Amphibious transport dock ship USS Portland (LPD 27) successfully disabled an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with a Solid State Laser - Technology Maturation Laser Weapon System Demonstrator (LWSD) MK 2 MOD 0 on May 16.
LWSD is a high-energy laser weapon system demonstrator developed by the Office of Naval Research and installed on Portland for an at-sea demonstration. LWSD's operational employment on a Pacific Fleet ship is the first system-level implementation of a high-energy class solid-state laser. The laser system was developed by Northrup Grumman, with full System and Ship Integration and Testing led by NSWC Dahlgren and Port Hueneme.
"By conducting advanced at sea tests against UAVs and small craft, we will gain valuable information on the capabilities of the Solid State Laser Weapons System Demonstrator against potential threats," said Capt. Karrey Sanders, commanding officer of USS Portland.
The U.S. Navy has been developing directed-energy weapons (DEWs), to include lasers, since the 1960s. DEWs are defined as electromagnetic systems capable of converting chemical or electrical energy to radiated energy and focusing it on a target, resulting in physical damage that degrades, neutralizes, defeats, or destroys an adversarial capability.
Navy ships face an increasing number of threats in conducting their missions, including UAVs, armed small boats, and adversary intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems. The Navy's development of DEWs like the LWSD, provide immediate warfighter benefits and provide the commander increased decision space and response options.
"The Solid State Laser Weapons System Demonstrator is a unique capability the Portland gets to test and operate for the Navy, while paving the way for future weapons systems, " said Sanders. "With this new advanced capability, we are redefining war at sea for the Navy."
Portland is the 11th San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship. While it is the third ship to bear the name 'USS Portland,' it is the first ship to be named solely after the largest city in Oregon.

[JPost] - Sweden's controversial decision to keep most schools, bars, salons and restaurants open during the COVID-19 crisis while the rest of Europe shut down around could end up taking a much higher toll on the country than expected.
A study carried out by Sweden's Public Health Agency found that despite the country's relaxed distancing measures, only 7.3% of people in Stockholm have developed the antibodies necessary to fight the disease, far below the 70-90% of the population needed to achieve herd immunity. Just a small, order of magnitude, mistake in our model. Because we are real scientists - not bureaucrat fakers like Ferguson and Fauci!
The study drew on some 1,100 tests from across the country, although only figures for Stockholm were released on Wednesday. Results from other regions would be released later, a Public Health Authority spokesperson said. I wonder why? Because outside Stockholm they're worse?
...According to figures collated by the Our World in Data website, Sweden had 6.08 deaths per million inhabitants per day on a rolling seven-day average between May 13 and May 20.
This is the highest in the world, above the UK, Belgium and the US, which have 5.57, 4.28 and 4.11 respectively. Hurrah for London & NY/NJ (Belgians are simply shitheads - see wikipedia)

Herd immunity is inversely related to R-naught, yes? Measles has a R-naught of 12-18, (super contagious) and needs 92-95% for herd immunity.
COVID-19 R-naught is estimated between 1.4 - 3.9, which suggests 29% to 70% for herd immunity. Wikipedia
I've seen lower R-naught numbers than 1.4, but ain't gonna bother finding that.

My read, looking at Sweden’s curve, is that though they may not be locked down, they are strongly social distancing. Also, their numbers are distorted by excessive nursing home deaths.

^(a) R0 estimates for CV19 are based on assumptions and ideological orientation. The biggest of which is that the infection rate is biliniar (R*S*I) the old Voltera-Lotka assumption. Today we know that the true relation is better described by Beddington-DiAngelis.
(b) The concept of herd immunity is strictly theoretical one (sans immunization) - look at your own wiki article which emphasizes "temporary" for the single counter-example.
In empirical terms we know that herd immunity kicks in after we vaccinate 70 - 90 % of the population (At least in some cases the Ro is then derived by using H = 1 - 1/Ro where H fraction of immune sufficient for herd immunity. That is, you don't derive H from Ro but vise versa.)
(c) Nobody has shown yet that there is immune memory for CV19. See also (evolutionary pressure in that wiki article).
The whole story of Herd Immunity for CV19, I commented on it several times - you can find evidence for yourself with a bit of research. The true story that all* first struck countries went with idea of herd immunity (because then you don't have to do anything) and switched after hospital morgues filled up. All countries except, Sweden (who has a low population density with habits close to socially isolation already) as well as stupidity/callousness and habit of preaching ethics from the backseat of civilization.
*The one exception is Japan when their habit of wearing masks in public - no doubt upgraded during the CV19 epidemic conferred phenotypic herd immunity.

I thought herd immunity was about the rate of spreading not the death rate. You could have herd immunity and contagion slowing down and still have a high death rate if the thing got into a vunerable population.
[Frontpage] Before there was Brett Kavanaugh, there was Clarence Thomas. Many who watched or participated in the grotesque circus that was the Kavanaugh Supreme Court confirmation hearings no doubt were unaware of, or had forgotten, the ugly spectacle that was Thomas’ confirmation hearings in 1991. As a black conservative, Thomas drew (and continues to draw) the vicious wrath of racist Democrats who reserve a special enmity for minorities that dare stray from the leftist plantation. Then as now, the Democrats waged their politics of personal destruction, and then as now a good man with impeccable legal credentials was demonized by an uncorroborated allegation of sexual harassment shored up by the full force of the leftist smear machine.
A riveting new documentary revisits the Clarence Thomas--Anita Hill controversy as part of a look at the Supreme Court Justice’s amazing life journey. Created Equal: Clarence Thomas in His Own Words, produced by Michael Pack of Manifold Productions, aired earlier this week on PBS, of all places, and is still available here for free through June 2. Don’t miss it. The producers interviewed Thomas and his wife Virginia for over 30 hours about his life, the law, and his legacy. As the movie’s website states,
the documentary proceeds chronologically, combining Justice Thomas’ first person account with a rich array of historical archive material, period and original music, personal photos, and evocative recreations. Unscripted and without narration, the documentary takes the viewer through this complex and often painful life, dealing with race, faith, power, jurisprudence, and personal resilience.
In his rich, sonorous voice, Thomas, the second black American to serve on the Court and, at 28 years, the longest-serving Justice, tells his life story beginning with his birth in tiny Pin Point, Georgia in 1948. Descended from West African slaves and born into rock-bottom poverty, Thomas later was raised by his grandparents in Savannah. His stern grandfather, "the greatest man I have ever known," believed firmly in hard work and even more firmly in the education he never had, the lack of which he blamed for his inability to rise above his station in life. He impressed upon his grandchildren the importance of committing themselves to school. He told Thomas and his brother that they would attend class every day, even when sick, and even if they were dead he would take their bodies to school for three more days "to make sure we weren’t faking."
Educated by supportive Catholic nuns and feeling a calling to the priesthood, Thomas entered the seminary and excelled academically but ultimately dropped out after a fellow seminarian’s hateful response to the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. confirmed for Thomas that the church was not doing enough to combat racism. Abandoning the seminary was unacceptable to his grandfather, who told Thomas in no uncertain terms that he was on his own now. Thomas goes on in the documentary to describe how the subsequent assassination of Robert Kennedy, combined with the blows from MLK’s murder and his grandfather’s rejection, pushed him into an angry downward spiral that led to his involvement with black radical activists (interestingly, Thomas’ brother, who had served in the Vietnam War, felt that Thomas and his fellow radicals should leave the country if they hated it so much).
The rest of Clarence’s story is just as compelling: his rejection of radicalism, his graduation from Yale Law School, his ultimate drift toward support for Ronald Reagan (thus becoming a target for Democrats and their "Uncle Tom" smears), his grandfather’s death, his appointment as a Circuit Court judge under President GWH Bush, and then, of course, his nomination as a Supreme Court Justice and the relentless attacks that followed — even before Anita Hill’s allegation of sexual harassment ignited a firestorm. By refusing to conform to Democrat expectations, he was the wrong kind of black man and therefore had to be destroyed, as Thomas says in the documentary.

Judge Coughenour made the ruling in the US District Court in Seattle Monday in favor of Joseph Sam, who was arrested for robbery and assault in May 2019
Coughenour said that looking at an individual's lock screen is classed as a search meaning law enforcement cannot do this without a search warrant
An arresting officer turned on Sam's smartphone and viewed the lock screen
The judge said sometimes police officers can carry out a search without a warrant so this could have been constitutional in some circumstances
But seven months later, an FBI agent turned the suspect's phone on again and took a photo of the lock screen
The judge said this was unconstitutional because the FBI cannot conduct a search without a warrant
FBI evidence gained from the cellphone screen belonging to Joseph Sam - who was arrested for robbery and assault in May 2019 - has now been thrown out
[Progressive Party USA] Jerry Dickinson U.S. HOUSE — PA-18 - Jerry’s pathway to politics is not typical. Separated at a young age from parents who were far too poor and too sick to care for him, Jerry came up through Allegheny County foster care system.
As a Fulbright Scholar in Johannesburg, South Africa, Jerry mobilized the poorest of the poor whose slums were being gentrified by major corporations and developers. He litigated in South African courts to uphold their constitutional rights to housing and clean water.
When he returned to Pittsburgh, Jerry helped establish the first community land trust in a predominantly African American neighborhood that has been affected by increased investment by corporate developers. He has been on the front lines assisting marginalized groups to preserve affordable housing and mitigate the effects of gentrification. And on, and on. Several more endorsements follow.
The first Progressive Party was Theodore Roosevelt’s vehicle when he parted ways with the Republican Party in 1912. Bernie Sanders was the most recent, in 2016, to revive the name for his presidential aspirations.

In South Africa it's called economic progress, not gentrification. Plenty of open space for housing. It's the jobs industry and business have brought that are important. Little wonder he's no longer in South Africa. Perhaps he was encouraged to leave following the completion of his studies.

[WSJ] Spring is usually harvest time for Big Sam Williams and other New Orleans musicians.
Mr. Williams and his band, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, expected to play more than 25 shows at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in late April. During those weeks he can bring in $50,000, a big part of his annual income and enough to sustain him when the humid summer quiets the city’s streets.
This year the Funky Nation is in his driveway, socially distanced and streaming live on Facebook for tips.
"There is no side job," Mr. Williams, a trombonist, said. "This is what I do."
New Orleans and Louisiana are taking a direct hit from the coronavirus pandemic. More people in the state are currently on unemployment rolls—300,000—and more have died—2,500—than when Hurricane Katrina slammed the shores 15 years ago. The New Orleans area at one point had the worst coronavirus death rate in the U.S.
As with Katrina, the burden is falling disproportionately on black Louisianians.
Black residents make up 32% of the state’s population but 55% of its deaths from Covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. The numbers are similar in New York, Chicago and across the country.
Economists and civic leaders are warning that the deaths are only the start of what could be a devastating setback to black communities in America. Black workers are losing jobs at elevated rates and are less prepared for the shock. Many black-owned small businesses have been unable to access a government-supported loan program meant to keep them afloat.
"Even if you have been able to get ahead, these disasters set us back," said Ashley Shelton, executive director of the Power Coalition, a Louisiana advocacy group. "We are in the quiet time before the storm."
A recent study showed how little they have to fall back on. Black families have a median of only 32 cents in available cash or other liquid assets for every $1 a white family has, according to the JPMorgan Chase Institute, the bank’s internal think tank. Black families in New Orleans had only 27 cents.
The institute spent two years matching anonymous data from its banking records to race disclosures in voting records, compiling information on 1.8 million households in three states.
The JPMorgan data showed that black families cut their everyday spending after an involuntary job loss more sharply than white families, buying fewer groceries and essential goods. It also showed that black families increase health-care spending after getting tax refunds, evidence they delay regular health spending.

[American Thinker] It is obvious that people cannot make a serious judgment about anything if the information available provides only half of the truth and not the rest, or if the media present stories in a way that makes it difficult to tell the truth, or if the media express only one side of a disputed issue, or if, as Daniel Boorstin argued, an "image" is presented as a replica of reality.
Misinformation may spread if no clear official information is present. The underlying problem is that there is no simple way to prevent that spread, nor is there a single root cause behind it. Different motives and goals contribute to that spread and to the discussion of the policies, competition, and legitimacy of public authorities. The internet has brought important changes in how information is spread and how communication occurs. What is more certain is that prominent public figures play a considerable role in that the spread has regrettably been shown in the context of discussing the responsibility and activity of officials to deal with the pandemic, COVID-19, such as the transmission and the accuracy of reported mortality rates in various countries.
A difficult problem is that much of the misinformation is not completely fabricated, but is the result of spin. There is no simply way to prevent misinformation, and there is no single root cause for the appearance of misinformation, and there are different motives for it. Yet it is evident that prominent public figures play a large role in formulating and spreading information, as in the present case about COVID-19. Attempts to check statements about actions or policies of public authorities are difficult, since they are spread not only in the media, but also in emails, private channels, and above all online. According to one survey by the Institute for the Study of Journalism, misinformation accounts for 87% of social media interactions while fabricated ones amount to about 12%.
In the modern age it may be difficult to ascertain the truth with the overabundance of information and the mix of half-truths, falsehoods, and state sponsored information. Misinformation can take different forms. The most frequent is misleading content, containing true information but with altered details in ways that make it false. Another form is to describe images as something different from what they are.
There is no direct connection, but it is engaging to note the interest of fiction-writers in misinformation, disinformation, and even lies regarding themselves. They may be taking advantage of the fact that human beings are often fascinated by evil and fear of the unknown, and are titillated by accounts of extreme behavior. What else can explain the years spent by Truman Capote, writing in In Cold Blood, the story of the murder of a family in Holcomb, Kansas in 1959, or the obsession of Stephen Sondheim with Sweeny Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street?.
Bestselling French writer Stéphane Bourgoin, author of more than 40 books of fiction, many about serial killers, has recently confessed he faked his biography and invented his own experience, including his job as a professional football player and the story of his wife who was murdered in 1976 by a serial killer who confessed to the crime. But he was not a ball player, nor did the "wife" exist, but was a fiction drawn from a young woman he had met briefly in a bar in Daytona Beach, Florida. This story is even more strange because the young woman was in fact later murdered, in 1975, by a serial killer. Bourgoin claimed he had trained with the FBI in Quantico, Virginia and had interviewed 70 serial killers, including Ted Bundy and Charles Manson. His explanation for his lies and the disinformation was that he was not really loved, but he had now arrived "at a balance sheet time."

[Jerusalem Post] WASHINGTON — In 1969, Arnold Resnicoff went straight from Dartmouth to the Mekong Delta with the US Navy, and from there to the Jewish Theological Seminary to become a rabbi.
He was among a small group of veterans who advocated for the establishment of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in the National Mall here, in part because he wanted to heal the wounds the war opened among Americans. In 1982, in uniform — he had reenlisted as a chaplain — he delivered the closing prayer at the memorial’s dedication.
Now he will deliver the invocation at the memorial’s first-ever virtual Memorial Day commemoration.
Resnicoff, 73, said he will allude to the coronavirus pandemic that is keeping veterans from attending the event in person, as well as the divisions that have stoked tensions among Americans in recent years.
"Almighty God, during this time of sickness, even as we seek a cure for illness that infects our bodies, we must battle hatred and injustice — evils that afflict our souls," Resnicoff will say in a prayer he shared with the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
"The Wall has become America’s version of the Kotel: sacred ground; holy space," Resnicoff said in an email. "We leave notes at the Wall like we do in the cracks of the Kotel. So many people leave small memorabilia at the foot of the Wall that the National Park Service uses a warehouse to store them."

[Spectater - America] I am hugely bearish on the economic impact of the pandemic, but I am still adding to my pension every month and it is 80 percent invested in global equities. Why? Because the alternatives are terrible. Currently the 10-year gilt yield gives me just 0.2 percent interest a year, below inflation. I lose the purchasing power of my money by buying UK government debt.
It’s not a great bull argument for shares, but where else do I put my cash? Emphasis added.

Same reason Beijing real estate values are so high. The money has to go somewhere.
Because life will go on. Electorates will get over the shock of pandemic deaths and resume normal activities, even in the face of hundreds of thousands of additional dead per year. The asterisk? Stores may require patrons to wear masks so they don't infect each other.
Bottom line, while whatever trillions of dollars of GDP were lost during the shutdowns are gone forever, that doesn't mean we're destined for permanent economic desolation. It’s not money that powers the West. It’s talent, knowledge, skill, access to materials and governments that mostly stay out of the way as those ingredients are used to make new products and services that revolutionize the way the world lives. The rest of the world lacks one or more of the above ingredients.
We're basically doing postwar recovery without the bombed-out cities, or the loss of hundreds of thousands or millions of young people at the peak of their productivity. It's hard not to be optimistic. Postwar booms
And eventually the media will get their marching orders and move on to another "crisis". The damage to the economy is/will be real, though. If Trump and get some stifling regulations rescinded and perhaps even some tax code changes, the "post-war boom" might come even quicker.

England shut down for an entire summer in 1665; there were weeds growing on the streets of London because there was so little traffic. Commerce in the countryside was shut down, as well -- roadblocks and local militias shut down the roads. The following year London burnt down.
Modern economists don't see any break in England's economic growth through the 1600s.
The economy just needs to be unleashed; it will restart itself.

[Free Beacon] As the novel coronavirus wreaks havoc across the world, the Obama administration's ambassador to China has found a second lease on life as a pro-China talking head on regime propaganda outlets.
Former ambassador Max Baucus has given at least four different interviews to Chinese propaganda outlets in the last two weeks, repeatedly comparing the U.S. rhetoric about China to both the McCarthy era and Nazi Germany.
"Joe McCarthy [and] Adolf Hitler ... rallied people up, making people believe things that were really not true," Baucus said during a May 12 interview with China Global Television Network (CGTN), a regime mouthpiece. "The White House and some in Congress are making statements against China that are so over the top and so hypercritical, they are based not on the fact, or if they are based on fact, sheer demagoguery, and that's what McCarthy did in the 1950s."
Since his retirement in 2017, Baucus has been a reliable critic of the Trump administration's increasingly confrontational China policy—chiefly the decision to wage a trade war with Beijing. He once warned that the White House's decision to impose additional tariffs was a "slap on the face" to China. But Baucus's recent comments in the pandemic era have been more sympathetic to China—and critical of the United States—than ever before.
His post-retirement public statements praising China have coincided with his burgeoning overseas investments. In 2017, he founded the Baucus Group, a consulting firm that advises both American and Chinese businesses, according to his U.S. Chamber of Commerce biography. He also sits on the board of directors for Ingram Micro, a U.S. subsidiary of a Chinese state-owned conglomerate, as well as the board of advisers for Alibaba Group, one of China's largest tech companies.

CDC: Coronavirus 'does not spread easily' except for close contact with infected patients
[JustTheNews] The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have issued updated coronavirus guidelines that now downplay the chances of contracting the virus from surfaces, potentially offering relief to millions of Americans who have been concerned they might catch the disease from purchased groceries or delivered packages.
On its website, the CDC says that coronavirus is "thought to spread mainly from person-to-person." Yet "the virus does not spread easily in other ways."
"It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes," the CDC also states on its site. "This is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads, but we are still learning more about this virus."
Animal-to-people and people-to-animal transmissions are also unlikely, the agency states.
The new guidelines come after several months of concerns that the virus was spreading quickly and easily through items such as grocery store packaging and delivered packages.
Research announced in late-March determined that the virus could live on some materials for several days, leading to grim warnings that consumers should be wary of shopping carts, glass surfaces and other common objects.

[IsraelTimes] Expected move related to budget shortfalls caused by coronavirus pandemic; Jewish community says it needs ‘more, not less protection’
Belgium is planning to stop providing soldiers for security around synagogues in Antwerp. Happy Ramadan!
The plan, which has not been finalized, would end the army’s protection in the city’s Jewish neighborhood in September. The redeployment is connected to budgetary and manpower shortfalls in Belgium, where COVID-19 has severely impacted the economy and claimed more than 9,000 lives.
One can understand their quandary, especially at a time when so much more general policing is needed.
"The Jewish community needs more, not less, protection in these difficult times," the Forum of Jewish Organizations of Phlegmish Jews wrote in a statement published Monday about the plan.
Unfortunately, y’all will have to pay for the guards yourselves, or pay for getting some of your people trained. In America they call themselves Shomrim.
Belgian troops were first posted to guard Jewish institutions in Antwerp in May 2014 after an Islamist murdered four people in a terrorist shooting at the Jewish Museum of Belgium in Brussels, located about 40 miles south of Antwerp.
Antwerp has about 100 Jewish institutions servicing a predominantly ultra-Orthodox population of 18,000 people.
In 2018, an unidentified man was filmed stealing mezuzahs from the door frames of 20 Antwerp homes days after a Jewish man and his son narrowly escaped being rammed by a passing vehicle that swerved in their direction onto the pavement while they were walking to synagogue on Shabbat. Police said there was no indication the incident was a hate crime.
In 2017, police apprehended and briefly detained a man who allegedly assaulted a ultra-Orthodox Jewish man on the street in Antwerp while shouting "Jew."

[IsraelTimes] The suspect in an attempted shooting attack against Israeli motorists in the West Bank earlier this week was a Paleostinian police officer, Channel 13 reported Friday.
The report said the involvement of a Paleostinian Authority officer was a worrying development, noting that it had been a long time since a PA policeman was involved in a terror attack. However, denial ain't just a river in Egypt... Israeli forces did kill two Paleostinian officers in a raid in January, apparently by mistake.
The report comes as the PA was making good on its threat to end security coordination with Israel over the new Israeli government’s plans to annex parts of the West Bank.
Paleostinian security forces were retreating from areas near East Jerusalem Friday after the Paleostinian Authority ended its security coordination with Israel, multiple reports indicated, citing Paleostinian officials.
According to Kan news, the gesture was largely symbolic — a few officers moving out of the East Jerusalem satellite towns of Azzariyah, Abu Dis, Biddu and Beit Ichsa, after getting special permission from Israel to be there as part of the effort to deal with the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men... pandemic.
Channel 13 said that the PA had sent messages to Israel saying that despite ending the cooperation, it would not allow terror attacks against Israelis or a mass popular uprising.
However, denial ain't just a river in Egypt... as the shooting incident highlighted, it could be difficult for the Paleostinians to do both.
The Israel Defense Forces said Wednesday that at an attempted shooting earlier in the day in the West Bank was being investigated as a terror attack.
Citing eyewitnesses, the military said a Paleostinian suspect whipped out a rod and tried to fire at a car carrying Israeli passengers near the town of Hawara in the northern West Bank.
"The driver of the vehicle discerned the threat and began a pursuit of the suspect that included gunfire. The suspect fled," the army said.
A statement from the Shomron Regional Council, which has jurisdiction over settlements in the area, said the driver got out the vehicle and fired two shots in the air to drive off the suspect.
Two Israeli hitchhikers, aged 14 and 15, were also in the car, the statement said. It quoted one of them describing how the suspect "cocked the gun and pressed on the trigger several times," indicating it jammed.
The IDF said no one was injured in the incident and did not report any arrests.
In addition to security cooperation between the Israeli military and Paleostinian security forces, civil ties between Israel and the PA were also set to cease.
[Rudaw] Nasser al-Qardash, a senior ISIS leader newly transferred to Iraqi authority custody will prove to be a “treasure trove” of information on new ISIS strategy for the Iraqi government, security analyst Husham al-Hashimi told Rudaw's Sangar Abdulrahman on Thursday.
Iraq's state media reported an Iraqi intelligence announcement of Qardash's arrest in Wednesday, but Hashimi told Rudaw that the ISIS ringleader surrendered himself to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) after the battle for the last ISIS stronghold of Baghouz, eastern Syria in March 2019. Qardash was held in Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) detention for a year before he was handed to Iraqi forces a few days ago, Hashimi said.
ISIS swept through parts of Iraq and neighboring Syria in the summer of 2014. The extremist militant group, otherwise known by their Arabic acronym Daesh, were declared territorially defeated in Iraq in December 2017, and in March 2019 in Syria, but continue to conduct deadly attacks on security forces and civilians.
According to Hashimi, between 3500-4000 active militants and 8000-9000 inactive Daesh militants are currently present in Iraq.

Q: He was seen as a potential successor to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, so how was he arrested so easily? Why didn't he react violently when he knew he was going to be arrested like Baghdadi did, blowing himself before being detained by the Americans?
A: Qardash was arrested last year, surrendering himself after the battle of Baghouz in eastern Syria to the SDF, who handed Qardash over to the coalition forces. He was held for a year at the Haqil al-Omar prison in eastern Syria.
The Iraqi intelligence agency provided the coalition with a lot of information on Nasser Qardash, and the Iraqi intelligence agency participated in the interrogation sessions on him alongside the SDF and the coalition forces at Haqil al-Omar.
Qardash was transferred to Iraq a few days ago, after a year in Syria. Iraq is now continuing to interrogate Qardash, paving the way for researchers and psychiatrists to start getting Qardash to reveal information on Daesh, as he holds a lot of information on the group because he was its main leader in eastern Syria from 2011 to 2019.
Q: So if he was arrested in 2019, why was his detention only announced now?
A: Qardash was held in an SDF prison, under the supervision of the coalition forces - specifically the coalition's US forces. The transfer of such a Daesh leader from Syria to Iraq entails a lot of protocol and diplomatic effort.
But investigation into Qardash was continuous throughout his detention at Haqil al-Omar prison. Iraqi intelligence officers frequently visited him at the prison to interrogate him, and the Iraqis were able to force Qardash to reveal a lot of information on Daesh.
Q: With the arrest of Qardash, who will be Daesh's next leader?
A: According to local and international intelligence sources, Daesh already appointed a new leader in November 2019, which is Abu Ibrahim al-Quraishi, also known as Haji Amer Qardash or Haji Abdullah Qardash.
Daesh has alternatives, but ones that are of less value and importance than Nasser Qardash. Those who now lead the Daesh delegate committee are less powerful and skillful than Nasser Qardash.

[NPR] The sons of slain Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi say they have forgiven their father's killers, paving the way for a legal reprieve for five men sentenced to death for the murder.
"If a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah," the writer's eldest son, Saleh, tweeted Thursday. "Therefore, we the sons of the martyr Jamal Khashoggi, announce that we pardon those who killed our father."
Saudi law considers a victim's forgiveness as possible grounds for clemency in a death sentence. It is unclear under what circumstances the pardon was extended. Many of Khashoggi's family, including Saleh, currently live or work in Saudi Arabia, which is known for cracking down on dissidents.
Khashoggi's fiancee, Hatice Cengiz, who lives in Turkey, offered her own less forgiving statement that the journalists's " heinous murder" did not have a statute of limitations and that she "and others will not stop until we get #JusticeForJamal."
"The killers came from Saudi with premeditation to lure, ambush & kill him. Nobody has the right to pardon the killers," Cengiz wrote. "We will not pardon the killers nor those who ordered the killing."

BLUF:
[The Federalist] This case has no prosecutor. He resigned and all parties have not opposed the DOJ motion. Yet, Judge Emmet Sullivan, who is presiding over this case, is appointing a retired judge, John Gleeson, to fight the DOJ and see if perjury charges could be attached, given Flynn’s guilty plea. It’s absurd but predictable. This case totally collapsed, but Sullivan had already gone on record to call Flynn a traitor. He was in a position of looking ridiculous, so he’s prolonging the legal agony here. Yet, what happened to the original FBI report on the Flynn interview?
The interview would have been part of a 302 report, which has to be filed five days after speaking with those who are part of a federal investigation. It took three weeks for Flynn’s 302 to be filed, where the report was edited by those who weren’t even there, a major departure in department policy. Flynn’s legal team wanted it. The SCO refused and for good reason. This so-called case was probably over before it began because the 302 would have included citation that the agents present felt that Flynn didn’t lie, gutting the entire plot against him. To deploy countermeasures and prevent evidence of Flynn’s innocence to be exposed, the SCO leaked the legal threats against Flynn’s son, who works with his father in lobbying efforts and was on the campaign trail with him. Keep this up and your family will be locked up. Undercover Huber, who elaborated in-depth on the Manafort case mentioned above, did a lengthy Twitter thread about the FBI’s 302 on Flynn and why those who wanted to get Flynn and damage the Trump administration would want to keep this buried forever: Emphasis added.

Former president Obama was intended to be a Communist Manchurian Candidate, to be sure. It is only an accident of history and the friendship of his fellow Red Diaper Baby,
Valerie Jarrett, that most of his appearances in our archives connect to the War on Terror as an ally of the Muslim Brotherhood and Iran.
[New York Post] A bionic eye could give sight to millions in just five years, experts say.
The world’s first 3D artificial eyeball is capable of sharper vision than a real human eye.
Images are converted through tiny sensors that mirror the light-detecting photoreceptor cells.
The sensors are packed into a membrane of aluminium and tungsten shaped into a half sphere, mimicking a retina. The electrochemical eye, name EC-EYE, resembles sinister super computer HAL in 1968 sci-fi film 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Prof Zhiyong Fan, of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, said animal and clinical trials were now planned.
He said: "Our ’biomimetic’ eye has a size comparable to a human eye — a bit more than two cm in diameter. "It can be used for visual prosthesis to help the blind or those visually impaired. It can lead to a bionic eye."
"We hope to further improve our device in terms of biocompatibility, stability, and performance. "I think if everything is on track, perhaps in five years the technology will become practical."

Human vision is a miraculous thing. I have no doubt the visual cortex can probably process more data than the eyes we have now provide. Just don't turn it all on at once. For reference to what happens then, see X The Man With X-Ray Eyes.

[Washington Examiner] ATLANTA, Georgia — Embattled Sen. Kelly Loeffler traveled to Georgia with Vice President Mike Pence aboard Air Force Two on Friday and insisted she was still in the fight to hold her seat despite the fallout from controversial stock trades.
The White House has stayed out of the furor, and Trump has endorsed neither Loeffler nor her Republican challenger Rep. Doug Collins.
But any hint that the ride to Marietta marked a tacit endorsement was dispelled by officials and some careful choreography. When the vice president descended the steps onto the apron at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Collins was second in line to greet him, just after Gov. Brian Kemp.
And when Pence thanked the state’s congressional delegation during an event at the headquarters of Waffle House, he was careful to lavish each with praise.
He described Collins as "a standout in the House of Representatives and a great friend" before turning to Loeffler: "Thank you for your strong leadership in the U.S. Senate."
And when the vice president traveled back to the air base, he rode with Collins, as if to balance up the optics. Loeffler did not travel back to Washington, and Collins did not get on the plane.
A senior administration official said the Air Force Two ride did not mean there were favorites. "It shouldn’t be seen that way," said the official.
Even a day hearing from people at the front line of Georgia’s efforts to reopen businesses did not dispel the nearly $2 million in trades Loeffler made after receiving a closed briefing on the looming coronavirus crisis.
"I’m in a statistical tie for first," she told reporters. "Georgians see what I’m doing. This is a political attack based on no facts. ... We are running a very strong campaign. I have grassroots operations in all 159 counties. I’m very proud of my track record in the Senate."
[Washington Examiner] The FBI ordered an internal review of the handling of the bureau's investigation of retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn. Don't wanna rush into things, amirite?
FBI Director Christopher Wray made the call as he faces increased pressure from Republicans, who say he has been too resistant to disclosing secrets about the Trump-Russia investigation that they believe unfairly targeted President Trump and the people around him.
The "after-action" investigation, announced on Friday, will be carried out by the bureau’s Inspection Division and will focus on two areas: first, evaluating the FBI’s role in the Flynn investigation and rooting out any misconduct by current FBI employees, and second, evaluating the need to change bureau policies as a result of the Flynn case.
A statement said that the FBI will evaluate whether disciplinary measures will be necessary for any current employees, although the bureau lacks the prosecutorial authority to bring a criminal case. The statement also said the FBI lacks the ability to take any disciplinary action against former employees.
The Justice Department filed earlier this month to dismiss charges against Flynn, who cooperated with special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigators after pleading guilty in December 2017 to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. The transcripts of the Flynn-Kislyak calls are being declassified by acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell.
In moving to drop the charges, the Justice Department said that after reviewing newly disclosed materials, it agreed with Flynn’s attorneys that his interview with the FBI should never have taken place because his conversations with the Russian ambassador were "entirely appropriate." Flynn said he is "innocent" and never lied, and his lawyers claimed their client was set up.

Did Wray know or did Wray not know that the Flynn 302's had been modified?
I'm sure he knew. Was that knowledge documented in memos and emails? Probably, but most likely all filed in the "double secret probation" break glass and pull pin to erase kind of folder.

[The Hill] Hertz filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy amid rising debt and a sharp drop in demand for rental cars during the coronavirus pandemic.
The company is the latest travel-related business to fall victim to the coronavirus, which has grounded travelers and tourists and led to a sharp drop in revenue.
"The impact of COVID-19 on travel demand was sudden and dramatic, causing an abrupt decline in the Company's revenue and future bookings," the company said in a statement. "Hertz took immediate actions to prioritize the health and safety of employees and customers, eliminate all non-essential spending and preserve liquidity.
"However, uncertainty remains as to when revenue will return and when the used-car market will fully re-open for sales, which necessitated today's action," it continued. "The financial reorganization will provide Hertz a path toward a more robust financial structure that best positions the Company for the future as it navigates what could be a prolonged travel and overall global economic recovery."
The company says it has over $1 billion cash on hand to keep its sites up and running while it undergoes the bankruptcy process.
"Today's action will protect the value of our business, allow us to continue our operations and serve our customers, and provide the time to put in place a new, stronger financial foundation to move successfully through this pandemic and to better position us for the future," said Hertz President and CEO Paul Stone. "Our loyal customers have made us one of the world's most iconic brands, and we look forward to serving them now and on their future journeys."

[AnNahar] Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. Footage emerged yesterday of a man later identified as 20-year-old Jadon Hayden beating up a defenseless elderly white man by repeatedly punching him in the face.

Hayden uploaded the videos to his social media accounts but after the clips started to go viral on Twitter he was quickly arrested by police.

"The black race is the chosen race, the black race was supposed to rule the earth, but now...they have to go to the white man for everything and that’s not good," Hayden says in one video.

You have to search far and wide to find any report of this in the major news outlets. It doesn't appear in the standard News Feeds. Nothing in NYT or WaPo. Not covered by the major broadcast networks. Gee, wonder why?
I had to do multiple searches just to stumble on this brief little gem from CNN last night that was dispatched by this stringer who-- surprise, surprise--fails to even mention the perp's bizarre racist beliefs -- it's almost Orwellian in its denial of the obvious:
(CNN) A 20-year-old man is facing assault and battery charges aftera video surfacedof him attacking a 75-year-old man at a nursing home in Detroit, police said.
Yep: some person did something... and voila! a video surfaced. Note the funny use of the passive voice in the next sentence:
Video of the incident shows an elderly resident of Westwood Nursing Homebeing repeatedly punched and covered in blood.
And now the clincher:
It is unclear what preceded the incident or who filmed the incident. The suspect can be heard saying, "Get the f*** off my bed" several times in the video after beating the victim.
Nothing about the uh, er, y'now, (ahem) race of either the suspect or the victim. Nothing to see here. And now we resume our regularly-scheduled 24/7 loop program, Two Minutes Hate.

And Tucker Carlson did, indeed, start off his show with this disgusting story last night along with some other examples of abusers.
I seem to recall the mass shooting in Virginia in 2019 when it took the media almost a day to finally release a photo and "demographic info" on the killer.
There was also a shooting in Maryland where the killer not only was a person of color but also transgender. That story lasted no more than a day.

Black hate crimes/racism is far more widespread that the MSM reports and is being purposefully hidden for political motives. Yet another proof that corporate media has an openly political bias.
[Babylon Bee] LEHI, UT‐Popular for-profit genealogy company Ancestry.com has revoked the family heritage of any African American who says they would not vote for Joe Biden. The company said they made the changes to reflect prevailing social beliefs about race and culture.
"It used to be if your ancestors were from Africa and your skin was a darker pigment, then you were considered black," said Ancestry spokesperson Sheila Reinold. "Times have changed. What really determines a person's blackness now‐beyond genes, DNA, family trees‐is Joe Biden. Any other determiner of race is pure malarkey at this point."
A frustrated Ancestry.com customer, Brian Jennings of Log Ridge, Kentucky says he logged in to find his account had been wiped clean and years of ancestral research had been deleted all because he said in a recent Facebook post that he didn't think he could bring himself to vote for "some 80-year old, white, dementia-riddled uncle creepy" for president.
Reinold says that Ancestry is not abandoning customers like Jennings. "We are working with non-black blacks to places them into all-white genealogies free of charge." "Be sure to fill out your 2020 Census where we end up placing you!"
Jennings says when he began seeking ancestral matches in his new account, his first match was a guy named Jethro Reginald Tinbucket who owned a cotton farm in West Virginia in the 1800s. After resubmitting his DNA, Jennings says he has come around to the changes receiving a huge amount of new matches to long lost relatives that are still alive today. "I plan to fly out to Colorado Springs to meet my real mom next month," Jennings said. "Her name is Belinda and she didn't blow her top when she found out I like Ben Shapiro. Thanks, Ancestry."

I got an alternate theory on Biden's campaign.
He don't actually want to be president, 'cause he knows it'll be extremely tedious for him, and might end up getting him whacked by one of his underlings. The reason he pushed forward with it was to cut off investigations into his finances, and that hasn't worked. But he can't quit at this point. Or it could be flat out incompetence.

An alternative alternative theory is the Dems simply don't have anyone better. I cannot think of any prominent Democrat whose appeal is not even more selective.
Followup to actual article: Biden To Black Radio Host: If You're Considering Voting For Trump, "Then You Ain't Black"
[Babylon Bee] In a recent interview with a female representative of the segment of the human species identifying as female, Biden made a strong case for why all women everywhere should vote for him without question, or at least let him sniff their hair.
"Look, the thing, you know what it is," Biden said. "The womenfolk know what's at stake in this election. It's hairy simple. Just let me vote on you, or you vote for me, the vote, b-b-b-blond applesauce baloney. Simple choice. If you don't let me smell your hair, you ain't a woman!" Biden then sat back in his chair with a smile, having "totally nailed" another interview.
The female interviewer blinked a couple of times and followed up with some clarifying questions. "Mr. Vice President Biden, sir, if I may follow up on that, did you just say that if a woman doesn't let you stick your nose in her hair then she's not a real woman?"
"I b-didn't think I could possibly be more not clear!" Biden said with a perplexed look on his face. "If you don't let me personally walk up behind you unannounced and bury my shnozzola deep within your flowing locks of cascading curly hair, YOU AIN'T A REAL WOMAN! NO MALARKEY!"
Witnesses then walked in on Biden conversing with a Cabbage Patch doll who he mistook for a female interviewer. After hearing the news, feminists around the country responded by lining up outside Biden's house to get a complimentary hair sniff, thereby affirming their statuses as real women.

[ALMASDARNEWS] The National Counter-Terrorism Committee of the Russian Republic of Dagestan ...a formerly inoffensive Caucasus republic currently bedevilled by low-level Islamic insurgency, occasional outbreaks of separatism, ethnic tensions and terrorism, primarily due to its proximity to Chechnya. There are several dozen ethnic groups, most of which speak either Caucasian, Turkic, or Iranian languages. Largest among these ethnic groups are the Avar, Dargin, Kumyk, Lezgin, and Laks. While Russers form less than five percent of the population, Russian remains the primary official language and the lingua franca... has announced the death of 6 holy warriors that were preparing to carry out attacks on security and police personnel in Dagestan.
"As part of an anti-terrorist operation in the Khasavyurt region of Dagestan, information was received about a group of armed criminals consisting of 6 individuals, in a forest north of the village of Goksov, intending to commit terrorist crimes," the National Counter-Terrorism Committee of Dagestan said.
"When attempting to arrest them, the criminals showed resistance by using automatic weapons and grenades, so they were all eliminated," the statement said.
According to available information, this gang was linked to ISIS and coordinated its activities with this organization.
The media center stated that the gang "was planning to carry out attacks on security personnel and religious sites, as well as blackmailing businessmen to support terrorist activities financially."
[ALMASDARNEWS] A Syrian court has decided to temporarily ban the travel of businessman Rami Makhlouf, according to a copy of the decision published on the Facebook page of the Ministry of Justice on Facebook.
Makhlouf, the cousin of the Syrian President, Bashir al-Assad , and one of the wealthiest wealthy Syrians, was involved in a major row over money the government says is owed on his telecom company, SyriaTel.
The decision to issue the travel ban was based on a request by the Ministry of Communications to ensure Makhlouf pays $185 million in treasury dues from SyriaTel , which he chairs and holds most of its shares.
Ehab, Rami’s brother, had previously announced that he had resigned from the position of Vice-Chairman of SyriaTel, due to his dispute with his brother over the management of the company, pointing out that he renewed his loyalty to Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad Despoiler of Deraa... A document belonging to the Syrian Ministry of Finance revealed the precautionary seizure of the funds of the Syrian businessman Rami Makhlouf, his children and his wife, the movable and immovable funds.
According to the decision, which was signed by the Deputy Minister of Finance with the mandate, the decision, holder number 1236, comes as "a guarantee for the payment of the sums resulting from it in favor of the Telecommunications and Postal Regulatory Authority."
For his part, Makhlouf said he not opposed to paying money, but he wants the money given to the poor.

[MLIVE] State Rep. Karen Whitsett, D-bankrupt, increasingly impoverished, reliably Democrat, Detroit ... ruled by Democrats since 1962. A city whose Golden Age included the Purple Gang... , filed a federal lawsuit Thursday against Gov. Gretchen Whitmer ...Her Excellency, the dictator of Michigan, 2020 Dem VP contender... and several fellow Democrats, claiming violations of free speech and defamation.
Specifically, Whitsett claimed Whitmer and the 13th Congressional District Democratic Party Organization sought to deprive her of her right to engage in protected speech after she publicly thanked President Donald Trump ...His ancestors didn't own any slaves... for his suggestion of using the drug hydroxychloroquine to treat her coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men... case.
Whitsett contracted the virus in March and has been open about her appreciation for the president’s suggestion, which she says saved her life. While it remains unproven that hydroxychloroquine can effectively treat COVID-19, it is used to prevent malaria and to treat rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and complications of Lyme disease. Whitsett suffers from Lyme disease, and was aware hydroxychloroquine can be used to treat that disease, but didn’t know until the president mentioned it that it was being testing for use against COVID-19.
As a result, Whitsett was invited to The White House to meet with Trump on April 14. During that meeting, she again thanked Trump for the suggestion and said her condition went "from 0 to 100" after she began taking the drug.
Following that meeting, Whitsett began receiving criticism for her public statements and was eventually censured by the 13th Congressional District Democratic Party Organization. The organization took exception to her comments on the drug and the outbreak, saying they painted a picture that isn’t true and spreads misinformation.
Chris McClain, a precinct delegate for the organization who wrote the censure resolution, explained the decision to MLive last month, prior to censure vote.
"Her individual circumstance does not apply to everyone," McClain said. "She misrepresented a lot of the priorities and needs here of the community when she went to go meet with the president."

What else could she expect from her fellow Democrats? Instead of filing a lawsuit that has little chance of winning, she should change her party affiliation.

I personally feel faith is something that is in your heart, not something worn on your sleeve. That said, there are times I have been greatly relieved by the strength to be found in being part of a congregation. Lots of people have heard "Suffer the little children to come unto me," but they assiduously avoid thinking about the "it would be better if they had a millstone around their neck" part of that passage. Bad enough some old guy lost his wife because Mr. Cummo or tranny Dr. Levine put infectious people in the PCH she was living in, don't compound it by keeping him out of church as he tries to understand and cope with his gummint imposed loss.

If Churches are not essential then the media isn't either as they're both covered by the First Amendment, right? /rhet question
#4
It also puts the knickers in a twist for the leftist church hierarchies of the Catholics, Episcopalians, Lutherans, etc.
Another 3-D Chess move.

Political scientists who studied Reagan's landslide in 1980 noticed an unusual, unprecedented shift in Evangelical Christian voters' behavior: prior to the 1980 election the vast majority were either apolitical and not inclined to turn out to vote, or else voted Democratic.
IIRC the best explanation for the massive increase in not only evangelical turnout but in evangelicals voting for the Republican was that these folks became political after Jimmy Carter's DOJ made moves to take away their churches' and broadcasters' tax-exempt status. This reaction was completely off the reader of Carter's people -- even though they were all from Georgia and should have seen it coming.
Trump and Brad Parscale surely are aware of how powerful the Christian vote is. If the meme is established that these folks' churches and congregations are under attack, and that the only politician who cares at all about protecting their right to worship as they choose is Trump, then OrangeMan's real % of the vote will be far higher than the polls predict.

I'm not too hip on the tax-exempt status for the churches. I thought the 1st Amendment was meant for no establishment of a state church a la the Church of England. Anyway, that horse left the barn ages ago.
[AIER] Politically-dictated lockdowns and prohibitions have recently destroyed tens of millions of American jobs. Politicians have effectively claimed a right to inflict unlimited economic damage in pursuit of zero COVID-19 contagion. The perverse incentives driving the policy have multiplied the harm far beyond the original peril.
Almost 40% of households earning less than $40,000 per year have someone who lost their job in recent months, according to the Federal Reserve. The Disaster Distress Helpline, a federal crisis hotline, received almost 900% more phone calls in March compared to a year ago. A recent JAMA Psychiatry analysis warned that stay-at-home orders and rising unemployment are a "perfect storm" for higher suicide rates. A California health organization recently estimated that up to 75,000 Americans could die from "despair" as a result of the pandemic, unemployment, and government restrictions.
In the name of saving lives, politicians have entitled themselves to destroy an unlimited number of livelihoods. Politicians in many states responded to COVID-19 by dropping the equivalent of a Reverse Neutron Bomb — something which destroys the economy while supposedly leaving human beings unharmed. But the only way to assume people were uninjured is to believe their existence is totally detached from their jobs, bank accounts, and mortgage and rent payments.

They're playing with fire. If they set fire to the place (scorched earth aka if I can't rule, no one will), they'll find that instead of being in charge, they'll be marched up the steps to execution. It's the only way humans seem to learn from a history they've thrown away believing they're above it all.

That's the exact approach of Charlie Baker in Mass. I heard this douchenozzle on Monday, announcing his 4-step plan to 'safely' re-open the economy (that he shut down unilaterally), with some paraphrasing - 'We're going to establish an advisory board, and a working committee to study this matter, and a blue ribbon panel that's really going to study this mattyer', etc. The Beacon Hill / government employee mentality was on full display; my bureaucracy bullshit meter broke instantly.

Has anyone suggested Cuomo's motivation for returning the sick to the nursing homes was so that the State would not have to pay for their care in the new Javitts Center hospital? 'Stick it to the private sector'?

I think he was going for a two-fer. He trims a little off his unfunded pension problem and he gets to inflate his Corvid mortility rate and get more funds.
#9
Ok, so if "sovereign immunity" shields this bastard from criminal charges, can Cuomo nonetheless be sued for civil damages - wrongful death for ex. - by the relatives of the thousands he killed?
#10
Does being a governor absolve you from criminal charges? I should think Cuomo could face manslaughter at the very least. Second Degree murder is not beyond possibility. But he's a hero and orange man bad.

[ALMASDARNEWS] Israeli media revealed on Thursday that the cyber attack on thousands of Israeli sites was carried out by a group of hackers from the Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... Strip, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire... and North Africa.
Initial reports indicated that Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate JewsZionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol... was behind the attack, in light of the recent escalation against the background of an Israeli attack that disrupted an Iranian port last week, in response to an Iranian disruption of an Israeli water system.
Ronin Bergman, a military and intelligence affairs analyst, told Ynet News, that the group referred to consists of 9 hackers, who are gathered by an "anti-Israel ideology" and formed their group on April 11th.
Bergman stated that the attack was simple and uncomplicated and aimed at defaming the sites, "taking advantage of the feet and weaknesses (of Word Press) to enter an Israeli server company."
The Israeli media released a photo that it said was the leader of the hacker group, "Hello Loya".
Reports indicated that the attack disrupted the work of the sites, replaced their main pages with pictures and video clips showing destroyed Israeli cities, and broadcast an anti-Israel message in both Hebrew and English, saying: "The countdown to the destruction of the State of Israel began a long time ago."
Among the hacked websites is the Ehud Hatsla Association’s rescue teams, as well as local authorities and private companies, organizations, associations and websites of a number of museums.
One of the hacked websites, which appeared in the name of a hacker group involved in the attack, was "Hackers_Of_Savior", and it was mentioned in the video clip of this group on YouTube: "We gather here to avenge the Zionist crimes against the Paleostinians who died or bit the dust, their families and their lands."

"I need her. She fights"
[Daily Caller] White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany ended Friday’s press briefing by demanding answers from the gathered reporters.
McEnany, in response to a question about former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, treated the press to a slide show of questions that she said “any good journalist” would want to see answered.
“I laid out a series of questions that any good journalist would want to know about why people were unmasked,” McEnany began, asking whether anyone in the room had followed up on her questions.
“Oh, not a single journalist has posed that question?” she asked, introducing her slides and suggesting that they all consider the answers to her questions over the holiday weekend. “Maybe you’re visual learners and you guys will follow up with journalistic curiosity,” she added.
Her questions were as follows:
1. Why did the Obama administration use opposition research, funded by a political organization and filled with foreign dirt, to spy on members of the Trump campaign?
2. Why was Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn unmasked by Obama’s chief of staff, Joe Biden, Susan Rice, and others?
3. Why was Flynn’s identity leaked — a criminal act — to the press?
4. Why did the DOJ learn about the FBI’s interest in Flynn’s conversations with the Russian Amb. from a conversation with Obama in the Oval Office?
5. Why did James Clapper, John Brennan, Samantha Power and Susan Rice privately admit under oath that they had no evidence of collusion while saying the opposite publicly?
“It’s a long weekend,” McEnany concluded. “You guys have three days to follow up on those questions and I certainly hope the next time I ask, some hands go up. Because Obama’s spokesperson should be asked those questions, because President Trump’s spokespeople certainly would be.”
With that, McEnany closed her folder and walked out of the briefing room.
She assigned homework?? I love this woman!

[TheDiplomat] The United States approved a possible sale of heavy weight torpedoes to Taiwan, the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) announced in a statement. According to DSCA, the U.S. Department of State approved a possible Foreign Military Sale of 18 MK-48 Mod 6 Advanced Technology Heavy Weight Torpedoes for Taiwan in a deal estimated to cost $180 million. The announcement did not mark the finalization of a sale, but the approval of a potential sale. If finalized, the sale would mark the first U.S. arms sale to Taiwan in 2020.
According to DSCA, the specific components included as part of the sale would be 18 MK-48 Mod 6 AT HWT units, spare parts, support and test equipment, and other assorted materials. "U.S. Government and contractor engineering, technical and logistics support services; and other related elements of logistics support" are also included as part of the possible package.
"This proposed sale serves U.S. national, economic, and security interests by supporting the recipient’s continuing efforts to modernize its armed forces and to maintain a credible defensive capability," the Defense Security Cooperation Agency noted in a statement. "The proposed sale will help improve the security of the recipient and assist in maintaining political stability, military balance, and economic progress in the region."
Announcement of the possible sale's approval came a day following Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen's inauguration for a second term in office. At her inauguration, Tsai rejected mainland China's "one country, two systems" formulation, saying that Taiwan would "not accept the Beijing authorities' use of 'one country, two systems' to downgrade Taiwan and undermine the cross-strait status quo."
"Both sides have a duty to find a way to coexist over the long term and prevent the intensification of antagonism and differences," she added. Yeah... that'll really piss the CCP off.

[PUNCHNG] A court sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital, has stopped an Islamic holy man, Yusuf Lateef, from marrying a 16-year-old girl (name withheld) .
It was gathered that the defendant had approached the girl’s parents to marry their daughter in 2019 when the girl was 15 years old but the girl had refused.
The parents had allegedly forced her to accept the proposal and a day was fixed for the marriage.
The PUNCH learnt that the girl would become Lateef’s ninth wife.
In protest, the teenager reportedly fled her parent’s home in Odigbo Local Government Area on the day fixed for the wedding with support from her brother who lived in Akure.
The teenager was said to have reported the matter at the Ondo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development where she was sheltered for some days.
It was thereafter that the matter was charged to the Family Court in Akure where Lateef and the girl’s parents were arraigned for breaching the part three of the 2007 Ondo State Child Rights Law.
After hearing from both the defendants and the plaintiff, the judge, Magistrate Aderemi Adegoroye, ruled that the girl be returned to her parents and Lateef be made to sign an undertaking to stay away from her.
The court also ordered the girl’s family to ensure her proper care and education.
Ondo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Titilola Adeyemi, described the judgment as a victory for children in the state.
"We are excited the matter has gone that way. That will be a warning to everybody that it is ’no’ to child marriage in Ondo State. Child marriage is denying a child her future. We must make sure we work for the child to realise her future," she said.

Just another instance of the state standing in the way of true love.
[BIZPACREVIEW] U.S. Senator Tim Scott joined a chorus of voices condemning presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden ...Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids.... for "arrogant" comments he made during a radio interview.
The Republican senator from South Carolina slammed the former vice president on the "condescending" declaration he made in an interview with Charlamagne tha God, co-host of "The Breakfast Club" radio show. Scott spoke on Fox Business Network’s "Varney & Co." on Friday about Biden’s latest controversial statement.
Biden came under heavy fire Friday for saying members of the black community who have a "problem figuring out" whether to vote for him or President Donald Trump ...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US... in November "ain’t black." The Democrat faced immediate backlash as his surrogates and members of his campaign scrambled to put out the fire.
Joe Biden told black radio show host Charlamagne tha God that he "ain't black" if he's still mulling over whether to vote for him or Trump.
"Wow," Scott said in reaction.
"That is the most condescending, arrogant comment I’ve heard for a very long time. And that’s saying something," the politician told Fox Business host Stuart Varney, pointing out Biden’s history.
"The man who sponsored and led the charge on the 1990’s crime bill that locked up more African-American males than any other piece of legislation," he said.
"And President Trump comes along, and through his criminal justice reform, corrects the absolute mistakes made by Joe Biden, for him to make such an arrogant, ridiculous comment," he added.
"If you think about the numbers, 1.3 million African-Americans voted for Trump. He’s saying to 1.3 million African-Americans that you’re not black?" Scott asked. "Who in the heck does he think he is? That is the most arrogant, outrageous comment that I’ve heard in a very long time and I take offense to that."
In a tweet about Biden’s interview, Scott said it was "par for the course for Democrats to take the black community for granted."
Jemele Hill: What Joe Biden Said About Black Voters 'Was Accurate'
[BREITBART] Former ESPN sports commentator and current Atlantic writer Jemele Hill, jumped to Twitter Friday to defend Democrat presidential candidate Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden ...When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened.'... ’s contention that if you’re confused about who to vote for, "you ain’t black."
Hill was incensed over the shock many whites experienced when they heard Biden say that black people are not black unless they intend to vote for him in November. The former vice president made the comments on Friday on the Breakfast Club radio broadcast cohosted by rapper Charlamagne tha God.
"If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black," Biden told Charlamagne after the radio host said, "It’s a long way until November; we’ve got more questions."
After the Internet erupted with condemnation for Biden’s comments, Hill jumped into the controversy to defend Biden.
Initially, Hill insisted that white people have no place to condemn Biden’s comments.
"Me watching white folks act outraged on behalf of black folks because Biden said, ’if you vote for Trump, you ain’t black’ ... as if these same white folks are in any position to speak about black identity or the black experience," she wrote.
Joe Biden Regrets 'You Ain't Black' Comment: 'I Shouldn't Have Been Such a Wise Guy'
[BREITBART] Former Vice President Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden ...When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened.'... expressed regret Friday for decreeing that African-Americans aren’t really black if they have trouble deciding to support him over President Donald Trump ...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US... , saying he’s "never" taken the black community’s vote for granted and "shouldn’t have been such a wise guy."
"I should not have been so cavalier. I’ve never, never, ever taken the African American community for granted," Biden said during a call with black business leaders, according to CBS News news hound Ed O’Keefe.
"I shouldn’t have been such a wise guy," he added."I shouldn’t have been so cavalier. No one should have to vote for any party based on their race, their religion, their background."
Earlier Friday, Biden declared Friday that if black Americans cannot decide whether to back him over President Trump, "then you ain’t black."
Biden made the ridiculous unsolicited racially-charged comment as he wrapped his virtual interview with The Breakfast Club.
"If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black," Biden said to Charlamagne, not in response to a question, but after the radio host’s remark: "It’s a long way until November, we’ve got more questions."
[DAILYCALLERNEWSFOUNDATION.ORG] A columnist for The Nation defended 2020 presidential candidate Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden ...We hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women created ... by the — you know — you know, the thing... from allegations of sexual assault by his former senate staffer Tara Reade, saying, "I would vote for Joe Biden if he boiled babies and ate them."
Columnist Katha Pollitt would vote for Joe Biden even if she believed Reade’s allegations of sexual assault, she wrote in her Wednesday column. "Fortunately, I don’t have to sacrifice morality to political necessity," she wrote.
Reade has accused Biden of kissing her, touching her, and penetrating her without her consent in 1993 when she worked for him as a senate staffer in Washington, D.C. Biden has repeatedly denied these allegations.
The Nation writer listed several examples of horrible things that the former vice president could do that would not prevent her from voting for him and voting for President Donald Trump ...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party... — including eating boiled babies.
"I would vote for Joe Biden if he boiled babies and ate them," Pollitt wrote. "He wasn’t my candidate, but taking back the White House is that important. Four more years of Trump will replace what remains of our democracy with unchecked rule by kleptocrats, fascist ...anybody you disagree with, damn them... s, religious fanatics, gun nuts, and know-nothings."
The Nation columnist, who has written for the publication since 1980, told the Daily Caller News Foundation that "some people didn’t like my dark humor and comic exaggeration," regarding the boiled babies comment.
Biden has previously said that voters should choose between voting for him and believing Reade’s allegations. "Well, I think they should vote their heart and if they believe Tara Reade, they probably shouldn’t vote for me," Biden said on MSNBC last week. "I wouldn’t vote for me if I believed Tara Reade."

Moloch would hang his head in shame at some of the stuff Leftests do. Murdering unborn babies in the womb... for convienance? No Moloch has nothing on Planned 'Parenthood'.
[BIZPACREVIEW] The Senate voted along party lines Thursday to confirm Rep. John Ratcliffe, R-Texas, as President Trump’s director of National Intelligence. Ratcliffe will replace Richard Grenell, who has been the acting director — Grenell has held the post since February, while retaining his role as U.S. ambassador to Germany.
Unfortunately, for Democrats, Ratcliff is expected to maintain the same commitment to transparency as Grenell, who reinforced that stance in a Twitter dust-up with Rep. Eric "I Farted on National Television" Swalwell, D-Calif.
Swalwell, a failed Democratic presidential hopeful best known for appearing to loudly pass gas on live television, leveled baseless accusations that Grenell and Ratcliffe are protecting the president.
