The Trump administration will move forward with the sale of high-tech aircraft to Nigeria for its campaign against Boko Haram Islamic extremists despite concerns over abuses committed by the African nation's security forces, according to U.S. officials. Handwringing in the first paragraph?
Congress is expected to receive formal notification within weeks, setting in motion a deal with Nigeria that the Obama administration had planned to approve at the very end of Barack Obama's presidency. The arrangement will call for Nigeria to purchase up to 12 Embraer A-29 Super Tucano aircraft with sophisticated targeting gear for nearly $600 million, one of the officials said.
The officials were not authorized to discuss the terms of the sale publicly and requested anonymity to speak about internal diplomatic conversations. "I can say no more"
Though President Donald Trump has made clear his intention to approve the sale of the aircraft, the National Security Council is still working on the issue. Military sales to several other countries are also expected to be approved but are caught up in an ongoing White House review. Nigeria has been trying to buy the aircraft since 2015. #SellUsthedamnplanes
The Nigerian air force has been accused of bombing civilian targets at least three times in recent years. In the worst incident, a fighter jet on Jan. 17 repeatedly bombed a camp at Rann, near the border with Cameroon, where civilians had fled from Boko Haram. Between 100 and 236 civilians and aid workers were killed, according to official and community leaders' counts

...Here are 14 questions that proponents of war in Syria must answer before anyone considers whether military intervention to remove Assad is the best course of action for the American people.
1) What national security interest, rather than pure humanitarian interest, is served by the use of American military power to depose Assad’s regime?
2) How will deposing Assad make America safer?
3) What does final political victory in Syria look like (be specific), and how long will it take for that political victory to be achieved? Do you consider victory to be destabilization of Assad, the removal of Assad, the creation of a stable government that can protect itself and its people without additional assistance from the United States, etc.?
4) What military resources (e.g., ground troops), diplomatic resources, and financial resources will be required to achieve this political victory?
5) How long will it take to achieve political victory?
6) What costs, in terms of lives (both military and civilian), dollars, and forgone options elsewhere as a result of resource deployment in Syria, will be required to achieve political victory?
7) What other countries will join the United States in deposing Assad, in terms of military, monetary, or diplomatic resources?
8) Should explicit congressional authorization for the use of military force in Syria be required, or should the president take action without congressional approval?
9) What is the risk of wider conflict with Russia, given that nation’s presence and stake in Syria, if the United States chooses to invade and depose Assad, a key Russian ally in the Middle East?
10) If U.S. intervention in Syria does spark a larger war with Russia, what does political victory in that scenario look like, and what costs will it entail?
11) Given that Assad has already demonstrated a willingness to use chemical weapons, how should the United States respond if the Assad regime deploys chemical, biological, or nuclear weapons against the United States?
12) Assuming the Assad regime is successfully removed from power, what type of government structure will be used to replace Assad, who will select that government, and how will that government establish and maintain stability going forward?
13) Given that a change in political power in the United States radically altered the American position in Iraq in 2009, how will you mitigate or address the risk of a similar political dynamic upending your preferred strategy in Syria, either in 2018, 2020, or beyond?
14) What lessons did you learn from America’s failure to achieve and maintain political victory following the removal of governments in Iraq and Libya, and how will you apply those lessons to a potential war in Syria? I might add that the implicit view espoused in most western publications on the subject is bullshit. There are no Syrian people rebelling against bloody handed tyrant* and his handful of henchmen (if only because there is no such thing as Syrian People). It's Sunni against Shia$, and if the Sunni win - they'll massacre all the Alawites & Christians, and start on the Shia in Lebanon (I wouldn't mind, but I'm not you).
*You wanted to see a bloody-handed tyrant, you should review Assad senior - of course, on his watch rebellions didn't last long. $ Yea, I know, Alawites are not really Shia, but for the Sunnis they're the same thing.

Russia stake in Syria? What is Russia's stake in Russia? What is the U.S. stake in Syria? What is Iran's stake? Who are our enemies in Syria? Who are our friends and who are we allied with?
Tucker Carlson interviewed Lindsay Graham (the ready warrior) the other night and Graham was inarticulate and muddled on the above questions--he sounded like he was drunk. McCain was interviewed by someone (can't remember who now) and he seemed ready to go to war with Syria but presented few good reasons.

Does it take that long for a serious Congress to strip state and local officials of immunity of office if they openly act or declared themselves in direct violation of federal immigration laws? When an illegal commits a felony against any member of the community, said citizen should have standing in federal courts to sue for damages. Tort lawyers rev up your TV spots!
[Zero Hedge] For months now we've warned, as have many prominent Republican legislators, that Obamacare is on the verge of collapse (see "Obamacare On "Verge Of Collapse" As Premiums Set To Soar Again In 2017").
It's not that shocking really as the fundamental concept behind the legislation made it doomed from the start. The idea was that, out of an abundance of compassion for their elders, young, healthy millennial families would fork up $10s of thousands of dollars each year to purchase health insurance they didn't really need. Those premiums would then be used to subsidize care for the elderly who consume more than their "fair share," to quote Obama.
Unfortunately, the basic math skills of our young millennials turned out to be better than the Obama administration had planned for and they figured out they were better off just paying the Obamacare tax to the IRS than paying the larger Obamacare 'tax' associated with buying a service they never use. This "adverse selection bias" left risk pools way worse than insurers planned, which drove premiums even higher, which forced even more young people to ditch their insurance and the cycle will continue until the system ultimately fails.
In fact, as we pointed out last week, Knoxville, TN could be ground zero for the Obamacare explosion as it's 40,000 residents live in a county that has been left with no healthcare options for the 2018 plan year after Humana pulled out of exchanges there.
And, with the fate of Obamacare all but sealed, you can imagine our shock to learn that several House Republicans are now apparently warming up to the legislation.
One such person is Patrick McHenry of North Carolina who says that any efforts of the Trump administration to lure votes from the Freedom Caucus by relaxing rules to allow insurance providers to charge people with pre-existing conditions higher premiums would be a "bridge too far" for some more moderate Republicans. Per The Hill:

The idea was that, out of an abundance of compassion for their elders, young, healthy millennial families would fork up $10s of thousands of dollars each year to purchase health insurance they didn't really need.
Originally, SS and Medicare were supposed to be in a lockbox. These were put into the mainstream budget and the Beltway Party has continued to rob from these funds for a long time to fund other pet projects. It is no surprise these Ponzi schemes didn't work--they never do for very long.
[PJ] WASHINGTON ‐ Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) said House Republicans should not have started with Obamacare as the first major issue to tackle in the new Congress, emphasizing that an infrastructure package and curing the opioid addition crisis would get more bipartisan support.
"I’ve told President Trump this, I’ve said you need some wins in the column and the bottom line is infrastructure. I don’t know a Democrat or Republican that doesn’t have an infrastructure problem ‐ that’s some commonality. I don’t know a Democrat or Republican that doesn’t have an addiction or an opioid problem; that’s something we could cure," Manchin said during the discussion "From the State Capitol to the Senate Floor" at The Atlantic’s recent Renewal Summit in D.C.
"It’s a silent killer. It doesn’t pick Democrats or Republicans or liberals or conservatives so once you find that and get a start ‐ we’ve been so far apart for so long we’ve got to find something that brings us together. Healthcare is not it. We know that, and why they went down that rat hole I have no idea," he added.

Isn't it funny how everyone suddenly wants to talk about Opoid addiction, which wasn't (to the powers that be) a noteworthy problem until the working class in the Northeast voted the wrong way?
#5
TSM, lots and lots of people noted the opioid addiction problem this past decade. Just that no one bothered to listen until now. Don't know if the election has anything to do with it or whether it's just reached critical mass.

Probably both Steve. Recently, I heard or read (maybe here) that opiate overdose has surpassed automotive deaths. When you mention this to people, most mention someone they know who has died of an overdose or someone who has a serious drug problem.
[PJ] Among the more disturbing questions emerging from the renewed use of gas by Bashar Assad is whether Barack Obama and his loyal minions (Kerry, Rhodes, Rice, etc.) actually knew the Syrian leader still had chemical weapons, even though they trumpeted the opposite to the American public on numerous occasions. Either they lied or were so extraordinarily credulous they believed -- apparently without verification -- the Syrians had truly rid themselves of those WMDs, in which case Obama -- not Trump -- was Vladimir Putin's personal "useful idiot."
(It may even be time to take a second look at the contention of some that Saddam transferred his chemical weapons to Syria way back when, which would be a surprise vindication of Bush 43.)
Whatever the case, it's "heavy water" under the bridge at this point, but should alert us even more to the absolute necessity of revealing everything known about the also Obama-instigated Iran Deal, all its myriad hidden codicils and clauses that remain mysterious to the citizens of this country in whose name they were allegedly signed. That agreement too could be the product of useful idiocy, a sucker punch from the mullahs. The devil, in this case, is very much in the details, few of which we know, except that the Iranians refused to give a baseline development level for their nuclear weapons program in this first place. In a sense, that made everything else moot.

[Washington Examiner] Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Friday that President Trump might not have defeated Hillary Clinton in November had the Supreme Court not been a major issue in the 2016 campaign.
In hindsight, the Kentucky Republican said, his decision to block former President Barack Obama from appointing a successor to the late Justice Antonin Scalia was probably the decisive factor in Trump's victory, given GOP voters' strong reservations about him.
McConnell spoke to the Washington Examiner just after Neil Gorsuch was confirmed to fill a vacant seat on the high court.

Well damn that came back to bite the Pubs in the ass. If they'd have let Obama do it, they'd have Hillary in the White House and they'd be happily into a war with Russia right now. Unintended consequences.

Phobia def.--"an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something." Islamophobia, well, you get it from above def. Suppose the fear is not irrational but well-founded? Or suppose you just have an aversion to that "Islam?"
Can we just get rid of this useless concept invented by CAIR to smooth over acceptance of Islam by the rest of the world; in light of all the terrible, destructive terrorism unleashed on the rest of the world by Islam?

At least 25 civilians have been killed since beginning of April on Abu Zaayan street, which is considered as one of the "safe routes" opened by Iraqi troops, IOHR said in a report on Sunday.
The report quoted Abu Omar al-Hayali, a displaced resident from western djinn-infested Mosul ... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn... who took to Abu Zaayan street, along with his and other families, to escape toward the troops, as saying "once we attempted escaping the IS-held regions, the snipers started targeting civilians."
"I saw a man and a woman in their twenties as they were rubbed out by a sniper," he said. "My family and I took shelter for twenty minutes behind a concrete wall to hide from the sniper. We were then able to pass the dangerous area with the help of Iraqi troops."
A journalist from Mosul, identifying himself with the pen-name Safaa Omar, told IOHR that the "safe passageways, that are still exposed to IS fires, are Nineveh public hospital route on al-Mahatta street and abu Zaayan street."
Meanwhile IOHR said that "Iraqi security troops make huge efforts to help civilians escape the battlefields, but they face the IS snipers. The troops assist dozens of families daily to reach safe places, however, some get killed or injured by bombs, mortar missiles or snipers."
A medical source, who offer urgent treatment for families displaced from the western side, said "treatment is offered daily to more than fifty maimed persons who were maimed during the displacement."

[Bangkok Post] Three more bombs, two of them unexploded, were found attached to high-voltage power poles on Saturday morning following a series of blasts and arson attacks that rocked Thailand's far South.
A team of explosive ordnance disposal officers rushed to the paddy field in Bacho district after local residents alerted police to their discovery. The EOD officers found a high-voltage power pole that had been uprooted by a bomb explosion. Metal and explosive materials were scattered around the area. A box containing a clock and wires attached to an electrical circuit was also found. About 200 meters away, the team found two unexploded bombs attached to another power pole.
Authorities on Saturday continued to survey other areas throughout the far South following a series of blasts in the four southernmost provinces from late Thursday night to early Friday. No casualties were reported in the bombings that damaged 52 power poles in 19 districts and caused widespread blackouts. During the same period, suspected insurgents also set fire to car tires at several locations and laid spikes on roads.

And we're supposed to believe a group that calls itself 'Islamic State' has nothing to do with Islam. Seems this guy is saying that if everyone strictly adhered to Islamic ideology there would be no terrorism. I guess if EVERYONE adhered to it... nah, then they'd just terrorize each other.
Brace Belden had been reading about Rojava, a large swath of northern Syria that had been carved out by a Kurdish political party and its military wing, the YPG (or People's Protection Units). The YPG had become one of the most effective bulwarks against ISIS and Western volunteers, many of them military veterans, had started enlisting. But Belden was less interested in the YPG's battlefield victories than in what it was trying to build: a semi-autonomous region operating under a more or less socialist system. To Belden, who’d identified as a Marxist since he was a teen, Rojava looked like Spain in 1936: Capitalism reigned supreme, and fascism was on the march, but here was an opportunity to halt the latter and foment revolution against the former. After several months of wondering whether he was truly prepared to kill for his political beliefs, and several more figuring out how to actually join a Kurdish militia, Belden told his girlfriend that he was going to Syria to do humanitarian work and got on a plane.

[SHABELLENEWS] Suspected Somali pirates have again hijacked a vessel on one of the world’s crucial trade routes, authorities said Saturday night, the latest in a string of attacks after several years of silence.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations piracy watchdog said on its website it had received a report from a vessel under attack and possibly boarded off the coast of war-ravaged Yemen. It gave no further details.
Somali pirates in recent weeks have hijacked at least two vessels with foreign crews in the waters off Somalia and Yemen, marking a return of the threat after half a decade.
A source with the ports ministry in Somalia’s northeastern semiautonomous state of Puntland ...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion... said armed pirates hijacked a ship flying under the Tuvalu flag and were steering it toward Somalia’s northern coast. The source spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to news hounds.
Graeme Gibbon Brooks, the CEO of the British firm Dryad Maritime, said security officials believed the vessel to be a bulk carrier.
A Somali pirate, Bile Hussein, said he was aware that pirates had managed to board a ship near Yemen’s Socotra island despite resistance from the crew.
Commander Jacqui Sherriff, a spokeswoman for the European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... anti-piracy mission off Somalia, said the mission was liaising with other authorities to investigate and, if the attack was confirmed, "our thoughts go out to the crew." The U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet, which oversees regional anti-piracy efforts from Bahrain, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The former director of the anti-piracy agency in Puntland, Abdirizak Mohammed Ahmed, said he had received information about the hijacking of a ship but could not give further details.
Earlier this month, officials said Somali pirates had seized a small boat and its 11 Indian crew members as the vessel passed through the narrow channel between Socotra Island and Somalia’s coast.
In March, Somali pirates hijacked a Comoros-flagged oil tanker, marking the first such seizure of a large commercial vessel since 2012. They later released the vessel and its Sri Lankan crew without conditions.
Pirates later seized a fishing trawler, which Somali authorities warned could be used for further piracy.
Piracy off Somalia’s coast was once a serious threat to the global shipping industry. It has lessened in recent years after an international effort to patrol near the country, whose weak central government has been trying to assert itself after a quarter-century of conflict. In December, NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis.... ended its anti-piracy mission off Somalia’s waters.

The group said in the statement that its member ’Abu al-Bara’ al-Masry’ blew up his boom belt in front of Saint Mark’s Cathedral in Alexandria Province, while another member, known as ’Abu Ishak al-Masry’ detonated his explosive vest "amid a gathering of crusaders’’ in Mar Girguis Church in the Egyptian city of Tanta.
Furthermore, in the statement, the terrorist group threatened, who it described as "crusaders and apostates" with more attacks.
The statement released by the Islamic State, revealing the identities of the suicide bombers who attacked the Egyptian churches.
Earlier today, during Palm Sunday celebrations, a suicide attack hit the Coptic Church of Mar Girguis, in the Egyptian city of Tanta, killing 30 persons and injuring more than 70 others.
Nearly four hours later, another suicide attack hit Saint Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Alexandria Province, killing 17 persons, including the church security members, and wounding 35 others.
Following the attacks, the Islamic State group released a statement via its website ’Amaq’ claiming responsibility for the attacks on the Egyptian churches.
[AlAhram] The total number of casualties in the two attacks climbed to 47 dead and 126 injured, in the deadliest murderous Moslem attack against civilians in decades.
Egypt’s president Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi declared a state of emergency nationwide on Sunday after attacks by suspected jacket wallahs on two different Egyptian churches killed dozens and injured scores, in the deadliest recent attack against the country’s Christians.
On Palm Sunday morning, a bomb went kaboom! inside Mar Girgis Church in the Delta city of Tanta, killing at least 27 and injuring 78 others, according to health ministry figures.

[Gulf Today] Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte again ordered the military to wipe out the Abu Sayyaf which he said has remained one of the nation's major threats. Duterte issued the order during his visit to a military camp in the capital town of Jolo, Sulu to award medals to the 28 soldiers injured in a recent clash with the Abu Sayyaf.
In his order, Duterte pointed out the campaign against the terrorist group should be treated equally with the war on illegal drugs which he launched after he became president in June 1016. He said, "We will not let up in the war on drugs and the Abu Sayyaf. They would not honor their word. If they like to kill, then, we’lll kill them up to the last men," in his speech before local officials and ranking military officers.
In a briefing, the military informed Duterte that the Abu Sayyaf has divided their 19 remaining foreign and Filipino hostages into five groups to elude pursuing security forces.
Earlier Duterte ordered the military to use all available resources including recently-acquired Philippine Air Force attack helicopters to launch a search and destroy operation against the terrorist group.

[Reuters] Six Islamic militants killed in a standoff with police were planning to attack police officers in Indonesia's East Java province to seek revenge for the arrest of a radical leader. Authorities said on Sunday the men were cornered in a village in Tuban district on Saturday after attempting to shoot a traffic cop who was approaching them when he saw their car stopped at the roadside, said national police spokesman Rikwanto.
The six refused appeals to surrender during a standoff that lasted several hours and were slain by police, said Rikwanto.
On Friday, counterterrorism police arrested three militants who were allegedly plotting to attack a police station in East Java. Among those arrested was Zainal Anshori, a top figure of Jemaah Anshorut Daulah, an umbrella group of Indonesian extremists that claims allegiance to ISIS.
Rikwanto said that Anshori had orchestrated Saturday's planned attack. He said, "They had acted on Anshori's order as a revenge of his arrest," citing police interrogation of other arrested militants.

[DAWN] Imam-e-Ka’aba Sheikh Saleh Mohammad bin Talib on Saturday held separate meetings with President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf... and discussed with them relations between Pakistain and Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... and challenges facing Moslems across the globe.
Both the president and the prime minister welcomed the Imam-e-Ka’aba and said Pakistain and Saudi Arabia were brotherly countries and their people had great religious and cultural relations. Relations between the two countries had become closer and stronger, they added.
They said Islam is the religion of peace and called for making concerted efforts to remove misconceptions about it.
President Hussain called for establishing an international group, comprising Ulema and religious scholars who should present the true picture of Islam in order to arrest the trend of extremism, said a blurb.
He said the people and the government of Pakistain had great regard for Saudi Arabia which had always supported Pakistain on all important issues at regional and international forums, including the kingdom’s support to Pakistain on the Kashmire dispute.

A short, quick jab to the nose should fix that.
Personally, I'm all for removing misconceptions about Islam. I'll believe Islam is "the religion of peace" when Muslims are the people tackling suicide bombers and ratting out the radicals in the mosques.

Islam isn't a "religion" nor do its adherents belong to any single "race". Its an *ideology*, and a poisonous one at that. Its more peaceful ones deserve mockery, and its more violent ones extermination.

The confrontations so far resulted in the killing of more than 30 suicide bombers belonging to the Islamic State, Fadel added.

[DAILYCALLER] A history professor at California State University, Fresno, appears to have advocated for the death of President Donald Trump on Twitter.
Tweets from an account purportedly operated by Professor Lars Maischak call for Trump to “hang” in order to “save American democracy,” and say the only “cure” for racist people is a bullet to their head. The account is not verified, although the bio and interactions between the user and other Twitter users indicate it belongs to the professor.
“To save American democracy, Trump must hang,” Professor Lars Maischak appears to have tweeted in February. “The sooner and the higher, the better. #TheResistance #DeathToFascism.”
“Has anyone started soliciting money and design drafts for a monument honoring the Trump assassin, yet?” the user wrote in another tweet a few days later, along with the hashtag “TheResistance.”
And in another: “#TheResistance #ethniccleansing Justice = The execution of two Republicans for each deported immigrant.”
The user has also said “mercy towards racists” is a “fatal weakness” of Americans.
“#TheResistance Mercy towards racists was always the fatal weakness of good Americans,” he tweeted. “1865, 1965, they left too many of them alive.”
Other tweets include thoughts on “fascist” Trump supporters and the GOP.
“#WhenCaliforniaSecedes, You Fascist Trump-voting white trash scum can wallow in your filthy hell-holes of flyover states,” he tweeted. “Enjoy.”
“#TheResistance A democracy must not be tolerant of those who want to abolish democracy. It must vigorously defend itself. Ban the @GOP.”
The user also compared Trump to Hitler in other tweets.
The account has existed since June, 2013.
Maischak did not reply to multiple requests for comment.
A spokeswoman for CSU Fresno told The Daily Caller News Foundation Maischak’s comments on social media do not represent the university.
“Lars Maischak is employed as a lecturer at Fresno State,” Kathleen Schock told TheDCNF. “Statements made on his personal social media accounts are his alone and are not endorsed by or reflect the position of the University.”

Advocated? I hope this nutjob has had a visit from the Secret Service to explain things to him such as what are 1st Amendment rights and what is over the line.
[snip]
Earlier, we reported that Lars Maischak, a history teacher at Fresno State, issued a tweet in which he said that President Trump must be hanged to “save American democracy.” The Fresno Bee published a puff piece on Saturday wringing its collective hands that Breitbart.com published a report on his offensive tweet, which prompted Maishak to declare that he really doesn’t want Trump harmed or assassinated. But he wasn’t finished, suggesting that a death sentence against Trump is “inevitable” if “democracy prevails.”

[RT] A middle-aged man steered his car into the town hall in Verden, northern Germany on Sunday. A fire broke out and severely damaged the building. The cause of the incident is under investigation, but authorities have ruled out a terrorist attack.
It’s believed that the incident, which involved a 47-year-old male, was directed against the government in Lower Saxony, DPA reported.
"A terrorist attack has been ruled out," police said. It took firefighters about an hour and a half to put out the blaze.
And thus we see that terror has now been redefined to mean What a Muslim did this time to advance the conquest of any particular corner of Dar al Harb.
"The flames spread to adjacent rooms on the ground floor [of the town hall]," police reported.
No one was injured in the incident, which took place early on Sunday. The man was placed in durance vile Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up! at the scene.
Police said that while his "motives are still unclear, they most likely seem to be related to personal matters."

[DAWN] LANDI KOTAL: A private girls school in Bara subdivision was targeted with a bomb, causing minor damage to the building.
Officials said explosives were planted inside a classroom which went off at midnight causing minor damage to a wall of the room. They said no one was present at the time of the incident, adding at least 19 suspected persons had been rounded up during a search operation conducted following the incident.
However, man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them... no one grabbed credit for the blast.
Recently, hard boyz affiliated with banned Lashkar-e-Islam ...a group of Islamic bandidos infesting Khyber Agency. It's headed by a former bus driver.... had also targeted a government girls school in a similar fashion in Shalobar area.

[Iraq News] Hundreds of Christians flocked to the Iraqi town of Qaraqosh on Sunday to celebrate Palm Sunday for the first time in three years, packing into a church torched by Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... to take communion at its ruined altar.
In October, Iraqi forces expelled the Sunni Moslemforces of Evil from Qaraqosh as part of a campaign to retake nearby djinn-infested Mosul ... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn... , the country’s second-largest city seized by the group in June 2014.
Iraq’s biggest Christian settlement until the forces of Evil arrived, Qaraqosh has been a ghost town as most residents are still too afraid to come back with the battle for Mosul, located 20 kilometres away, still raging.
But on Sunday church bells rang again across the town.
Hundreds arrived in cars from Erbil, the main city in autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan where most Christian had fled when Islamic State gave them an ultimatum to pay special taxes, convert or die.
"We need reconciliation," Syriac Catholic Archbishop of Mosul Butrus Moshe told worshippers in the Immaculate Conception Church guarded by army jeeps.
Islamic State has targeted minority communities in both Iraq and Syria, setting churches on fire.
Scribbled "Islamic State" slogans could be still seen on the church’s walls while torn-up prayer books littered the floor.

[Iraq News] Nouri al-Maliki, leader of the Iraqi Shi’ite political party of Dawa, said they will endorse the outcome of the Kurdistan Region independence referendum provided that the referendum does not include Kirkuk province, according to Iraqi media.
Iraqi local news outlets have reported that Maliki, who is also the Iraqi VP, has stated that they will approve the result of the referendum for the Kurdistan Region independence if the process is held only in the three Kurdish provinces of Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Duhok.
He has stated that the referendum cannot be conducted in Kirkuk, ... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time... claiming that it is an Arabic city.
However, the hip bone's connected to the leg bone... Salah Dalo, a Kurdish official from the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), told BasNews that Maliki does not have the right to intervene in the Kurdistan Region’s affairs.
He stated that the referendum will include all the disputed areas within the Article 140 of the Iraqi constitution, stressing that the referendum will be held this year.
The Kurdish official described Maliki’s remarks as an attempt to cover his failures and gain Arab public support.

[DAWN] Six people were killed and more than two dozen injured on Sunday when police clashed with protesters during a by-election in Srinagar in India-held Kashmire region, a senior police official said.
Suspected separatist factions in Kashmire had called for a boycott of the vote, resulting in heightened security and low voter turnout when the polling began.
In Budgam district, police initially used tear gas against protesters who were throwing stones, but then opened fire, killing six people, the senior police official told Rooters.
More than two dozen people were maimed during the festivities across central Kashmire on Sunday, the official said.
At least 70 polling stations were shut due to the violence, while at some stations voting machines were set ablaze by the protesters.
The by-election in Srinagar is being held to fill a vacant seat in the Lok Sabha, India's lower house of parliament. A second by-election in the state for a separate Lok Sabha seat is set to take place on April 12 in Anantnag. The results of both polls are expected to be announced on April 15.

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Afghan defense officials reacted at the allegations of a Pak official regarding the alleged destructive role of India, calling it as baseless.
General Dawlat Waziri, front man for the Ministry of Defense in response to the allegations of the Pak official, said that New Delhi has no military presence in Afghanistan, rejecting the misunderstanding of Islamabad claiming that the country is fuelling anti-Pakistain feelings with its presence in Afghanistan.
He said India is only providing training and study opportunities to the Afghan army cadets and that New Delhi has military presence in Afghanistan.
Pakistain’s Defence Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif, on Thursday, said that the state was serious about improving relations between Pakistain and Afghanistan.
Speaking to a private news channel, the minister claimed the strained relations between the two countries was due to Indian influence on Afghanistan’s side, according to The Express Tribune newspaper.
India has played a major role in the reconstruction of Afghanistan since the fall of the Taliban regime and has invested over $2 billion in various reconstruction and infrastructure projects.
The construction of the major Salma Dam, the new Afghan parliament building, Zaranj-Delaram highway, and some other projects are among the key investments India has done so far in the country.

Financial malfeasance and graft are much easier when dodgy accounting is used. When finished here, perhaps the doctor's audit team could visit other agencies within the giverment as well.
I recommend a modest financial incentive be extended the audit team when gross "eorrors" such as this are validated.

[RT] Germany has launched an investigation into 275 cases of suspected right-wing myrmidon activity among its service personnel, including racist comments on the Internet and saying "Heil Hitler," Germany’s Defense Ministry told parliament in a letter, according to local media.
Germany’s Counter-Intelligence Service (MAD) is looking into 53 extremism cases among Bundeswehr soldiers from 2017, 143 cases from 2016 and 79 cases from before 2016, the Defense Ministry said in a letter to the Bundestag, DPA news agency reported, citing Funke Mediengruppe newspapers.
The 15-page letter expands on the cases that involve soldiers making gestures used in Nazi Germany along with the "Heil Hitler" phrase, and verbally abusing fellow servicemen with a migrant background, Rooters reported, citing the document.
A number of implicated soldiers have already been laid off or punished with a fine, but the measures seem inadequate to the offense, the Defense Ministry said.
Specifically, Case 29 deals with a soldier who was heard distinctively saying "Heil Hitler,""Heil our leader" and "Sieg Heil, comrades."
"The case was passed on to the military prosecutor and the public prosecutor’s office, but neither an early dismissal nor a service ban took place," the ministry said.
In another case a soldier who used a Facebook page associated with the far-right National Democratic Party (NPD) left racist comments and call to introduce the death penalty for "typical foreigners." As a consequence, the soldier was "disciplined," the minister noted.
In a third case, another already "disciplined" serviceman was allowed to keep his weapon after he extended his hand in a Nazi salute while on a trip to Riga, Latvia.
Today in Germany, Nazi salutes in all forms ‐ written, uttered or even performed as a gesture ‐ are outlawed and are punishable by up to three years in prison as stated in the German Criminal Code.
In August 2016, the German Cabinet has approved an amendment to the German military law that allowed the MAD intelligence service to thoroughly check each applicant for possible connections to terrorist or myrmidon groups. The amendment is supposed to come into force on July 1, 2017.

[RT] The prime suspect in an international $300 million telefraud scam that targeted American taxpayers has been tossed in the calaboose Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try! by police at Mumbai International Airport. Sagar Thakkar, 24, was taken into custody in the early hours of Saturday morning as he stepped off a flight from Dubai, where he had been on the hiding out from Indian authorities for several months, Rooters reported, citing local police sources.
Thakkar is the suspected leader of a major international telefraud syndicate that operated in the US and India.
Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh told a news conference that Thakkar, who was charged as part of the ongoing DOJ investigation, had fled to Dubai following raids in October related to the case, Rooters reported.
When asked about his interrogation of the suspect, Singh told news hounds that he was "impressed with his knowledge of the US and Indian system" while also confirming that Thakkar had confessed to the crime.
The DOJ’s indictment alleges that the suspected conspirators posed as federal officials working for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS ...the Internal Revenue Service; that office of the United States government that collects taxes and persecutes the regime's political enemies... ) or other agencies and threatened victims with arrest, fines, imprisonment or even deportation if they did not pay the fake taxes or penalties.
The Justice Department claims that over 15,000 people have been targeted in the telephonic scam which has taken place for over a year.
A major breakthrough in the case came in October, when Indian authorities raided call centers in the Mumbai suburb of Thane and the western city of Ahmedabad, detaining over 700 suspects in the process.
The US Justice Department charged more than 60 people in India and the United States in connection with the case as a direct result of the raids.
Some 400 suspects have been officially charged by Thane police as part of their own investigation with roughly a dozen already in jug.
A video of one such scam posted online by the Eau Claire Police Department in the US has been shared over 190,000 times.

[Iraq News] Some 484 Yezidi members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) have left the party and joined Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Peshmerga forces, said a Peshmerga commander.
During an interview with the Turkish Anadolu agency on Sunday, Luqman Gli, a commander of Peshmerga, said these new recruits have been receiving training since March.
According to the official, they left PKK following the events in Khanasor parish of Sinjar.
On March 3, 2017, festivities erupted between Peshmerga and PKK affiliated guerrillas in Sinjar which ended with some causalities.
Since the restoration of a relative security in Sinjar and its surroundings, KRG has been calling on PKK to withdraw from the area but the Kurdish party from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... is buttressing its stance by recruiting locals in its newly founded units.

[SHABELLENEWS] The newly appointed Somalia’s military chief Gen Mohammed Ahmed Jimale Irfid has narrowly escaped a suicide car kaboom in Mogadishu on Sunday, April 9.
Witnesses said a bomber drove his explosives-laden vehicle a convoy that General Irfid was traveling in the vicinity of the country’s defense ministry headquarters in the capital.
The blast destroyed a bus ferrying civilians after missing the General’s convoy.
Al-Shabaab ... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda... , the Al Qaeda-linked holy warrior group grabbed credit for the attack.
The passenger bus was completely destroyed by the powerful bomb, killing all on-board. So far, at least 15 people were reported to have been killed in the blast.
Pictures taken from the scene showed a pool of blood under the vehicle and burning debris littered on the ground following the suicide kaboom.
The army chief was returning from a handover ceremony held at the defense ministry compound, where to took power from his predecessor at the time of the attack.

[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] The Prime Minister of Sweden has vowed his country will 'never go back' to recent levels of mass immigration after it emerged the terrorist who killed four people in a truck attack was a failed asylum seeker. A nation of dumbasses. It doesn't matter what your intentions are. What matters is whether the other bastard hates you.
Stefan Löfven pledged to change his country's liberal attitude, insisting the massive influx allowed during the 2015 migrant crisis would never happen again. You can betcher booty the dumbasses will be up in arms over his "intolerance."
Rakhmat Akilov, from Uzbekistan, hijacked the lorry and deliberately drove into pedestrians on central Stockholm's main shopping street on Friday afternoon.
It was a copycat of the attack carried out in London last month, when Khalid Masood killed four pedestrians and injured dozens more with a Hyundai 4x4. Swedish police said there were clear similarities.
Akilov is thought to have carried out reconnaissance along his route days earlier.
Four were killed and 15 injured when he drove a 30-ton truck down a pedestrianised area and smashed into a department store. Chris Bevington, a 41-year-old father-of-two from Britannia, was killed close to his office.
But it emerged yesterday Swedish authorities had given Akilov four weeks to leave Sweden after his final asylum appeal failed in December.
He was being sought by police and immigration officials for deportation ‐ but evaded them simply by giving a false address.
'Sweden will never go back to the [mass migration] we had in autumn 2015, never,' Mr Löfven said yesterday.
'Everyone who has been denied a permit should return home.
'This makes me feel enormously frustrated. If you have been denied a visa you are supposed to leave the country.'
He added: 'Terrorists want us to be afraid, want us to change our behaviour, want us to not live our lives normally, but that is what we're going to do.
'Terrorists can never defeat Sweden, never.'
There are more than 3,000 migrants colonists living unlawfully in Stockholm alone, police said.
Akilov, 39, had expressed support for Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. Anjem was born in the UK in 1967 and is, as you would expect, of Pakistaini descent. The Ghost of Dante is of the opinion that when he goes to hell his knees will be broken once a month... Akilov reportedly told police that he carried out the attack on the orders of Islamic State.
He allegedly said: 'The bombings in Syria must stop,' a Swedish newspaper reported.
Akilov has allegedly confessed to the attack and told Sherlocks he was 'pleased with what he had done' and had 'accomplished what he set out to do', it was claimed.
Police sources said a bomb, found in the truck but which failed to detonate, contained gas canisters, chemicals and nails.

[RT] British Defence Secretary Michael Fallon has backed the Putin-done-it conspiracy theorists in an article published by The Sunday Times.
"By proxy, Russia is responsible for every civilian death last week," he wrote in reference to the alleged gas attack in Idlib which killed at least 58 people.
Fallon’s argument rests on one of the two competing conspiracy theories promulgated by MSM outlets about the attack.
The first theory is that Trump was baited by a false flag attack into a foreign war, while the second alleges that Russian President Vladimir Putin ...Second and fourth President and sixth of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. Putin is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from polonium poisoning. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to Putin. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead... himself ordered a chemical weapons attack in Syria to distract from the investigation into Russian ties with the Trump cabinet.
Commentators claim that calls for evidence to support such theories is actually part of some intricate geopolitical chess game.
Conspiracy theories used to be relegated to tinfoil hat-wearing basement dwellers, but now everyone from politicians of some of the world’s most powerful nations to MSM outlets have drunk the Kool-Aid, it seems.
MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell took to Twitter Friday to offer his own unique take on the Syria attack before elaborating further on his network television show later that night.
"Wouldn't it be nice, if it was just completely, totally, absolutely impossible to suspect that Vladimir Putin orchestrated what happened in Syria this week -- so that his friend in the White House could have a big night with missiles and all the praises he's picked up over the past 24 hours?" O’Donnell asked the audience of The Last Word Friday.
O’Donnell then drew comparisons with a similar false flag narrative that was spun by Republicans during Bill Clinton ...former Democratic president of the U.S. Bill was the second U.S. president to be impeached, the first to deny that oral sex was sex, the first to have difficulty with the definition of is... ’s presidency which alleged that the embattled president launched missile attacks in Afghanistan and Sudan in August 1998 to distract from the ongoing Monica Lewinski sex scandal.
Obvious compairsons were drawn with the newly released film Wag the dog in which a White House advisor creates a fictitious war with Albania to distract the American people from an ongoing scandal.
However, if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning... in the absence of any evidence to back up his claims, O’Donnell instead deftly retreated to one of two possible logical fallacies: an argument from ignorance or shifting the burden of proof. "You won't hear ... proof that the scenario I've just outlined is impossible," the host proudly stated, without a hint of self-awareness.
"It changes the conventional wisdom about the dynamic between President Trump and Vladimir Putin," O'Donnell added.
The blame game also extends to alternative media sources, in a further attempt to muddy the waters rather than focus on fact and evidence when covering or responding to a story.

Yes. That way nobody gets hurt and the US government can get on with its business. I like it. I especially like the part where Scott Pelley and his MSM colleagues are no longer blathering every damn night about the Russians hacking our election in favor of Trump. It's such a relief. Now we have a new SCOTUS justice, we can pass a budget with tax relief, we can build a wall, etc. Good job, Vlad.

Well, Clinton was having an affair with Monica just down the hall from Hillary while in the WH at the time. These apparatchiks (read as Donk Party water carriers or hacks) just can't let go of this meme that "The Russians did it," despite a complete lack of evidence to support the meme. I'm gonna support the meme that the Donks have a lot to hide during the "O" and Hillary administration regarding links with Russia. I'll go with write-off as dissembling and distraction by the Donks.

[Iraq News] Conflicts among Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... fighters have been reported after nominating Abu Hafsa al-Mawsely, the group’s deputy commander of the "Nineveh State", to succeed His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi ...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us... , intelligence sources in djinn-infested Mosul ... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn... said.
IS leaders and fighters are witnessing conflicts and divisions after the group’s shura council nominated ِAbu Hafsa to succeed Baghdadi, the sources said on Sunday.
Abu Hafsa is known to be one of the violent members and a senior politician of the group. He occupied several important military and administrative positions within the group.
The leaders, according to the sources, were divided between supporters and opponents to nomination of abu Hafsa.
Chief of staff at the Kurdistan Region Presidency (KRP) Fuad Hussein previously revealed information about the way through which Baghdadi could have beat feet from Mosul.
In an interview earlier this month with the Independent, Hussein said Baghdadi beat feet from Mosul two months ago when the road to the west was opened in the wake of a fierce attack launched by the Lion of Islams. IS "used 17 suicide boom-mobiles from Mosul and some of their units from Syria to clear the road leading out of Mosul for a few hours."
Baghdadi addressed his supporters at areas that IS controls, a local source from the province said in February. Baghdadi urged fighters to flee urban areas and resort to mountains after admitting defeat to U.S.-backed Iraqi forces and militias fighting to retake the city of Mosul in his ’farewell speech’.
Baghdadi’s exact whereabouts have been unknown for long time. In June 2014, Baghdadi was declared "the caliph" and "leader for Moslems everywhere".
Iraqi forces have made remarkable gains after a new offensive started in February to retake western Mosul. The eastern side was recaptured from IS in January.

[AFP] Two traffic policemen were killed on Saturday after their vehicle came under fire in Russia'S north Caucasus region.
The local branch of Russia’s Investigative Committee said "unidentified people fired multiple shots from an automatic weapon" at two traffic cops riding in their patrol vehicle in the town of Malgobek in Ingushetia at around 1:30 a.m. One of the policemen was killed at the scene, while the second officer died in hospital from his injuries, police said.
Attacks against police are not uncommon in the north Caucasus, which faces an active Islamist insurgency.
The latest incident came days after the ISIS Takfiri group claimed the killing of two other traffic policemen in the southern Russian city of Astrakhan this week. ISIS also claimed a separate attack that injured three National Guard officers on Thursday in an incident in which the assailant thought to be involved in the death of the Astrakhan traffic policemen was gunned down.
Astrakhan lies several hundred kilometers northeast of the restive north Caucasus, and attacks against law enforcement are less common there.
[IsraelTimes] Officials unsure if 17-year-old planned to use defused device to carry out attack.
A 17-year-old asylum-seeker from Russia was placed in durance vile Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'! Sunday in connection with an bomb found near a busy subway station in Norway’s capital that police defused before it detonated, authorities said.
The youth was detained on suspicion of handling explosives, but Sherlocks do not know if he planned to carry out an attack with the homemade device, Signe Aaling, chief prosecutor for Norway’s PST security service, said.
Aaling described the explosive as "a primitive improvised bomb with limited damage potential."
"PST is now working on finding his intentions and find out whether others are involved," she said.
The youth was not identified, but security service head Benedicte Bjornland said Norwegian intelligence was aware of him. He is an asylum-seeker from Russia who arrived in Norway with his family in 2010, Bjornland said.
Bjornland also alleged that the youth was part of "extreme Islamism" circles in Norway. He was arrested based on a tip from the public, Bjornland said without elaborating.
"It is likely that that attacks in La Belle France, German, Great Britannia, Russia and Sweden can create a copycat effect in Norway with people with Islamic sympathies," Bjornland said, listing the locations of holy warrior attacks that have devastated Europe in the last year.
"The attacks demonstrate how easy such attacks can be carried out, and prove to others that it is possible to make something similar," she added.
The teenage suspect’s lawyer, Aase Karine Sigmond, told Norwegian broadcaster NRK that her client denies wrongdoing and had distanced himself from the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. They said eight Islamic State fighters and four of their own men died.
An attack at midnight on a heavily defended base near the al Tanf border crossing involved at least one explosive-laden vehicle that rammed an entrance to the base. At least two U.S.-backed rebels were killed and scores maimed, a rebel source said.
The bandidossnuffies also staged a suicide attack on a convoy of rebel fighters from the Western-backed Osoud al Sharqiya rebel group, who had sent reinforcements from their outpost near the Rukban refugee camp further south-west. Two of the fighters in the convoy were killed in the ambush.
Islamic State "staged a suicide attack and there were festivities inside Tanf. Two were killed and several injured. They also attacked our convoy but it’s over and matters are under control," said a senior rebel source from Osoud al Sharqiya who requested anonymity.
Islamic State-affiliated Amaq news agency said two suicide attacks were conducted by its fighters near Tanf on "positions of Syrian groups supported by America." It gave no details.
U.S.-led coalition planes were involved in the operation to track down the bandidossnuffies who staged the hit-and-run attack and apparently fled, a rebel commander involved in the operation said.
Both Tanf and Rukban are near the joint Syria-Iraq-Jordan border. Osoud al Sharqiya, one of the main groups in that area fighting Islamic State, is part of the Free Syrian Army ... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund... of rebels financed and equipped by a Western coalition.

[DAWN] The Moslem world must form an ’Islamic United Nations ...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense... ’ to counter the proxy war thrust on the Islamic states by the colonial powers and the enemies of Islam, says Jamaat-e-Islami ...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores... Emir Senator Sirajul Haq ...current head of the Pak Jamaat-e-Islami. Siraj was born in 1962 and entered politics shortly after that... Commenting on the use of chemical weapons in Syria and the subsequent US missile attack there, he said the tyranny of Bashar al Asad on the Syrians was not something new as his father had also killed hundreds of thousands of Syrian Moslems and had set numerous habitations on fire.
Sirajul Haq said the arms and ammunition being manufactured in the West were being tested on the Moslem countries. The US, he said, had ransacked Iraq after accusing Saddam Husain of having WMDs (weapons of mass destruction) and put to death thousands of Iraqis Moslems. Subsequently, the US and NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Originally it was a mutual defense pact directed against an expansionist Soviet Union. In later years it evolved into a mechanism for picking the American pocket while criticizing the cut of the American pants... forces attacked Afghanistan and killed hundreds of thousands of Afghans.
The JI chief said the colonial powers were repeating the same story in Kashmire, Burma, Paleostine and Syria, "but unfortunately the attitude of the Moslem rulers is deplorable."
Haq said in the prevailing situation, it was the duty of the Moslem rulers to sit together and chalk out a common line of action to foil the enemy designs and for the security of each and every Moslem. He said in Arakan (Burma), the Moslems’ habitations and mosques and madressahs were being torched. Hundreds of Rohingya Moslems were being killed in Arakan every day but the United Nations and human rights ...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions... bodies were silent.
