slows the vessel down a lot. The Russians have some of the best ice breakers and they rarely go more than 7 mph in ice.

Interesting coincidence in the date. A 1999 Russian study on the hydrology of glacier runoff in the Himalayans said if warming continued unabated, 'glaciers might remain in compact areas by 2350."
Not good enough for the IPCC, who cited it in their 2009 (?) report as Himalayan glaciers 'completely disappeared by 2035' - a 315 year 'advancement' of the 'science'.

[The Balance] Every state imposes some form of property tax. These taxes are commonly associated with real estate, but some states tax vehicles and other assets as well. Rates can range from very low in one state to astronomically high in another, but other types of taxes can balance property tax rates so the overall impact on residents is about the same.
Property taxes generate the revenue that states need to keep themselves up and running and to provide necessary services to their residents. School districts tend to rely heavily on these taxes, but the revenue also funds city and state workers' salaries—including first responders—as well as water, sewer, and other services.
[DailyCaller] P.J. O'Rourke, a legendary American political satirist and journalist, died Tuesday at the age of 74 from lung cancer complications.
O'Rourke was the author of over 20 books, including two New York Times bestsellers, "Parliament of Whores," and "Give War a Chance." He was also the editor and chief of the former humor magazine "National Lampoon" from 1978 to 1980.
New York Post columnist John Podhoretz eulogized O'Rourke Tuesday, saying he was, "for a long time, the only cool conservative writer in America." Podhoretz remembered him as a kind man, and a great satirist and writer. He also wrote that O'Rourke "skewered clueless old leftists" with his sharp satire.
The vice president and spokeswoman of O'Rourke's publisher, Grove Atlantic, confirmed his death in a statement.
"Our dear friend and cherished Grove Atlantic author P. J. O'Rourke passed away this morning from complications of lung cancer," the statement reads. I really enjoyed his books, especially 'Holidays in Hell'

This is gonna be fun.

Yeah, he really stepped on a rake.
If a pocket veto is even possible, it is still a loss, "If it wasn't enough of an emergency to send the request to Parliament, why did you declare an emergency?"
"Can Parliament affirm an emergency on broken dictates, on breaking a 'law' which isn't a law?"
Even those who may agree with the 'emergency' measure for whatever reason, do they want it put into stone and give away the game, affirming the seriousness of the convoy?
#10
When asked directly, the right flushable Turdo responded with a jingle non-answer.
As I understand, no bill confirming the dictate has been submitted.
We do know that the currently Canadian Dictatorship is using illegally sources, and quite honestly unverified information physically harass any name which appears on that list; in conjection with that action Washington Post will be conduction their harassment in the USA in accordance to the Biden statement explicitly in support of a crackdown, making both corporations in agreement with what can only be described as criminal trespass, theft, and stalking.

(And Quebec can join Haiti and the Maritimes, Iceland.)
#13
Others are now noticing that not only should a bill have been prepared beforehand, because there has been plenty of time, it should have been submitted with cause exactly 5 seconds after unlocking the doors. So when questions about the longevity of the dictate are poo-poo'd, it isn't a good look.
So is, dare I say, organizationally speaking, Afghanistan more free than Canada?
Let's not forget Biden's call to push the Dictator Button.
#14
Its not like he woke up this morning after a 6 pack of Taco Bell burritos and surprised himself with pushing the dictator button, showing up to Parliament unprepared and surprised; his question deflections were well prepared and measured. Coached one would say.

I'm guessing its a busy time in the back halls of Parliament Hill as Turd'Dho tries to get votes before presenting the Bill to authorize tis extraordinary act. Absent that certainty, most of this is really bluff with scary blathering but not really using a lot of the powers not yet?authorized.
[Breitbart] Three people are dead in a rollover crash in West Texas involving a suspected human smuggling vehicle being pursued by police. Four others are reported to be seriously injured and were transported to area hospitals.
Texas Department of Public Safety Spokesman Lt. Chris Olivarez told Breitbart Texas the driver of a stolen Chevrolet pickup truck lost control of the vehicle and rolled several times. The crash left three people dead at the scene. Four others are reportedly injured.
The crash occurred in the pre-dawn hours Tuesday morning after Texas DPS troopers attempted to stop the vehicle suspected of hauling smuggled migrants. DPS officials confirmed the truck was stolen. The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 57 about four miles east of La Pryor in Zavala County.
“This matches all the profiles we see in regards to human smuggling activities,” Lt. Oliverez told Breitbart. The driver failed to yield to the trooper’s emergency lights and crashed after attempting to pass another vehicle on the righthand shoulder. He lost control of the truck carrying seven people crossing the highway and rolled multiple times.

[Breitbart] McCarthyism has gone back to the future, with the federal intelligence community accusing the website Zero Hedge of — wait for it, wait for it — collaborating with the Russians.
Naturally, the misinformation media, this time in the form of the far-left Associated Press, is playing stenographer. Get a load of this:
U.S. intelligence officials on Tuesday accused a conservative financial news website with a significant American readership of amplifying Kremlin propaganda and alleged five media outlets targeting Ukrainians have taken direction from Russian spies.
The officials said Zero Hedge, which has 1.2 million Twitter followers, published articles created by Moscow-controlled media that were then shared by outlets and people unaware of their nexus to Russian intelligence. The officials did not say whether they thought Zero Hedge knew of any links to spy agencies and did not allege direct links between the website and Russia.
Hey, I’m no Capital “J” journalist or anything, but isn’t the correct response to this something along the lines of, Call me back when you do have some evidence? But instead, the AP took dictation. Such good dogs.
So the Deep State War Machine has no evidence of Zero Hedge collaborating with the Russians, did not even allege there were links between the two, and still, these fascists are smearing Zero Hedge, and the A.P. is happy to run wild with the following headline: “U.S. accuses financial website of spreading Russian propaganda.”
Anyway, this is what I think is happening…
The War Machine — you know, the War Machine that convinces Americans to spend trillions of dollars liberating foreign people when all we do is kill a bunch of them and then abandon the rest — that War Machine is furious Americans didn’t bite on this Ukraine narrative, furious that the ole gotta-liberate-the oppressed-peoples ploy flopped. You see, we’re just not buying their shit anymore, especially when the president of Ukraine is all: I don’t know what y’all are talking about. We’re fine.
From where I sit, the overall public reaction to the Ukraine war drums generated by the War Machine, the corporate media, and the Biden administration fell into two categories: indifference and disbelief. Come on, we all knew it was B.S. coming from a War Machine desperate for profits, a corrupt media desperate for ratings, and a president desperate to boost his approval numbers and distract from his radioactive pile of domestic failures.
This War Machine flail at Zero Hedge is especially hilarious when we know for a fact — a fact — that China “paid more than $1.6 million for advertising campaigns in Time magazine, the Los Angeles Times, Financial Times, and Foreign Policy magazine, according to disclosures filed with the Justice Department.”
But nobody cares about China because that’s the “correct” foreign propaganda profiting the “correct” news outlets.
Courtesy of Mullah Richard:
Now We've Done It: We Pissed Off The CIA [ZH] - While the collapse of public trust in the mainstream media is nothing new, with Forbes recently reporting that "Fewer Americans than ever before trust the mainstream media", it is only a much more recent phenomenon that members of the media's highest echelons - such as the NYT's Matthew Rosenberg - have started asking themselves and their (few remaining) readers the much more difficult question of why is public trust of media so low.
Unfortunately, instead of following up with some much needed top-to-bottom cleansing and fundamental reassessment of how the MSM pursues, analyzes and reports news, the media has simply fallen back to its traditional tactic of spewing baseless hit pieces against outlets they would rather see silenced and/or censored. RTWT
BLUF We will give the final word to the AP hit piece itself, which quotes Bret Schafer, a senior fellow at the German Marshall Fund's Alliance for Securing Democracy, who said:
"My guess is that most of the people who are loyal Zero Hedge followers naturally are inclined to mistrust the U.S. government anyway," he said, "and so this announcement is probably not going to undermine most of Zero Hedge's core support."
We agree. As for the CIA, no we are not going to date you. Ever.

Halyna Hutchins' husband and son are suing Alec Baldwin and others associated with production of Western Rust after the actor shot her dead
Hours after the civil lawsuit was filed Tuesday, Baldwin posted to Instagram a video of a sign that read, 'Everything's going to be alright'
Lawyers claims 'reckless behavior and cost-cutting' led to cinematographer's death in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in October 2021
Complaint alleges Baldwin had 'refused' training for the kind of gun draw he was doing when he accidentally shot Hutchins
A video created by the attorneys showed a 3D animated recreation of the shooting
It shows a computer-generated avatar representing Baldwin accepting the Colt from David Halls, pointing it in Hutchins' direction, and firing
The animation shows that the bullet in the chamber was live and not a 'dummy' with a hole drilled into it. The round strikes Hutchins, who clutches her chest and collapses in the video
Baldwin, who was seen out in New York City's West Village on Tuesday, has not commented on the lawsuit but he later posted a video of a sign that read 'Everything's going to be alright' to Instagram

Allowing live rounds on the set was some serious negligence. From bits I've heard, the whole production was a low-rent, slipshod affair.
I am suddenly wondering if the round fired was the only live one in the gun. Dummy rounds look just like live ones. Maybe someone grabbed a handful from the wrong box when they were setting up.
[Babylon Bee] JERUSALEM—Historians have discovered new evidence that when God provided miraculous bread to feed the Israelites in the wilderness after their exodus from Egypt, Israelite children refused to eat the manna until their moms had carefully removed the crust.
"After poring over a trove of newly found scrolls, it seems the ancient Israelite children were every bit as whiny as their parents," said Old Testament scholar Nikolai Popov. "These new documents show children frequently complained about leaving slavery in Egypt, saying 'at least in Egypt we had ham and cheese Lunchables!' They also demanded their moms cut the manna into fun shapes like ’Mount Horeb’ or ’Pillar of Fire’."
The children also were reportedly unimpressed with miraculous quail, instead begging every night for hot dogs and macaroni. Parents did eventually take their concerns to Moses, who looked up to the sky and said, "Just kill me now, O Lord." So, the hot dog matter was dropped.
As the Israelites approached the land of Caanan, parents began to entice their kids to eat dinner with the promise of a new land filled with dessert. However, the children were unmoved by mere honey, vowing to hold out for a land of "chocolate frosted sugar bombs."

[WashingtonFreeBeacon] Iraq’s security forces are overrun by Iranian-backed Death Eaters, the Pentagon disclosed for the first time publicly in a report indicating Tehran’s anti-American militias have long been cashing in on U.S. taxpayer funds.
"Iran ...Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979... and Iran-aligned militias continue to have strong ties to some elements of Iraq’s traditional security forces," the Pentagon’s inspector general informed Congress in a new report on U.S. military operations in the region. Iraq’s federal police and emergency response division, both overseen by Iraq’s Interior Ministry (MOI), as well as the Iraqi Army’s fifth and eighth divisions "are the units thought to have the greatest Iranian influence." However, some people cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go... "officers sympathetic to Iranian or militia interests are scattered throughout the security services."
The report marks the first unclassified admission that Iran controls and directs large swaths of Iraq’s security infrastructure, according to current and former U.S. officials who spoke to the Washington Free Beacon. Though Iran’s influence has been an open secret for decades, the Pentagon continued to provide funding to Iraq’s MOI, which is siphoned to the country’s Badr Corps, an Iran-created fighting force that was absorbed into Iraq’s security infrastructure after the U.S. invasion of the country in 2003.
The high-ranking presence of the Badr Corps in Iraq’s security forces has long been a source of concern for Iran hawks in Congress. But the Pentagon’s first public acknowledgment of their power is renewing calls for the Biden administration, the same old faces in slightly different places, the same old ideas, the same old graft ...the collection of boodlers, grifters, hangers-on, and self-proclaimed experts affiliated with the Biden Crime Family. Entrusted with an entire nation as the result of a suspicious election, they set about happily implementing stuff they absorbed in college, all of which blew up and splattered the rest of us... to cut off funds to Iraq’s MOI and designate the Badr Corps as a terrorist group due to its ties to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).
"The DoD’s Inspector General report proves what we’ve known for too long—Iraq’s federal police and MOI have been infiltrated by Iranian-backed militias," Rep. Greg Steube (R., Fla.), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, told the Free Beacon. "President Trump’s [National Security Council] warned of this exact scenario and made efforts to cut off funding. With this report in hand, it’s time Congress finally take action to defund any U.S. support going to Iraq’s MOI and federal police forces. Our U.S. taxpayer dollars have no place in the hands of the Iranian regime."
While the Trump administration privately raised concerns about the Badr Corps and Iran’s growing presence in Iraq’s security forces, it was not able to cut funding due to objections from the Pentagon, according to sources familiar with the matter. Despite their ties to Iran, the Badr Corps and other Iranian militia groups in Iraq are seen as central to the battle against ISIS, a rival terrorist faction.
"It was always surprising that DOD justified paying the MOI given their control by Badr Corps and the IRGC," one former Trump administration official who handled Iran and Iraq policy told the Free Beacon. The official requested anonymity in order to openly discuss the sensitive topic.
With the Biden administration in the final stages of inking a new nuclear accord with Iran, it is unlikely the United States will cut funding to the MOI and Badr Corps.
Matthew Zais, a former senior Trump administration official, acknowledged on Twitter last week that the Trump administration "tried to stop" the Defense Department from giving cash to Iraq’s MOI. These efforts were followed with a bid by the Republican Study Committee (RSC), the largest GOP caucus in Congress, to stop American funds from reaching Iranian-backed bully boyz in Iraq. In its 2021 budget proposal, the RSC called for defunding Iraq’s MOI due to Iranian infiltration of its ranks.
[PJMedia] Under Canada’s Emergency Act, the prime minister (currently Justin Trudeau ...hereditary prime minister of the same country that once produced McKenzie King... ) may take over police forces throughout the country. After Trudeau invoked the Act, declaring what is tantamount to martial law, and conscripted Canada’s law enforcement, the Ottawa Police Chief has handed in his resignation.
In response to the Freedom Convoy of truckers and thousands of others tired of Trudeau’s fickle and authoritarian response to COVID-19, the prime minister and his cabinet invoked the never-used, last-ditch authority to take over everything in Canada. He’s a dictator now.
The Emergency Act can only be invoked if the "lives, health or safety of Canadians" are "seriously endangered." Under the Act, Trudeau has sole dictatorial powers to change laws on a whim.
He’s already begun going through the information exploited from the hacked GiveSendGo crowdfunding website and demanding citizens explain themselves, according to Rebel News.
CBC reports that "in an unusual move" under the Emergency Act, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) "will be empowered to enforce all municipal bylaws and provincial offences in Ottawa. The RCMP does not carry out many policing functions in Ontario." They do now.
Ottawa Police Chief Peter Sloly reportedly was pushed aside by Trudeau as his federal troops took over Monday night.
Sloly made his resignation official on Tuesday.
Sloly has come under tremendous criticism by the people of Ottawa and the anti-mandate protesters. He defended his actions, saying the police under his leadership gave out "500 tickets, towed trucks, towed vehicles" and were responsible for a "significant decrease in protesters." He claimed that the numbers of truckers and protesters over the past two weekends have diminished from "10-15 thousand protesters and 3,000 trucks" to "five thousand protesters and 1,000 trucks as a direct reaction to our ’surge and enforcement'" response.
Trudeau has gotten pushback from the premiers of several Canadian provinces over invoking the Act. CBC reports that before he invoked the Act he was required to determine if "the emergency exceeds the capacity or authority of a province to deal with it" and whether the situation "seriously threatens the illusory sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of Canada." The premiers of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Quebec, Prince Edward Island, and Alberta have all declared the drastic action unnecessary.
Trudeau says he’s limiting the Act to Ottawa, but people are dubious.
The Toronto Star editorialized today that "Trudeau has gone too far."
In the editorial, the Star opines that Trudeau was waiting for a Jan. 6 moment to come and it never did. Invoking the Act appears to be a way to attempt to force it.
Deputy PM Christia Freeland explained that the Emergencies Act will be used to cut off financial support to the protesters. "This is about following the money," she said. "This is about stopping the financing of the illegal blockades."
"Consider yourself warned. If your truck is being used in these illegal blockades, your corporate accounts will be frozen, the insurance on your vehicle will be suspended. Send your rigs home," she said, adding that the government’s powers would include cracking down on crowdfunding sites, making them register with the government, and freezing the assets of those involved in helping to fund the protests.

[JustTheNews] COVID-19 mask mandates were never necessary, says Dr. Robert Malone.
"We've known how to cure COVID since about March of 2020," the mRNA-vaccine-pioneer-turned-critic told "Just the News, Not Noise" TV show cohosts John Solomon and Amanda Head.
The sudden scramble two years later by democratic governors to lift mask mandates "is a clear pivot consequent to their horrible polling numbers," Malone said. "It's exactly what I predicted when people were asking me, 'How will we know when this thing is over?' I've said, 'Well, you'll know it because they'll all start giving awards to each other and claiming that they're the ones that are responsible for curing it.'"
Malone also discussed explosive new data from the Defense Medical Epidemiology Database (DMED) regarding possible COVID vaccine side effects, which three military medical whistleblowers recently came forward with when they saw a significant increase in common vaccine injuries during 2021.
"DMED was something that Lt. Col. Theresa Long and some of her colleagues queried when they were busy doing diligence to try to understand what they were seeing with their own warfighter communities that they were sworn to protect as physicians," Malone explained.
"And they were seeing signals that were unusual, and so they consulted the DMED database and were shocked to find enormous increases in 2021, when the vaccine mandates were implemented to the military, compared to 2020 in a wide variety of diseases, including cancers, things related to reproduction and female reproductive health."
Malone was asked about recently released emails exposing a plan by three top federal public health officials to discredit the anti-lockdown epidemiologists behind the Great Barrington Declaration. The exchange showed the three — then-National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director Francis Collins, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Director Dr. Anthony Fauci, and NIAID Deputy Director for Clinical Research and Special Projects Dr. Clifford Lane — coordinating "a quick and devastating takedown" of the premises of the declaration, which espouses "focused protection," a mitigation strategy prioritizing the most vulnerable populations.
"[T]hey slandered and defamed those three as 'fringe' epidemiologists, but they happen to be full professors at the obscure universities Oxford, Stanford and Harvard, I believe," Malone said sarcastically, referring to Sunetra Gupta, Ph.D., Jay Bhattacharya, MD, Ph.D., and Martin Kulldorff, Ph.D., respectively.
"And please note that neither Dr. Fauci nor Dr. Collins nor Dr. Lane have any formal training in epidemiology," Malone added.
Malone also reacted to the news that the South African doctor who discovered the Omicron variant said she was pressured not to call the new COVID variant a "mild" illness in public.
"So what we're looking at," he said, "is really quite shocking: It runs across all of health care, it runs all the way through Health and Human Services, it runs across all the Western nations — there seems to be some odd collusion, and that has been focused on amplifying the fear and suppressing any counter-narrative."

[CNSnews] CDC: 40.5% of U.S. Babies Born in 2020 Had Unmarried Mothers; 42.0% Born on Medicaid
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported last week that there were 3,613,647 births registered in the United States in 2020 and that 1,464,121 of these—or 40.5 percent--were to unmarried mothers.
"The percentage of all births to unmarried women was 40.5% in 2020," said the CDC's "Births: Final Data for 2020" report.
The CDC also reported that 42.0% percent of births in the United States in 2020 were covered by government-funded Medicaid.
Among the 50 states, according to the report's Supplemental Table I-7, Mississippi had the highest percentage of babies born to unmarried mothers (55.8 percent).
It was followed by Louisiana (54.5 percent); New Mexico (53.2 percent); Nevada (48.8 percent); Alabama (48.5 percent); Delaware (48.1 percent); Florida (47.2 percent); Arkansas (46.8 percent); West Virginia (46.8 percent); and South Carolina (46.6 percent).
Utah had the lowest percentage of babies born in 2020 to unmarried mothers (19.3 percent). Colorado had the second lowest percentage (23.2 percent), followed by Idaho (27.7 percent); Washington (31.6 percent); New Hampshire (32.1 percent); Minnesota (32.6 percent); North Dakota (32.8 percent); Massachusetts (33.0 percent); Nebraska (33.4 percent); and New Jersey and Montana (both at 33.9 percent).
“The percentage of all births to unmarried women was 40.5 percent in 2020, up 1% from 2019 (40.0 percent),” the CDC said in the report published by its National Center for Health Statistics division. “The percentage of all births to unmarried women peaked in 2009 at 41.0 percent.”

[Breitbart] The Republican National Committee (RNC) is suing Bucks County, Pennsylvania, to push for more transparency when it comes to the county’s processes for counting absentee ballots, Breitbart News has learned exclusively.
The lawsuit represents an escalation by the GOP in an effort to establish uniformity in the Keystone State when it comes to the process of absentee ballot counting, with several counties in the state still resisting transparency and reform efforts.
"The RNC is suing the Bucks County Board of Elections because Pennsylvanians deserve transparent elections," RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel told Breitbart News. "Refusing to share crucial information about how absentee ballots are counted is unacceptable. This is yet another example of how the RNC is fighting for election integrity in courts across the country: whether it’s non-citizens voting in New York City or local election boards hiding information, we hold Democrats accountable."
Filed Friday in the Court of Common Pleas in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, the RNC lawsuit against the Bucks County Board of Elections seeks to compel the county to provide documents and information the RNC previously filed formal requests for regarding the process for absentee ballot counting in Pennsylvania elections. The county previously denied the information through the formal request, and the RNC seeks to have the court overturn that denial and force the county to cooperate with the public records requests.
At first, per the RNC lawsuit, Bucks County sought extensions from the deadline Pennsylvania open records laws impose on such requests—but then later formally denied the request. The RNC appealed the denial to the state Office of Open Records, where the request was also denied. This lawsuit is the next step in attempting to procure all that information as the GOP seeks to rein in the left when it comes to election matters in Pennsylvania and other states.
Bucks County is also not the only Pennsylvania where the GOP is fighting this matter. Similar battles are playing out in Berks, Montgomery, Philadelphia, and Allegheny counties as well. Party officials say they are prepared to bring similar lawsuits against other counties that resist the production of these records, like Bucks County is doing.
RNC officials told Breitbart News that during the 2020 election in Pennsylvania, counties lacked uniformity in how absentee ballots were counted and that some counties allowed voters to "cure" what election officials considered "defective ballots" while other counties did not allow curing of ballots—something that the party believes negatively impacted Republican voters, while disparately helping Democrat voters, in the state of Pennsylvania.
The RNC is attempting to, through these efforts, compel counties across Pennsylvania to be transparent in how they process and count absentee ballots—several of these countries are notoriously secretive about the process, as evidenced by the formal denials of the open records requests. What’s more, RNC officials believe that once the information on the process is available and transparent, it could provide the basis for a larger lawsuit and legal action forcing a uniformity statewide on the process of handling absentee ballots.
This latest action comes on the heels of a state court in Pennsylvania in late January striking down Act 77, the state law that retiring Democrat Gov. Tom Wolf used as the basis for the state’s 2020 election activities.
[Garowe] al-Shabaab ...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord... gunnies continued with their onslaught in Somalia, targeting innocent civilians and security forces, despite solid efforts to reclaim the country from the terror group which has been dominant for over a decade.
A top security official said at least four people were killed on Monday after a rickshaw they were traveling in hit an Improvised Explosive Device [IED] in Jowhar city of Southern Somalia on Monday.
The official who spoke in condition of anonymity to the media added that the incident took place at Hansholey village in the regional administrative capital of Hirshabelle in the Middle Shabelle region.
Military personnel, the official added, usually frequent the road thus the gunnies were probably targeting them. The al-Shabaab controls large swathes of rural central and southern Somalia according to reports by the US Africa Command.
[IsraelTimes] IDF says soldiers fired on dozens of Paleostinians who approached army tower, throwing stones; Paleostinian witness disputes IDF account: ’These weren’t really festivities’.
A Paleostinian man was rubbed out by Israeli soldiers near Nabi Saleh, a small town northwest of Ramallah, the Paleostinian Authority Health Ministry said on Tuesday. The man was identified as Nihad Amin al-Barghouti, a resident of nearby Kufr Ein in his 20s. al-Barghouti previously served a term in Israeli jail for security offenses, according to Paleostinian media.
The Israeli military said in a statement that troops had fired on "dozens of Paleostinians" who approached a reinforced army post next to Nabi Saleh and threw stones at soldiers. The soldiers "responded with riot dispersal means and suspect arrest procedure, which included live fire," the Israeli army said in a statement.
"A report has been received about the death of a Paleostinian. The matter is being examined," the army concluded.
But a Paleostinian witness who spoke to The Times of Israel rejected that account. According to the witness, whose house overlooks the military observation tower, only a handful of Paleostinians — "four or five" approached the tower.
"These weren’t really festivities. The small group approached the tower. The soldiers descended from the tower and then they started firing — just one shot," said the witness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, fearing reprisal.
"Afterwards, we went down to try to offer him first aid, but he had already lost consciousness," the witness said.
When asked whether the Paleostinians threw stones, the witness did not deny it. But they why it was necessary for the soldiers to descend from the tower in the first place.
"If they’d stayed in the tower, it was reinforced, they would have been in no danger. This proves that the intention was to kill. These were young kids — [al-Barghouti] was the oldest of them," the witness said.
Al-Barghouti’s death comes as tensions between Israel and the Paleostinians have risen across the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
Clashes have erupted for the past several nights in the flashpoint East Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah. Dozens of Paleostinians and right-wing Israelis have faced off, with police arresting some and firing sound grenades and high-pressure water to disperse the gatherings.
Sheikh Jarrah has become one of Jerusalem’s tensest neighborhoods. Far-right Jewish nationalists have sought to evict Paleostinian residents in legal battles that helped touch off violence between Israel and the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, terror group last May. Paleostinians in Sheikh Jarrah have recently been protesting the pending eviction of the Salem family. The eleven Paleostinians are set to be evicted by Jerusalem city councilmember Yonatan Yosef as early as March.
Far-right Israeli politician Itamar Ben Gvir has set up a temporary "office" in the neighborhood, further stoking tensions. Ben Gvir said he was protesting the insecurity felt by Jewish Israelis living in Sheikh Jarrah, following the Molotov cocktailing of a home where a Jewish family lived. Two suspects were arrested earlier this week in connection with the Friday attack.
On Tuesday, Israeli troops raided al-Quds University in Abu Dis to break up a protest against the Sheikh Jarrah evictions. In video from the scene, students and faculty could be seen running for cover as tear gas canisters arced through the air inside the campus.
The Israeli army did not respond to a request for comment on the Abu Dis incident.

[IsraelTimes] Social justice activist Quintez Brown charged with attempted murder after allegedly firing at Craig Greenberg at his campaign headquarters; police still investigating motive
A candidate for Louisville’s metro council stands charged with attempted murder, accused of opening fire on a mayoral candidate whose shirt was grazed by a bullet in his campaign headquarters, police said Tuesday.
Quintez Brown, 21, also faces four counts of wanton endangerment, Louisville police front man Aaron Ellis said.
Police said Brown appears to have acted alone, and the motive remains under investigation.
The possibilities are insanity, really seedy politics, or a BLM plot to clear out the whiteJew competition for the seat, as far as I can see.
After a previous incident last year when Brown briefly disappeared, his family said his mental health was among their concerns.
Brown, a social justice activist running as an independent for the council, has campaigned with a slate of candidates opposed to projects they say will worsen gentrification in Kentucky’s largest city.
The apparent target of Monday’s shooting, Jewish Democrat Craig Greenberg, has promoted his experience at the center of the city’s revitalization efforts, and helped draft legislation promoting developments in Louisville’s predominantly Black west side.
Greenberg said he was at his campaign headquarters with four colleagues when a man appeared in the doorway and began firing multiple rounds.
"When we greeted him, he pulled out a gun, aimed directly at me and began shooting," Greenberg said. "Despite one bullet coming so close that it grazed my sweater and my shirt, no one was physically harmed."
One staffer managed to shut the door, which they barricaded using "tables and desks," and the suspect fled, he said.
Apprehended a short time later less than a half-mile from the scene, Brown was carrying a loaded 9mm magazine in his pants pocket and had a drawstring bag with a handgun and additional handgun magazines, according to the arrest report.
"Today is not a day for politics, but it’s not lost on me that the violence my staff and I experienced today is far too common in our city. Too many Louisville families have experienced the trauma of gun violence," Greenberg said Monday.
Brown, a former intern and editorial columnist for The Courier Journal, has been prolific on social media, tweeting and retweeting comments on social justice issues. In one recent post, Brown showed the faces of several young Blacks killed by gun violence in Louisville, writing: "This is our reality. All of these kids are gone."
"Gun violence reveals the interconnected nature of our reality," Brown posted. "What affects one directly, affects all indirectly. Especially in our segregated conditions."
Greenberg has built a big fundraising lead in a crowded race to succeed outgoing Mayor Greg Fischer in the Democratic-leaning city. A Harvard-educated lawyer, Greenberg helped start Louisville-based 21c Museum Hotels, building the company to more than 1,100 employees. The company is credited with helping revive Main Street in downtown Louisville and other urban neighborhoods across the country.
Brown disappeared for about two weeks last summer. After he was found safe, his parents issued a statement asking for patience and privacy while they attended to "Quintez’s physical, mental and spiritual needs," the Courier Journal reported.
Craig Greenberg, a Jewish Democrat running for mayor of Louisville, KY, was shot Monday. Arrested for his attempted murder is a 21-yr-old "racial justice" protester who calls for "the total liberation and unification of Africa under scientific socialism.”https://t.co/tOMzOuiDIA

AFRIN, Syria (North Press) – One person of the Turkish-controlled region of Afrin, northern Syria, was killed yesterday evening in explosion of a landmine between south of the region.
The 52-year-old Mustafa Arab was killed in the explosion of a landmine between Kimar and Soghana villages in Sherawa district, south of Afrin, special source told North Press.
The vicinity of the two villages is planted with landmines, the source added saying, “Turkish intelligence and Turkish-backed opposition factions plant landmines to prevent Afrin residents getting out.”
The city of Afrin and its villages, northern Syria, have been controlled by Turkish forces and the affiliated factions since March 2018.
Since then, the region has been witnessing ongoing security chaos accompanied by infighting among militants of the Turkish-backed factions, arrests, and kidnappings amid the factions’ disability to settle the security and spread safety.
[AlAhram] Egypt’s current efforts to reconstruct the Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... Strip include building three towns that are set to house around 300,000 residents, undersecretary of the Paleostinian Ministry of Public Works and Housing Naji Sarhan told AP.
In May last year, Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi pledged $500 million to rebuild Gaza after an Egypt-brokered ceasefire stopped an 11-day Israeli assault on the strip that killed 250 Paleostinians and caused financial losses estimated at $450 million.
Qatar ...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi... also pledged $500 million for Gaza’s reconstruction and the United States announced it was allocating $110 million in new economic assistance to the Paleostinian people, including $5.5 million for immediate relief to the strip.
The Israeli bombing of the strip completely demolished around 1,650 housing units and caused damage to about 60,000 housing units, Sarhan said in December.
The reconstruction of Gaza requires far more than $500 million, El-Sisi said during a panel discussion at the World Youth Forum (WYF) in Sharm El-Sheikh last month.
"We were hoping to contribute even more than the payment pledged," he said.
El-Sisi was the first Egyptian president to call on the international community to fund the agency in his speech to the United Nations ...where theory meets practice and practice loses... General Assembly, Sahar al-Jabury, chief representative in Cairo for the United Nations’ Relief and Works Agency for Paleostinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), said in the same panel discussion.
Al-Jabury said that the UNRWA depends on Egypt’s role to call on international partners to continue supporting the agency to help the Gaza Strip recover from the crisis in which it finds itself.
In the report published by the AP on Monday, Sarhan said work is also underway to develop the strip’s main coastal road, expecting projects in Gaza to be completed in a year-and-a-half.
The Egyptian projects in the strip, which are implemented in cooperation with nine Paleostinian companies, will secure around 16,000 job opportunities, the AP quoted Alaa al-Arraj, head of the Paleostinian contractors' union, as saying.
Egypt has delivered tones of aid and materials, including bulldozers, trucks, and utility poles, as well as dozens of Egyptian workers, to finish the reconstruction process in Gaza, a home to more than 2 million Paleostinians.
Since the ceasefire, Egypt has called for creating a suitable climate for the resumption of the Egyptian Paleostinian grinding of the peace processor and has sent head of the General Intelligence Service Abbas Kamel twice last year to the Israeli and Paleostinian territories to consolidate the ceasefire.
Egyptian delegations are also visiting Gaza to inspect the reconstruction work, and an office at a Gaza City hotel for permanent technical representatives has been opened, the AP reported.
"Gaza is a reminder to everybody, effectively, that you can't really do anything without Egypt," Hafsa Halawa, an expert on Egypt at the Middle East Institute, a Washington think tank, told AP.
In solidarity with the Paleostinians, Egypt has opened since May the Rafah border crossing, which is the only crossing point between Egypt and Paleostine's coastal enclave, to let stranded people from both sides cross the border and to bring aid and reconstruction materials into Gaza.
[IsraelTimes] Families of nine victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting reach a $73 million settlement with US gunmaker Remington, in a landmark deal for a country plagued by campus massacres.
Twenty-six children and teachers were rubbed out at the elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, by 20-year-old gunman Adam Lanza.
...autistic with anxiety and depression, the child of a single mother who quit teaching to take care of him as he became increasingly incapable of dealing with the outside world and a father who had recently taken a new wife.
A "settlement agreement has been executed between the parties," says a notice from lawyers for the families.
Lanza was a 20-year-old with known developmental disabilities who lived at home with his mother when he carried out the attack. His mother, a gun enthusiast, had bought him an AR-15-style Bushmaster XM15-E2S semi-automatic rifle more than two years before the shooting. Lanza murdered his mother before attacking the school, and killed himself afterward.
The lawsuit alleged that Remington and the other two defendants are culpable because they knowingly marketed a military-grade weapon that is "grossly unsuited" for civilian use, yet had become the gun most used in mass shootings.
"When it came to the military looking for the best weapon, the most lethal weapon, the most destructive weapon and the weapon that could provide our soldiers... they chose the AR-15," Joshua Koskoff, a lawyer for the Sandy Hook families, tells a presser.
The same gun, he says, "was used not by a highly-trained soldier but by a deeply troubled kid, not on a battlefield abroad but in an elementary school at home, and not to preserve freedom, but to eviscerate them."

Seriously? Name one 'military' who uses the AR-15. You can't because only a fool would use the AR-15 in any 'military' organization. Not even Joe Biden himself is that stupid.

From the New York Post: "Families of Sandy Hook victims settled their lawsuit Tuesday with Remington Arms, manufacturer of the AR-15 automatic gun used to kill 20 kids and 6 staff members in the 2012 massacre.
The nine families brought a class-action suit in 2014 against Remington Arms, which made the weapon used in the mass shooting claiming the gun-maker sought to sell the military-grade weapon to the mentally ill."
So much mis-information.

Via Bearing Arms, the National Shooting Sports Foundation explains it was the insurance companies, not the defunct manufacturer:
The decision to settle in the Soto v. Bushmaster case was not made by a member of the firearms industry. The settlement was reached between the plaintiffs and the various insurance carriers that held policies with Remington Outdoor Company (ROC), which effectively no longer exists.
As part of bankruptcy court proceedings, the assets of ROC were sold at auction in September of 2020. Remington Outdoor Company, which owned the Bushmaster brand, effectively ceased to exist as a going concern. The lawsuit, however, continued against the estate of the Remington Outdoor Company, essentially ROC’s insurers and their insurance policies in effect at the time.
The settlement also does not alter the fundamental facts of the case. The plaintiffs never produced any evidence that Bushmaster advertising had any bearing or influence over Nancy Lanza’s decision to legally purchase a Bushmaster rifle, nor on the decision of murderer Adam Lanza to steal that rifle, kill his mother in her sleep, and go on to commit the rest of his horrendous crimes. We renew our sincere sympathy for the victims of this unspeakable tragedy and all victims of violence committed through the misusing of any firearm. But the fact remains that modern sporting rifles are the most popular rifle in America with over 20 million sold to law abiding Americans and rifles, of any kind, are exceedingly rarely used in crime.
The Connecticut Supreme Court wrote in its Soto v. Bushmaster (4-3) opinion, “[T]he plaintiffs allege that the defendants’ wrongful advertising magnified the lethality of the Sandy Hook massacre by inspiring Lanza or causing him to select a more efficiently deadly weapon for his attack. Proving such a causal link at trial may prove to be a Herculean task.” NSSF believes the Court incorrectly allowed this one claim to go forward to discovery. We remain confident ROC would have prevailed if this case proceeded to trial.
Finally, this settlement orchestrated by insurance companies has no impact on the strength and efficacy of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), which remains the law of the land. PLCAA will continue to block baseless lawsuits that attempt to blame lawful industry companies for the criminal acts of third parties.
[GP] A 34-year-old father from Cobourg, Ontario died in late last year with lymphohistiocytic myocarditis in front of his two young children.
Brandon Watt, died of lymphohistiocytic myocarditis according to the initial finding of his autopsy determined by the Ontario Coroner’s Office at Kingston General Hospital.
According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, lymphocytic myocarditis is a rare form of myocarditis that can result in hospitalization for acute care. It occurs when white blood cells (lymphocytes) enter and cause inflammation of the heart muscle. This condition can occur after a virus.
The official finding of the autopsy states that his entire heart was fully attacked, for multiple months. It’s damaged top to bottom.

[IsraelTimes] Abdul Jabbar Jarrar, a top member of the terror group, has been detained repeatedly by Israel over the years.
Israeli security forces arrested a top Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®, official in the northern West Bank city of Jenin in a predawn raid on Tuesday, the Israeli military said.
Abdul-Jabbar Jarrar was detained by Israeli forces after they searched his home, Paleostinian media reported. (formerly Lew Alcindor Jarrar)
According to Paleostinian outlets, the raid to arrest Jarrar was conducted by Israeli forces, some of them in disguise.
Presumably disguised as not-Israeli forces...
That was not immediately confirmed by the Israel Defense Forces.
The IDF confirmed arresting Jarrar, but would not comment further on the raid.
Jarrar has been arrested by Israeli forces several times in recent years for his activities in the Hamas terror group. According to Paleostinian media, he was arrested in November 2020, in May 2018, and in October 2015. After the 2015 arrest, he was held without formal charges under administrative detention for nearly two years.
The overnight arrest raid came amid heightened tensions in the West Bank, after Israeli troops rubbed out a three-person al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade cell that Israel said carried out a number of shooting attacks against Israeli military positions in the West Bank in the weeks prior.
Israeli troops arrested 19 other Paleostinian suspects in raids across the West Bank overnight, the military said on Tuesday.
The killing of the three Death Eaters sparked outrage among Paleostinians, as well as in the Paleostinian Authority, which threatened to halt security cooperation with Israel over the affair.
Earlier this week, Israeli troops clashed with Paleostinians, killing one of them, in Silat al-Harithiya in the northern West Bank as they entered the village to demolish a floor of a home in which terror suspect Mahmoud Jaradat lived.
In a statement, the Israeli military said that troops had come under fire and that "soldiers fired at several armed [Paleostinians] who they identified at the scene." According to the Paleostinian Red Islamic Thingy, four Paleostinians were maimed during the festivities.
Assassinations, mostly by anonymous persons, prevail in #Syria’s #Daraa. The majority of the targeted people are former members of the Syrian opposition factions https://t.co/aHY66GHm6f
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, anonymous gunmen shot dead a paramedic in Syria’s southern city of Daraa.
Wasim al-Hamad, was targeted with bullets in Eastern Ghariyah, a local source told North Press.
Al-Hamad hailed from Mihaja town in Daraa countryside. Earlier, he worked as a nurse in several field hospitals in the city. Then, he settled his status when the Syrian government forces controlled Daraa and worked in a hospital as well as in a pharmacy in Basra al-Sham city in the east countryside of Daraa.
In the same context, local people of al-Muzayrib town, in the western countryside of Daraa, found, on Monday, body of a man identified as Bashar Ji’arah who was a former member of the Islamic State (ISIS) organization.
Hours earlier, unknown gunmen killed the young man Ahmed Abduraouf Rashdan on the road connecting Tafas city to al-Muzayrib.
Assassinations, mostly by anonymous persons, prevail in Daraa. The majority of the targeted people are former members of the Syrian opposition factions who had settled their status under the settlement process.
The Martyr Documentation Office, a local non-governmental organization that follows up the statistics of casualties and detainees in Daraa, documented 1,084 killing attempts in which 685 people, whether civilians, former fighters of the Syrian armed opposition factions who had settled their status or fighters of the Syrian government forces between the summer of 2018 and last September, were killed.
Since the second settlement process in October 2021, the Martyr Documentation Office has documented 55 killing attempts that claimed the lives of 38 persons.
[Dawn] A United Kingdom court on Tuesday acquitted MQM supremo the increasingly oversized Altaf Hussain ... The head of MQM in Pakistain, who has lived in safety and comfort in London and hasn't laid eyes on his purported homeland since about the time Caesar made corporal. Judging from the size of him, he may be a Hutt... in a trial on charges of inciting violence and encouraging terrorism in Bloody Karachi ...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous... after a majority verdict of 10-2 was returned by jurors.
*Boggle* At least he was in and out of jail and tied up in courts for years...
On the third day of deliberations at the Kingston-upon-Thames Crown Court, the jury was directed to reach a majority decision after failing to reach a unanimous verdict. After nine hours, the jury found Hussain not guilty on two counts.
Hussain was charged with "encouraging terrorism" in an incendiary speech relayed from the United Kingdom to his followers in Pakistain on Aug 22, 2016. He was arrested and released on bail before charges were filed in 2019, three years after Scotland Yard launched an investigation into speeches made in the UK that allegedly encouraged violence in Karachi.
The indictment had been split into two separate counts, both relating to the offence of "encouraging terrorism", contrary to section 1(2) of the Terrorism Act (TACT) 2006.
Hussain had pleaded not guilty "Wudn't me." to both counts.
The charge as stated by the UK police was that Hussain had "on August 22, 2016 published a speech to crowds gathered in Karachi, Pakistain which were likely to be understood by some or all of the members of the public to whom they were published as a direct or indirect encouragement to them to the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism and at the time he published them, intended them to be so encouraged, or was reckless as to whether they would be so encouraged".
The Met Police at the time had also said: "Hussain was previously arrested on 11 June [2019] on suspicion of intentionally encouraging or assisting offences contrary to Section 44 of the Serious Crime Act 2007. He was released on bail and subsequently charged as above."
Arguments in the trial had concluded last week. Although it was initially expected that Hussain would take the stand, ultimately his counsel shared with the court that he decided against it.
Justice May had said that Hussain’s decision was his right and that the jury could conclude that he did not give evidence at trial to undermine and contradict his speeches.
The MQM founder has lived in self-imposed exile in London since the early 1990s, when he applied for asylum. He was later granted British citizenship. From London, Hussain has played an active role in politics, regularly broadcasting political speeches to his followers in Karachi.

According to a statement issued by the Punjab police spokesperson, the recent arrests have taken the number of total detained suspects in the case to 112, among whom 31 are primary suspects.
The statement said the arrests were made in raids on different locations.
Initially, police had arrested 85 suspects, after Prime Minister Imran Khan ...aka The Great Khan, who is the lightweight's lightweight... had taken notice of the incident, and took six more into custody on Monday.
All the arrested suspects would be presented before an anti-terrorism court in Multan ...Home of the Multan Sultans... today (Tuesday), the police statement said.
Meanwhile, ...back at the secret hideout, Scarface Al sneeringly put his proposition to little Nell... "the Punjab IGP (inspector general of police) has directed the Multan RPO (regional police officer) and Khanewal DPO (district police officer) to personally monitor the case's probe," the statement read.
THE INCIDENT
The lynching incident had taken place on Saturday in Khanewal's Jungle Dera village, when a middle-aged man was stoned to death by a mob over alleged desecration of the Holy Koran.
The first information report of the incident, a copy of which is available with Dawn.com, was registered at Tulamba cop shoppe on the complaint of police officer Munawwar Hussain under Sections 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly of people), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 302 (intentional murder) and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of the Pakistain Penal Code and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The FIR stated that when police officials reached the village, a man accused of burning the Holy Koran was found tied up with ropes and being subjected to violence by a large mob.
The FIR said the police tried to placate the crowd but to no avail, adding that the 33 identified suspects and around 200-300 others eventually killed the man after beating him with rods, sticks and bricks.
"The suspects hung his body from a tree which spread immense fear," the FIR said, adding that the body was recovered after much effort and taken for a postmortem examination.
The FIR said the coppers were also subjected to violence by the suspects due to which a sub-inspector suffered injuries and required medical treatment.

The deceased, both members of the Civilian JTF, loaded in an Izuzu van, were heading to Gamboru from Dikwa, when the incident happened.
In 2020, Zulum’s convoy was attacked thrice by the terror group.

In 2021, it appointed Wali Sani Shuwaram, a 45-year-old as the new Leader (Wali) of ISWAP in Lake Chad.
The sect’s membership has swollen with the defection of hundreds of Boko Haram fighters under Shekau.
The terror group has caused over 100,000 deaths and displaced millions of individuals mainly in Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states.

An odd report, making one wonder what triggered it — could the Philippines be interested in a closer relationship with Israel?
[BenarNews] Philippine police uncovered a plot by the Paleostinian krazed killer group Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede, to recruit Filipinos for attacks against foreign nationals in the Southeast Asian country, an official said Tuesday.
An unnamed Filipino informant revealed information about several meetings he had in Malaysia from 2016 to 2018
...that’s not exactly recent...
with a senior Hamas operative, where they discussed the possibility of attacking Israeli citizens in the Philippines, the director of the intelligence unit at the Philippine National Police said in a statement.
[ZeroHedge] Now that Covid is winding down, the panic mongers are trying to pivot back to climate change.
The state began its investigation after Bloomberg News contacted the U.S. Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration about a cloud of invisible gas detected Jan. 21 by Kayrros SAS.
The geoanalytics firm estimates an emissions rate of 105 tons of methane an hour was needed to generate the plume, which stretched more than 90 kilometers (56 miles) across multiple parishes and was the most severe concentration of the powerful greenhouse gas spotted by the Sentinel-5P satellite in the U.S. since October
Since October? Golly.
If the leak that released the gas plume was broken down and compared with cars, it would be equivalent to the annual impact from 1,900 cars.
Seriously? We are to panic over the methane production equivalent of a single suburban neighbourhood??
The release appeared to originate within 7 km (4.3 miles) of a gas pipeline owned by Energy Transfer, LP, Kinder Morgan and Boardwalk Pipelines.
Methane is an odorless gas and appears to be colorless.[12] It does absorb visible light especially at the red end of the spectrum due to overtone bands, but the effect is only noticeable if the light path is very long. This is what gives Uranus and Neptune their blue or bluish-green colors, as light passes through their atmospheres containing methane and is then scattered back out.
[BBC] In the 19th Century, a peculiar paranoia gripped the British East India Company: were the Indian people using flatbreads to transmit cryptic messages?
Something perplexing began in India in 1857.
Chapatis – thin pancakes of unleavened bread, traditionally cooked on a griddle – started making their way from village to village. A messenger would appear with the flatbread, and hand it over to the headman of a village. The headman would then dispatch a fresh batch on to the next village, and so on and so on.
In such a fashion, the chapatis perambulated around north India, all the way from the principality of Indore, in what is now the central state of Madhya Pradesh, to the city of Gwalior in north of the state. They found their way to Rohilkhand, in what is now the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, through the region that was once the historical kingdom of Awadh and further south to Allahabad, which is now known as Prayagraj, also in Uttar Pradesh. It was estimated by British military leaders that the chapatis were travelling up to 160-200 miles a night, a speed that would have outstripped the mail service at the time. Sometimes, the chapatis were accompanied by a lotus flowers, sometimes goat flesh, but mostly it was just chapatis, alone and unencumbered.

[MoscowPost] The State Duma supported sending an appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin on recognizing the independence of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, reports The Moscow Post correspondent.
As follows from the voting data of the lower house of parliament, the majority of deputies supported sending an appeal to recognize the independence of the republics of Donetsk and Lugansk to the head of state. According to State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, the appeal is planned to be sent immediately.
Earlier, two versions of the appeal were sent to the State Duma for consideration. The first one, presented by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, involves sending an appeal to Vladimir Putin about the need to recognize the independence of the self-proclaimed republics. The second option is similar, but the recognition of the independence of states can occur only after consultations with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is necessary to involve the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to comply with international agreements, including the Minsk agreements.
It is reported that the second version of the appeal was put to the vote of parliamentarians.
Recall, on January 19, representatives of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation published a draft appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to consider the recognition of the self-proclaimed DNR and LNR as independent states. It is also necessary to negotiate with these countries to create interstate relations and regulate all aspects of mutual assistance. The faction expects serious consideration of the initiative.
[JustTheNews] President Joe Biden on Monday named Democratic mega-donor Carrin F. Patman as his nominee for ambassador to Iceland, seemingly continuing the trend of putting forward inexperienced donors into diplomatic positions.
Brett Bruen, a former U.S. diplomat and White House Global Engagement Director under President Barack Obama, warned that Biden is appointing "amateur diplomats" for important roles after Democratic donor Jane Hartley was nominated to be U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom.
That’s a long-standing American tradition, much to the frustration of the permanent State Department staff, which would vastly prefer that their senior members got the job as a pre-retirement perk. Some of the donors and celebrities do grow into the role, like Shirley Temple Black, while others, like JFK’s dad, cause problems their entire tenure.
Patman currently serves as chair of the Harris County, Texas, Metropolitan Transit Authority. She previously was a partner of the international law firm Bracewell LLP. The Houston Chronicle reports that she is the daughter and granddaughter of Democratic politicians.
She told the Chronicle that she has picked up "just a little" Icelandic language since Biden made his announcement.
"I do think being chair of Metro has prepared me for a diplomatic role," Patman joked to the outlet.
Data from the non-profit Open Secrets shows that Patman has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to Democratic political causes.

Shafaq News/ On Tuesday, a joint Iraqi force killed ISIS members in the Hemrin Mountains in Saladin Governorate.
The Security Media Cell said that the air forces struck intensively an ISIS hideout which resulted in the death of two terrorists.
In 2017, Iraq declared final victory over ISIS after Iraqi forces drove its last remnants from the country, the militant group captured about a third of Iraq's territory.
The war has had a devastating impact on the areas previously controlled by the militants. About 3.2 million people remain displaced.
Yet, ISIS still has sleeper cells in several Iraqi Governorates.
Recently, the terrorist organization has become more active, as sleeper cells target civilians and security forces, especially in the governorates of Kirkuk, Saladin, and Diyala, known as "the Triangle of Death."

[ColonelCassad] State Duma deputy and actor Dmitry Pevtsov spoke critically about modern Russians who want rights and freedoms and are not ready to die "for the tsar and Stalin." According to him, "our true Russian worldview" has been turned upside down.
"Our ancestors, let me remind you, did not die for rights and freedom, but for the tsar, Fatherland and faith,” a member of the New People faction recalled during the meeting. According to him, sometimes they did this “for the Motherland and Stalin.” The parliamentarian added that "for several decades they have been actively working with our children," who are being turned into Russophobes. He also noted that Ukraine has already raised "a whole generation of Russophobes." His speech was recorded on the parliamentary channel Duma TV. war of good and evil, Lord and devil.
Earlier, Pevtsov said that after the end of his term in the State Duma, he intends to return to the theater stage. He admitted that he had not been called to the cinema for a long time. Says Rozhin:
Given that Comrade Stalin died in 1953 (and is not going to get up yet), it would be strange to demand to die for him in 2022, especially considering that the system he created, for which they fought and died, was dismantled long ago.
They got rid of the tsar even earlier (we don’t take into account modern costumed clowns). Therefore, it remains as before to sigh about the absence of a meaningful ideology for which one could fight and die.
[Forbes] The rout has been particularly bad for Covid-19-related stocks in recent weeks, says Bank of America analyst Geoff Meacham, who points out pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, down 2% Monday, has also been caught in the mix despite the promise of its Covid antiviral pill after it warned in its fourth-quarter earnings report that vaccine sales will decelerate this year.
With Covid cases plummeting from all-time highs, experts have increasingly questioned whether vaccines will be a sustainable revenue stream in the years to come, and adding to the concerns, a study released Friday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed Moderna and Pfizer booster shots lost substantial effectiveness after about four months. Blue states dropping the mask mandate should have been a clue the gravy train is over, at least until Covid 22, 23, ... hit

huh?
It's almost as if the usual actors are playing pump and dump with these neo-medical companies and/or their nee-medical subsidiaries that they spun for handling covid shots...
so weird and unexpected.
NOT!

You can drop the mask mandates and still have yearly Covid shots the way we have yearly Flu shots. It seems a subscription revenue stream that could go on for a long time.
Maybe the stockmarket thinks the Covid story is going to collapse entirely and the big three vaccine makers might be culpable in some way.

Moderno's stock price today, about 150 is still considerably above where it was before the pandemic
it was below 50 in the spring of 2020 and rose to about 90 just before announcing the vaccine's approval for emergency use.
the over 400/share they had in late summer 2021+ was based, I think, on the theory that the wealthy countries would be coerced into buying all the people in the 3rd world multiple vaccinations.

[Babylon Bee] Chinese President Xi Jinping has reportedly looked on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's handling of Canadian protesters with surprise, describing it as "monstrous" and "heavy-handed."
"I'm shocked by Trudeau's horrific mistreatment of his own people," said President Xi Jinping while helping himself to a jar of honey. "He's being very heavy-handed with these protesters. It's shameful!"
Xi, who polices his own people for thought crimes, suggested that Trudeau try a more subtle approach. "I'm constantly throwing people in prison," he said. "But I do so discreetly while silencing anyone who speaks of it."
"Please understand," he continued. "I believe he should throw them all in camps to make shoes for the Americans. But he's openly criticizing them—giving their cause a voice."
"It's a rookie move."
Trudeau, who has referred to people sitting in their trucks as violent protesters sieging the city, has claimed that he only desires to crush his citizens under the jackboot of tyranny, revel in their cries of anguish, and scatter their wasted corpses to the wind.
"I don't see what's so heavy-handed about that," said Trudeau.

A Syrian army soldier has died and 11 others have been wounded after an #explosivedevice planted in a military transport bus goes off in #Damascus, the state media reports.https://t.co/K5z05hHeBN
A Syrian army soldier was killed, and 11 others were wounded when an explosive device planted in a military transport bus went off in Damascus on Tuesday, state media reported, quoting a military source.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for what was a rare bombing in the Syrian capital and which the report said happened at 7:25 a.m., the report said.
A decade of conflict in Syria has killed hundreds of thousands of people and left the country fractured.
However, attacks in Damascus have been rare since the army crushed rebel enclaves around the city with backing from Russia and Iran-backed forces in 2018. Helped by his allies, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad now controls most of the country.

ALEPPO NORTHERN COUTNRYSIDE, Syria (North Press) – A child was injured on Tuesday evening when the Turkish forces and the affiliated armed opposition factions bombed the center of the city of Tel Rifaat in the northern countryside of Aleppo with several missiles.
The 8-year-old child, Zilan Arif Qassim, was injured due to the Turkish indiscriminate shelling while heading towards the basements to escape the shelling. She was transported to Fafin Hospital.
On Tuesday afternoon, the center of the city of Tel Rifaat and its surroundings were hit with about 20 missiles by the Turkish forces, resulting in the injury of 5 children as well as causing material damage to civilians’ property.
Several villages in the northern countryside of Aleppo were bombed by the Turkish forces and opposition factions supported by them on Tuesday evening.

Syrian government forces accompanied by Russian forces are running the town of Tel Rifaat and its vicinities, where their posts have been deployed since 2018
[American Wire] As the bombshell Durham report that Donald Trump was spied on both as a candidate and a sitting president continues to resonate in the political world, even though much of the complicit media is doing it’s best to ignore what may prove to be the greatest national security scandal in modern history, there are signs that it may actually lead to some level of accountability — a rare occurrence in Washington, D.C.
Trump responded to the report from Special Counsel John Durham that Hillary Clinton’s campaign hiring someone to hack into his White House and Trump Tower servers to call it "a far bigger crime than Watergate," and Kash Patel, the former chief of staff to the Acting United States Secretary of Defense, was in agreement, appearing n Newsmax TV Monday night to call it the "biggest political scandal and criminal scandal in U.S. history."
"A private entity, on behalf of a political opponent, Hillary Clinton, paid for access to the entire White House compound to infiltrate the servers of not just the office of the president, the national security council, a national economic council, the trade council and the office of the vice president of the United States," Patel said.
Patel also believes that Durham is going "to deliver," dropping another bombshell of sorts in saying that a Durham grand jury has interviewed two dozen people already, "to include CIA case officers, FBI agents and directors, leadership in the Clinton campaign cycle."
Citing a source familiar with the Durham probe, Fox News reported Monday that the investigation has "accelerated," and that more people are "cooperating" and coming before the federal grand jury than has previously been reported.
Durham is running a "very professional" investigation with few leaks, the source said, a striking difference to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of the Russian collusion hoax.
"Durham does this right and keeps it a secret," the individual said, adding that there has been "much more activity" in Durham’s investigation "than has been visible to the public."
Newsmax host Greg Kelly noted that the mainstream media is pretty much ignoring the story, but Patel replied that the story will be "forced" on them due to its magnitude.

/\ These various "foundations" have been money laundering conduits for clandestine activities for many years. Tax avoidance, regime changes, criminal activities, and payoffs to name just a few. The anonymity of donors is the key.
I suspect Epstein and Maxwell's activities on Little St James Island, his unexplained wealth, Clinton connection, memory holed foreign visitor rosters, along with his eventual demise
point to foundation arrangements.

This is far worse than anything I've seen in my lifetime. I hope Durham gets to the bottom of this phony, cooked-up Russia Gate and cleans out the rat's nest that caused this.
This doesn't address the rigged and stolen 2020 election.
As long as I'm wishing, I'd like to get to the bottom of the Seth Rich and Epstein murders.

[JustTheNews] Microsoft founder has whitewashed Chinese censorship of the internet and invested in industries essential to the Chinese military-industrial complex, from AI to nuclear power, according to new book.
Bill Gates is one of the world's richest men, rightly recognized as a visionary who helped build a massive technology industry. He has moved into the world of philanthropy to pursue support for some notable causes. He also has a deeply troubling relationship with the Chinese regime.
No one can blame a corporate executive for being enticed by the Chinese market's opportunities. From the earliest days of the internet, China, with approximately four times the population of the United States, has been seen as a lucrative market for the tech industry. You can bet Bill Gates saw it, too.
But Gates has cooperated with the regime in ways that other tech titans have not. He has lent credence to the claims of the Chinese Communist Party and been rewarded with access, favors, and titles. He has done the bidding of the regime in the tech world and has apologized or made excuses for its aberrant activities. On top of all that, he has invested in companies attached to Beijing's military-industrial complex.
Gates appears to have always underestimated the repressive nature of the CCP. His relentless techno-optimism has made him an easy mark. He has expressed naive attitudes about the role of technology in that repression. In 1995, at the dawn of the broader internet age, he suggested that Chinese efforts to censor the web would fail. Gates claimed that Chinese officials would literally need to have someone looking over everyone's shoulder to implement full internet access and maintain censorship.
Of course, Beijing had a censorship system in place just two years later. Even after China erected what came to be known as the "Great Firewall," Gates still insisted that censorship was too hard to erect and would not work. In 2008, he told students at Stanford University: "I don't see any risk in the world at large that someone will restrict free content flow on the internet," he told them. "You cannot control the internet."
It was a bold statement that proved both inaccurate and disingenuous. At that point, Microsoft had already been helping the regime censor content for several years.
[Dawn] The Factory Area police lodged a case against 150-200 ’attackers’ in the wake of death of a Christian boy here on Monday. The police acted after residents of Walton Road allegedly tortured Pervez Masih following a minor dispute of standing in the street.
Police said Pervez suffered critical head injuries and died in hospital.
Police have mounted security in the area to defuse tension when members of the Christian community took to the street against the attack.
Police have registered a murder case against 150-200 ’attackers’ after consulting a team of lawyers of the Christian community. The complainant said some of the attackers were also holding weapons and fired warning shots.
Cantt division operation SP Esa Sukhera made it clear that it was a scuffle incident between the two sides and had nothing to do with religion.
“Harumph! Nothing to do with anti-Christian hate by the mob. Ha-Rumph!! Just 200 boys being boys, y’know.”
He said on Sunday night a scuffle broke out between some members of the Christian community and locals.
The Christians not being local, donchaknow.
Consequently, Sobal Masih got injured and the Factory Area started the paperwork but haven't done much else against the attackers, he said adding the suspects nurtured a grudge against them for reporting the matter to the police and again attacked some relatives of the Christians on Monday.
During the attack, the SP said Pervez Masih suffered critical head injuries and died later in a local hospital which prompted his relatives to lodge a protest.
"We responded timely, engaged the elders of the Christian community and defused the tension," Esa Sukhera said adding that the police raided and arrested one of the prime suspects nominated in the FIR. He said teams had been sent to the area for the arrest of other attackers.
[Dawn] Police with the help of area notables foiled on Monday a lynching attempt and rescued a man from a mob over alleged blasphemy ...the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence to a deity, or sacred objects, or toward something considered sacred or inviolable. Some religions consider it to be a crime. In Pakistain you can commit blasphemy by looking cross-eyed at a Koran... and shifted him to some undisclosed location.
According to complainant, after Isha prayers he saw a man was burning pages of the the Holy Koran in front of a mosque in Alipur tehsil near Jagmal area. He said he locked the suspect in a room and called police 15.
Soon a mob gathered there but a heavy contingent of police reached the spot, broke the lock and took the suspect into custody.
District Police Officer Mohammad Tariq Wilayat took notice of the incident and ordered shifting of the suspect to some safe place.
Alipur Saddar police have started the paperwork but haven't done much else against the suspect under section 295B of PPC and sealed the first information report.
Dawn has learnt that a group of 25 to 30 people came to the cop shoppe and found no one there.
SHO Ghulam Mujtaba said the suspect seemed to be mentally deranged; however, "we are waiting for a medical report."

"People who cannot deny anything I have written until now think they can silence me with injustice," he added.
Hours later, the pair were released from prison, their lawyer Huseyin Ersoz told AFP.
"And freedom has come. Just now!" the lawyer also tweeted, sharing a picture with the freed journalists.
Ottoman Turkish media said Kilinc, who was nabbed You have the right to remain silent... Tuesday in the western province of Manisa after undergoing a health check, was also expected to walk free.

AZAZ, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, one young man and a child were injured as an IED placed inside a garbage bin detonated in the middle of Azaz city in the northern countryside of Aleppo, north Syria.
The IED blew up near the transportation facility, which is run by the local council of Azaz, an eyewitness told North Press.
The young man and the child had minor injuries.
As a consequence, military forces were deployed in the city and the checkpoints increased the checking process, the eyewitness said.
On January 13, one member of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) was killed and two other fighters were injured as an IED detonated in their vehicle in Azaz.
Since July 2012, Azaz and the surrounding villages, north of Aleppo, have been under the control of the Turkish-backed Syrian armed opposition factions. Successive bombings and kidnapping take place frequently in the city amid inability of the Syrian opposition factions to control security.
[OneIndia] India has once again hit out at the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) after it raised the hijab row in India. New Delhi accused the OIC of worming with a communal mindset. India also said that the organization has been hijacked by vested interests.
"We have noted yet another motivated and misleading statement from the general secretariat of the OIC on matters pertaining to India. Issues in India are considered and resolved in accordance with our constitutional framework and mechanisms, as well as democratic ethos and polity," Arindam Bagchi, spokesperson external affairs ministry said.
The OIC has been interfering in India's affairs for long now. India enhanced ties with Saudi Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Fifteen of the nineteen WTC hijackers were Saudis, and most major jihadi commanders were Saudis, to include Osama bin Laden. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman quietly folded that tent in 2016, doing terrible things to the guys running it, and has since been dragging the kingdom into the current century... and the United Arab Emirates, following which Pakistain turned to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund... to drum up anti-India narratives.
Turkey according to an Intelligence Bureau report has adopted a three pronged approach against India.
They include employing Kashmiri journalists to put out a false narrative, dole out scholarships so that radicalisation can take place at educational institutes and fund NGOs to influence Indian Moslems on foreign policy which is detrimental to India's interests.
An OSINT report by the Disinfo Lab speaks in detail about how a boycott campaign was launched last year September by the Moslem Brüderbund (MB) nexus against India as well as targeting Saudi Arabia and UAE apart from La Belle France.
The campaign was supported by the troll factories of Turkey and Pakistain. It was the first open campaign by MB through the new emerging nexus of Qatar ...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi... -Turkey-Pakistain, dubbed as QTPi. It appears as a strength test for Moslem Brüderbund, as it put several of the news media from its arsenal to use, including the jewel Al Jazeera, risking their credibility. The sheer resource MB-led QTPi deployed in this fake news-driven propaganda made it abundantly clear that not only Brotherhood has arrived in India, but it also intends to stay, the report said.
An Intelligence Bureau official tells Oneindia that earlier Pakistain used to rely on the UAE and Saudi Arabia to drum up an anti-India narrative. However India's foreign policy has shifted and New Delhi has close allies in Saudi and the UAE, which has made Pakistain shift focus to Turkey, the official also said.

Granted that there's a lot of crime, this is a significant escalation in self-defense capabilities.
[WWLtv] NEW ORLEANS — [Random citizen] had just gone back inside from watching Krewe du Vieux when he says he saw the bright light from a flame thrower out his back window.
You can see by the singed leaves of a fern hanging from the balcony where the flames touched just how close they got to a catastrophic accident.
And judging by Mayor Cantrell’s reaction when we told her what happened, this is something the city will be taking seriously. Save it to repel attempted car jackings, will ya? "Get out of the car or I'm going to..." WHOOOSH
"That’s the last place they need to do that," said Mayor Cantrell.
At the time of Monday’s Mardi Gras safety meeting neither she nor NOFD Fire Chief Roman Nelson knew anything about what happened.
He too acknowledged the dangers, "Definitely on a balcony in the quarter is just not a good idea and probably illegal I would think," said Chief Nelson.

[Korrespondent] Law enforcement officials say that the cyber attack is very powerful, it has never happened before.
In the West, Ukraine has been warned of a Russian offensive since 16 February. US national security adviser Jake Sullivan said that Russian aggression could begin, including with a cyber attack. And on Tuesday, February 15, the websites of Ukrainian banks and ministries experienced an unprecedented cyber attack.
PRIVAT AND OSCHAD
Currently, it is known about the attack on Privatbank and Oschadbank, as well as on the Ministry of Defense and the website of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Users report that some do not have Internet banking, others can log in, but cannot conduct transactions.
PrivatBank later stated that the bank managed to eliminate the consequences of the DDOS attack and resume the stable operation of the systems.
Services were down for one hour. At the same time, the traffic was intense, so this created additional complications with access to services.
"We inform you that we managed to eliminate the consequences of the DDOS attack and resume the stable operation of the systems," Privat said. At the same time, users continue to complain about access problems.
"We mean that there is a possibility of further attacks, so our IT team is doing everything possible to counter them properly," the state bank concluded.
The State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection has confirmed information about a powerful DDOS attack on a number of Ukrainian information resources. The working group is currently taking all necessary measures to counter and localize cyber attacks.
ONCE A MONTH
On the night of January 14, hackers hacked into several government websites, in particular the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Diya portal, etc., and published their message in three languages - Ukrainian, Russian and Polish.
RUSSIAN TRACE
The government said the attack was linked to an escalation from Russia. Hacking actions against Ukrainian government agencies can also be part of a psychological attack on Ukrainians.
The Russian trace is also indicated by the chronology of the spread of the news. And then it was actively distributed by Russian publications.
In particular, one of the first reports about the attack was an article in the Russian pro-government publication RIA around 4 am (Kyiv time).
Government experts explained that the use of sensitive topics from the history of Polish-Ukrainian relations was to cover the trail of Russian hackers.
However, the text in Polish contains stylistic inaccuracies and lexical errors, which were confirmed to Ukrainian cyber-specialists by Polish colleagues.
The center emphasized that the attack on the government portals of Ukraine can be interpreted as one of the examples of Russian aggression against the state of Ukraine. Therefore, the center hopes for an early imposition of sanctions on the Russian structures associated with the attack.

[TME] I am trying to share the optimism of some experts who interpret the withdrawal of Russian troops from the border with Ukraine (yes, it was not named in the press release of the Ministry of Defense, but was assumed between the lines) as a diplomatic victory. And I can't. Say, with our tough position, we achieved an equal dialogue and even “bent Zelensky”, who the day before promised Chancellor Scholz to present a draft constitutional reform, laws on the special status of Donbass and local elections.
Small victory. Firstly, I don’t doubt for a second that these projects will directly contradict the letter of the Minsk Agreements. On the other hand, the withdrawal of Russian troops can be perceived both in Ukraine and in the West as a whole as a weakness, a concession that Moscow made against the backdrop of unprecedented information pressure. So, there were very good reasons behind it.
Secondly, Moscow has not come a step closer to the main goal of its "ultimatum" - no one has yet given us security guarantees. Although talk about Ukraine's non-entry into NATO went more actively. The British Deputy Minister of Defense openly stated that London would not mind if Ukraine itself did not want to join the alliance. Scholz once again said in Kiev that the entry of the Independent into the bloc was not on the agenda. Zelenskiy complained that some countries were hinting to him that he should give up his dream of NATO membership.
Nevertheless, the return of units that served as a passive containment of hotheads in Kiev is fraught with an aggravation on the demarcation line in Donbass. Where all this militaristic hysteria was viewed on the one hand with apprehension, and on the other with hope. Maybe Russia will finally take us under protection? I would not like to deceive the expectation of our people, which has already dragged on for eight years.
The General Staff understands this very well even without me. And, I hope, they foresaw all the negative scenarios, leaving the possibility of prompt response. And she, this possibility, should be obvious to the enemy, who is not distinguished by constancy, firmness of speech and commitment.
Therefore, the withdrawal of troops is, of course, a step towards de-escalation. Now in Kiev they will call him a great victory. The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has already announced the victory of diplomacy. But still, they must feel the threat posed by Russia. For tone.

[REGNUM] The shelling of the outskirts of the village of Zaichenko (DPR) was carried out by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the evening of February 15, according to the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the ceasefire regime.
Ukrainian fighters fired from grenade launchers, firing three shells. They fired from the direction of the village of Vodiane, east of Mariupol.
Recall that during the day on February 14, the Armed Forces of Ukraine fired on the DPR four times. In the LPR today, February 15, a serviceman was killed under fire from Ukrainian militants.
Related Putin called Ukraine's actions against Donbass a genocide
[REGNUM] The way Ukraine behaves towards the republics of Donbass is genocide, Russian President Vladimir Putin told reporters on February 15 following a meeting with German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz .
"Let me just add that, according to our estimates, what is happening in the Donbass today is genocide."
Regarding the initiative of the State Duma deputies to recognize the DPR and LPR, the President noted the following:
"Deputies of parliament, just like in any country, in Russia are guided by public opinion. They are guided by the opinion of their voters, and they subtly feel it. And in this regard, it is quite obvious: in our country, the vast majority of people sympathize with the inhabitants of Donbass, support them and hope that the situation there will radically change for the better for them.
"I will proceed from the premise that we must do everything to solve the problems of Donbass, but to do this, as Mr. Federal Chancellor also said, primarily based on the opportunities for implementing the Minsk agreements that have not been fully realized. And we very much hope that our partners - both overseas and in Europe, primarily the Federal Republic and France - will have a corresponding influence on the current Kiev authorities, and this solution will be found."
Anton Mikuzhis, an officer of the press service of the LPR People's Militia, told about this at a briefing.
"On February 14, at the positions of the 57th brigade near the settlement of Trekhizbenka, a verbal conflict between militants of the 34th Motorized Rifle Battalion, who were in a state of intoxication, escalated into a fight, during which one of them opened fire from his machine gun.
As a result of the incident, one militant of the 57th brigade received gunshot wounds and was taken to a hospital in the village of Severodonetsk," he said.
The brigade command traditionally tries to hide information about such incidents. It agreed with the Ukrainian observers at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire (JCCC) in the credentials of a fictitious shelling. They provided a summary in which they drew shelling from the LPR.
Now the wounded soldier has become a "hero" who suffered while defending the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
[FOX] A Louisiana mom and Air Force veteran pulled a gun on a man who tried to get into her car while she was sitting in gridlocked traffic with her 2-year-old son.
"You shouldn't have to navigate your own city like a war zone. It's un-American," Charise Taylor, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, told WDSU. "The crime is out of control and it's terrifying. At this point, having to use the same tactics in an American city that you use in Iraq and Afghanistan simply to navigate through the city, it's scary, and I'm not the only mom feeling this way."
Taylor said she was on her way to pick up her husband on Friday in New Orleans when she got stuck in traffic on Interstate 10. While navigating the backup, a group of people in a truck motioned to her to let them into her lane. She let them in, but soon after a man came up to her passenger door and began pulling on the handle.
"So, as he comes up he's close, and he's pretty aggressive trying to get the car door open, makes eye contact with me, he's still trying to get it open a couple times," Taylor said.
She picked up her gun and recalled warning him: "It’s locked and loaded."
The suspect ran off and she was not forced to fire her weapon - though she said she was ready to do so in order to protect her son.
"The emotions honestly your body takes in a different form. I stayed in my body of course, but everything transformed. I'm trained to do this. I've gone to classes. I'm prior military. If I have to pull this trigger, that's what I have to do," Taylor said.

[Regnum] It is the decree of Emperor Paul I of February 14, 1800 that should be considered the date of the acceptance of the Talysh Khanate into Russian citizenship.
February 14, 2022 marks 222 years since the Talysh Khanate accepted the Russian protectorate. This event was of tremendous importance in the fate of the Talysh people, and therefore we consider it our duty to briefly describe the history of this historical process.
The Talysh Khanate, restored at the end of the 17th century and became independent after the death of the ruler of Iran, Nadir Shah, at the end of the 18th century faced a new threat in the face of the Qajars. The founder of the dynasty, Aga Mohammed Shah Qajar, immediately after the departure of the Russian troops of General V. A. Zubov from the Caspian Sea in the spring of 1797, invaded Transcaucasia through Karabakh.
The city-fortress of Shusha, the capital of the Karabakh khanate, was captured, but the further subjugation of the Transcaucasian khanates was prevented by the assassination of Agha Mohammed Shah in the same Shusha as a result of a conspiracy of the Iranian nobility.
The new Shahinshah Fath Ali Shah already in 1798 demanded obedience from the ruler of the Talysh Khanate, Mir Mustafa Khan. Anticipating such a development of events, Mir Mustafa Khan sent his ambassador Mirza Muhammad-bek to St. Petersburg in the autumn of 1797 with a request for military assistance and the acceptance of Talysh into Russian citizenship. In one of his letters he wrote:
"I swear before the almighty and holy God, the great prophet Magomed and the holy Koran that I want and will be with my descendants and the people subject to me in the exact possession of the faithful subject of the All-Russian Imperial Throne."
By decree of Emperor Paul I of February 14, 1800, the Russian government took the Talysh Khanate under its protection. By tsarist decree, Russia took over the protection of both land and sea borders of the Talysh state, in accordance with which military units were sent. In fact, this document is the first diplomatic and international act on the accession of Talysh to Russia, concluded directly with the Talysh ruler.
In 1801, Emperor Alexander I ascended the Russian throne. The Talysh Khan, together with the Baku and Derbent khans, sent an ambassador to St. Petersburg with gifts and congratulations to the new tsar. Emperor Alexander I, in order to organize an anti-Iranian military-political alliance, plans to create a federation of the Muslim khanates of Eastern Transcaucasia and Dagestan under the general control of the Russian tsar.
For this purpose, in December 1802, between the ambassadors of the Muslim khanates of Eastern Transcaucasia and Dagestan and the Russian government delegation, the Treaty of St. George was signed, which was clearly aimed at protecting the borders of the Talysh Khanate and others from any encroachment by the Qajar government of Iran. In all internal matters of the rulers, autonomy was implied.
Iran refused to recognize the transfer of the Talysh Khanate to Russian citizenship, and as a result of the ensuing First Russian-Persian War of 1804-1813, which ended with the Gulistan Peace Treaty, the territory of the Khanate was divided between the two empires. The division of the khanate was also due to the strong inclusion of its territory deep into Iran, which greatly worried not only the latter, but also Great Britain, which very painfully perceived any desire of Russia in a southerly direction.
The Turkmenchay Peace Treaty, which marked the end of the Second Russian-Persian War of 1826-1828, confirmed the provisions of the Gulistan Peace Treaty regarding the division of Talish.
It is the decree of Emperor Paul I of February 14, 1800 that should be considered the date of the acceptance of the Talysh Khanate into Russian citizenship. The internal autonomy of Talysh was preserved until the administrative reform of 1840.

The struggle against the Social Revolutionaries and White Czechs, attempts to organize a coup within the RSFSR, a sharp deterioration in relations with the Entente countries in the spring and summer of 1918 - these were not the only problems of the Soviet government.

[DW] Western powers are reassessing their mission to Mali amid deteriorating relations with the country's military junta. European and African Union ...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful... leaders are set to meet later this week for talks.
French President Emmanuel Macron will meet with European allies on Wednesday to discuss his country's military engagement in the West African nation of Mali. Government officials in Gay Paree say Macron will make a definitive statement on the matter "shortly after" the meeting. Observers expect an announcement late Wednesday or Thursday.

African nations never miss an opportunity to miss an oppurtunity to become modern, civilized nations. They'll remain violent Third World shitholes for another 200 years. Western nations will continue to waste billions of dollars trying to civilize people who have no desire to be civilized.
