3 sons and 3 grandchildren of Haniyeh killed in Israeli airstrike in Gaza
[An Nahar] Three sons and three grandchildren of Hamas
...not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...
' top political leader were killed Wednesday by an Israeli Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
in the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip, and the leader accused Israel of acting in "the spirit of Dire Revenge and murder."

Ismail Haniyeh
...became Prime Minister of Gaza after the legislative elections of 2006 which Hamas won. President Mahmoud Abbas dismissed Haniyeh from office on 14 June 2007 at the height of the Fatah-Hamas festivities, but Haniyeh did not acknowledge the decree and continues as the PM of Gazoo while Abbas maintains a separate PM in the West Bank...
's sons are among the highest-profile figures to be killed in the war so far. It was not immediately clear how their deaths might affect the monthslong cease-fire talks being brokered by international mediators, though Haniyeh said Hamas would not cave in to the pressure.

The Israeli military said the men conducted bully boy activity in central Gaza, without elaborating.

Haniyeh confirmed the deaths in an interview with the al-Jazeera satellite channel, saying his sons "were martyred on the road to liberating Jerusalem and the al-Aqsa Mosque."

"The criminal enemy is driven by the spirit of Dire Revenge and murder and does not value any standards or laws," he said in the phone interview.

The Israeli military described the three siblings as a cell commander and two military operatives.

In his interview with al-Jazeera, Haniyeh said the killings would not pressure Hamas into softening its positions.

"The enemy believes that by targeting the families of the leaders, it will push them to give up the demands of our people," he said. "Anyone who believes that targeting my sons will push Hamas to change its position is delusional."

Haniyeh lives in exile in Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
, where al-Jazeera is based. Hamas' al-Aqsa TV station aired footage of Haniyeh receiving the news of the deaths while visiting maimed Paleostinians who have been transported to a hospital in Doha. As an aide received the news on his phone, Haniyeh nodded, looked down at the ground and slowly walked out of the room.

"There is no might and no power but by God," Haniyeh muttered. "May God make matters easy for them."

Al-Aqsa TV said Hazem, Ameer and Mohammed Haniyeh were killed with family members in the strike near the Shati refugee camp in Gaza City. Ismail Haniyeh is originally from Shati.

The brothers were traveling with family members in a single vehicle targeted by an Israeli drone, al-Aqsa TV said, adding that a total of six people were killed, including a daughter of Hazem Haniyeh and a son and daughter of Ameer.

Earlier, Israeli war cabinet minister Benny Gantz claimed Hamas has been defeated militarily, although he also said Israel will fight it for years to come.

"From a military point of view, Hamas is defeated. Its fighters are eliminated or in hiding" and its capabilities "crippled," Gantz said in a statement to the media in Sderot.

But he added: "Fighting against Hamas will take time. Boys who are now in middle school will still fight in the Gaza Strip."

Gantz reiterated the Israeli government's commitment to go into Rafah, the city at the far southern tip of the Gaza Strip where more than half the territory's 2.3 million people are now sheltering. "Wherever there are terrorist targets — the IDF will be there," he said, referring to the Israeli military.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Rocket fired at Kiryat Shmona as UN peacekeepers on Lebanon border fear escalation
[IsraelTimes] IDF says it intercepted missile heading for northern border town; Lebanese man accused of funneling Iranian cash to Hamas found dead; UNIFIL urges diplomatic solution

The Israel Defense Forces said Wednesday it had intercepted a rocket fired from Leb
...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
at the northern border city of Kiryat Shmona, as United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
peacekeepers stationed along border warned that the ongoing violence between Israel and terror group Hezbollah could dangerously escalate.

The incoming missile was shot down by the Iron Dome air defense system, the IDF said.

Sirens sounded in Kiryat Shmona and nearby communities, though there were no reports of damage or injuries.

The head of the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon expressed worries that hostilities on the border with Israel will continue to spiral out of control, calling for a diplomatic solution to the conflict.

"The danger of escalation is real," Aroldo Lazaro said in a statement posted by UNIFIL. "There is no military solution to the current confrontation and violence; a political and diplomatic solution is the only way forward."

The statement did not mention Hezbollah’s violations of UN Resolution 1701, which requires that the group’s armed wing not be allowed to operate in southern Lebanon.

One final detail on the story seen here and here yesterday:

… It appears Nili continues its work. Sarur likely provided financing for Hamas' October 7 massacre, as Sarur was in charge of all money transfers from the IRGC's Quds Force to Hamas' military wing?

Europe
EU parliament approves new policies that make migration, asylum harder
[UNDEFINED] European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
politicians approved Wednesday a major revamp of the bloc’s migration laws, hoping to end years of division over how to manage the entry of thousands of people without authorization and deprive the far right of a vote-winning campaign issue ahead of June elections.

In a series of 10 votes, members of the European Parliament endorsed the regulations and policies that make up the Pact on Migration and Asylum. The reforms address the thorny issue of who should take responsibility for migrants colonists when they arrive and whether other EU countries should be obliged to help.

The proceedings were briefly interrupted by a small but noisy group of demonstrators in the public gallery who wore shirts marked "this pact kills" and shouted "vote no!"

The 27 EU member countries must now endorse the reform package, possibly in a vote in late April, before it can take effect.

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, a former lead politician on migration who helped pave the way for the reform package, posted "History made," on X, formerly Twitter, after the votes.

"It has been more than 10 years in the making. But we kept our word. A balance between solidarity and responsibility. This is the European way," she wrote.

German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser described the result as a "major and very important success."

"After years of tough negotiations, we have agreed on this comprehensive package. We have thus overcome a deep division in Europe," said Faeser, whose country has been a top destination for people seeking refuge, in a written statement.

"We continue to protect people fleeing terrible wars, terror, torture and murder. But this responsibility for refugees will be spread across more shoulders in future," she added.

The plan was drawn up after 1.3 million people, mostly those fleeing war in Syria and Iraq, sought refuge in Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
in 2015. The EU’s asylum system collapsed, reception centers were overwhelmed in Greece and Italia, and countries further north built barriers to stop people entering.

But few have admitted to being happy with the new policy response to one of Europe’s biggest political crises, and even the politicians who drafted parts of the new regulations are unwilling to support the entire reform package.

"I’m not going to open a bottle of champagne after this," Dutch politician Sophie i’nt Veld, who drew up the assembly’s position on migrant reception conditions, told news hounds on the eve of the plenary session in Brussels.

The Iran-aligned group attacked the ships MSC Darwin, MSC GINA and MV Yorktown, along with the US destroyer, the group’s military front man Yahya Sarea said in a televised speech.

There were no immediate reports that any of the ships had suffered damage.

The US military said on Tuesday that it had destroyed an inbound anti-ship ballistic missile over the Gulf of Aden that was launched by Houthis and likely targeting the MV Yorktown.

There were no injuries or damage reported to US, coalition, or fat merchantmen in that incident, the US Central Command added.

American Woman Dies Following Brawl in San Pedro
[EDITION.CHANNEL5BELIZE] An American woman died following a brawl she was involved in on La Isla Bonita over the weekend. A postmortem examination is expected to determine whether she died from injuries received during the fight or the accident that led to the brawl.

The victim, forty-six-year-old Jennifer Lynn Griffith, was in the passenger seat of the golf cart that her husband, forty-one-year-old Maynor Rene Ancona, was driving when they crashed into El Norte Bar on Saturday night. That accident led to an altercation between the couple and the bar’s employees. It was during that fight that one of the employees threw a conch shell at Griffith, hitting her on the head. She was taken to the hospital but refused medical care, discharging herself. The pain in her head returned a day later, when she was rushed to the hospital, where she succumbed. Police Commissioner Chester Williams briefed the media this morning.

[ABC] O.J. Simpson, the former football great who was accused of and ultimately acquitted of the brutal 1994 slayings of his ex-wife and her friend, has died, according to his family. He was 76.
Search for the "real killer" finally ends.
"On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace," a statement from his family said.

#8  I remember well the day that picture was taken of the Ford Bronco being followed by all those cop cars. Before the cops located the Bronco they used helicopters to search all over southern California. On my way home northbound on Interstate 5 after work, the traffic was seriously jammed because a police helicopter was hovering over the freeway and frequently dipping low over the freeway to get a closer look. I saw on the television when I finally got home that they were looking for OJ as far south as northern San Diego County. The TV people went bonkers and stayed that way until OJ's trial was over. I don't remember how long that took but it seems like it must have been a total media circus for over a year.

Economy
'Dave Ramsey Advises Caller With $5 Million Net Worth To Put Money Into High-Yield Savings If Flipping Houses Isn't Bringing In 20% Profit
[Bazinga] During an April 8 call on the "Dave Ramsey Show," Trisha from Jersey Shore, a divorced mother of two, asked how to generate a $200,000 annual income by leveraging her assets, including a fully paid-off home valued between $3.6 million and $4.1 million.

With $760,000 in savings and a background in profitable house flipping, albeit challenged by recent economic conditions, Trisha inquired whether selling her home was the most advantageous path or if alternative strategies existed.

Ramsey questioned the impact of adjusting to an annual income of $200,000, given her high-value assets and lifestyle. Trisha revealed her annual expenses range between $170,000 and $185,000, indicating careful consideration of her target income.

Trisha suggested downsizing to a $1 million home and investing the rest of her money. Ramsey raised a concern about the potential disruption for her son, who might need to change school districts if they moved to a less expensive home. Trisha insisted it is possible to find a home in the district in that price range.

When asked what she did for work, Trisha said she used to flip properties but the market hasn't been ideal for that. Ramsey suggested that selling the home and downsizing could generate significantly more than the desired $200,000 yearly income.

Highlighting her success in flipping 17 properties without a loss, Ramsey probed the level of risk Trisha had encountered and discussed the financial prospects of continuing in the flipping business with a $2 million budget. Trisha estimated a profit range of $200,000 to $300,000 per flip, to which Ramsey emphasized the necessity of higher margins, cautioning that anything less than a consistent 20% profit margin may not justify the risks involved.

#1  Regardless of income or assets, 'downsizing' or smartsizing in today's housing market can produce handsome results. Lifestyle changes can also be of great benefit. Also consider home location.

As mentioned, when considering "High-Yield savings" being mindful of the FDIC insurance limits is essential. Multiple institutional deposits should be considered, as well as kid's accounts and trusts.

Anyone with those kinds of assets should seriously consider a Swiss vacation. As Ramsey recommends, APY's are the place to start.

Certainly an interesting problem to have, ha.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
'Sheila Jackson Lee Named Head Of Harvard Astronomy Department
[BEE] CAMBRIDGE, MA — In the wake of claiming the moon is made of gas and the sun is "almost" too hot to get close to, Texas Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee has been named the new head of Harvard University's Astronomy Department.

The Board of Overseers at the prestigious Ivy League institution was reportedly wowed by Jackson Lee's insights into the cosmos, with the school immediately seeking to get in touch with her about the department head position.

"Her knowledge blew us away," said Harvard Interim President Alan Garber. "When she said, 'The moon is made up of mostly gasses. That's why the question is why or how could we humans live on the moon' -- that's when we knew she was Harvard material."

While some have raised questions about Jackson Lee's qualifications to lead the school's Astronomy Department after her comments about the moon being comprised of gases, the board was willing to overlook any criticism. "It's not about qualifications here at Harvard," Garber said. "She hasn't been qualified to serve in Congress all these years, but she's done it. That says a lot about her ability to overcome adversity and general misunderstandings about basic elements. She literally watched a flag be planted on the moon, thinking it's being planted in gas - and yet, she got elected to Congress. What a leader!"

Jackson Lee's office said she would join the school's faculty within a few weeks and that due to normal legislative inaction, it would not interfere with her ability to continue serving in Congress.

At publishing time, Jackson Lee was planning her first lecture to educate students about the fact that asteroids are made of chocolate.

'Here's the new plan to boost background checks for guns bought at shows or online
[NPR] The Justice Department announced a new rule Thursday that will require anyone who sells guns to run federal background checks — a process that would cut down on what's been known as the 'gun show loophole.'

The rule expands the definition of what it means to be "engaged in the business" of selling firearms. The clarification means that background checks are required for the sale of guns not just at gun stores, but also for guns sold at flea markets, on social media and at gun shows.
[what about the back of taxis, playgrounds or National Parks?]
Attorney General Merrick Garland said the new move will save lives.

"Under this regulation, it will not matter if guns are sold on the internet, at a gun show, or at a brick-and-mortar store: if you sell guns predominantly to earn a profit, you must be licensed, and you must conduct background checks," Garland told reporters.
"predominantly to earn a profit"
The Justice Department said the new rule, which goes into effect 30 days after it is submitted, would affect roughly 23,000 unlicensed dealers. It has the potential to impact tens of thousands of gun sales each year. It also allows for better tracing of guns that are found at crime scenes, including mass shootings.

'Mass shooting in DC: 1 killed, and 5 shot, including children, just minutes away from White House's glamorous State Dinner
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] One person has been killed and five injured, including children, in a shooting in Washington, D.C., just minutes away from the White House.

At around 6:15 pm, the suspects drove up and fired into a crowd in the Carver Langston neighborhood on Wednesday evening, according to Police Chief Pamela Smith.

Investigators believe the suspects left the car and began shooting at people on the street.

They peeled away in a light blue Toyota sedan with no front tags, dark tints and black rims, police say. The vehicle is 'possibly occupied with two shooters inside.'
Gang killing?
One man was declared dead at the scene, while two men, a woman and a 9-year-old boy were rushed by ambulance to local hospitals.

A 12-year-old boy later arrived at a hospital with a gunshot wound and is also believed to be a victim, Smith said.

Their conditions were unknown as of Wednesday evening.

Police roped off the crime scene in the 1100 block of 21st Street NE.

The gunfire erupted roughly four miles away from the White House, where President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden were hosting a state dinner for Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife.

'Hamas leader's chilling reaction as he is told his three sons have been killed by IDF - shrugging off the news and saying 'No, why? Let's continue' when asked if he wants to end hospital tour
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Chilling video shows the moment top Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh hears for the first time that his three sons and a some of his grandchildren have been killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza.

A voice can be heard delivering the news to the group's top political leader during a visit to injured Palestinians, saying: 'Hazem, Mohammed and Amir have been killed, along with their children.'

Haniyeh barely flinches as he hears the information, and remains composed as he nods and takes it in before slowly walking out of the room. 'God rest their souls,' he says, before he is asked by an aide: 'Shall we end the visit?'

The Hamas chief nonchalantly responds: 'No, why? Let's continue,' as he walks to the door, followed by his entourage and officials. The group were meeting wounded Palestinians at a hospital in Qatar, where Haniyeh lives in exile.

Haniyeh, who has 13 sons and daughters according to Hamas sources, later said his three sons and four of his grandchildren were killed in a fatal strike near the Shati refugee camp in Gaza City. Israel claims Mohammed and Hazem were Hamas military operatives, while Amir was a cell commander.

Haniyeh, 61, later confirmed the news to Al Jazeera, telling the broadcaster: 'I am grateful to God for the honor he has given me in the deaths of three of my children and a few of my grandchildren.'

'My sons were awarded this honor. They remained with our Palestinian people in Gaza, did not leave and did not run,' he said, adding: 'The blood of my sons is not dearer than the blood of our people.'

The terror leader hit out at Israel, stating they are 'driven by the spirit of revenge' as he claimed around 60 members of his family have been killed since the start of the war.

Hamas later said that four of Haniyeh's grandchildren, named as Mona, Amal, Khaled and Razan, were among those killed in what they described as the 'treacherous and cowardly' strike. The Israeli military did not comment on the reports.

A report today has suggested that Israeli forces carried out the air strike without consulting senior commanders or political leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Quoting senior Israeli officials, Walla news agency said neither Netanyahu nor Defence Minister Yoav Gallant had been told in advance of the strike, which was coordinated by the Israeli military and the Shin Bet intelligence service.

It said Amir, Mohammad and Hazem Haniyeh had been targeted as fighters and not because they were the sons of Hamas's political leader.

No comment on the Walla report was immediately available from the prime minister's office or the military.

The IDF claimed that the three Haniyeh brothers were 'en route to carry out terror activity in the area of central Gaza' when they were hit by the strike.

According to a report by Israeli broadcaster Kan, the IDF alleged that one of Haniyeh's sons was involved in holding hostages, though it did not offer further information or specify which.

Pictures purporting to show Hazem, Amir and Mohammed Haniyeh have been circulating on Palestinian media channels.

Images have also emerged of the scene of the strike, with the shell of a bombed-out car pictured being inspected by passersby in Shati camp, west of Gaza City.

'Morning Glory: We are in a war. Biden doesn't know it. Trump does.
By Hugh Hewitt

[FoxNews] Is the United States at war this April, 2024? Was it at war in November, 1941?

Of course we are, just as we were on the eve of Pearl Harbor. Just as then, many Americans including the president were unaware of it.

If you have any doubt ask the families of Sgt. William Jerome Rivers of Carrollton, Georgia; Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders of Waycross, Georgia; and Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett of Savannah, Georgia, killed in Jordan in January. President Biden, on the Sunday after the murders by drone, announced that the drone came from "radical Iran-backed militant groups operating in Syria and Iraq."

Get it? Iran ordered those soldiers killed. We are in an undeclared war with Iran, as is Israel though by the time this column appears, Iran may have abandoned its cloak of cowardice and struck directly at Israel from Iranian soil and brought the barely hidden war into the open.

Though President Biden may not fully grasp it because he is increasingly and obviously infirm (and our enemies know it)— the triumvirs he rules in the name of —Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Secretary of Defense Austin and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan— surely do know this fundamental fact. If they don’t they are stupid, and they are not stupid. They do seem, however, afraid.

The United States is at war with a three-tiered partnership of evil actors. Like a law firm with a managing partner, senior partners, junior partners and associates, our enemies confront a firm led by China, with senior partners Russia and Iran and junior partners North Korea, Cuba and Venezuela and many associates the most visible of which are Hezbollah, Hamas and the Houthis. The South American and Mexican drug cartels, like the remnants of ISIS and ISIS-K, are wannabe serious enemies but denied either formal territory or significant armaments they are dangerous to Americans but not "existential threats."

The partnership led of predatory states, led by Xi Jinping at the top of the Leninist Chinese Communist Party, is. They are our enemies and until and unless we begin to treat that partnership of enemies as bent on our defeat and the defeat of our allies we will not be able to rally the West to its own defense.

Alabama man arrested for allegedly detonating device outside state AG's office
Practice run or False Flag?
See J6.

[FoxNews] The device was detonated in the early morning hours of Feb. 24 outside the Montgomery office of Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall.

An Alabama man has been arrested for his alleged role in the late-night detonation of an explosive device outside the office of state Attorney General Steve Marshall in February.

Authorities took Kyle Benjamin Douglas Calvert, 26, of Irondale, into custody on Wednesday on charges of malicious use of an explosive and possession of an unregistered destructive device, the Justice Department said.

Investigators arrested Calvert weeks after an explosive device went off around 3:45 a.m. on Feb. 24 outside Marshall's office in Montgomery.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said authorities were notified of a suspicious package the Monday after the explosion. The package was confirmed as the device that was detonated days earlier.

"This IED used commercially available pyrotechnic fireworks as the main explosive charge, a coffee can as a concealment container, and was enhanced with added fragmentation and ignitable liquids," an FBI agent wrote, according to court documents.

"The addition of metal screws, nails, and other hardware to this IED demonstrates weaponization characteristics due to the enhanced fragmentation effect that those materials would create. The addition of ignitable liquids to the IED demonstrates weaponization characteristics due to the enhanced ability for the IED to initiate a fire."

No one was hurt and no major damage to nearby buildings was reported.

Surveillance footage released by authorities at the time showed a man walking on a sidewalk minutes after the incident. Investigators have not disclosed a motive.

Charging documents against Calvert state that he placed stickers on state buildings at the time of the bombing with graphics advocating for various political ideologies, AL.com reported. Some allegedly included the phrase "Support your local antifa."

Antifa, a far-left militant movement that calls itself "antifascist," is known for violently confronting those with opposing political views in mostly left-wing cities.

Calvert faces up to 20 years in prison.

'Hero City under Occupation.' The second liberation of Odessa is inevitable
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Arkady Melikov

[REGNUM] “The hero city is celebrating the eightieth anniversary of its liberation under occupation,” the head of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksyonov wrote about Odessa in his Telegram channel. As IA Regnum previously noted, the peninsula is now celebrating the 80th anniversary of the start of the Crimean offensive operation; in a matter of days, the anniversary of liberation will be celebrated in the hero city of Sevastopol. In words, the Ukrainian mayor of Odessa Gennady Trukhanov paid respect to the fighters against Nazism - he mentioned (during the presentation of the buggy to the assault units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine) “a significant day for Odessa, which 80 years ago brought Odessa victory” and even laid flowers at the monument to the Unknown Sailor in Shevchenko Park.

In previous years, countless people came here to the Walk of Fame from early morning to lay flowers at the monument to the Unknown Sailor and honor the memory of the liberating heroes. It is impossible to prohibit Odessa residents from being proud of history, but for ten years now, those who dare to come with the Victory Banner or St. George’s ribbon find themselves in serious danger - the flag came under the law on decommunization, and for the ribbon people are beaten by the Nazis or arrested.

Immediately after the report on the laying of flowers, Mayor Trukhanov posted an announcement about the next “public hearings” regarding the next decommunization of city toponymy - they plan to rename Marshal Govorov Street, among other things.

If the current military-civil leadership still cannot help but mention the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Odessa, at least for the sake of formality, then the approaching mournful anniversary - the 10th anniversary of the tragedy in the House of Trade Unions "Miska Vlad" - will most likely be passed over in silence.

“Even today the smoke of a terrible fire hangs over Odessa, in which the Nazis burned the defenders of the city on May 2, 2014,” emphasized Sergei Aksenov.

The fact that the current Kiev regime (as well as the team of Petro Poroshenko that preceded it ) considers Nazi methods of dealing with dissidents to be the norm is evidenced by the admission a year ago of Mikhail Podolyak, an adviser to the office of Vladimir Zelensky. Let us remind you that he shared his plans for the “liberation” of Crimea and Donbass: “We legally have the right to destroy everything that is located on the territory of Crimea, Lugansk, Donetsk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.”

Just three weeks before the tragedy of May 2, 2014, Russian President Vladimir Putin officially congratulated the residents of Odessa - and among them the anti-fascists camped on the Kulikovo Field - on the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the city. Then the president recalled the centuries-old traditions of good neighborliness and mutual assistance, which will continue to unite the Russian and Ukrainian peoples, but in Ukraine a different course was taken, aimed primarily at forgetting the common heroic history and replacing it with Russophobia.

IA Regnum has already recalled in detail how Soviet soldiers, under the leadership of the commander of the 3rd Ukrainian Front, Odessa resident Rodion Malinovsky, carried out a magnificent operation to liberate the city without bloody street battles and the use of heavy weapons.

To this story we can only add a brief chronology of the war years.

Already a month after the start of the Great Patriotic War, at the end of July 1941, the front was closely approaching Odessa, then on August 5 an order was received from the Supreme High Command headquarters about the need to defend the city to the last opportunity, involving the Black Sea Fleet in the case.

The defense lasted two months - from August 5 to October 16, 1941. Soviet troops of the Primorsky Army, with the support of the Black Sea Fleet under the command of Vice Admiral Philip Oktyabrsky, in heroic battles repelled a number of assaults by the superior forces of the 4th Romanian Army, but on October 1, by order of Headquarters, troops from Odessa began evacuating to Sevastopol.

In addition to the soldiers, Odessa citizens also showed heroism in defense: they had to dig trenches, build dugouts, and put up wire fences. Due to a shortage of workers, teenagers, women and pensioners began to work at the machines in factories. After the Nazis captured the water pumping station in the city, they began to issue water using ration cards, which was the first and only case in the entire history of the war.

The Nazi-German-Romanian occupation lasted almost three years, from October 16, 1941 to April 9, 1944. During this time, 82,000 inhabitants of Odessa died, 78,000 were sent to forced labor in Nazi Germany. Five partisan detachments and 45 underground patriotic groups operated in the city, whose assistance in the future helped with the liberation.

The Odessa operation began on March 26, 1944 after the successful conduct of the Bereznegovato-Snigirevsky operation by the main forces of the 3rd Ukrainian Front under the command of Army General Malinovsky. At the beginning of the operation, the group of Soviet troops had 470,000 people, 12,678 guns and mortars, 435 tanks and self-propelled artillery units, 436 aircraft. Support for the offensive of the front forces was entrusted to the 17th Air Army, as well as aviation and ships of the Black Sea Fleet under the command of Admiral Philip Oktyabrsky.

The Soviet troops were opposed by the replenished troops of the German 6th and Romanian 3rd armies of Army Group A (from April 5 - “Southern Ukraine”) under the command of Field Marshal Ewald Kleist, from April 1 - Colonel General Ferdinand Scherner. They numbered 350,000 people, about 3,200 thousand mortar guns, 160 tanks and assault guns. In this direction, the enemy could use up to 550 combat aircraft of the 1st Air Corps of the German 4th Air Fleet and the Romanian Aviation Corps.

During fierce battles on April 10, 1944, Soviet troops completely liberated the Nikolaev and Odessa regions, as well as a significant part of Moldova.

As a result of the Odessa operation, Soviet troops inflicted a heavy defeat on the 6th German and 3rd Romanian armies. During the operation, the enemy lost over 27,000 people killed and more than 11,000 prisoners, 952 guns, 443 tanks and assault guns, 95 warehouses with ammunition and food.

Partisans and underground fighters who emerged from the catacombs and shelters provided significant assistance to the Red Army in liberating the city. They helped clear the city of the enemy and prevented the explosions of the port, piers, buildings, and warehouses that he had prepared. On the night of April 10, the partisans attacked the enemy from the rear.

The partisans of the Kuyalnitsky detachment under the command of Leonid Gorbel destroyed the enemy’s demolition team, which was supposed to blow up the dam of the Khadzhibey estuary and flood the Peresyp, which opened the way to the city for Soviet troops. Over the entire period of the partisan war against the invaders, the partisans destroyed over 5 thousand enemy soldiers and officers, blew up 27 military trains, destroyed 248 vehicles, and saved about 20,000 Soviet citizens from being hijacked to Germany.

A total of 27 formations and units that most distinguished themselves during the liberation of the city were given the honorary name “Odessa”. For heroism and courage shown in the battles for the city, 14 people were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, more than 2,150 people were awarded orders and medals of the USSR.

On May 1, 1945, by order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Odessa was declared a hero city. On May 8, 1965, by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, for outstanding services to the Motherland, courage and heroism shown by workers in the fight against the Nazi invaders, the hero city of Odessa was awarded the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal.

A total of 80 years have passed since this significant event, confirming the heroism of our ancestors, and we see how history, unfortunately, repeats itself before our eyes. The followers of the same Nazi ideology in 2014, in fact, again occupied Odessa and “proved by deed” their continuity in relation to Hitler’s punitive forces.

Nevertheless, we must be extremely clear that the reunification of historical Russian lands is an irreversible and necessary process associated with global historical events.

“Odessa is generally a Russian city. We know about this. Everyone knows this well,” said Russian President Vladimir Putin, answering a question from journalists at the “Results of the Year”.

Afghanistan
On issues of recognition of the Taliban
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin.

[ColonelCassad] Regarding questions about recognition of the Taliban:

1. The Taliban did not say a single bad word about Russia after February 24, 2022.

2. The Taliban have not committed a single terrorist attack on Russian territory.

3. The Taliban is ready to trade with Russia and does not care about the West in general and sanctions in particular.

4. The Taliban does not supply weapons and ammunition to Ukraine.

5. The Taliban kills ISIS terrorists on their territory and persecutes those who served the pro-American regime.

6. The Taliban have, in practice, seriously reduced the production of heroin and other types of drugs in Afghanistan.
That’s during even years. During odd years, they require Afghan farmers to grow the stuff, same as they did their first time in power.
7. The Taliban is ready to be part of economic corridors in the interests of China, Russia and Iran.

8. The Taliban is ready to provide access to the development of its mineral resources (China is already doing so).

9. The Taliban do not demonstrate any intentions to expand into Central Asia.

Among the disadvantages of the Taliban at the moment:

1. Insufficient representation of all key peoples of Afghanistan in the government.
Not something likely to change, since they’re about Allah’s business over there.
2. The presence of radical groups within the Taliban, including those associated with Western intelligence services and Pakistani intelligence.
Which Western intelligence services? Show your work. Otherwise, see #1.
3. Too strict a policy towards women - both in matters of their education and in matters of their punishment.
See #1.
4. Insufficient control over semi-autonomous clans on the borders of Iran and Pakistan.

Overall, the pros already outweigh the cons.

Rostec: The PP-2000 pistol passes shooting test with dirt inside
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The PP-2000 submachine gun, developed by the Instrument Design Bureau, fired more than 400 shots continuously after being immersed in water and mud.The Rostec press service announced the successful testing of weapons on April 10

It is noted that the submachine gun, which is used by special forces, was subjected to unprecedented tests. They threw him on ice and into a puddle, buried him in clay and mud, and then ran over him in an SUV. After this, the PP-2000 fired 410 shots, which is twice the stated performance characteristics (TTX).

“In a word, they honestly tried to “kill” him by all available means, but they couldn’t,” says the description of the “Our Crash” video, published on the state corporation’s Telegram channel.

The submachine gun successfully hit targets at the stated distances. After 19 standard 20-round magazines and an enlarged 30-round magazine were fired from it, the seat on the plastic case only melted.

Usually a soldier does not fire so continuously, since he has to reload magazines and take cartridges from somewhere. During this time, the weapon cools down, explained the leading designer of the KBP branch - TsKIB sporting and hunting rifle (SOO) Andrey Savenkov.

The development company is part of the High-Precision Complexes holding. The submachine gun is chambered for the 9×19 Parabellum cartridge and is lightweight - 1.4 kg without magazine and stock. The spare magazine can be used as a shoulder rest, and the bolt handle and magazine release button can be installed on both the left and right.

Since 2006, serial PP-2000s have been equipped with a removable folding stock. With it, the length of the weapon is 582 mm, without it - 350 mm.

As Regnum reported, in 2023, the PP-2000 began to be placed in the emergency reserve of Russian Aerospace Forces pilots. They positively assessed the new personal weapons received for trial use. Submachine guns were also given to the military to fight entrenched enemies.

Biden's actually looking to fix the border at last
[NYPOST] President Biden is talking about maybe finally doing something about the border — and it only took a bit over three years!

In a Univision interview Tuesday, Biden teased that he’s considering signing an executive order by month’s end
By month's end, eh? Meaning first of May? Six months before the election? Though I'm sure that's just coincidence...
to drastically tighten up the southern border, using authority granted in Section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act to ban any migrant who crosses illegally from applying for asylum.

But, he says, he’s unsure "whether or not" he has "that power": "Some are suggesting that I should just go ahead and try it. And if I get shut down by the court, I get shut down by the court."

Utter baloney.

The language of Section 212(f) is perfectly clear, granting the power "to suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens" whenever the president "finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States."

Some lower-court judge might find some excuse to overrule that, but most of the Supreme Court can read.

Plus, President Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons......
used it repeatedly, in multiple executive orders — ones Biden rescinded right after taking office.

And the White House leaked heavily back in February that it was looking at executive action on the border, only to back off when the Democratic left erupted.

Instead, Biden decided to pretend he was powerless because Republicans wouldn’t pass a bill spelling out new powers.

and 12.7mm machine guns were used), showing good practical results.

For the first time, the performance characteristics of the products, the wide range of weapons used - AGS-17, AGS-30, RPO , RPG, ATGM, 12.7mm machine guns, anti-tank mines, electronic warfare systems - are presented. And it doesn't stop there.

In the foreseeable future, drones of this type will take their place on the battlefield, just as we saw with air and sea drones.

Further robotization of war seems inevitable.

Europe
European Parliament supports tightening EU migration standards
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited
[Regnum] Members of the European Parliament supported the EU pact on migration and asylum, which includes the tightening of all EU migration standards, RTE reported on April 10 on its page on the social network X.
A very good idea, and long overdue.
“The European Parliament has voted to adopt... a legislative package to revise EU rules on asylum and migration,” it said.

The material says that the reforms have been developed since 2015.
Not even a decade in the making, yo!
/sarc
In particular, principles are being introduced for the creation of filtration camps
[FEMA!]
at the EU borders for migrants who do not have obvious rights to asylum, this should simplify their possible subsequent deportation outside the European Union.
[Ghetto building at the border. When has it ever worked?]
The pact also simplifies the procedure for the expulsion from European countries of all persons denied asylum or residence permits. In addition, a mandatory principle of quota settlement of migrants in EU countries is being introduced, but EU countries can reduce their number by paying a fine to the EU budget
[grifters!]
for each migrant not accepted. Revenues should be used to equip EU borders and migration camps.
[But the public is already paying a fine for every one that is admitted!]
Decisions of the European Parliament are advisory in nature and are not binding for EU countries. The package of documents must be approved by a qualified majority of votes in the EU Council, after which the European Commission will present a roadmap for implementing these reforms in practice.

As reported by IA Regnum, previously the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, Josep Borrell, stated that migration could become “a destructive force for the European Union.” He explained that this situation has arisen due to deep cultural differences between European countries, which is why they cannot agree and develop a common migration policy.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, in turn, noted that Brussels is imposing a migration pact on the countries, with which Budapest does not agree. Orban added that Poland also opposes this innovation.

Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak stated that if the EU authorities accept this pact, it will be suicide for the EU. There will only be more migrants, and no integration should be expected, Blaszczak emphasized.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
'And my city is called a Hero.' 80 years of the liberation of Odessa
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Denis Davydov

[REGNUM] The history of the liberation of Odessa, the 80th anniversary of which we celebrate on April 10, is full of brilliant feats and the heroes who accomplished them. The city by the Black Sea, special in all respects, magically gathered legendary families around itself.

It’s worth starting with the commander of the 3rd Ukrainian Front, Odessa resident Rodion Malinovsky. The legendary Stalingrad sniper Vasily Zaitsev, already a captain and commander of the company that captured the enemy airfield, also made his mark here.

Near Odessa, the 49th Guards Rifle Division of Colonel Vasily Margelov, the future “Uncle Vasya” of the airborne troops, led the offensive. A decisive contribution to the overall success was made by cavalrymen from the cavalry-mechanized group of General Issa Pliev, who was personally mentioned 16 times in the orders of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the USSR.

And Major General Ilya Shvygin, whose last name is not so well known, was one of the best division commanders of the Red Army: on April 9, he personally led a group of soldiers who attacked the port and saved the Odessa opera house from being blown up. He died a month later on the Dniester bridgehead and was buried on the Walk of Fame in Odessa. But together with everyone else he preserved the beautiful city almost unharmed.

The current situation contributed greatly to this.

By April 5, 1944, the situation for the German and Romanian troops defending in the Odessa area became critical. Malinovsky's troops bypassed them from the north, hanging over the enemy flank. The day before, Pliev’s cavalry captured the Razdelnaya station, depriving the enemy Army Group “Southern Ukraine” of a large supply base and an important transport hub.

Now the units of the 6th German Army of Colonel General Karl-Adolf Hollidt and the 3rd Romanian Army subordinate to him lost the possibility of supply from bases in Moldova and could not normally withdraw in the same direction. And it was already very necessary to retreat: all the armored reserves of the group were rushed to Razdelnaya in a desperate attempt to correct the situation.

In one of the battles, the defending fighters captured a Romanian officer, who reported something important: the water pumping station located in the village of Belyaevka was mined. And this is the only source of water for the city, supplied from the Dniester. In addition, this village and the village of Mayaki, located just to the south, stood at the last Lower Dniester crossing - the next one was only on the coast itself, in the Karolino-Bugaz region, where the Dniester flows into the Black Sea.

And Pliev, who worked as a “lifesaver” throughout the war, turned his cavalrymen and tanks to the south. On the night of April 6-7, the vanguard of the Kuban Cossacks bypassed Belyaevka from the north and along the coastal stretch reached the water station, clearing the approaches. The second detachment broke into the water pumping station, clearing it of the enemy, and the main forces that arrived liberated the village in a matter of hours. By noon on April 7, Mayaki was also liberated.

Then the commander of the 3rd Ukrainian Front decided to complete the “golden bridge” for the enemy group of troops: to artificially create a retreat route along which the enemy would rush to escape, abandoning everything, trying to save the “core” of his troops. Pliev received a message from front headquarters: “It would be good to capture Ovidiopol with a strong detachment. Conduct reconnaissance to Odessa. Save the water pump."

Ovidiopol is located less than 20 kilometers from Karolino-Bugaz, the Germans must have felt the threat of complete encirclement and rushed to where Malinovsky needed. And they felt: Hollidt directed all his available reserves against Pliev’s units. German aircraft fell from the sky onto the cavalry positions, which had nothing to oppose. At a critical moment of the battle, Pliev himself fought off enemy soldiers who burst into the house with a machine gun; he himself recalled this:

“Trying not to make any noise, I grabbed the machine gun. When I appeared at the door, the tall, stooped blond man dropped his weapon and did not move. The other, forgetting about the machine gun, darted to the window, but... hung lifelessly on the windowsill. The commander of the security platoon, Senior Lieutenant Laskin, jumped into the room, with several Cossacks with him. I look out the window: Germans! They run through the garden towards the house.”

But still, the penultimate escape route from Odessa was cut off, the Germans and Romanians began to hastily leave the city, hurrying to squeeze through the bottleneck of the automobile and railway crossing in Karolino-Bugaz and hastily loading ships in the Odessa port.

The ring of combined arms armies of the 3rd Ukrainian Front advancing towards Odessa was rapidly shrinking. The 6th and 8th Guards armies attacked from the north, and from the northwest to the suburb of Peresyp - the 5th attack, which passed along the isthmus between the Kuyalnitsky estuary and the Black Sea. In Odessa itself, in the Luzanovka area, dugouts were built, and long-term firing points were built at street intersections and city squares.

Vera Zhuravleva, signalman of the 320th Infantry Division, recalled:

“On the evening of April 9, when units of the division were already fighting in the Peresyp area, division commander Shvygin ordered the formation of a group of reconnaissance officers. Its task was to cause panic behind enemy lines, thereby preventing the destruction of the city and port and the evacuation of enemy troops.”

The general knew Odessa well from the Civil War and pre-war life, so he led a group of 17 volunteers through alleys and courtyards to Lanzheronovskaya Street, and then to Primorsky Boulevard. The port was in full view, and the fighters opened fire on the piers where the Germans were scurrying around. Half-empty ships and self-propelled barges hastily set sail, reinforcements entered the battle in the port and completely cleared it of the enemy.

Here the soldiers of the 49th Guards Rifle Division of the Hero of the Soviet Union, Colonel Vasily Margelov, who received the Gold Star for crossing the Dnieper and liberating Kherson, distinguished themselves. His riflemen burst into the port and seized a transport with cars there, one of which was presented to their division commander. For the liberation of Odessa, Margelov already became a general.

At this very time, local partisans came into action, emerged from the catacombs and began to make noise in the area. Fighting alongside them were more than 150 soldiers from the rear units of the 1st Slovak Division, who had gone over to our side the day before along with all the weapons they had.

The partisans reported that the port, the beautiful Odessa Opera House, and many other buildings in the city were mined. So at three o’clock in the morning Shvygin set the chief of sappers, Major Pavel Selivanov, the task of eliminating the threat with the assistance of Odessa underground fighters. By 11 o'clock on April 10, a red flag fluttered over the "opera", and the first to sign the theater's guest book after the liberation of Odessa was the commander of the 985th artillery regiment of the 320th division, Stepan Radushinsky.

Already in the afternoon, on the streets of the city, the orchestra played “The Internationale”, the liberator troops marched through the streets of Odessa: at 20 o’clock Moscow saluted them with 24 artillery salvoes from 324 guns, and the ships of the Black Sea Fleet - with a dozen salvoes from 120 guns. And in memory of the heroic defense and skillfully carried out liberation operation, already on May 1, 1945, in Order No. 20 of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the city was among the first to be named a hero.

Arabia
Saudi Arabia 'forced to scale back The Line project'
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Saudi Arabia has been forced to scale back its $1.5trillion plans for a 106-mile linear desert city, according to reports, in a humiliating decision for the kingdom. The Line - part of the country's audacious and futuristic NEOM project - was meant to be home to around 1.5 million residents by the end of the decade.

Now, according to people familiar with the project, the development will only stretch 1.5 miles and house fewer than 300,000 residents by 2030. As a result of the reduction to the construction of The Line, at least one contractor has started dismissing workers it employs on the site, Bloomberg reports. Stunning concept images released by the kingdom in 2022 showed a vast, mirrored structure cutting through the desert near crystal blue ocean waters.

It is one of several developments that form the country's NEOM project - which also includes an industrial city, ports and tourism developments. But The Line was the jewel in Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's Vision 2030 project, which was set in motion to diversify his country's oil dependent economy, as well as its society and culture, and improve the image on the world stage. The Kingdom said the project, which is expected to cost $1.5 trillion, would be an 'unprecedented living experience' that preserves 'surrounding nature'.

The megacity was to feature two parallel skyscrapers extending across a swathe of desert and mountain terrain, with mirrored facades on the outside. Saudi officials said it would be built in stages, and would eventually cover a 106-mile stretch of desert along the coast of the Red Sea in the western Tabuk province. However, Bloomberg reports that these plans have now been dramatically scaled back - with the 106 mile structure being reduced to just 1.5 miles. It is not clear whether it will still feature its twin skyscrapers seen in the concept imagery, or if the whole project will have to be reconsidered.

Citing its sources, the publication reports that Saudi Arabia has not yet approved NEOM's 2024 budget, and that its vast expenditure is beginning to concern officials. Some projects outlined in the Vision 2030 are already expected to be delayed past the end of the decade, with Finance Minister Mohammed Al Jadaan saying in December that longer is needed to 'build factories' and 'sufficient human resources.' 'The delay or rather the extension of some projects will serve the economy,' he said. NEOM was first announced in 2017, with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman delivering a presentation on The Line in July 2022.

Eight Syrians working with IRGC knifed to death in Deir Ezzor – report
[IsraelTimes] Eight Syrian fighters working with Iran’s Revolutionary Guards were killed Tuesday in a knife attack on their position in eastern Syria’s Deir Ezzor province, a war monitor says.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says "unidentified armed individuals" raided the position in the Syrian desert, in the second deadly attack on pro-Iran

fighters in two days in the Mayadeen area.

The eight dead fighters "worked under the command" of Iran’s Guards and were "slaughtered" using knives, says Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Britannia-based Observatory, which relies on a network of sources in Syria. It has been accused in the past of inflating corpse count numbers.

Control of Deir Ezzor is split between US-backed Kurdish-led forces to the east of the Euphrates River and Iran-backed Syrian government forces and their proxies to the west, while Islamic State

Festive prayers were held in mosques in the south of Russia on Eid al-Fitr
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] The mosques of Nalchik and Rostov-on-Don could not accommodate all those who came to the festive prayers on Eid al-Adha. In Dagestan, interest in Eid al-Fitr among children is growing; they willingly participate in the traditions associated with this holiday, residents of the republic said.

As the "Caucasian Knot" wrote, in 2024 the fasting month of Ramadan began in most of the republics of the North Caucasus on March 11, in Dagestan the first day of Ramadan was declared on March 12. In connection with the Eid al-Fitr holiday,  days from April 10 to 12 were declared non-working in Dagestan, and from April 9 to 11 in Chechnya. Residents of Makhachkala said that food prices had increased significantly before Eid al-Adha, and the mosques were crowded for the holiday.

Ramadan  is the ninth month of the Muslim lunar calendar, a month of fasting, spiritual and moral purification, as well as strengthening faith and will. During Ramadan, Muslims must abstain from food and drink during daylight hours. The month of fasting ends with the holiday of breaking  the fast of  Eid al-Fitr.

According to Mufti Bata Kifah Mohamad, about two thousand people gathered in the Volzhsky mosque today. He noted that believers from all over the region usually come to the central mosque in Volzhsky. In total, there are approximately 200 thousand Muslims in the region, the Volgograd Notebook reported.

Hundreds of Muslims performed festive prayers in a mosque  in Stavropol this morning. The building without minarets and domes is located on Oktyabrskaya Street, behind the Voskhod factory. Mosque volunteers prepared five cauldrons of pilaf, which will be served to everyone. In addition, treats are distributed to believers, the ATV Media television company reported on its website.

A festive prayer (Eid namaz), performed by Muslims on the holidays of Kurban Bayram and Eid al -Fitr, took place in the mosques of Karachay-Cherkessia . The start time for holiday prayers begins 30 minutes after sunrise, RIA Karachay-Cherkessia reported today, publishing a fragment of a crowded holiday prayer in one of the mosques in the republic on its Telegram channel.

In Rostov-on-Don, Muslims gathered for worship at the mosque on Furmanovskaya Street, Donday reported today. As follows from a photo report published by the publication, many Muslims were forced to pray on the street.

The Nalchik Cathedral Mosque, where a festive service dedicated to the end of the month of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid al-Fitr was held, could not accommodate everyone; many parishioners settled in the courtyard of the mosque, RIA Kabardino-Balkaria reported.

The heads of the regions of southern Russia congratulated Muslims on the holiday in their Telegram channels. Thus, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, said that he celebrated the holiday in his ancestral village. “The blessed holiday of Eid al-Fitr for Muslims begins with the performance of a number of important religious rituals. When morning comes, they perform obligatory prayer, visit the graves of relatives and friends, and pay zakat al-Fitr. Also, in populated areas, believers gather for collective Eid prayer, after which the main part of the holiday of breaking the fast begins. We performed today’s morning prayer in the mosque of my ancestral village of Akhmat-Yurt,” he wrote in his telegram channel.

In Dagestan, the authorities emphasized that one of the traditions associated with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr is being preserved. “One of the most beloved traditions of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, which passes from generation to generation, is when children go home and congratulate them on the holiday! They are treated to sweets,” the Magaramkent district administration said today, publishing photographs of children with gifts.

22:12 Russia will not attend the inaugural peace summit in Switzerland in June, but some “representatives of the continents” will pass on the details of the peace plan worked out there to Moscow, Zelensky said in an interview with Axel Springer SE. The president explained that Russia will not be at the summit, “because we need them not to block anything.”

“Of course, some parties to the negotiations, some representatives of the continents will present this plan to Russian representatives. But only after we come to a common opinion, form a common point of view of countries that really want peace. Not just talk, but real peace,” he noted Zelensky. Answering a question about the possibility of negotiations with Putin, the president noted that “he is a murderer and has killed many of our people.” At the same time, the head of state added that “if we are talking about negotiations on the platform of the Peace Summit, then I think we will find the infrastructure or some opportunities for negotiations with certain representatives.”

22:07 The heads of government of the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Denmark discussed options for supplying additional air defense systems to Ukraine, said Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte. Thus, in March, the corresponding FSB appeal was distributed in the form of a leaflet attached to the printed Russian-language publication Our Canada. It is characteristic that this newspaper, distributed free of charge, positions itself as a pro-democracy and anti-Putin publication. The GUR assumes that this can only be a cover and a way to attract the attention of local security structures.

13:14 American drones performed poorly in the war in Ukraine - they are expensive, unreliable and difficult to repair, writes The Wall Street Journal. In particular, this applies to the company Skydio, which sent hundreds of its best drones to Ukraine. UAVs went off course, disappeared and became victims of Russian electronic warfare. In general, most drones from American startups have not proven themselves in combat, the publication notes. US company executives blame US policy towards China, bureaucracy and testing restrictions as the reasons for these shortcomings. As a result, Ukraine is buying tens of thousands of drones from China.

In the Nikolaev region, air defense destroyed 12 drones, in the Odessa region - two. In the Nikolaev region, a hit was recorded at an energy facility. The fire was localized, no people were injured. Also, due to falling debris from downed drones, a fire broke out at a recreational facility in the coastal strip of the Ochakov community. The fire has been extinguished, there are no casualties.

The enemy also attacked the Odessa region with missiles, including ballistic ones. They hit critical and transport and logistics infrastructure; two employees of the transport company are known to have been injured. An energy facility and a private house were damaged.

04:01 The Guardian writes that British Foreign Minister David Cameron’s attempt during his visit to the United States to convince Trump to allow the US Congress to provide military assistance to Ukraine appears to have failed. According to the publication, the British minister was not even allowed to meet with Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson.

00:56 The United States will sell Ukraine equipment to modernize the HAWK air defense systems, Reuters writes, citing a State Department representative. The Pentagon's foreign military sales program is expected to use $138 million of the $300 million in foreign defense funding that Congress passed as part of the annual defense spending bill.

00:12 Zelensky said in an interview with Bild that Ukraine has developed a plan for a new counter-offensive, but this requires weapons, including from the United States. “Yes, Russia has more people, more weapons. But the united West has modern weapons systems. Therefore, we will receive certain technologies. And if we continue to increase production, if we receive licenses from our partners, then it’s not a matter of the number of people. It’s a matter of quality weapons," the president said.

As for the calls to freeze the conflict, according to Zelensky, Putin is using this time to prepare for a new attack: “Of course, some will be happy. The world will say: yes, we managed to freeze the conflict, the missiles are not flying. But this is only so long.” until Russia increases production and reserves of military equipment, missiles, drones and analyzes all the mistakes it made at the beginning.”

Zelensky also noted that Putin, “of course, wanted to capture Kharkov, because for him it is a big symbol. Kharkov is one of the capitals of Ukraine, it has great symbolic significance... We are doing everything possible to prevent this from happening.”

First infiltration bid of 2024 foiled 2 terrorists killed in Uri, North Kashmir
I wondered why nothing seemed to be happening over Christmas…
[GreaterKashmir] Srinagar, Apr 5: Army successfully foiled an infiltration attempt by turbans in the Sabura Nala area of Uri in north Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
’s Baramulla district that resulted in the elimination of two unidentified turbans while a massive search operation was on.

Official sources said that the security forces retrieved the body of one of the two terrorists.

The operation was started after the movement of two to three turbans was detected during the early hours, prompting an immediate response from the Army. "OP SABURA, URI #BaramullaAn Infiltration bid on #LoC has been foiled by alert troops in the morning hours today when turbans were trying to infiltrate through Sabura Nala, Uri Sector. 01xTerrorist has been eliminated. Operations in progress.@NorthernComd_IA@adgpi@HQ_IDS_India," Chinar Corps -Indian Army posted on X.

Infiltration activities typically decrease during the winter season due to harsh weather conditions, with a resurgence expected as the snow begins to melt and passes open up.
The infiltrators were challenged by the Indian Army, leading to a fierce shootout in which two bad boyz were potted.

Their identities have not yet been ascertained, and the operation is still underway in the area to ensure the elimination of any remaining threat.

This incident marks the first infiltration attempt from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir this year.

Infiltration activities typically decrease during the winter season due to harsh weather conditions, with a resurgence expected as the snow begins to melt and passes open up.

General Officer Commanding (GoC) of 15 Corps, Rajiv Ghai, recently visited the LoC to assess the operational preparedness of the Army. During his visit, he interacted with artillery units and emphasised the importance of maintaining a high state of operational readiness and morale to tackle future challenges effectively.

The timing of this infiltration attempt is crucial, as it comes ahead of the Lok Sabha
...After the Libyan Civil War, Sabha grew in importance as a slave auctioning town. However, an investigation by the National Commission for Human Rights in Libya (NCHRL) revealed that while there was illegal slavery, reports were exaggerated, as slave auctions were rare and not made public. This was a great comfort to everyone but the slaves peddled in secret. The city was later seized by forces loyal to the Libyan National Army (LNA) and its leader Khalifa Haftar in January 2019, probably for its collection of MiG-25 aircraft....
elections, during which turbans often target political workers and leaders in J&K to disrupt the democratic process.

[GreaterKashmir] Apr 6: The thwarted attempt of infiltration in which two bad boyz were potted on Friday is seen as a desperate move by Pakistain to fuel unrest in Kashmir

elections.

The Army said that intermittent fire was also exchanged from Pak forward posts in the vicinity of the Line of Control (LoC) during the counter-infiltration operation.

The successful foiling of the infiltration bid was the result of a joint operation led by the Army, which had received numerous intelligence inputs indicating plans of terrorist groups to infiltrate across the LoC in the Uri sector.

Based on these inputs, the counter-infiltration grid was reviewed and strengthened.

According to the Army’s statement, their ambushes detected a group of hard boyz moving towards the LoC in the early hours of Friday.

The security forces tracked their movement and established contact, leading to a heavy exchange of fire.

The operation resulted in the killing of two hard boyz and the recovery of two AK rifles, three magazines, four hand grenades, and ammunition, among other war-like stores.

The Army emphasised that this infiltration bid by hard boyz highlights Pakistain’s desperation to disrupt peace in Kashmir, especially at a time when Lok Sabha elections are scheduled and the democratic process is underway.

The operation’s success was attributed to the synergy between various security and intelligence agencies committed to ensuring peace and tranquillity in Kashmir.
Oooooohhhh, synergy. Such a s3xy word, and all the rage in managerial circles these days…or at least some years back when I paid attention to such things.
The Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency, where the incident took place, is slated to go to polls on May 20 in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

It is considered one of the most sensitive constituencies due to its proximity to Pakistain-Indian Kashmire (PoK), encompassing three districts of Kupwara, Bandipora, and Baramulla, all sharing a border with PoK.

The incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in the region and the continued efforts of anti-India elements to disrupt peace in Kashmir.

Mehbooba Mufti Accuses BJP: Unemployed Youth Targeting Muslims, Says Party Fails On Promised Jobs
April 2, 2024
Not much is being reported across India of interest to us here at Rantburg. Perhaps, like in Kashmir, things will heat up as the weather warms.
[OneIndia] PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday charged that the BJP has emboldened the unemployed youth in the country to target Moslems for venting their frustration.

She was reacting to a media report that an Imam of a mosque in Uttar Pradesh's Khushinagar was allegedly beaten up by miscreants and the police refused to act against the assailants.

Mehbooba targets BJP over attack on minorities

. But just a glance at what is happening in the rest of the country is ample proof that they've emboldened disgruntled unemployed youngsters to wield lathis & dandas at muslims only to vent their frustration," the PDP president charged in a post on X.

Article 370 Verdict: Mehbooba Mufti Under House Arrest, Lt Governor Rejects PDP Claims, Says It's 'Baseless'Article 370 Verdict: Mehbooba Mufti Under House Arrest, Lt Governor Rejects PDP Claims, Says It's 'Baseless'

She said it was tragic that the youth were fine with their future being destroyed as long as they can target Moslems. "Instead of fulfilling their own promises of two crore jobs they've reduced them to dangais & gundas. What makes it even more tragic is the fact that these young men are okay with their futures being destroyed as long as they get to punish & humiliate muslims," she added.

NATO General Cavoli: Ukrainians will soon run out of artillery shells and air defense missiles
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

[Regnum] The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) will run out of artillery shells and air defense interceptor missiles “pretty soon” unless the United States resumes supplying them. This was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of NATO's Joint Armed Forces in Europe, General Christopher Cavoli.

“If we don't continue to support Ukraine, it will run out of artillery shells and air defense interceptors soon enough,” he told a House hearing.

As Regnum reported, on April 6, the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, said that Ukraine may soon run out of missiles for its air defense systems. He stressed that a shortage will arise if the West does not step up supplies.

On April 8, military analyst Carlo Masala, in an interview with the German TV channel Welt, said that the initiatives of the Czech Republic and Estonia to purchase shells for Ukraine will not help the Ukrainian Armed Forces avoid a shortage of shells in the coming months.

On March 18, the Norwegian portal Steigan published an article saying that Western countries still refuse to admit that Kiev has already lost in the confrontation with Russia. The authors of the publication also expressed the opinion that direct NATO intervention in the conflict could lead to a dangerous escalation of the situation.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated that the Russian side remains ready for negotiations on Ukraine, but they must be based on reality. The head of state emphasized that Russia did not abandon the negotiation process.

Child sex-assault charges are dropped against Camp Pendleton Marine Avery L. Rosario who was accused after a 14-year-old girl was found in his barracks
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Child sexual assault charges have been dropped against Camp Pendleton Marine Avery L. Rosario.

Private First Class Rosario was charged by military prosecutors last year after the teenage girl, who had been missing for 18 days, was found at Camp Pendleton.

The unnamed girl went missing on June 10 and her family has claimed she was sold to a Marine stationed at the base as a sex slave.

But Rosario's defense said he met the girl on Tinder and her profile said she was 21 years old.

The charges against Rosario have now been dropped, just one week before his general court-martial was expected to start, NBC San Diego reports.

He entered a plea agreement, which saw military prosecutors re-refer him to a special court martial for a charge of 'breach of restriction' for leaving the base without permission on June 27 to meet the teenager using a privately owned vehicle.

At the time, Rosario had been 'placed on restriction' after being tested positive for THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, his attorney confirmed.

He has now been released from confinement after serving more than twice the maximum sentence for breach of restriction, which would only be one month.

Rosario was sentenced to a reduction of rank forfeiture of two-thirds of pay for one month - in line with the punishment for breach of restriction.

As part of the plea agreement, Rosario will be discharged from the Corps, which could take up to 120 days.

Rosario matched with the girl on Tinder on June 26 after she created a profile under the pseudonym 'Kayla', his lawyers told an Article 32 hearing, which is the military equivalent of a civilian preliminary court hearing.

Rosario's lawyers emphasized Tinder is for casual sex. They said Rosario and the girl began messaging and the teen suggested they move their conversation to Instagram and even proposed they get a hotel room.

Rosario claimed he drove to pick up the girl on June 27 and the two had consensual sex at the barracks.

Inflation still a major problem. March CPI bad.
[BLS.gov] The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.4 percent in March on a seasonally adjusted basis, the same increase as in February, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 3.5 percent before seasonal adjustment.

The index for shelter rose in March, as did the index for gasoline. Combined, these two indexes contributed over half of the monthly increase in the index for all items. The energy index rose 1.1 percent over the month. The food index rose 0.1 percent in March. The food at home index was unchanged, while the food away from home index rose 0.3 percent over the month.

The index for all items less food and energy rose 0.4 percent in March, as it did in each of the 2 preceding months. Indexes which increased in March include shelter, motor vehicle insurance, medical care, apparel, and personal care. The indexes for used cars and trucks, recreation, and new vehicles were among those that decreased over the month.

Donald Trump plans to 'green light' Putin's advances in Ukraine and could cut funding altogether, says former head of CIA John Brennan as Zelensky invites the former President to visit Kyiv

Precisely. Is Mr. Brennan hinting that the CIA is listening to so many Trump associates that even ex-heads are getting the summaries? Because that will lead to all sorts of interesting repercussions after the new president is sworn in next January…

Peskov said that Russia continues to cooperate with the United States on peaceful space
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Russia continues to cooperate with the United States in the field of peaceful space, but in other areas the level of dialogue leaves much to be desired. This was announced on April 10 by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

“As for peaceful space, cooperation and interaction continues here. It is important. But in all other areas, of course, the level of dialogue leaves much to be desired,” the Kremlin representative noted, commenting on the level of interaction with Washington on space.

As Regnum reported, on October 26 last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting on the rocket and space industry in Korolev, noted that Russia’s cooperation with other countries in the space industry continues and will continue, despite any problems.

However, in mid-February, ABC News, citing sources, reported that the US government suspects Russia of allegedly planning to place nuclear weapons in space for use against satellites. In turn, Peskov called these messages rumors, which are another trick of the White House.

Putin on February 20 expressed bewilderment at the uproar in the West over Russia's alleged plans to deploy nuclear weapons in space. He recalled that Moscow, on the contrary, has always opposed the militarization of space or the deployment of nuclear weapons there.

White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby said on April 4 that the United States will introduce a resolution to the UN Security Council early next week calling for the non-placement of nuclear weapons in space.

At least 13 killed as truck carrying pilgrims to Shah Noorani shrine falls into ditch
[GEO.TV] At least 13 people were killed and 20 others injured when a truck carrying pilgrims to the Shah Noorani shrine fell into a ditch in Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
's Hub district, a spokesperson of the Balochistan government told Geo News on Wednesday.

The truck carrying the pilgrims from Thatta had fallen in Hub district while en route to Shah Noorani shrine in Balochistan's Khuzdar district.

The front man shared that the pilgrims were travelling to the Shah Noorani shrine from Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
. Meanwhile,
...back at the pond, the radioactive tadpoles grown into frogs. Really big frogs, in fact...
the police told Geo News that the pilgrims that were involved in the accident belonged to Thatta district in Sindh.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti taking notice of the incident directed the district administration to transfer the injured to the hospitals immediately.
I knew there'd be a Bugti in this somehow

America Is Now in the Business of Losing Wars
A taste:
[PJMedia] Despite all of this, Israel has achieved historic military wins: killing the top Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps commander in Lebanon and Syria; quieting the West Bank through targeted raids; extirpating Hamas control from most of the Gaza Strip, leaving only the city of Rafah with its four divisions of Hamas.

And the Biden administration has responded by calling on Israel to stop.

Not only that: the Biden administration has become the propaganda arm of Hamas. They have suggested that Israel has been indiscriminate in its war aims, too willing to kill civilians, willing even to stymie humanitarian assistance without reason. This week, Secretary of State Antony Blinken made the astonishing statement that Israel was risking losing its reverence for human life -- even as Israelis sacrifice their own lives in an attempt to rescue hostages and preserve civilians who largely support genocidal Jew-hatred. Blinken stated, "If we lose that reverence for human life, we risk becoming indistinguishable from those we confront." He then added, "Right now, there is no higher priority in Gaza than protecting civilians, surging humanitarian assistance, and ensuring the security of those who provide it."

Of course, there is a higher priority for Israel: victory.

But America is no longer interested in victory.

#6  Maybe it's not worth "winning" if it costs our soul.

Liar.

The rabbis ruled back in the second century before Christ that Jews are not required to allow themselves to be murdered. And Micah said, “What does God want if you? To do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God.” Followed by Hillel the Elder, who told the smirking pagan, “All of Jewish law is ‘Do not do unto others as you would not have them do unto you.’ All the rest is commentary — now go and study.”

Given that Hamas announced shortly after 10/7 that if they were beaten back this time, they would commit 10/7 atrocities over and over again until they conquered all of Israel from the Mediterranean to the Jordan River. Which means that the Israelis are required to save their souls as well as their bodies by fighting all Gazans who do not surrender until Gaza is no longer capable of attacking. That they must do so without taking women as booty and beheading babies does not seem to be a problem for them.

Jew-hate spiked as news of the massacre started coming out on October 7th, and just kept growing exponentially from there, long before Israel had done anything at all.

Three police officers were taken into custody in connection with the death of Dalgatov
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] A court in Makhachkala tightened the measure of restraint for three police officers who were under house arrest in the case of the death of detainee Kurban Dalgatov.

As the "Caucasian Knot" wrote, on February 22, the investigation reported 13 defendants in the case of Dalgatov's death. On March 11, it became known about the arrest of the former deputy head of the criminal investigation department of the Soviet regional police department of Makhachkala, Arsen Abdulkadirov. On March 13, he was arrested in connection with the death of Makhachkala resident Kurban Dalgatov. On March 14, former police detective Timur Gugaev, who was detained a day earlier in the same case, was also taken into custody.

Kurban Dalgatov died on January 20, 2023 after he was taken to the Sovetsky district police department of Makhachkala. Relatives stated that he died of suffocation, which occurred after Dalgatov “was given electric shocks to the heart area.” The man  received injuries before his death, the Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed.

The court changed the preventive measure for three detectives of the police department who were under house arrest in the case of the death of Kurban Dalgatov in the building of the police department, said the head of the press service of the Supreme Court of Dagestan Zarema Mamaeva.

“The court, having considered the investigation’s petition, changed the measure of restraint for three employees of the Sovetsky District Department of Internal Affairs of the city of Makhachkala to detention for the period of the preliminary investigation,” TASS quoted her as saying on April 9.

The decision was made by the Soviet District Court of Makhachkala, Bolat Medzhidov, Nazhmudin Chupanov and Magomedshapi Magomedshapiev were placed in custody, Chernovik reported on the evening of April 9.

Let us remind you that on January 15, the Sovetsky District Court of Makhachkala placed under house arrest two police officers detained in the case of the death of Kurban Dalgatov - Muslim Kerimov and Magomedshapi Magomedshapiev. When choosing a preventive measure, the court took into account that one of them had disabled parents as dependents, and the other took part in hostilities.

The next day, the court placed another detective of the police department in the Sovetsky district under house arrest. At the same time, on February 3 it became known that  the decision  to place Muslim Kerimov under house arrest had been cancelled.

On January 20, 2023, before the arrest of 35-year-old Dalgatov, a conflict occurred on the street between two men, one of them, according to the police, shot at his opponent and escaped with the help of Dalgatov. Kurban Dalgatov was found and detained. During the investigation at the police department, his health worsened, he was given first aid and taken to the hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead.

Multiple people shot at Philadelphia event marking end of Ramadan
[NYPOST] Gunshots rang out during an Eid al-Fitr event in West Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon, leaving at least two people maimed, reports said.
Sunni vs Shiite or the traditional gun s3x?
[perhaps just Philly]
The incident unfolded around 2:30 p.m. near the Philadelphia Masjid mosque and the Sister Clara Muhammad School, FOX 29 reported.

Over 1,000 people — including families with children — are believed to have been at the outdoor event to celebrate Eid, an Islamic holiday that marks the end of Ramadan.

Parents who may have been separated from their children during the chaos were given a staging location to reunite with their loved ones, FOX 29 added.

Authorities "made numerous arrests and at least 4 guns were recovered" from the scene, FOX 29’s Steve Keeley reported, citing police sources.

At least one Philadelphia police officer fired their weapon, he added.

Two people were reportedly hospitalized as of 3 p.m. One person may have been shot by an officer responding to the gunfire, Philly Crime Alerts said.

"I heard a lot of people running, right, left, with their kids. They came inside, and we had to lock the door, they were scared," Abdullah, a shopkeeper at a nearby market, told FOX 29.

"They told me someone had been shot there," he said of the terrifying incident.

A pedestrian running from the scene was hit by a car. The extent of their injuries was unknown, according to reports.

A heavy police presence could be seen on aerial video from FOX 29.

When reached by The Post, the Philadelphia Police Department declined to comment on the developing situation.

Biden tells Arizona voters 'Elect me, I'm in the 20th century' in latest brutal gaffe
[NYPOST] President Biden said Wednesday that voters should "Elect me, I’m in the 20th century" — another brutal gaffe that instantly went viral among critics who say he’s too old for another four-year term.

Biden, 81, made the statement during the conclusion of a joint presser in the White House Rose Garden alongside Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

"Why doesn’t everybody holler at once?" the president groused as journalists shouted questions at him, before pausing to answer several queries from news hounds who had not been pre-selected by his press officers.

Police reportedly mulling probe into Tel Aviv U lecturer who eulogized terror convict
[IsraelTimes] Police may open a criminal investigation into a Tel Aviv University lecturer who eulogized Paleostinian terror convict Walid Daka, who died in jail last week, the Ynet news site reports.

In a post on Facebook, Anat Matar, a senior lecturer in Tel Aviv’s Philosophy Department, called Daka a "dear and beloved friend" and "an endless source of inspiration."

She also offered condolences to Daka’s family and the Paleostinian people over the loss of "one of its greatest sons."

Daka, an Israeli citizen sentenced to life behind bars for being part of a cell that kidnapped and killed Israeli soldier Moshe Tamam in 1984, died of cancer last week at age 62.

According to Ynet, police need permission from the state prosecutor to open a probe into Matar for supporting terror.

Matar’s post drew protests from right-wing groups and some students, who held a rally last week calling on the university to fire the veteran academic and activist, the site reported.

The school told Ynet it condemned her remarks, and said they would be looked at in terms of whether she violated the school’s free speech guidelines.

Matar, head of the Israeli Committee for the Paleostinian Prisoners, has long been known as a strident critic of Israeli policies vis-a-vis the Paleostinians. In 2011, she co-authored a book on Paleostinians incarcerated by Israel for security offenses, calling into question Israel’s approach toward legal procedures and treatment of inmates.

Gaza man who infiltrated Israel, stabbed security guard in 2021 gets 20-year sentence
[IsraelTimes] The Beersheba District Court hands down a 20-year sentence to a Paleostinian man who crossed into Israel from Gazoo

armed with knives and attacked a security guard in 2021.

He was convicted in January of attempted murder with a terroristic motive, in addition to illegal infiltration.

The Gaza resident, Amad Tzufi, is also given a suspended sentence and ordered to pay compensation of NIS 50,000 to the victim, who was lightly maimed in the attack.

Tzufi entered Israel May 30, 2021, through an undetected breach in the security fence caused by a mortar shell fired from the enclave during the 11-day conflict earlier that month. He came in armed with two kitchen knives.

The attack occurred when he stabbed a civilian security guard patrolling a road near the Sdei Avraham community, near the borders with Gaza and Egypt.

The security guard was lightly maimed in the attack.

In the sentencing, the judges note the gravity of the incident given that "the accused was aware that the victim was Jewish and stabbed him and tried to kill him out of a nationalistic or ideological motive."

"There is no dispute that fortunately the victim sustained an injury that was defined as minor," the sentencing continues, while pointing out that the reason the security guard was not more seriously maimed was because he "managed to fight back."

Turkey bombards Kurdish positions near Manbij: Monitor
[Rudaw] The Ottoman Turkish army and its Syrian proxies on Wednesday bombarded positions of Kurdish-led forces near the northern Syrian city of Manbij, a war monitor reported.

"Ottoman Turkish forces bombed with artillery shells positions of the Manbij Military Council near the city of Manbij in eastern Aleppo," said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britannia-based war monitor.

The monitor did not mention any casualties as a result of the festivities.

The Manbij Military Council, a local force affiliated with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), oversees security in Arab-majority Manbij. Security in Kurdish-controlled areas in north and northeast Syria is managed through military councils led by locals to maintain the delicate balance of the region and prevent Arab discontent.

The festivities come amid an increased surge of violence near Manbij between Kurdish-led forces and Ottoman Turkish-backed murderous Moslems, according to SOHR.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
has long viewed strategic Manbij, located at the crossroads connecting Aleppo, Raqqa, and the Kurdish-administered northeast, as a key zone to launch its next military operation to seize northern Syria from Kurdish forces.

In 2022, Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
labeled the Manbij and Tal Rifaat as Ankara’s next targets in order to complete its long-desired 30-kilometer "safe zone" along the southern border.

Turkey accuses the Kurdish forces of the People’s Protection Units (YPG), the backbone of the SDF, of being the Syrian front for the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

Ankara has carried out three military operations against Kurdish forces in northern Syria since 2016, invading key towns near the border such as Afrin, Sari Kani (Ras al-Ain), and Gire Spi (Tal Abyad).

Cruise passenger who jumped to death from ship ID’d as Florida resident
[NY Post] The 20-year-old passenger who jumped off a Royal Caribbean cruise last week after an argument with his dad has been identified as a former high school football player and avid hunter living in Florida.
"I'm gonna jump off this boat and kill myself and then you'll be sorry!"
Levion Parker, of North Port, Florida, has been missing since he jumped overboard April 4 in front of his brother and father on the cruise to Cuba and the Bahamas’ Grand Inagua Island, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

The release of his identity comes shortly after the Coast Guard called off its search for Parker.

Social media posts show Parker often went on hunting and fishing trips. He also played football for North Port High School before he graduated in 2022, according to the Daily Mail.

Parker jumped off the 18-story Liberty of the Seas after reportedly getting into an argument with his father.

Foreign terror groups including ISIS and Al-Qaida are renewing calls to attack America and using 'mafia-like' tactics, warns FBI chief Christopher Wray
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] FBI Director Christopher Wray issued a stark warning at an event in Washington DC on Tuesday in which he claimed that ISIS and Al-Qaida have adopted 'mafia-like' tactics as part of plans to launch a new attack on the US.
What does mafia-like mean in this context?
I imagine it references not mafia-like actions by the terror groups, but the FBI's reactive behavior template drawn from past failures in dealing with such coercive nationalist groups of which there are now many. Used as a scare word bugaboo in this context.
Wray was speaking at the American Bar Association luncheon when he made the warning while adding that the FBI is actively working to stop such attacks.
When I hear the term "sorry, crooked, worthless POS" that is pretty much the graphic that my brain defaults to.
I generally consider a mirror.
But that's just me.

As actively as they’re working to protect the nation from PTA moms and Catholic deacons?
'Foreign terrorists, including ISIS, al-Qaida and their adherents, have renewed calls for attacks against Jewish communities here in the United States and across the West in statements and propaganda,' Wray said, according to ABC News.

India-Pakistan
Poonch Terror Attack Army probe picks up lapses in killing of 3 civilians last December
[GreaterKashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain.
] Apr 5: The Army’s internal inquiries into the killing of three civilians, allegedly during interrogation by Army personnel following a terror attack in J&K’s Poonch in December 2023 that left four soldiers dead, have found serious lapses and operational gaps in the conduct of seven to eight personnel, including officers, at various levels, The Indian Express reported.

Sources have told The Indian Express that the findings of the inquiries indicate that the three civilians died of torture, allegedly during interrogation.

The terror attack took place on December 21 on the Mughal Road between Dehra Ki Gali and Bufliaz. The next morning, eight civilians were picked up from Topa Pir in Poonch district’s Bufliaz area, and five from Rajouri district’s Thanamandi area.

Of the eight taken away from Topa Pir, three died of injuries sustained during the alleged torture.

The inquiries are learnt to have found lapses in the overall conduct of the operation as well as the individual conduct of certain personnel.

Administrative and disciplinary action have been recommended against two officers and other ranks who were either directly or indirectly responsible for the interrogation.

The sources said that the initial findings have indicated administrative lapses and a lack of command and control on the part of the Brigade Commander of 13 Sector RR and the Commanding Officer (CO) of 48 Rashtriya Rifles (RR).

While the Brigade Commander was not physically present at the site, the CO was on leave — they have since been moved out. Although they were not directly involved in any misdemeanour, administrative action has been recommended against them. Not necessarily at the spot most times, they are responsible for ensuring the implementation of SoPs and other drills.

Suitable disciplinary action, sources said, has also been recommended against two officers, Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and other ranks who were present during the interrogation of the civilians who had been rounded up. One of the officers was learnt to have been responsible for the CO’s role in his absence.

Sources said while the two officers may not have been directly involved in the physical torture which allegedly led to the deaths, they were responsible for ensuring that interrogation was done in line with rules. Hence, the recommendation for disciplinary action against them.

In the military, disciplinary action could mean a court martial. Punishment could include the death penalty
, depending on the seriousness of the offence. Administrative action would mean departmental action minus a trial. Punishment could include loss of seniority, a fine, censure or even termination of service.

According to the sources, the inquiries have been finalised after being vetted for legal procedures and other details, including invoking Army Rule 180 wherein the accused gets the option to cross-question witnesses to clarify statements.

Based on the directions of the inquiry reports, the entire evidence is being collected in the form of a summary of evidence. Based on that, further action such as a General Court Martial would be ordered.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Alamo, Davy was counting their remaining cannon balls and not liking the results...
48 RR, the unit involved in the incident, has been made to regroup and retrain under a new Commanding Officer. It has been redeployed in another sector under the Nagrota-based XVI Corps.

The Indian Express reported that in response to their queries, the Army said that investigations into the incident are still in progress and it may be premature to arrive at outcomes at this stage.

"The Indian Army is committed to conducting a thorough and impartial inquiry to ascertain the facts surrounding this incident. All efforts are in place to ensure that the investigations are fair, comprehensive and conclusive. Further actions will be determined based on the outcome of the investigations," it said.

The Army said it is committed to upholding the highest standards of discipline, conduct and ethics, by the law besides maintaining zero-tolerance towards any human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
violations.

"Our protocols and procedures are designed to ensure that all personnel adhere to these principles, even under the most challenging operational conditions," it said.

Following the incident, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh along with Army Chief General Manoj Pande visited Rajouri and met the families of the three civilians who died. The families said Singh had assured them justice.

#2  The Iraq invasion of Kuwait and then Operation Desert Storm that finally solidified ruling Al Thani family thinking that Qatar needed a powerful friend to ensure its survival. During the 1991 war, the USA-led coalition forces were welcomed in Qatar. Palestinians who opposed that opening were expelled. Following the war both Iraq and Iran remained threats to Qatar's petroleum interests and Qatar signed a defense pact with the USA. In one of history's great balancing acts, it is thanks to the United States interest in the Persian Gulf that Qatar has managed to survive the threats of three mortal enemies: Neither Saudi Arabia, Iran, nor Egypt would shed a tear if Qatar were effaced from the world's body politic. Still, although it is doubted that one in fifty Americans could find Qatar on a map, Qatar is an American protectorate.

Poll: 46% of UK Muslims support Hamas, only 1 in 4 believe terrorists committed atrocities on October 7
[IsraelTimes] Just one in four Moslems in the UK believe that Hamas
...the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,...
forces of Evil committed murder and rape in Israel on October 7, according to a British poll.

The survey, cited by the Daily Telegraph, also finds that 46 percent of British Moslems support the Paleostinian terror group.

Commissioned by London-based think tank the Henry Jackson Society, the poll comes on the six month anniversary of Hamas’s October 7 massacre, which saw some 3,000 forces of Evil burst across the border into Israel, killing some 1,200 people and seizing 253 hostages, mostly civilians, amid horrific acts of brutality and sexual assault.

In terms of UK government policy, the survey finds that almost half (46%) of British Moslems believe Jews have too much power. By way of comparison, only 16% of the general public agrees with this sentiment.
The stereotype is that native Brits are Jew-haters, but apparently not.

Europe
Violent Crime in Germany Hits 15-Year High
Diversity is our friend.
[Armstrong Econ] Germany was once a safe nation. Violent crime has reached a 15-year high, with homicides, knife assaults, and rapes drastically increasing. Crime rose by 5.5% last year alone, with 6.6 million incidences reported. Other nations like the UK, US, Canada, France, Sweden, Finland, and everywhere else that permitted, if not encouraged, open border policies have also seen an uptick in crime but no one wants to point out the obvious.

Migrants were responsible for around 40% of violent crimes in Germany last year, but the non-German national population only composes 15% of the population. Angela Merkel sold off Germany in 2015 when she urged all refugees to come to Europe to seek a better life. The migrants never stopped showing up. Germany handled over 350,000 asylum applications in 2023, and that only accounts for those who went through the judicial process.

The left refuses to hold migrants responsible for crimes and will not acknowledge that different cultures simply do not integrate well into Western societies. Lamya Kaddor, a Green Party MP, said that migrants are simply over-represented in crime statistics. "The crime rate is higher among socio-economically disadvantaged groups, which very often include foreign nationals," she stated. Politicians like Kaddor do not care about the safety of their constituents and will never back away from open border policies

[Regnum] Washington intends to deploy medium-range missile systems in the Asia-Pacific region by 2024.A representative of the US Pacific Command told RIA Novosti about this

The source assured that “everything is going according to plan” to achieve the set goals - to mark the missiles by the end of the year. Such a step, according to experts, will be aimed at containing China.

The US is believed to be considering deploying the Typhon ground-launched medium-range missile system, which is being developed by the US Army and could be equipped with Tomahawk cruise missiles with a range of more than 1,600 km and the new SM6 interceptor missile. They were successfully tested in 2023.

The installation of missiles in the region will be the first since the US and Russia signed the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF Treaty) in 1987. The INF Treaty previously prohibited the two countries from possessing ground-launched medium-range ballistic and cruise missiles with a range of 500 to 5,500 km.

As Regnum reported, the American authorities intend to strengthen their containment of China. To this end, they plan to deploy intermediate-range missiles to the Indo-Pacific region in 2024, US Army Pacific Command spokesman Rob Phillips said in December 2023.

Experts suggested that the missiles would be deployed primarily at American bases on the island of Guam. The media wrote that Japan and the Philippines, with which the United States is developing security cooperation, are reluctant to accept new American military capabilities on their territory for fear of becoming a target for China in the event of an armed conflict in the region.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that the United States has begun testing actions to transfer missile systems to European countries that were previously prohibited by the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. According to her, the US Navy demonstratively moved to use the MK-70 launcher complex as part of maneuvers that were carried out in the EU countries with the participation of Washington’s NATO allies.

Britain
British fighters deploy to Romania to take part in NATO mission
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Six British Typhoon fighter jets have been deployed to Romania as part of a NATO mission to patrol the bloc's airspace near the Black Sea coast, the Royal Air Force said.

It is noted that the personnel participating in the mission will be on standby to launch a rapid response system to intercept Russian aircraft approaching NATO airspace.

The duration of the mission to “protect the eastern flank” of the alliance will be four months. The group will be based at the Mihail Kogalniceanu airbase near the city of Constanta. More than two hundred military personnel were sent to Romania to provide the base.

As Regnum reported, in March, former CIA analyst Larry Johnson said that Russia would destroy F-16 fighters when transferring them to Kiev. When the fighters transferred to Ukraine are stationed at Romanian and Polish air bases, they will turn into targets for the Russian Armed Forces, he clarified.

F-16 fighters will not change the situation on the battlefield, but will become a legitimate target for Russia if they are sent against the Russian Armed Forces from airfields in third countries. They will be mercilessly destroyed, like other Western equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said Russian President Vladimir Putin. The head of state suggested that the F-16s could be carriers of nuclear weapons.

Poland and Britain held joint military exercises on the border with Kaliningrad in March. About 20 thousand military personnel and 3.5 thousand pieces of equipment from ten NATO countries took part in the maneuvers, including about 15 thousand Polish troops.

Birth rate in Ukraine has fallen to its lowest level in 300 years, media writes
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The birth rate in Ukraine has fallen to its lowest level in the last 300 years. The Ukrainian publication “Texts” writes about this, citing an analysis of materials from the Ministry of Social Policy on the country’s demographic development strategy.

“In 2023, the fewest children were born in the last 300 years,” the material says.

The authors of the study clarified that in total, 187 thousand children were born in Ukraine in 2023 - the lowest figure in the entire history of observations. At the same time, the calculation took into account babies who could have been born abroad and in regions that became part of Russia.

The article notes that so few children have not been born on the territory of Ukraine for at least three centuries. Even in 1719, when the population of the country within its current borders was estimated at only 5.7 million, the number of births was estimated at about 280 thousand.

As Regnum reported, in January the British newspaper The Times, citing the Ukrainian Institute of Demography and Social Research at the National Academy of Sciences, wrote that Ukraine has the lowest birth rate in the world.

According to analysts, on average there are 0.7 children per Ukrainian resident of reproductive age (from 15 to 50 years). The publication recalled that Ukraine, even before the hostilities, was experiencing a “deep demographic crisis”; the birth rate was 1.16.

In September 2023, the director of the M. V. Ptukha Institute of Demography and Social Research, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ella Libanova, said that Ukraine, due to a severe demographic crisis, risks falling into a “death spiral.”

According to UN estimates, by 2030 the population of Ukraine could drop to 24 million people, and by 2100 it could decrease by 45%. Sociologists suggest that Ukrainians who left the country after the start of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization are unlikely to return; they will prefer to settle in Europe.

Sitrep on Ukrainian Air Defense Systems

[WeaponsAndStrategy] Ukraine: No More Air Defenses

Russia dominates Ukraine's Airspace.

By their own admission, Ukraine desperately needs air defenses. Most of the high end systems previously delivered from the US and Europe have either been destroyed or run out of interceptor missiles. NATO is searching for replacement missiles and parts for the Patriot air defense system. Germany, along with others in Europe, say there are no available interceptor missiles for the Patriot systems in Ukraine. Meanwhile, Norway has promised more NASAMS, but they need to be built. Europe has handed over its stock of IRIS-T missiles and new ones won't be available at least until 2025. Now the US has announced it will provide $138 million in an emergency sale to maintain and repair HAWK air defense systems previously delivered to Ukraine.

Assistant to the head of the Pentagon calls for teaching Russia a lesson 'in the context of Crimea'
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Russian leadership needs to be “taught a lesson” in the context of Crimea, US Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Celeste Wallander said on April 10 at a hearing in the Armed Services Committee of the House of Representatives of the country’s Congress.

Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz asked Wallander whether it was necessary to exclude Crimea from the Russian Federation in order to “strategically defeat” Russia in the conflict. Wallander replied that it was up to Ukraine to decide.

“For me, implementing the international norm that borders cannot be changed by force is absolutely vital to teach Russian President Vladimir Putin a lesson, so yes,” she added.

Goetz clarified whether the US goals will be considered achieved without the exit of Crimea from Russia.

“For Russia to not take territory through the use of force is a strategic success for Ukraine and the United States,” Wallander responded.

The congressman, in turn, said that Crimea will never secede from the Russian Federation and if Washington has such a goal, then it is unattainable. Another committee member, Democrat Adam Smith, also said Crimea would remain part of Russia.

As Regnum reported, earlier the Washington Post, citing sources, wrote that US presidential candidate Donald Trump said in a private conversation that he intends to end the conflict in Ukraine by forcing the Kiev regime to agree to the loss of Crimea and Donbass.

Geopolitical realities changed during the conflict in Ukraine, four new regions became part of Russia, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters in April 2024, commenting on the call of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to establish peace without territorial concessions to Russia.

US State Department approved the sale to Kyiv of kits for servicing the Hawk Phase III air defense system
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Pentagon reported that the US State Department has agreed to a possible deal to sell kits for servicing Hawk Phase III anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine. The total amount of the transaction will be almost $138 million.

Previously, the authorities of the Kyiv regime asked the United States for the possibility of purchasing goods and services related to the maintenance of these missile systems.

The deal will bypass Congress. The State Department made a decision and provided detailed reasons.

“There is an emergency situation that requires the immediate sale of the above-mentioned defense goods and services to the Ukrainian government in the interests of US national security, thereby overriding the requirement of Congress to review the transaction,” the United States Department of Defense explained.

The Pentagon also assured that the planned deal will not affect US defense capabilities.

As Regnum reported, the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, emphasized that for the offensive operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, modern weapons systems are needed from Western allies, including the United States. He also expressed hope that the partners will provide Kyiv with the latest technologies for the production of the latest types of weapons.

Security forces said that the Western-made IRIS-T anti-aircraft missile system was destroyed during a strike on air defense systems in Odessa.

Washington sent the Ukrainian army weapons that were seized from the ships of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) - they were transported to Yemen's Houthi rebels.

Germany detains Iraqi couple suspected of ISIS genocide against Yazidis
[Rudaw] German authorities detained an Iraqi couple suspected of being members of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) and accused of enslaving and sexually abusing two young Yazidi girls, prosecutors said on Wednesday.

The suspects, identified only as Twana H.S. and Asia R.A., were married under Islamic law and arrested in Bavaria on Tuesday "on suspicion of genocide, crimes against humanity, as well as membership in the foreign terrorist organization Islamic State," Germany’s Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office said in a blurb.

They are accused of holding a then five-year-old Yazidi girl as a slave and later a then twelve-year-old Yazidi girl as well between October 2015 and December 2017. During that period, "Twana H.S. repeatedly raped both children. To this end, Asia R.A. prepared the room and put make-up on one of the girls."

The victims were further exploited into housework and childcare, were prohibited from practicing their faith, and were forced to partake in Islamic prayers and belief, prosecutors alleged.

In another heinous example of their actions, "Twana H. S. and Asia R. A. applied harsh physical violence to the detriment of the children in case of alleged mistakes. On one occasion, Twana H. S. hit the older girl with a broomstick. Asia R. A. scalded the younger girl’s hand with hot water and repeatedly forced both children to stand on one leg for a half hour each, as a form of punishment," according to the prosecutors.

ISIS swept through vast swathes of Iraq and Syria in 2014 and declared a so-called "caliphate" in a brazen offensive that saw the group take control of around a third of Syria’s territory as well as several Iraqi cities, including the second largest northern city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
. It was declared territorially defeated in 2017 and 2019 in both countries respectively.

During the jihadists’ brutal reign, they committed heinous atrocities, such as genocide, sexual slavery, and massacres against non-Moslems, especially the Yazidi ethnoreligious group. Christians and Shiite Moslems were also a target.

Before the couple left Syria in November 2017, they handed the girls to other ISIS members.

"All of this served the organization’s objective to destroy the Yazidi religion," their statement said.

They are being held in pre-trial detention.

German Justice Minister Marco Buschmann commended the arrests, saying "when it comes to combating forces of Evil and religiously motivated crimes against international law, our justice system has a long arm and lasting power."

More than 6,000 Yazidis were kidnapped when ISIS overran the community’s heartland of Shingal (Sinjar) in 2014. Around 2,700 remain missing, with little done to bring solace to the rescued.

In January 2023, the German parliament recognized the 2014 crimes against the Yazidi community by ISIS as "genocide." Berlin has been an essential member of the US-led global coalition against ISIS.

On Sunday, a German MP from the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party told Rudaw that Berlin has not done enough to prosecute what he said was over 5,000 suspected "war criminals" from Iraq and Syria, mostly ISIS members, who entered the country since 2014.

Germany frequently prosecutes those who committed serious crimes abroad, such as crimes against humanity, on the legal principle of "universal jurisdiction," giving Berlin the green light to prosecute international crimes regardless of where they were committed.

Bizarre moment Texas Democrat calls for black people to be exempt from paying taxes during reparations talk... before saying poor ones don't anyway
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Texas Democrat Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett called for black Americans to be exempt from paying taxes when asked about reparations for slavery.
[Moon gas]
The 43-year-old then went on to suggest it may not succeed because many poorer black people 'aren't really paying taxes in the first place'.
[Texas has no 'income tax'. They will be paying sales tax on everything they purchase. Stolen items are tax exempt.]
Crockett, a liberal freshman in the House who has called Texas GOP Governor Greg Abbott's immigration policy 'insane' and that his new laws aim 'to kill people,' made the statement on 'The Black Lawyers Podcast' last week.

When the host axed asked her about reparations - often on many far left politicians and activists wish lists - she made the bizarre suggestion after hearing about the plan from a celebrity and thinking it 'I don't know that that's necessarily a bad idea'.

'One of the things they propose is black folk not have to pay taxes for a certain amount of time because then again, that puts money back in your pocket,' Crockett explained.

#9  A long, long time ago, a black syndicated newspaper columnist named William Raspberry wrote a piece about how his great-great-whatever-grandparents were brought to America as slaves and while it sucked for them, he was grateful that it allowed him to grow up in America instead of west Africa which was a bit of a shithole at the time. Anyone expressing such an opinion today would be crucified, but it struck high school student Me as a surprisingly realistic take on the matter.

A principle of tort law is that wrongs should be righted and the victim made whole. If a person feels victimized by their ancestors being removed from their ancestral homeland, then the proper thing to do is return them to Africa with a little walking-around money. The IDF says Nahal troops killed several button men over the past day, including a cell in close-quarters combat.

Troops have withdrawn from the north and south of the Strip, but remain in the so-called Netzarim corridor, a strip of land running from the border with Israel near Be’eri to the coast.

The corridor, built around a road south of Gaza City and north of Nuseirat, enables the IDF to carry out raids in northern and central Gaza while allowing Israel to control access to the north for Paleostinians seeking to return after fleeing south.

The corridor also allows Israel to operate a crossing with nearly direct access to northern Gaza for trucks of humanitarian goods, which are secured by the army while using the artery.

The army says it is continuing to carry out Arclight airstrike

s across the Strip, hitting dozens of targets with fighter jets and drones over the past day.

According to the IDF, the targets included military sites, rocket launchers, tunnel shafts, and other infrastructure

One airstrike also targeted a Hamas cell that posed a threat to ground troops, the IDF says.

Among the sites hit are a building and rocket launcher in Jabaliya in northern Gaza used to fire a rocket at Kfar Aza a day earlier. The rocket was intercepted by the Iron Dome.

A fighter jet also struck a launcher, after troops on a pinpoint raid in the area of Gaza City’s Shejaiya neighborhood came under rocket fire from within the Strip, the military says.

IDF says recent Khan Younis airstrike killed terrorist who took part in October 7 massacre

[IsraelTimes] The IDF says a recent airstrike in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis killed a terrorist who participated in the October 7 onslaught.

Also over the past day, the Israeli Air Force struck several sites belonging to terror groups across the Gaza Strip, including buildings, rocket launch positions, and other infrastructure, according to the IDF.

Among the targets were also a building and tunnel shafts adjacent to a launch site used in a rocket attack on Re’im yesterday, the IDF says.

Meanwhile, the IDF says the Nahal Brigade continues to operate in central Gaza, where it says the troops killed several gunmen over the past day in close-quarters combat.

Additional operatives deemed by the troops to be a threat were killed in airstrikes and sniper fire, the IDF adds.

IDF confirms overnight strike killing head of Hamas ’emergency committee’ in central Gaza

[IsraelTimes] The IDF confirms carrying out a strike in Gaza’s Maghazi camp last night, killing Hatem al-Ghamri, the head of the so-called emergency committee in the central part of the Strip.

The emergency committee is a Hamas body tasked with maintaining public order and civil control in the Strip’s municipalities.

According to the IDF, al-Ghamri, in addition to being head of the emergency committee in the Central Camps, was also an operative in the Hamas military wing, responsible for rocket fire from the Maghazi area.

Palestinian media reported that at least five people were killed in the strike.

war.

"In less than two months since the operation was launched, the operation has escorted 68 vessels and has repelled 11 attacks," Borrell tells journalists.

Greek commander Vasileios Gryparis says that included shooting down nine aerial drones, one seaborne drone and four anti-ship ballistic missiles.

The EU mission — which currently consists of four frigates — has an exclusively defensive mandate and is not allowed to attack the Houthis on Yemeni soil. The United States is spearheading its own naval coalition in the area and has, along with Britannia, conducted strikes on the Houthis in Yemen.

IRGC naval chief threatens to close key strait, says response to consulate attack coming
[IsraelTimes] The commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps navy says it could close the Strait of Hormuz, a key maritime route where much of the world’s oil passes, if deemed necessary.

"We can close the Hormuz Strait, but are not doing so. However,
Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried...
if the enemy comes to disrupt us, we will review our policy," Revolutionary Guards Navy Commander Alireza Tangsiri tells pro-Hezbollah Lebanese outlet al-Meyadeen.

He says if US nuclear vessels enter Iranian waters, the Hormuz Strait "will become unusable for several years."

Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
has threatened to close the strait in response to tensions with Israel and the US in the past.

The commander also says Israel’s presence in the United Arab Emirates is viewed as a threat by Tehran.

"We know that the Zionists were not brought to the UAE for economic purposes, but rather for security and military work. This is a threat to us and should not happen," Tangsiri says.

He also says Iran is taking its time, but will eventually respond to an alleged Israeli Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
on its consulate in Syria’s capital on April 1 that killed seven Revolutionary Guards officers, including two senior commanders.

"We do not get hit without striking back, but we are also not hasty in our retaliation," Tangsiri says.

#2  When my mother married, she was gifted a complete set of copper-bottomed Revereware pots and pans. Beautiful things, perfect for small children (of which she had four in four years, because my parents started late) to bang on the kitchen floor while singing extemporaneously together. When I married, my mother gifted me my very own set of Revereware copper-bottomed pots and pan. Sadly, in the meantime the copper had gone from a full 1/4” thickness to the very palest of washes, no doubt a great cost saving for the manufacturer; it looked very pretty when first taken out of the box, but wore off as soon as I ventured necessary scrubbing.

Thus is the iron cladding of President Biden’s promise compared to those of presidents past. In my considered opinion, of course.

GIGO - Data From Nonexistent Temperature Stations Fuels Climate Change
[Epoch Times] When recalling past temperatures to make comparisons to the present, and inform future climate policy, rely in part on temperature readings from the United States Historical Climatology Network (USHCN). The network was established to provide an "accurate, unbiased, up-to-date historical climate record for the United States," NOAA states, and it has recorded more than 100 years of daily maximum and minimum temperatures from stations across the United States.

The problem, say experts, is that an increasing number of USHCN’s stations don’t exist anymore.

"They are physically gone—but still report data—like magic," said Lt. Col. John Shewchuk, a certified consulting meteorologist. Mr. Shewchuck said USHCN stations reached a maximum of 1,218 stations in 1957, but after 1990 the number of active stations began declining due to aging equipment and personnel retirements.

NOAA still records data from these ghost stations by taking the temperature readings from surrounding stations, and recording their average for the ghost station, followed by an "E," for estimate.

The addition of the ghost station data means NOAA’s "monthly and yearly reports are not representative of reality," said Anthony Watts, a meteorologist and senior fellow for environment and climate at the Heartland Institute.
"If this kind of process were used in a court of law, then the evidence would be thrown out as being polluted."

NOAA’s use of ghost temperature stations isn’t a recent phenomenon. In 2014, Mr. Watts raised the issue of ghost stations and bad data with NOAA’s chief scientist at the National Climatic Data Center, Tom Peterson, and Texas’ state climatologist, John Nielsen-Gammon, who confirmed there was an issue.
"Anthony — I just did a check of all Texas USHCN stations. Thirteen had estimates in place of apparently good data," Mr. Nielsen-Gammon wrote in an email to Mr. Watts, according to a report on the latter’s website.

"It’s a bug, a big one. And as Zeke [Hausfather] did a cursory analysis Thursday night, he discovered it was systemic to the entire record, and up to 10 percent of stations have ’estimated’ data spanning over a century."

According to Mr. Watts, ghost stations are problematic but are only part of a much bigger problem.

He explained that several different entities—such as the European Commission’s Copernicus, NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), Berkeley’s Earth Surface Temperatures (BEST), and NOAA—publish monthly and yearly climate data and advertise themselves as having "independent data."

"That is a lie," Mr. Watts said about the independent data claim.

"The USHCN data set and the [new] nClimDiv climate division data set [which uses the same stations and has the same problems] comes from the Cooperative Observer [Program] in the United States.
"Similarly, in the rest of the world, there is a Cooperative Observer [Program] that suffers from the same problems of attrition and incompetence. And it’s called the GHCN; the Global Historical Climatology Network.

"All these different entities out there, like NOAA, GISS, BEST, all the entities I listed, use the same data from GHCN. And they all apply their own set of ’special sauce' adjustments to create what they believe is true.

"It’s almost like each of these entities is creating their version of the real, true God. You know, it’s like a religion. They’re using different mathematical and statistical techniques to produce their version of climate reality.

"And it all goes back to the same original, badly-sited, badly-maintained ghost station dataset around the world. USHCN and GHCN are the same stuff. So, there is no independent temperature dataset. It’s bogus that anyone claims this."

Mr. Shewchuk said the warming the earth has experienced since the 1800s is much less than has been reported, but even if it weren’t, warmer temperatures are natural—not manmade—and not a cause for concern.

"We are still thawing out from the Little Ice Age because the Bray and Eddy solar cycles are still in their warming phases," he said. "[Carbon dioxide] is a greenhouse gas, but its contribution to today’s warming is trivial. "There is no climate emergency. In fact, all measures of severe weather are decreasing—even tornadoes and hurricanes.

Furthermore, global warming (at least the little that there is) and increasing CO2 are good for life on Earth. History clearly shows us that life thrives during warm periods (like the Medieval Warm Period) and suffers during cool periods (like the Little Ice Age).

He pointed out that even NOAA and NASA report that increased CO2 has "greened the planet" and increased plant growth, which has benefited food production.

#1  In the November 16, 1968 issue of Nature, James R. Bray first proposed the idea of a 2600-year solar-driven climate cycle based primarily upon evidence of Holocene global glacier advances and retreats. We prefer the Bray Cycle after him, but the same cycle is often called the Hallstatt Cycle. ... We use both names interchangeably to refer both to the climate cycle and the solar cycle. Bray only considered the maximum advance of a glacier field or a major re-advance that reached the near vicinity of the maximum. He used glacier fields in North America, Greenland, Eurasia, New Zealand and South America in the study.

Air Force announces formation of new ‘Battering Ram’ drone squadron
Freeing up the F-35s to go after Iran, perhaps.
[IsraelTimes] The Israeli Air Force announces the formation of a new drone squadron that will operate the Elbit Hermes 900 unmanned aerial vehicle.

The 147th Squadron, known as "The Battering Ram,"
[gives me a sense of 'lawn dart']
was inaugurated at Palmachim Airbase yesterday.

The military says the squadron was established as part of plans in the IAF to double its Hermes 900 operations amid the war, and other changes to the UAV array.

Palmachim houses the only other Hermes 900 squadron, the 166th.

The Hermes 900 drone is used by the IDF for attack and surveillance missions in the Gazoo

Speaking at the ceremony yesterday, IAF chief Maj. Gen. Tomer Bar said the new squadron was a "tremendous addition."

Russia imposes sanctions against 22 British citizens
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Russia has imposed sanctions against 22 British citizens involved in attempts to force Central Asian countries to comply with anti-Russian sanctions. This is stated in a message published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“We note the continuation by the British government of an aggressive anti-Russian course, within the framework of which London declares the task of inflicting “strategic defeat on the battlefield” on our country, actively applying the mechanism of sanctions restrictions and conducting a subversive information and propaganda campaign. In response to these hostile actions of the British side, a decision was made to include a number of representatives of government agencies, the IT sector and the UK legal services market on the Russian “stop list,” the diplomatic department said in a statement.

It is noted that among the persons included in the sanctions list are employees of the Micro Focus company, which provides Ukrainian intelligence services with software and cyber protection services that are necessary for collecting data when launching attacks on the Russian military and infrastructure.

“The activities of such IT companies, which are accomplices of neo-Nazis, lead to the death of people and can be directed against any country whose authorities do not suit the Anglo-Saxons,” the Foreign Ministry added.

In addition, Russian sanctions included individuals who are involved in activities to impose compliance with Western sanctions against Russia in Central Asian countries.

As the ministry noted, the British authorities are harming the well-being of third countries by “stubbornly and unsuccessfully trying to strangle” the Russian economy.

The ministry pointed out the futility of continuing the UK’s anti-Russian course, which will inevitably receive a tough response from the Russian Federation.

At the same time, the Foreign Ministry assured that Russia will continue to work on expanding the stop list in response to the hostile actions of the British authorities.

As Regnum reported, on March 22, Russia imposed sanctions against 56 Canadian citizens, permanently barring them from entering the country.

Thus, in particular, the bishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Diocese of Toronto Brian Bide, blogger Alik Gomelsky, and the president and CEO of Airbus Helicopters Canada Dwayne Sharett were denied entry into the country. The list also included several senior executives from the logistics company Cargojet.

The department noted that the countermeasures of the Russian side are selective in nature, in contrast to the mass “listing” of Russians practiced by official Ottawa.

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said on March 6 that the anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the West do not work, and Moscow turns them into dividends. The Kremlin spokesman expressed confidence that Russia will continue to successfully turn sanctions into dividends.

US Department of Commerce blacklists companies from Russia, China and the UAE

The US Department of Commerce has imposed export restrictions on companies from Russia, China and the United Arab Emirates. This is stated in a notice posted in the Federal Register of Official Documents of the American Government.

The list includes three Russian companies - UEC-STAR, Delta Aero and Aerosila, as well as six companies from China, and two more from the UAE.

The Bureau of Industry and Security, part of the US Department of Commerce, states in the document that these organizations, according to the US government, act contrary to the interests of national security or US foreign policy.

As Regnum reported, on March 20, the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Treasury announced that two new Russian companies and two individuals were included in the sanctions list. Restrictions were introduced against the Agency for Social Design and the Structure group of companies. Also blacklisted were Ilya Gambashidze and Nikolai Tupikin, associated with these organizations.

At the end of February, the US Treasury introduced new sanctions, which covered 26 legal entities in 11 countries, as well as companies from China, the UAE and Serbia. On March 1, a ban on the import of ungraded diamonds and diamond jewelry from Russia came into force in the United States.

The Russian side has repeatedly spoken about its ability to cope with sanctions pressure. In February, President Vladimir Putin noted that the restrictions had opened up new opportunities and sales markets had opened up for domestic companies. Putin on March 19 also called on the FSB to support companies that face illegal measures.

In turn, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that new sanctions against Moscow will not go unanswered. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the West do not work, and Moscow turns them into dividends. As the Kremlin representative clarified, these dividends, in particular, were expressed in the form of intensified work on the development of new technologies and their introduction into production.
