said he will not vote to confirm Sarah Bloom Raskin to a top Federal Reserve role, likely killing her nomination. Good
The West Virginia centrist Democrat announced his opposition in a Monday news release. He cited the importance of the Fed in fighting inflation and past remarks Raskin has made that are skeptical of fossil fuels in his decision to oppose her nomination.
Raskin, whom President Joe Biden nominated to be the Fed’s vice chairwoman of supervision, has faced intense scrutiny from Republican members of the Senate Banking Committee. Republicans contend that Raskin would use the Fed improperly to combat climate change. They say she has advocated having the Fed allocate capital and choke off credit to disfavored industries, such as oil and gas, although Raskin pushed back on that assertion during her confirmation hearing.
In an article published last September, Raskin suggested that financial regulators need to "reimagine their own role so that they can play their part in the broader reimagining of the economy."
"Climate change threatens financial stability; addressing it can create economic opportunity and more jobs," she wrote in a New York Times op-ed in 2020. "The decisions the Fed makes on our behalf should build toward a stronger economy with more jobs in innovative industries — not prop up and enrich dying ones."
In 2020, she said climate change is happening and that "whether or not you believe in it, it’s the Fed’s job to be mitigating the impact of exogenous shock."
Raskin tried to assuage the concerns of the GOP lawmakers during her hearing by pushing back on the notion that the Fed should pick winners and losers. She's lying
"It is inappropriate for the Fed to make credit decisions and allocations," Raskin told lawmakers during the hearing. "Banks choose their borrowers, not the Fed."
Still, Manchin, who has a background in the coal industry, said he was unconvinced from her testimony.
"Now more than ever, the United States must have policy leaders and economic experts who are focused on the most pressing issues facing the American people and our nation — specifically rising inflation and energy costs," he said. "Her previous public statements have failed to satisfactorily address my concerns about the critical importance of financing an all-of-the-above energy policy to meet our nation’s critical energy needs."
Republicans have been playing hardball with Raskin’s nomination because of their opposition to her statements about the role of the central bank and because of questions about her work at a Colorado-based fintech company.

The more I see of Joe Manchin, the more I like him. VERY happy that the Senate Democrats are not so monolithic as the House ones.

They hate us and want us to suffer. It's the only way they can achieve their utopia. Of course, they'll never get to the utopia; they just constantly move the goalposts.
[Garden & Gun] The track "Honey Chile"—which Garden & Gun is proud to premiere below—paints an image of longing, reminiscing about a time, and perhaps a person, from the narrator’s past. Musically, the song is something of a salvo for the whole of Paint This Town, rising out of the gates with a bold swell before settling into a traditional Americana-tinged groove. But as fans of the band might expect, a sense of propulsive rock and roll is hiding just around the corner, showcasing Old Crow’s uncanny ability to make music that honors the past just as much as it looks toward the future. It’s a balance struck all over Paint This Town, which also features a few new members, including drummer and mandolin player Jerry Pentecost and multi-instrumentalists Mike Harris and Mason Via.
Watch the video for "Honey Chile"—filmed at Hartland Studio—below. And read on to hear from Old Crow frontman Ketch Secor on recording the album. Paint This Town is out April 22

[NY Post] A good reason to remove Russia from the internet.
Russia appears to have officially declared cyberwar on the US, taking what’s been described as preliminary steps at crippling its banking system and possibly other major industries, The Post has learned.
The Biden administration has been working with bank executives for months about preparing for cyberattacks as retaliation over US sanctions.
How long have they been planning to lay sanctions on Russia?
The big US banks — JP Morgan, Citigroup, Bank of America, Goldman Sachs — are under constant attacks by cyber criminals looking to disrupt operations and steal client information. The usual suspects are most often located in Iran, China and, of course, Russia.
Bank executives tell The Post they’ve spent billions of dollars annually to protect against cyber criminals, but they say the recent wave of attacks is different. Sources describe them as a subtle but intensified assault on banks’ technological infrastructure that began after the sanctions over Ukraine were announced.

Hey rantburg!
Patriotism is also when media doesn’t lies on info coming from your opponent…and 90% of your Ukrainian reports are pure Cia propaganda.
This is some REAL News today:
In response to Western media reports that Moscow requested military aid from Beijing to conduct its operation in Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China has accused US officials of spreading disinformation with sinister intent.
“The United States has been spreading false information against China on the Ukraine issue recently, with sinister intentions,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said on Monday, answering a foreign reporter’s question on whether China will assist Russia with arms.

Hey Caligula! If you look, you’ll see that Rantburg also carries Russian propaganda from the FSB. We figure that’s a pretty fair balance, unless you want to claim that the CIA is much better at propaganda despite a century of practice, including time under the names of KGB, NIVD, Cheka, and the others in between.
Strategy Page gets seriously analytical, at length. The opening paragraph:
The Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 was not unexpected but the poor performance of the Russian military was a surprise, even to the Ukrainians. One of those surprises was the Russian inability to gain air superiority. The Russian air force has dominated the skies over Syria for years. But in Ukraine Russian helicopters (transports and gunships) as well as large transports were more often seen, and shot down, than Russian jet fighters and ground attack aircraft. The Russian helicopters still operate inside Ukraine, but have to do so carefully because the Ukrainians have received over 10,000 modern portable anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons, which were distributed to hundreds of small teams of twenty or so soldiers and local volunteers who know the local terrain and secondary roads better than the Russians. These teams are directed to roads used by Russian convoys or areas where combat vehicles are concentrated and carry out surprise attacks. Local civilians report Russian activity and this is passed on to the attack teams. Ukraine also receives recent commercial satellite photos of Russian activity. Ukraine also has over twenty armed (with laser guided missiles) TB2 UAVs purchased from Turkey before the invasion with more delivered, via Poland, in early March.

Russia is in trouble with their 'Special Military Operation.' Some armchair thoughts or bullets (mostly obvious):
1. Unexpectedly strong Ukraine resistance and resolve.
2. High casualty (KIA/WIA) figures/estimates.
3. Poor soldier performance.
4. Poor performance and tactics at the senior leader level. No 'Plan B.' Miserably failing combined arms tactics.
5. Requests for Syrian military assistance.
6. Requests for Chinese support.
7. Coms, fuel and logistics issues (poor prior planning).
8. Possible ammo, fuel, med supply shortages.
9. Global negative media impacts.
10. Negative opinions, protests, and impacts back home in Russian civilian sector.
11. Severe economic impacts. RU stock market closure. Ruble devaluation.
12. War crimes. Cluster munitions. Video targeting of civilians, hospitals, indicates change of tactics, desperation.
14. No status of Ukrainian POW's, no news of prisoner exchanges.
15. Putin anger, frustration, and failure to apparently grasp the enormity of the situation.
16. Polish sanctuary and arms (STINGER-Manpad, Intel reporting) re-supply issue.
17. Heavy equipment (armored vehicle, fuel tankers, and aircraft) losses.
18. EU and NATO taking new, updated look at the Russian threat and economic relationships.
19. Long-held notion of Soviet/Russian military invincibility severely impacted.
20. Potential for extended Ukrainian guerilla campaign likely.

[GA] Of all the fighting shotguns out there, the 590A1 has always been one of my favorites. I was issued one in my days as a Marine for a short period, and since then, I’ve been a fan. Mossberg’s famed 590A1 pump-action shotgun. The 590A1 came from a list of requirements made for the United States military. The 590A1 would form the basis of the fighting shotgun for the United States military. One of the latest models blends all the military’s requirements with a dose of old-school cool to form the Mossberg 590A1 Retrograde.

I'm not fancy. Any of the Remington 870s will do.
(Reuters) - Ukraine’s defense ministry on Saturday began using Clearview AI’s facial recognition technology, the company’s chief executive told Reuters, after the U.S. startup offered to uncover Russian assailants, combat misinformation and identify the dead.
Ukraine is receiving free access to Clearview AI’s powerful search engine for faces, letting authorities potentially vet people of interest at checkpoints, among other uses, added Lee Wolosky, an adviser to Clearview and former diplomat under U.S. presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
The plans started forming after Russia invaded Ukraine and Clearview Chief Executive Hoan Ton-That sent a letter to Kyiv offering assistance, according to a copy seen by Reuters.
Clearview said it had not offered the technology to Russia, which calls its actions in Ukraine a "special operation."
Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense did not reply to requests for comment. Previously, a spokesperson for Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation said it was considering offers from U.S.-based artificial intelligence companies like Clearview. Many Western businesses have pledged to help Ukraine, providing internet hardware, cybersecurity tools and other support.
The Clearview founder said his startup had more than 2 billion images from the Russian social media service VKontakte at its disposal, out of a database of over 10 billion photos total.
That database can help Ukraine identify the dead more easily than trying to match fingerprints and works even if there is facial damage, Ton-That wrote. Research for the U.S. Department of Energy found decomposition reduced the technology’s effectiveness while a paper from a 2021 conference showed promising results.
Ton-That’s letter also said Clearview’s technology could be used to reunite refugees separated from their families, identify Russian operatives and help the government debunk false social media posts related to the war.
The exact purpose for which Ukraine’s defense ministry is using the technology is unclear, Ton-That said. Other parts of Ukraine’s government are expected to deploy Clearview in the coming days, he and Wolosky said.
The VKontakte images make Clearview’s dataset more comprehensive than that of PimEyes, a publicly available image search engine that people have used to identify individuals in war photos, Wolosky said. VKontakte did not immediately respond to a request for comment; U.S. social media company Facebook, now Meta Platforms Inc, had demanded Clearview stop taking its data.
[Cannon] George Orwell now seems downright clairvoyant. The messaging from the White House surrounding inflation has been emblematic of the ironically named Ministry of Truth in the dystopian novel 1984, first published in 1949. It is worth reviewing the fluid narrative of the last 13 months before all the doublethink gets memory-holed.
In early 2021, the nation was told that there was no inflation. After that, those in power told us inflation was only transitory. Then, we were told the average American need not worry because inflation was only a high class problem. Later, inflation somehow became a harbinger of a good economy. Now, inflation is bad again and it’s either the fault of greedy monopolists or — in recent weeks — Russia.
This latest switch has come just in time for February’s consumer price index (CPI), which showed the general level of prices rising at a four-decade high of 7.9% over the last year and 0.8% in just the last month. At this latest monthly rate, prices are on pace to double in a little more than seven years. Put another way, the real value of wages will be cut in half in that same time.
Energy costs have been a large contributor to general price increases since President Joe Biden took office, largely because of his punitive regulatory policies. Against that backdrop, the White House’s latest sanctions on Russian oil imports are not being joined by Europe or China, which are now purchasing Russian oil at a discount. The impolitic move only raised American’s prices, while lowering Europe’s and China’s, and Putin is still getting paid.
Yet we are told that this is a crippling sanction. That is only true insofar as the American middle class are the ones being crippled. The Ministry of Truth would be proud.
To replace the Russian oil that America is no longer buying, we’re cozying up to Iran, asking it to pump more oil. The White House doesn’t seem to mind anymore that the Iranians are the biggest state sponsor of terrorism — the Iranians are now our friends, and we are in talks to allow them to restart their nuclear program. It is reminiscent of the sudden realignment of alliances in Orwell’s 1984: "Oceania is not at war with Eurasia. Oceania is at war with Eastasia. Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia."
The obvious answer is for American production to tap the abundant energy here at home, but the Biden administration’s war on domestic energy continues, with the White House citing unused drilling leases as proof that the oil and gas industry is holding back production and, therefore, to blame for higher prices.
[Cannon] It’s bad enough when politicians enact witless economic policies with huge price tags, but it’s even worse when those policies destroy American lives and livelihoods. New research shows that this will be the pandemic-era legacy of the politicians that forcibly closed businesses, made people stay home, then incentivized millions of out-of-work Americans to give up the opportunity to get their lives back on track.
It’s now clear that half the states kept destructive policies in place even after their devastating effects were known. What should have been a temporary bridge to keep people afloat while America tackled COVID-19 became a nightmare of dependence and depression.
In March of 2020, the federal government began paying weekly "bonuses" known as supplemental insurance to people on unemployment. That meant many people received more money from unemployment insurance than they did while working. It was even expanded to include those who hadn’t paid into the program.
By the fall, the country began emerging from the pandemic, vaccines became available, and business started to open again and look for workers. The speed of American resilience was something to behold. But the government refused to make the transition with the rest of the country and kept paying people to stay home.
Eliminating people’s jobs and paying them to be unemployed was robbing millions of Americans of the dignity that comes with finding purpose and achieving self-sufficiency. It destroyed lives, driving dependency on government, contributing to drug and alcohol addiction, and exacerbating isolation and depression.
These effects of the program were blatantly obvious through the spring of 2021 but that didn’t stop the Biden Administration and Congress from extending the benefits through September. By the summer of 2021, the nation had nearly 11 million unfilled jobs, a spike from just under 7.2 million at the beginning of the year.
That’s why 26 states decided to terminate the unemployment bonuses early instead of letting them expire in September 2021. At the time, some in the media portrayed the move as cruel, ripping critical funds away from those struggling during the pandemic.

13. Why did Mark Zuckerberg fork over $400 million to his personal charity to run a parallel private election system in 2020?
14. Why did the Special Counsel in Wisconsin just release a report that called Zuckerberg's donations in five Wisconsin counties a classic case of bribery?
15. Why did AG Merrick Garland at Biden's Department of Justice threaten to interfere in a post-election audit conducted in Arizona and authorized by the state of Arizona?

20. Why has Dominion Voting Systems refused to comply with the post-election audit in Arizona — which was ordered by the State of Arizona itself?
21. Why are more than 300,000 ballot transfer forms missing in Georgia's 2020 election?
22. Why did Dominion Voting Systems fail to show up and answer questions from the elected officials of Pennsylvania after the 2020 election?
23. Why do 204,430 mail-in ballots in Arizona have mismatched signatures?

I immediately had issues with extremely high pulse rates, breathlessness fatigue headaches and joint pain
I still occasionally have a recurrence of the high pulse rates which would be in excess of 155
I’m not going to take another booster because I’m afraid it will kill me
In fire, smoke and destruction.

I'm just sitting waiting for the dog that isn't barking. All those who accused the US of 'war crimes', in the Middle East where in the American took extreme measures to avoid civilian casualties, seem rather silent or muted with the amount of carnage now unfolding. They were never concerned with the collateral damage. They were just on the other side.
[The Hill] Top U.S. and Ukrainian officials are bracing for Russia's potential use of chemical weapons in the ongoing conflict between Moscow and Kyiv, although the Pentagon on Sunday said the U.S. has not seen signs of an "imminent chemical or biological attack right now" on Ukraine.
Questions over a possible chemical weapons attack by Russia emerged this week after Moscow accused the U.S. of housing biological weapons in Ukrainian territory — a statement the White House rejected.
The U.S. has warned that Russia may be making such claims to lay false pretexts for a potential attack by Moscow.
Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby told ABC’s "This Week" on Sunday that the U.S. has not "seen anything that indicates some sort of imminent chemical or biological attack right now," but emphasized the department is "watching this very, very closely."
[Western Journal] To explain the dark labyrinths of Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s mind, a former Defense Intelligence Agency agent talks about rats.
Rebekah Koffler, author of the book "Putin’s Playbook: Russia’s Secret Plan to Defeat America," said one key to Putin’s thinking is that he feels that he is "cornered like a rat," according to Fox News.
She said an anecdote contained in Putin’s autobiography "First Person" is a key to Putin’s outlook. In the anecdote, Putin wrote that he one day chased a large rat into a corner while walking through a rat-infested apartment building that was his childhood home in Leningrad.
When the rat could not retreat, it attacked, forcing Putting to run, the story went. Koffler said that story was used to show that Putin learned the lesson of fighting back.
"He wants people to know that when cornered, he will be fighting," Koffler told Fox. "He will not be surrendering."
[CT - UNCLAS Open Source Reporting] Russian forces secured limited advances east of Kyiv and north from Crimea on March 12 but continue to face logistical challenges, mounting casualties, and sustained Ukrainian counterattacks. Russian forces did not conduct offensive operations northwest of Kyiv in the past 24 hours. Russian forces made limited advances around Chernihiv and toward Kyiv’s eastern outskirts after pausing for several days. Continued Ukrainian counterattacks and successful operations by Ukraine’s Territorial Defense Forces continue to threaten Russia’s long line of communication in northeastern Ukraine. Russian forces captured unspecified "eastern outskirts" of Mariupol on March 12 and continue to shell the city in a likely effort to force it to capitulate.

Good! Good! Good! Now, who's up for some good old misinformation!
[Breitbart] Four men have been sentenced over the terror killing of a Catholic Priest in La Belle France, an attack that was perpetrated by self-described Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... members.
Sentences between seven years and life in prison have been handed down to four men in relation to the Islamic terror killing of French Priest Father Jacques Hamel, who was murdered at the foot of his church’s altar while celebrating mass.
The brutal killing — which saw the 85-year old have his throat slit while worshippers were taken hostage — occurred only weeks after a Tunisian drove a truck through a crowd of French civilians celebrating Bastille Day in 2016, an attack that killed 86 people.
According to a report by Rooters, none of the men sentenced on Wednesday had been present during the attack, but all were found to have some involvement with the two terrorist killers — both of whom claimed membership of the Islamic State.
Three of the defendants were handed down sentences ranging from eight to 13 years, with the fourth man — who is assumed to have been killed in a dronezap in Iraq in 2017 — being sentenced in absentia to life in prison for sponsoring the attack.
Dominique Lebrun, who serves as Archbishop of Rouen, reportedly praised the trial’s result, as well as its unusual feeling of "spirituality", with some of the injured parties publicly forgiving the convicted men during the court proceedings.
The issue of Islamic terror — along with the apparently concomitant issues of immigration and national identity — has reached the fore of French politics, with the ongoing presidential race seeing candidates on the populist right making great strides in opinion polls.
Both Marine Le Pen of Rassemblement National and Eric Zemmour of Reconquête have taken hardline stances against Islamic extremism, with Le Pen suggesting that religious headscarves be banned from public places, while Zemmour warned that La Belle France would become a "large Lebanon Hezbollahstan ...Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. ... " by 2050 if nothing changes.
More centrist candidates have also changed their approaches to dealing with more populist issues, with French Republican candidate Valérie Pécresse being accused of courting voters to her right after she made reference to the "great replacement" theory in a campaign speech.
Macron’s government has also since taken a much more hardline position when it comes to fundamentalist Islam.
Government officials now routinely shutter mosques for preaching murderous Moslem ideology in the country, while the President himself has revealed a "Forum of Islam" aimed at reshaping the religion as it exists in the Fifth Republic.
The Macron administration has also seemingly strong-armed a number of Islamic groups in the country into signing a French government charter that involves them renouncing political Islam, while also committing to end what it describes as foreign involvement in French Moslem life.
Critics however have warned that the document contains within it definitions of terms which are "problematic", and risk criminalising "religious practices that are part of the common foundation of Islam and which are guaranteed by the Constitution".
[Breitbart] As many as ten per cent of the women who attempted to reach Spain illegally by boat in 2021 were killed, double the death rate of male migrants colonists, according to statistics compiled by a Spanish NGO.
The Association for Human Rights of Andalusia claims that for every hundred men who board boats to head to Spanish territory from Africa, five end up dying, while the statistics for women is double, with ten in a hundred dying during the journey.
The NGO notes that the high number of deaths among women is "due to the fact that women, often pregnant or accompanied by minors, are placed on long journeys in the centre of the boats, which in the event of a shipwreck limits their chances of survival, which are further reduced by the responsibility of saving their son or daughter."
The association claims that of the over 2,000 people who died trying to reach Spain last year, 81 per cent were men and 19 per cent were women. The number of deaths in 2021 was 24 per cent higher than the previous year, largely due to the increased popularity of the dangerous route from the African coast to Spain’s Canary Islands.
Of the 2,126 deaths along the various route to Spain last year, 1,332 of them took place along the Canary Islands route, and of the total just 1,457 bodies have been found while 669 people remain missing, El Mundo reports.
Women have also been found dead along other sea-based migrant routes to Europa ...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum... over the last year, including the central Mediterranean route to Italia and the eastern route to Greece.
In July, a pregnant woman was among the seven people found dead off the coast of the island of Lampedusa in what was just a fraction of the total number of migrants colonists who have died trying to cross the Mediterranean to Italia.
In February of last year, reports noted the increasing presence of pregnant women on migrant boats arriving in Italia, leading to speculation that people-traffickers were purposely putting pregnant women on the dangerous boats as a means to increase their business by encouraging authorities to perform quicker rescues.

[Breitbart] African migrants colonists, along with a host of other nationalities, are exploiting the war in Ukraine to enter La Belle France, a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) has claimed.
Nicolas Bay MEP has claimed that African migrants colonists are using refugee channels aimed at helping those fleeing the war in Ukraine to enter La Belle France.
Ultimately, the politician believes around one-third of migrants colonists using the route are not from Ukrainian, a figure suggested in a recent article published in Le Figaro but hotly disputed by official sources.
According to Le Monde, a number of French right-wing populists have denounced the alleged use of refugee routes by non-Ukrainian economic migrants colonists, with Bay, the vice-president of presidential candidate Eric Zemmour’s party Reconquêt (Reconquest) perhaps being the most prominent.
"[T]oday a third of the refugees who pass through Ukraine who do not come from Ukraine, but... come from sub-Saharan Africa in particular... [they] use this new migratory route to come to Europe," the publication reports the French MEP as saying.
Bay also emphasised that La Belle France has an obligation to help Ukrainian refugees, saying that those coming from the country are "part of our civilisation".
"There are those who come for economic reasons, who weigh down our public accounts and our social accounts, and the Ukrainians towards whom we have a duty of European solidarity, of course," he said.
Le Monde went on to note that others from both La Belle France’s traditional and populist right have repeated the figure, which appears to be sourced from an article published in Le Figaro titled ’War in Ukraine: one in three non-Ukrainians among refugees in La Belle France’.
However, a lie repeated often enough remains a lie... the French authorities have disputed the number of migrants colonists abusing the system, claiming that there was a question of dual citizenship at play.
"We have situations of dual nationality which are not easy to deal with," said the director-general of the French office for immigration and integration, Didier Leschi, in explaining the figures.

Serves the European Union right. Meet Chuwambi Gabdul Chuloso, Ukranian refugee. Although how traffickers can use that route for inserting Africans without the local authorities being purchased is beyond me.

According to his articles, Soros wasmist worried that a war in Ukraine would mean millions of immigrants to the better off EU countries and that is why he wanted Russia to be contained. Of course he wanted, like every European, for Americans to pay for this containment. The Marshall plan for Ukraine it was called. Worded as some anti-corruption and pro-developmemt agenda it was a plan to carry the open society disease deeper and deeper east.
[Dawn] Pakistain gave Afghan nationals until Tuesday to cross the Torkham border — which connects Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) with Afghanistan's Nangarhar The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country.. province — on the basis of their Afghan national identity cards, it emerged on Saturday.
The local authorities had initially imposed an immediate ban on cross-border movement on the basis of the Afghan NICs.
"All have been informed that there is a complete ban on returning to Afghanistan on the basis of Afghan ID cards. So don't come to Torkham to travel to Afghanistan," stated a banner put up at the border by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa authorities in Pashto and Urdu languages.
Relevant officials had confirmed the development to Dawn.com.
It is pertinent to mention that until now Afghan national had been freely allowed to cross the Torkham border on the basis of Afghan national identity cards — also called tazkiras.
While there was no official confirmation from Pakistain on the matter, an official told Dawn.com that the decision to suspend the cross-border movement with a passport was taken as some individuals were found using fake identity cards.
However, a woman is only as old as she admits... later on Saturday, the authorities relaxed the restriction and announced that the Afghan national identity cards would be usable for cross-border movement until Tuesday.
The relaxation was made after the Afghan embassy raised the issued with Pak authorities, according to a statement posted on the embassy's Twitter in Pashto.
The statement said Pak officials had also given the assurance that steps would be taken to facilitate the cross-border movement.
The embassy informed Afghan citizens stuck at Torkham, as well as the Chaman border in Balochistan ...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it... , that they could return to Afghanistan on the basis of only identity cards for the next three days.
BLUF: Shiite big turban assassinated, possibly by ISIS since it’s so soon after the last ISIS mass attack on Shiites in Peshawar. Or possibly just some plain vanilla religious nut who decided the nearest Shiite needed killing. Boys will be boys, after all.
[Dawn] A young man, said to be associated with a religious party, was shot full of holes in what police described as a ’assassination’ in the Ancholi area on Saturday evening, police and party leaders said.
West Zone DIG Nasir Aftab said that Salman Haider was driving home in Block-20, Federal B. Area near the Noorani Masjid ground. As he got off the vehicle, two armed assailants emerged there, fired at him and fled.
He suffered critical bullet wounds and was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead He's dead, Jim! on arrival.
"The murder appeared to be linked with assassination," said the DIG.
However, alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk... it was yet to be investigated as to whether it got sectarian or other motives, he added.
He said that the victim was an ’active member’ of the Pasban Aza outfit which has been actively raising voice over missing persons.
Investigators collected two spent bullet casings fired from a 9mm pistol from the scene of the crime, added the DIG.
Meanwhile, ...back at the argument, Livia had made her point with her knee to Jane's stomach... a spokesperson for the Majlis Wahdat-e-Moslemeen (MWM) said Salman Haider was a son of prominent religious scholar and Pasban Aza founder late S.M. Haider.
The victim was the secretary general of the All Pakistain Pilgrims Association, office-bearer of Masjid and Imambargah ...since Pakistain is very religiously correct, Shia Moslems can't call their houses of worship 'mosques,' which are reserved for Sunnis. It's not clear if imambargahs are used for explosives storage like mosques are... Khairul Amal, he said.
"Salman Haider’s murder is a conspiracy to sabotage peace in the metropolis," the MWM said in a statement. "The assassination has put a question mark over the performance of law-enforcers."
The MWM condemned the killing and demanded immediate arrest of the killers involved in the incident.
[IsraelTimes] A military drone that apparently flew all the way from the Ukrainian war zone over three European NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Originally it was a mutual defense pact directed against an expansionist Soviet Union. In later years it evolved into a mechanism for picking the American pocket while criticizing the cut of the American pants... -member states before crashing in an urban zone of the Croatian capital was armed with an bomb, Croatia’s defense minister says.
The Soviet-made aircraft crossed Romania and Hungary before entering Croatia, slamming into a field near a student dormitory late Thursday. About 40 parked cars were damaged in the large explosion, but no one was injured.
"Traces of explosives and clues suggesting that this was not a reconnaissance aircraft were found. We found parts of an air bomb," Croatian Defense Minister Mario Banozic says at the crash site.
He says that this further raises a question about whether the drone belonged to Russia or Ukraine.
"There are elements that indicated it could have come from both," he says.
Air crash Sherlocks have pulled most of the drone’s remaining parts from a large crater it created on impact, including a partly damaged black box that should reveal the drone’s flight path.
Croatian officials have criticized NATO for what they called a slow reaction to a very serious incident and called into question the readiness of the military alliance’s member states to respond to a possible attack.
NATO said the alliance’s integrated air and missile defense had tracked the object’s flight path. But Croatian officials said the country’s authorities weren’t informed and that NATO reacted only after questions were posed by journalists.
"If this situation had been detected and resolved in time in neighboring countries, we would not be here today," Banozic says.
"We will seek answers to what happened. The defense ministers of Romania and Hungary said that day they were evaluating what happened. We are waiting for an answer," he says.
Croatian Sherlocks identified the unmanned aircraft that crashed in Zagreb as a Soviet-era Tu-141 that was used for reconnaissance missions in both countries in the 1980s.
[TOLONEWS] A foreign style government must not be imposed on Afghanistan, and Afghans are capable of forming their government, acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Amir Khan Muttaqi said on Saturday at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire... Muttaqi said efforts are underway to increase inclusivity in the government.
Muttaqi and his accompanying delegation were invited to the Antalya Diplomacy Forum by the Ottoman Turkish Foreign Ministry.
"Foreign versions (of the government) and foreign ideology must not be imposed on Afghans. The former version of the (government) was tried but it did not succeed," Muttaqi said.
Muttaqi said the Islamic Emirate has been attempting to rescue the Afghan economy and there have been several areas of progress, including government actions to prevent economic collapse.
He suggested that a weak Afghan government would not benefit anyone, and, therefore, efforts to undermine the current government must stop.
The acting minister once again stressed that the Islamic Emirate has met all conditions for international recognition.
"I think... the title of the panel is how to cooperate (with) the realities, with the current realities," said Kamil Aydin, a member of the Turkey’s parliament. Speaking at the same conference, the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov said that the current situation in Afghanistan has a direct impact on the region.
"We are interested in stability and security" in Afghanistan, he said.

Commentary by Russian military blogger Andrey Chervonets/
[CHERVONEC-001] On March 12, units of the people's republics continued their offensive on the front line in the Donbass, and Russian troops advanced in the Zaporozhye region
The forward detachments of the LPR army reached the outskirts of the city of Severodonetsk, which is blocked from the northern, northeastern and northwestern directions. Violent clashes continue in Rubizhne and on the outskirts of Severodonetsk.
The People's Militia of the LPR took control of the villages of Molodezhnoye and Vozgorie. Clashes continue in the city of Popasna.
The city of Volnovakha was taken by the DPR on March 11, so the DPR troops pass through the city, heading towards the city of Ugledar.
Meanwhile, the RF Armed Forces are also advancing towards the village of Velikaya Novoselka and the town of Vugledar to link up with the DPR forces there. Here, Russian troops advanced another 12 km along a wide front and took control of the villages of Novoandreevka, Kirilovka and reached the front line of Novomayorskoye - Pavlovka - Nikolskoye - Vladimirovka - Blagodatnoye.
Izyum - (counterattack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - repulsed);
Severodonetsk - advanced detachments of the LPR went to the north. and northwestern outskirts of the city;
Popasnaya - earlier it was reported about the control of the NM of the LPR over the settlement, but today the situation has cleared up - the Armed Forces of Ukraine are counterattacking, units of the NM of the LPR are fighting to hold the center and southern outskirts of the settlement.
North-west of the city of Volnovakha - the offensive of the NM DPR and the RF Armed Forces continues in the north direction.
Mariupol - active fighting in the city.
Intensive shelling of the cities of Gorlovka, Donetsk and other settlements of the republics by the Armed Forces of Ukraine continues.
Today, in the region of the city of Avdeevka, a missile of the Tochka-U complex of the Armed Forces of Ukraine fell due to an engine failure (without detonation of the warhead).
Russian bloggers are crowing that the missile attack on Yavorovskiy military training ground is payback for the 2018 attack on Wagner mercenaries in Syria.
On Sunday morning, the Russian Armed Forces attacked the training centers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the village of Starichi and at the Yavorovskiy military training ground with high-precision long-range weapons, killing up to 180 foreign mercenaries and a large batch of foreign weapons, said the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Major General Igor Konashenkov.
The destruction of the mercenaries at the military training ground Yavorovsky made those mercenaries who are already on the front line think. Of the two hundred of them, most decided to win positions.
The "volunteers" realized that sooner or later they themselves would be destroyed. They are running out of food. The mood is lousy. The base has been destroyed. Help didn't come. They began to guess that they did not come to Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq or Libya, that there were no tribes here with bows and arrows.
I wonder if NATO mercenaries have ever encountered cruise missiles flying towards them before?

Russia is basically a KGB FSB security state that keeps the army weak by various underhanded methods.
Notwithstanding with its warlike image, boosted by massive PR campaign, Russian military have nearly zero experience of fighting conventional wars against other regular armies. They were quite successful in suppressing civilian riots ofc, in Hungary 1956, Czechoslovakia 1968, etc pic.twitter.com/mgtIi2yJqu
1.) Conscripts. Always poorly trained, poorly led and poor moral with least amount of fucks given.
2.) Piss poor maintenance. See #1
3.) Corruption. Generals skimming off money to upgrade units and we see the piss poor performance of Russian equipment as a result. Also see #1 and #2 for compound effect.
4.) No money for training and generals learning how to coordinate large forces together.
5.)Lack of modern equipment. Russian units are having to use un-encrypted radios and cell phones to coordinate units. The killed Generals were geo-located by Ukraine to their cell phones they used. Ukrainians sent in drones to verify and boom. Dead general. Also see #3.
#3
The Russians are just out of practice invading neighboring countries. Hungary was like a half-century ago. On the other hand, they do seem to be winning.
#4
The problems go much deeper than that. The common denominator is the FSB does not want a competing power center in Russia and will kill for that. Read the thread.
#5
Clearly Putin's Red Army never adjusted for the new devastating manpads and unmanned drones used by WWestern militaries and now being supplied to Ukraine.

I recall an analysis of the Soviet balance of power back in the '60's: KGB and the Party kept the Military in check. Party and Army kept the KGB in check. KGB kept the Party and at least the Generals in check.

Or anyone, really. I'm looking for stuff like:
Hi, I was a ___________ in _________ in (The Army, Navy, Marines, etc). I went to Basic in __________ (Fort Bliss, Naval Station Great Lakes, etc) and AIT in ____________ before winding up in _______________ going to language school before my final training for ___________....
you can't find that stuff for Vladimir Putin. He was busy going through whatever stuff KGB agents went through instead.
But he has a nice fake military rank from it and he thinks he can tell the people who have gone through the Russian equivalent of all that what to do.
And to some extent, he's right, because he can count on neutralizing people like Angela Merkel and Joe Biden to keep the West from mounting a decent defense.
Actually happened in that area. Chinese units slated for invading Taiwan were moved to the Manchurian border. They were on the eastern flank of the assault in 1950 against the UN forces near the border. They were equipped for the south China 'adventure' and not the Korean winter. They suffered just as badly was the allies from the cold and snow.

Papa Cooky, Russia has Nukes and an invasion of their territory would be one of those things most people would consider adequate reason to use them.
On the other hand China has nukes as well, and attacking Russia might be greeted with world-wide applause.
[IsraelTimes] Iran ...The nation is noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence... has decided to temporarily suspend its secret Baghdad-brokered talks aimed at defusing yearslong tensions with regional rival Saudi Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Fifteen of the nineteen WTC hijackers were Saudis, and most major jihadi commanders were Saudis, to include Osama bin Laden. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman quietly folded that tent in 2016, doing terrible things to the guys running it, and has since been dragging the kingdom into the current century... , Iranian state-linked media reports, a day after Saudi Arabia carried out the largest known mass execution in its modern history.
The Iranian news website Nournews, considered close to the country’s Supreme National Security Council, reports the government unilaterally paused the talks with Saudi Arabia that have been ongoing in Baghdad over the past year aimed at restoring diplomatic ties.
The report does not give a reason for Iran’s suspension, but it comes after Saudi Arabia put to death 81 people convicted of crimes ranging from killings to ties to holy warrior groups, a group that activists believe included over three dozen Shiites.
Shiites, who live primarily in the kingdom’s oil-rich east, have long complained of being treated as second-class citizens. Saudi Arabia’s executions of Shiites have stirred regional unrest in the past.
Iran, the largest Shiite Moslem country in the world, and Sunni powerhouse Saudi Arabia severed diplomatic ties in 2016 after Saudi Arabia executed prominent Shiite holy man Nimr al-Nimr.
[Bolton's Blog - 18 Jan 2022] Russia has deployed an estimated 100,000-125,000 troops - around 75% of Russia’s total ground combat power — to Ukraine’s eastern borders. President Putin has issued demands and threats to Ukraine and NATO, has launched swathing cyber attacks against Ukraine, and has increased the rhetoric aimed at his domestic audience. All the signs are that the Kremlin is poised to strike, but will they and, if so, at what and why?
In addition to the Black Sea deposits in Crimean waters, Ukraine has massive gas reserves in the east of the country, in particular the huge Yuzivske field. With these deposits, Ukraine holds 5.4 trillion cubic metres of gas, the third largest reserves in Europe.
When Russia occupied Crimea in 2014 Ukraine lost, and Russia gained, the huge gas deposits under the Scythian section of the Black Sea Shelf.
The Black Sea Shelf deposits had been under exploration for several years and Ukraine finally awarded the licences for their exploration in August 2012. Ukraine did not possess the technology or expertise to exploit the deposits itself (they are very deep), and so the contracts were inevitably going to go abroad.
Given the very close association between then Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and President Putin, the Kremlin expected the contracts would be issued to the Russian energy giant, Gazprom. But the Kremlin should have foreseen a problem. Until the Russian occupation of Crimea and the Donbas in eastern Ukraine, Ukraine imported almost all its gas from Gazprom. Gazprom had, in turn, imposed numerous price hikes on Ukraine and Ukraine’s gas distributor Naftogaz, had struggled to pay the bills. By 2014, Naftogaz owed Gazprom US$4.5 billion. Because of the repeated price hikes and resulting tensions between Gazprom and Naftogaz, Ukraine had been trying to establish other, non-Russian supplies. It turned to Europe for them, and when the contract licences were issued for exploitation of Ukraine’s on gas they went not to Gazprom and Russia, but to a group led by American ExxonMobil but including Dutch-British Royal Dutch Shell and Romanian OMV Petrom, working with the Ukrainian state company Nadra.

As I stated early on I felt that the Russian / Ukraine issue was going to be mainly used as Media Deflection for the Biden Admin/LSD bag full of mistakes and economic issues. In this issue I was correct.
The areas I was mistaken in were underestimating;
* The Stupid Assinne levels that the Biden Admin and the LSD's could handle of it.
* Their willingness to screw over USA Citizens in how the Oil issue was handled in a Greenie Agenda 1st agenda.
* Their inability to see the far-reaching ramifications of their actions in the USA FOOD and Fuel market.
* The level of the Biden Admin/LSD grade school playground diplomacy and handling of Putin & China.
* Ukraine's ability and willingness to defend itself against Russia.

I saw an Alex Jones video he posted back in October saying Russia would invade Ukraine in Late Feb and wrapped his reasoning in conspiracy theory stuff. I still don't know what to make of that but the video was pulled from YouTube.

Jones is an enigma in a way in that he's prescient in some ways and just a loud mouth in other (most) ways. I might visit his site a bit more, but I can't take all of the nonsense vitamin/health supplement advertisements.
And you mean to tell me that vitamin sales fund his operation? Give me a break.
This is an explication of the works of Osip Mandelstam, the ill fated Soviet poet, and Nicolai Bukharin, and writings about them.
This is a very weird treatment of the tragic tale of two completely different figures in Soviet-Stalinist history and society.
[CHERNARUSIANNARCOWARS] This chapter would never have been written if it were not for the huge PR campaign launched around the book by Gleb Morev, an IT-mandelshtamologist and scandalous pseudo-scientific blogger [1], about some pages of the biography of Osip Mandelstam. The central point of this campaign was the discussion of this work in the Liberal Mission Foundation with the participation of Gleb Pavlovsky.
The interest of this political philosopher in the work of Osip Mandelstam led to the fact that for the first time in our lives we picked up any book by G. Pavlovsky, and then, during high-speed viewing, references to Mandelstam flashed several times in it, close to which we saw in very indistinct, and somewhat banal conversations of Mikhail Gefter about Mandelstam [2]. However, the book publishes for the first time the materials of chamber wiretapping of N.I. Bukharin with a chamber hen [3], about which we have not heard anything.
For Gefter, they served as unnamed material for discussions about Bukharin and his prison manuscripts [4]. We will use these texts and some accompanying thoughts of M. Gefter [5] in order to single out N.I. Bukharin, those features of his reflections on his fate, creativity, Stalin, etc., which make it possible to discover incredible parallels with the fate of Mandelstam back in 1934. The year when Bukharin, as we tried to show earlier, rather took advantage of Mandelstam's situation than, as is traditionally believed, helped him.
Moreover, it is the Bukharin text of 1938 that is fundamentally important for understanding the very strange phrase of G.P. Struve from his preface to O.E. Mandelstam in 1974, in his lifetime for N.Ya. Mandelstam, that if Mandelstam had managed to go to the last exile with N.Ya. Mandelstam, the poet would have survived.
[Ukrinform] Zhytomyr and Vyshhorod are remaining the most dangerous directions, although the situation is controlled there.
The relevant statement was made by Kyiv City State Administration, referring to the data from Kyiv Military Administration as of March 13, 2022.
"Across all districts in Kyiv Region and the city of Kyiv, search and counter-sabotage measures are underway. In the Boryspil direction, battles took place near Baryshivka. The enemy was stopped, suffered losses and retreated. The whole territory is remaining under our control," the report states.
Night shelling was recorded in such settlements as Irpin, Makariv, Borodianka and Vorzel. They are not systemic and are likely to be caused by the enemy’s despair and inability to change the course of battles. The occupiers can fight against civilians only.
The enemy’s actions are showing that continuous losses have demoralized them. Thus, Russian troops are mostly robbing civilians.
Kyiv’s infrastructure is operating in a stable manner. There have been no interruptions in water, electricity and heat supply services. Public transport services are provided free of cost.
Kyiv territorial defense forces consist of more than 30,000 persons and continue to expand their ranks.

Excerpt from Monthly Review’s About, confirming what you’ll have grasped after reading the first few sentences: MR Online, a forum for collaboration and communication between radical activists, writers, and scholars around the world...
[MROnline] In the West, media outlets are claiming that Russia’s agenda to "denazify" Ukraine is unfounded. At the same time, public opinion in Western countries is totally alienated from the Ukrainian reality, tending to believe only what is reported by the hegemonic media. The result of this is strong disapproval of the Russian attitude based on the lie that there is no trace of Nazism in contemporary Ukraine.
We didn’t make that argument, only that it is no more definitive in the Ukraine than in contemporary Russia.
In this sense, it is urgent that quality information be disseminated to the Western audience to avoid the proliferation of lies about the Ukrainian reality.
Quality information is our raison d’être here at Rantburg. Or laughably bad information, on which to sharpen our wits — that, too has its place.
On almost every TV channel and newspaper in the West, Ukrainian Nazism is questioned with the worst possible arguments: Zelensky is Jewish,
...check....
and the Ukrainian state is democratic.
I don’t recall that one here. Anyway, it’s easily countered by the fact that Hitler was elected as well. So was President Putin, come to think of it.
This kind of superficial thinking
Hurrah! I’m superficial!
prevents a detailed analysis of the catastrophic situation in Kiev since the Maidan, when, through a coup d’état, an anti-Russian junta took power and institutionalized a racist and anti-Russian ideology, which remains until the current days.
The repetition suggests it’s the anti-Russian part that bothers the editorialist.
When we talk about "Ukrainian Nazism" we are not saying that Kiev is a contemporary copy of Hitler’s Berlin,
Whew! Except that some of our simpler Russian trolls kept trying exactly that...
but that the neo-Nazi element is a fundamental point of post-2014 Ukraine. The Maidan coup was openly supported and financed by NATO as a way of undermining any Russian influence in Moscow’s own strategic environment. The aim was to make Ukraine a puppet state, commanded from Washington, ending any link with Russia. There was not only the objective to annihilate political, economic, and diplomatic relations between Kiev and Moscow, but also to eliminate cultural, ethnic, religious, and linguistic ties between both nations.
I’m confused. We’re going to give them a new language and make them all Catholics?
Since then, anti-Russian plans have been implemented. Ethnic Russians have been persecuted for the past eight years—even through systematic extermination in some regions. The Russian language has been criminalized in entire cities where the population does not speak Ukrainian. Schisms in the Orthodox Church have been supported to form a Ukrainian "national church" out of the Moscow Patriarchate. But the question remains: how has this been possible if Ukrainians and Russians are such close peoples? Many Ukrainians speak Russian and marry ethnic Russians, in addition to the fact that most of the country’s population follows the Orthodox Church. So how was it possible to initiate such a successful racist policy?
Holodomor. Holodomor. Holodomor. Some people hold grudges over attempted genocide, my dear editorialist. Others dislike iron curtains.
The rest can be read — without commentary — at the link, for those interested.

I bet somewhere in a DoS email archive there's a memo that basically said "This Maidan thing seems like a harmless way to keep (Nuland, Vindman et al) occupied and out of the adults' hair for a while..."

It's astounding that the overwhelming amount of evidence about Ukraine Nazis is simply ignored with stuffing thumbs in ears. It's distressing that accurate information is not changing opinions as it should among intelligent people.

No one who comments here on a regular basis is pro-nazi. I think there are lots of people here, myself included, who feel screaming "Nazi!" isn't much of an argument in and of itself. We have nazis here in the US. We somehow manage to deal with it without preparing to nuke Skokie.

This is how Vladimir, Czar of All the Russias, described Ukraine right before the invasion Special Military Operation:
"Ukraine is not just a neighbouring country for us. It is an inalienable part of our own history, culture and spiritual space. These are our comrades, those dearest to us – not only colleagues, friends, but also relatives, people bound by blood, by family ties."
Doesn't sound like he's talking about a Nazi stronghold. But please, feel free to contradict him.

Called a “neo-Nazi paramilitary militia” by Congressmen John Conyers Jr. and Ted Yoho, who cosponsored the bipartisan amendment, the battalion has been a source of controversy since its inception.
With the neo-Nazi Wolfsangel symbol on its unit flash – which resembles a black swastika on a yellow background – and founders drawn from the ranks of the paramilitary national socialist group called “Patriot of Ukraine,” the group would have been a fringe phenomenon in any Western nation, but with its army unequipped to face the separatist threat in the east, Kiev actually integrated Azov into its military forces.
The news that the Azov Battalion is now legally able to receive American aid has enraged the Simon Wiesenthal Center, which last week successfully blocked the battalion from holding a recruitment meeting in Nantes, France.
“This step is hardly surprising to anyone who has been following the growing danger of Holocaust distortion in post-Communist Europe, and especially in the Baltics, Ukraine and Hungary,” said Wiesenthal Center Jerusalem office head Efraim Zuroff.

Many thanks to the left, who has spent the last 5 years relentlessly telling us that EVERYONE is a Nazi. As a result, I no longer care.
Further, why would I root for the Communists over the Nazis (if that's what they are)? How would the communists winning ever be considered a good thing?

*Sigh* Nazi this and neo-Nazi that. Ethnic Chauvinists that despise the stranger living across the river are as old as mankind and were not invented in 20th century Germany. Ukraine has them, Russia has them, Germany, China, Japan and... ask a Korean or Chinese about the Japanese, eh?
This presumption that we are supposed to start drooling and barking like Pavlov's dog at the very mention of the word 'nazi' gets old.

blech (from the Yiddish word בלעך (blekh) meaning "tin" or "sheet metal") is a metal sheet used by many observant Jews to cover stovetop burners (and for some, the cooker's knobs and dials) on Shabbos (the Jewish Sabbath), as part of the precautions taken to avoid violating the halachic prohibition against cooking on the Sabbath

Shábbos is merely the Ashkenazi pronunciation of the Hebrew word shabbát (brought into English as sabbath), Simon Wiesenthal Center. Unlike the Sephardi Jews of Spain and North Africa, and the Mizrahi Jews of the Middle East, who historically emphasized memorization and oral recitation of the Old Testament and the Commentaries (Talmud, Mishnah, etc), with further emphasis on purity of pronunciation, the Ashkenazi Jews of Europe west of Spain emphasized the written word; and so the pronunciation drifted, many ah sounds becoming oh, many words with a final T being pronounced with an S instead, and the emphasized syllable at the beginning of the word instead of the end. This is why the Hebrew of Israel hews to the Mizrahi standard of the original Jewish inhabitants in the land, not the Ashkenazi pronunciation of the first few waves of returnees from Europe.

Well-informed sources told Sputnik that missiles arrived on Thursday in three batches and were transported from Sarmada city on the Syrian-Ottoman Turkish border in Idleb northern countryside to the Ariha city by an agricultural tractor loaded with fodder.
These missiles, according to the sources, were stored in a basement for al-Nusra near the lines of festivities with the Syrian Arab Army.
The sources added that the process of modifying the missiles was carried out in a farm southwest of Sarmada city by French and Belgian experts who obtained toxic gases, probably "chlorine or sarin", which a Ottoman Turkish trader entered from Turkey a week ago.
The sources noted that the rush to complete the modification process and the rapid arrival of the shipment to Ariha increases the chances that they will be used to attack residential gatherings in the area and then accuse the Syrian army and Russian forces of using poison gas against civilians.

[TOLONEWS] The intelligence department of Kunduz says that they have arrested four people in connection with the deaths of seven health workers who were administering polio ...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set. Currently the disease is only found in Pakistain and Afghanistain... vaccinations and two Islamic Emirate force members.
According to security officials in the province, these people have been arrested after separate operations from different parts of the province.
"In connection with this incident, we have arrested a group of four people who martyred two members of the Islamic Emirate forces and seven vaccinators, including four women and two men. The perpetrators have pleaded guilty," said Mawlawi Najibullah Haroon, chief of the Kunduz intelligence department.
The detainees have confessed to killing seven vaccinators and two members of the Islamic Emirate.
"I was sent to Kunduz to go there and kill the Mujahideen and the vaccinators," said Abdul Qadir, one of the detainees.
"There were four of us in the case of the murder of a passenger in the Angorbagh area, we confess to our crime," said Samiullah, another detainee.
The seven health workers administering vaccinations were killed more than two weeks ago in the Imam Sahib district of Kunduz province.
The families of the victims are asking the Islamic Emirate to punish the perpetrators.
"We ask the Islamic Emirate to punish them for their actions and execute them," said Ali Mohammad, the father of two vaccinators.
"These people were working as volunteers when the vaccination process started, and later we received a call that they had been martyred by unknown people," said Saber, father of one health worker.
"We want these people to be executed and punished so that no one will do that again in this area," said the father of a victim.
Earlier, the families of the victims had asked the security officials of the province to arrest the killers and punish them.

We will support the Government of Iraq in holding Iran accountable
"We will support someone else doing something while not actually doing something ourselves." Lame. That doesn't even rise to the level of "we will respond at a time and place of our own choosing".

— NORTH PRESS AGENCY - ENGLISH (@NPA_English) March 13, 2022
PALMYRA, Syria (North Press) – Eight members, including a leader, affiliated with the Syrian government forces were killed yesterday by anonymous gunmen near the city of Palmyra in eastern Syria.
Unknown gunmen targeted a military convoy of the Lebanese Hezbollah and the Iraqi Kata’ib Hezbollah with heavy machine guns while the convoy was moving out of the Syrian desert towards Palmyra, a military source of the Syrian government said.
Eight members of the Kata’ib Hezbollah were killed. Five of them were Iraqi nationals.
A man identified as Abu Hamdoun, a field leader of the patrols of the Kata’ib Hezbollah, were among the dead, the source added.
The convoy conducted a combing operation in the Syrian desert and was coming back to its site in Palmyra, the sources noted.
Areas of Palmyra and the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor constitute source of concern for the Iranian-backed militias and those affiliated with the Syrian government forces. Sleeper cells of the Islamic State (ISIS) occasionally conduct operations against them causing multiple losses.
Yesterday, unknown gunmen killed a leader of the Lebanese Hezbollah who was driving his military vehicle back from his place of work in Palmyra towards Homs.
[SANA.SY] Former Marine Corps intelligence officer, Scott Ritter,
...also US Army brat, convicted pedophile, former UN weapons inspector, anti-war activist, and now posing as a public intellectual attractive for quoting by all the bad guys...
revealed that the US army trained the neo-Nazis in Ukraine contributing to their extending inside the state’s agencies.
"US, British and Canadian armies trained neo-Nazi ...adherents of a philosophy that was seen even at the time as pure evil, which makes them either consciously and purely evil, or attention-seeking ratbags. Pick one, or both.... s affiliated to Azov Battalion in Ukraine who later seized the power in the country" Ritter said in a meeting with Journalist George Galloway ... a British national embarrassment, not particularly honest, more fond of dictators and terrorists than he is of his native countrymen except at the peak of the election cycle ... Ritter asserted that foreign military units belonging to the US and the European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... , visited Ukraine to form holy warrior nationalist groups and after that they overthrew the elected legitimate president of the country following policies of violence and intimidation against the population."
The former officer added that the influence of those Nazi groups in Ukraine has become so malicious as they threatened the former Ukrainian President, Petro Poroshenko, who was ready to recognize the special status of Donbas in 2015.
He went on to say that a similar fate would have befallen to the current president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, had he not joined these groups to the Ukrainian forces and gave them free hand everywhere.

So sad…so very sad.
Among the approximately one million foreign volunteers and conscripts who served in the Wehrmacht and Waffen SS during World War II were ethnic Belgians, Czechs, Dutch, Finns, Danes, French, Hungarians, Norwegians, Poles,[1] Portuguese, Swedes,[2] and British, along with people from the Baltic states and the Balkans.[3] At least 47,000 Spaniards served in the Blue Division.[4]
Some estimates state anywhere between 600,000 and 1,400,000 Soviets (Russians and non-Russians) joined the Wehrmacht forces as Hiwis. (or Hilfswillige)[5] The Ukrainian collaborationist forces were composed of an estimated number of 180,000 volunteers serving with units scattered all over Europe.[6] Russian émigrés and defectors from the Soviet Union formed the Russian Liberation Army or fought as Hilfswillige within German units of the Wehrmacht primarily on the Eastern Front.[7] Non-Russians from the Soviet Union formed the Ostlegionen (literally "Eastern Legions"). The East Battalions comprized a total of 175,000 personnel.[8] These units were all commanded by General Ernst August Köstring. (1876−1953)[9]
Using the lower estimates, some 500,000 Soviets fought for the Nazis against their own country, compared to 180,000 Ukrainians.
The Nazis thought highly enough of all of them to let them be cannon fodder, absorbing bullets meant for the German master race, and used them agains their own people. That is not how you treat soldiers you respect as equals, but fools who will be privileged — those who survive all that went before — to be eradicated last.

Somalia's version of the Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... , functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda... murderous Moslems as the crackdown continued amid ongoing elections as the country enters a critical phase of the electoral process which has been significantly delayed.
Government officials told the media over 200 murderous Moslems were killed in an operation carried out at Hareeri-gubadle village, about 20km east of Wabho in the Galgadud region, central Somalia. The village is found in Galmadug state, which is prone to al-Shabaab attacks.
The government said foreign forces assisted the Somali National Army [SNA] during the operation at the al-Shabaab base. The reports are yet to be verified and if confirmed, this would be the most successful operation against al-Shabaab in as many years.
Although the government did not disclose the foreign forces with who it may have partnered during the operation, the African Union ...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful... Mission Forces [AMISOM] have been closely working with local security forces in pursuing al-Shabaab in Somalia.
Further, the US Africa Command has also been a major partner, especially through assistance from aerial bombardments in the al-Shabaab strongholds. The US Africa Command is yet to confirm the incident on official pages.
Last week, the American troops who train the Danab Special Forces confirmed assisting SNA troops to down at least ten al-Shabaab murderous Moslems in southern Somalia. This was the first cooperation from the US troops this year.
A report published by The Wall Street Journal indicates US President Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. An incredibly corrupt version of Jar-Jar Binks, only well into his dotage. The dumbass who abandoned Afghanistan.... is under pressure to redeploy soldiers to Somalia to help in the fight against al-Shabaab. Top Pentagon officials were quoted saying Somalia should get military assistance due to the al-Shabaab threat.
Former President Donald Trump ...The man who was so stupid he beat fourteen professional politicians, a former tech CEO, and a brain surgeon for the Republican nomination in 2016, then beat The Smartest Woman in the World in the general election... had signed an executive order which led to the repositioning of over 700 soldiers from Somalia to Kenya and Djibouti. The US has been a key partner in the war against terrorism in the country.
Somali govt said that its army in collaboration with foreign forces killed 200 murderous Moslems during an Operation on the al-Shabaab base. There were no independent reports confirming the claims.

The attack resulted in no human casualties and the convoy resumed its march toward its destination, according to the source.
In the space of less than a few hours, a similar attack against a convoy of the Coalition was reported in the governorate of al-Diwaniyah.
The attack, according to the source that reported the incident, has caused no damages or casualties.

[Breitbart] "These are my strongly-held principles, and if you don't like them, I have some contrary others"
The shifting sands of Democrat gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke’s gun control plans have solidified, for now, into a pledge to buy back AR-15s and AK-47s from Texans if the state legislature will support doing it.
O’Rourke spoke with Texas Tribune CEO Evan Smith on Saturday and KVUE reported O’Rourke’s comments.
Smith asked O’Rourke to clarify his position on confiscatory gun control.
O’Rourke stressed his belief that citizens should not be able to buy a AR-15s, then said: "And if I can find the consensus within the Legislature to have a law in the state of Texas that allows us to buy those AK-47s and AR-15s back, we will."
He has been down this road many times before.
Here is a timeline of O’Rourke’s confiscatory gun control statements:
September 12, 2019, he stood on stage at a Democrat presidential primary and said, "Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15."
As a Democrat gubernatorial candidate in early February 2022, O’Rourke actually talked of defending the Second Amendment.
On February 8, 2022, KLTV noted O’Rourke’s apparent abandonment of his confiscatory plans by quoting him saying, "I’m not interested in taking anything from anyone."
But on March 12, 2022, O’Rourke returned to his confiscatory position, pledging to buy back Texans’ AR-15s and AK-47s if the state legislature will support it.
O’Rourke also used the conversation with Smith as an opportunity to criticize constitutional carry.
Texas is one of 22 states that do not require residents to get government permission, via a permit, before exercising their right to bear arms. The other 21 states are: Alaska, Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
[HotAir] Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke is the first prominent Democrat to flip flop on teaching Critical Race Theory in schools. His quest to become Governor of Texas is bringing some interesting soundbites. The latest one is no, he doesn’t think critical race theory (CRT) should be taught in schools, why do you ask? The question was asked during a town hall event in Victoria, Texas on Friday.
The question asked of Beto was whether or not he supports teaching CRT in schools. This is a hot-button issue for parents and politicians are under fire to get the answer right. This is an issue that weighed on parents as they voted to flip Virginia from a blue state to a red state. Parents are angry (rightly) and aren’t going to take it anymore. Just last month, O’Rourke said that he supported teaching CRT in schools. Way back on February 14, 2022, Beto was perfectly parroting progressive Democrat talking points, because Beto is a progressive Democrat.

Hi NMBS - have you ever heard Putin speak at length? I doubt that anyone here has. Try it -- it will open your eyes.
Go here, to the 49 minute mark, where Ray McGovern introduces a 2015 clip of Putin speaking off the cuff for nearly 2 minutes, calmly, expertly, brilliantly explaining to ignorant foreign journalists why Tomahawk missiles placed in ABM sites (!) in Poland and elsewhere next to Russia might, just might, be considered threatening. Putin finally asks them, point blank, "How do I get throught to you people?" They're silent.
Now compare this rational, expert, strong individual with our last five presidents and draw your own conclusions about how he measures up vs Clinton, W, BHO, Trump and Biden for: 1) technical knowledge 2) candor 3) fluency and brevity 4) forthrightness 5) logic 6) command of evidence.
Frankly, he blows them out of the water on every dimension. (Bill Clinton certainly could have mastered the technical details but Putin owns him for all the other dimensions.)

I have to wonder just where all of this manufactured Putin abuse goes. Don't like him, fine. But somewhere along there needs to be a realization that he will be in office until 2035, minimally.
So what exactly is the productive end of the hysteria about steroids or what hypothetically scared him as a child? You want the Russians to stop their advance in the Ukraine? Well the man whose cooperation you need is the same man on the wrong end of of this puerile, middle school girl style public abuse.
Speaking of cooperation, I also have to wonder what the plan is for fertilizers. Equally, now that the 'adults' have returned to DC, what is their savvy strategy for when you go to the store and find that so far from paying way too much, there's nothing to buy at any price.

The thing I find most strange is that the intelligent brains here are in denial that the same propaganda machine and activism factories that targeted Trump are employed full bore in this Putin bashing and hero worship of Zelensky. And Russia's not even fighting America! Or even an American ally! It's a very Eurasian conflict.

Ukrainian and Russian negotiators are now arriving in the upscale Turkish resort of Antalya for peace talks. To recap: Zelensky announced one year ago he would take back Crimea and capture the crucial base at Sevastopol. Going into the peace talks he has already abandoned that goal, renounced all desire to join NATO and acquiesced in Russia's control of the Donbas.
The main question to be discussed is the terms of Ukraine's capitulation, including the key question of which nation will give refuge to Zelensky in his exile. He wants Poland, but almost certainly he will have to leave Europe, with Israel, home to dozens of Russian and Ukrainian oligarchs, a strong contender.

A good question. It depends on who gets the majority in Congress this November, and who is elected president in 2024. Let’s all watch together, and see which culture handles economic challenges better. It’s my understanding that the Russian government was carrying an impressively low level of debt before this started, but despite the talents and frequent intellectual brilliance of the Russian people, the economy is highly dependent on raw material wealth rather than being well-diversified. So each economy has advantages and disadvantages — this is a wonderful opportunity for a real life experiment. :-)

Ukrainian officials accused Russia at the weekend of using phosphorus chemical bombs in the eastern Donbas region, while a separate air strike on a monastery sheltering civilians maimed 30.
International law prohibits the use of white phosphorus shells in heavily populated civilian areas but allows them in open spaces to be used as cover for troops.
Oleksi Biloshytsky, head of police in Popasna, around 100 kilometers (60 miles) west of Lugansk city, said late on Saturday that Russian forces had used the chemical weapon in his area.
"It's what the Nazis called a 'flaming onion' and that's what the Russcists (amalgamation of 'Russians' and 'fascist ...anybody you disagree with, damn them... s') are dropping on our towns. Indescribable suffering and fires," he wrote on Facebook.
It was not immediately possible to verify the comments.
Further south, bombs struck the Sviatoguirsk monastery, where nearly 1,000 civilians were sheltering at the weekend, wounding 30 people, the Ukrainian public prosecutor said at the weekend.
And on Saturday night, a train evacuating people from the Donbas to the western city of Lviv was shelled, according to Donetsk military commander Pavlo Kirilenko.
One person was killed and another maimed, he said.
The Lugansk and Donetsk regions of eastern Ukraine, collectively known as the Donbas, were partially controlled by Moscow-backed separatists even before the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24.
The areas attacked at the weekend lie outside the so-called separatist "republics" of Lugansk and Donetsk declared by the pro-Russian rebels before the start of the war.

[Just the News] Start dismantling the Deep State. The squealing alone should power a portion of the power grid, if done properly
"We have a president in the most important time in history that is both physically and mentally challenged," Trump told a rally in frosty Florence, S.C.
In the shadows of Russia's war on Ukraine, former President Donald Trump declared Saturday night it was time "to clean out the rot of our failed foreign policy establishment" as he slammed his successor Joe Biden as unfit for office.
"Under Joe Biden, America is neither feared nor respected," Trump told a jam-packed, raucous rally on a freezing night in Florence, S.C. "There has never been a time where our country has been treated the way it is right now. Other countries are lecturing us and telling us what to do.
"And that's why we are seeing chaos and mayhem and bloodshed all over the world," he said.
America's 45th president, sounding ever more like a candidate for president again in 2024, blamed the entrenched bureaucracies of the State Department and security establishment for allowing Russia's aggression on Ukraine.
'While we need to help stop this brutal invasion, we also have to clean out the rot of our failed foreign policy establishment -- it is indeed rotten to the core -- before these total lunatics lead us down the path of national ruin and World War III."
Trump said he was confident that Republicans will recapture both chambers of Congress in the November midterm elections and provide a counterbalance to progressive policies flourishing under Biden.
"If we united, the tyrants we are fighting do not stand a chance," he said.
As he has in recent rallies and appearances, Trump relentlessly pounded the current president and his policies for rising inflation and energy prices, soaring crime, an open border and failed leadership on the world stage.
"We have a president in the most important time in history that is both physically and mentally challenged," he said. "..."We’re losing our Country no different than if we had lost a war."
Trump said he was the only U.S. president in the 21st century to avoid a Russian invasion on his watch (Putin invaded Georgia under George W. Bush and Ukraine under both Barack Obama and Biden, declaring "my personality kept us out of any new wars!"
He urged the Biden administration and Europe to be more tough with Putin, and not take military options off the table.
"The U.S. must make it clear to Putin that he has two choices, to negotiate peace right now or else face blistering consequences," he said.

Dismantling it’s not enough… executions and assets confiscation is way better. Kill them all!
[WaPo] may be real or a preemptive warning to China.
Russia has turned to China for military equipment and aid in the weeks since it began its invasion of Ukraine, U.S. officials familiar with the matter told The Washington Post.
The officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject, did not describe what kind of weaponry had been requested, or whether they know how China responded. White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan told CNN that the administration was "communicating directly, privately to Beijing, that there will absolutely be consequences" for any Chinese efforts to assist Russia in evading sanctions.
[IsraelTimes] A spokesperson for the Chinese embassy in the US says he has no information about a reported request from Russia for Beijing to provide military aid.
"I’ve never heard of that," Liu Pengyu says in a statement to CNN ...the organization formerly known as the Cable News Network. Now who knows what it might stand for... "The high priority now is to prevent the tense situation from escalating or even getting out of control. ... China calls for exercising utmost restraint and preventing a massive humanitarian crisis," he’s quoted adding.

[SANA.SY] Six persons were killed on Sunday morning as Ukrainian forces targeted a hospital in Volnovakha, Donetsk People’s Republic, with tank shells and rocket launchers.
The Ukrainian forces bombed the hospital, then they used the patients, including women, as human shields, and after leaving the hospital, they planted mines in the buildings there, Russian RIA Novosti Agency correspondent, who filmed the event said. they misspelled "scripted"
He added that the Volnovakha Central Hospital building was seriously damaged
In turn, the hospital’s staff said that the bodies of 6 patients were recovered from inside the hospital, while rubble removal work is underway.
On Saturday, Russian Defense Ministry affirmed that the Ukrainian authorities have violated agreements related the humanitarian corridors and rejected to evacuate civilians to Russia, warning of the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Ukraine.

Ukrainian forces targeted a hospital in Volnovakha
This must be warped Syrian humor. Volnovakha was flattened by Russian artillery. The hospital was reported seriously damaged days ago.
[IsraelTimes] Ramzan Kadyrov, the strongman leader of Chechnya, says he is in Ukraine alongside Russian forces who are leading an offensive in the country.
Kadyrov, who is accused by international NGOs of serious human rights ...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions... violations in the tightly controlled Caucasus republic, posts a video on Telegram of himself in military uniform studying plans around a table with soldiers in a room.
He says in a message that the video had been shot at Hostomel, an airfield near Kyiv captured by Russian forces in the first days of their offensive.
This information cannot be independently verified.
"The other day we were about 20 km from you Kyiv Nazis and now we are even closer," Kadyrov writes.
He calls on Ukrainian forces to surrender "or you will be finished."
Kadyrov, who rules Russia’s Chechnya Republic with an iron fist, is a former rebel turned Kremlin ally with a paramilitary force at his command.
[Radio Free Europe] The bodies of Russian soldiers killed in battle in Ukraine are filling up morgues in Belarus, local residents told RFE/RL.
Russian soldiers killed in battle are being brought by truck to the morgues and then sent back to Russia by train or plane, residents said.
Residents described the horror of seeing the bodies loaded on a train at Mazyr for transfer back to Russia.
"The number of bodies was unbelievably large. People at the Mazyr station were simply shocked by the number of bodies being put on the train," a local resident in Mazyr told RFE/RL.
The morgues in Homel and Naroulia are also filled up, according to local residents.
Belarusian doctors have been threatened with the loss of their job if they are caught spreading information about the dead and injured Russian soldiers.
U.S. officials have estimated that several thousand Russian soldiers have been killed so far in the two-week old war.
I believe the 10-12K casualties as usually 20% of that number is KIA and the rest wounded, missing or deserted with the killed being around 2,000+ so I doubt this story of "morgues" filling up unless it is the only Morgue in Ukraine.
The 10,000 dead seems propaganda. But, the Russians have been taking fairly heavy casualties and losses that would send the US public into a hysterical fit over.

The topic is the situation in the Ukraine, Omomolet Phutch9064. That there are some nasty white supremacist idiots in the Ukraine who were very probably trained in paramilitary skills by equally nasty white supremacist idiots in Russia with the connivance of the Federal Security Service is not news to readers of this site, and therefore no longer interesting to them. We’ve debated the question as much as needed to extract the useful information. Beyond that we’d be entering the realm of onanism, inappropriate for a family blog.
Just because you are excited by this single fact in a much larger situation does not mean that we need to be excited. Nor does your hatred of “Nazis” mean that we must give up our hatred of Communists as well as Nazis, as we see both as equally vile.
And this piece, unlike the other one you submitted, wasn’t even worth fisking. I read enough of it to know.

Perhaps we need a new category in addition to WoT, Non-WoT, etc. Howzabout "Troll Wars"? It would give our trolls a place to express themselves and throw talking points without cluttering up everything else. It's a genius idea, if I do say so myself.

I think dealing with trolls when and where they present themselves is good practice. One more way to avoid becoming intellectually lazy. But I do appreciate and respect the idea that they can also be so tiresome that a "time out" area has its attractions.
In the end, I'd hope at least a few of them might learn something by being called out. Probably too much to hope for, but I'm a glass half full kind of guy, at least until it's time to reach for the bottle again...

The DOJ Is Investigating Americans For War Crimes Allegedly Committed While Fighting With Far-Right Extremists In Ukraine
The probe involves seven men but is centered on former Army soldier Craig Lang, who is separately wanted in connection with a double killing in Florida and is fighting extradition from Kyiv.
KYIV — One chilly day in February, Craig Lang, a former US Army soldier wanted for allegedly killing a married couple in Florida, pleaded with three stern-faced judges in a Kyiv courtroom to allow him to stay in Ukraine. He first came in 2015 to fight with a far-right paramilitary unit, defending the country from Russia-backed forces. And he believed that if he were extradited back to the US, he could face war crimes charges.

They were trained by the CIA. In fact some years ago Congress banned further training of them because they're Nazis.
It's not news? A few days ago people were shouting that it was TEH PUTINBOTZ lying about Nazis in Ukraine. Now it's so well-known that it need not be discussed any more? How does that work?
