Russian troops in Ukraine are surrendering, sabotaging their own vehicles, Pentagon officials say
[The Week] Russia's halting progress in its invasion of Ukraine has puzzled Western observers and analysts, but a senior Pentagon official told The New York Times on Tuesday that Russia's forces, plagued by low morale and food and fuel shortages, have suffered mass surrenders and self-sabotage by conscripts who "deliberately punched holes in their vehicles' gas tanks, presumably to avoid combat."

The Economist's Shashank Josh said a Pentagon source told him "with certainty" that Russians are sabotaging their own military vehicles.

#2  my recollection is that about a decade ago they realized this problem and lengthened the conscription period and increased salaries but then some new people got into power and shortened the conscription period to one year (it probably takes at least 10 months to learn the skills to handle some of their hardware) and let salaries go flat

#8  Hey, let's make a deal: One of us will tell you a Joe Biden joke, and you tell us a Vlad Putin joke.

Here's a Joe Biden joke:

In 1992 while being interviewed by MTV, Bill Clinton was asked if he wore boxers or briefs? Clinton replied, "Boxers"

In 2008 US magazine asked Obama, "Boxers or briefs"? Obama declined to answer the question.

Last week AARP asked Joe Biden, "Boxers or briefs"? Biden responded, "Depends".

Your turn. And don't tell us you don't know any Vlad Putin jokes.

#16  OK, here's one set in 1950's Moscow:

Guy buys a parrot and the parrot lives in the guy's apartment for a few months. But then the parrot vanishes.

Guy runs down to the nearest state security office and says, "My parrot is missing!"

Security guy says, "Comrade, that is a matter for the police, not for state security."

Guy says "I know that! But I'm here to denounce anything that parrot says!"

#18  I simply do not believe Russians stopped making jokes after Breshnev. But I can understand if you don't want to tell Putin jokes in a public place. (psst. you can do it anonymously!)

Joke: Breshnev's mom is visiting and he is showing off the perks that come with the job - the wood-paneled office, the nice apartment, the dacha, the black Mercedes. Mom is getting more and more nervous. Finally, she blurts out," Lyonya, this is all very nice but what if the Communists come back?"

Rapper Yngx 17 run over, killed by trailer after altercation with driver
[MSN] A Los Angeles hip-hop artist and rapper was killed Monday after he was run over and pinned beneath a trailer following an altercation with a driver in North Hollywood, authorities said.

Taariq Grant, 28, of Los Angeles, whose performing name is Yngx 17, was identified by the Los Angeles County coroner's office as the man killed.

Los Angeles police said a pedestrian and a driver who was hauling a trailer engaged in a "brief verbal altercation" at Riverside Drive and Camarillo Street about 3:40 p.m., LAPD spokesperson Lizeth Lomeli said.

The pedestrian then climbed atop the trailer, which crashed into a concrete divider, causing him to fall and become trapped beneath its wheels, police said.

First-responders pronounced the man, who was later identified as Grant, dead at the scene. A family member on Tuesday confirmed Grant's death and his musical recording work as Yngx 17.

#4  I believe the Y is actually a thorn, as in Old English, and is pronounced as a "th" Like "Ye Old Tavern". Perhaps young Taariq was inspired by Renaissance poetry.

Pity about the flatness. You can usually fix that with Auto-Tune.

Ukraine: My tuppence worth
[IrishSavant] Well if you’re like me you’ve been taken aback by the scale and comprehensiveness of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It’s the boy who cried wolf all over again I suppose. However, a deeper analysis makes Putin’s move more understandable. I hadn’t been aware that Ukraine has become a de facto if not de jure NATO member, an absolute red line for Russia as Putin had made clear on numerous occasions. As he has pointed out the Ukrainian military control system has already been integrated into NATO and a network of airfields upgraded with US help which enables the rapid transportation of very large numbers of troops. Ukraine’s airspace is open to flights by US strategic and reconnaissance aircraft and drones that conduct surveillance over Russian territory. He added that the US-built Maritime Operations Centre in Ochakov makes it possible to support activity by NATO warships, including the use of precision weapons, against the Russian Black Sea Fleet and its supporting infrastructure.

Since the ZOG
... Zionist Occupation Government, the sometimes white supremacist idea that Jews control the world. I looked it up, so now we all know...
coup in 2014 that toppled Ukraine’s elected government and installed a largely Jewish regime in its place Russia has fully supported the Minsk agreement which provides the two eastern republics with political autonomy. But the Ukrainian regime, egged on by its American ZOG puppeteers, has ignored the agreement. In the interim the country has become ZATOised,
... oooooh, clever!
subjecting the Donbass region to endless blockades, rocket attacks and shelling. As recorded by the OECD on the day before Russia invaded Kiev fired over 1,500 shells on villages in Donetsk and Luganask. Then there’s the US-backed biological warfare laboratories which have been established throughout Ukraine. Russia says the final straw was Zelensky’s declared intention to restore Ukraine as a nuclear power. In any event this is just the culmination of an unending stream of hostile actions and propaganda against Russia and Putin personally. The penny — kopek — has finally dropped that any form of partnership with the ZATO countries is futile.

A few more thoughts: One of the many possible downside of the Russian action is the reinforcement of Bear Fear in neighbouring countries. This is a great pity because I had harboured (faint) hopes that this block, loosely allied with Russia would provide an obstacle to globo-homo-schlomo.
Truly, this writer is a genius with words.
Consider this recent warning from Putin: "Properly speaking, the attempts to use us in their own interests never ceased until quite recently: they sought to destroy our traditional values and force on us their false values that would erode us, our people from within, the attitudes they have been aggressively imposing on their countries, attitudes that are directly leading to degradation and degeneration, because they are contrary to human nature." Alas, such an alliance seems impossible for the foreseeable future.

Here’s another thought. The descendants of those who implemented the holodomor have mobilised the descendants of the holodomor victims to warfare against their fellow Slavic Christians. Some achievement. But bear in mind what General Smedly Butler said, "all wars are bankers’ wars". Then there’s the stomach-churning hypocrisy and double-standards of Western media and governments. Bleating about international law, peaceful resolution of disputes and respect for existing borders. This from the destroyers of Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen and the territorial integrity of Serbia and who support the ongoing warfare and land-grabbing of Israel.

Final thought: Nobody really knows how this will play out. For sure various stakeholders have their plans and believe they know the outcome but history shows us that wars, once started, are devilishly difficult to control. How many ’limited operations’ have turned out to be years-long orgies of slaughter and destruction? And the current conflict bears chilling resonance with the End-Of-Days prophecy in the Book Of Daniel where the kings of the north and south engage in a cataclysmic final battle.

But let us take heart. David Lammy, Britain’s Stupidest Man (he thought Hitler’s first name was ’Heil’ and that Mary Antoinette was a famous scientist) has been wheeled in to provide his insight and to develop a solution. Which he’ll do as soon as he’s able to find Ukraine on the map.

Lexington historian looking to have marker erected to honor local World War II hero
[The Dispatch] Not many in the area are aware that one of the most celebrated heroes from World War II was from Lexington, but hopefully that is about to change.

Local historian and family member Steve Smith is looking into having a state historical marker or a local monument erected in honor of Lt. General Robert Sink, who was commanding officer of the first parachute division into Normandy on D-Day.

Want to know more about what is happening in Lexington? Support local journalism, subscribe to The Dispatch.

He also commanded the U.S. Army 506th Parachute Infantry of the 101st Airborne Division at Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge, liberated a German concentration camp and his unit was instrumental in the capture of Adolf Hitler’s mountaintop retreat named the "Eagles Nest" near the end of the war.

Smith was one of the main characters in the book and subsequent HBO series "Band of Brothers" produced by Tom Hanks. "Colonel Robert Stout" in the film A Bridge Too Far (1977), played by Elliott Gould, is based on Sink and he was also portrayed in the video game Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway.

He received two Silver Stars, two Bronze Stars and was decorated by France, Belgium, the Netherlands and was awarded England’s Distinguished Service Order. Sink was also a senior United States Army officer who served during the Korean War and the early part of the Vietnam War.

More:World War II veteran will serve as grand marshal of the Davidson County Veterans Day Parade

Sink was the commander of the Strategic Army Corps and the 18th Airborne in 1958. He was promoted to lieutenant general in 1959 and took command of the U.S. Army in the Caribbean until he retired in 1961.

He was also the first person from Lexington to attend and graduate from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, before his illustrious career in the military. After retirement, Sink returned to Lexington before he died in 1965.

Paul Gogle - Scope Of Russian Opposition To Putin's War Truly Breathtaking – OpEd
[Eurasia Review] Because Vladimir Putin is a ruthless dictator, he can ignore at least for a time the views of his own population. But only for a time because the views of what remains of civil society about his aggression again Ukraine are spreading to the families of members of the elite and even to the elite itself.

The scope of opposition among the remnants of civil society in Russia to his war is breathtaking, with almost all groups, formed for whatever reason, voicing their outrage, holding demonstrations, and circulating petitions which are garnering an increasing number of signatures. (For the most comprehensive list to date, see zona.media/article/2022/02/27/vse and rosbalt.ru/russia/2022/02/28/1946296.html.)

This opposition has now spread into the families of members of the elite — for examples, see zona.media/article/2022/02/25/no-war — and even key members of Putin’s circle (rfi.fr/ru/россия/20220227-дерипаска-и-фридман-выступили-против-войны-в-украине and themoscowtimes.com/2022/02/28/some-of-russias-elite-oppose-war-in-ukraine-a76648).

And the liberal leaders of the ten million-strong Russian diaspora have now organized an Anti-War Committee. It too may not have immediate impact on the Kremlin dictator; but it will provide language and arguments too dangerous to make if one lives in Putin’s Russia but which will affect others (t.me/khodorkovski/5387 and newtimes.ru/articles/detail/209568).

Putin and his thugs are undoubtedly counting on the primal patriotism of the so-called "dark people" to see him through; but even they are less than enthusiastic. And unless Putin can win some key victories with minimal losses, it is unlikely that even this group in the population is going to stay in his corner for much longer.

At some point, he won’t be able to sustain his policies or even himself because those on whom he relies are drawn from portions of the population that are almost as anti-war as those who have already spoken out.

'Barbaric': Putin's Troops Level Government Building, Strike Residential Areas
[Townhall] Russian forces continued to hammer the city of Kharkiv in northeast Ukraine as Putin's unprovoked assault entered its sixth day on Tuesday, including a direct hit on a government building in the city's Freedom Square as attacks on non-military targets escalate.

In a video tweeted by Ukraine Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Kuleba that has been verified by NBC News and other outlets, a fireball erupts after a missile slams into the building. Kuleba's video includes footage of Ukraine's Emergency Service combing through what remains of the rubble while initial reports from those on the ground say there are multiple civilian casualties, including a child.

The attack on government and residential buildings in Kharkiv comes as Putin directs his troops to target residential centers and is coming under international scrutiny for his indiscriminate assaults on non-military targets. "It is not just a war," said Kharkiv's mayor of the Russian onslaught. "It is a murder of the Ukrainian people."

More than 10 civilians were killed and scores more injured by Russian attacks on Monday in Kharkiv and, as The Wall Street Journal noted, "an indication that Moscow may be shifting to a more destructive approach" as seen in attacks that hit two residential neighborhoods." Putin will also reportedly be shifting to night operations soon as he grows more frustrated with Ukraine's effectiveness against Russian forces.

Yes, Russia could use nuclear weapons
[Spectator World] Nuclear war is part of our strategic culture. Yes, we would start one if our homeland, our way of life, was threatened, absolutely. Why wouldn’t we?"

That’s what a retired Russian diplomat told me on the sidelines of a track-two dialogue between US, Russian and Chinese experts back in 2012. And to be honest, for several years, I didn’t believe him. I took his comments as bragging, atomic machismo, if you will.

The context of the conversation was a response to a question to my Russian colleague on the subject of Moscow’s nuclear weapons doctrine and thinking. Russia for several years has believed in the concept of escalating nuclear tensions to deescalate tensions, or what defense scholars call "escalate to deescalate."

#1  I'm skeptical. Every simulation that starts with nukes ends with mutual annihilation. Putin knows this. He has kids. Grandchildren. A historical legacy. Won't have one if the Chinese take over an empty Russia. Heck, it will be as if Russia had never existed, let alone Putin. You think Chinese history mentions all the tribes absorbed, let alone those that went extinct *before* they annexed their lands?

#2  Non-strategic Nukular Weapons.

Those will demonstrate intent, without giving NATO the justification to cross the threshold, and shall establish dominance when most of Ukranian forces give up.

I pray God it doesn't come to that though and some clever people can find a way to Putin an out. His back to the wall, who knows what an over-the-hill ex-KGB mackerel eyed sonofoabitch would do?

WW2 ended in Mutual Assured Destruction? No? What if Russia only nukes Ukraine and then asks the EU: "Do you feel lucky?"

I agree that this a very risky gambit to indulge in.

Between two nuclear powers with 2nd strike capabilities. WW2 included only one nuclear power.

If Russia nukes Ukraine, no skin off our nose. But that would be dangerous for Putin personally. It would invite one-way assassination missions by people with kin in Ukraine. What's left of Ukraine would be ungovernable. Any puppet ruler he placed in there would face assassination*.

And it would mean a total embargo by the West and probably most of the world, given that *any* company that broke the embargo would probably lose its business in the West. Think Huawei and Iran. Russia would become an oversized North Korea, but worse.

* Look up the UPA resistance movement in the post-WW2 era, at a time only a smallish minority of Ukrainians participated in anti-Soviet activity. 200K rebels died, after killing tens of thousands of Soviet commissars and other functionaries. After a nuclear attack? I wouldn't be surprised if the puppet ruler communicated by Zoom video conference inside Russia proper.

#11  The US are trying to turn Russia into North Korea.

Unlike North Korea, Russia knows how to launch tactical nuclear missiles to destroy battlefield targets. Those targets are not 10000 kilometers away from Russia across an ocean. The targets are in Russia's own ancestral homeland where it has fought two great wars, a civil war and a war with Poland during last 100 years.

What do Americans think they are doing? Why are they doing this? We didn't hear anything at all from your president today about why you are pursuing such mad policies in a matter that has nothing to do with you.. why are you trying to make Russia another North Korea? What is in your heads?

#20  Nobody is turning anybody into North Korea. The US postured over Afghanistan for twenty years, every week reporting how the Taliban were going to be soon ash. It launched its sons at the desert while maintaining back channels propping up the islamics for years. The credibility of such posturing is a joke. It's still buying from Russia and refuses to stop. The US can only apply sanctions, overtly harass small economies who deal with Russia, a kind of cancel culture with implications for entire populations.

But it cannot ensure anything. Because it cannot ensure its own stability in the next two years, especially if it continues to entertain Africans and islamics and psychologically unwell people with jobs in policy making. People who are cheering on the SWIFT denial, the sanctions and embargoes are actually envious of societies that do not have these problems because they did not entertain social justice cancel tactics. Russia is a macroscopic example of what they can do to any free individual trying to assert himself, since they're treating a whole population now as an individual.

But Putin will not let this happen. The threat is very real. Mutually assured destruction. He cannot reply with the economic option, he has only one option. What you can bet on is that he won't back down. Nor will some altruist commander step up to avert everything like in the movies. The idea that 'everything will be alright... probably' is not something a sane society entertains. A sane society expects their leaders to deliberate, weigh their actions instead of gambling with their fates.

The only beneficiaries of this will be the New World Order finaglers sitting in their wicker chairs and reminiscing how they sold out Jews to Hitler's finest. Even if both super powers almost destroy each other, their experiment will still proceed this time with less friction.

17 Absurd Lies Biden Told During His State Of The Union Speech
[The Federalist] n a desperate bid to console a nation reeling from crises he created, President Joe Biden delivered his first official State of the Union Address on Tuesday.

The Democrat attempted to downplay his plummeting approval by promising to do better in his second year in office but instead offered a speech riddled with falsehoods and contradictions.

While Biden’s address was supposed to breathe new life into his presidency, Americans are meanwhile plagued with rising prices, a southern border crisis, and now an overseas conflict that leaves them feeling like "the State of our union is in crisis because of Joe Biden." Here are 17 absurd lies Biden told during his State of the Union speech.

’FREEDOM WILL ALWAYS TRIUMPH OVER TYRANNY’
Biden opened his speech by praising the lack of Covid-19 theater in the legislative chambers and claiming that "freedom will always triumph over tyranny."

The audacious claim comes just a few months after the president tried to force the coronavirus jab on American workers, pushed his administration to work with Big Tech to censor his political opponents, and smeared Republicans as domestic terrorists for caring about their children’s education.

POWERFUL SANCTIONS STOPPED RUSSIA
Days after Biden said U.S. sanctions against Russia weren’t expected to "prevent anything from happening" in the Ukraine conflict, the president claimed that he leveraged powerful punishments against Vladimir Putin, which stopped the Eastern European in his tracks.

"A Russian dictator, invading a foreign country, has costs around the world," Biden said. "And I’m taking robust action to make sure the pain of our sanctions is targeted at Russia’s economy."

Twenty-four hours before Biden’s contradictory statement, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters that the sanctions "are meant to have a deterrent impact" against Russia.

Vice President Kamala Harris, national security adviser Jake Sullivan, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and other Cabinet members also promoted sanctions as a way to stop Putin from invading Ukraine.

I’M ALWAYS HONEST
Biden told Americans, "I will be honest with you, as I’ve always promised," but The Federalist’s regularly updated lie tracker proves that claim is far from the truth.

#8  I watched it, but I don't think I fall in the category of viewer they were aiming for.

It was weird.

Was on Fox, because opposition! or whatever, and the channel prelude shouldn't count as part of the speech, but some dude went on and on explaining why people on board with W. should get on board with Biden because polling cousins or something. Switched to a better predicate for 2022, Super Troopers, until closer to showtime. Gets there, and we start running late. Real late. Neoclown runs out of things to talk about late, so real-life Ken tries to fill the air, runs out of things to say, panics and starts describing what the speech will say. Video in the capital, everyone has done their strut, said their bullshit, and they start getting the awkwards. Finally after much shuffling and escorting Biden is on stage, and he's on his 3rd pot of coffee which is weird, because he pretty much needed to be gently folded into the limo. Anyways, he gets going, and I'll leave that to transcript and call out what bullshit the content was. Like I said, 3rd pot of coffee and the pacing is off. We're breezing through pauses, interrupting applauses, and just about to sell some Micro-Machines. Couple stutters here and there, nothing too outrageous, but by golly we ain't stuttering tonight! Woot! Voice was very tin, like what you would expect from the greatest politician in history I guess. Visually it was alien to me, and maybe that is the state of technology, but I grew up in a world Vinyl, and this looked MP3, almost too crisp and saturated, almost like a filter. The Cackle Twins looked like portraits in Hogwart's Castle and like someone gave them gum to remind them to stay quiet and not give each other the stink eye. Everyone looked 2-D, and Biden kept reminding me of that visual trick used to make Kung Pow. Like, I was wanting to see some gopher-chucks come out. I think he got the full montey applause for saying he would throw a bunch of cash at The War Caucus, because for some reason, war is cool again. Cut, fade, back to real-life Ken who begins to explain why I should have liked the red carpet style event, civilly skipping the fashionable commercials that particular channel ran in the lead up, but I'm faster and click off, go to bed, late because better rating at west coast prime time, second nap, whatever.

Totally worth the aspirin and extra cup of coffee, in that aspect. Like, they are going to tell you Biden showing up late was one of those power moves to assert dominance, nah, not at all, shit I though he fell down between the limo and the stage and hurt himself it was so long and awkward. Imagine watching Final Jeopardy, the music ques, the contestants fill in their answers, song ends...then plays again...and again...and again. Then one more time, all the while the host is trying to keep face that this is normal but the contestants are totally baffled when the third time starts.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Maersk, MSC and CMA CGM suspend Russian deliveries
[Aljazeera] The world’s three biggest shipping lines have suspended non-essential deliveries to Russia, joining a growing list of companies shunning Moscow amid Western sanctions over its invasion of Ukraine.

Danish shipping giant Maersk, Switzerland-based MSC and France’s CMA CGM all announced on Tuesday that they would no longer take bookings for goods from Russia and were suspending most deliveries to the country.

Citing the impact of sanctions, "bookings to and from Russia will be temporarily suspended, with exception of foodstuffs, medical and humanitarian supplies", Maersk said in a statement.

MSC announced similar measures, saying it would "continue to accept and screen bookings for delivery of essential goods".

CMA CGM said its "utmost priorities remain to protect our employees and ensure as much as possible the continuity of your supply chain".

"In the interest of safety, the group has decided to suspend all bookings to and from Russia as of today and until further notice," it said in a statement posted on its website.

Government Corruption
2020 Wisconsin Vote Should Be Decertified, Investigator Says
[PJ] Former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman, who led an audit of the 2020 election in his state, testified that the election was so corrupt that the state legislature should "take a very hard look at the option of decertification of the 2020" presidential election.

"It is clear that the Wisconsin Legislature could lawfully take steps to decertify electors in any Presidential election, for example in light of violations of state election law that did or likely could have affected the outcome of the election," Gableman’s report reads. However, it said that doing so would not impact the results of the election.

"It would not, for example, change who the current President is," the report concedes.

Gableman spent three hours detailing his finding before the Wisconsin Assembly’s elections committee, but his calls for decertifying the election were met with bipartisan criticism.

"Still not legal under Wisconsin law," Republican Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke tweeted. "Beyond that, it would have no practical impact b/c there is no Constitutional way to remove a sitting president other than through impeachment or incapacity. Fools errand. Focus on the future."

According to the Associated Press, much of Gableman’s 136-page interim report attacked the millions of dollars in funding from a controversial Mark Zuckerberg-backed foundation aimed at increasing Democratic voter turnout—often referred to as Zuck Bucks—which have since been banned or restricted in at least ten states.

"His report also criticized how the state handled nursing home ballots during the pandemic as well as absentee ballot drop boxes," the AP reports. "He recommended dismantling the bipartisan Wisconsin Elections Commission that Republicans created."

Biden’s state-certified victory in Wisconsin was just under 21,000 votes and is not the only battleground state with a slim margin of victory that may have been affected by irregularities. For example, last September, a forensic audit of the 2020 presidential election vote in Maricopa County, Ariz., found 53,214 ballots impacted by irregularities of medium, high, and critical severity. Joe Biden’s margin of victory was only 10,457.

[Washington Examiner] Sen. Joe Manchin called on President Joe Biden to ramp up domestic energy production to curtail the United States's reliance on Russian oil and gas imports, accusing the White House of pushing "hypocritical" policies.

The West Virginia Democrat said in a statement late Monday that the U.S. importing about a half-million barrels of oil products from Russia a month poses a "clear and present danger to U.S. national security."

The "entire world is watching as Vladimir Putin uses energy as a weapon in an attempt to extort and coerce our European allies," said Manchin, who leads the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.

Many Republicans have said in recent days that Russia's aggression vindicates the case for added U.S. production of fossil fuels, but it's unusual for a member of Biden's own party to make the same argument. Manchin, though, has long favored fossil fuel production and has been skeptical of his party's regulatory agenda.

"While Americans decry what is happening in Ukraine, the United States continues to allow the import of more than half a million barrels per day of crude oil and other petroleum products from Russia during this time of war," Manchin said. "This makes no sense at all and represents a clear and present danger to our nation’s energy security."

Some Cliff Clavin Facts ☺

A barrel of USSR oil now costs $105+/-.
US buys 500k barrels of oil a day from the USSR.

500k barrels of oil makes about 20 gallons of gas and 12 gallons of diesel fuel.

Using the US DOT/EPA averages
Gas vehicles get about 25+/- miles per gallon on average.
Commercial Diesel trucks average about 12+/- miles per gallon.
42 vehicle miles per barrel of oil.

42+/- driving miles now costing about 174.50% more than it did in Nov. 2020. Consumer goods now cost 174.5% more to deliver and purchase.

The estimated cost of the Ukrainian War to Russia is roughly $34 Billion per day.

The US consumers are paying $52.5 Million a day to fund the Invasion of Ukraine by Russia. Or about 15/100's of 1% per day.

A Russian T-14 Armata Tank costs $3.7M so at $52.5M. The US is funding 14 such Russian tanks per day, OR 2 Su-57 Russian fighter jets.
-----------------------

SOME HISTORY
Oil has gone from $38.25 during the last months of TRUMP's Admin to $105 under the Biden-DC Swamp Admin. Or a 174.50% increase in 1 year 1 month since Biden & his handlers took office.

We have now exceeded the Obama Admin for the cost of Oil. We can expect the national average price of fuels to be the same as Obama's shortly or more due to LSD funded inflation.

Summary:
One must admit Biden learned a lot from Obama.

[DW] Germany's energy dependence on Russia is enormous. Will nuclear power plants have to operate longer and the coal phase-out have to be postponed? Some see fresh opportunities in the current crisis.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Analysis of the operational situation on the morning of March 1
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
Retired Russian FSB operative Igor Strelkov tells his vision of the course of the demilitarization operation in Ukraine

[CHERVONEC] Southern Front (Nikolaev - Zaporozhye)
On the left flank, the advance of Russian troops in the Nikolaev area continues. Apparently, an operation to block the city will be launched today. At the same time, preparations are underway for the assault and cleansing of Kherson (probably will also begin today). Along the lower reaches of the Dnieper - the situation is unchanged (expected).

On the right flank - advancement to the north on the outskirts of Zaporozhye. The main efforts are still aimed at cutting off the enemy grouping operating in the Donbass. However, so far (also expected by me) the environment is far away. Reports that the advancing Russian troops reached the nearest approaches to Izyum, Slavyansk and Kramatorsk have not yet received confirmation (although, perhaps, I simply do not have enough information, but nothing like this is reported to me from the field). The enemy continues to withdraw troops to the west to Dnepropetrovsk, although now - under active influence from the air and the corresponding heavy losses.

On the Donetsk front
On the southern flank (region of Mariupol and Volnovakha)DPR units fought hard battles and had tactical successes, occupying a number of settlements in the depths of the enemy’s defenses. Mariupol, however, as of yesterday evening, was not yet completely blocked, although the transfer of large units from the city and to the city was no longer possible due to the impact of artillery and aviation. Also, Volnovakha - there is no data on its complete encirclement, and the settlements to the west of the city, which must be taken for such a blockade, are not yet occupied (they were not reported to be taken). At the moment, Volnovakha is covered from the south (the road to Mariupol was cut in the Granite area), from the east and from the northeast.

In the central area, the enemy retains all forward positions and conducts brutal shelling of advanced units of the DPR Armed Forces and settlements, primarily Donetsk, Gorlovka, Makeevka and Yenakiyevo, as well as a number of other settlements. There is a lot of destruction, there are casualties and wounded among the civilian population.

On the right flank (LPR) . From the Svetlodar Bulge to the Seversky Donets, the enemy continues to maintain his line unchanged. To the north of this river, the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to retreat in an organized manner (albeit with heavy losses), conducting rearguard battles. In all likelihood, Severodonetsk will not be left without a serious fight (today I expect fights for the city and its environs).

Central front
Left (southern) flank. From the most important area (on which it was necessary to concentrate (in my opinion) initially the main efforts, since it is here that it is necessary and still possible to solve the problem of complete encirclement of the Donetsk group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine) - no reliable information was received.

As stated above, the locals do not yet know anything about the breakthrough of Russian troops to Izyum, Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, and I have no other information at my disposal. Let's hope that the statements made by the enemy about the preparation of these cities for an early assault have serious grounds. Until Russian troops reach the nearest approaches to these settlements, only Yury Podolyaka and an unnamed "veteran of the Vostok battalion" can confidently talk about the "imminent encirclement of the entire group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine."

Central section. I'm waiting for the main information from Kharkov. Until the city is taken, further advancement to the west will inevitably slip. Yesterday all day in Kharkov there were fierce street battles with varying success. As a positive factor, it should be noted that (after the day before yesterday's losses) the Russian forces are actively using aircraft and all types of heavy weapons to destroy the strongholds of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and "terbatov".

I believe that the battles for the city will not end today and will continue for another day or more (much depends on the tactical decisions of the commanders fighting there, on the spirit of the defending units, etc.). It will be necessary to "cleanse" the city from small groups of the enemy many more times and later. In any case, there is no doubt that Kharkov will be liberated. The only question is "when."

The advance of Russian troops in the direction of Poltava, the siege of Sumy and Chernigov also continues. According to some information, the delay in the assault on the above settlements is associated with a lag (for a number of subjective reasons) of the units and formations intended for this purpose with the arrival in the area.

Kiev area
On the northern site, Russian troops advanced to the suburbs of Kyiv - Brovary and began to form the "eastern" front of the blockade of the city. Today I do not expect any attempts to break through directly to Kyiv before pulling up and concentrating sufficient forces. The most likely attack of Russian troops on Boryspil with the aim of capturing this largest airport and cutting off Kyiv from communication with the southeastern part of Little Russia (along the Kyiv-Lubny highway). I believe it is possible to mark this promotion as the most serious success of yesterday.

Right bank area. Fierce battles continued on it yesterday with heavy losses on both sides. Russian troops continued to expand and deepen the breakthrough both to the south and to the west. On the outskirts of Kyiv, fighting continued in the area of the settlement.

Irpen, in the west - for the city of Borodyanka, in the south, Russian troops cut the Kyiv-Zhitomir highway and continued to advance in order to intercept the Kyiv-Bila Tserkva highway. I believe that the main efforts of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation today will be directed to the latter direction.

And accordingly, the enemy also (realizing the danger of a complete blockade of Kyiv from the south) will provide the most fierce resistance there. I note once again - in fact, the fighting is taking place in a zone of continuous development, interspersed with summer cottages and industrial zones. For the advancing, such a landscape presents the greatest difficulties and requires a lot of additional forces to control the territories already traversed. But the forces are coming - I know this for sure.

General conclusions.
Despite the fierce resistance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the military battalions, as well as objective difficulties with supplies, the offensive of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continues on all sectors of the front. At the same time, taking into account the experience gained, deep, but unsecured breakthroughs by the second echelons, the command has not yet made in order to avoid unjustified losses from the actions of enemy mobile groups on communications.

The second echelons are being actively and urgently pulled up, measures are being taken to urgently recruit and transfer units and divisions of the commandant's service to the theater. And the hasty formation of new ones on the territory of the Russian Federation has already begun (which pleases).

The main offensive military operations for today will be conducted in the area east and west of Kyiv, in Kharkov, in the Donbass and in the Zaporozhye region. Perhaps - near Poltava.

The enemy will continue to offer fierce organized resistance in the hope of pinning down the Russian troops by fighting the “fortresses” deliberately left surrounded by garrisons (Kharkov, Mariupol, Sumy, Chernigov, Volnovakha, possibly Severodonetsk, Slavyansk and Kramatorsk) and trying to prevent the complete encirclement of Kyiv (the garrison of which will soon be surrounded by forced).

At the same time, the enemy will continue to form defenses in the Dnepropetrovsk region and hastily create as many "territorial defense" units as possible through active mobilization (which, alas, was a very large percentage of those called up).

Today I expect new operational successes of the Russian troops, but not a strategic turning point in the direction of defeating the main groupings of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Operation Denazification
[CHERVONEC] In the first days, the Russian troops showed excessive peacefulness and fraternal relaxation. After the start of actions in accordance with all the rules, losses significantly decreased, reserves and other interesting things were brought up in the theater of operations;

The operation smoothly turns into a steam roller, slowly and inevitably rolling over all targets;

The Nazis concentrate in cities, actively use the tactics of a human shield, and without a shadow of a doubt they hit civilians with artillery and MLRS on occasion and without it. Relying on dominance in the information field, they shift all responsibility onto anti-fascists;

The Nazis are trying to damage the image of Russia and fan the fire of internal discontent in it. The anti-fascists, in turn, decided to play long and are patiently engaged in the encirclement of the APU group in the JFO, as well as blocking cities, playing to exhaust and strangle the Nazis;

Public opinion in Ukraine itself is now not on the side of anti-fascists, and there are several reasons for this, such as successful IPSO, as well as the effect of rejection of the invasion and the outbreak of patriotism. Here you need to understand that even despite the rolling of tanks throughout Ukraine, the charge of turbopatriotism is very far from 14 years old, and social problems are much wider. Such sentiments are not evenly distributed across the country, weakening from the northwest to the southeast.

The obvious mistakes of the Nazis make their own adjustments. In particular, the distribution of tens of thousands of barrels did not cause a wave of resistance to anti-fascists, but led to mass chaos and looting. Losses from internal conflicts and friendly fire as a result of mass armaments are high, and the costs of killing civilians are unacceptable.

In general, the usual CTO is going on, which, for good, Yanukovych should have done back in 2014.

Russia told the OSCE that the special operation in Ukraine will be brought to an end
[REGNUM] Russia's special operation to demilitarize Ukraine will be completed, which was announced to OSCE colleagues, Konstantin Gavrilov , head of the Russian delegation at the talks in Vienna on military security and arms control, said on March 1 on Rossiya 24.

Commenting on the talks in Vienna on the situation in Ukraine, Gavrilov said that he explained to the members of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe what the goals of the Russian special operation are.

The purpose of the operation is to prevent the death of the civilian population of Donbass, to prevent a third world war. He added that the Russian side told its European colleagues the background to these events and stated that neither sanctions nor threats would change its plans.

Two Paleostinian button men were killed in a firefight near the West Bank city of Jenin overnight Monday.

The Israel Police said undercover Border Police officers came under fire while arresting a "terror suspect" in the Jenin refugee camp.

Paleostinian media identified the two fatalities as 19-year-old Shadi Najm, and 22-year-old Abdullah al-Housri.

Video shared online showed at least one of the button men opening fire.

There were no casualties among Israeli forces, police said, and the suspect was arrested.

Later, as the officers left the refugee camp, dozens of Paleostinians hurled stones, Molotov cocktails, and a makeshift grenade at the officers, who responded with "riot dispersal means and live fire," police said.

Images showed al-Housri’s body wrapped in the flag of Paleostinian Islamic Jihad, as well as the terror group’s logo on his firearm. The group did not immediately claim him as a member, though a local wing of the organization reportedly did.

The arrested suspect was Amad Abu al-Hija, the son of a Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, leader'>Hamas big turban, according to Paleostinian media. It wasn’t immediately clear what he was suspected of.

The West Bank has seen a rise in violent mostly peaceful confrontations between Israeli soldiers and Paleostinians in recent weeks.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Hizbullah Strongly Denies Israel Destroyed One of Its Drone Depots
[AnNahar] Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
on Tuesday strongly denied
No, no! Certainly not!
a media report claiming that Israel had recently destroyed a drone depot belonging to the group.

"Hizbullah strongly denies the reports about a Zionist force entering into one of the resistance’s drone depots and destroying it," the group said in a statement, describing the reports as totally baseless.
“And there absolutely were no secondaries,” he strongly denied saying.
Hizbullah expert Qassem Qassir, who is close to the party, has claimed in a report published Tuesday on the Asas Media news website that Israeli commandos had recently "managed to infiltrate and destroy one of Hizbullah’s drone depots."

"Hizbullah only discovered this operation after the commandos returned to where they came from," Qassir quoted "sources informed on the Hizbullah-Mossad war" as saying.

"Hizbullah possesses accurate information about the enemy’s readiness to carry out other operations in Lebanon Hezbollahstan
...The land area formerly occupied by the state of Lebanon, before that Phoenicia...
and Syria, with the aim of destroying the workshops where long-range missiles are being transformed into precision-guided missiles," the sources added.

The sources also said that Israel wants to destroy Hizbullah’s drone factories.

"The drones that the enemy is sending are gathering information about these targets, and sometimes special operations to strike the arms and missile factories are being conducted without being announced," the sources added.

In response, Hizbullah has intensified its drone overflights in Israel’s airspace and is gathering intel about the movements of the Israeli army and Mossad, the sources said.

The sources added that Hizbullah might also set up ambushes for the Israelis similar to the 1997 Ansariyeh Ambush
A unit of Israel’s naval special operations, Shayetet 13, were ambushed by Hezbollah in south Lebanon. Twelve Israeli troops were killed.
Kuwaiti newspaper al-Rai had also recently quoted U.S. diplomatic sources as saying that Israel has carried out "sabotage and espionage operations that targeted sensitive Hizbullah posts inside Lebanese territory."

Israeli elite commandos managed to "destroy secret facilities inside those posts and to seize important information related to Hizbullah’s arms program and the means of communication between its combat units," the U.S. sources added.

"Over the past months, Israeli elite forces conducted operations in various areas of Lebanon and entered into Hizbullah posts. These forces left messages to Hizbullah asking it to dismantle what is present in the manufacturing plants," the sources went on to say.

The Kuwaiti daily also suggested that Hizbullah sent the ’Hassan’ drone deep into Israel "in response to the intelligence breaches that were made by the Israeli elite units."

In an annual speech last month, Hizbullah chief Sayyed His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah
...The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...
had warned Israel against carrying out any operations inside Lebanese territory.

"Should the enemy dare to carry out a certain operation in search of our missiles, it might face an ’Ansariyeh 2’ operation," Nasrallah said, referring to Israel’s 1997 botched landing on Ansariyeh’s shore in which 12 of its troops were killed.

Winsome Sears Urges Biden to Reverse Energy Policy ‐ ‘Take Care of What You Have Command of'
[Breitbart] In the wake of the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine, Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears (R) called on President Joe Biden to rethink his energy policy.

Sears lamented on Tuesday’s broadcast of FNC’s "Fox & Friends" that Biden canceled the Keystone XL pipeline his first day in office. She urged him to "reopen" the pipeline and "take care" of what he has "command of" in the United States.

"[Y]ou see, we don’t live on this planet by ourselves, Mr. President," Sears directed at Biden. "You have Russia. You have China. You have North Korea. You have all of them. And so, you must call on people who will make demands of you to understand whether America is all ready for all comers. So, we need to find that out. Why won’t you reopen the Keystone pipeline? Why won’t you stop? As a matter of fact, we are importing energy from Russia. You know, why are we doing that? We have the means to produce it here."

She added, "We were free from depending on outside countries for our energy, and as soon as he came into office, his first day, he killed the Keystone pipeline, killed all those jobs and all the other attendant jobs with it. So, we can be energy independent, and it depends on this president. And instead, he is telling other countries like Saudi Arabia to release more oil, more barrels. Really? Why don’t you take care of what have you command of, Mr. President, here?"

Eventually these three economies will create a trading bloc that will be significantly larger than the US or the EU. Other "nonaligned" nations will seek to join it.

This will be the end of US domination of the global economic system. A lot like the end of Britain / sterling's dominance after 1918.

#4  India may've been a greater ally if the west hadn't made a choice with moslems every time over the interests of the subcontinent. And that's the root of all these troubles. I mean you've got big guns, but you don't know jack about where to point them or why. I wish there was a polite way to say it.

India seems all kissy-kissy, huggy-huggy only because it's sold to you that way. We are far from all-weather friends and Vlad knows it too. Geopolitics is only business for us. As it should be for anyone. This one's just not our business. Only a fool would alienate from perfectly okay partners over hoopla about 'conquest' and 'fascism' created by media educated bleeding hearts and hypocrites. Except for America who has a habit of getting dragged into shit for things totally insignificant to its actual citizen. Give them a bit of hubris to chomp on, a bit of McCarthyesque panic, copy pasted articles in the MSM, wind them up with floating heads in the teevee saying, 'Oh-a-real-man-would've-shown-Rooshia!' And watch 'em go.

And what good does 'criticizing' do? Unlike what the globalist lobbies want the ritalin and adderall soaked milksops of today to presume, this thing isn't as boo hoo hoo as it's being narrated. There are no angels in this fight, except the innocent people being pressured and panicked by a mad regime in Kiev to fight to their deaths. Just so the Rada can become an under-office of Brussels and free from the 'non-democratic' authoritarianism of Moscow. Gawd knows everyone could do with a bit of authoritarianism in this time, even if as a counter to the great supranational experiment. UKR was going to sell out its 'sovereignty' anyway in 2024. To Europe, which we don't care for. So there's that.

India has known this since the euromaidan protests when the Putin flunky was replaced with the globalist flunky, this has to end badly. It's just that Trump would have talked both parties into maybe letting Donbass go and the EU rejecting Zelensky, and told NATO 'you admit them, you pay for them!' All the while telling 'I scared off Vlad' to hooting pubs back home.

No angels, only more Open Society re-engineering, and more meddling and regime change in the name of 'showing 'em Rooshians, har har!' For what? Another Marshall Plan for a European interest paid for with American dollars?

Oh, I know you can't agree, we all serve the sides we serve. But people need to think about things before being railroaded into reacting.

#5  ^ Well said. The American and Ukrainian peoples are getting played, God alone knows to what end. Lots of poor Ukrainians are going to be killed, for nothing. Lots of Americans are going to be made poorer, for nothing.

India and China will pick up the pieces from America's foolish decision to bring America's global dominance to an end.

Why your leaders are rushing forward in this mad way is a mystery. It's unfathomable to any rational student of international relations. American experts from all the best IR programs, most of your intelligence analysts and diplomats all recognized how foolish and self-destructive it was for America to encourage little rabbits in Ukraine to annoy Russia, but this is where we are.

It's a riddle. Sort of like the mystery as to why Britain, France, Tsarist Russia, Wilhelmina Germany etc rushed into the Great War that caused the end of Europe's global dominance.

I guess it's Biblical. Pride goeth before a fall - for hegemonic powers no less than for Fallen Man.

#7  @#3 Open source? It's just obvious to any economist or banker - these people are not brainwashed by hysterical West's propaganda. They can see the writing on the wall.

The only thing propping up US dominance today is the dollar as reserve currency. Does the US dominate anything in the real economy? Not even close. It's just one nation among many that have great resources. Most of the strategic resources are outside America's control.

Now even US universities are destroying America's scientific and engineering strength as well. Most of your great entrepreneurs and scientists were from India China Russia etc anyway. You're alienating most of the Chinese and Russian immigrants. Why the hell would anybody go to or remain in such an insane place like America now?

There's no better surer faster way to destroy that position than to show all the nation's of the world that the US is such an insane and unreliable hegemon that it will use the dollar like a nuclear weapon. To destroy any nation whose foreign policy it hates. To try to turn a great nation into another North Korea. For nothing.

It's the most bizarre thing we've ever seen. People are really strange I guess.

#8  "I mean you've got big guns, but you don't know jack about where to point them or why. I wish there was a polite way to say it"

America is a child in possession of big guns. Fire, ready, aim.

No other great power in history would have thrown away its power as America has since 1995. So many stupid interventions. In Serbia - to help Kosovar Liberation Army jihadi terrorists. In Iraq - to destroy Iran's rival and build up Iran. In Afghanistan - to help Pakistan ISI and Taliban take over and kick you out. In Libya - to trash the country. In Syria - to build up ISIL.

And again you intervene like a hysterical little adolescent girl, to try to punish one of your "enemies". A Christian nation that doesn't threaten you and that wants to be left alone, not threatened with your military alliance at its edge.

No nation in its right mind will any more trust the American child to use this nuclear economic weapon of dollar dominance. Start thinking, use common sense

#10  25% of the world's grain imports comes through the Black Sea, from Russia-Ukraine.

Look at the biggest countries to Russia's south. Turkey and Egypt rely on Black Sea RU-UA for 70% of their wheat imports. You really think these two large nations will let their children go hungry just to join more insane American sanctions? Do you think they're leaders are as stupid as America's leaders?
Posted by: Cravique Thromoth9453 || 03/02/2022 9:15 Comments || Top||

#11  Why would they? Russia supplies them with quality armaments, does not hold back on licensed to redesign or jointly develop. And does not sell goods for an arbitrarily inflated price by bribing their officials. You know who does that? Europe.

More than socialist ties both nations know what it is like to deal with the petridish called islamic terrorism. Also both have faced the hardships of building self sustaining economies despite obstruction, threats, interference, malice.

China, only the profit motive works for them, and maybe anything that they imagine helps their 'all under heaven' fantasy. And they own both American and European bureaucrats o it's good bet to assume they own Russian bureaucrats too. They have probably hedged their best both ways by now.

No I don't think that a larger economic bloc is possible. Just interdependence and unrestricted trade that will not be obstructed or held to ransom by the west. And anti-terrorist and war policies not subject to the whims of some commitee in Vienna or New York.

So stupid - you don't even see how your own leaders are destroying your country. It wasn't enough for them to stick you with a vaccine that's unsafe and doesn't work. You have to export your stupidity to the world's economy and destroy that too.

Do you even have any idea how many commodities Russia has and the rest of the non-western world imports from Russia? The Chinese know. So do the Indians. That's why they're going to join Russia and bring down the dollar.

Here's a partial list, correct your ignorance:
Wheat
Oil and gas
Coal
Titanium
Palladium
Potash for fertilizer
Nickel
Gold and diamonds
etc

You think you're isolating Russia because your stupid self-absorbed propaganda press tells you so.

The view from China and India - and Egypt and Turgey and Brazil and most of the rest of the world - is the total opposite of what western screaming press headlines suggest.

All America is doing now is to force the rest of the world to stop relying on dollars for their trade. Your foolish president going to destroy US hegemony and end dollar dominance

There are no angels in this fight, except the innocent people being pressured and panicked by a mad regime in Kiev to fight to their deaths. Just so the Rada can become an under-office of Brussels and free from the 'non-democratic' authoritarianism of Moscow.

India has known this since the euromaidan protests when the Putin flunky was replaced with the globalist flunky, this has to end badly.

I meant this is the view from afar, if you stand a little ways off from policy whisperers and baiters working as lobbyists and thinktanks goading Presidents and defence departments to look eastward while Uncle Soros and his ilk work on their domestic.

And I would never revel in any defeat or bumble America suffers, this whole thing is unfortunately happening all because the putsch was successful and traitors are in office. We haven't forgotten the Vindmans and the Sondlands and the current administration's interests in Ukraine. 'Toria Nuland and the regime change in Kiev? In fact the same machine that upended democracy itself to effect regime change within America, spent billions steadfastly supporting Zelensky's installation. Nobody here at Rantburg can seriously not ponder on this.

The idea is not to 'rub it in' or cheer what's happening. I just meant that some players see this as a necessary evil. Are they wrong? Maybe. Is evil ever necessary? To me, all the kingdoms of man are irreconcilably corrupt and not worth even getting het up about.

Asayish member wounded in Hawl Camp

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – A member of the Internal Security Forces of North and east Syria (Asayish) in Hawl Camp east of Hasakah, northeastern Syria, was wounded yesterday during a shooting incident by an armed group that was hiding in a tent in the first sector of the camp.

Sounds of intermittent clashes heard in the first sector, which holds Iraqi refugees, sources inside the camp told North Press.

“During a campaign of arresting an Islamic State Organization (ISIS) sleeper cells in a tent in the first sector, the Asayish patrol was shot at by a group of ISIS cells,” a security source told North Press.

The source did not provide further details about the incident.

Hawl camp witnessed intensive security measures at the entrances, as employees of NGOs were not allowed to enter until 9 o’clock this morning.

Since the last attack by ISIS sleeper cells on al-Sina’a prison in January, Hawl Camp has witnessed security incidents despite the strict security measures that accompanied the attack.

On February 9, a number of ISIS wives set six tents on fire in the camp in the foreigners sector in order to grasp the attention of the security forces.

The Hawl Camp is a house for about 15,300 families in total of 56, 000 individuals including 2,423 families of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) detained or killed militants, who hail from over than 60 countries.

“We believe in our Ukrainian army, but we are in a terrible situation.”

All kinds of irregular warfare stuff can be done with what they have in place.

Sad thing is, Ukraine has no way of winning this militarily. They are getting their cities rubbled and their infrastructure blown up. All they can do is force the invaders to pay more in blood and equipment. It comes down to how bloody minded Putin is.

Putin's dug in like a tick, paranoid as hell from all indications, and likely going mad in his isolation with all those "long table" photos.

Tribal infighting in Hasakah countryside leaves 4 people injured

Al SHADDADI, Syria (North Press) – Four people were wounded on Tuesday to varying degrees, in a tribal infighting between the tribesmen of al-Mahasin tribe in the village of Sarab, in the northern countryside of al-Shaddadi.

”The cause of the fighting is due to an old dispute between two families of al-Mahasin tribe,” a local source from the village of Sarab told North Press.

”Three people were injured in the infighting. They were transported to hospitals in Hasakah and al-Shaddadi, and they are in good condition,” the source said.

” There has been tension in the region so far, amid appeals from the population to resolve the dispute between the two families.”

The Internal Security Forces (Asayish) began investigating and searching for wanted persons to resolve this dispute, according to the source.

Last February, a young man was seriously injured in a tribal infighting between al-Mahasin and al-Na’aim tribes in the village of al-Hariri, in the eastern countryside of al-Shaddadi.

Canada shuts ports to Russian ships over Ukraine invasion
TORONTO, March 1 (Reuters) - Canada ratcheted up pressure on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine by shutting ports to Russian-owned ships and saying on Tuesday that holdings of all Russian oligarchs and companies in the country are under review.

Canada has announced a slew of measures to isolate Russia, including imposing sanctions on Russian President Vladimir Putin, closing Canadian airspace to Russian planes, banning oil imports and forbidding Canadian financial institutions from dealing with the Russian central bank, acting in tandem with other Western countries. read more

"Today, we are taking steps to close Canadian waters and ports to Russian-owned or registered ships," Transport Minister Omar Alghabra said.

Alghabra said while the number of Russian ships entering Canadian waters and ports is "small," there will still be an impact, especially with other countries doing the same.

Russia represents less than 2% of Port of Montreal's annual containerized volumes, and the ban will have little commercial impact, a port spokesperson said.

Port of Vancouver, Canada's busiest, said the number of Russian-flagged vessels calling there is minimal. In the past, those that have traded in crude oil, canola oil and copper concentrates, a spokesperson said.

Canada is tracking three Russian-flagged vessels off the East Coast, one of which is a cargo vessel, a government official told Reuters.

IDF says troops fire on Palestinians hurling Molotov cocktails, wounding one
[IsraelTimes] Israel Defense Forces soldiers thwarted an attempt by Paleostinian assailants to attack Israeli drivers near the West Bank town of Halhul on Monday night, the military said.

The IDF said in a statement that troops had ambushed the group who were hurling Molotov cocktails at cars on a main highway near the town, which is close to the city of Hebron.

One suspect was hit by troops’ fire, and was arrested, the IDF said.

It added that he was taken to a hospital, and would later be interrogated by authorities.

The IDF did not provide any further information about the condition of the maimed assailant.

The other two suspects apparently expeditiously departed at a goodly pace.

Israelis traveling along the area’s main traffic artery, Route 60, have repeatedly been attacked with Molotov cocktails and stones in recent weeks.

Gantz says Israel will boost number of Palestinian workers from Gaza
[IsraelTimes] Defense Minister Benny Gantz says Israel is planning on increasing the number of Paleostinian workers who can enter Israel from the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip.

"We intend to expand [our] civilian humanitarian policy, including an immediate increase in the quota of [Paleostinian] workers [who can enter Israel]," Gantz says during a tour of the southern frontier with military officials.

"If, along with maintaining relative quiet, we also make advances in the path to returning the Israeli prisoners and missing persons, we will be able to expand this policy and develop the Gaza Strip," he adds, referring to two Israeli civilians and the remains of two IDF soldiers being held by the Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, terror group in the coastal enclave.

"Unfortunately, the residents of Gaza are captives of Hamas leaders who deprive them of a better livelihood and future for their children. The leaders of Hamas and the residents of Gaza will also be the ones to bear responsibility, if the peace in Gaza or elsewhere is disturbed," Gantz warns.

In October, as part of the ongoing ceasefire efforts with Hamas, Israel expanded the work permit program to allow up to 10,000 workers into the country. It is not immediately clear how much further Israel intends to expand the program.

‘Breadbasket Of World’ Choked Off By Russian Invasion As Wheat Prices Soar
[ZeroHedge] Ukraine and Russia are vital to the global food supply, accounting for more than a quarter of global wheat trade, about a fifth of corn, and 12% of all calories traded globally, according to Bloomberg.

Reuters reports Ukrainian ports will remain closed until the Russian invasion ends and maritime security is restored for commercial ships.

This means all shipments of farm goods from Ukraine have ceased, and commodity traders will have to search elsewhere.

Activity at Ukrainian ports has been halted since Russia invaded its neighbor last week, and grains trade from Russia is also effectively on pause. Sanctions have been ratcheted up to further isolate commodity-rich Russia from global finance by sanctioning its central bank and cutting off various leaders from the critical SWIFT financial messaging system.

Restricting grain supplies from the Black Sea region threatens to further boost global food prices that are near a record high, at a time when supplies are already strained with adverse weather in many growing regions. - Bloomberg

"If the conflict is prolonged -- three months, four months from now -- I feel the consequences could be really serious," Andree Defois, president of consultant Strategie Grains, told Bloomberg. "Wheat will need to be rationed."

Michael Magdovitz, a senior analyst at Rabobank, said Ukraine and Russia had increased harvests and exports in the last decade at a far lower cost than western farmers, which helped keep wheat prices low. However, that's not the case today as the Russian invasion sends wheat futures trading in Chicago to a six-year high.

Villages in Manbij hit with 25 Turkish shells, 5 kids kaboomed by leftover ISIS mine

MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – Since Monday morning, the Turkish forces have intensively bombed the villages on the the front lines between the military forces of Manbij and the Turkish-backed opposition factions.

” More than 25 Turkish shells hit the villages of the front lines,” the media center of the Manbij Military Council said.

According to the center ” the houses of the residents in those villages were hit with the Turkish shelling.”

From the two bases of al-Hoshariya, north of Manbij and Sheikh Nasser, northwest of the city, the Turkish forces bombed the villages of Aoun al-Dadat and al-Tokhar, north of Manbij and the villages of al-Yalanli and Quart Wiran northwest of the city, according to the media center.

Aoun al-Dadat crossing, north of Manbij, was also targeted by snipers and a person from the village of al-Tokhar Al-Kabir was wounded to varying degrees.

“The Turkish bombardment is a flagrant violation of international laws and agreements signed between Turkey and Russia in 2019, which stipulated a ceasefire on all front lines between the Manbij Military Council and the pro-Turkish factions,” according to the center.

MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, two children lost their lives and three others were wounded when a landmine left behind by ISIS blew up while grazing sheep in al-Jarad village in the northwestern countryside of Manbij.

“Both Luay Sabri al-Jarad (13 years old) and Muhammad bin Awad al-Jarad (12 years old) lost their lives immediately after the mine exploded, while Khalid al-Jarad (18 years old), Hassan al-Jarad (17 years old) and Laith al-Jarad (16 years old) ) sustained various injuries and were subsequently transported to Dar Al Shifa Hospital in the city of Manbij,” one of the children’s relatives said.

“The three injured children had shrapnel in separate areas of their bodies. They were given first aid and they are in good condition now,” a medical source at Dar al-Shifa Hospital told North Press.

On the thirteenth of last November 13, a man lost his life when landmine exploded in his tractor while plowing his land in the village of Qart Wiran northwest of Manbij.

Germany commits 100 billion euros to new armed forces fund
President Trump is no doubt feeling vindicated.
[AlAhram] German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said Sunday that Germany is committing 100 billion euros to a special fund for its armed forces, raising its defense spending above 2 percent of GDP.

``It's clear we need to invest significantly more in the security of our country, in order to protect our freedom and our democracy,'' Scholz told a special session of the Bundestag in Berlin Sunday morning.

The move is a significant one for Germany, which has come under criticism from the United States and other NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
allies for not investing adequately in its defense budget.

Scholz's announcement, which came during a special session of Germany's Bundestag Sunday morning, was the latest in a series of major shifts in German defense and security policy this weekend in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

On Saturday evening, the German government announced it would be sending weapons and other supplies directly to Ukraine, which is fighting to keep Russia from invading its capital city.

Calling Bill Barr, We Found Evidence of Bribery in Wisconson
[Federalist] Nearly $9 million in Zuckerberg grant funds directed solely to five Democratic strongholds in Wisconsin violated the state’s election code’s prohibition on bribery. That conclusion represents but one of the many troubling findings detailed in the report submitted today by a state-appointed special counsel to the Wisconsin Assembly.

Last August, Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos authorized the Office of Special Counsel, headed by retired state Supreme Court justice Michael Gableman, to investigate concerns about election integrity and the 2020 election. Gableman delivered an interim report to the state assembly on November 10, 2021. Earlier today, the special counsel provided a second interim report to the state legislative body, noting the report "is final in the sense that it provides a list of recommendations with time for the Legislature to act before the close of its session in March."

[REGNUM] On November 13, 1918, the All-Russian Central Executive Committee of the RSFSR adopted a decree on the annulment of the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk - "in general and in all points." Even earlier, on November 11, it was decided to prepare a group of troops for the liberation of Ukraine within 10 days. The Germans began to leave her, but continued to take out everything they could. From March to November 28, 1918, 37,055 wagons were exported from Ukraine, including 9,293 wagons of bread, 23,195 wagons of food, 4,567 wagons of raw materials. Most of the supplies went to Austria-Hungary. 18,163 wagons passed through Lemberg, and 13,133 wagons passed through Brest-Litovsk (part of the deliveries went by sea and across the Danube).

Libyan Army Kills 26 Chadian Mercenaries

The Director of the Moral Guidance Department of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Major General Khaled Al-Mahjoub announced that they had clashed with a cross-border gang near the Rabiana area, south of Al-Kufra.

In a statement, Al-Mahjoub explained that a unit belonging to the Sobol Al-Salam Brigade clashed with the gang, during a patrol.

According to press reports, at least 26 mercenaries were killed in Al-Kufra. A source added that the LNA forces were able to arrest 14 mercenaries, and seize four armed vehicles during the clashes. The brigade had previously announced the closure of the border crossings with Sudan and Chad, until further notice.

It called on all vehicle and truck drivers to abide by the decision, given that “remnants of these criminal gangs” are being chased across the Chadian-Libyan border.

The area is notorious for being controlled by gangs, drug smugglers, and human traffickers, most of whom are from neighbouring states. The operation was reportedly targeting illegal immigrants, and drug dealers.

Libya has become the preferred point of departure for thousands of migrants wishing to cross the Mediterranean to Europe.

31 nations agree to release 60 million barrels of oil reserves in message to Russia
[IsraelTimes] All 31 countries that are members of the International Energy Agency agree to release 60 million barrels of oil from their strategic reserves "to send a strong message to oil markets" that there will be "no shortfall in supplies" as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the group says.

The IEA board makes the decision at an extraordinary meeting of energy ministers chaired by US Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm

. Besides the United States, other members of the organization include Germany, La Belle France, the United Kingdom, Japan and Canada.

IEA members hold emergency stockpiles of 1.5 billion barrels of oil. The release amounts to 4% of stockpiles, or roughly 2 million barrels per day for 30 days.

"The situation in energy markets is very serious and demands our full attention," IEA executive director Fatih Birol says. "Global energy security is under threat, putting the world economy at risk during a fragile stage of the recovery."

At least 9 migrants drown, 9 rescued off Tunisian coast
[AlAhram] At least nine migrants colonists died after their boat capsized off Tunisian coast, the Tunisian defense ministry said Tuesday.

The bodies were recovered by the country's coastiess while two units of the Navy rescued nine other migrants colonists, including some at death's door. They were from varying African nations, it said.

The statement did not specify how many people were believed to be on the boat. Searches were still underway.

The boat sank Monday near the port of Mahdia in a central-east region of Tunisia, from where many people try to cross the Mediterranean Sea to Europe.

According to survivors' accounts, the migrants colonists aged from about 25 to 30 had left from Sfax, the main city in south Tunisia, in the night from Sunday to Monday.

According to the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights, an NGO monitoring migration issues, Tunisian coastiessintercepted last year about 20,000 migrants colonists who were trying go to Europa

Afghanistan
Taliban conduct sweeping house-to-house search across Kabul, ban evacuations
[IsraelTimes] Spokesperson says they are looking for armed ’kidnappers, thieves and looters’ after string of robberies and kidnappings in Afghanistan’s capital

The Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
are conducting a massive security sweep of Kabul and other Afghan cities, their front man said Sunday, going house-to-house in search of weapons and criminals blamed for a recent spate of robberies and kidnappings.

The operation, which started Friday, has alarmed many who fear being targeted because of their association with the previous Western-backed regime or the US-led foreign forces who finally withdrew on August 31.

Some irate residents posted videos on social media showing homes they said had been trashed during Taliban searches, but several people told AFP their encounters had been polite and cursory.

"It was just my nephew at home when they came and they made a big mess," said one resident, who asked not to be named, showing AFP a series of pictures that revealed considerable disruption.

The Taliban called the sweep a "clearing operation."

"We are trying to take steps against those kidnappers, thieves and looters who have weapons in their hands and threaten the lives of the people," front man Zabihullah Mujahid told a news conference.

He said authorities had discovered two kidnap victims during the operation, and also freed two teenage girls who they found chained in a basement.

Mujahid said light and heavy weapons, explosives, radio equipment and drones had been seized, as well as vehicles belonging to the military or government.

group were tossed into the calaboose, he said, along with nine kidnappers and 53 "professional thieves."

"We want to assure the residents of Kabul that these operations are not against the common people," Mujahid said.

"The residents of the city should be confident the search is going on carefully."

The Taliban have also stepped up street patrols in the capital and established temporary roadblocks at key intersections, where they search vehicles at random or check the identities of those inside.

Dozens of newly trained policewomen were involved in the sweep in case there were no men at houses being searched, Mujahid said.

Social media showed images and video clips of doors and wardrobes that had been bashed in, cushions and mattresses slashed open, and belongings strewn across floors.

"The intimidations, house searches, arrests and violence against members of different ethnic groups and women are crimes and must stop immediately," tweeted Andreas von Brandt, the European Union

Taliban ban Afghans from evacuating amid massive security sweep
Afghanistan

[AlAhram] The Taliban
...Arabic for students...
have clamped down on Afghans leaving the country as, separately, their forces continue a massive security sweep, going house-to-house across the capital Monday in a "clearing operation".

The new travel ban was announced late Sunday by Taliban front man Zabihullah Mujahid, who packaged the restrictions as being aimed at preventing hardship for Afghans abroad.

Evacuations organised by nations or non-governmental organizations have been banned, while even families attempting to leave the country by their own means now need "an excuse", or they will be stopped by immigration.

"I have to say clearly that persons who leave the country along with their families and have no excuse... we are preventing them," Mujahid told a presser late Sunday.

Women will also not be able to fly abroad unless accompanied by a male relative mirroring similar domestic restrictions introduced last year which bar solo travel between cities and towns.

"If they (women) want to travel abroad, they should have a chaperone," Mujahid said.

"This is the order of Islamic sharia law."

The announcement came the same weekend a search for "kidnappers, thieves and looters" kicked off in Kabul and other Afghan cities -- a so-called "clearing operation" separate from the travel measures.

The new travel restrictions will alarm tens of thousands of Afghans who have been promised asylum abroad after working with US-led foreign forces or other Western organizations during the Taliban's 20-year insurgency.

More than 120,000 Afghans and dual nationals were evacuated up to August 31 when the last US-led troops withdrew, two weeks after the hardline Islamists seized Kabul.

Thousands with similar links are still in Afghanistan, however, desperate to leave and fearful they may be targeted by the Taliban as "collaborators".

The last official evacuation by air was on December 1, although organised road convoys to Pakistain have taken place as recently as last week.

BAD CONDITIONS
Mujahid said the decision to ban departures came because the Taliban had received reports of thousands of Afghans "living in very bad conditions" abroad.

"The government has the responsibility to protect the people so this will be stopped until we get the assurance that their lives will not be endangered," he said, adding that they had never promised for evacuations to continue indefinitely.

"Initially we had said that the Americans... could take people whom they had any concerns about... But this is not a continuous promise."

Since the Taliban took over Kabul in August, Afghanistan has plunged into economic crisis, pushing even those without links to the former regime to scramble for an exit.

Convoy approaching Ukrainian capital appears stalled as Russia unleashes greater firepower
[WAPO] DNIPRO, Ukraine — Russia intensified strikes on cities across Ukraine on Tuesday, but the advance of foreign forces ground to a halt outside Kyiv as local troops and volunteers steeled themselves for a fierce battle for the capital.

U.S. and British officials said a long column of tanks and combat vehicles was stalled roughly 20 miles north of Kyiv on the sixth day of President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, deepening questions about whether Moscow’s assault will yield a protracted war of resistance with its much smaller, less powerful neighbor.

The convoy, stretching some 40 miles, has moved little over the past day as the Russian forces have grappled with fuel and food shortages, a U.S. defense official told reporters, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive situation.

In its most recent battlefield update, the British Defense Ministry said Ukrainian forces continue to hold the cities of Kharkiv, Kherson and Mariupol, but all three "are now likely encircled by Russian forces," and air and artillery attacks on urban areas are intensifying.

The United Nations has recorded more than 130 civilian deaths since the beginning of the fighting last week, including 13 children, mostly because of shelling and rocket fire. The true human toll is likely far much higher, the UN’s High Commissioner for Human Rights said.

Officials say Moscow has now pushed into Ukraine more than 80 percent of the combat power it staged within Russian border areas and in neighboring Belarus in recent months, demonstrating Putin’s determination to cripple a Western-backed government he claims has undermined Russian security. Ukraine has refused to forswear its right to join the NATO military alliance, a proposition Putin has described as a red line.

The conflict has upended global ties with Russia, triggering successive rounds of international sanctions, including measures targeting Russia’s central bank and cutting the country off from the global financial system. European nations have also come together in defiance of Putin’s actions, with some countries abandoning their long-standing policies of neutrality or conflict-avoidance to expand military support to Ukraine.
I doubt the convoy is stalled. Probably just awaiting the final rocket barrage softening up before going in.

It's not just a Russian problem. When we were sent into the Balkans, our uncontested column was stopped on a flooded river bank for two days, cause they left the engineer battalion that far back in the road march.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Palestinian girl, 11, wounded as worshippers and police clash at Damascus Gate
[IsraelTimes] Moslem Paleostinians gathered to celebrate al-Israa wa al-Miraj, the anniversary of Mohammad’s journey to al-Aqsa holy site; police say Paleostinians rioted and threw stones at cops

An 11-year-old Paleostinian girl was hospitalized after being struck in the head by a sound grenade fired by police during festivities near Damascus Gate on Monday afternoon, as Paleostinians gathered in Jerusalem for an Islamic holiday.

Police dispersed groups of Paleostinians with stun grenades and blasts of acrid-smelling high-pressure water from cannons. Dozens of passersby, including women, children and a man in a wheelchair, fled for cover.

One of the sound grenades smashed in the face of the 11-year-old Paleostinian girl. Medics immediately rushed her to Jerusalem’s Hadassah Ein Karem hospital in moderate condition, according to a Hadassah spokesperson.

According to police, Paleostinians had "chanted incitement and threw stones and bottles at police on the scene." A spokesperson for Jerusalem police did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the maimed 11-year-old girl.

"Police forces have acted these past few hours to protect public order and prevent rioting," an Israel Police spokesperson said.

The girl’s family identified her as Manwar Burqan, a resident of the middle-class Shuafat neighborhood in East Jerusalem. Burqan is deaf and attends a special needs school in the city.

Around 25 Paleostinians were maimed during the festivities, according to the Paleostinian Red Islamic Thingy. Twenty Paleostinians were arrested and four officers were maimed, according to Israel Police.

Thousands of Paleostinians had gathered in the Old City entryway to celebrate al-Israa wa al-Miraj. The holiday celebrates the miraculous "night journey" of Islam’s prophet, Mohammad, from Mecca to Jerusalem.

According to Islamic tradition, Mohammad ascended heavenwards from the al-Aqsa Mosque, which Jews also revere as the site of both Biblical temples. Paleostinian Moslems often celebrate the holiday by gathering in Jerusalem for festivities and prayer at the shrine.

Cops also appeared to violent mostly peacefully slap a Paleostinian girl while subduing her on the ground, according to footage from the scene of the festivities.

In another video, a Paleostinian runs after a cop and pushes him onto the ground as the officer grapples with a second Paleostinian.

The stairway leading to Damascus Gate is a popular site for Paleostinians to enjoy the holiday cheer before heading to the al-Aqsa Mosque for prayers. But the gateway has also become one of Jerusalem’s most charged sites.

Clashes between Paleostinians and police in the area were part of the buildup to last year’s war between Israel and the Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", terror group. Israeli police prevented Paleostinians from sitting on the steps during Ramadan — a longtime Jerusalem tradition — leading to violent mostly peaceful festivities.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Atomic City News - Active shooter threat reported at Hanford, workers gummit employees advised to duck and cover
[YAKTRI News] RICHLAND, Wash. — Employees, and security at the Hanford reservation are on high alert over reports of a possible active shooter in the East building near the center of the site.
At least someone at Hanford is "active."
A representative from the U.S. Dept. of Energy confirmed the investigation is active, and that employees are currently in lockdown.

As of Noon on March 1, Hanford Patrol has not found any evidence of shots fired in their facility. Still, personnel from building 2750 E have been evacuated out of an abundance of caution as the search continues.

An emergency text message alert issued to employees at the site was obtained by KAPP KVEW. It reads as follows:

HANFORD SECURITY INCIDENT INFORMATION: Active Assailant at 2750E in 200 East Area. Affected employees prepare to run fight hide. Employees in nearby buildings are to lockdown and prepare to run fight hide. All others stay away.
Caution: Do not hide in vats of bubbling goo.
Search teams are investigating buildings where the reports were sourced. At the time of this publishing, no injuries or fatalities have been confirmed.

Law enforcement agencies from across the Tri-Cities region are responding to assist with this critical incident.
Pasco PD arrives on burros.
Established as part of the Manhattan Project in the 1940s, the Hanford Site produced the plutonium used in the atomic bomb dropped in Japan during World War II. Currently, it’s home to one of the world’s largest nuclear cleanup efforts.
A mess that can never really be cleaned up.
This is a breaking news story. An update and/or follow-up will be issued as further details are revealed.

  • Employees heard a loud bang
  • Hanford Patrol, RPD, BCSO, FBI, DOE searched the facility and found no evidence of a gun
Three eyed fish farting near the bank of the Columbia River is now suspected.

    Cyber
'Russian Propaganda' Is The Latest Excuse To Expand Censorship
In which Caitlyn Johnstone outs herself as a tool of the Russian government, while making a legitimate point about the impulse to control online speech. The politics is settled is a terrible way to go through life.
[ZeroHedge] “I’m concerned about Russian disinformation spreading online, so today I wrote to the CEOs of major tech companies to ask them to restrict the spread of Russian propaganda,” US Senator Mark Warner tweeted on Friday.

Since then YouTube has announced that it has suppressed videos by Russian state media channels so that they’ll be seen by fewer people in accordance with its openly acknowledged policy of algorithmically censoring unauthorized content, as well as de-monetizing all such videos on the platform. Google and Facebook/Instagram parent company Meta both banned Russian state media from running ads and monetizing on their platforms in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Twitter announced a pause on ads in both Russia and Ukraine.

“Glad to see action from tech companies to reign in Russian propaganda and disinformation after my letter to their CEOs yesterday,” Warner tweeted on Saturday. “These are important first steps, but I’ll keep pushing for more.”

For years US lawmakers have been using threats of profit-destroying consequences to pressure Silicon Valley companies into limiting online speech in a way that aligns with the interests of Washington, effectively creating a system of government censorship by proxy. It would appear that we’re seeing a new expansion of this phenomenon today.

And the imperial media are pushing for more. Articles and news segments warning of the sinister threat posed by Russian propaganda to misinform and divide western populations using the internet are being churned out at a rate that’s only likely to increase as this latest narrative management campaign gets into full gear. The Associated Press has a new article out for example titled “War via TikTok: Russia’s new tool for propaganda machine”.

“Armies of trolls and bots stir up anti-Ukrainian sentiment.
We’ve noticed the dear little chew toys here at Rantburg. One can only hope they embrace the learning experience to better understand their enemy.
State-controlled media outlets look to divide Western audiences. Clever TikTok videos serve up Russian nationalism with a side of humor,” AP warns.
Unlike Ay Pee journalists, TikTok is not where I go to form my opinions.
“Analysts at several different research organizations contacted by The Associated Press said they are seeing a sharp increase in online activity by groups affiliated with the Russian state,” AP writes. “That’s in keeping with Russia’s strategy of using social media and state-run outlets to galvanize domestic support while seeking to destabilize the Western alliance.”
So is the Ukraine side. The internet is just another battlefield in these modern times.
The “different research organizations” AP ends up citing include “Cyabra, an Israeli tech company that works to detect disinformation,”
    Oh noze! The Jooooooooooos!!!
as well as the state-funded NATO narrative management firm The Atlantic Council.
That means they’re a think tank. Lots of cachet, little impact.
As tends to happen whenever a consensus begins to form that a certain category of speech must be purged from the internet, imperial spinmeisters are already working to expand the definition of “Russian propaganda” which must be purged from the internet to include independent anti-imperialist commentators like myself.
Russia just arrests those who say things the government doesn’t like. Someone should look in on her in six months to see if her website is still live.
Imperial narrative manager Robert Potter has a thread on Twitter currently calling for me and other anti-imperialist content creators to be labeled “State-Affiliated Media” on Twitter and ideally de-platformed across all western social media, in my case solely because RT is one of the many outlets who occasionally choose to republish some of my blog posts for free.

I am not as Potter claims “an OP Ed columnist for Russia Today.” I don’t work for RT, I don’t write for RT, I don’t submit articles to RT, and I’ve never been paid by RT or the Russian government. RT is just one of the outlets who sometimes avail themselves of my longstanding invitation for anyone who wants to to republish my work free of charge. That RT editors would find my daily rants against western imperialism agreeable is not scandalous or conspiratorial but normal and self-evident.
Free content using standard spelling and grammar and a minimum of exclamation points is not to be sneezed at.
Yet for agents of imperial narrative control
Oh dear. Still, it’s important to recognize the cant. There are entire drinking games based on recognizing the catch phrases.
like Potter (who ironically works directly for the US State Department but thinks my posts should be labeled “State-Affiliated Media” by Twitter), even this is enough to justify complete silencing. I will not be in the slightest bit surprised to see a great deal more of these efforts as the new cold war continues to escalate.

The Center for Countering Digital Hate, an empire-loyal NGO ostensibly focused primarily on fighting racism and prejudice, has published a report accusing Facebook of failing to label Russian propaganda as such 91 percent of the times it occurs. The CCDH decried Mark Zuckerberg’s “failure to stop Facebook being weaponized by the Russian state”.

This sudden narrative management thrust has also seen RT taken off the air in nations like Australia, Germany and Poland, with pressures mounting in France and the UK to follow suit.

(Extremely limited explanation: Most long distance Internet traffic flows through very high bandwidth 'peering points' that join up various national and commercial IP carriers. U.N. Slaps Expanded Arms Embargo on Yemen's Houthi Rebels
[AnNahar] The U.N. Security Council has voted to impose an expanded arms embargo on Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
    's Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
rebels, saying they have threatened the peace, security and stability of the war-torn country.

Council members said the rebels are responsible for attacking civilians, commercial shipping in the Red Sea, and Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Fifteen of the nineteen WTC hijackers were Saudis, and most major jihadi commanders were Saudis, to include Osama bin Laden. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman quietly folded that tent in 2016, doing terrible things to the guys running it, and has since been dragging the kingdom into the current century...
    and the United Arab Emirates.

The Security Council had already imposed an asset freeze, travel ban and arms embargo against Houthi leaders and brass hats, but this resolution dramatically expands the arms embargo to include all Houthis.

The British-drafted resolution said the Iran-backed Houthis "implemented a policy of sexual violence and repression against politically active and professional women, engaged in the recruitment and use of children," indiscriminately used land mines and improvised bombs and obstructed humanitarian aid to Yemenis.

Monday's vote was 11-0, with Ireland, Norway, Brazil and Mexico abstaining amid concerns about the negative impact on the humanitarian situation in the Arab world's poorest nation and the risk of undermining a fragile political process.

The resolution says there is no military solution to the current conflict and that the only viable path forward is "dialogue and reconciliation among the multiple and varied parties."

It extends the mandate of the U.N. panel of experts monitoring implementation of the sanctions until March 28, 2023.

In their last report circulated on Jan. 29, the experts said nearly 2,000 children recruited by the Houthis died on the battlefield between January 2020 and May 2021, and the Iranian-backed rebels continue to hold camps and courses encouraging youngsters to fight.

    Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Palestinian shot dead by Israeli soldiers in West Bank under unclear circumstances
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinian health officials say Ammar Shafiq Abu Afifa, 21, was killed by soldiers at entrance to Beit Fajjar, south of Bethlehem; IDF does not say what he was suspected of

A Paleostinian man was rubbed out by Israeli soldiers in the West Bank on Tuesday afternoon, the Paleostinian Authority Health Ministry and the Israeli military said.

Paleostinian health officials identified the man as Ammar Shafiq Abu Afifa from the al-Aroub refugee camp near Hebron. They said he was shot on the outskirts of Beit Fajjar, near Bethlehem.

Officials said that they had received the report from the PA branch that handles ties with Israel, meaning that Abu Afifa’s body was likely in Israeli custody.

Nearly four hours after the incident occurred, the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement that soldiers operating security cameras identified two "suspects" approaching a lookout point near the settlement of Migdal Oz.

Troops dispatched to the scene chased the two men, and opened fire toward them according to open-fire procedures, the military said. Such procedure includes shouting at a suspect to halt, firing into the air, and only using deadly force if the soldier feels threatened.

The IDF did not detail what the two men were actually suspected of doing. It said the army was investigating the matter.

Also on Tuesday, amid festivities in the northern West Bank, a Paleostinian who hurled a Molotov cocktail at troops was shot at, a military spokesperson said.

According to the IDF, some 20 Paleostinians hurled stones at soldiers, and set tires on fire near the village of Burqa. "One of the suspects approached the troops and threw a Molotov cocktail at them. The troops responded with gunfire," the spokesperson said.

The official Paleostinian Authority news agency WAFA said the man was seriously hurt and taken to a hospital in Nablus. The military was aware of this claim.

Earlier Tuesday, security officials said a battle in the northern West Bank left two Paleostinian button men dead.

The Israel Police said undercover Border Police officers came under fire while arresting a terror suspect in the Jenin refugee camp. The suspect, Emad Abu al-Heija, is a son of an imprisoned senior Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®, commander.

Paleostinian media identified the two fatalities as 19-year-old Shadi al-Najm and 22-year-old Abdullah al-Housri. The Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
terror group immediately claimed al-Housri as one of its fighters. al-Najm was later claimed by the loosely Fatah-affiliated al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade as a "fighting member."

The West Bank has seen a rise in violent mostly peaceful confrontations between Israeli soldiers and Paleostinians in recent weeks, leaving at least six Paleostinians dead. In an increasing number of cases, soldiers entering Paleostinian areas to conduct routine arrests have been fired upon by armed terror group members, prompting shootouts.

‘Disturbing and Entirely Unbecoming': Texas GOP Primary Candidate Rips Rep. Van Taylor for Allegedly Paying ‘ISIS Bride' to Keep Quiet About Affair
The affair is seedy, but when political opponents talk to reporters about it, that’s traditional dirty politics. And the lady has been working hard and publicly to demonstrate that she has turned her back on ISIS.
[Breitbart] Texas district-three Republican primary candidate Suzanne Harp ripped Rep. Van Taylor (R-TX)
    ...proud Iraqi War veteran...
for allegedly paying ‘ISIS Bride’ Tania Joya
...Bangladeshi-British former wife of the senior Westerner in ISIS, she was known as Joya Choudhury Tania before she and the kiddies left ISIS (and Islam) to settle with her former husband's parents in Dallas, spilling all she knew to the authorities. There she remarried, baptized her children as Christians, and celebrated the Jewish holidays with her dear friends at the local Reform synagogue, followed by working to reeducate other ISIS wives and kiddies...
to keep quiet about a raunchy affair that Breitbart News first reported Monday.

“These allegations against congressman Van Taylor are disturbing and entirely unbecoming of a sitting U.S. Representative,” Suzanne Harp wrote in a press release, citing Breitbart News’ Monday reporting.

“We cannot afford to dismiss these allegations outright; if they prove true, it not only could be highly embarrassing for Texas’s third district, but also dangerous to have compromised and corrupt representation in Washington,” she continued.

As Breitbart News reported, according to documents ‘ISIS bride’ Tania Joya shared with Breitbart News, Taylor was engaged in a sexual scandal with Joya that allegedly lasted from November 2020 to June 2021 — during which time she says Taylor paid her $5,000.
Being a politician’s mistress isn’t nearly as lucrative as I expected, assuming her tale is true.
The payment, she claims, was paid in cash given to her by the congressman. Joya showed Breitbart News banking records that demonstrate she made a $5,000 deposit into her account when she says the affair occurred.

Taylor is married with three children and was first elected to Congress in 2019 as a Republican. Taylor voted in favor of enacting the January 6 Committee. Breitbart News reported:

Joya told Breitbart News her affair with Taylor began in October 2020, and they became intimate in November 2020.

“He considered me his girlfriend. He labeled me his girlfriend, his mistress,” Tania told Breitbart News. “I told him that I found him attractive. After that for an entire month, every day during October 2020, he wouldn’t stop messaging me like crazy. It was just so distracting. He was going crazy for it.”

“He said he wanted me to be his loyal, faithful, and permanent mistress,” she claimed.

Joya is originally from the U.K. but moved to Syria in 2013 after she met John Thomas Georgelas, an American-born convert to Islam, jihadist, and supporter of the Islamic State.
Mr. Georgelas took the Muslim name Yahya al-Bahrumi, and was also known as Yahya Abu Hassan. After a stint in American prison for plotting to hack the AIPAC website, he took his family to Morsi’s Egypt, leaving for ISIS in Syria only after the Muslim Brotherhood government was overthrown. After Tania Joya left him, he became the right-hand man of ISIS chief strategist Abu Muhammad al-Adnani. Georgelas was killed in 2017 in northern Syria, fighting for ISIS...
After being treated badly by Georgelas, she fled and worked with American authorities “so we could drone him,” she said of Georgelas to Breitbart News.

Joya now lives in America and met Taylor a few years ago.

Taylor is seeking reelection in the third district of Texas in a tough five-way primary race. Taylor needs to win at least 50 percent of the vote to avoid a runoff.

#1  If it's an affair, what's wrong with it? He didn't coerce her. And it's best to set the bar low these days when speaking of what's 'becoming of a sitting U.S. Representative.'

#3  I did go look a picture of her up. Definitely not worth seeing. Not worth wrecking a political career over. Not worth paying for the dubious privilege.

#4  Taylor will be in a run-off, but looks pretty safe. Harp came in a distant third:

    Taylor (R) 31,168 48.7
    Self (R) 16,959 26.5
    Harp (R) 13,319 20.8
    Williams (R) 1,721 2.7
    Ivanovskis (R) 814 1.3

#5  After generation of the Left trying to shame the rest because of our pols' 'open zipper' behaviors and not caring about their own, they've taught us not to care.

#6  Yes. Larry Craig's "wide stance" as opposed to Katie Hill's salmagundi approach.

At this point I'm pretty jaded about it and I'd imagine so are most other people. Still, as long as one politician thinks they can use that sort of accusation against another, it will remain part of the game...

#10  Taylor's sex life, so what? But he lied about it. That's disqualifying.

#11  When will they put "None of the above" as an option on ballots. What would be the remedy for such an outcome?
    Posted by: JohnQC || 03/02/2022 20:56 Comments || Top||

#12  As usual, its not the "crime", its the coverup that get 'em.

#13  When will they put "None of the above" as an option on ballots.

This is the key to fixing the Uni-party. If None Of The Above wins, the election is a do-over, but with new candidates. We're getting tired of the "lesser of two grifters" thing.

A new attack targets the US-led Coalition in Iraq

Shafaq News / An explosion occurred on Tuesday targeting a convoy carrying logistical support equipment for the US-led Coalition on the Highway between Samawa and Nasiriyah, southern Iraq.

A security source told Shafaq News Agency the attack caused no causalities.

There was no claim for responsibility.

The Iraqi authorities issued several warnings of repeated targeting of foreign forces and diplomatic missions in the country.

On January 5, the Iraqi parliament voted by majority to end the foreign military presence on the country's territory, following the killing of the Iranian Quds Force commander, Qassem Soleimani, and the deputy head Al-Hashd Al-Shaabi, Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, in an American airstrike near Baghdad International Airport.

Washington accuses armed Iraqi factions linked to Iran of being behind the attacks.
