Canada To Trudeau - 'It's Not Us, It's You!'
It's so sad to see the fairy tale prime ministership come to a screeching halt...

[WaPo] - OTTAWA ‐ Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau no longer looks invincible.

After showing a steady lead in public opinion surveys for more than two years after his surprise October 2015 election victory, Trudeau appears to be politically vulnerable. And that’s despite a buoyant economy, what’s seen as a steady hand in NAFTA trade talks with President Trump, and a weak political opposition.

"All of a sudden, we saw this drop," said David Coletto, chief executive of Abacus Data, an Ottawa polling firm, referring to his company’s latest poll, completed in early March. "It’s the first time since Trudeau became prime minister that we have results showing the Conservatives slightly ahead."

Question for the 'Burg - Trump Effect in play here, or is Justin just that lame?

Yes, but mostly the 'Trump Effect' means that the usual apologists are so busy worrying about Trump that they can't spare any energy to flack for Trudeau.

Hillary Clinton fires back at critics: No one told a man who lost an election to shut up
You go, girl! Keep yapping! 2020!
Hillary Clinton is striking back at critics telling her to "shut up" following her 2016 loss, saying, "They never said that to any man who was not elected."

"I was really struck by how people said that to me ‐ you know, mostly people in the press, for whatever reason ‐ mostly, ‘Go away, go away,'" Clinton said Thursday during an event at Rutgers University.

"And I had one of the young people who works for me go back and do a bit of research. They never said that to any man who was not elected. I was kind of struck by that," Clinton said.

Clinton's remarks came in response to a question from Eagleton Institute of Politics' director Ruth Mandel about the former Democratic presidential nominee's reaction to those who say she should "get off the public stage and shut up."

"I'm really glad that, you know, Al Gore didn't stop talking about climate change," Clinton said to applause.

"And I'm really glad John Kerry went to the Senate and became an excellent secretary of State," the former first lady continued. "And I'm really glad John McCain kept speaking out and standing up and saying what he had to say. And for heavens sakes, Mitt Romney is running for the Senate," Clinton said.
NOT great examples, Hon

Looking Back at the Democratic Hysteria Over Trump's Tax Cuts
[Manhattan Institute] It wasn't doomsday and the sky wasn't actually falling.

As all doomsday cults eventually learn, you can predict the end of the world only so many times before everybody stops listening to you.

We were told that repealing net neutrality would bring the "end of the internet as we know it." Pulling out of the Paris Climate Agreement was supposed to kill the final chance to truly combat global warming (or climate change, or whatever it's called this week). The confirmation of Betsy DeVos as Education secretary was going to bring about the end of public education in America.

And yet the internet is not shutting down; the Paris Climate Agreement was exposed as virtually irrelevant to global temperatures; and America's public schools look basically the same as they did back in 2015.

To this list of failed doomsday predictions, we can now add the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), which modernized the corporate tax code and gave tax relief to the vast majority of families.

The TCJA certainly has its flaws‐I gave it only a B-, primarily due to deficit concerns‐yet many of the plan's partisan critics exaggerated its potential downside to such a degree as to be genuinely misleading. And now that families are seeing how the new law actually affects them, most of them support the cuts.

Why It's Good News That McMaster Is Out and Bolton Is In
h/t Instapundit
The Left is in hysterics over John Bolton replacing H.R. McMaster as President Trump’s national security adviser: He will start a war with Iran! He once wrote a foreword for a book written by Pamela Geller and me! He is a right-wing extremist! Back in the real world, however, Bolton replacing McMaster is a victory for realistic analysis of the jihad threat, and a defeat for the fantasy-based policymaking that has prevailed throughout the Bush and Obama eras, and beyond.

McMaster has insisted: "The Islamic State is not Islamic."

...In February 2017, according to CNN, "at an all-hands meeting of the National Security Council," McMaster "said jihadist terrorists aren’t true to their professed religion and that the use of the phrase ’radical Islamic terrorism’ doesn’t help the U.S. in working with allies to defeat terrorist groups."

...McMaster’s pollyannish views were a holdover from the Obama regime, which established fantasies about Islam having nothing to do with terrorism as the official policy of the U.S. government. This was in contrast to President Trump, who repeatedly criticized his predecessor (and his 2016 election opponent) for not being willing to call the problem of jihad terror by its right name.

...You cannot defeat an enemy that you don’t understand, much less refuse to understand. We can only hope that this change will lead to a more realistic appraisal of the jihad threat.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Hollywood Made a Great Movie About a Kennedy Tragedy Homicide
[Townhall] Conservatives’ expectations for honest and fair movies coming out of Hollywood are understandably low. For decades now we have been brow-beaten and lectured by clueless celebrities on everything from saving the Spotted Owl to gun control ‐ the latest flavor of the moment.

But a breath of fresh air is blowing in from the left coast. The new movie ’Chappaquiddick,’ from Entertainment Studios and Apex Entertainment, is a brutally honest recounting of one of America’s greatest public tragedies homicides: the death of Mary Jo Kopechne in a car owned and driven by Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.)

Producer Mark Ciardi has a winner, and perhaps it’s his record of brilliantly telling true sports stories (Invincible, The Rookie,Miracle, and Secretariat) that so influenced a talented group of director and actors ‐ liberals all ‐ to buy into a straight-up, no spin or bias, telling of this story. As one might expect, longtime Ted Kennedy senior aide and speechwriter Bob Shrum, trashed the movie (likely without even seeing it) as "a disservice both to the victim and the truth." On the contrary, the movie is a revelation of truth exposing the decades-long cover-up that Shrum, and other defenders of the Kennedy faith, have long perpetuated.

Hillary! Sports Arm Cast At Rutgers Speech
You would think all of these recent public accidents would have intelligent people tell Hillary to retire or that she would realize it herself. The only logical explanation to me - she's a fucking bonkers psychopath.
[Daily Caller] - Hillary Clinton, plagued by rumors of poor health during her presidential campaign, showed up for a Thursday speech at Rutgers University with a cast on her arm.

Clinton broke her wrist during her recent trip to India when she slipped and fell in a bathtub. While on that trip, she asserted that Trump supporters want to take rights away from black people and that female Trump voters were influenced by their husbands and bosses.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Report: Israeli stealth fighters fly over Iran
True? Bluff? Who knows, but it does twist turbans and the Mad Mullahs lose face
[Jpost] Two Israeli F-35 fighter jets entered Iranian airspace over the past month, Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida reported on Thursday. The act is a signal of heightened regional tensions, especially in light of recent Israeli military attacks in Syria, including against Iranian bases in the country.

Sources quoted in Al-Jarida stated that two stealth fighters flew over Syrian and Iraqi airspace to reach Iran, and even targeted locations in the Iranian cities Bandar Abbas, Esfahan and Shiraz.

The report states that the two fighter jets, among the most advanced in the world, circled at high altitude above Persian Gulf sites suspected of being associated with the Iranian nuclear program.

It also states that the two jets went undetected by radar, including by the Russian radar system located in Syria. The source refused to confirm if the operation was undertaken in coordination with the US army, which has recently conducted joint exercises with the IDF.

The source added that the seven F-35 fighters in active service in the IAF have conducted a number of missions in Syria and on the Lebanese-Syrian border. He underlined that the fighter jets can travel from Israel to Iran twice without refueling.

#1  Seen in google searches:
No ferry range figure was ever published for any F-35 variant. What has been published is various range requirements by plane’s users, USAF, USN and so on. What they state is that the plane has X range while carrying Y set of weaponry on a very specific altitude path at specific speeds with a very specific excess fuel reserved for maneuvering. Of course, all these specifics are classified. What we do know is that a strike mission USAF needs allows F35A to cover 600 nm. In pure air to air mission, the same F35A can cover 750 nm.

All that suggests F-35A has potential ferry range of some 1600 nm, possibly even 1700nm.

Jerusalem to Bandar Abbas 1305 miles
Jerusalem to Esfahan 963 miles
Jerusalem to Shiraz 1040 miles

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
6 Gazans said killed, 500 wounded amid massive border protests
[IsraelTimes] And Hamas Leaders are "leading from behind", I'm sure
Six Palestinians were killed and some 500 were wounded by Israeli rubber bullets and live fire in the Gaza Strip on Friday, as a series of massive protests intensified along the security fence surrounding the Hamas-controlled enclave, Palestinian sources said. Five were reported killed in escalating violence, hours after a Gaza man was killed at the border in disputed circumstances.

The Israel Defense Forces estimated that 17,000 Palestinians were taking part
500/17,000=34. So one in 34 are more or less badly injured on the first day, probably most by being hit with things thrown by others in the crowd. It will be interesting to see how long the enthusiasm lasts.
in "March of Return" demonstrations along the Gaza border, focused at five main protest sites where rioters threw petrol bombs and stones at troops, and burned tires.

The IDF did not confirm the Hamas death toll figures. In a statement reported by Israeli Kan TV, the army said organizers of the protests were deliberately trying to place civilians in harm's way, and cited an incident in which it said a seven-year-old girl was sent to the security fence in an apparent cynical attempt to draw Israeli fire, but was spotted by troops who realized what was happening and ensured she was not hurt

The Hamas-run Gaza health ministry reported that five men were killed during the mass protests along the border. Some 500 Gazans were injured as of 3:00 p.m., with most of the injuries being caused by rubber bullets and tear gas. A smaller number were hit by live fire.

The army confirmed that soldiers had shot at “main instigators.” It said some protesters were lighting tires on fire and throwing Molotov cocktails and rocks at IDF troops on the other side of the border. The military maintained that it would not allow Palestinian protesters to “violate Israel’s sovereignty” by crossing the security fence.

The main sites for protests in Gaza were Rafah and Khan Younis in the south, el-Bureij and Gaza City in the center, and Jabalya in the northern portion of the coastal enclave.

Early Friday morning, a Palestinian farmer was killed by Israeli tank fire near Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, the Hamas-run health ministry said. Witnesses said he was working his land near the border when the shells hit, but Hadashot news reported that the army suspected the man had been trying to place an improvised explosive device near the security fence.
He was growing IEDs from Iranian seeds

I really don't understand why we bother dealing with these people. They HAD a country in 1948. They lost it not to the Israelis but to Jordan. That's who they should be blaming and attacking. The only reason they lost the rest is because they were moronic enough to attack Israel and try to destroy it.

AARP accused of hard-sell marketing practices like those it warns seniors about
[McClatchy Report] In its newsletters and magazines, in congressional testimony and on its website, AARP warns seniors about deceptive direct mail and other dubious marketing come-ons as part of its mission to protect members from financial abuses.

But the huge lobbying group’s own aggressive efforts to coax seniors to join or renew their memberships also have drawn a burst of criticism this year.

Angry members say AARP’s barrage of solicitation letters and social media posts can mislead or confuse aging consumers, some of whom struggle with memory and managing their financial affairs. Hundreds have complained about getting false warnings that their memberships would soon expire, and at least some people have unwittingly paid for duplicate memberships.

The critics include Kathy Portie, senior editor of the Big Bear Grizzly weekly newspaper in Southern California. In January, she received a sponsored post from AARP in her Facebook feed that read: "Your membership is about to expire. ... ACT FAST ‐ Time is running out."

Her terse reply, mirroring the grievances of dozens of others who received the same post, was, "No it’s not. It is valid through 2020. So stop it."

Wendi Fein fumes about the experience of her octogenarian parents, Ruth and Richard Schwartz. She said the two, who live in Nevada City, Calif., have cognitive issues but, like many in their generation, pay their bills promptly without asking questions.

Column One: Time to end demographic fear-mongering
[Jpost] On Monday morning, the Deputy Coordinator for Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) Brig.-Gen. Guy Goldstein and the deputy head of the Civil Administration in Judea and Samaria, Col. Uri Mandes, shocked members of the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee when Mandes claimed that there are three million Palestinians living in Judea and Samaria today.

Committee chairman Avi Dichter noted that if their numbers are true, then the Palestinian population has tripled in 25 years. Absent mass immigration ‐ and the PA has experienced net emigration for the past 23 years ‐ there is no way that could have happened. As Dichter said, if their numbers are true, the Guinness Book of World Records needs to be alerted.

Mandes wasn’t done. He said there are two million Palestinians in Gaza. Added together with Israel’s 1.8 million Arab citizens, if Mandes’s numbers are accurate, then there is population parity between Jews and Arabs west of the Jordan River.

Mandes acknowledged that the Civil Administration in Judea and Samaria (which COGAT oversees) isn’t the source of his data. The Palestinian Authority is the source.

What Mandes failed to acknowledge is that the PA’s demographic data was exposed as fraudulent 13 years ago. In late 2004, the American-Israel Demographic Research Group (AIDRG), an independent team of American and Israeli researchers, published an in-depth assessment of the PA’s population numbers.

But that’s the thing. His numbers are inaccurate.
And, in any case, as any student of history knows - such problems are solvable. Ask the Germans of the Sudetes, or the 13+ million Russians who lived in the republics before the collapse of Soviet Union.

McCaskill: ‘It Would Be Terrific' if Obama Campaigned Across the U.S.
[Freebeacon] Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill, who is up for reelection in Missouri in November, said Wednesday that it would be "terrific" if former President Barack Obama campaigned across the country this year.

McCaskill told reporters in Kansas City that she does not know whether Obama will agree to campaign for anyone, but then encouraged him to do so.
"I think it would be terrific if he worked and campaigned around the country for a variety of candidates," she said, according to the Kansas City Star. "If he wants to come here and campaign, I would never turn down a previous president."

McCaskill's comments came after reports publicized that Obama will headline a Beverly Hills fundraiser for McCaskill in May.

"He offered and this works for his schedule. And I think whenever a former president offers to help you, it's important to say yes," McCaskill said.

The senator is fighting for reelection in a state that President Donald Trump carried by 19 points in 2016. McCaskill's main Republican challenger, Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley, has attacked McCaskill for her perceived closeness to Obama.

Hamas to Swarm Israel's Border, Sparking Fear of New ‘Passover War'
[Freebeacon] The Palestinian terrorist group Hamas is planning a mass demonstration along Israel's border on Friday, prompting fears of a new war with the Jewish state ahead of the Passover holiday, according to regional experts and U.S. officials who say they are closely monitoring the situation.

On the heels of a recent military exercise that observers described as "unprecedented," Hamas leaders have called for some 100,000 Gaza Strip resident to engage in six weeks of mass demonstrations along the Israeli border as Jewish families gear up for the Passover holiday, which begins Friday evening.

Regional experts closely tracking the situation say the demonstrations are meant as cover for a mass military campaign to swarm Israel's border and stoke violence against the Jewish state.

Man Convicted of Murdering Four Children to Sell Ears to Sangoma
[Breitbart] A judge in South Africa sentenced a man to four life sentences in prison on Tuesday for the murder of his nieces and nephews ‐ whose ears, he confessed, he planned to sell at a high price to a witch doctor for use in potions.

Southern African countries have spent much of the last decade fighting violence fueled by witch doctor, or traditional herbalist, demands for body parts to use in their ceremonies and potions. In nations like Tanzania and Malawi, the body parts of albino people can fetch as much as $75,000 for a whole body, according to United Nations studies. Tanzania has the largest albino population on the continent.

In South Africa, 32-year-old Ben Zimele Mbhele pleaded guilty to killing his two nieces and two nephews, aged between four and 12, last year after meeting a man who told him that the children’s ears would sell at a high price to a witch doctor that he knew. Mbhele reportedly told police initially that he had to kill the children because they "were haunting him and that it was a satanic act," according to South Africa’s the Times. His story changed when the court found that Mbhele took out a life insurance policy on the four children shortly before they were found dead, and collected 60,000 South African rand (about $5,000) total on the four children.

Nine soldiers, five militants killed in attack on elite Yemeni force
[DAWN] Suspected Al Qaeda bandidos snuffies attacked a military checkpoint in southeastern Yemen, killing at least nine soldiers from a local force backed by a member of the Saudi-led coalition fighting in the country, an official said on Thursday.

The official said that five suspected bandidos snuffies also died during the gun attack late on Wednesday outside al-Mukala, the Hadramout

The unit was set up and trained by the United Arab Emirates, as part of a strategy to combat Al Qaeda, which had exploited a three-year civil war and tried to expand its control in the area before they were driven out.

Hisham al-Jaberi, a local military commander, said at least four other soldiers from the Hadrami Elite Forces were also maimed in the attack in an area called Wadi Hajar.

Missing varsity girl found strangled after assault
[DAWN] The body of a girl who had gone missing earlier this week was found in a canal on Wednesday.

According to a doctor at the hospital where autopsy was conducted, she was subjected to rape and violence before being strangled to death. The victim was a student of English literature at the Government College University, Faisalabad
...formerly known as Lyallpur, the third largest metropolis in Pakistain, the second largest in Punjab after Lahore. It is named after some Arab because the Paks didn't have anybody notable of their own to name it after...
Ali, the girl’s father, told the media on Thursday that his daughter had left the university after attending her classes, but did not return home.

"I and my relatives got worried and launched a search for her, but to no avail. I then approached Gulberg police for registration of a case, but the SHO not only refused to entertain my application but also used objectionable language.

"I then sought assistance from City Police Officer Athar Ismail. But the CPO neither bothered to take action against the SHO nor ensured registration of a case," Ali said, overcome with emotion while recalling his helplessness.

The girl’s father quoted eyewitnesses as saying they had seen some people bundling her into a car near the university.

Ali said he suspected some university students’ involvement in the crime.

Her class fellows remembered her as an intelligent, simple and reserved person. They said police could have saved the victim by tracing her mobile phone location and call data, besides using footage of the CCTV camera installed on roads leading to the university.

A senior police officer said on Thursday a murder case had been initially registered against unidentified persons by police on the complaint of a police volunteer. Claiming that the culprits would be "nabbed soon", he said police would investigate why the case was not registered by Gulberg police when the father approached them.

Suspension
The CPO has suspended the Gulberg SHO over the delay in registration of the case. A departmental probe into the incident has also been initiated against him.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif
...Pak dynastic politician, brother of PM Nawaz Sharif, chief minister of Punjab...
has sought a report on the matter.

The CPO has formed two teams to trace and arrest the culprits.

Mystery of Civil War sub's sinking may be solved
The wreck of the Hunley was discovered in 1995, approximately 300 meters (984 ft) from the remains of the Housatonic, and was subsequently raised in 2000. The 40-ft (12-m) submarine was almost entirely intact, and the skeletons of all eight crew members were still located along a hand crank that was used to propel it. The men hadn't operated the bilge pumps or opened the topside air hatches, which doesn't seem to be in keeping with the theory that they died from drowning or suffocation. Instead, Lance thinks that they were killed by the shockwave from the explosion that sank the Housatonic.

The Hunley didn't shoot out self-propelled torpedoes like a modern sub, but instead carried a copper keg of gunpowder on a 16-ft (4.9-m) pole out in front of itself. The idea was that it would ram ships with that keg, hitting them below the waterline. Unfortunately for the sub's crew, this placed them perilously close to the blast zone.
Posted by: 3dc || 03/30/2018 00:46 || Comments || Link || E-Mail|| [11152 views] Top|| File under:

#1  ...The problem with Dr Lance's theory is that - you'll pardon the expression - it doesn't hold water. The Hunley showed a blue signal light from more than a mile further out to sea almost an hour AFTER Housatonic went down - this is confirmed by both Federal and Confederate records. They would obviously have been unable to do so had they been killed when Housatonic's mag exploded. That explosion more likely opened up the seams in her ballast tanks and she went down from a combination of progressive flooding and errors by an anoxic, hypothermic crew.

As far as why the crew was found at their stations, keep in mind Hunley was less than four feet wide and the crew was seated on either side of the crank - on their side and flooding, there was nowhere TO go. And finally, there was no indication of them.trying to open the hatch because at thirty feet down, it was physically impossible to do so.

Dr Lance's work is important and crucial to understanding what happened to the Hunley - I simply feel she drew the wrong conclusions.

#2  Sorry, Mike. She was 300 feet from the wreck of the Housatonic not a mile away and there was no evidence of efforts to escape or movement of the crew from their posts. The blue lamp is not conclusive either that could have been from any ship at sea. The concussion could have killed the crew and they would have died instantly. Massive internal hemorrhaging.

#3  Roth,

Thanks for your comments if I may, let me address them.

*One reason it took so long to find Hunley is that everybody kept looking for her close to the Housatonic. That in turn was because salvage divers just after the Civil War said they saw her next to the cruiser and looked inside - patently untrue. Had that been the case, she would have been found during the salvage work that was done to clear Housatonic's wreck. Instead it appears her skipper let her drift with the ebb tide so as to get away from the USN ships converging on the 'flaming datum'. The official Hunley website (www.hunley.org) states that the wreck was discovered about four miles off the coast of Sullivan's Island, and as Housatonic was just three nautical miles offshore, that is consistent with a drift of approximately 1 kt/hr.

*A lamp was located in the wreck, and although it does not have a blue lens, some pyrotechnic mixtures from that time burn with a distinct blue glow. Although it must be regarded as possible that the lamp seen was from another vessel, it should be pointed out that the USN records of that night do not account for any vessels further out, and nor do CSA records.

*The Hunley's hull is extremely cramped - less than four feet across, and the crew would have been seated along each side, facing one another. Escape under the best possible conditions was problematic (see accounts of her first sinking at FT Johnson across from FT Sumter) and submerged at night would have been flatly impossible. Water pressure would have kept the hatches closed no matter how hard the crew tried to push them open. In addition, when the Hunley impacted the bottom, she was likely under power and skidded/rolled onto her side in the position she was found. Since her ballast tank bulkheads didn't extend to the top of the hull, this means water would have immediately started to pour in from the bow and stern, submerging the port side crew at once, and the starboard side crew - at this point hanging down over the crank - would have had little time or chance to go anywhere.

*Massive internal hemorrhage is absolutely a side effect of a shockwave caused by a nearby explosion. I had the honor to serve for twenty years as a USAF Munitions Maintenance Supervisor and am familiar with the type of damage shockwave can cause. However, the kind of shockwave that would have killed the Hunley's crew would also have probably sank her on the spot - but we know it did not. Without question, her crew would have been at best badly rattled and at worst seriously injured. I believe, and detail in my book The Long Patrol, that Hunley instead was essentally snapped like a whip, opening the seams on the ballast tanks fore and aft. This would not have sunk them outright, but instead would have doomed the boat to a death of a thousand cuts. They submerged her to get away from the attack site, drifted approximately a mile, then partially surfaced to show the signal light. Submerging again, this time they compromised her already damaged buoyancy beyond help, and were sinking as they headed back towards Sullivan's Island. The crew was desperately tired, malnourished, anoxic, hypothermic, and likely suffering from respiratory problems, and all of that combined to put them into a corner they couldn't escape.

*The boat did have a snorkel, but it was not used often and in fact may not have worked well at all. With Hunley on her side, the bilge pumps would have been effectively useless, as the ballast tanks would no longer be upright, and no matter how hard they worked them, it would have made no difference.

I don't claim to have the final, absolute, no-kidding answer. And I definitely don't claim to be an expert, as it has been my experience that calling one's self an expert is generally the fastest way available to find out just how much you don't know about a subject. I am an enthusiastic amateur who did what I believe to be solid research and came up with an answer that I believe is the most technically possible and which fits all the facts as we know them.'

Respectfully,

Mike

China-Japan-Koreas
Rodong Sinmun Calls for Standing up for International Justice
[KCNAWATCH.CO] -- Rodong Sinmun Thursday stresses in an article that it is a contemporary task and common duty of each country and nation to struggle for genuine international justice.

The imperialists are describing their interference in other countries' internal affairs and invasion of them as "just actions" for "combating terrorists", "championing human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
" and "ensuring peace", the article says, and goes on:

"War on terrorism" touted by the imperialists as one for "ensuring world peace and stability" is nothing but a state-sponsored terrorist act against anti-U.S. independent countries, an act for new war of aggression.

The imperialists often find fault with "human rights situation" in other countries while styling themselves an "international human rights judge". This is little short of an artifice for justifying their interference in internal affairs of independent countries standing against imperialism, and pressure, invasion and moves for toppling their regimes.

Typical of such acts are the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq perpetrated under the pretext of "anti-terrorism" and "protection of human rights".

If the imperialists and hegemonic forces are allowed to perpetrate hooliganism under the mask of "justice", the world will turn into a lawless land where injustice overwhelms justice and invasion and war are rampant.

What matters is that the United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
, which claims standing up for international justice in name, is being abused by specified countries for attaining their unreasonable purpose.

If the UN fails to set right the present abnormal situation in which high-handed and arbitrary practices by a specified state prevail and double-standards are openly connived at and allowed, it will be reduced to a nominal body and this will hinder the establishment of a fresh and fair international order. That's why a lot of member states of the UN are struggling for its reform.

Saudi Arabia intercepts ballistic missile fired by Houthis on Jazan
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Saudi air defense intercepted, late Thursday, a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
Militia on Jazan and managed to destroy the missile before hitting any targets.

On Wednesday, the Security Council strongly condemned the launching of the missiles by the militias on Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
The Security Council affirmed that the ballistic missiles launched by the Houthi militias threaten the security of the region and expressed the concern that the militias announced their intention to target Saudi Arabia and other countries.

It urged that all member States implement fully the arms embargo as required by Security Council resolutions, including resolution 2216.

The security Council members expressed their deep concern over the violation of the embargo.

Saudi Arabia's air defense forces blocked 104 ballistic missiles fired by the Iran-backed Houthi militias against the kingdom since the dawn of June 6, 2015 when a Scud missile was destroyed by the Saudi Patriot defense system, in addition to seven ballistic missiles which were launched this week on a number of Saudi cities.

The missiles were monitored and intercepted while in air.

Colonel Turki al-Maliki's statement
Colonel Turki al-Maliki, the spokesperson of the Arab coalition forces said that at exactly 9:35 PM on Thursday, Saudi Royal Air Force intercepted a ballistic missile launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militias from within the territory of Yemen’s Saada towards Saudi Arabia’s territory.

Al-Maliki stated that the missile was heading in the direction Jazan city and was launched in a deliberate way to target civilian and populated areas.

"This hostile act by the Iranian-backed Houthi militias proves that the Iranian regime continues to support the Houthis with wide-ranging armaments in clear and explicit defiance of the UN resolution 2216 and resolution 2231, and aims at threatening the security of Saudi Arabia as well as regional security," he said.

The firing of ballistic missiles towards densely populated cities and villages is a violation of the international humanitarian law," he added.

Brutal battle between ISIS and rebels in Daraa sees heavy all-round losses

According to a report from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), both ISIS and the Free Syrian Army suffered considerable losses to their ranks in the battle that was.

The SOHR report added that rebel fighters managed to capture an Islamic State field commander whom they promptly beheaded ‐ the severed head was then hung in the Jaleen housing area near ISIS-lines for display.

Olde Tyme Religion
Pope Francis: 'There Is No Hell'
[CNSNEWS] (To be sung through the nose:)

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace, you

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine there's nothing as important as you, nearly as important as me. Good and evil are constructs, so fighting one and aspiring to the other are pointless. Live your life like a sea slug, never try the air. You're born, you procreate, perhaps depending on which gender you've chosen, and you die. Your life is no more important than the spermatozoon that that swam through its briny deep and conceived you, and less productive, because it (or one of millions of them) found an egg.

Footnote: In a statement released on Mar. 29, after Scalfari's report garnered worldwide attention, the Vatican said:

"The Holy Father Francis recently received the founder of the newspaper La Repubblica in a private meeting on the occasion of Easter, without however giving him any interviews. What is reported by the author in today’s article [in La Repubblica] is the result of his reconstruction, in which the textual words pronounced by the Pope are not quoted. No quotation of the aforementioned article must therefore be considered as a faithful transcription of the words of the Holy Father."

Protesters Demand Chicago Strips Police Of Millions, Give To Black Students
[Daily Caller] Protesters occupied Chicago’s city hall Wednesday and demanded that the city strip police of millions of dollars and give the funding instead to black students.

The protesters, who belong to #NoCopAcademy, are suing Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel for not disclosing emails concerning the construction of a $95 million police and fire training center, reported Chicago Tribune.

"Rahm supports schools and resources for cops, not for Black and Brown kids," the activists say in their mission statement. "We demand a redirecting of this $95 million into Chicago’s most marginalized communities instead. Real community safety comes from fully-funded schools and mental health centers, robust after-school and job-training programs, and social and economic justice. We want investment in our communities, not expanded resources for police."

"Back up, back up, we want freedom, freedom," the protesters chanted. "All these racist a** cops, we don’t need ’em, need ’em."

Two senior Islamic State members arrested in operation, south of Mosul

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Security troops have arrested two senior Islamic State members in a security operation, south of Mosul, a source from Nineveh was quoted saying on Thursday.

Speaking to AlSumaria News, the source said, “joint troops managed, in an operation, to arrest Wali (governor) of Mosul and Wali of Qayyarah in an operation carried out in al-Mahana village.”

The militants, according to the source, “were in a meeting in the village when they were arrested.”

Iraqi military denies news on killing five security personnel in Mosul

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi military has denied news on killing of five Iraqi soldiers in an ambush set up by Islamic State members in west of Mosul.

In a statement, the Security Media Center said, “what was circulated by media channels on killing of five security personnel in an ambush by Islamic State members, who were disguised in security forces uniform, is completely untrue.”

“Names of the soldiers, who were claimed to be killed, do not exist,” the statement said urging media channels to stick to accuracy and rely on official sources before publishing.

Previously today, news reports quoted sources as saying five Iraqi security personnel were killed as Islamic State militants set up a fake checkpoint on the road linking between Mosul and Rabt’a region, located in Tal Afar, west of Mosul.

Iraq
Baghdad will respond to Turkish anti-PKK ground operation in Iraq
[ALMASDARNEWS] As part of its cross-border anti-Kurdish military operations, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
is attacking Kurdish-led forces in northern Syria, in addition to regularly carrying out Arclight airstrikes against gunnies from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) ‐ which has been designated a terror organization by the US, the EU and Turkey ‐ in northern Iraq.

Turkey has expressed its readiness to launch a ground operation against PKK gunnies in the Iraqi district of Sinjar, but an official from Iraq’s State of Law coalition warned that such an operation would be a violation of the country’s illusory sovereignty and would warrant a response by Iraqi forces.

Abbas al-Bayati from the aforementioned coalition made the comments in an exclusive interview with Baghdad Today and warned that the presence of Ottoman Turkish ground troops on Iraqi soil would be a breach of international law.

"Turkey cannot cross into Iraqi territories as our country enjoys illusory sovereignty and independence," the coalition member said on Wednesday.

He also highlighted that there are no reports of "any Ottoman Turkish penetration into Iraqi territories."

Iraqi forces have been conducting their own military operation in the Sinjar region to oust PKK gunnies from the area, which is close to the Iraq-Turkey border.

Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
previously said that "Turkey will do what is necessary" if Iraqi forces fail to clear the area, but Prime Minister Binali Yildirim clarified today that Ottoman Turkish forces would only mount a ground operation with prior approval from Baghdad.

"Turkey respects Iraq’s illusory sovereignty and will never commit any violation on its territories," PM Yildirim said in a phone call with Iraqi PM Haider al-Abadi on Wednesday.

At least 8 killed, 8 wounded in suicide car bomb in eastern Libya: Security Officer
[AlAhram] At least eight people, including civilians, were killed late Thursday in a suicide boom-mobileing of a security barricade in the east of Libya, the second such attack in less than a month, local security and hospital sources said.

A suicide kaboomer went kaboom! his vehicle at a barricade manned by forces loyal to Libyan strongman Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...

...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, general Fawzi al-Mansouri, a top officer in the local security forces, told AFP.

Eight other people were maimed.

"Five people died on arriving at the hospital shortly after the attack," a source at the city’s public hospital told AFP.

The three other victims died later of their injuries, the source who requested anonymity said.

"There were civilians among the dead and injured," Mansouri said, adding that no one has yet grabbed credit.

A suicide attack which injured three people on March 9 south of Ajdabiya was claimed by the Islamic State

group.

Despite the loss of its Sirte bastion in northern Libya in December 2016, IS remains active in the centre and south of the country.

The oil-rich North African country has been wracked by chaos since a 2011 uprising that toppled and killed long-time dictator Moamer Qadaffy.

Two authorities ‐ the Tripoli-based unity government and a rival administration in the east ‐ are vying for control of Libya.

Haftar, who opposes a UN-backed unity government based in Tripoli, announced the "liberation" of the eastern city of Benghazi last July after a three-year campaign.

No Special Counsel - AG Sessions appoints US Attorney John W. Huber to look into FBI shenanigans
Sessions' 4 page response to Grassely, Goodlatte, and Gowdy contained herein.

Probably a very good decision strategically:

(1) This US Attorney is in Utah and out of the Beltway cesspool.

(2) The federal grand juries in Salt Lake City are very law enforcement friendly and the makeup of the grand jurors is most notably conservative, unlike the DC court where a good 90% of the grand jurors are Democrat or Democrat leaning. Additionally, the FBI Special Agents in Salt Lake City will be working under Huber's direction, not swamp based FBI headquarters.

FBI Employees Who Fail Polygraph Tests Still Have Access to Classified Information
[Town Hall] Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz released a new report Thursday detailing serious lapses by the Federal Bureau of Investigation to follow up on polygraph tests failed by applicants and employees of the law enforcement agency.

According to the report, "the FBI did not always adhere to its policy restricting access to sensitive information for employees whose unresolved polygraph results were under investigation" and "the FBI does not fully document or centralize its record keeping of polygraph case information."

Further, the investigation found that because of the lengthy period of time between an FBI applicant or employee failing a polygraph and action by the Bureau to follow up, a number of individuals still had access to classified information and sensitive national security secrets after failing the test.

Victor Davis Hanson: Where Are the Left's Modern Muckrakers?
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, there was an epic fight of so-called muckrakers ‐ journalists and novelists such as Frank Norris, Upton Sinclair, Lincoln Steffens, and Ida Tarbell, along with trust-busting politicians like Teddy Roosevelt ‐ against rail, steel, and oil monopolies. Whatever one thought of their sensationalism and often hard-left socialist agendas, they at least brought public attention to price fixing, product liabilities, monopolies, and the buying of politicians.

No such progressive zealotry exists today in Silicon Valley and its affiliated tech spin-offs. And the result is a Roman gladiatorial spectacle with no laws in the arena.

In the last two elections, Facebook has sold its user data to Democratic and, apparently more controversially, Republican campaign affiliates. Google, Twitter, and Facebook have often been accused of censoring users’ expression according to their own political tastes. Civil libertarians have accused social-media and Internet giants of violating rights of privacy, by monitoring the shopping, travel, eating, and entertainment habits of their customers to the extent that they know where and when Americans travel or communicate with one another.

China-Japan-Koreas
China Expanding in Russia’s Transbaikal—and Russian Taxpayers Are Paying for It
See link:
[TheJamestownFoundation] A new scandal is adding fuel to the fire of Russian fears about Chinese penetration of Siberia and the Russian Far East. The Russian media in those regions is reporting that in order to sell Russian agricultural products to China—something that benefits both local oligarchs and Moscow—Russian taxpayers are being forced to subsidize the sector. And those taxpayers are reportedly receiving nothing back in return, because what the Chinese are willing to pay is less than the costs Russians incur producing the food (Babr24.com, March 22, 2018; RBK, November 23, 2017).

Were this a single isolated development, it might not be that significant. But it comes on top of others that have sparked headlines like “The Siberians Feel They are Losing Baikal to China” (Regnum, February 27), “Baikal: Appropriated by Bureaucrats and Seized by China” (Regnum, February 13), and “Russian Only for the Time Being: China Takes Control of Baikal” (Regnum, January 15). Thus, this recent agricultural subsidies scandal could prove to be the straw that broke the camel’s back. Notably, it links Russians’ anger at their own government—as exemplified this week in the furious reaction to official responses to the Kemerovo mall fire disaster (Meduza.io, March 26, 27; The Moscow Times, March 27, 28)—with public concern about what those same officials are allowing or even encouraging China to do on Russian territory.

'Slain' Abu Sayyaf rebel surrenders in Basilan
[FMT] A notorious Abu Sayyaf sub-leader, reported to have been killed during a gun battle with police in Sabah, last month, is apparently still alive. He is reported to have given himself up to the Philippine authorities yesterday.

On March 1, a Malaysian newspaper had identified a man, who was killed along with two other Filipino terror suspects, as the highly-wanted Nurhassan Jamiri. The newspaper said that Nurhassan was gunned down with the two accomplices at a plantation in Tawau on February 27. The identities of those three men have yet to be announced by officials, whose investigation also involves Interpol as well as security agencies from the Philippines and Indonesia.

The newspaper's report had then irked the Eastern Sabah Security Command, whose chief said the media should clear such reports before publishing as it had not been confirmed.

Philippine media sources yesterday reported that Nurhassan and 13 of his followers surrendered with their firearms in a remote village in Basilan province in Mindanao.

Nurhassan, who had remained off of the authorities’ radar for the last seven years, was suspected to have been involved in the bus bombing at the Makati financial hub of Manila that killed five passengers in 2011. He was also the reported captor of Warren Rodwell, an Australian who was held by the Abu Sayyaf for 472 days in Basilan in 2011.

It was also reported that Nurhassan led a notorious Abu Sayyaf sub-group consisting of slain bomb expert Mussana Jamiri, his cousin, in Basilan.

Pakistan High Court judge calls for ‘termination’ of Ahmaddiyas
[ATimes] The community, already under siege in Pakistan, now fears an increase in violence after 'menacing' verdict by Islamabad judge.

Pakistan’s minority Ahmadiyya community, who are shunned by staunch followers of Islam, face more persecution after a ruling on March 9 by a High Court judge.

A judge at the Islamabad High Court has ordered that applicants for jobs in the public service declare their faith before being considered for any positions. The court urged state institutions to ensure that citizens are “easily identifiable” by faith.

The verdict was handed down by Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, who last year declared blasphemers “terrorists” and worse than jihadists.

The verdict was delivered after hearings on amendments to the controversial Khatm-e-Nabuwwat, or finality of prophethood, clause in the Election Reforms Act, 2017, which would have eliminated a separate voters’ list for Ahmadis, an Islamic sect declared heretics in Pakistan.

The Second Amendment to the Constitution excommunicated the Ahmadiyya Muslims in 1974, enshrining belief that Khatm-e-Nabuwwat was integral to the Islamic faith.

Muslim rescuer of Jews takes seat in back at slain Holocaust survivor’s vigil
[IsraelTimes] After ceremony, dozens huddle around Lassana Bathily, thanking the 27-year-old who hid a dozen people from the jihadist who killed four at a kosher store in 2015

“I am here to support French Jews, sure, but I’m also here to support myself and other Frenchmen,” said Ndigal, a devout Christian of African descent. “We know by now that what begins with the Jews never ends with them. We are also in the crosshairs.”
French Jews mourning a Holocaust survivor murdered in her Gay Paree apartment welcomed the presence of La Belle France’s interior minister, Gérard Collomb, at a vigil in her memory.

"We appreciate authorities’ swift action for justice and continued support," Joel Mergui, the president of the Consistoire Jewish group, said Wednesday during a vigil at the Tournelles Synagogue in Gay Paree in memory of Mireille Knoll.

Driver Tries to Ram Soldiers as France Mourns Terror Victims
[AnNahar] A man driving a car with fake license plates tried to ram a group of soldiers out jogging in southeast La Belle France on Thursday, security sources told AFP.

Speaking French and Arabic, the man first threatened a group of soldiers at around 8 am (0600 GMT) in Varces-Allieres-et-Risset, near Grenoble, and then tried to run down another group returning to their barracks from a jog, the sources added.

"The soldiers managed to get up onto the pavement without being hit," army front man Colonel Benoit Brulon told AFP.

The driver of the small Peugeot 208 hatchback, who was accompanied by a woman, sped off before being placed in durance vile
I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece!
around lunchtime in Grenoble, police and military sources said.

Prosecutors in Grenoble, a town in the foothills of the French Alps, said the incident was not being treated as a terrorist attack for the moment and the motive remained unclear.
The motive is perfectly clear. “Allahu akhbar!” Islam triumphant. The sentiment is rather ruined by the miscreant’s rapid arrest, but whatever.

Court rules in favor of NYPD in Muslim surveillance case
[Ynet] The New York Police Department can use a Cold War-era legal tactic to conceal whether it put two Moslem men under surveillance, the state's highest court ruled Thursday.

The Court of Appeals, in a split 4-3 decision, ruled that the NYPD was in its rights to decline acknowledging whether records existed pertaining to possible surveillance of a Talib Abdur-Rashid, a Manhatta holy man, and Samir Hashmi, a former Rutgers University student.

In 2012, the two men filed separate Freedom of Information Law requests seeking any records the NYPD had relating to surveillance or an investigation. The NYPD responded by saying it could "neither confirm nor deny" the records even existed.

The men sued the NYPD separately in lawsuits prompted by a series of Pulitzer Prize-winning stories by The News Agency that Dare Not be Named on NYPD surveillance of Moslem groups in New York and New Jersey after the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks. After moving through lower courts, the two cases were combined for the Court of Appeals case.

Iraqi military takes control of Syrian border-crossing after PKK withdrawal
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Iraqi Armed Forces have taken full control of a Syrian border-crossing in the Nineveh Governorate, al-Sumaria TV reported this morning.

According to the report, the Iraqi Armed Forces asserted full control over the Khansour border-crossing after the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) withdrew from this part of the Nineveh Governorate.

The report added that Yezidi members of Hashd al-Sha’abi (var. Popular Mobilization Units) and Iraqi Army personnel are now deployed to this border-crossing with Syria.

Earlier this week, the PKK made the decision to completely withdraw from the western part of Sinjar, following threats from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

Platoon of ISIS fighters literally blown to pieces after Iraqi forces ambush their hideout in Kirkuk

Death Eaters was recently caught in an ambush and entirely wiped out.

According to reports from well-informed Iraqi pro-government sources, the engagement took place in the Hawija district of Kirkuk province and saw Iraqi Federal Police units came into contact with an ISIS grouping hiding out inside a large trench emplacement.

As photo evidence (below) shows, the terrorist fighters were completely annihilated (literally being blown into pieces) in the battle that ensured, the duration of which has not been stated.

Iraqi Federal Police units are generally as well-armed as the nation’s army minus some heavy equipment. Many federal officers are veteran troops after years of battling ISIS and other Death Eater groups that existed prior to Islamic State takeover of 2014.

Kuwaiti Friday sermon slams yoga, deems it ‘call for atheism’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The unified sermon for Friday prayer in Kuwait last week stirred controversy for linking moral decay to granting women freedom and for slamming yoga and physical activity, deeming them reflective of atheism, Kuwaiti newspaper al-Jarida reported.

The sermon, which is distributed by the Ministry of Awqaf, said atheists have "sanctified the human mind" and think that by practicing yoga, they will possess "God-like energy".

"They’ve called this cosmic energy or attraction laws or yoga or physical activity among other terms which do not fool the faithful and only deceive those who are ignorant of their religion," the sermon added.

The sermon also criticized yoga as an act which atheists promote.

Many voiced surprise of the sermon’s content and voiced fear that these remarks on yoga may incite bandidos Lions of Islam in society to attack licensed institutes which offer yoga classes.

The sermon also slammed calls to grant women freedom and said such calls aim to make women abandon chastity and modesty and adopt "atheist habits" resulting in moral decay.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf tried to deny addressing women’s affairs as such; however, the sermon, which is available online, clearly linked granting women’s freedom to atheist habits.

Member of Parliament, Ahmad al-Fadhl, voiced his discontent with the sermon.

"These sermons take us backwards tens of years. The minister must investigate this matter and know who is responsible for sending this sermon," Fadhl said, adding that isolating people and restraining thought are acts of "intellectual terrorism."

Eric Holder Would Run For President To Unify The Country
I think that’s an absolutely brilliant idea. And I think lots and lots of very generous Progressives should donate a great deal of money to help him fail to win enough votes to carry more than New York and California.
[DAILYCALLER] Former B.O. regime attorney general Eric Inaction Jackson Holder
... aka Mister Fast and Furious...
speculated this week on what would incentivize him to run for president.

Holder was asked in an interview with the New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

about running for the highest office in the land. The news hound asked, "If you were gonna do it, why would you do it. If you didn’t do it, why would you not do it?"

Holder said "If I were gonna do it, I’d do it because I would have concluded that maybe I could unify the country... help unify the country." Holder said he could also "advance" and "repair" the country as president. Holder said, "I had something to contribute, that would be the thing that would push me toward considering a run."

Holder said that the strain on his family would be the reason he would not run for president. The former attorney general noted that his family would regularly be bothered by the news stories and hearings that surrounded his contentious helm at the AG position.

"To subject myself and my family to that again could be a negative," Holder said.

Holder has speculated on a 2020 run in the past few months in various interviews.

Miami man has sex with Polk girl, 10, he met online
[TAMPABAY] A man traveled from Miami to kidnap and sexually batter a 10-year-old girl whom he met online, according to the Polk County in a hotel

Deputies say 23-year-old Jonathan Diaz Fundora took three days off from his job as manager at a Burger King to drive to Lakeland on Tuesday and meet the girl, whom he met through an online app.

He was jugged
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
on Tuesday after deputies found them at a Motel 6 in Lakeland. The girl was located hiding in a bathroom, and both the girl and Fundora told detectives they had sex.

"This suspect groomed and manipulated a little girl online and then traveled all the way to Polk County to sexually abuse her. He is the poster child for why it is critical that parents monitor their children’s activities online," Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said in a news release.

According to deputies:

Fundora groomed the girl after meeting her online six weeks earlier, directing her to perform sex acts and send him photos and video.

He arranged to meet the girl at the end of the road where she lives, and deputies say the girl left a note with her parents stating she would be staying at a friend’s house for three days.

A parent immediately called 911 and reported the girl missing upon seeing the note and realizing she was gone.

Within 35 minutes of receiving the 911 call, deputies had identified the suspect and his vehicle through his Facebook page, deputies said.

Deputies then located his car at the Motel 6.

Preliminary testing of Fundora’s electronic devices confirmed he had received photos and videos from the girl that he directed her to send, deputies said.

Fundora is being held at the Polk County Jail on several felony charges including kidnapping, sexual battery of a victim under 12, child pornography and use of a computer to seduce a child.

Protests continue in Ahwaz as Iranian forces use violence to limit them
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Videos and images of Iranian forces shooting live ammunition in the air to scare off thousands of Arab Ahwaz protesters have been widely circulated on social media as protesters continue for the second day.

According to an Ahwaz human rights
When they're defined by the state or an NGO they don't mean much...
group, no injuries have been reported yet, however videos on social media show Iranian forces shooting live ammunition extensively in the air and running young protesters toward downtown Ahwaz to corner them and scare them off.

Another video shared by activists showed Iranian forces arresting several protesters as random shots being fired.

Activists have also confirmed that Iranian authorities have blocked the social media platform Telegram in order to limit the protests.

Thousands have already gathered in the city of Ahwaz southwest of Iran with videos showing about 5,000 protesters, including women, chanting popular Ahwaz slogans like "With our soul and blood, we will protect you Ahwaz".

The protests were sparked by a children’s television show aired on the country’s national channel on Iran’s New Year’s Day, Nooroz, including a segment that completely ignored the Arab origins of the city which is mostly Arab-populated.

Activists are saying that the government is purposely propagating a discriminatory agenda against the Arabs of Ahwaz, and is continuing its plan to change the demographic of the city and ignore the Arab identity there.

The city, fully characterized to be Arab in terms of population, geography, culture, language and history out of all other regions of Iran, has seen a call for protests on social media through the hashtag "I am Arab".

Protesters criticized the Iranian Radio and Television Corporation, which is under the direct supervision of Ali Khamenei, demanding accountability of those involved and an official apology for Arab people in Ahwaz.

Following forced separation of protests in some streets, thousands of people gathered in the old souk of the city on Thursday.

Britain
Russian ex-spy’s daughter no longer in critical condition
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The daughter of a Russian ex-spy poisoned in a nerve-agent attack is improving rapidly and is out of critical condition, the hospital treating the pair said Thursday - an unexpected piece of good news in a chilling mystery that has sparked an international crisis.

Sergei and Yulia Skripal were found unconscious and critically ill in the English city of Salisbury on March 4. British authorities say they were poisoned with a military-grade nerve agent made in Russia.

Salisbury NHS Trust, which oversees the hospital where the Skripals are being treated, said Thursday 33-year-old Yulia is "improving rapidly and is no longer in a critical condition. Her condition is now stable."

"She has responded well to treatment but continues to receive expert clinical care 24 hours a day," said Dr. Christine Blanshard, medical director at Salisbury District Hospital.

Sergei Skripal, 66, remains at death's door, the hospital said.

Skripal, a former Russian military intelligence officer, was imprisoned after he sold secrets to British intelligence. He was released in a 2010 spy swap and moved to Britannia.

Britannia says he and his daughter, who was visiting from Russia, were poisoned with a nerve agent developed in Soviet times and that it must have come from Russia.

Police say they were likely exposed to the poison on the door of Sergei Skripal’s suburban house in Salisbury, where the highest concentration of the chemical has been found.

About 250 British counterterrorism officers are working on the investigation, retracing the Skripals’ movements to uncover how the poison was delivered. They have searched a pub, a restaurant and a cemetery, and on Thursday cordoned off a children’s playground near the Skripal home.

Moscow vehemently denies involvement in the attack, which has sparked a diplomatic crisis between Russia and the West.

US trade report lays bare Chinese government cyber-espionage
[ATimes] Report charges Chinese attacks service strategic objectives that are aligned with national industrial policies. Plausible deniability is maintained.

China’s government is engaged in a systematic program of cyber attacks on American and foreign companies, according to a US government trade report made public last week.

The cyber intrusions into corporate networks are one of four areas identified by the office of the US Trade Representative as unfair trading practices. These have prompted the administration of US President Donald Trump to impose tariffs on Chinese products in the coming weeks.

The other areas outlined in the USTR report include restrictions on businesses operating in China designed to induce technology transfers, and systematic acquisitions of technology companies to obtain advanced commercial know-how.

“Estimates of the losses of cyber theft alone are in the hundreds of billions of dollars.”

On cyber attacks, the 215-page report states that for over a decade “the Chinese government has conducted and supported cyber intrusions into US commercial networks targeting confidential business information held by US firms.”

It adds that: “Through these cyber intrusions, China’s government has gained unauthorized access to a wide range of commercially-valuable business information, including trade secrets, technical data, negotiating positions, and sensitive and proprietary internal communications.”

The report concludes that the cyber intrusions and information exfiltration poses “a grave threat” to the economy and competitiveness of the US.

Turkish military attempts to block Syrian Army offensive at Jisr Al-Shughour
[ALMASDARNEWS] A Ottoman Turkish military convoy was pictured heading towards the Idlib Governorate city of Jisr al-Shughour, today, as negotiations with the Russian Reconciliation Center failed in northern Syria.

The Ottoman Turkish military convoy reportedly approached the Idlib Governorate via the Khirbat al-Joz area; however, their personnel would remain in the Hatay Province.

According to a Syrian military source, the Ottoman Turkish military is planning to setup an observation point near Jisr al-Shughour in order to deter the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) from launching an offensive to capture this city.

This latest report comes just 24 hours after the Ottoman Turkish military refused to handover Jisr al-Shughour to the Syrian Army, despite the fact they demanded control of Tal Rifa’at in northern Aleppo.

Rescued Filipino priest says airstrikes routed Maute militants
[AyPee] A priest taken hostage last year by Maute militants described how military airstrikes helped crush the siege of Marawi, but said a Muslim autonomy deal is crucial for preventing new fighting.

Reverend Teresito Soganub recalled his 116-day captivity in a news conference where he described how he and the other hostages constantly feared for their survival amid the airstrikes and clashes. He said he and the other hostages were forced by their captors to collect powder from firecrackers and unedetonated military ordnance, which the rebels used to make bombs.

Explosions and gunfire repeatedly shook the ground and smashed buildings where the rebels ordered them to lie low during fierce fighting, said Soganub, who couldn't recall how many near-death moments he experienced. He said, "Every moment, day and night, we were facing death. We didn't know if we'll still be alive in the next hour or next minute."

When the siege began, about 120 armed militants barged into a church compound, where Soganub said he was seized with five church workers and others. Later, in the buildings where they were hidden, Soganub counted about 120 hostages with him at one time.

During the fierce fighting, the rebels took cover in concrete buildings and houses, which they used as combat bases and sniper posts. But military strikes and artillery fire gradually caused that combat advantage to crumble and allowed troops to advance,

Soganub said, "The airstrikes were terrible, you could fill each crater they dug with two cars, and we could get killed if they hit our building dead center or on the sides," adding that two of the kidnapped church staffers were killed in airstrikes and artillery bombardments.

Soganub said Malaysian and Indonesian gunmen were involved in the fighting but that local militants, including Hapilon, led the uprising. Hapilon, who died during the final battles, visited their hideout occasionally to lead a prayer and check on the hostages.

FCC authorizes Elon Musk's SpaceX to provide broadband satellite services

This is the StarLink system of up to 12,000 satellites to provide multi-gigabit up/down data service everywhere on the planet.

This marks the first time the FCC has allowed a U.S.-licensed satellite constellation to provide broadband services through low-Earth orbit satellites

The communication satellite network SpaceX envisions was publicly announced in January 2015, with the projected capability of supporting the bandwidth to carry up to 50 percent of all backhaul communications traffic and up to 10 percent of local Internet traffic in high-density cities. CEO Elon Musk believes that there is significant unmet demand for low-cost global broadband capabilities.
SpaceX has articulated the explicit goal to provide broadband internet connectivity to underserved areas of the planet, as well as provide competitively-priced service to urban areas. Moreover, SpaceX has indicated that the positive cash flow from selling satellite internet services would be necessary to fund SpaceX Mars plans.

In early 2015, two space entrepreneurs announced Internet satellite ventures in the same week. In addition to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk announcing the project that would later be named Starlink, serial-entrepreneur Richard Branson announced an investment in OneWeb, a similar constellation with approximately 700 satellites that had already procured communication frequency licenses for their broadcast spectrum.

Extending to use beyond Earth
In the long-term, SpaceX intends to develop and deploy a version of the satellite communication system that would be used on Mars. In the mid-term, SpaceX is interested in the satcomm system on Earth generating revenue that would be helpful in providing capital for the company's Mars transport project.

The system will not compete with Iridium satellite constellation, which is designed to link directly to handsets. Instead, it will be linked to flat user terminals the size of a pizza box, which will have phased array antennas and track the satellites. The terminals can be mounted anywhere, as long as they can see the sky.

While internet via a geostationary satellite has a latency of no less than 240 ms, the lower latency limit for Starlink orbiting at 1100 km is only 3% of that, about 7 ms.

The system will use a peer-to-peer protocol simpler than IPv6.

SpaceX began flight testing their satellite technologies in 2018,[13] with the launch of two test satellites. The two identical satellites were called MicroSat-1a and MicroSat-1b during development but were renamed Tintin A and Tintin B upon orbital deployment in February 2018.

The satellites orbit in a circular low Earth orbit at 625 kilometers (388 mi) altitude in a high-inclination orbit for a planned six to twelve-month duration. The satellites will communicate with three testing ground stations in Washington and California for short-term experiments of less than ten minutes duration, roughly daily. Both microsats were originally slated to be launched into 625 km circular orbits at approximately 86.4 degrees inclination, and to include panchromatic video imager cameras to film image of Earth and the satellite.

As is so often the case in this kind of intra-elite competition in Russia, the standoff between the military and the FSB/GRU is not being driven by them directly, but rather by two nominally independent groups, which are in fact surrogates for the two sides: the defense ministry–connected Voluntary Society for Supporting the Army, Airforce and Fleet (DOSAAF) and the FSB/GRU-linked Union of Donbas Volunteers. Both organizations are taking the lead in promoting the legalization of PMCs by the Duma (lower house of parliament). If PMCs are legalized in one particular way, that will tilt control away from the defense ministry; if in another, it will ensure that the ministry retains a dominant position.

According to Moscow-based military expert Aleksey Tarazevich, the fight over such new legislation, which remained in the background during the presidential campaign, is now set to become public with new force (Dailystorm.ru, March 22; Newizv.ru), March 23). “Formally,” he writes, “DOSAAF is a non-governmental organization, which, nevertheless, is connected with the state” and especially the defense ministry. Earlier this month, DOSAAF’s deputy head, Nikolay Staskov, “indirectly confirmed” both that it has the capacity to train private military companies and has developed its own draft legislation to legalize them (Omvesti.ru, March 3).

Other pieces of draft legislation, including some prepared by those close to the Union of Donbas Volunteers, which is close to the intelligence agencies, have been floating around for some time. According to Tarasevich, neither the pro–defense ministry version offered by DOSAAF, nor the pro-FSB or pro-GRU versions offered by the Union of Donbas Volunteers gained much traction in the Duma, because the Kremlin did not want the issue to surface during the presidential campaign lest it raise questions about Vladimir Putin’s intentions. Now with that campaign over, the situation has changed.

9th Circuit Court of Appeals judge Stephen Reinhardt dies at 87
GOOD. Appoint a Conservative.
[TheHill] Judge Stephen Reinhardt, a judge on the San Francisco-based 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and a champion of liberal causes on the court, died Thursday at the age of 87.

A court spokesperson told BuzzFeed News that Reinhardt was at a dermatologist's office when he died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon.

Reinhardt, who was appointed by former President Jimmy Carter in 1980, served on one of the country's most notoriously liberal courts, issuing many prominent decisions during his tenure including a 2012 decision striking down California's ban on gay marriage.

And so it begins.
[IsraelTimes] Five Paleostinians said shot as 200 stage violent protests near border; preparations continue on both sides ahead of Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbung millipede,-backed 'March of Return' on Friday

Israeli troops shot up a number of Paleostinian rioters who tried to damage the security fence around the Gazoo Strip on Thursday, the army said.

According to the army, approximately 200 Paleostinians took part in violent protests at four main locations along the security fence, lighting fires and throwing rocks at Israeli soldiers on the other side.

Two Palestinians breach Gaza security fence in fourth incident in a week

[IsraelTimes] Two Paleostinians armed with a knife and wire cutters breached the security fence around Gazoo on Thursday, the fourth such incident in a week despite the army being on high alert in the area.

The men, from southern Gazoo, were detained just after crossing into Israel and taken for questioning, the army said.

Earlier this week, Sinjar’s mayor, Mahma Khalil, reported the PKK’s pullout from Sinjar and the arrival of Iraqi army vanguards to the region.

PKK said in an earlier statement it was withdrawing from the mainly-Yazidi region as it managed to protect the locals from Islamic State murderous Moslems whose defeat the Iraqi government declared last December.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
IDF makes final preparations for mass Gaza protests
[Ynet] As Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", plans 'March of Return' toward Israeli border on Friday, thousands of IDF soldiers deployed along the border, parts of the border area declared closed military zones, and troops equipped with non-lethal crowd dispersal measures in effort to avoid fatalities on Paleostinian side.

The IDF was making final preparations Thursday night ahead of the Paleostinian "Great March of Return" towards the Israel-Gazoo border fence on Friday.

Thousands of soldiers from the Golani Brigade, the Armored Corps, the Nahal Brigade and the Givati Brigade, as well as troops from the Combat Intelligence Collection Corps, Air Force video units and Special Forces will be deployed along the Gazoo frontier, while parts of the border area will be declared closed military zones.

The Seder night breaks for hundreds of soldiers currently in training had to be canceled so reinforcements could be sent to the Gazoo border.

The IDF has completed works to build fortifications in the form of massive mounds of earth, behind which dozens of snipers will be stationed on Friday.

IDF engineering forces also set up barbed-wire fences to make it harder on Paleostinians who may attempt to cross the border fence.

The march is expected to begin in the late morning hours, and it is part of a broader Paleostinian campaign that begins Friday, Land Day, and is set to end in a month and a half on May 15‐Nakba Day. Buses to the border will leave from all across the Gazoo Strip after noon prayers.

While the height of the Paleostinian campaign is expected around Israel's Independence Day and the opening of the new US Embassy in Jerusalem, defense officials estimate that thousands of Paleostinian protesters will take part in the march on Friday in more than 10 locations along the border‐from the Erez Crossing in the north of Gazoo to the Kerem Shalom area in the enclave's south.

The IDF wishes to prevent a "photo of victory" from Hamas‐either of Paleostinian rioters crossing the border fence and planting a Paleostinian flag on the Israel site, or of many bodies of rioters shot to death by the IDF.

To that end, troops have been equipped with gas and stun grenades as well as other crowd dispersal measures in an effort to avoid the use of live fire against the protesters as much as possible.

The IDF forces will also be using multirotor drones and tactical drones, which will be flying over friction points to monitor rioters and alert the troops to their actions.

The troops have been preparing to face worst-case scenarios, including an attempt by Hamas fighters to infiltrate Israel under the cover of the protests‐either through tunnels or from above ground‐and attack the soldiers who would be distracted by the rioting. The soldiers are also prepared for possible sniper fire from Gazoo under the cover of the protests.

The IDF urged Israeli citizens living in the border area not to break from their daily routine, and no restrictions have been placed on them or visitors expected to arrive at the western Negev area during the intermediate days of Passover.

While Paleostinians in Gazoo will march towards the border, their brethen in the West Bank will also hold protests to mark Land Day, which commemorates the six Arab citizens of Israel killed by Israeli security forces in demonstrations in 1976 over land confiscations. The main demonstration is set to take place at the Beit El checkpoint, which leads to Ramallah.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Trump says US troops to get out of Syria 'very soon'
[Al Jazeera] US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
has declared that the United States will withdraw from war-torn Syria "very soon", without offering any other details.

"We will be coming out of Syria very soon. Let the other people take care of it now," Trump said on Thursday in a televised rally in the state of Ohio.

Trump complained that the US spends trillions of dollars in the Middle East, but get "nothing" in return.

He did not say whether the withdrawal also includes the US halting its air operation against the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS, also known as ISIS) fighters, who remain in Syria.

He told the Ohio workers that the American troops have "knocked the hell out of ISIS".

"We're going to have 100 percent of the caliphate, as they call it. Sometimes referred to as land. We're taking it all back quickly."

US troops in Syria are mostly stationed in the northern part of the country, and are embedded with the Kurdish YPG, its main ally in fighting ISIS.

Last week, the US State Department denied reports that it reached a deal with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
on the presence of American troops in the Kurdish city of Manbij.

Turkey, which recently launched a military operation inside Syria, considers the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) in Syria and its armed-wing YPG to be "terrorist groups" with ties to the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

The PKK has waged a decades-long armed fight against the Ottoman Turkish state that has killed tens of thousands of people.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Popular Beer and Wine Brands Contaminated With Monsanto's Weedkiller
[EcoWatch] The past few years have revealed some disturbing news for the alcohol industry. In 2015, CBS news broke the announcement of a lawsuit against 31 brands of wines for high levels of inorganic arsenic. In 2016, beer testing in Germany also revealed residues of glyphosate in every single sample tested, even independent beers.
Heavenly sunlight being provided through a crack in the cloud cover. Nothing more.
Moms Across America released test results of 12 California wines that were all found to be positive for glyphosate in 2016. We tested further and released new findings last week of glyphosate in all of the most popular brands of wines in the world, the majority of which are from the U.S. and in batch test results in American beer.

What do these events all have in common? Monsanto's Roundup.

French molecular biologist Gilles-Éric Séralini released shocking findings in January of 2018 that of all the Roundup products they tested, over a dozen had high levels of arsenic—over five times the allowable limit along with dangerous levels of heavy metals.

Roundup is commonly sprayed in vineyards to keep the rows looking tidy and free of so-called weeds and on grain crops (used in beer) as a drying agent just before harvest. Glyphosate herbicides do not dry, wash or cook off and they have been proven to be neurotoxic, carcinogenic, endocrine disruptors and a cause of liver disease at very low levels.

The wine brands tested included Gallo, Beringer, Mondavi, Barefoot and Sutter Home. Beer brands tested included Budweiser, Busch, Coors, Michelob, Miller Lite, Sam Adams, Samuel Smith, Peak Organic and Sierra Nevada.

Some of the test results were at first confusing. One would expect the organic wines and beers, and the carefully crafted independent beer brands to be free of glyphosate, as the herbicides are not allowed or used in organic farming. Instead, it appears that they are contaminated. Previous testing did show that some organic wines were contaminated, and in this round, one of the organic brands was as low as 0.38 ppb, but conventional wines had glyphosate residues 61 times higher, at 23.30 ppb. Studies have shown only 1 part per trillion to stimulate the growth of breast cancer cells, so any amount is concerning.

The clip shows a unknown type of missile speeding into the night's sky, followed by footage of at least one F-16 that the rebels shot with a FLIR Systems infrared camera. The insurgents have used this equipment, an American-made system that they likely captured or otherwise obtained from former Yemeni government elements, to film attacks on aircraft in the past.

(ISIS) member, Arben Imishti, age 38, guilty of carrying out murders in Syria, the Brussels Times reported this evening.
At the end of thirty years the dead guys get their heads back and they'll be alive again and everything will be square. Right?
According to the report from the Brussels Times, Imishti was sentenced by a Mechelen court to 30 years in prison, despite his absence from the courtroom.
Ahah. Recipe for rabbit stew: First, catch a rabbit...
And that is why this article is on Page 2: WoT Background. When they actually jail or kill him, his story will move to Page 1.
Imishti had appeared in several Islamic State videos alongside a British terrorist known as "Jihadi John." The Belgian national was easily identified by the prosecution because unlike his accomplice Jihadi John, he did not wear a mask in the Islamic State execution videos.

Imishti’s family maintains that he was killed in Syria; however, this did not stop the Belgian authorities from charging him for the crimes he committed. In particular, Imishti was filmed beheading as many as 20 captured Syrian Army soldiers in the al-Raqqa Governorate in late 2014.

The ISIS member had participated in the execution of these soldiers and was later identified by the Belgian authorities one year later.

Elon Musk's brain implant start-up reportedly planned to test on animals

[CNBC] In seeking regulatory approval for its planned use of office space in San Francisco, a Neuralink employee said the company was looking to house rodents and conduct operations "for in vivo testing."

Elon Musk has said Neuralink will initially focus on providing brain implants to people with disabilities. But he has not talked about testing on animals.

Neuralink.com - mainly jobs

[Gizmodo] Gizmodo obtained public records that showed Neuralink CEO Jared Birchall tried to renovate the headquarters in a letter to the Planning Department, with a “small operating room for in vivo testing, and a small room to house rodents.” The letter explains that rodents are exempt from the Animal Welfare Act. The company then told the city that it had abandoned those plans, and evidence suggests Neuralink has instead been researching at the Davis campus at University of California since June 2017, with potential ambitions to revisit plans in the future. An architect involved with the project told the publication that the company was now looking elsewhere for a place to build.

[DailyMail] Elon Musk's Neuralink may be testing its 'Matrix' style computer-brain interfaces on animals, it has emerged. Devices being developed by the firm are designed to give people advanced mental abilities, which Musk says will let humanity keep up with 'godlike' AI systems
No mention was made of when he planned to make controling implants on California's politicians.

's senior adviser Jared Kushner for allegedly leaking classified information to a foreign power.

In a letter addressed to FBI Director Christopher Wray on Thursday, the six politicians demanded the president's son-in-law be questioned over allegations in recent media reports that he gave Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...

"We request the FBI open an immediate investigation to determine if these reports are accurate and to explore the extent to which information and sources may have been compromised," the letter said.

Representatives Ted Lieu, Gerald Connolly, Donald Beyer, Pramila Jaypal, Peter Welch, and Ruben Gallego noted "while the president has the authority to declassify and share information, the president's advisers do not".

The letter said Kushner may have shared information in the President's Daily Brief (PDB) on which Saudi royals US intelligence agencies "deemed to be loyal" to bin Salman when he visited the capital Riyadh last year.

#2  Slander involves the oral "publication" of a defamatory remark that is heard by another, which injures the subject's reputation or character. Slander can occur through the use of a hand gesture or verbal communication that is not recorded. Libel, on the other hand, is the written "publication" of a defamatory remark that has the tendency to injure another's reputation or character. Libel also includes a publication on radio, audio or video.

Emmanuel Macron has been criticized at home over his response to a Ottoman Turkish military operation against YPG bad boys. The group makes up a large portion of the SDF, which have been at the forefront of the US-led coalition’s strategy to defeat the hard-line bad boys.

Macron met earlier for the first time with a delegation that included the YPG, which The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
is trying to sweep away from its border, its political arm the PYD, and Christian and Arab officials.

"The president ... paid tribute to the sacrifices and the determining role of the SDF in the fight against ISIS," Macron’s office said in a statement.

"He assured the SDF of La Belle France’s support for the stabilization of the security zone in the north-east of Syria, within the framework of an inclusive and balanced governance, to prevent any resurgence of ISIS."

Former president Francois Hollande
...the Socialist president of La Belle France, an economic bad joke for la Belle France but seemingly a foreign policy realist...
, who originally approved French support for the Kurds, bemoaned on March 23 Macron’s Syria policy, in particular his attitude to the YPG, accusing him of abandoning them.

Ankara considers the YPG to be an extension of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which has waged a decades-long insurgency against the state within Turkey.

La Belle France, like the United States, has extended arms and training to the YPG-led militia in the fight against ISIS, and has dozens of special forces based in the region, which has infuriated Turkey.

Turkey stormed the northern Syrian town of Afrin last week, and has repeatedly threatened to push its operations further east to Manbij where US troops are stationed.

Speaking to Rooters after the meeting with Macron, Khaled Eissa, a PYD member who represents the northern Syria region in Gay Paree, said Macron had promised to send more troops to the area, provide humanitarian assistance and push a diplomatic solution.

"There will be reinforcements to help secure from attacks by Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
and stop a foreign aggression," he said, referring to Turkey. "It’s message that this irresponsible action from the Islamists in Ankara stops."

The French presidency declined to comment on whether Gay Paree was sending troops. However,
you can observe a lot just by watching...
it said in the statement that Macron was offering to mediate between the two sides given that the SDF had distanced itself from the PKK.

"Acknowledging the commitment of the SDF to have no operational link with this terrorist group ... he (Macron) hopes that a dialogue could be established between the FDS and Turkey with La Belle France and the international community’s help," it said.

Macron spoke with US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
on Tuesday about the situation in northern Syria.

Arabia
Saudi Shura member: Qatar uses intelligence to attract extremist group leaders
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A member of the Saudi Shura Council and the King Abdulaziz Center for National Dialogue accused Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
of using its intelligence apparatuses to attract the leaders of several organizations like al-Qaeda and the Saudi branch of the Moslem Brüderbund.

In an interview with Al Arabiya, Issa al-Ghaith said Doha granted al-Qaeda leader in Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, Abdel Aziz al-Muqrin, a Qatari passport to facilitate his entrance into the kingdom to execute terrorist activities.

He added that the Sururist group, which was established in Saudi Arabia after defecting from the Saudi branch of the Moslem Brüderbund, was also among the list.

Ghaith also noted that members of the Moslem Brüderbund and Sururist Movement visited Qatar and were also seen in Rabaa Square when Mohammed Mursi was president of Egypt.

He said that they have also been to Istanbul, adding that these members blindly defended Qatar and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire....
, while instigating against their own countries.

"We have thousands of books, most of which are worthless, while there is a complete absence of publications about this dangerous reality of secret ideology-based organizations that have existed for years and that threaten our lives, thoughts and country. I can only remember one book on the matter called Awakening Islam by Stephane Lacroix," he said.

Ghaith criticized the general dereliction at dealing with these secret and dangerous organizations and noted that Iran, Turkey and Qatar have been interfering in other countries’ affairs via their agents which consist of Sunni and Shiite Islamist organizations.

"We need professional security apparatuses in the Arab world to deal with what happened and with what has been happening for at least 40 years, since 1979," Ghaith said.

"I think there are four entities which can be viewed as the worst enemy and largest threat on Arab security and they are, the Persian Iran, the Ottoman Turkey, the terrorist Qatar and the Moslem Brüderbund and its branches which are the most dangerous," he added.

"We are committed to support security in Saudi Arabia, and we condemn the Houthi terrorist missile attacks that have sought to harm the cities, towns and villages of Saudi Arabia," he said.

The Mufti stressed that "the security of Saudi Arabia means the security for every Arab and every Moslem."

"Moslems in Leb have no other choice but to be with Saudi Arabia," he said.

The Security Council on Wednesday strongly condemned Houthi missile attacks on Saudi Arabia.

Former Offspring drummer turned OB/GYN saves juror during his own Bay Area malpractice trial
[SFGATE] A Bay Area obstetrician-gynecologist and former member of a legendary punk band proved he retains his DIY sensibility at a recent medical malpractice trial, where he saved a prospective juror's life.
"Yer honor, I object!"
The judge declared a mistrial, fearing the doc's heroics would sway the jury.
"[BANG!] Sustained!"
"No good deed goes unpunished," Dr. James Lilja, a San Jose and Fremont-based physician and founding drummer of The Offspring, told Law360. Lilja left The Offspring in the late 1980s to deliver offspring.

Lilja faces medical malpractice charges, filed by Stephenie Sargiotto and her husband, John, in Alameda County Superior Court, for the alleged negligent treatment of Ms. Sargiotto.

Trial proceedings didn't get very far this week after one of more than 35 prospective jurors collapsed, hit his head and lost consciousness, Law360 reports. Lilja and his nurse assistant rushed from the courtroom to the juror's side and found him without a pulse and not breathing.

Italy arrests 5 in probe of 2016 German Christmas market attack
[IsraelTimes] Suspects accused of activities relating to 'international terrorism' linked to Tunisian Anis Amri, who killed 12 by ramming a truck into crowd

Italian police Thursday incarcerated
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
five people as part of an anti-terror raid linked to a Tunisian who staged a deadly attack on a Berlin Christmas market in 2016, Italian media reported. Anis Amri, a rejected asylum seeker, had rammed a stolen truck into the crowded square, killing 12 people and wounding about 100 others.

The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group grabbed credit for the attack on December 19, 2016 ‐ its deadliest ever carried out in Germany.

Amri, who had previously lived in Italia, was killed four days after the assault by police in a Milan suburb.

The five detained Thursday morning are accused of activities linked to "international terrorism" and procuring false documents for migrants colonists, the Italian AGI news agency reported. The suspects included a Tunisian national from the city of Latina, south of Rome, who had allegedly planned to provide Amri with fake identity papers to help him flee abroad, Sherlocks told AGI.

The raids were carried out in several cities including Rome, Latina, and Naples.

Amri, who was 24 when he was rubbed out by police, landed on the Mediterranean island of Lampedusa in 2011 and spent four years in prison in Sicily for burning down a school.

In the aftermath of the Berlin attack, Italian police raided several homes where Amri had reportedly stayed in 2015 in an agricultural region southeast of Rome. The press reported that he had spent several weeks in Aprilia, about 40 kilometers south of the Italian capital, with a fellow Tunisian whom he met in Lampedusa.

At the time, Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni ruled out the existence of "networks" supporting Amri in Italia, but judicial authorities said that the country’s criminal underbelly often provided logistical support to European terrorists.

Following the deadly market attack, German police faced fierce criticism when it emerged that Amri ‐ who had been in Germany since 2015 and was registered under several different identities ‐ should have been deported.

On Wednesday, Italian police also arrested a 23-year-old Italian with Moroccan parents, Halili Elmahdi, in the northeastern city of Turin. Police said Elmahdi showed alarming signs of radicalization and was promoting Islamist extremism on social networks. During a raid at his home, security forces uncovered manuals indicating how to kill someone with a knife and instructions for installing a bomb on board a truck.

The homes of 13 of Elmahdi’s contacts were searched on the same day in several Italian cities.

Elmahdi is suspected of seeking to recruit Moslem "lone wolves" in Italia to commit attacks.

Prosecutors said that the 23-year-old, who was under surveillance after being arrested in 2015 on charges of glorifying terrorism, may have been ready to commit acts of terror because of his radicalisation.

#1  *Yawn* As a teenager it was sobering to know that Tinker AFB, Oklahoma City and OCAMA (One of the main repair sites for B-52s) was about 15 miles north of my home -- in fact on cloudy days I could look up and see landing gear down on their approach to Tinker AFB. State Capitol, main crossing of river railroads and the I-35/I-40 intersection meant OKC was going to be plastered hard in the second wave of ICBMs....
Anyway, with a few low, rolling hills between home and a series of air and ground bursts I felt that Global Nuclear War would be a brief experience -- very brief.

LockMart Patents FUSION REACTOR!
[TheDrive] Lockheed Martin has quietly obtained a patent associated with its design for a potentially revolutionary compact fusion reactor, or CFR. If this project has been progressing on schedule, the company could debut a prototype system that size of shipping container, but capable of powering a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier or 80,000 homes, sometime in the next year or so.

The patent, for a portion of the confinement system, or embodiment, is dated Feb. 15, 2018. The Maryland-headquartered defense contractor had filed a provisional claim on April 3, 2013 and a formal application nearly a year later. Our good friend Stephen Trimble, chief of Flightglobal's Americas Bureau, subsequently spotted it and Tweeted out its basic details.

In 2014, the company also made a splash by announcing they were working on the device at all and that it was the responsibility of its Skunk Works advanced projects office in Palmdale, California. At the time, Dr. Thomas McGuire, head of the Skunk Works’ Compact Fusion Project, said the goal was to have a working reactor in five years and production worthy design within 10.

Of course, it remains to be seen if Lockheed Martin’s fusion reactor will actually become a reality. Many other companies and institutions have tried for nearly a century to create workable fusion power without success.

On the one hand, a corporation receiving a patent does not necessarily mean they are actively pursuing the technology that the document describes, either. In addition, since the media blitz in 2014, Skunk Works has said very little about this project outside of the plasma physics community. The U.S. government also reserves the right to classify patents it feels might be a threat to national security if they were public, so the fact that this one is not might also calls into question how mature the system might be in actuality.

Still, the that Skunk Works continued to pursue the patent process over the past four years would similarly seem to indicate that they are indeed pushing ahead with the program, at least to some degree. This storied division definitely does have an impressive pedigree when it comes to advanced research and development projects, too. They were also confident enough four years ago to give interviews and offer significant details about the basic reactor design, the projected timeline, and the overall program goals, suggesting that it was a serious endeavor.

Considering the five year timeline Dr. McGuire put out in 2014 for achieving a workable prototype, maybe we’re due for another big announcement from Lockheed Martin in the near future.
