#1 ...you overrate the Soviet Russian capabilities of logistics. The Suez Canal leap by the Egyptians was a classical Russian model. One big push, then what? Appears nothing has changed much. In those 40 miles, have sats shown any fuel staging points?
It's not just a Russian problem. When we were sent into the Balkans, our uncontested column was stopped on a flooded river bank for two days, cause they left the engineer battalion that far back in the road march.

#2 I doubt the convoy is stalled.

Me, too. I see it as a threat to help focus the upcoming peace talks/surrender.

#3 total bullshit from western agitprop press
there's no evidence at all that this was not Russia's plan from the start - grab the critical south and landbridge to Krym peninsula then move north to create cauldron like against fascist armies in 1943 and 1944

#4 First, they have no where to go, no staging areas, no spot to rally. They expected to roll into a passive environment. Now they are strung out and vulnerable. My only question is why are the Ukrainians not attacking them. Seems odd.

#5 Maybe they're just waiting for a tow.

#6 ..like against fascist armies in 1943 and 1944

That was a better Russian Army, actually battle harden with fewer yes men. It's more like the one in the summer of 1941 now, full of 'politically reliable leaders'. Don't worry, we're now working on installing those types in ours.

#7 As an aside, anyone have an idea about the nature and load-bearing condition of the areas adjacent to the MSR/Column? Are they road bound in part because of trafficability issues that would be created by so many tracked vehicles?

#8 Kyiv temperatures are low 30s (F) now, rising to high 30s in next few days. Once the ground starts to thaw, it will be the spring mud season. Lots of problems for heavy armor off of heavy duty roadbeds.

#9 Ref #8. No problem at all for abandoned heavy armor.....just say'n.

#10 @9 well looking at some of the tanks and trucks abandoned already, they were axel deep in mud so it is only going to get worse.

The other day, had rain in the forecast, too.

#15 The Russian army has two four-stars which have done them a lot of good over the years; General Winter and General Mud.
