End of Russian oil
[Zeihan] This newsletter is an adapted excerpt from Peter's upcoming book, The End of the World is Just the Beginning.

Think the Europeans will need to get by without Russian crude? You are 100% correct. But you are not thinking anywhere near big enough.

Most of Russia’s oil fields are both old and extraordinarily remote from Russia’s customers. Fields in the North Caucasus are either tapped out or were never refurbished in the aftermath of the Chechen Wars, those of Russia’s Tatarstan and Bashkortostan provinces are well past their peak, and even western Siberian fields have been showing diminishing returns since the 2000s. With few exceptions, Russia’s oil discoveries of the last decade or three are deeper, smaller, more technically challenging, and even farther from population centers than the older fields they would be expected to replace. Russian output isn’t in danger of collapsing, but maintaining output will require more infrastructure, far higher up-front costs, and ongoing technical love and care to prevent steady output declines from becoming something far worse.

While the Russians are no slouches when it comes to oil field knowledge, they were out of circulation from roughly 1940 through 2000. Oil technology came a long way in those sixty years. Foreign firms—most notably supermajors BP and Shell, and services firms Halliburton and Schlumberger—have collectively done work that is probably responsible for half of Russia’s contemporary output.

The Western supermajors have left. All of them. Just as the Ukraine War began, Exxon and BP and Shell have walked away from projects they’ve sunk tens of billions of dollars into, knowing full well they won’t get a cent of compensation. Halliburton and Schlumberger’s operations today are a shadow of what they were before Russia’s previous invasion of Ukraine in 2014. Between future sanctions or the inability of the Russians to pay them with hard currency, those operations now risk winding down to zero. The result is as inevitable as it is damning: at least a 50% reduction in the ability of Russia to produce crude. (No. Chinese oilmen cannot hope to keep things flowing. The Chinese are worse in this space than the Russians.) The outstanding question is how soon?

Sooner than you think. It’s an issue of infrastructure and climate.

First, infrastructure. All of Russia’s oil flows first travel by pipe—in some cases for literally thousands of miles—before they reach either a customer or a discharge port. Pipes can’t . . . dodge. Anything that impedes a single inch of a pipe shuts the whole thing down. In the post-Cold War globalized Order when we all got along, this was something we could sing-song-skip right by. But with the Russians dropping cluster bombs on civilian targets — as they started doing on Feb 28 — not so much. Whether the Russians destroy the pipes with their indiscriminate use of ordinance (like they damaged a radiation containment vessel at Chernobyl!!!) or Ukrainian partisans target anything that brings the Russians income, much of this system is doomed.

Second, climate. Siberia, despite getting cold enough to literally freeze your nose off in October, doesn’t get cold enough. Most Russian oil production is in the permafrost, and for most of the summer the permafrost is inaccessible because its top layer melts into a messy, horizon-spanning swamp. What the Russians do is wait for the land to freeze, and then build dike-roads and drill for crude in the long dark of the Siberian winter. Should something happen to consumption of Russian crude oil or any of the millions of feet of pipe that take that crude from wellhead to port or consumer, flows would back up through the literally thousands of miles of pipes right up to the drill site. There is no place to store the stuff. Russia would just need to shut everything down. Turning it back on would require manually checking everything, all the way from well to border.

The last time this happened was the Soviet collapse in 1989. It took millions of manhours of help from the likes of BP and Halliburton — and thirty-two years — for Russia to get back to its Cold War production levels. And now, with war on in Ukraine, insurance companies are cancelling policies for tankers carrying anything Russian on Seas Black and Baltic while the French seize Russian vessels, and the Russian Central Bank under the strictest financial sanctions ever, it is all falling apart. Again.

Even in the sunshine and unicorn scenario that Putin duct tapes himself to a lawn chair and throws himself into a pool, and a random band of kindly kindergarten teachers take over the Russian government, we should not expect the energy supply situation in Russia to begin to stabilize before 2028, and for us to return to what we think of as the status quo before 2045.

In the meantime, the debate of the moment is expanded energy sanctions. Once everyone concludes that Russian crude is going away regardless, there’s something to be said about pre-emptively sanctioning Russian energy before reality forces the same end result. Moral high road and all that. Bottom line: Uuuuugh! The disappearance of some four to five million Russian barrels of daily crude production will all by itself kick energy prices up to at least $170 a barrel. A global energy-induced depression is in the wind.

But probably not an American one. In the bad ol’ days before World War II there wasn’t a "global" oil price. Each major country or empire controlled its own production and maintained its own — sequestered — market. Courtesy of the American shale revolution and preexisting legislation, the U.S. president has the authority to end American oil exports on a whim and return us to that world. An American export ban would flood U.S. refiners with relatively cheap shale oil. Those refiners will certainly bitch — their facilities have a taste for crude grades different from what comes out of Texas and North Dakota — but having a functional price ceiling within the United States of roughly $70 a barrel will achieve precisely what Joe Biden is after: cheaper gasoline prices.

The rest of the world? They’ll have to grapple with losing Russian and American crude at the same time. If the "global" price stays below $200, I’d be shocked.

The first rule of geopolitics is place matters. To populations. To transport. To finance. To agriculture. To energy. To everything. The second rule is things can always get worse. The world is about to (re)learn both lessons, good and hard.

Ukrainian Jews push back against Putin's ‘neo-Nazi' claim as they gear up for battle
[IsraelTimes/JTA] Konstantyn Batozsky believes he is on a list of so-called "neo-Nazis" to be rounded up "Gestapo-style" and "exterminated" by Russian forces seeking to enter Kyiv.

Batozsky, a Jew from eastern Ukraine, said he was informed about the "bounty on his head" by Ukrainian intelligence sources. But as a longtime and avowed Ukrainian nationalist who has collaborated with a paramilitary group that has a reputation for including extremists, he knows that it’s people like him that Russian President Vladimir Putin was talking about when he cited a need for "denazification" as a pretext for invading his country.

"I have been staying underground away from my apartment where the Russians will try to find me," Batozsky said from a makeshift bunker preparing for what appears to be an imminent invasion as bombs rained down outside the city center.

"I am happy that I’m alive," he reflected, as he coordinated efforts to get much-needed supplies to the Ukrainian army. "It now feels like every day could be the last."

Initially cheerful in the early days of the war as the Ukrainians were surprisingly resilient against the much bigger Russian army, Batozsky now sounded more worried. And angry.

"The Russians are advancing and the West is not helping. Just words are not enough," he lamented. Batozky pleaded for Western countries to intervene militarily.

Among those taking up arms for the first time as volunteers for the civilian army include Jews like Batozsky, who was passionately devoted to the Ukrainian national cause in his native Donetsk years before Russia decided to wage war on the entire country. He was a former adviser to the governor of Donetsk, Serhiy Taruta, now a member of the Ukrainian parliament.

Donetsk is one of two eastern regions where pro-Russian separatists, supported by the Russian military, clashed with the Ukrainian forces from 2014 to 2015. The simmering conflict was the precursor for the current Russian invasion as Donetsk and Luhansk declared independence, which is not recognized by Ukraine.

Which Side Are We On? Biden's New Iran Nuke Deal Gives Russia $10 Billion
[PJMedia] Old Joe Biden watched Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s address to Congress Wednesday and pronounced the Ukrainian president "convincing." Biden said that "Putin is inflicting appalling — appalling devastation and horror on Ukraine — bombing apartment buildings, maternity wards, hospitals. I mean, it’s — it’s God awful." As a result, "We are crippling Putin’s economy with punishing sanctions that’s going to only grow more painful over time with the entire NATO and EU behind us, and many other countries." The old man boasted that "the American people are answering President Zelenskyy’s call for more help, more weapons for Ukraine to defend itself, more tools to fight Russian aggression." Biden insisted that "it’s about freedom." It all sounded great, but he didn’t mention one key detail: his handlers’ new nuke deal with Iran will give Russia ten billion dollars. So who is paying for all that Russian aggression? A large chunk of this cash will be coming from you and me.

The Washington Free Beacon reported Wednesday that "Russia’s top state-controlled energy company," Rosatom, "is set to cash in on a $10 billion contract to build out one of Iran’s most contested nuclear sites as part of concessions granted in the soon-to-be-announced nuclear agreement that will guarantee sanctions on both countries are lifted."

Rosatom is set to work on the Bushehr nuclear plant in Tehran. According to the Free Beacon, "Russia and the Biden administration confirmed on Tuesday that the new nuclear agreement includes carveouts that will waive sanctions on both countries so that Russia can make good on this contract."

State Department Spokesman Ned Price tried to paint a happy face on this fiasco, claiming that "we, of course, would not sanction Russian participation in nuclear projects that are part of resuming full implementation of the JCPOA," that is, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, Obama’s disastrous 2015 nuclear deal. Of course.

And so Russia will get ten billion dollars from Iran to spruce up one of its nuclear plants, and where will that money come from? Gabriel Noronha, a former State Department official, explained on March 7 that "Iran is set to get access to a massive windfall of cash: My latest estimate (derived from figures declassified during my tenure at the State Department) is $90 billion in access to foreign exchange reserves, and then a further $50-$55 billion in extra revenue each year from higher oil and petrochemical exports, with no restrictions on how or where the money can be spent. Personally, the most troubling transfer of funds will be the $7 billion ransom payment the United States is preparing to pay for the release of four Americans from an Iranian jail. Now, let me be clear: I would be extremely glad to bring these Americans back home safely as quickly as possible. They are innocent victims who, along with their families, have suffered unjustly for far too long. But make no mistake: Biden’s payment will only supercharge Iran’s hostage-taking industry."

#1  Total scam. Putin is getting everything he wanted. Ukraine is totally fucked for decades to come, and the EU and the US will be on the hook to pay for this basket case. The US is paying Russia for oil and to help Iran. Africa and the Middle East will keep paying for Russian arms and wheat. India is now going to accept rubles, the Saudis are shifting out of dollars and into the yuan, and China and Russia are closer than ever.

Total fail. The only explanation is that Biden and the other crooks are getting kickbacks from Putin's victory in Ukraine

Economy
Bidenflation could increase the cost of air travel by 10%
[Brietbart] Just as soaring inflation has lifted gas prices at the pump under President Joe Biden, now its hitting domestic travel. Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian warned Thursday the airlines’ U.S. ticket prices could increase between five and 10 percent in coming weeks as oil costs continue to climb.

The leap in fuel costs for a U.S. domestic flight "is probably about $25 on a ticket, that could be anywhere between 5% to 10% at these high levels of oil ... and international [flights] will be a bit higher than that," Bastian told the BBC in an interview Thursday.

In addition to raising the price of U.S. tickets, Delta is planning to implement an added fuel fee for international flights.

Other airlines, such as AirAsia, Emirates and Japan Airlines have also taken similar steps by adding fuel surcharges, according to the BBC report.

The news comes as oil prices show little if any path downwards in the immediate future and the American public holds slim hopes for change under the current administration.

#1  I would have thought more. Cost centers are labor, fuel, & debt service, at grossly 1/3 each. Double fuel cost bumps the price 15%, then add the secondary bumps as labor demands rise, and as the interest rates get raised. I bet it comes to 25% increase.

Russia Bond Prices Skyrocket Over 100% in Past Week as Default Risk Tumbles
[FinanceYahoo] Russia has transferred U.S. dollars to settle coupon payments due Wednesday on two Eurobonds, according to people familiar with the matter.

The people declined to be identified because they aren’t authorized to speak publicly on the issue. A Treasury spokeswoman said U.S. sanctions on Russia don’t prohibit Russia from making these debt payments, mirroring a similar statement from Wednesday.

Russia’s Finance Ministry said earlier on Friday the $117 million payment on the dollar bonds is with Citigroup Inc., and that the nation has fulfilled its obligations to investors. JPMorgan Chase & Co. processed the funds, serving as the correspondent bank Russia used to send the payment to Citigroup, Bloomberg News reported. There are still several steps to go before investors get their cash, and as of 11:00 a.m. in London, five bondholders in Europe say they haven’t received the coupon payments.

The wider market interest in the fact that the transfer was in dollars, and Citigroup has the cash, exemplifies just how complicated Russia’s relationship has become with global investor. In the weeks since it invaded Ukraine, the energy-rich nation has become the world’s most sanctioned and saw its credit grade sink well into junk on expectations of a default -- if not on the coupons due this week, then possibly later. A spokesperson for Citigroup declined to comment earlier on Friday.

“I can’t remember a time when there has been more uncertainty over a sovereign -- the Argentina default back in 2001 was messy but predictable,” said Gary Kirk, a portfolio manager at TwentyFour Asset Management. “This is far more difficult due to the global sanctions.”

Minister Anton Siluanov was cited by RIA Novosti as saying this week that the nation would try to settle the payment in dollars, but if that fails, they’ll use rubles instead. Russia has a 30-day grace period to meet the payment obligations starting Thursday.

Some investors are optimistic that bondholders will be paid in dollars. Russian credit swaps on Friday imply a 48% chance of default within a year, according to CMAI data, down from 60% Thursday morning. And its bonds due 2023 and 2043 -- which had two coupons due this week -- are holding gains that helped boost their price by more than 100% this week. Both are still trading at deeply distressed levels -- at around half their par value.

Russia's hard-currency sovereign bonds mostly traded well above par until mid-February, as investors shrugged off Moscow's troop build-up on Ukraine's border and U.S. warnings that an invasion was imminent. The decline since has been rapid, with longer-dated issues now indicated at around 20 cents in the dollar, although trading has all but ground to a halt.

‘It's a Trap’: American Boogaloo Bois in Ukraine say they were given no weapons, NATO military base ‘got fucked up’ and most were killed
Yesterday we had his video. Today we get the rest of the story.
[NYMag] Henry Hoeft, a 28-year-old former U.S. Army infantryman and steelworker from a small town outside Columbus, Ohio, was compelled earlier this month to leave his young son to fight in Ukraine, where his father’s family has its roots. After fundraising online and saying his good-byes, Hoeft packed up some of the combat gear he used sporadically in recent years as a member of the boogaloo boys — the extremist, anti-government militia that rose to notoriety in 2020 — and took the route that has become common for the thousands of ex-military types attracted to the newly established Ukrainian foreign legion. Posting about his journey on TikTok and Instagram, he flew to Poland, crossed the border around March 9 with fellow Ohio boogaloo alum Mike Dunn, and joined an outfit accepting combat volunteers from abroad.

“I hope that the war will end tomorrow,” he told the Columbus Dispatch before leaving. “But I will be there for as long as it takes.” Dunn and Hoeft looked energized as they provided family members and thousands of followers with travel updates on social media. After arriving in Ukraine, they described suiting up with the Georgian National Legion (which, unlike some similar groups, does not require foreign fighters to sign indefinite contracts). But within the week, Hoeft had a different message: “People need to stop coming here.”

In a video posted to his Instagram Stories on March 15, Hoeft claimed that he was serving with the Georgian contingent in Ukraine when his base “got fucked up” and a number of foreign volunteers from the U.S. and Great Britain were killed. (A Russian Defense Ministry spokesman referred to military volunteers earlier this month as “mercenaries” who would not be “considered as combatants in accordance with international humanitarian law.”) Hoeft said that when a group of American, Canadian, and British volunteers refused an order to serve in Kyiv with “no fucking weapons” and partially filled magazines, they were told “to get the fuck out” of the brigade. Hoeft says he and two others then hid in the back of an ambulance trying to leave the country. At the border, they stripped off their military gear to pose as civilians when they heard customs officials were sending foreign-legion volunteers back to the front. “It’s a trap,” he said in a video recorded in Poland.

Hoeft’s message and his decision to bow out of the fight early appeared to create a rift between him and Dunn, the former leader of a boogaloo faction in Ohio called the Last Sons of Liberty. A former Marine who says his military career was shortened by a heart condition, Dunn told ProPublica last year that he was “willing to die in the streets” fighting the U.S. government. (Hoeft claims he ditched the Last Sons when the group “got all crazy.”) On his TikTok account, which has now been banned, Dunn pushed back on Hoeft’s claims, while other Georgian National Legion volunteers denied Hoeft’s allegations that they were threatened if they did not leave the unit.

False "Lessons" of 1939: Poland reminds us not to lead Ukraine down the "primrose path" to catastrophe

#1  This is true
"Washington’s loud championing of the Ukrainian cause has recently been accompanied by contrary signs of weakness and appeasement, from the humiliating botch of the NATO withdrawal from Afghanistan last summer to President Biden’s hint that a “minor incursion” into Ukraine might not occasion a decisive response. Like Chamberlain veering between irrational extremes in 1938-1939, the West’s Ukraine policy has blatantly provoked Russian anxieties and offered Ukrainians the false promise of an American security umbrella, while doing nowhere near enough to actually deter Russia. Ukraine may not suffer as badly as Poland did from 1939 to 1945, but much of the country has already gotten wrecked."
Posted by: Whinesing Shererong4016 || 03/18/2022 10:30 Comments || Top||

#2  This says it all. Biden and the West did nothing to deter Russia and did everything to provoke Russia. The Ukrainians like the Poles in 1939-45 get to pay the price for Western failure

#3  Putin was following the pathway pioneered by Hitler in 1938-9.
Hitler convinced Chamberlain to give up his guarantees to Czechoslovakia in a conference at Munich in the Fall of 1938, and was allowed to taken over areas of that country that had German majorities. This alarmed Stalin, who worried that the Western powers could not be counted on to respect their international obligations.
Then in the Spring of 1939 Hitler took over the rest of Czechoslovakia, (with its large armament industry) with no real opposition, since the Czechs were defenseless after the first occupation.
This is what Putin expected to happen to Ukraine. It was supposed to consider its situation hopeless and accept Russian conquest.
Actually that occupation of Czechoslovakia, which grossly violated the Munich agreements, was greeted by Britain and France by mere talk, and this spooked Stalin completely and in response decided to make alliance with Hitler. His foreign ministry with that of Germany developed the plan to make war on Poland, and by so doing, started Wor;d War 2. Th USSR delayed its attack on Poland for two weeks for propaganda purposes, but documents show that the USSR was one of the countries that willfully started that horrible war.
(That it took part in the War Crimes trials in which Germans were punished both for war crimes and for starting the war, was part legitimate and part absurd.)
Hitler's success in Czechoslovakia and Poland at relatively little cost, boosted his popularity in Germany, and went to his head, causing him to decide to attack the USSR and the USA as well, in 1941.
Perhaps Putin is lucky that he has been bloodied in the early stages of his adventures.

400 Bulletproof Vests Destined For Ukraine Stolen In NYC: Officials
[ZeroHedge] The bulletproof vests were stolen from the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America, a nonprofit organization based in Manhattan, the New York Police Department confirmed to news outlets on Wednesday.

“People right now in our community, they’re either in church praying or everyone is feeling disenfranchised. They have no power right now, and then this happens, and that absolutely affects people,” Ukrainian Congress Committee of America spokesman Andrij Dobriansky told NBC 4.

Police responded to a call of a burglary at around 9:15 a.m. before they “were informed that approximately 400 bulletproof vests were removed from the location,” NYPD Sergeant Edward Riley told the outlet.

He said that those vests were meant to be sent to medics, aid workers, and others—but not Ukrainian military members.

“Who isn’t being supplied are territorial defenses, the people who are getting humanitarian supplies across. So these kinds of donations—whether they come from Suffolk County, we have a lot of police precincts in New Jersey and upstate New York also donating, these are why it’s important,” said Dobriansky.

“As far as we can tell, maybe about three-quarters of that supply was taken last night,” added Dobriansky.

New York’s Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office told the New York Post that it donated vests to the group but wouldn’t confirm the 400 vests that were stolen were the ones that it had donated.

Alleged Home Intruder Pulls Knife, Gets Shot Dead
Don't miss the comments.
[Breitbart] A homeowner shot and killed an alleged intruder armed with a knife Tuesday night in Houston, Texas.

CBS Austin reports that the homeowner noticed he could not get inside his own residence from the side door so he went around to the front, where he confronted an alleged home intruder exiting around 7:45 p.m.

The alleged intruder was armed with a knife and allegedly tried to stab the homeowner, who responded by shooting and fatally wounding the suspect.

A detective told ABC 13, “As [the homeowner’s] walking around to the front of his residence, a man approaches him with a knife. The homeowner attempts to retreat, but the man continues to follow him with a knife in a threatening manner. The homeowner discharges his firearm one time, striking the individual.”

The alleged intruder was transported to a hospital, where he died.

Biden Shifts Taxpayer Funds from Red States to Landlords in High-Immigration Democrat Districts
[Breitbart] President Joe Biden’s deputies are taking $377 million from GOP-run heartland states to aid landlords in four Democrat-run states that use illegal migration to inflate their economies, according to a report in the New York Times.

White House officials have already pressured governors in states to shift $875 million for poor renters into urban districts, the newspaper reported March 16, adding:

Now they are going one step further, pulling back [$377 million in] cash from states with relatively few tenants — like Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wyoming — or localities that failed to efficiently distribute the aid, including Alabama, Arkansas and several counties in Texas.

The money, in turn, is being diverted to four states that burned through their allotted amounts — with $136 million in additional aid headed to California, $119 million to New York, $47 million to New Jersey and $15 million to Illinois, according to a spreadsheet provided by a senior administration official. North Carolina, Washington and other localities will be receiving smaller amounts.

“This is better … But it’s a pitiful drop in the bucket compared to what we need,” said Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY) told the New York Times.

“There’s just no question that immigration adds a lot more poor people to some states, who then need rent assistance, who drive up the cost of lower-income housing,” said Steven Camarota, the research director at the Center of Immigration Studies.

By encouraging migration, he said, “you create the political pressure for more assistance to low-income people to afford housing in the same way that immigration adds a lot of uninsured people to the country and so it creates a lot of political pressure to create Obamacare … We know that about a fourth of all low-income children in America live in immigrant households.”

Many states have inflated their local economies and locally funded businesses by welcoming many legal and illegal migrants. This use of migrants, however, has suppressed wages and inflated rents, leaving the states with growing populations of poor Americans and immigrants. Roughly one-third of the nation’s low-income renters live in the high-migration, high-rent states.

The GOP’s establishment wing has helped to create this economic shift away from red states. However, some GOP legislators are pushing back against the wealth transfer. They include Rep. Lance Gooden (R-TX), Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN), Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL), Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX). Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA), Rep. Madison Cawthorne (R-NC), Rep. Beth Van Duyne (R-TX), and Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ).

Overall, the federal government’s policy of extracting migrant workers, consumers, and renters from foreign nations for use in the U.S. economy has shifted vasts amount of investment and wealth wage-earners to investors and from heartland states to the coastal states. That wealth transfer has also reduced the heartland states’ political and cultural status.

This migration-fuelled economic divide is also occurring within states, such as Texas, where housing funds were transferred from lower-migration districts to urban renters. The New York Times reported the $875 million transfer in January:

Arizona officials agreed to shift $39 million to the state’s largest county, Maricopa, while Georgia moved about $50 million from its allocation to Fulton and DeKalb Counties in the Atlanta area. The biggest single shift took place in Wisconsin, where Gov. Tony Evers, a Democrat, agreed to move about $110 million to county and city officials in Milwaukee, according to the Treasury Department.

#1  That has been the blue state's scam for decades. Extract wealth from the red areas to prop up their far left spending ideas. Trump was the first to try to upset that applecart and they got rid of him for it.

With the 2022 and 2024 elections, along with more republican governors, that gravy train is rapidly coming to an end.

For the Russians, NATO membership for Sweden and Finland is undesirable, but it does not present the same threat as Ukraine in terms of being a prime invasion route.

Echoing Biden, Blinken says he believes Russia committing 'war crimes' in Ukraine
[ABC] Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Thursday that he personally believes war crimes have been committed in Ukraine, a day after President Joe Biden labeled Russian President Vladimir Putin a "war criminal" for the first time since Putin launched his invasion.

"Yesterday, President Biden said that in his opinion, war crimes have been committed in Ukraine. Personally, I agree," Blinken said. "Intentionally targeting civilians is a war crime. After all the destruction of the past few weeks, I find it difficult to conclude that the Russians are doing otherwise."

Before the U.S. officially labels Putin's actions as war crimes, Blinken said State Department experts from the Office of Global Criminal Justice are documenting and evaluating evidence for a formal determination and will share the findings with those responsible for accountability. But he acknowledged reports on intentional attacks from the bombing of a Drama Theater housing children to opening fire at people waiting in line for bread.

New Hampshire House Approves Over-The-Counter Ivermectin
[Zero] By a 183 to 159 vote, New Hampshire’s Republican-dominated House of Representatives approved HB1022, which would allow pharmacists to dispense Ivermectin under a standing order, meaning anyone can go to a pharmacist and get the human-grade of the medication.

NH Republican lawmaker Leah Cushman, a nurse, and the bill’s sponsor, told The Epoch Times in January that she "had absolutely no doubt lives will be saved if human grade Ivermectin was available to COVID patients."

"House Republicans sent a clear message today that we support expanding options for the treatment of COVID," Cushman told The Epoch Times.

She said its approval by the House also means people will not have to resort to buying human-grade Ivermectin from a foreign country in order to exercise their right to use the medication to treat their symptoms.

Cushman added that the provision in the bill that safeguards doctors from any potential discipline—or an investigation by the state’s licensing board—for prescribing Ivermectin for COVID-19 takes "some of the political pressure" off them.

The bill still has to win final approval from the Senate, but that is also Republican-controlled and so far its GOP lawmakers have shown they believe in the state’s Live Free or Die motto when it comes to treatment choices about COVID-19.

There's even threats. In fact, the cheaper HCQ, which came mostly from India was blocked by Europe for all its 'countries' arbitrarily, just because it was something Trump had advised and later Chinese suppliers were contracted for substandard intermediates to locally produce HCQ for the French military. India was ready with shipments that were then mad to sit in storage. So we sent them to Africa, Afghanistan, even Pakistain free of cost.

Food Shortages Soon Come – What To Do?
[American Thinker] A concatenation of events is dropping on us like an imploding building and there’s not much we can do to stop it. However, we can mitigate some of the potential damage through our individual efforts and need to get started now.

But first, one bit of good news. H. Douglas Lightfoot and Gerald Ratzer have published a paper, "The Sun Versus CO2 as the Cause of Climate Change Projected to 2050," that thrashes the IPCC’s global warming model.

However, the paper also kicks off this food shortage discussion. The authors say the earth "is now in the early stages of cooling that might be similar to the Dalton Minimum and last for three or four decades. Average temperatures can drop by up to 1.5 degrees C and increase the rate of crop failures that have already started. It won’t be easy to maintain the benefits of the recent warm phase of the Sun during the upcoming solar minimum." That’s 2.7 degrees F, and significant.

Lightfoot and Ratzer confirm that we’ve already entered the Modern Grand Solar Minimum (GSM) and that negative impacts on crops are already occurring. We’ve seen harvest shortfalls in a variety of crops around the world over the past couple of seasons. Coupled with these shortfalls, a few countries have limited or halted exports of staple products, mostly grains and legumes.

For two years and continuing until today, there have been interruptions in commodities for sale. A number of factors contribute to this stuttering availability of commercial goods. Labor shortages in picking, packing, processing, and transportation led to gaps on some grocery shelves. Delayed imports of raw materials for canning, bottling, and bagging due to shutdowns in countries of origin will likely continue, especially now that China is locking down whole cities again.

Because of recent crop failures and lackluster harvests, many regional grocery warehouses, which usually have about 18 months’ worth of packaged and frozen food in stock, are practically empty according to a friend whose family owns a large chain of stores. Low stocks of livestock feed and hay due to drought are reducing meat, poultry, milk, and egg production in some areas.

Monica Showalter’s excellent article the other day—Biden is about to get caught flat-footed on another crisis: Ukraine war—generated global food shortages— examines the impact that Russia’s war on Ukraine is having and is expected to have on global grain and fertilizer availability, as well as food production.

Besides the drought hitting the mid-plains and potentially causing the abandonment of this year’s winter wheat (that’s for flour) crop, the La Niña system is expected to bring above-average rains to the eastern and southeastern parts of the US, potentially delaying planting and harvest. If California continues to value a practically nonexistent smelt over its people, there will be little water for the Sacramento-area rice farmers. They’ve already pulled down avocado and almond orchards due to restricted water allocations elsewhere in the state.

Farmers are being hit hard by shortages and skyrocketing inflation, just like the rest of us. Anhydrous ammonia, used to fertilize most grain and many row crops, has had a massive jump in price from $487 per ton in 2020, to $746 in 2021, to a record-breaking $1,492 per ton the first week of February this year. Demand for fertilizer is expected to grow, but high prices in Europe for natural gas (from which the fertilizer is made) caused a slowdown in manufacturing last winter.

#6  Good to see these ideas presented. Seeing a garden in sandy area I asked owner to show me. He pulled a six inch carrot out of the soil with ease. No digging. Why? Soil is so sandy he had to add sawdust to hold moisture. I did the same in my patch by adding coffee grounds and several bags of sand. Lose soil helps roots to grow and soil is spongy not compacted as was previously with clay soil. Cinders from coal ash does the same and blackens the soil and crops do marvelously well. Worms love these light soils as well.

TO COME?

While documenting large price increases and hidden reduced package size adjustments. I have been also noting and taking Cell Ph. pic's of empty food shelves and freezers in too many Big Box stores.

I am also finding more and more items on shelves with closely approaching Best By or Use By dates. While strangely, I have the same item already home with further out dates?

But either way, we have seen various item shortages since the start of the Pandemic (TP, Masks, Hand cleaners and etc.) Now stores cannot get rid of their stock of these even with drastic price cuts.

HOWEVER FOOD
Was not a major problem for our neck of the woods until around early Aug./Sept. of 2021.
Then we started noticing longer outages of more and more items with large price increases when found in stock.

BTW: From the "SEEING IS BELIEVING" world versus media hype.

The Pepsico owned & WOKEN Pearl Milling Company brand is in plentiful supply????

Either they have ramped up extra production, or a lot of consumers are avoiding it because of the way they played Political WOKE with the people that once purchased their products.

Hypothesis: In the past wholesale warehouses culled product that was close to expiration or Best By date, eating the loss, selling to dollar stores, or donating to nearby food banks. But now that supply is so tight, they’re selling that stock to retailers, giving the supply chain a little breathing room.

#11  There would have been continual food distribution problems this year regardless due to the same issues we had late last year.

This is new and above with this war. Fertilizer will either be very pricy or just not available, wheat from Russia and Ukraine that normally goes to the middle east will be in very short supply, energy disruption will cause transport costs to go up for everything and China will continue to hoover up all the food it can to rebuild its swine herd and feed its people as it has a food shortage from the floods last year.

Global famine for most 3rd world countries that import their food is guaranteed with much higher costs everywhere else.

#12  Food sovereignty must be a real consideration for the US. We have been a source of food for much fo the world and have been blessed with such abundance that it has ceased to even be a thought in public policy. That attitude must end. Moderna seeks FDA authorization for 4th dose of COVID shot
WASHINGTON (AP) — Drugmaker Moderna asked the Food and Drug Administration on Thursday to authorize a fourth shot of its COVID-19 vaccine as a booster dose for all adults.

The request is broader than rival pharmaceutical company Pfizer’s request earlier this week for the regulator to approve a booster shot for all seniors.

In a press release, the company said its request for approval for all adults was made "to provide flexibility" to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and medical providers to determine the "appropriate use" of a second booster dose of the mRNA vaccine, "including for those at higher risk of COVID-19 due to age or comorbidities."

US officials have been laying the groundwork to deliver additional booster doses to shore up the vaccines’ protection against serious disease and death from COVID-19. The White House has been sounding the alarm that it needs Congress to "urgently" approve more funding for the federal government to secure more doses of the COVID-19 vaccines, either for additional booster shots or variant-specific immunizations.

#4  "I don't understand. Can some kind soul explain?"

1. Impose sanctions, create war hysteria and use media shills to tell the world Russia's about to fall off a cliff. Watch the credit default spread (=perceived risk of default) soar.

2. Verify that Russia has plenty of cash to meet its debt obligations and fund the war.

3. Confirm with Indian and Chinese sources that they will create rupee-ruble and yuan-ruble payment mechanisms to make sure sanctions don't kill or cripple Russia.

4. Buy Russian credit default swaps after they've fallen.

5. Watch Russia meet its interest payments, causing credit default swaps to soar.

6. Sell credit default swaps and pocket hundreds of millions.

#11  Arbitrage used to be an easy manual market ploy, but electronic trading and near instantaneous spreads have made it impossible for anyone but institutions to employ. But, if you can move entire world news reporting and build massive expectations on either side of the financial instrument being traded, and you can avoid the regulatory oversight enforcement, then you can make obscene profits. Soros and the Kremlin seems likely winners. A lot of lesser players got ruined is my guess.

Putin's Scum and Traitors speech Sounds More Like Flop-Sweat and Desperation
[Gateway] On Wednesday, as Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was touting a ’light at the end of the tunnel’ to the war in Ukraine (see Proposed ’Fifteen Point Peace Plan’ in Russia-Ukraine War Is a Total Defeat for Putin, but Zelensky Is Biding His Time), President Vladimir Putin gave a speech that did not indicate that he had any intention of settling for less than total victory in Ukraine and signaled a crackdown on elements of his own society.

The first part of the speech repeats his litany of complaints about Ukraine, the hardships imposed on the people of Donetsk and Luhansk (he never mentions that their hardship is 100% self-inflicted by them entering into a state of insurrection, and he never mentions that Russia fomented that insurrection and bears primary responsibility for those hardships), and the indignities suffered by Noble Russia at the hands of NATO and their stooges in Ukraine.

#7  So.. does that mean that in the USA we should consider Indians at high positions in the US business and government to be potential 5th column?

Potential? Allowing large numbers of Indians into this country was a mistake. Putting them in high managerial positions in major corporations was an even bigger mistake. I've worked with and around Indians since the late 80's Only about 5% are really competent.

And here is a fact that cannot be disputed. An Indian in managerial position will only hire Indians in this order: family, village, cast, gotra/sub-gotra, nationality.

I can say this because I'm a white man married to an Indian for 20 years, been to India 30 times in that span. My father in and some my male cousins in law sat me down and explained in detail about India and Indians. Pops was a retired Indian Air Force Wing Commander from the Medical Corp.

For some decades now Taiwan has been considered to be a 'breakout' nuclear power - that is, they don't have any assembled bombs or warheads...but they have components here and parts there and materials back that way that when assembled produce a functional device.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Interview: What To Expect In The Next Phase Of The Ukraine War
[RadioFreeEuropeRadioLiberty] According to conservative estimates, Russia has lost more troops in three weeks of war in Ukraine than the United States did in more than 20 years in Afghanistan and Iraq combined.

U.S. and British defense officials say more than 7,000 Russian soldiers have been killed so far. The figure is considered on the low end of the casualty count, with the Ukrainian Defense Ministry saying its forces have killed more than 14,000. Moscow has only issued an official casualty number once, on March 2, when it said 498 soldiers had been killed. The Russian Defense Ministry has not issued an estimate since.

Putting together a casualty figure is inexact and relies on combing through satellite images and videos of battles, U.S. officials and independent analysts say, which is reflected in the large range of estimates in Ukraine.

While the overall figures may be imprecise, it is becoming clearer that Russia is facing major setbacks in its war effort, with growing reports of low morale, defections, and mounting logistical complications.

Despite these problems, Russia’s military campaign makes sporadic, minor progress in some parts of Ukraine as the war enters a decisive stage for both sides.

To find out more about what to expect, RFE/RL spoke with Russian military expert Michael Kofman, who heads the Russia Studies Program at the Virginia-based think tank CNA.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran defies Western powers with enriched uranium work it was warned not to do
[IsraelTimes] UN atomic agency report said to find that uranium was converted from one form to another, making it harder to dilute and transport out of country, as planned in emerging deal

Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites....
has defied Western countries by carrying out work on near-weapons grade enriched uranium that will make it harder to implement the terms of any revived nuclear deal with world powers, Rooters reported Wednesday.

The work carried out earlier this month was to convert the uranium into a type that is less easily recovered and diluted so that it can then be removed from the country, according to an ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency report issued to member states last Thursday and seen by Rooters.

It came as negotiations continue in Vienna to save the so-called Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, a pact that aimed to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons but has been in tatters after the US pulled out in 2018. Since then, Iran has dropped some of its own commitments, enriching uranium to levels beyond those in the deal and that the IAEA says are only used by states seeking a weapon.

Converting uranium into a different form in the manner Iran has done will make it harder to implement any agreement for it to return to lower limits of enriched uranium laid out in the JCPOA.

Diplomats say that the emerging agreement will require Iran to dispose of its uranium enriched above 3.67%. Iran’s most enriched uranium is at 60%, a short technical step from 90% weapons grade, and it has about 33 kg of the material.

Until the recent work, it was all in the form of uranium hexafluoride, which can be easily diluted and transported, something that has been under discussion for months at the Vienna talks, Rooters reported.

However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
between March 6-9, Iran transformed 2.1 kg of up to 60% uranium from one form into 1.7 kg of another form. The process produced molybdenum 99, and another a medical radioisotope. However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
the enriched uranium then requires processing to recover it from the resulting materials.

In a joint statement last week, the Britannia, La Belle France, and Germany specifically warned Iran against carrying out the work, saying that doing so would have consequences for returning to the terms of the JCPOA.

"We strongly urge Iran to avoid undertaking any new escalations and in particular, call upon Iran to immediately cease all activity related to conversion of highly enriched uranium, which will have practical implications for returning to JCPOA limits," they said at the time.

DEAL CLOSE
Washington said Wednesday it was "close" to a deal with Iran on reviving the 2015 pact that saw Western powers provide sanctions relief in exchange for curbs on Tehran’s nuclear program, the latest sign of advancement following prolonged deadlock.

Days after Russian demands seemed to jeopardize talks in Vienna over restoring the pact, this week has seen multiple signals that an accord may at last be within reach, including the release of two British Iranians Wednesday after years of detention in Iran, and word that outstanding issues have narrowed to just two.

The negotiations began last April between Britannia, China, La Belle France, Germany, Iran and Russia, with the United States taking part indirectly.

The EU diplomat chairing the Vienna talks, Enrique Mora, told news hounds last week that delegations were down to negotiating the footnotes of the text, but progress stalled when Moscow demanded guarantees that Western sanctions over its invasion of Ukraine would not affect its trade with Iran.

However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov indicated Tuesday that Russia had received "written guarantees" from Washington.

Iran said Wednesday there were two remaining sticking points in Vienna, including an "economic guarantee" in case a future US administration repeats Trump’s abrogation.

Another source close to the talks said the other issue was the status of Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guards, which Washington has branded a terrorist organization.

US Fed raises interest rate in battle against high inflation
BLUF: Up a quarter of a point from zero, possibly to 1.75% by the end of the year — calendar or fiscal is not clarified. Inflation forecast up, growth forecast down.
[AlAhram] The Federal Reserve escalated its battle against the wave of prices increases battering the US economy on Wednesday by raising the benchmark interest even as it acknowledged the risk posed by the war in Ukraine.

At the conclusion of its two-day meeting, the policy-setting Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) announced a quarter-point rate hike, the first since 2018 and since it cut the rate to zero at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The central bank is walking a tightrope to ensure its efforts don't derail the recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic even as Russia's invasion of Ukraine introduces new uncertainty in an economy battered by supply chain snarls and labor shortages.

In a statement, the FOMC said the fallout from the war in Ukraine is "likely to create additional upward pressure on inflation" and also could "weigh on economic activity," although the "implications for the US economy are highly uncertain."

Pointing to "elevated" inflation due to "supply and demand imbalances related to the pandemic, higher energy prices, and broader price pressures," the statement said that "ongoing increases" in the policy rate will be "appropriate."

While the rate cut in March 2020 was meant to support the economy as Covid-19 caused massive disruptions to businesses, the United States over the past year has been hit by high inflation, with prices for gasoline, food, cars, and rents pushing the overall consumer price index to a four-decade high.

Markets are expecting as many as seven rate hikes this year, which would take the policy rate to 1.75 percent, assuming the central bank increases by a quarter-point at each meeting.

DISSENTING VOTE
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell has said policymakers will do whatever it takes to keep inflation from becoming entrenched, including larger rate hikes.

One member of the committee, St. Louis Fed President James Bullard, dissented from the vote, arguing for a more aggressive half-point increase as the first step in the tightening cycle.

The FOMC also released its quarterly economic projections, showing members of the committee raised their median inflation forecast for the year to 4.3 percent from 2.6 percent previously, and slashed the growth estimate to 2.8 percent from 4.0 percent.

Members were split on how high rates would go, with nine still expecting the level to be below two percent at the end of the year, and seven looking for a higher rate.

The last time the Fed raised interest rates was in December 2018.

US stocks opened the day with solid gains, but retreated after the announcement, although they stayed in positive territory.

The blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average was up less than 0.2 percent around 1820 GMT.

And their forecast of inflation of 4.3% would fail any question on an Econ 101 test. They might want to look at BLS releases on what the actual rate is (Spoiler alert: Currently 7.9% and going higher.)

Scientists claim hairy black holes explain Hawking paradox
[BBC] Scientists say they have solved one of the biggest paradoxes in science first identified by Prof Stephen Hawking.

He highlighted that black holes behave in a way that puts two fundamental theories at odds with each other.

Black holes are dead stars that have collapsed and have such strong gravity that not even light can escape.

New research claims to have resolved the paradox by showing that black holes have a property which they call "quantum hair".

"The problem has been cracked!" Prof Xavier Calmet of the University of Sussex, told BBC News exclusively, with much satisfaction. He was among those who developed the mathematical techniques they say has solved the paradox.

At the heart of the paradox is a problem which has threatened to undermine two of physics most important theories. Einstein's general theory of relativity says information about what goes into a black hole cannot come out, but quantum mechanics says that is impossible.

Now that Joe Biden's president, The Times finally admits: Hunter's laptop is real
[NYPOST] Forgive the profanity, but you have got to be s—tting us.

First, The New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

decides more than a year later that Hunter Biden’s business woes are worthy of a story. Then, deep in the piece, in passing, it notes that Hunter’s laptop is legitimate.

"People familiar with the investigation said prosecutors had examined emails between Mr. Biden, Mr. Archer and others about Burisma and other foreign business activity," The Times writes. "Those emails were obtained by The New York Times from a cache of files that appears to have come from a laptop abandoned by Mr. Biden in a Delaware repair shop. The email and others in the cache were authenticated by people familiar with them and with the investigation."

Authenticated!!! You don’t say. You mean, when a newspaper actually does reporting on a topic and doesn’t just try to whitewash coverage for Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. Sleazy Dem mschine politician, paterfamilias of the Biden Crime Family...
, it discovers it’s actually true?

But wait, it doesn’t end there. In October 2020, The Times cast doubt that there was a meeting between Joe Biden and an official from Burisma, the Ukrainian gas company for which Hunter was a board member. "A Biden campaign front man said Mr. Biden’s official schedules did not show a meeting between the two men," The Times wrote, acting as a perfect stenographer.

Yet in the latest report, published Wednesday night, The Times said the meeting likely did happen. Biden had attended the dinner in question. Funny how this works when you don’t just take someone’s word for it.

In the heat of the presidential race of 2020, The Times never missed a chance to cast doubt on the laptop, saying the information was "purported" and quoting a letter from former Democratic officials who claimed — with no evidence — that it was Russian disinformation. As recently as September 2021, The Times called the laptop "unsubstantiated" in a news story.

Why was it unsubstantiated? Because of willful ignorance and The Times curious lack of curiosity. Hunter’s business partner Tony Bobulinski came forward immediately after The Post’s reports and confirmed that the emails bearing his name were legitimate. The Bidens didn’t even deny it was true! They just deflected, with the media’s help, saying it was a dirty trick or not a story. Mostly, the press just ignored it.

Now we’re 16 months away from the 2020 election, Joe Biden’s safely in the White House, and The Times finally decides to report on the news rather than carry the Biden campaign’s water. And they find that hey, Hunter Biden’s business interests benefited from Joe Biden’s political status to a suspicious degree. Perhaps this is a topic worthy of examination.

How did The Times "authenticate" the laptop? It doesn’t say. Unlike The Post’s reporting, which detailed exactly how we got the files and where they came from, The Times does a hand wave to anonymous sources. No facts have changed since fall 2020. They knew the laptop was real from the start. They just didn’t want to say so.

There’s never any shame with these 180s. Sorry that we wrote a "fact check" that turned out to be bull! Sorry we wrote a piece claiming something wasn’t a story and you were stupid for thinking so!

Twitter banned us for supposedly publishing "hacked materials" that weren’t hacked. The company’s CEO apologized, but by that point they had accomplished what they wanted. Like The Times, they cast enough doubt to avoid making their preferred candidate look bad.

Readers of The Times have discovered in March 2022 that Hunter Biden pursued business deals in Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
and Asia, and may have leveraged his father’s position as vice president to do it. Hunter also may not have properly registered with the government nor declared all his income. All legitimate topics of discussion about a presidential candidate’s family, no?

Readers of The Post have known this since October 2020. We also have a much better sports section. We’ve authenticated it.

Courtesy of Skidmore, the Daily Mail is equally indignant: They're as slow as Joe! Sleepy New York Times FINALLY wakes up and admits Hunter Biden's abandoned laptop IS REAL, a YEAR after DailyMail.com authenticated its contents and broke dozens of stories about his shady dealings

#19  I am not suggesting that the politicians push impeachment. Citizens should push impeachment in the same way that they are pushing decertification in Wisconsin and Arizona. Citizens are walking the GOP politicians back into a corner and see which ones are not really up to doing hard stuff. also Joe has a really bad approval rating. Also reminding independents that Joe was on the take from the CCP may drop Joe's approval by another 10 points. There is a red line where Nancy will take Joe out by herself. I am sure they already have a plan for removing him. It is time for us to sweep the leg and drive his approval down on their secret internal polling.

Your lips to God's ears. There are a lot of battles going on. It is hard to tell how they might come out.

1. Redistricting,
2. Decertification of 2020 results,
3. The Dan Schultz precinct strategy,
4. Purge the Pub Party of Rinos,
5. Run as many MAGA candidates as possible,
6. Go to court where necessary.
7. Dem policies that suck help a great deal to
make the Pub case (if the Pubs can get past a
hostile left-wing media. They have developed
alternative social media and Twitter type and
websites.
8. School board strategy to gain control by
parents of what content is taught in schools.
9. Reforming the voting process to prevent the
rigging of elections.

The left is fighting like hell all along the way. Gas prices, border issues and inflation have hurt the middle class and the poor and will hurt the left at the ballot box.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Government forces bring in military reinforcements Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, the government forces brought in military reinforcements to the northern countryside of Daraa and reinforced one of its most prominent military checkpoints with heavy vehicles and dozens of members.

“The government forces brought in military reinforcements, including heavy vehicles, from some of their military sites in the countryside of Daraa governorate to Jassim city in the northern countryside of Daraa,” a local source told North Press.

“The government forces reinforced the National Hospital checkpoint, one of the most prominent and largest checkpoints in Jassim city, north of Daraa, with a number of heavy vehicles and more than thirty personnel,” the source said.

The reinforcements came to the city two days after the state of tension that it witnessed as a result of the clashes between the government forces and local fighters at the backdrop of the government forces entering the city with the aim of arresting some young men.

The government forces withdrew hours after an agreement was reached between the city’s notables and the government forces officers to withdraw all the government forces and stop the military operation, in exchange for the release of five members who had been captured by local fighters.

Wither Hybrid War
[RealClearDefense] Putin's Offensive in Ukraine Presages the End of "Hybrid Conflict" as a Distinct Analytical Term. What Comes Next Will Be Far More Brutal.

For years, so-called "hybrid war" has bedeviled Western planners and military theorists. The concept of grey-zone or below-threshold conflict saturated American planning assumptions for around a decade, whether against Russia, Iran, or China. The Russian invasion of Ukraine, however, demonstrates that "hybridity" did not transform the character of war, and kinetic force retains its primacy. Whether Putin succeeds or fails in his Ukrainian gamble, Western statesmen would benefit by taking note: China’s most logical actions against Taiwan mirror Russia’s in Ukraine.

Russia's hybrid campaign in Ukraine began with its 2014 annexation of Crimea. Its "Little Green men," unmarked Russian special operations forces, deployed to Crimea in February. They encountered almost no resistance due to the poor state of Ukrainian political authorities, Russia's long-standing presence on the peninsula and Ukrainian pre-2014 military incapacity. Ukrainian soldiers based in Crimea defected en masse, particularly from naval units. When faced with the choice between better pay and remaining with their families under Russian rule, or worse pay and separation from their loved ones, they naturally selected the former option. Russia's operation in Donbas was more aggressive. Initially supporting local militias, Russia gradually shored up its involvement, ultimately deploying Russian units to preserve the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk Peoples Republics.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
The Curious Case Of Russia's 'Back From The Dead' Warship That Ukraine Supposedly Struck
[TheDriveTheWarzone] One of Russia's newest warships was said to have been struck by Ukrainian rockets, but has shown up unscathed in Crimea.

In another example of the fog of war and the myths that have emerged around the conflict in Ukraine, video footage and pictures appeared online today showing the Russian Navy's Project 22160 patrol ship Vasiliy Bykov sailing into the port of Sevastopol on the Crimean Peninsula without any visible damage. The Ukrainian military reportedly severely damaged, if not sunk this vessel in the Black Sea more than a week ago using unguided artillery rockets fired from the shore. A video purportedly of Vasiliy Bykov burning after the supposed attack may actually show a commercial ship that was seriously damaged by an errant Russian missile early in the conflict and that remains on fire in the Black Sea nearly three weeks later.

The Vasiliy Bykov was the first Project 22160 patrol ship to enter service, being commissioned in 2018. The Russian Navy now has three of these vessels on active duty, all assigned to its Black Sea Fleet, which Russia relocated to Crimea after seizing it from Ukraine in 2014. A fourth Project 22160 ship was undergoing sea trials as of October 2021 and two more are under construction.

The Project 22160s, the design of which you can read more about here, are some of the most modern warships in the Russian Navy today. Destroying one would have represented a significant loss for Russia and it's not necessarily surprising that Ukrainian authorities were quick to say they had taken out Vasiliy Bykov.

In addition, Vasiliy Bykov had been involved in the Russian military's assault on Ukraine's Zmiinyi Island, or Snake Island, in the western Black Sea. The Ukrainian defenders there had attained an almost legendary status after audio emerged of them refusing a demand to surrender and responding instead with the now-iconic phrase "Russian warship, go fuck yourself!" The 13 Ukrainian border guards stationed on Snake Island were initially presumed to have been killed in an ensuing attack, though this later turned out not to be the case, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had quickly announced he would honor them as Heroes of Ukraine. So, sinking, or even seriously damaging this ship would have had clear additional propaganda value as a direct act of vengeance.

Still, from the very beginning, there were questions about the likelihood of shore-based short-range, unguided artillery rocket systems being able to hit a relatively small target, at least by ship standards, sailing out in the Black Sea. Subsequent reports said that the Ukrainian armed forces had pulled this off by using small patrol boats to lure the Russian ship toward the shore until it was within range. Video footage showing a burning vessel accompanied the claims as evidence of the attack at least having successfully damaged Vasiliy Bykov.

There is the possibility that the Russian Navy could have repainted one of the other two Project 22160 patrol ships, either the Dmitriy Rogachev or the Pavel Derzhavin, to conceal the loss of Vasily Bykov. However, comparisons between the imagery of the ship today and of it from before March 7 suggest that this is not the case.

....During the Cold War, both the Russians and the US were known to paint new bow numbers on smaller combatants to confuse the other side. I'm not saying this is what happened; I haven't seen enough comparison pictures to make a call - but it's quite within the realm of possibility. If I see a pennant number on a Russian warship, I start by assuming a better than even chance it's not accurate.

Note the Last paragraph?
"There is the possibility that the Russian Navy could have repainted one of the other two Project 22160 patrol ships, either the Dmitriy Rogachev or the Pavel Derzhavin, to conceal the loss of Vasily Bykov." Could Russia have adjusted and painted VASILIY-BIKOV on one of them as counter Properganda efforts?

BTW: the last "known" location Nov. 2021 puts at 41°07'33.6"N 29°04'53.4"E is in the Maslak, Turkey channel area to the Black Sea.

Multiple launch rocket systems like Grad are used to attack area targets, like men and vehicles in the open. With a missile, you need to hit the exact target, with MLRS, you just need to hit the 100 meter square the ship is in.

The VB may not have been sunk, since a warship is a harder target than people and trucks, but could have been damaged for a mission kill. Or the Russians decided they had worn out their welcome and it was time to leave.

Or the latest sighting of the Vasiliy Bykov is simply an inflatable rubber decoy.

Iraq
Former MP warns of more Iranian attacks on Iraq

Shafaq News / Former MP Mithal al-Allousi warned today of more Iranian attacks targeting Iraqi cities.

Al-Allousi told Shafaq News agency that the Iraqi government's "indifference" over the Erbil attack, and doing nothing more than denouncing instead of taking serious steps against this attack that violated the country's sovereignty and stability, will push Tehran to carry out more hostile operations against Iraq and Iraqis.

He expected Tehran to bombard more cities including Baghdad, under the pretext of locating Mossad sites.

Al-Allousi noted that the Iraqi government must take serious steps against this attack.

In the early hours of Sunday, a dozen of ballistic missiles landed in the capital of the Kurdistan region that appeared to target the United States Consulate.

Later that day, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for the missile assault.

Spokesperson to the Kurdistan Regional Government, Gutyar Adel, said yesterday, "we resolutely refuse any reports about a presence of the Mossad or any [foreign] intelligence body in Kurdistan. We asked the Iranian government to participate by itself in the investigation into those baseless claims it made."

Home Front: Politix
Ann Coulter: Dem Nightmare: What if the War Ends Before November?
A few choice paragraphs:
[Breitbart] Great news for Joe Biden. After months of abysmal public approval numbers, President Biden’s favorability among registered voters has soared by 2 points to 45 percent! And all he had to do was bring us to the brink of World War III.

The media are thrilled with the possibility of nuclear war with Russia. Catastrophes are terrific for ratings, and flood-the-zone coverage of a war between two faraway countries that has almost zero effect on the lives of most Americans allows journalists to act like deep-think, geopolitical strategists (after having quickly looked up “Ukraine” on Wikipedia).

They dragged out the COVID panic porn for two straight years. By now, the only people still interested in pandemic updates are hysterical liberal women in Manhattan claiming to have “long-haul COVID.”

The national pastime has segued seamlessly from watching TV anchors cry on TV about the coronavirus to watching TV anchors cry on TV about the fate of Ukrainian children.

I’m sure it’s just a coincidence, but the media’s obsessive focus on Ukraine is terrific for the interests of the Democratic Party. Recall that, in his 2012 book, Left Turn: How Liberal Media Bias Distorts the American Mind, then-UCLA professor Tim Groseclose demonstrated that media bias alone costs Republicans about 8 to 10 percentage points in elections.

And that was 2012. One can only imagine what it is in post-Trump 2022. If only we could return to the junior varsity media bias of 2012!

No riots and marches for him. But he was just a white man panicking because he was afraid of needles, not a black man dying after once again taking an overdose of illegal drugs.
  • Footage of his final moments was released by LA cops on Wednesday after his family sued to see the harrowing video

  • He was pulled over for suspicion of drunk driving and police were forcing him to give blood for a sobriety test

  • His family sued for excessive use of force and violation of his civil rights

  • Daughter Brianna Palomino said her father 'was treated like trash' and did not deserve to die the way he did

  • Video shows Bronstein being forced onto a mat in the police station's garage while handcuffed then five officer kneel on his back as they extract blood

  • He screams 'I can't breathe' 11 times before he eventually falls silent

  • The California Highway Patrol fought the release of the video tape, but a federal judge ordered them to do so

  • Criminal justice experts say the tape shows a callous disregard for human life

Tension breaks out between two Turkish-backed factions in Sere Kaniye

SERE KANIYE, Syria (North Press) – A tension rose between two Turkish-backed armed factions in the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), north of Hasakah, northeast Syria, yesterday.

A tension rose, yesterday, between al-Hamza Division and the Regiment 20, backed by Turkey, due to the defection of a group from al-Hamza Division and join the Regiment 20, a local source told North Press.

The source added that members of the two factions deployed in the city, and leaders of Ahrar al-Sharqiya faction and few Turkish officers intervened to resolve the dispute that sparked between the two factions.

Insecurity has spread in the areas controlled by the Turkish forces and the Turkish-backed opposition factions in northeast Syria since the Turkish invasion in late 2019.

In October 2019, the Turkish forces and the Syrian opposition factions launched ground and aerial offensive against Sere Kaniye and Tel Abyad in NE Syria displacing approximately 300,000 civilians, human rights reports said.

Iraq
Rockets target Salahaddin airbase, no damages reported
[Rudaw] Four rockets targeted Salahaddin's Balad airbase on Thursday without causing any damage, according to a statement from the Iraqi Security Media Cell.

The rockets were allegedly launched from Khalis district, northwest of Baquba by "gangs that do not want stability for Iraq", landing in open spaces in the airbase, reported the cell. The statement added that the rockets "did not leave behind any material or human damages."

The media cell also stated that the authorities will hunt down the perpetrators of this "cowardly terrorist act", reassuring Iraqi citizens that "the acts of criminal terrorist gangs will not pass unless the perpetrators are put behind bars and under the judgment of the law."

Balad airbase, the main base for Iraqi F-16 fighter aircrafts, has been the subject of at least five similar rocket attacks within the past year. The base used to host a number of contractors from an American security firm specialized in the maintenance and supervision of aircrafts, before they evacuated due to security concerns.

In recent months, tens of rocket attacks have targeted Iraqi facilities hosting foreign diplomats and soldiers, including the US embassy in Baghdad.

Similar attacks on international targets in Iraq are blamed on Iran-backed Iraqi militias who want to force American forces to withdraw from the country. The attacks increased after the US assassinated Iranian General Qasem Soleimani and Iraqi militia commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis in Baghdad in January 2020.

The news outlet linked in this story has been banned by the Russian Federation from the Russian network

[KavkazUzel] The court sentenced a resident of the Krasnodar Territory to 10 years in prison, finding her guilty of trying to persuade her son to join the banned terrorist organization Hayat Tahrir ash-Sham.

According to investigators, a resident of the Krasnodar Territory, wishing to join the Hayat Tahrir ash-Sham international terrorist organization
...formerly known as Al Nusra, Al Qaeda’s branch in Syria...
banned in Russia, bought tickets for herself and her son on a plane from Krasnodar to Istanbul. Then she planned to go to Syria with her son.

"Sitnikova also persuaded her son to join the ranks of this organization," Interfax quoted the press service of the Southern District Military Court as saying today.

According to the case file, a resident of Kuban persuaded her son to study the Islamic religion in Turkey in order to then join the Syrian terrorists. She also transferred 10,000 rubles to the terrorists, the press service said.

The court sentenced a resident of Kuban to 10 years in a penal colony, finding her guilty under the articles on attempting to take part in the activities of a terrorist organization and assisting a terrorist organization, as well as under the article on involving a minor in a crime, the report said. There were no comments from the convict or her lawyers regarding the court's decision.

The " Caucasian Knot " also wrote that on December 13, 2021, the court sentenced a 26-year-old man to eight years in a strict regime colony, finding him guilty of trying to persuade prisoners of the Krasnodar pre-trial detention center to participate in an organization banned by the court.

UN approves new Afghanistan mandate, drawing rebuke from Russia
More jizya for the Talibs, even if they have to follow behind the UN rapporteurs, collecting for Allah’s beloved Lions of Islam what the generous idiots abroad meant to give to the needy Afghan civilians.
[DW] The UN Security Council renewed the assistance mission to Afghanistan for another year. Russia abstained from voting, calling out the mission's renewal for "stubborn ignorance of the new realities" of Taliban
...Arabic for students...
rule.

The UN Security Council voted Thursday to renew the UN's assistance mission to Afghanistan for another year.

The UN Special Representative for Afghanistan Deborah Lyons will continue in her role for the renewed mission.

Russia abstained from voting but the vote passed with 14 votes of the 15 members on the Security Council.

Norway's ambassador to the UN Mona Juul said the resolution that was drafted by Norway gave the UN "a solid mandate to engage with all relevant actors on all aspects of its mandate."

The US deputy chief of mission to the UN Jeffrey DeLaurentis said the vote represents "an important step'' in aiding the Afghan people who are facing "urgent and mutually reinforcing challenges.''

WHY IS AFGHANISTAN IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE?
The UN and other aid agencies have said half of Afghanistan's 38 million people face starvation. The country has known war continuously since 1979.

International aid to Afghanistan dried up after Kabul fell to the Taliban last August as foreign currency reserves held abroad were frozen. Numerous Taliban leaders have been sanctioned by the US and the UN.

The Taliban government is still not recognized by the international community. The fundamentalist group's return to power after nearly 20 years of NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
-backed governments has been marked by a sharp decline in the Central Asian nation's economy.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE UN MISSION TO AFGHANISTAN?
The UN established the mission 20 years ago after the US deposed the Taliban for sheltering al-Qaeda leader the late Osama bin Laden
...... who used to be alive but now he's not......
in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon near Washington D.C.

Priorities for the renewed mission include delivering aid, funding humanitarian activities, protecting human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
and women's rights.

When the Taliban previously ruled Afghanistan in the late 1990s, women were forbidden from working, girls education was banned, and a host of additional prohibitions restricted their public lives, confining them largely to the home.

WHY DID RUSSIA OBJECT TO RENEWING THE AFGHANISTAN ASSISTANCE MISSION?
Russia wanted the 15 members on the Security Council to refer to "de-facto authorities" and mention the need for the host country to approve the UN's presence.

Instead, the resolution mentions "relevant authorities" and nothing is said about the host country's approval.

In refusing the vote, Russia's UN ambassador Vassily Nebenzia called out what he termed the "stubborn ignorance of the new realities" of Taliban control in Afghanistan.

Russia's decision to abstain from voting on the UN Security Council comes as Moscow faces unprecedented geopolitical isolation, a consequence of the brutal invasion of Ukraine it launched on February 24.

#1  what the generous idiots abroad meant to give to the needy Afghan civilians

You really think so? The UN is full of islamics and quasi islamics now, policies and resolutions being decided in favor of them everywhere. The 'generous idiots' may not be idiots at all in fact. Who's to say the Emirate of Afghanistan was not an intended outcome all along? A new training ground for islamic terror with a refugee pipeline straight into the heart of western countries willing to adopt Afghans? There's this new islamophobia resolution now, for enabling islamics to propagate their pre-modern ways in all our cities without being called out. There is some new sympathy with Palestinians and Arabs everyday. March 15 is World Anti-Islamophobia Day now. I don't think this is idiocy. Idiocy is keeping the UN funded.

Yemen Rebels Say No Talks with Govt in Enemy Countries

Yemen's Huthi rebels are not prepared to hold talks with the government in Saudi Arabia or other "enemy countries", an official said Thursday, after a proposal to meet in Riyadh.

The Iran-backed rebels said they were open to finding a peaceful solution to the seven-year war but baulked at travelling to Saudi Arabia, which leads a military coalition fighting on the side of the government.

"We will welcome an invitation to dialogue that does not take place in enemy countries," a Huthi official said on condition of anonymity.

"We will always extend our hand for peace," the official told AFP.

Israeli troops nab 3 Gaza infiltrators armed with knives, flammable liquid
[IsraelTimes] Military says suspects taken for questioning over incident at southern border with the Strip

Three Paleostinians were detained by Israel Defense Force soldiers after trying to infiltrate into southern Israel early Thursday morning, the military said.

The suspects were found to be carrying knives, bottles of gasoline and lighters when they were captured near the southern section of the border, according to the IDF.

The military did not clarify whether the three suspects had successfully passed through the fence at the time of their capture.

The suspects were detained and taken for questioning.

Last month, three Paleostinian men set fire to an empty Israeli truck used for maintenance at the border. In the past, Paleostinians have crossed the border to set fire to empty military posts.

On Sunday and Tuesday, two unarmed Paleostinians separately attempted to cross the border into Israel and were detained, the IDF said.

While Israel has a high-tech series of fences and walls guarding its frontier with Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, both above and below ground, a number of gaps remain in the steel fencing surrounding the Strip.

These gaps have been used by Paleostinians in Gaza to illegally enter Israeli territory, often with hopes of fleeing the beleaguered enclave.

While attacks on Israeli civilians by those infiltrating from Gaza are rare, last May, a Paleostinian man who crossed into Israel armed with several knives attacked and lightly maimed a security guard some five kilometers from the border fence.

#2  "Embarrassing peace deal"?
He wanted to close the deal in the Donbas and createvavlabs bridge across to Crimea. They did that. Ukraine will become a neutral no man's land, and its economy and cities are totally wrecked, as Putin wanted.

#3  and its economy and cities are totally wrecked, as Putin wanted.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the West continued to throw money at Ukraine afterward, for rebuilding. That’s what they’ve been doing for the Palestinians for years.

#4  Yeah, while China Saudi Arabia and India throw money at Putin's Russia. Ukraine will cost the West at least $50 billion a year for another 20 years. Europeans now have to pay to rearm themselves, and rebuild Ukraine, and support 3-4 million destitute Ukrainian refugees.

Russia didn't "swallow a hedgehog." It's the EU that's now digesting a financial hedgehog

#5  Russia has to rebuild a depleted army that did not perform up to expectations, Beldar Darling of the Danes1602, the Ukraine, the heart of the Rus, rejected them to the point of destruction instead of falling gratefully into Russia’s loving arms.

At a time when Russia’s population is falling.

So: a resentful Ukraine not generating profits for Moscow after a very expensive invasion. Both have swallowed hedgehogs, adn probably China will not be nearly as happy with the outcome as they planned, also.

#6  /\ Concur! China is very likely taking a serious re-look at any action on Taiwan. One would assume there existed some sort of military or economic support agreement btwn the two with regards to Russians recent "Special Operation" in the Ukraine. Any support Russia could give China currently, appears to be evaporating.

Flashback: Kissinger's 2014 Washington Post op-ed predicted current mess, offered a wise solution
[FoxNews] Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger essentially predicted the current situation that led to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in a chilling op-ed published eight years ago.

Kissinger penned an op-ed in the Washington Post on March 5, 2014 headlined, "To settle the Ukraine crisis, start at the end," which detailed much of what has unfolded as Russia’s attack continues.

"Public discussion on Ukraine is all about confrontation. But do we know where we are going? In my life, I have seen four wars begun with great enthusiasm and public support, all of which we did not know how to end and from three of which we withdrew unilaterally. The test of policy is how it ends, not how it begins," Kissinger wrote.

"Far too often the Ukrainian issue is posed as a showdown: whether Ukraine joins the East or the West. But if Ukraine is to survive and thrive, it must not be either side’s outpost against the other — it should function as a bridge between them," he continued. "Russia must accept that to try to force Ukraine into a satellite status, and thereby move Russia’s borders again, would doom Moscow to repeat its history of self-fulfilling cycles of reciprocal pressures with Europe and the United States."

The eight-year-old piece detailed why many Russians historically feel that Ukraine would never be seen as an independent country.

"The West must understand that, to Russia, Ukraine can never be just a foreign country. Russian history began in what was called Kievan-Rus. The Russian religion spread from there. Ukraine has been part of Russia for centuries, and their histories were intertwined before then. Some of the most important battles for Russian freedom, starting with the Battle of Polyvana in 1709, we fought on Ukrainian soil," Kissinger who was secretary of state from 1973 to 1977, continued.

Kissinger explained why priorities needed to be established in order for Ukraine to thrive.

"Even such famed dissidents as Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn and Joseph Brodsky insisted that Ukraine was an integral part of Russian history and, indeed, of Russia," he wrote. "The European Union must recognize that its bureaucratic dilatoriness and subordination of the strategic element to domestic politics in negotiating Ukraine’s relationship to Europe contributed to turning a negotiation into a crisis. Foreign policy is the art of establishing priorities."

Kissinger called Ukrainians "the decisive element" because they live in a country with a deep history and a "polyglot composition," noting the Western part of the nation was "incorporated into the Soviet Union in 1939, when Stalin and Hitler divided up the spoils" but the largely Russian section of Crimea didn’t become part of Ukraine until 1954.

"The west is largely Catholic; the east largely Russian Orthodox. The west speaks Ukrainian; the east speaks mostly Russian. Any attempt by one wing of Ukraine to dominate the other — as has been the pattern — would lead eventually to civil war or break up. To treat Ukraine as part of an East-West confrontation would scuttle for decades any prospect to bring Russia and the West — especially Russia and Europe — into a cooperative international system," Kissinger wrote.

Private schools across the country are implementing radical leftist curricula as the nation's leading private school accreditation association has been training teachers through lectures such as "Decolonizing the Minds of Second Graders" and "The White People Way," as shown on footage obtained by Breitbart News.

More than 1,600 private schools nationwide receive accreditation through the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), which also provides training conferences for teachers at member schools.

"The principal professional development conference hosted by NAIS for teachers, The People of Color Conference, was started by 'Educational Diversity/Equity Consultant' and former NAIS Director of Diversity Randolph Carter, who is a self-described Black Panther," Breitbart reported.

Carter is the founder of East Ed, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, according to his LinkedIn. The East Ed's now-defunct website describes him as a "member of the Black Panther Party."

Carter's biography on the East Ed website states that "while at the National Association of Independent Schools, he directed their equity programming and founded two of their signature projects: People of Color Conference and Student Diversity Leadership Conference."

While Carter is no longer at NAIS, he still participates in the People of Color Conference.

In December 2021, a conference session to train NAIS teachers focused on social justice in kindergarten.

"Kindergartners are natural social justice warriors," trainer Traci Allen told teachers, as shown on video obtained by Breitbart.

"And I think if we just build upon the mindset of the kindergartner, that is fantastic, you can get them to do fabulous things in the social justice realm," she said.

In "Decolonizing the Minds of Second Graders," another lecture at the December People of Color Conference, one trainer discusses how she wore a gas mask, goggles and a bulletproof vest as she protested George Floyd's death in Portland.

"It's an ongoing system of power that perpetuates the genocide and repression of indigenous peoples and cultures," the lecturer said in the video from Breitbart. "And so, we are settler colonialists, right? We perpetuate that unless we are indigenous to the land that we are on."

Another session at that conference featured a slide with the title "Burn Sh** down" as a lecturer who identifies as a vice principal tells teachers to "[recognize] when systems are broken and [imagine] something new."

In another talk, titled "The White People Way," a lecturer spoke about critical race theory (CRT) and "white tears."

"In order to recognize that you are experiencing the 'White People Way' pitfall, you can look for signs of white supremacy culture; so seeing things like a focus on perfectionism, a focus on power hoarding, not being willing to share, and a focus on product," she told teachers in the video obtained by Breitbart. "Additionally, you may hear comments about, 'Oh, we need to meet people where they are,' rather than pushing the work further. You may see literal white tears and that can be a tool to disrupt the work. You may also see policing of language and tone, or arguments about semantics — and we are seeing this I think, really strongly nationally with the backlash around CRT, we've seen it with white privilege and with a variety of other terms — arguing about those terms prevents us from moving forward on the work."

Private schools accredited by NAIS are now implementing radical curricula.

"Fourth Grade Black Panther Studies" is now being taught in St. Paul's Episcopal School in Oakland, Calif., according to the school's website.

Breitbart obtained a copy of an "Anti-Discrimination Pledge" from Westminster Schools in Atlanta, Ga.

"On my honor I commit to confronting racism and discrimination by working with my peers and teachers to help create a safe, supportive and respectful environment for everyone," the pledge states, adding: "Along with my community, I will participate in personal education that equips me with the skills to be anti-racist and that empowers this community to be inclusive to all of its members."

Breitbart News obtained the material from "Undercover Mother," which describes itself as a "Mom Collective with children in independent school."

"We circle our young to protect them from the abuse being inflicted by schools and the cartels of the regional and National Association of Independent Schools," the group states.

#6  Yes I read it here at Rantburg first. It's just vile. I can understand the angst of a cultural sub-group against their exploitation to a point. But when that sub-group cannot forgive and forget and needs revenge on a racial level to the point of vileness. Then it means the stereotype is true and the sub-group never deserved any leniency or human treatment in the first place. Or maybe it's to do with the nation of Islam contagion that got into the black power movement early and turned so many black americans against christian America. I'll wager that conservative Christian blacks are all Pro Trump and anti-Democrat and un-woke. #13  Call: Yale Law refuses to condemn students who threatened to fight conservative debater at free speech event:

Response:

Yale Law students tried to shout down a speaker, now a judge says maybe they shouldn't get clerkships

[HotAir] And apparently at least one judge agrees that these students, allegedly the top law students in the country, have crossed a line. DC Circuit Judge Laurence Silberman sent an email to every federal judge in the country suggesting that students involved in last week’s Yale protest might not be suitable candidates for clerkships.

The latest events at Yale Law School, in which students attempted to shout down speakers participating in a panel discussion on free speech, prompt me to suggest that students who are identified as those willing to disrupt any such panel discussion should be noted. All federal judges—and all federal judges are presumably committed to free speech—should carefully consider whether any student so identified should be disqualified from potential clerkships.

IDF troops seize handguns apparently smuggled over Jordan border; 6 arrested nearby
[IsraelTimes] Israeli troops spotted a suspicious man close to the border with Jordan last night, and after searching the area, found a bag with two pistols, the military says.

Six other suspects — allegedly involved in the smuggling attempt — who approached the area in vehicles were also detained, the military says.

The IDF has stepped up efforts to halt smuggling attempts along the Jordanian border in recent months.

IDF, police seize dozens of guns from drug smugglers near Dead Sea

[IsraelTimes] Cops arrest two Bedouin men; law enforcement believes arms were intended for both criminal and terror purposes in West Bank; bust valued at $770,000

Israeli security forces arrested two people suspected of smuggling guns and drugs into Israel from Jordan last week, confiscating a large number of firearms in the process, the military and police announced Thursday.

According to Israel Police, 34 handguns, two assault rifles, a sniper rifle, 16,000 rounds of ammunition and ecstasy pills were found in bags left behind by the two men near the border last Friday.

Soldiers operating surveillance cameras spotted the two suspicious men crossing the border near the Dead Sea, and after a brief chase the smugglers were arrested at the Ha’arava Junction, police said.

Law enforcement officials said the suspects were around 25 years old, from a southern Bedouin town. They were taken for questioning, and their remand is expected to be extended further on Thursday.

Police indicated that the guns were likely to have been sold to Paleostinians in the Hebron area for both criminal and terror purposes.

Officials estimated the value of the guns at some NIS 1.7 million ($525,000), and the drugs at approximately NIS 800,000 ($245,000).

"This confiscation is another success of the cooperation between Israel Police and IDF forces... in preventing the smuggling of illegal weapons over the border, which are suspected to reach terror and criminal elements," police said in a statement.

The IDF has stepped up efforts to halt smuggling attempts along the Jordanian border in recent months.

Last month dozens of firearms apparently smuggled over the Jordan border were seized in separate attempts.

Authorities have increasingly sought to crack down on the spread of illegal weapons in the Arab Israeli community, which have been used to carry out record-breaking numbers of murders in recent years.

According to the Abraham Initiatives, a non-government group lobbying against violence in the Arab community, 125 Arabs — an all-time record — were killed in Israel in 2021 as a result of violence and crime.

US vet jailed in Iran sues for $1 billion, alleges torture
[IsraelTimes] A US Navy veteran who was nabbed
Into the paddy wagon wit' yez!
in Iran
...Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979...
for nearly two years sues the Iranian government for $1 billion, alleging that he was kidnapped, held hostage and tortured.

The federal lawsuit describes in unsparing detail the "prolonged and continuous" abuse that Michael White says he suffered behind bars, including being beaten and punched, whipped on his feet, deprived of food and drink, and pressured to falsely confess that he was a spy for the US government.

"Mr. White endured this trauma for nearly two years, never knowing if or when he would be released and reunited with his family, repeatedly promised that his conditions would improve soon, only to be crushed psychologically when they did not," the lawsuit states.

The allegations in the complaint mirror the claims made by White in a 156-page manuscript that he wrote behind bars and that was later obtained by The News Agency that Dare Not be Named.

The 31-page complaint traces White’s travel to Iran, saying he was lured there in the summer of 2018 by a woman he considered his girlfriend so that he could be kidnapped by Iranian government agents and put in prison. He was charged with insulting Iran’s Lord High Potentate and Supreme Leader of All He Surveys and cooperating with the US government against Iran — charges the lawsuit says were fabricated — and sentenced without a trial to 10 years in prison.

#3  I cannot resist pointing out that it my understanding that the Texas Military Department is employing personnel in a STATE ACTIVE DUTY status, a form of state civil service unique to those who have or have had an affiliation with the Texas National Guard. They are NOT on federal active duty (neither Title 10 or Title 32) and are acting under the authority of Texas Law. The intentional confabulation by those who resist efforts to enforce our border with descriptions about "active duty in the US Armed forces" or so imply, is pure bulllsh*t. Texas is trying to protect its overwhelms border and the influx of hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens because of the criminal disregard of the Biden Administration and DHS to enforce existing law. Beto is merely the latest dishonest demokrat politician trying to sabotage border sovereignty! Management problems, payroll, are exclusively a Texas government proble, and no one is compelled to accept a State Active Duty status, it is uniquely voluntary.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Briefly about Ukraine. 03/17/2022
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin.

[ColonelCassad] 1. Mariupol. The cleansing of the city continues successfully. The advanced units reach the central regions, the enemy is gradually pushed back to Azovstal. The exit of civilians continues from the city. The military on the ground are talking about the timeframe for the liberation of Mariupol - four to seven days.

2. Ugledar. The settlement has not yet been officially taken, but to the north of it the troops are already advancing towards Bogoyavlenka, with a subsequent movement towards Kurakhovo. Prechistovka was taken from the west of Ugledar, which creates the prerequisites both for moving north and for a turn to Velikaya Novoselka.

3. Maryinka-Avdeevka. There are no major advances yet. It is impossible to overcome the powerful fortified areas of the enemy from a swoop. Aviation and artillery are trying to make the task easier, but so far the cumulative effect of multi-day strikes has not yet been achieved.

4. Gorlovka. Novotoretskoye remained with the DPR. Counterattacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the aim of returning the village were repulsed. Tomorrow, perhaps, advancement will begin either towards Novoselka-2, or in the direction of New York.

5. LPR. They took Rubizhne, the enemy withdrew to Severodonetsk, where stubborn street fighting continues. Lisichansk is not yet actively stormed. The liberation of these cities is a matter of time. Fighting continues in the western part of Popasna, the city is not yet completely controlled by the LPR, the enemy stubbornly clings to it.

6. Kharkov. Active fighting east of the city. There is no information confirming the occupation of even part of Chuguev by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. In Izyum, the enemy continues to defend in the southern part of the city and is trying to unblock the road in the Kamenka area, where fighting is taking place near the Izyum-Slavyansk highway. The front from the north is gradually shifting towards Slavyansk.

7. Kyiv. Attempts by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to be active on the Vyshgorod-Gostomel-Bucha line ended in serious losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in people and equipment. There was no serious counteroffensive. It is noted that the western grouping of the RF Armed Forces continues to methodically put pressure on the south, trying to get out and gain a foothold in the Vasilkov area. In the east, Ukrainian sources report that the RF Armed Forces have occupied several villages on the outskirts of Brovary. From our side, there is no confirmation of this yet.

8. Sumy and Chernigov. No major changes.

9. Nikolaev. Fighting north of the city. The city itself is blocked from three sides, but there is no assault. The transfer of reinforcements for the RF Armed Forces through Kherson is noted. The Armed Forces of Ukraine expect the activation of operations of the RF Armed Forces in this area in the coming days.

10. Odessa. Ships of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation work on targets on the coast, complementing the work of aviation. Landing events are not carried out, but the enemy is forced to keep serious forces here, fearing to miss the moment of the exhibition. The Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, having won complete dominance at sea, is now playing a fettering role, forcing the enemy to keep troops near Odessa that would be useful in the area of Nikolaev or Krivoy Rog.

Entered India paying Rs 4k, got funding from Kolkata to set up MP module: JMB terrorists
[OneIndia] Earlier this week, the Madhya Pradesh ATS arrested four Lions of Islam of the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen (Bangladesh) They were arrested in connection with the Bodhgaya blasts.

The arrested were identified as Fazhar Ali alias Mehmood (32), Mohammad Aqeel alias Ahmed (24), Zahooruddin alias Ibrahim (28) and Fazhar Zainul Abdeen alias Akram Al Hasan (25).

During the probe, the ATS learnt that three out of the four JMB operatives had paid middlemen Rs 4,000 to enter India. After entering India, they stayed at West Bengal and then moved to Assam and Uttar Pradesh before entering Madhya Pradesh.

Another angle that came to light was that they were receiving funds from Kolkata. While it is not clear where exactly in Kolkata the funds were coming from, an official tells OneIndia that they would probe this matter.

The police said that these persons were arrested from a building located near the Fatima Mosque in Bhopal. "These Lions of Islam were living as tenants in Bhopal and they were making a team of a remote-based sleeper cell to execute their terrorist activities. On the basis of inputs, a search operation was carried out and four Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested," the police said.

In recent times there have been several arrests of illegal immigrants colonists colonists from Bangladesh who have entered the country through West Bengal.

Back in 2012, the Intelligence Bureau had reported that the issue was catching up like wildfire in the states of West Bengal, Kerala, Telangana (then AP) and Karnataka. The report stated that there are all sorts of people. Many are here in search of a livelihood, but then there are many who indulge in illegal activities such as smuggling as drugs and sometimes arms.

They come into the country through West Bengal and gradually move into other parts of the country.

While touts and middlemen help them with documents, there are others who take advantage of their poor living conditions and lure them with money in order to carry out illegal activities.

#1  Kolkata is our Chicago. It's the capital of the State of West Bengal which is a near impregnable commie-islamist bastion. And the leadership routinely allows for radical bangladeshis to be imported via the eastern border much like your Mexico.

But they're not needed in leftist states, they're needed in right-wing territory, where the enemy demands that damage be caused. So, they made their way into Bhopal, which is a town in Madhya Pradesh or MP. And that's as right-wing as a man high on weed, dressed only in ash and armed with a goddamn trident.

Disney employees busted near Orlando in child trafficking sting just days after CEO opposed anti-grooming law
[PostMillennial] The Sheriff of Polk County held a press conference on Wednesday talking about the culmination of a massive sting operation which lead to 108 arrests being made, including employees of FunSpot and Disney.

The Sheriff of Polk County held a press conference on Wednesday talking about the culmination of a massive sting operation which lead to 108 arrests being made, including four Disney employees.

This announcement comes after on March 9, just days ago, the CEO of Disney loudly and publicly opposed Florida's new "anti-grooming" law, which, according to polls, is supported by over 60 percent of Americans.

The so-named "Operation March Sadness Two" was a multi-agency effort centered around Florida's Polk County, which lies just southwest of the Orlando urban area, and is a highly touristic area.

According to local area news, people included among those 108 who have been arrested "include a retired judge from Illinois, a few restaurant managers, a man who works at FunSpot and several who work at Disney."

People arrested were as young as 17 years old, and as old as 67. Most of them are now facing charges of soliciting a prostitute, but further charges may be laid in certain cases, as the case may be.

Sheriff Grady Judd during his press conference particularly highlighted the case of the 27-year-old Xavier Jackson of Kissimmee Florida, who was one of the people caught in the operation, and "just happens to be a lifeguard at the Polynesian Resort for Disney."

Jackson is accused of sending explicit photos to someone who he thought was only 14 years old.

The new Florida bill makes it easier for authorities to act against "grooming" behavior in which children are inappropriately sexualized. It has been named the "don't say gay" bill by its detrectors, but also enjoys wide support from people on both sides of the political aisle.

#4  I think every Disney employee going through an FDLE background check at company expense would be a great thing about now. It would give the C-suite something to attend to besides the education of other people's children.

#7  Pedos are drawn to professions with access to children. Nobody should be surprised, especially when Disney became woke and probably avoided asking their employees questions that might be judgy.

#12  They sure came down weird and hard against the "Don't Rape Children" bill.

I have no doubt that none of them got farther than “The evil Republicans are pushing through a ‘Don’t say gay’ bill! Reeeeeeee!!” and never actually read the text of the bill at all.

It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...

Two mass graves identified in Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The New York Times interviewed over the past several months four Syrian men who worked at or near secret mass graves, which led to an examination of satellite images.

Together, those clues revealed the locations of two sites where each one holds thousands of bodies of Syrians killed in detention centers administered by the Syrian government during the war.

They could also contain powerful evidence of war crimes committed by the government security forces, according to human rights groups, including the systematic torture and the killing of detainees.

To draw attention to those atrocities, the Syrian Emergency Task Force, an advocacy group, brought one of the men interviewed by The New York Times to Washington this week to speak with members of Congress and others about the mass graves.
