37 Mass Shooters Who Were On Antidepressants
[Thought Catalogue - 11 Sep 2019] Every time there’s a mass shooting in America it understandably starts up another "national conversation" about gun rights because, by definition, there would be no mass shootings without guns.

But since mass shootings are perpetrated by an extremely tiny minority of gun owners, many of whom don’t even own their guns legally, perhaps it’s naïve to think that gun ownership is itself the sole or even primary cause of mass shootings. Countries such as Norway, France, and Switzerland—all of which have stricter gun laws and lower per-capita gun ownership than the United States—have far higher per-capita rates of mass shootings.

When searching for other reasons for mass shootings, people blame things such as one-parent households, video games, loss of religious faith, or simply the vague sense that the nation is falling apart.

Although only 8.6% of American males are on antidepressants at any given time, they seem much better represented as a percentage of mass shooters. Here are 39 mass shooters who were either on antidepressants at the time of their rampage, had abruptly quit taking their medication when they went on their spree, or had been prescribed antidepressants at some point in the past. None of this is to imply that antidepressants make certain people go on mass shootings—just as few people with guns go on shooting sprees, so do few people on antidepressants. But it is an area that is definitely worth researching.

#1  Again, people with emotional and mental issues taking drugs that help with mental and emotional issues is as shocking as finding that a cancer patient is taking chemotherapy drugs.

#2  Even if every single mass shooter were on anti depressants, it wouldn't prove that antidepressants cause the mass shooting. What should matter is the percentage of people taking antidepressants who commit mass shootings.

#3  All it proves is a lot of fucked up people do a lot of fucked up things. And they were on antidepressants. So are a lot of fucked up people on them, but they don't kill people.
Posted by: DarthVader || 07/10/2022 17:50 Comments || Top||

#4  Honestly, the quest to blame antidepressants for mass shootings is no different than the quest to blame guns. Both movements place the blame on inanimate objects, and so both ignore the reality that people -- damaged, sick people, but still people -- chose to commit these atrocities.

But both routes let people ignore that, and to convince themselves there's a simple solution that's being blocked by bad people with evil motivations. I guess it's easier than being an adult.

#6  I see no reason this shouldn't be investigated, but only in regards that all aspects of the path that lead to it should. Evidence is evidence, some leads nowhere, some leads to reasons. Nothing should be written off without actual reason, no matter what it is. Now, once there is reason, all well and good.

#8  Correlation is not causation, and as the article points out, a number of factors have been proposed as driving spree killings. More research is definitely a good idea before making claims.

In the meantime, though, training and arming staff at soft targets is a good idea, and changing the tone of the reportage to discourage copycats would be helpful. I was pleased to read, in one of the articles about the most recent one, that when the then-future killer stopped in at a synagogue during services, he was closely examined by congregants, some of whom regularly carried concealed weapons by arrangement. The spokesman thought afterward that the killer was casing the place and decided to take his massacre elsewhere.

Donald Trump Calls for Drug Dealers and Human Traffickers to Get Death Penalty
[Breitbart] Former President Donald Trump called on drug dealers, human traffickers, and those who kill police to get the death penalty during a Save America rally held in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Friday night.

Trump said:

So this is a little controversial. And I will either get a standing ovation – and I don’t care about the ovation, I care about the country – or people are going to walk out of the room for what I’m about to say. But it’s time finally to say it. If you look at countries all throughout the world…The only ones that don’t have a drug problem are those that institute the death penalty for drug dealers. They’re the only ones, they don’t have any problem.

Trump also added that human traffickers and those who kill police should face the death penalty.

“Those who kill police officers as well as those who kill through human trafficking,” he continued.

“So we can be streetwise tough and smart and end our problem or we can be politically correct, weak and frankly, extremely stupid,” Trump said. “Which is probably the way we will continue to be and lose millions and millions more people to a scourge the likes of which our country and most other countries have never seen before.”

“So do something about it. It’s The only way you’re going to win the only way you’re going to win all right,” the former president added.

Trump’s comments about drug dealers receiving the death penalty are aligned with reports during his presidency in 2018 that he supported the policy.

Axios’ Jonathan Swan reported that Trump secretly favored the policy in February 2018. However, just one month later, Trump came out in public support of the policy.

“If we don’t get tough on the drug dealers, we are wasting our time,” he said at the time. “That toughness includes the death penalty.”

Trump campaigned in Las Vegas on Friday night on behalf of Adam Laxalt, candidate for U.S. Senate, and Sheriff Joe Lombardo, candidate for governor. Trump is scheduled to speak in Alaska on Saturday in support of Sarah Palin’s candidate for U.S. House and Kelly Tshibaka’s run for U.S. Senate.

DHS Report Finds Mounted Border Patrol Agents Did Not Whip Haitian Migrants… But Punished Anyway
[Breitbart] Border Patrol agents on horseback did not whip or strike migrants with their reins during a mass migration event in Del Rio, Texas, in September 2021. Customs and Border Protection officials released the findings of an Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) investigation on Friday. In addition to training and policy changes, the findings will still be used to pursue formal disciplinary actions against four mounted agents.

The announcement and release of the investigative report comes nearly nine months after the incidents in question. The investigation began shortly after the September 2021 incident near an outdoor encampment under a bridge holding roughly 15,000 mostly Haitian migrants. Ultimately, more than 30,000 migrants entered the United States in Del Rio in what would become the largest mass migration event in the agency’s history.

Activities conducted by Border Patrol agents during the migration event were captured on video and still photography by freelance journalist Paul Ratje. The images were widely circulated and sparked claims that agents were whipping migrants. Further examination, however, led many to concede the images showed agents using long reins to control the horses.

CBP convened a Discipline Review Board (DRB) to consider the individual conduct of four agents involved in the incident and has proposed disciplinary actions. The four agents have been performing administrative duties since the investigation began.

Under the Border Patrol’s collective bargaining agreement, the agents will now be afforded the right to contest the findings.

According to a source within CBP not authorized to speak to media, the employees are facing a suspension without pay for fewer than 14 days.

Half of Swedish Police Who Were at Muslim Easter Riots Claim Mental Health Problems
Coulda been worse.
Coulda been a small town school in Texas.

[Breitbart] Half of the police officers who attended the Muslim Easter riots in the city of Örebro say they have experienced mental health problems following the violence that saw several officers attacked and injured.

A total of 64 police officers claim to have suffered mental health problems following the riots that took place in the Sveaparken over Easter in reaction to Danish anti-Islam activist Rasmus Paludan threatening to burn a copy of the Islamic Qur’an in the city.

“Initially, we had quite a few sick leaves, partly due to physical problems but also for… mental problems. There are a lot of thoughts and concerns, as there were many police officers who feared for their lives,” Erik Hiding, chairman of the Police Federation in the region of Bergslagen, told broadcaster SVT.

According to the broadcaster, the 64 officers reported mental health issues following the riots, including problems with anxiety, difficulties sleeping, and difficulties eating.

A total of 135 officers were present during the riots in Sveaparketm and 50 officers were forced to seek medical treatment due to the violence against them by the mob of rioters, with reports of officers suffering various injuries such as bone fractures, concussions, and damage to teeth after the rioters hurled rocks and other projectiles.

Last month, officers who were at the Sveaparken riots stated that they feared for their lives during the violence, with one officer saying: “I was really scared. I was absolutely convinced that I would be beaten to death if I were to fall or something like that.”

Four men were convicted of crimes relating to the riots at the end of June, accused of violence toward police and sabotaging police operations during the riots.

Two of the four men convicted were also sentenced to be deported from the country as well, as they were foreigners.

Feds Seize 5,000 Pounds of Meth Setting Record for California Border County
[Breitbart] Federal and local law enforcement officials seized a record-setting load of cartel-connected methamphetamine in San Diego County, California. The drugs, loaded 20-foot box truck, weighed in excess of 5,000 pounds and are reported to be the largest seizure in San Diego County.

During the afternoon of July 7, federal officials observed a box truck enter the U.S. through the Otay Mesa Commercial Port of Entry, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California. Law enforcement agencies surveilled the truck to its destination in National City, California. The agents watched as the alleged drug smugglers unloaded the truck into a Dodge van.

At that point, law enforcement officers moved in and arrested Rafael Alzua, 37; Mario Contreras, 41; Ethgar Velazquez, 44; and Galdrino Contreras, 41, prosecutors stated. Officials listed all four suspects as residents of Tijuana, Mexico.

An inspection of the boxes revealed more than 5,000 pounds of drugs that later tested positive for methamphetamine.

The case is being investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, Border Crime Suppression Team, Homeland Security Investigations, and the United States Border Patrol.

The four men from Mexico now face charges of Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine. If convicted, each could face a prison term of ten years to life and a fine of up to $10 million.

13 Times Joe Biden Was Involved in Family Business Corruption
[Breitbart] President Joe Biden was involved in his corrupt family business at least 13 times over nine years.

While Joe Biden and his staff have claimed seven times the president has had no part in the family business, overwhelming evidence suggests Joe Biden has not just been involved in the family business but has played a key role with his son Hunter and brother James.

The evidence includes photos of Joe Biden meeting family business partners, Hunter’s former business partner’s testimony about Joe Biden’s involvement, Joe Biden flying to foreign countries to meet with Hunter’s business partners, and a voice recording of Joe Biden calling Hunter about a Chinese business deal.

The evidence has convinced 58 percent of voters that Joe Biden has played a role in his family’s business. Sixty percent say Hunter Biden, a key member of the family enterprise, has sold “influence and access” to Joe Biden.

Biden: My flight from Israel to Saudi Arabia is a symbolic step to normalization
[Jpost] Biden will be the first president to fly from Israel to Saudi Arabia.

US President Joe Biden's flight from Israel to Saudi Arabia would be a small symbol of "budding relations and steps toward normalization" between Israel and the Arab world, Biden said in an op-ed published in The Washington Post on Saturday.

In the article in which Biden explained to the American public why he was going to visit Saudi Arabia next week, Biden said he will be the first president to fly from Israel to Jiddah, Saudi Arabia.

Ahead of Mideast Trip, Biden Hails Restoring Funds to Palestinians After Trump Cut Them

[Breitbart] In an opinion piece riddled with misleading information and outright lies, President Joe Biden hailed his administration’s decision to restore funding to the Palestinian Authority, credited his administration for stopping the last war between Hamas and Israel, and defended his decision to visit “pariah” Saudi Arabia.

In the piece, titled “What I hope to accomplish in Saudi Arabia and Israel” and published in the Washington Post on Saturday, Biden vowed to keep “human rights” and “fundamental freedoms” on his agenda.

“My views on human rights are clear and long-standing, and fundamental freedoms are always on the agenda when I travel abroad, as they will be during this trip, just as they will be in Israel and the West Bank.”

Oddly, the president took credit for ending the 11-day conflict between Israel and the Hamas terror group in May 2021, even though the ceasefire deal was brokered by Egypt.

“In Israel, we helped end a war in Gaza — which could easily have lasted months — in just 11 days. We’ve worked with Israel, Egypt, Qatar and Jordan to maintain the peace without permitting terrorists to rearm.”

It is also highly unlikely that the conflict would have lasted months. There is no precedent for such an occurrence, with previous flare-ups between Hamas and Israel lasting as little as a week.

Biden also praised his administration’s decision to reinstate funding to the Palestinian Authority. The Trump administration cut aid to the Palestinians over its so-called pay-for-slay scheme paying convicted terrorists and their families, which the PA has deemed a “noble national deed” that will never be stopped. According to the PA’s Finance Ministry, roughly NIS 100 million ($30,000) is paid out per month to around 35,000 terrorist prisoners and their families.

“We also rebuilt U.S. ties with the Palestinians,” Biden wrote. “Working with Congress, my administration restored approximately $500 million in support for Palestinians, while also passing the largest support package for Israel — over $4 billion — in history. And this week, an Israeli prime minister spoke with the president of the Palestinian Authority for the first time in five years.”

Biden also hinted at expanding ties under the Trump-led Abraham Accords normalizing ties between Israel and Arab nations. He pointed to his direct flight from Israel to Saudi Arabia a sign of things to come between the two nations.

“On Friday, I will also be the first president to fly from Israel to Jiddah, Saudi Arabia. That travel will also be a small symbol of the budding relations and steps toward normalization between Israel and the Arab world, which my administration is working to deepen and expand.”

Biden is due to land on Wednesday for a whirlwind trip to Israel that will include meetings with Israeli leaders, a tour of the newly minted Iron Beam air defense system, a visit to the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem, and a speech at the opening ceremony of the Maccabiah Jewish Olympic games.

The American president will meet with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Bethlehem, and is expected to announce measures aimed at strengthening the PA, a senior US official told The Times of Israel.

I Felt Trapped': Sexual Abuse of Teens in the Military's J.R.O.T.C. Program
[NYT] PICAYUNE, Miss. — With the rifle skills she honed in the Mississippi backwoods, Victoria Bauer had a path to escape the trap of drugs and dead-end jobs she saw most everywhere around her. Her future was in the Marines, she decided, and she had an idea about how to get there.

Across the way from her freshman algebra class, Ms. Bauer approached Steve Hardin, the retired Navy intelligence officer who guided the high school’s Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps, a leadership program sponsored by the U.S. military at high schools across the country. He welcomed her into the fold, she said, and seemed interested in how her family, which traced roots back to the Four Winds Cherokee of Louisiana, had been displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

Soon, her 45-year-old J.R.O.T.C. instructor was messaging her on Snapchat late into the night, telling her that it would "drive the guys crazy" if she wore a "small bikini" during the trip to their next out-of-state shooting competition. Then one night in 2015 as he drove her home from rifle practice, she told investigators, Mr. Hardin pushed his hand into her pants and penetrated her with his fingers — the start of what she said was months of sexual assaults. Ms. Bauer, who was 15 at the time, feared that resisting him would jeopardize her shot at advancement through the J.R.O.T.C. ranks or a military career.

"I gave all the body-language signals that I didn’t want it," Ms. Bauer said in an interview. "I didn’t feel like I had a choice."

Shocking video shows elementary school kids in San Francisco getting off bus and being forced to pick their way through crowd of homeless drug addicts shooting up in broad daylight
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Ricci Wynne, 37, a self-described recovering addict, posts videos of San Francisco's open-air drug market

  • This one shows elementary school kids filing off a bus in the Golden Gate city at 8th Street and Mission past dozens of sickly users nodding out on the sidewalk

  • Wynne says the government's permissive drug policies have failed and his videos are taken to bring awareness and take back the streets of San Francisco

  • In December, Mayor London Breed declared a state of emergency because of the rampant drug use in the Tenderloin District

The open-air drug den in the video which the young children are forced to walk through is just a block away from the city's notorious taxpayer-funded Linkage Center, which quickly became a site for addicts to take illicit drugs on the street in broad daylight.

The Tenderloin Linkage Center was set up in January in a bid to direct the city's homeless drug addicts towards services that could help them, including medical care and rehab.

It was opened after Mayor London Breed declared a state of emergency in the Tenderloin district and calling for police to crackdown on open drug uses and dealing.

The site, which is said to have cost $19 million in taxpayer cash, treated just one in every 1,000 users and failed to cut fatal overdose numbers. Only 0.1 percent of those using the site Between January and April, just 18 of the 23,367 drug users who visited the site were referred for treatment.

Furthermore, the rate of fatal overdoses has not declined in a meaningful way: in January the office of the chief medical examiner reported 49 deaths, and last month there were 45.

And the center even went on to quietly drop the word 'linkage' from its title, because so few of the drug abusers who visited were being linked to any meaningful form of help.

After fierce backlash, the center will close by the end of the year after Breed said its lease will not be renewed.

Instead, Breed has talked about opening up a 'safe consumption site', and proposed spending $4 million on projects in the Tenderloin next year such as street or park improvements.

Last month, the city's district attorney, Chesa Boudin, was recalled after voters lost faith with his progressive policies.

Iowa man used his secret fortune to send 33 strangers to college
[CBS] Dale Schroeder was a simple, humble man from Iowa, who ended up changing the lives of 33 people forever. Schroeder worked as a carpenter at the same company for 67 years. He grew up poor and had no wife or children of his own.

His friend Steve Nielsen described Schroeder as a "blue collar, lunch pail kind of guy."

"Went to work every day. Worked really hard. Was frugal. Like a lot of Iowans," Nielsen told CBS Des Moines affiliate KCCI-TV.

Schroeder ended up paying for 33 strangers' college tuitions. The group, who has dubbed themselves "Dale's kids," got together earlier this month to honor the man who changed their lives. They're now doctors, teachers, therapists — and friends.

There's just one thing Schroeder asked for in return. "All we ask is that you pay it forward," Nielsen said. "You can't pay it back, because Dale is gone, but you can remember him and you can emulate him."

Biden: 'I Apologize For My Latest Teleprompter Gaffe, End Apology'
[Babylon Bee] WASHINGTON, D.C. — Leader of the free world and President of the United States Joe Biden issued an apology to the American people for an embarrassing blunder that had occurred earlier, stating the following:

"As President, the buck stops with me, pause for dramatic effect. Earlier, I read the wrong words in the teleprompter, don't say telecommuter or helicopter. I apologize for my latest teleprompter gaffe, end apology."

Following the public statement, members of the press were quickly ushered out of the fake press room and off the premises where the duct tape was removed from their mouths. The journalists then began reporting on the relief of having a gracious, humble president who was not Trump.

Biden aides quickly logged into Twitter to remind everyone that Biden did not actually say those things that the whole world watched him say.

At publishing time, Biden's Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre had responded to questions about his capacity to serve as president with the poignant reminder she was a black, gay, immigrant woman.

-Great Cultural Revolution
One week's headlines reveals deep and pervasive dysfunction in American culture
[American Thinker] Last week, the following articles were published in various news sources in America.

  • Exclusive: Army Training Says Soldiers Must Shower with Transgender Persons of Opposite Sex
  • Jean-Pierre: ’For sure’ White House approves protest of Kavanaugh steak dinner
  • Biden sends 5 million barrels of U.S. oil to Europe, Asia despite soaring gas prices
  • Illegal Alien Gets $15K Bail After Allegedly Plotting July 4th Mass Shooting with Another Illegal Alien
  • Self-Defense Is Now Murder in Soros DA Bragg’s NYC — Update
After Trump Gave Medal of Freedom to American Heroes, Biden Just Gave One to Anthem-Hating Megan Rapinoe
  • Education Journal Publishes Call to ’Eradicate Whiteness,’ Send It ’to its Grave’
  • Drag Queen Story Hour Activist Admits to Subverting Traditional Understandings of Sex
  • Sen. Elizabeth Warren: Crisis Pregnancy Centers Outnumber Abortion Clinics 3-to-1, And That Has To Stop

In them is revealed some of what has gone dangerously wrong in American culture. All reveal a deeply dysfunctional, deliberately chaotic, and pathetically nihilistic country gone off the rails thanks to progressive policies emanating from this White House, Democrat operatives, "progressives," and sympathizers. Everything is precisely backward from what it should be were the country psychologically, spiritually, and politically healthy.

We have the American military, once the finest fighting force on the planet, being forced to accept and embrace transgenderism in the shower, the most intimate place a person could be with others. We cannot fight a war to defend our people and our soil when the fighting force is split along a sexual and gender fault.

We have the White House and Democrat politicians who are fine with harassing and protesting, violently if necessary, SCOTUS justices who voted in a way that is distasteful to progressives. This goes against the American idea that in politics you win some and you lose some. The Left believe they should always win. This is political narcissism, unhealthy at best, freedom-killing at worst.

We have our president selling oil from America’s strategic reserves to Europe at the very time when our oil prices here in America are skyrocketing due to a shortage in supply which in itself is due to Biden & Co. shutting down our own production to placate the green agenda. Our reserves are reserved for America. That is why they are called reserves.

We have two illegal aliens plotting a July 4th massacre on our soil. One was given a measly $15,000 bail. The other was simply charged with being in possession of a firearm as an alien. Were they January 6 protestors, they would have been given life behind bars.

    -Land of the Free
‘All your child are belong to us'
[American Thinker] No Democrat has actually said "all your child are belong to us," but every time I read a story about the Democrat push to sever the parent-child relationship, I’m reminded of that long ago Japanese video game with the horrible translation: "All your base are belong to us." Beginning with Lenin, all totalitarian takeovers have involved co-opting children and breaking them away from their families. We’re seeing this with a vengeance in the medical field, where children as young as 12 can make unilateral medical decisions—including destroying their bodies with dangerous hormones and mutilating surgery.

Vladimir Lenin, who formed the Soviet government in 1917, was quite explicit about the importance of children to the cause. "Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted." The core of Hitler’s growing cultural takeover during the 1930s was the Hitler Youth organization, which skillfully taught children to ally themselves with the state and against their parents. During the Iran-Iraq war, the mullahs outfitted children with cheap trinkets that they were promised were keys to heaven and then sent them out to do battle against hardened Iraqi troops. As Mussolini said, "Everything in the State, nothing outside the State, nothing against the State," and totalitarians have applied that rule to children too.

What does this have to do with children and healthcare? A little explanation may help.

What one needs to understand in America in 2022 is that the Democrat party is no longer your father’s party. Those of us older than 50 or so, vividly remember when our parents and their friends would get together and talk politics. Regardless of party, they had the same social, economic, and political values. They just believed in different ways to achieve their political goals.

It is obvious, parents must have clearly defined legal rights and authority. As Government now seems to be ruled by the less than 4% that comprise the over-indulged politically represented Immoral Oddities of the Liberal Socialist Democrat party.

Many of which, are clearly seen by the American Psychological Association (APA) as having serious mental illness issues. Remember, we are told to follow "The SCIENCE", except when it shows how stupid or weird the Left is.

But, no matter how you look at it. This very, very, small group is actively pushing their Immoral Mental Illness based lifestyles on us and our kids that make up the 95+% of what we call semi-normal society.

#9  Antidepressants are just incidental. An effect of a symptom of a deeper malaise. It begins with faulty academics, invasive government and rampant malignancies of liberal philosophy destroying the institution of family. Divorces, affairs, restraining orders, abuse, just no sanctity of the patent-child relationship anymore. And it's gaining takers everywhere now, not just in America.

The availability of firearms too is incidental, a factor that's just there. What's at fault is the feeb alphabeteers and judiciary who force society to accommodate damaged people with negative value to society. Philosophy that accords them sympathy for being victims of the civilizational malaise is fine too, as long as it stays confined to taxpayer funded rose gardens at funny farms.

But government will have none of that. It can't. You see, loonies have proliferated so much that now they are constituencies full of 'em! And they're represented by powerful loonies.

Antidepressants were just a necessity, like guns. It was a downward spiralling so ial order that made them necessary. Of course, demand ➡️ supply. And the corporations profit off peddling both to all and sundry. The role of a righteous State is to provide conditions where neither are in great demand. But then the State's full of grifters and motherfcukers on-the-take.

I remember it started with the psychiatrists, as they conveniently codified their half-baked theories based on who was fit for integration into the industrial machine and who were individualistic outliers. The film Matrix is somewhat about that. Then came the problems at school, the delinquency given a pass by assholes and idiots in legislatures and school districts. The whole 'fuck you, mom, I hate you!' thingy. Hollywood was certainly no help, it only beat the hammer harder, driving more and more nails into the lid. The straying from religion was a major factor in all of this, I know some of you will disagree, that's okay.

Children should not need mental healthcare at all, in an even remotely prosperous society. Unless they have genuine problems of course. Truth is, the Democrats envision a society that can be regulated easily, with just 'triggers' and stern voices. And fir that they'll go to the length of intruding into families, breaking them apart, intruding into churches, into sound doctrine, into your minds if need be... to produce unhealthy individuals.

#10  It's late but I"ll put in two cents worth.
I once read that people in the west during the Victorian were generally smarter and healthier than 20th century Americans.
My feeling is the drug era beginning in the 1950's and the survival of the weakest by modern medicine has contributed to the human race becoming dumber and mentally less healthy than in the past. Drugs damaging the DNA and weak individuals reproducing is beginning to take it's toll on Americans. Top that off with politicians putting party before country and we have a mess.

    #1  Snippet from the article:

Now, what’s the Wuhan lab up to now?

Well, it may come as a surprise to you that at the Wuhan lab, they’re now working on monkeypox viruses. In fact, they’re more than working on monkeypox viruses. They’re assembling new monkeypox viruses.

According to one study underway at this moment, “Since MPXV infection” (what would be monkeypox) “has never been associated with an outbreak in China, the viral genomic material required for qPCR detection is unavailable,” and therefore the lab has to engage in “viral DNA recombination’s” creating a fragment of the virus from the ground up, which they call a “fail safe.”

In other words, Frankenstein crap with monkeypox. Amazing.

    NIH - Abstract Text
The funding supports a clinical trial to identify effective treatments for monkeypox virus disease. Monkeypox virus is a re-emerging pathogen that causes monkeypox virus disease, a disease of epidemic potential that causes significant morbidity and can result in death. Human monkeypox cases have been increasing in sub-Saharan Africa since 2000 and sporadic outbreaks outside of Africa have occurred, with cases in the US and the UK in 2021. The similarity between MPXV and the variola virus, coupled with concerns about the potential of the variola virus as a potential bioterrorism agent, have placed monkeypox treatments at the forefront of public health and scientific research agendas in many countries.

    Europe
Germany’s Evolving Counter-Extremism Policy Towards the Muslim Brotherhood
Key paragraphs, more at the link.
[EERADICALIZATION] Since the Moslem Brüderbund’s arrival in Germany in 1950, the German policy towards the Brotherhood has gone through several phases. In the first phase, there was a huge lack of understanding of the phenomenon and the risk posed by Islamism in general and the Moslem Brüderbund in particular. The Brotherhood established itself in Germany via Said Ramadan (1926-1995), the son-in-law of the founder of the Moslem Brüderbund, Hasan al-Banna (1906-1949). In the 1960s, Said was put in charge of a "Mosque Construction Commission" for a house of worship in Munich. In cooperation with the Egyptian businessman Yusuf Nada and the Syrian-Italian Ghalib Himmat, the mosque became the headquarters of the Brotherhood in not only in Germany but the whole of Europe.[1]

The mosque Commission developed into a coordinating node for the Brotherhood presence in Germany, linking mosques, Islamic centres, and various front groups and associations across all major German cities. In the mid-1980s, this structure became the main representative of the Brotherhood in Germany, and it was renamed the Islamic Community of Germany (Islamische Gemeinschaft in Deutschland or IGD), under the guidance of Mehdi Akef, an Egyptian Brother, who became the Imam of the mosque and later the Supreme Guide of the Brotherhood overall.[2] The Brotherhood presence in Germany was reinforced by a flow of Brothers from Egypt and Syria, fleeing the government crackdowns on their activities. The Syrian Brothers who settled in Germany after the failure of their full-fledged rebellion in the early 1980s tended to concentrate around Aachen, near the border with Belgium. The Syrian-dominated Aachen node of the Brothers cooperated with the Egyptian Brothers in Munich, but the two remained separate.[3]

The lack of understanding and the indifference of German policy-makers enabled the expansion of the Brotherhood presence all over Germany. As one German diplomat stated: "There was a prevalent view that conflicts between the Moslem Brüderbund and its governments were of no concern to Germany and that these were ’domestic quarrels’. Our policymakers did not grasp the relevance of the Islamist movement because religion was widely considered to be an important factor for underdevelopment and the Islamists seemed backward-oriented while the dictatorships in the Middle East were seen as modernizing elements".[4]

Be Armed; Shoot Back If Terrorists Shoot At You, Then There Will Peace–Cleric Tells Nigerians
[SaharaReporters] The holy man urged Nigerians in areas ravaged by terrorism in the North to buy arms for self-defence, adding that until residents begin to defend themselves, there will be no peace in such areas.

According to Daily Post, this was contained in one of his sermons at the church’s headquarters, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, in which he urged Nigerians to shoot back when they are shot at.

He said, "All of you in the North, hear me: don’t do that Christianity; you too carry your walking stick. Buy walking stick and be walking with walking stick.

"All of you in the North, brothers and sisters, get good walking stick so that when you walk, the walking stick can support you.

"All of you in Kaduna, hear me: get good walking stick so that it can support you when you are moving. They are not the only ones who know where to buy walking stick.

"If they shoot, you too shoot; if they fire, you fire. Then there will be peace. Defend yourself."

SaharaReporters earlier reported that the Zamfara State Government advised the residents of the state to acquire guns to defend themselves against terrorist and bandit attacks.

The directive was contained in a special government announcement signed by the State Commissioner for Information, Hon Ibrahim Magaji Dosara.

In the special announcement, the government said it had directed the state police commissioner to issue licences to all those who were qualified and were wishing to obtain guns to defend themselves.

It said the state was ready to facilitate people, especially farmers to secure basic weapons to defend themselves, adding that it would establish a centre for the collection of intelligence on the activities of informants.

Zamfara is not the first state that has called for self-defence amid deteriorating insecurity across the federation. Recently, Ondo State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, noted that the governors "can no longer fold their arms or rely exclusively on the distant federal police to adequately protect the lives and property of residents."

Nigeria: Before We Are All Kidnapped
[SaharaReporters] The first casualty of capricious election seasons in Nigeria is security. Governance is abandoned, and all efforts and expense are dissipated on party politics. Nigeria’s security insalubrity is deteriorating steeply as the 2023 elections close in. It is all reminiscent of the build-up to the 2015 elections when ubiquitous violence seized the country and the elections had to be postponed. Will it be again as it was before? Will it be plus ca change?

On July 3, Udo Peter and Philemon Oboh, both priests of the Catholic church, were kidnapped by button men in Edo state. The button men reportedly kidnapped the Catholic priests on Benin-Auchi expressway. On July 4, the despoilers kidnapped Emmanuel Silas, a Catholic priest, in Kaduna state. Silas was reportedly kidnapped in Zambina, Kauru LGA of the state.

On June 25, the ravagers killed Vitus Borogo, the chaplain of the Catholic Church in Kaduna Polytechnic. Borogo was reportedly killed at the Prison Farm, Kujama, along Kaduna-Kachia road. Weeks before this incident, Joseph Bako, a Catholic priest who was kidnapped in March from his residence at St John Catholic Church, Kudenda, Kaduna, was found dead.

UAE-backed forces reinforce positions in Shabwah province
[HODHODYEMENNEWS] Military factions affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) have reinforced their deployment in Ataq, the administrative center of Shabwah province, southern Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
This came a few days after the STC militias took over the most important security files in the rich-oil province, in conjunction with the appointment of its most prominent leaders as head of the counter-terrorism faction.

Informed sources confirmed that joint patrols of the STC and the Shabwah Defense Forces deployed during the past hours, in the ports and streets of the city of Ataq.

For the first time in years from the Islah special security forces, which were recently removed from the province, were not participating in the security patrols, the sources said.

The STC’s factions are seeking to tighten their grip on Shabwah, securing a supply line to the oil plateau, which is moving to topple it completely in the coming days.

These developments coincide with the continued march of TTC forces on the positions of Islah forces in an attempt to expel them once and for all from the southern provinces.

The Ondo State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, has disclosed that forces of Evil are relocating southward to take refuge in the forests.

Biden's approval rating craters to 30% after brutal week
[NYPOST] President Biden’s approval rating has crashed to just 30%, its lowest mark yet, in a new national poll.

The Civiqs Poll’s daily tracking survey of registered voters found less than a third of Americans giving the thumbs-up to Biden’s on-the-job performance — and a whopping 57% disapproving.

    "Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. S Joe's wife and daughter weren't killed by a drunk driver. He didn't graduate with three or even two degrees, wasn't in the top half of his law class, and his daddy didn't come home from a hard day's work in the mines and play football with the guys. The NAACP hasn't endorsed him every time he's run....
’s presidency is sinking from a thousand holes in the boat," said GOP consultant Ryan Girdusky.

The poll, released Friday, found Biden deep underwater with voters in every age bracket, every educational level, and both genders. Every one of those groups showed approval rates under 40%, with the youngest voters, age 18 to 34, among the most dissatisfied at a dismal 21%.

In only two states out of 50, deep-blue Hawaii and Vermont, do Biden’s supporters outnumber his detractors.

Democrats and black voters are the two groups still in the president’s corner, the survey found — and not by much.

#1  Civiqs does all polling from people who have volunteered to be polled and affirm that they are registered voters. For each question, a sample of the volunteered is selected. It is done on line.

All people polled have given Civiqs info on age, party affiliation, age, etc. which cuts down on the time needed by the person being polled.

This method seems to result in low approval ratings compared to other methods.

Emerson polling, which tends to produce relatively high Biden approval numbers has a mix of landline and on line people being polled.

Other pollsters use other methods. When Gallup did daily tracking they used land line for many years then mixed land line and cell. Gallup no longer does daily polling.

#13  Polling trends leftward overwhelmingly without the need for content bias by the authors. Conservatives are culturally more private and unwilling to share opinion, skewing even honest polling efforts. Further, most polls use a "weighting" methodology to claim representative opinion, further weighting answers leftward. Note the Cato Institute observation regarding Republicans with a post graduate degree as an exemplar:
"Taking these results together indicates that a significant majority of Americans with diverse political views and backgrounds self‐censor their political opinions. This large number from across demographic groups suggests withheld opinions may not simply be radical or fringe perspectives in the process of being socially marginalized. Instead many of these opinions may be shared by a large number of people. Opinions so widely shared are likely shaping how people think about salient policy issues and ultimately impacting how they vote..."

Conversely, the most leftist liberals are the most vocal:
"Strong liberals stand out, however, as the only political group who feel they can express themselves. Nearly 6 in 10 (58%) of staunch liberals feel they can say what they believe. However, centrist liberals feel differently. A slim majority (52%) of liberals feel they have to self‐censor, as do 64% of moderates, and 77% of conservatives. This demonstrates that political expression is an issue that divides the Democratic coalition between centrist Democrats and their left flank."

Southern Movement calls for resistance against Saudi invaders
[HODHODYEMENNEWS] The Southern Movement, which is participating in the National Dialogue Conference, called on Thursday to line up and confront the Saudi-led coalition and occupation, as it is the real enemy of all the Yemeni people.

The Southern Movement affirmed in a statement that it stands and supports the uprising of the people of the occupied southern and eastern governorates against the occupying invaders and their local tools.

“The invaders and their tools were not enough with restricting the living conditions and services to the people of the occupied governorates, but they also used the most horrific and deadly means, especially the deadly societal pests such as drugs,” the statement said.

It added that the hate, regionalism and sectarianism speech promoted by the occupying countries in the southern and eastern governorates is a form of falsehood and deception through which they want to strike the one Yemeni social fabric.

It considered that all plans and projects of the forces of aggression and occupation will be destroyed with the awareness of the people of the southern provinces.

“We are confident and even bet that all the schemes and projects of the forces of aggression and occupation will be destroyed on the rock of your national awareness,” it said, addressing the people of the southern and eastern provinces. “There is no fear or danger for any Yemeni from his Yemeni brother, rather the danger lies in the destructive foreign projects of the countries of aggression and occupation, which target Yemen, land and people without exception.”

Report: Somali president plans talks with parliament on possible ties with Israel
Truly we live in an age of miracles. Bless you, President Trump.
[IsraelTimes] A spokesperson for Somalia’s president said on Saturday that the government is set to consult parliament on the possibility of establishing diplomatic relations with Israel, Hebrew media reported.

Reports by Channel 12 news and Kan news could not be immediately verified.

Somalia media reports last month claimed President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud recently held contacts with Israeli officials while on a trip to the United Arab Emirates, even flying to Israel, according to one report. These reports were denied.

Mohamud secretly met with former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel in 2016 while serving his first stint in office, which ended in 2017.

Upon his reelection to the job in May, a Somali diplomat close to Mohamud told The Times of Israel that his return to power was a positive development for a potential normalization process between Mogadishu and Jerusalem.

Israel does not have diplomatic relations with the East African nation, which has a population of some 11 million. Somalia, a mostly Sunni Moslem country and a member of the Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...
, has never recognized the State of Israel.

There have been sporadic reports in recent years of growing ties between Israel and Somalia.

A lower-level meeting was held in Jerusalem in December 2015, involving representatives from the Economy Ministry and officials from Somalia, according to a bigwig close to Mohamud.

The report on possible normalization with Somalia comes against a backdrop of flourishing official ties between Israel and some Arab countries, as well as a push by Israel to strengthen its ties in Africa.

In addition to developments with Somalia, Channel 12 reported that Muse Bihi Abdi, President of Somaliland, an autonomous, relatively stable region of the country, recently told US officials he was making overtures to Israel but without any response.

In May, Israel’s embassy in La Belle France organized a conference, inviting French and African journalists, diplomats, entrepreneurs, and artists to examine the future of Israeli cooperation with African countries and businesses.

Somaliland was represented at the conference by its defense minister.

The Abraham Accords, a joint peace declaration initially signed on September 15, 2020, officially normalized diplomatic relations between Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Israel. In December 2020, Morocco and Israel inked a normalization agreement, establishing full diplomatic relations. Then, in January 2021, Sudan signed on to the accords, symbolically declaring its intention to advance normalization with Israel.

Irish Court Jails Nigeria Man Who Attacked Ex-Girlfriend For Casting Impotence Spell

A 52-year-old Nigerian man, Rotimi Adeyemo from Carrickdale Gardens in Portadown, has been nabbed
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
for attacking his ex-partner, as he believed she cast a voodoo spell on him which caused erectile dysfunction.

A father-of-six who appeared at Belfast Crown Court via a videolink was nabbed
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
    on Wednesday

Mr Justice Fowler who imposed an eight-year sentence revealed the sustained attack involved strangulation, kicks, punches and the use of a knife.

The domestic incident was further aggravated as it was carried out in the presence of the woman’s eight-year-old daughter, who begged Adeyemo to stop the attack on her mother, Fowler said.

The suspect appeared at Belfast Crown Court via a videolink with Maghaberry, where his sentence was divided equally between prison and supervised licence.

According to Irish Times, the man was initially charged with attempted murder, which he denied, but later pleaded guilty to a charge of causing grievous bodily harm to his ex-partner with intent.

She sustained multiple injuries including a collapsed lung, bleeding to the brain and fractures to her ribs, nose and jaw and spent three days in the Royal Victoria Hospital.

The court ruled that prior to the attack, which occurred on August 3rd, 2019, the defendant and the accused had been in a relationship which had ended.

Adeyemo started dating one of the woman’s neighbours which caused acrimony between the former couple, following this break-up.

Crown barrister Barra McGrory QC said that two days before the attack, Adeyemo called at his ex’s home and accused her of casting a voodoo spell on him that had affected his potency.

Saying it was the Crown’s case that this was a "key factor in the offending in terms of motivation", Mr McGrory said the woman told Adeyemo there was no spell and he should go to see a doctor.

At 7.15am on August 3rd Adeyemo returned to her house and, once inside, he launched an immediate attack which started by him grabbing her by the throat leaving her unable to speak or breathe.

Adeyemo proceeded to carry her by the throat to the kitchen where the attack continued. Threatening to kill her, Adeyemo picked up a knife with his free hand which he used to try to cut her throat.

The woman fought back in an effort to keep the knife from her throat and was put to the floor where the strangulation continued.

At this point, she managed to grab a plate and smash it over Adeyemo’s head, causing a bleeding wound, which she later told police caused Adeyemo to "completely lose it".

The attack continued in the backyard and was seen by neighbours who called the police. It was also witnessed by the woman’s daughter, who begged Adeyemo to stop.

The badly injured woman was also punched and kicked in the face, lost consciousness and came round while being tended to by police on her sofa.

The aftermath of the attack was captured on police body-worn footage and was described as "harrowing" by Mr Justice Fowler.

In this footage, the woman can be seen with serious facial injuries, while Adeyemo was recorded complaining she had put a spell on him to stop his penis from working.

While the woman was taken to the hospital where she was treated for multiple injuries, Adeyemo was arrested.

He told police during his interview that his ex-partner was into witchcraft, reiterated the claim about the spell and said he drank half a bottle of Baileys before going to her house.
    Bailey's? That weak-ass liqueur?
Mr Justice Fowler said that after reading a Victim Impact Statement, it was clear the violent mostly peaceful incident has had a lasting effect on her.

She now avoided going out and had become isolated, installed security cameras so she could feel safe in her own home and now suffered from nightmares, the judge revealed.

Mr Justice Fowler said he had considered submissions by defence barrister Gavan Duffy QC, which included Adeyemo’s clear criminal record, his good work record while living in Northern Ireland for the past 16 years, a complete lack of any prior domestic violence and the remorse he has since displayed.

Ten false statements from NATO summit exposed in Spain
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[RIA Novosti] Rafael Silva, a journalist for the Spanish newspaper Rebelion , analyzed the statement made after the NATO summit in Madrid and announced ten false statements found in it.

The author called NATO a brutal tool to "achieve dominance over territories, possession of natural and energy resources and new markets by force", and stated that the ten points listed in the publication are only a partial list of false claims.
Sounds like an unbiased observer, right?
The first lie Silva called the statement about the defensive nature of the alliance.

"They would still say that NATO is a pacifist organization, to be sure it would be false and senseless," he added.

Inglourious bastards: Europe prefers to forget about its mercenaries today
The reporter stated that the military bloc was created to protect the interests of specific countries and has always emphasized military escalation.

The journalist called the accusations against Russia of expansionism and imperialist aspirations and the calls addressed to Moscow to stop the special operation in Ukraine as the second lie . He pointed to the unwillingness of NATO to negotiate and the continued supply of weapons to Kyiv.

"To say that Putin has expansionist aspirations is an absolute lie. Since 1949, only NATO has expanded. The organization has increasingly surrounded Russia," Silva said.

Another statement that does not correspond to reality is a statement about the unprecedented strength and cohesion of the alliance. The journalist complained about the expansion of the presence of NATO forces in Spain , although the organization calls Russia a threat - it does not have common borders with the kingdom.

He also criticized the attitude towards Moscow as the main threat. According to him, the United States needs this to maintain the outgoing world hegemony.

Fifth paragraph in the article: "China is a challenge to NATO values." Silva saw it as a provocation and hostility towards a culture that simply does not look like the West, as well as another example of using the alliance in the interests of the United States.

The next lie is NATO's readiness to defend "every inch of its territory." The author called it an aggressive and arrogant statement aimed at intimidating other countries.

“NATO countries should have promoted a policy that would guarantee that not a single centimeter of the country and in general any territory will not be attacked,” Silva wrote and urged politicians to be good negotiators, and not behave like hooligans.

The journalist called the statement about the discussion of problems with global warming by NATO the seventh lie. Silva explained that the military organization cannot be interested in climate issues, since the army, according to him, pollutes the environment the most.

Poland is confident that the Baltic will become an inland sea of NATO
"NATO will also take care of the southern flank," Silva called another deceitful claim by the alliance. The journalist explained that the alliance decided to fight terrorists in Africa and migration from the region. The reporter accused NATO of creating conditions for the flight of people from developing countries to the rich - wars, poverty, theft of resources, the overthrow of governments.

Silva also criticized the statement about the need to increase the military budget in the countries of the alliance to two percent of GDP. The journalist pointed to the need to invest in education and medicine, and not in the army.

"The countries of the North Atlantic Alliance are the antipodes of the culture of peace," he added.

The author called the statement about the danger and unpredictability of the world the tenth lie. In his opinion, this is the most cynical and scandalous statement.

"It is precisely because of the policies of organizations such as NATO that the world is becoming more dangerous," he stressed.

Silva accused Western leaders of unleashing wars and a "policy of looting" against entire states. This is what makes the world a powder keg, the journalist stressed and said that humanity needs the dissolution of NATO.

#1  yes claiming you will resist aggression is vile provocation to would be aggressors, the poor dears. The trouble is that nobody but would be aggressors likes that idea unless they wish to become slaves themselves, which they mostly do not want to do.

Poor Putin believes probably correctly that Russians in former states of the USSR are in danger, but not from NATO or from the West. They are in danger from militant Moslem extremists in all the various 'stans' of Asia that were part of the USSR. If such haters gain power Russian Christians like Putin will be in grave danger in any one of them.
The USSR lost in its attack on Afghanistan in part because many and perhaps most of its soldiers from such parts were more loyal to their religion than to their own government.
Somehow one has to believe he is worse off in picking a fight with the West to deal with this problem than Hitler was in attacking the degenerate West when really afraid of the USSR.
Unfortunately, we shall see how this works out with pro aggressors so well distributed among soo called Demorcrats in this country, especially at the top of our government.

It has been very successful, they came within a hair of being the government of Austria for example, same with Bulgaria.

Now the Russian attack on Ukraine has exposed all this and it's past time we free people stop letting evil, hateful murderous bastards like Badanov have access to our systems.

Iran switches to advanced centrifuges for uranium enrichment — IAEA
[DW] The UN's nuclear watchdog, the ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency, has found that Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites....
is now using machines that allow it to switch more easily between uranium enrichment levels.

A report by the ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) found that Iran is changing the process of uranium enrichment at its underground Fordo plant.

Iran has informed the UN agency that the country is using IR-6 centrifuges with "modified subheaders," the IAEA told DW on Saturday. According to Iran, the declared purpose of the enrichment process is to create uranium isotope enriched up to 20%.

This remains well below the 90% enrichment level that is needed to create weapons-grade uranium.

The special subheaders that are now in use allow for easier and faster switching to higher purity levels.

According to a report by the Rooters news agency, Iran is obligated to inform the IAEA if it changes its enrichment targets. But if Tehran chooses not to do, the change might escape detection for some time.

    UKRAINE WAR RAISES THE STAKES
Iran has repeatedly insisted that it has no intention of developing a nuclear weapon. Also, Iranian scientists are already enriching up to 60% at locations outside the Fordo plant.

The latest changes are likely to spark additional concern as Western politicians scrambling to revive the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran. Under the deal, which was dismantled by US President Donald Trump
...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party...
in 2018, enrichment levels were capped at 3.67%.

Iran has signaled that it would not unilaterally abide by the currently defunct accord. Though the United States has sought to revive the deal since Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. An incredibly corrupt version of Jar-Jar Binks, only well into his dotage. The dumbass who abandoned Afghanistan....
took power in 2021, Iranian diplomats have called for new concessions, including lifting at least some sanctions, before the country agrees to new limitations.

Iran has also reportedly requested guarantees against another US pullout. Earlier this year, Tehran and Washington also clashed over Iran's Revolutionary Guard, with the US refusing to remove the "terrorist" label from the corps. The Biden administration (aka the Wilmington comorra)
...the gang of subgeniuses trying to pass themselves off as the adults in charge of the series of calamities characteristic of the administration of a mentally challenged geriatric case...
says the demand is not linked to the nuclear proliferation deal.

But the Ukraine war has given the West more reasons to secure a thaw with oil-rich Iran, as European powers struggle to replace Russia's energy deliveries.

    Africa Subsaharan
ISWAP Terrorists Hijack UN Food Trucks Meant for Internally Displaced Persons In Borno

    Terrorists of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
in West Africa Province (ISWAP) faction of the Boko Haram
...not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
have attacked a convoy of four food trucks meant for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and resettled communities in Borno and intercepted four of them.

According to Daily Trust, the attack, which occurred Thursday night around Layi village in Mobbar Local Government Area of the state, came barely 48 hours after holy warriors launched a heavy attack on Kuje Medium Security Prison in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) freeing at least 69 Boko Haram suspects and hundreds of others.

The ISWAP on Wednesday grabbed credit for the attack.

Top security sources who were briefed about the Borno attack told Daily Trust that the food and nutritional products consignment belonged to the United Nations
...aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society...
’ agency, World Food Programme (WFP) and was on its way to Damasak.

It was part of the palliative by the WFP’ intervention for IDPs from Abadam and victims of the Boko Haram violence returning to their homes in Mobbar.

"The attackers were in four gun trucks. After heavy attacks on the convoy, they succeeded in intercepting four of the vehicles and emptied nearly everything from the vehicles," the source said.

It was also gathered that the holy warriors are now firming up their control of major roads and strategic areas in the southern and northern parts of Borno.

Intelligence sources in the area have reported that ISWAP members in four trucks have been deployed to Kareto village in Mobbar Local Government Area.

As part of their expansionist activities, the terror groups are said to have concluded plans to conduct eid prayers in some of the areas under their control, today (Saturday).

Credible sources said like what obtained in the past years, Boko Haram members loyal to late Abubakar Shekau
...the lunatic leader of Boko Haram who has been reported dead at least eleven times, pledged his body and soul to ISIS, told his fighters to hang it up once or twice, and been fired by the Caliph and refused to step down. Last seen in 2017, sneaking into Cameroon while wearing a burka...
, and those loyal to ISWAP led by late Abu Musab Albarnawi, the son of late Boko Haram founder Mohammed Yusuf, have, among others, cleared grounds around the shores of the Lake Chad and Sambisa forest and would observe the Eid-el-Kabir prayer there.

They, therefore, called on security agencies to checkmate the effrontery of the holy warriors saying they use such festivities for massive recruitments of innocent people into their fold.

One of the sources said even though, Nigerian security forces have uprooted Boko Haram fighters from many villages and forested areas in Borno and neighbouring Yobe State, they are still lurking around in many communities.

"The holy warriors are fully mobilised for celebrations at many Tunbus (islands) on the Lake Chad and their enclaves in Sambisa Forest," he said.

Another source said with the commencement of the rainy season, Nigerian troops are constrained by environmental factors which is affecting their performance.

    Sri Lanka
Sri Lankan President flees, PM calls for emergency party meeting; Pres, PM to quit
    [PUBLISH.TWITTER]

Protesters demanding the resignation of Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa breached security barricades and entered his official residence, braving tear gas and water cannons forcing the leader to leave his compound.
Rajapaksa left his official residence at about 10:00 a.m. this morning, his secretary Gamini Senarath said over the phone, adding that he could not contact the leader currently and didn’t know his whereabouts. Earlier, French news agency Agence La Belle France-Presse cited an unidentified defense official as saying that Rajapaksa was escorted to safety away from the compound.

Civil-rights activist muppets, religious leaders and artists were among thousands from across the South Asian island who gathered Saturday at an oceanfront protest site near the presidential residence in the capital, Colombo.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has called an emergency meeting of party leaders to discuss the current situation, a text message from his office said.

Ahead of the protest, Omalpe Sobitha, a senior Buddhist monk at one of the main monastic orders and an outspoken critic of the government, told news hounds the crisis is not the result of famine or natural disaster but mis-governance.

Sri Lanka is in the worst tailspin of its independent history, with inflation seen hitting 70%. It has been facing shortages of everything from fuel to medicine for months, prompting protests that led to the resignations of all the Rajapaksa family members who were in the government, except for the president.
    The Times of Israel adds:
Sri Lanka’s president and prime minister agreed to resign Saturday after the country’s most chaotic day in months of political turmoil, with protesters storming both officials’ homes and setting fire to one of the buildings in a rage over the nation’s severe economic crisis.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said he will leave office once a new government is in place, and hours later the speaker of Parliament said President Gotabaya Rajapaksa would step down Wednesday. Pressure on both men grew as the economic meltdown set off severe shortages of essential items, leaving people struggling to buy food, fuel and other necessities.

Police had attempted to thwart promised protests with a curfew, then lifted it as lawyers and opposition politicians denounced it as illegal. Thousands of protesters entered the capital, Colombo, and swarmed into Rajapaksa’s fortified residence. Video images showed jubilant crowds taking a dip in the garden pool. Some people lay on the home’s beds, while others made tea and issued statements from a conference room demanding that the president and prime minister go.

Fighting Escalates Among Turkish-Backed Factions In Syria’s Hasakah
[NPASyria] On Thursday at midnight, fierce festivities erupted between two groups of a Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian opposition faction in the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), northeast Syria, that is occupied by Ottoman Turkish forces and their affiliated factions.

A local source told North Press Agency, "Fierce festivities erupted between two groups of Hamza Division
...the largest armed faction in the Sere Kaniye area, originally trained by America and Turkey to fight against the Assad government, but since deteriorated to occupation troops...

The reasons for the festivities are disputes between leaders of the combating groups and a dissident attempt by one of the groups, according to the source.

As a result, casualties and maimed were reported in both groups, and members of the Ottoman Turkish-backed Military Police, who intervened to diffuse the festivities, also were maimed, as some of them were critically maimed so that they were transferred to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

Media outlets belonging to the opposition said that two Ottoman Turkish children were maimed by bullets fire by the clashing groups in the city of Ceylanpinar, a district of Sanliurfa Province in southeastern Turkey, while they were sleeping on roofs of their houses.

Successive festivities, insecurity and crime prevalence in areas occupied by Turkey and its affiliated factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), sparked resentment among social media pioneers.

Some activist muppets described areas that Turkey names Peace Spring in northeast Syria as "Terror Spring", and others called Turkey and the SNA factions criminals and thefts.

Residents of Sere Kaniye, who woke up to sounds of clashing that lasted until dawn, said that the "Peace Spring areas completely lack peace and security," while others, dignitaries and residents of Sere Kaniye called for joining hands against the occupiers and pull them out of the city.

Also, social media outlets called for staging demonstrations in Sere Kaniye on Friday, condemning ongoing security chaos, kidnapping and killing.

In October 2019, Ottoman Turkish forces, with the support of the SNA factions, launched the military operation "Peace Spring" against Sere Kaniye and Tel Abyad under the pretext of pushing the fighters of the Kurdish-majority Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) away from the Ottoman Turkish border with Syria.

As a result, they seized many areas in the abovementioned areas and displaced approximately 300,000 civilians, human rights

The Ottoman Turkish-occupied areas in north and northeastern Syria continue to witness a state of security chaos and instability amid the SNA factions’ inability to maintain the situation.

Israel has given up on harming Iran’s uranium enrichment — report
Shhhh.... Pay no attention to us...
[IsraelTimes] Jerusalem said focusing on other areas of nuclear program as it assesses Iran
...The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both...
already has enough enriched uranium for a bomb, according to TV network

Israel has largely given up on further harming Iran’s uranium enrichment capabilities, Channel 12 news reported Saturday.

"Iran already has enough enriched uranium [for one or more bombs]," the network said without citing a source.

The network assessed that this was the reason for alleged Israeli attacks against other factors related to Iran’s nuclear programs, such as liquidations of scientists and strikes on missile development bases, and a focus on Iran’s weaponization program — the capacity to mount a bomb onto a missile.

Israel is widely believed to have carried out various acts of sabotage against Iran’s nuclear program, including cyber-attacks and physical sabotage at enrichment facilities, as well as the killings of scientists, engineers and other officials key to the Islamic Theocratic Republic’s nuclear development efforts.

On Tuesday, Iran claimed that it had arrested Mossad agents who were planning to assassinate nuclear scientists in the country.

The announcement did not detail the alleged agents’ nationalities or how many people were tossed into the calaboose. There were no further details given on the alleged plot.

Iran often detains individuals it claims are linked to foreign intelligence services without providing public evidence.

Last month, it was reported that Iran suspects Israel killed two Iranian scientists several weeks ago by poisoning their food, as tensions flared between Tehran and Jerusalem amid Iranian progress on its rogue nuclear program and a series of mysterious deaths in Iran.

ISIS Claims Responsibility For Assassinating SDF Leader In Syria’s Deir Ez-Zor
[NPASyria] On Thursday, a leader of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) lost his life in a shooting by unidentified gunnies in a town east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria, which the Islamic State

Organization (ISIS) grabbed credit for hours later.

The ISIS-run agency Amaq publicized a statement saying that the ISIS snuffies targeted the SDF leader in the town of Abu Hardub, 80 kilometers east of Deir ez-Zor, with machineguns, wounding him, and later to succumb to his injuries.

A military source of the SDF in Abu Hardub said that the gunnies, who were riding a cycle of violence, fired on the 35-year-old SDF leader Bassam al-Suwaileh, who died of his injuries.

The source told North Press Agency that the attackers fled towards the depth of the desert in the town after the operation.

As a result, the SDF started a campaign to pursue the attackers, according to the source.

The countryside of Deir ez-Zor was an ISIS enclave which was liberated in 2019 by the SDF and the US-led Global Coalition. After that, a civil autonomous administration was formed to run the affairs of the region. This civil administration is affiliated with the AANES.

The AANES was first formed in 2014 in the Kurdish-majority regions of Afrin, Kobani and Jazira in northern Syria following the withdrawal of the government forces. Later, it was expanded to Manbij, Tabqa, Raqqa, Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor after the SDF defeated ISIS militarily.

Recently, the countryside of Deir ez-Zor has witnessed an increase in killing cases carried out against the SDF fighters, tribal leaders, civilians, and employees of the Autonomous Administration though the SDF carries out intensive security operations.

Two people, including a child, were seriously injured on Thursday while accidently being near the SDF checkpoint, which were attacked with automatic weapons by unknown assailants in the town of al-Shuhail east of Deir ez-Zor.

Boko Haram big turbans who escaped Kuje Prison named; prison guards were overpowered by superior Boko Haram weapons

Though the Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashi claimed that 64 Boko Haram members escaped, security sources told SaharaReporters that over 201 members of the group were unaccounted for.

“The prison management and Nigerian government are playing down the numbers of Boko Haram inmates for some reasons.

“Over 200 escaped not 64 as claimed. There were over 150 of them in that facility before, so they brought 46 from Kogi State after the Kanna Jailbreak. They were transferred to Kuje about 5 months back,” a top security source told SaharaReporters.

“Then another set of Ansaru members arrested by the police from Nasarawa State was taken to Kuje, about 17 of them. They were taken to Kuje around November last year.”

    Below are some of the top Boko Haram Leaders that were freed;

    Usman Abubakar Muhammad
Popularly know as Abubakar Sa'id. He was said to be the leader of all the Boko Haram inmates in Kuje prison.

Sa’id is the second in command to Khalid al-Barnawi, Ansaru factional leader who bombed the United Nations Headquarters, Abuja.

    Muhammad Sani Yellow
Muhammad is another notorious commander of the deadly group. He was arrested alongside Abubakar Sa'id in 2012.

    Mustafa Umar
Popularly known as Baa Umaru. He was the one who threw explosives into a plaza occupied by Thisday newspaper and two other newspaper publishers in Kaduna, Kaduna State.

    Isma'i Yusuf
Yusuf was arrested a few years ago. Before his arrest, he was the terror group commander in charge of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

“His left arm was amputated by an explosion at the point of bomb-making before his arrest. He is their top IED manufacturer, very intelligent,” an intelligent officer told SaharaReporters.

    Yakubu Abdullahi
Abdullahi was the leader of those who killed prominent Kaduna Islamic cleric, Sheikh Muhamman Auwal Albani Zaria, his wife, and son.

Abdullahi was the sub-regional commander of the Boko Haram group in Kano/Kaduna/Niger state before his arrest.

Some other escaped Boko Haram inmates are identified as Tafseer Salihu, Musa Abubakar and Bilyaminu Usman. One of the terrorists named Bukar Bukar also escaped but was brought back to prison by his lawyer.

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) has accused the Nigerian Army of killing one of its members, Jibril Usman Sarki, during an attack by Death Eaters on the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja where over 600 inmates were released.

The group disclosed this on Saturday in Abuja in a statement by Dauda Nalado on behalf of the movement.

The group said the inmates after the attack voluntarily approached some soldiers patrolling the town and introduced themselves as inmates and would like to return to the prison but the soldiers opened fire on them, killing Jibril.

The statement noted that Jibril was an inmate in Kuje prison awaiting trial before Justice Suleiman Belgore of FCT High Court for allegedly participating in Free- El- Zakzaky protest that took place on July 22, 2019 at Federal Secretariat, Abuja but was arrested in July, 2019 alongside 62 others.

IMN said despite the murder of Jibril, more than 40 Free-Zakzaky protesters being held at the prison voluntarily returned to the facility.

The group added that the whereabouts of three of their members was still unknown.

Monticello is going woke — and trashing Thomas Jefferson's legacy in the process
[NYPOST] Monticello is going woke — and trashing Thomas Jefferson’s good name in the process.

The Charlottesville, Virginia, home of the Founding Father and America’s third president is one of our best-known national monuments, familiar from its appearance on the nickel since 1938.

But the hilltop mansion designed by Jefferson himself, once preserved as a tribute to the author of the Declaration of Independence, now offers visitors a harangue on the horrors of slavery.

"The whole thing has the feel of propaganda and manipulation," Jeffrey Tucker, founder of the libertarian Brownstone Institute and a recent visitor, told The Post. "People on my tour seemed sad and demoralized."

The new emphasis is the culmination of a 10-year effort to balance the historical record, officials of the Thomas Jefferson Foundation, the nonprofit that owns the estate, have said.

But visitors complain that employees go out of their way to belittle Jefferson and his life.

"The tour guides play ’besmirchment derby,’ never missing a chance to defame this brilliant, complex man," Stephen Owen of Enochville, NC, wrote on Facebook.

Expert attributes Japan's former PM assassination to security failures
[Shafaq] A security expert says the personal security for former Japanese prime minster Abe Shinzo was inadequate, following his fatal shooting.
NO!!! An unbelievable conclusion based on the evidence.
Abe was shot on Friday while delivering a speech on the street in the western prefecture of Nara.

NHK world-Japan quoted former police officer and security expert Ito Koichi making comments after analyzing footage showing the attacker wandering around with a bag and walking straight up to Abe.

Ito said that when observing such suspicious behavior, the person must be kept away even before asking questions and inspecting belongings.

He also pointed out that coppers failed to effectively coordinate with each other to make appropriate responses.

    Terror Networks
A Lesson the West Ignored From 7/7

    Long. The set-up:
Seventeen years ago today, four al-Qaeda jacket wallahs attacked the London transport system and in just under an hour that morning murdered fifty-two people from eighteen countries and maimed seven-hundred, one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in British history. An important thread in the story was the role of Pakistain in fostering the ideological and material environment that created the killers, which did not get the attention it deserved at the time, nor in the years since.

    THE PAKISTAN DIMENSION OF 7/7
At 8:50 on 7 July 2005, Shehzad Tanweer (aged 22) detonated his boom jacket on a tube train, a minute later another suicide bomber, Mohammad Sidique Khan (30), detonated on a second train, and a minute after that another train was blown up by Germaine Lindsay (19). Thirty-nine people were massacred. At 9:47, a fourth suicide-killer, Hasib Hussain (18), went kaboom! on a bus at Tavistock Square in Bloomsbury, slaughtering thirteen people.

The Security Service (MI5) confirmed that the killers had not been on their radar before the attacks, but once they were identified it became clear that Khan had been on the periphery of a prior investigation, Operation CREVICE, which in March 2004 had rolled up an al-Qaeda network in and around London that was planning to carry out a terrorist atrocity using a fertiliser bomb. Khan was found to have been in telephone contact with one of the conspirators, Omar Khyam, and both Khan and Tanweer had been briefly surveilled by the security services because of their contacts. After running various checks on Khan and Tanweer, it was determined that neither merited further resources: they seemed to be involved in minor fraud as part of financing the network, rather than having any involvement—and potentially not having any knowledge—of the terrorist planning that CREVICE was interested in.

Jonathan Evans, the head of MI5’s G-Branch dealing with international terrorism during this period and later the MI5 chief, noted later that the plot thwarted by CREVICE, led by Mohammed Qayum Khan, had been directed by al-Qaeda based in Pakistain’s tribal areas and involved "British citizens or British residents of Pak heritage, something which became something of a theme for this period". The 7/7 attack was in-keeping with this: all of its operatives (except Lindsay) were of Pak extraction, it originated in "plans from Pakistain", and indeed the logistics of the plot itself "did not fundamentally differ from all the other plans that failed to come to fruition" during the mid-2000s.

What only became clear after 7/7 was that in February 2004, Khyam had spoken in person to Sidique Khan in a car bugged by MI5, and from snippets of that conversation—and the testimony of a jihadist prisoner—British intelligence was able to work out, in retrospect, once they knew what they were looking for, that Khan and Tanweer had been to al-Qaeda training camps in Pakistain. It was a month after 7/7 when Pakistain handed over the photographs of Khan as he arrived there on 25 July 2003.

Pakistain’s reluctance to proactively assist—and its efforts to appear helpful in the aftermath—are hardly surprising. After tiring of the Mujahideen groups in the early 1990s, Pakistain’s Inter-Services Intelligence
...the Pak military intelligence agency that controls the military -- heads of ISI typically get promoted into the Chief of Army Staff position. It serves as a general command center for favored turban groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad, tries to influence the politix of neighboring countries, and carries out a (usually) low-level war against India in Kashmir...
(ISI) agency had turned to the Taliban
    ...mindless ferocity in a turban...
as its instrument to conquer Afghanistan, which was largely completed by 1996, and it was under the ISI’s close watch that the Taliban became entirely intermingled with al-Qaeda and its derivatives like "the Haqqani Network", as it did with the "Kashmiri" groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
(LeT). It is analytically quite misleading to treat as autonomous "groups" what is in reality a fluid single network that shares personnel, geography, resources (everything from training camps to ammunition), and ultimately a unified command structure running through the ISI headquarters at Abpara.

Khan’s story testifies to this. Khan had, as it turned out, previously travelled to Pakistain and trained in a jihadist camp in Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
in July 2001, before being taken over the border to a Taliban camp near the frontlines with the final pocket of Afghan resistance, the Northern Alliance. al-Qaeda was woven into the fabric of this ISI-run jihadist infrastructure, designed significantly for an unending ideological war with India, that ran through—and now runs through again—Kashmir and Afghanistan, which simply shifts personnel from front to front as Pakistain desires. As well as the second trip to Pakistain by Khan in 2003, it transpired there had been a third trip, between November 2004 and February 2005, on which Tanweer had accompanied him. Whether Khan and Tanweer went into Afghanistan during this trip is unclear; they certainly made contact with al-Qaeda.

The ISI’s fingerprints had also been visible in the earlier plot that Operation CREVICE has dismantled. In court, Khyam said the ISI was threatening his family in Pakistain because "they are worried I might reveal more about them" and therefore he was "not going to discuss anything related to the ISI any more". It was pointed out to Khyam by the judge that "inferences" would be drawn from this; he understood that, but inferences had less repercussions for him than giving evidence about the role the ISI had played in facilitating a terrorist plot on British soil.

Britannia has a special place in this long-standing, transnational ISI jihadist network:

    Masood Azhar
...One of the major players in Pak terrorism. In early 1994, India incarcerated him for his activities. In 1995, foreign tourists were kidnapped in Jammu and Kashmir. The kidnappers included his release among their demands. One of the hostages managed to escape but the rest were eventually killed. In 1999, he was freed by the Indian government in exchange for passengers on hijacked Indian Airlines Flight 814 that had been diverted to Kandahar. The hijackers were led by Masood Azhar's brother, Ibrahim Athar. Once he was handed over to the hijackers, they fled to Pak territory despite the fact that Islamabad had earlier stated that any of the hijackers would be jugged at the border. The Pak government had also previously indicated that Azhar would be allowed to return home since he did not face any charges there. Shortly after his release, he made a public address to an estimated 10,000 people in Karachi, firing up the rubes against America and India...
, an ISI operative and United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
-listed terrorist, toured Britannia in 1993, fundraising and recruiting for the Kashmir jihad, while laying down local networks to continue the job. Some of these networks later defected to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
. Azhar had created a template for "Londonistan" in the 1990s, where jihadists set up shop in London to provide resources to insurgencies in the Moslem world. There was a de facto agreement with the British state that so long as this activity was directed abroad, the jihadists would not be interfered with.

What happened on 7/7 was a demonstration that this jihadist network ran two ways: what had been exported could come home. The realisation was slow in coming. In September 2005, al-Qaeda released a video to al-Jazeera of Khan’s last testament declaring his "war" on the West and praising "today’s heroes": the late Osama bin Laden
...... who used to be alive but now he's not......
    , al-Qaeda’s then-deputy (now emir) Ayman al-Zawahiri
...Formerly second in command of al-Qaeda, now the head cheese, occasionally described as the real brains of the outfit. Formerly the Mister Big of Egyptian Islamic Jihad. Bumped off Abdullah Azzam with a car boom in the course of one of their little disputes. Is thought to have composed bin Laden's fatwa entitled World Islamic Front Against Jews and Crusaders. Currently residing in the North Wazoo area assuming he's not dead like Mullah Omar. He lost major face when he ordered the nascent Islamic State to cease and desist and merge with the orthodox al-Qaeda spring, al-Nusra...
, and the founder of the Islamic State movement, which was at that time part of al-Qaeda, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the Jordanian whose real name was Ahmad al-Khalayleh.
    And the dismount:
There was certainly some ignorance among Western officials about Pakistan’s game, but a lack of knowledge was never the real problem. The issue was fear, more precisely blackmail, that any challenge to Pakistan’s lawless conduct—its fundamental strategic commitment to the use of terrorism as a state policy under the protective canopy of pirated nuclear weapons—would make things even worse. As one scholar put it: “Pakistan has essentially developed its bargaining power by threatening its own demise.” If the West cut off the vast aid subsidies, let alone adopted a coercive approach to try to change Pakistan’s policies, Islamabad held out the prospect of instability that would lead to terrorists acquiring its nuclear weapons, so the West kept paying Pakistan to help solve a problem it created and sustained—and had every incentive to sustain, since without the problem there would be no more cheques.

Which returns us to the issue of Pakistani blackmail. Now that NATO is out of Afghanistan, with Western intelligence effectively blind, if and when a British citizen goes rogue, in or from Pakistan, the ISI will be there to offer a helping hand in finding them—for a price. And if Britain accepted the apparent necessity of cooperation with the ISI at a time when the ISI was killing British troops, it is unlikely this will change now. The mind-bending logic of relying on the organisation that nurtures the terrorist groups that threaten Britain will win out by bureaucratic exigency and inertia; what that ensnares Britain into giving away—whether in money or political concessions—will only become clear over time.

Lapid approves shuttering Eritrean embassy after ambassador blocked — report
In a time of rapid change, keep up or fall behind.
[IsraelTimes] Prime Minister Yair Lapid, who is still serving as Foreign Minister, has recently approved closing Israel’s embassy in Eritrea
...is run by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), with about the amounts of democracy and justice you'd expect from a party with that name. National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age...
, the Ynet news site reports.

Lapid approved the move after Eritrea has been stalling the arrival of the ambassador for two years, Ynet says. The embassy has remained empty.

Instead, Israel will open an embassy in Mozambique, the report says.

Mayor gives DA Bragg a pass for bodega worker murder charge
[NYPOST] Mayor Eric Adams says his "heart goes out" to Jose Alba, the bodega employee unjustly charged with murder for defending himself from a violent mostly peaceful attack. Yet he won’t condemn Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg for bringing the charges against Alba and having him tossed in the slammer
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
    on $500,000 bail.

    What’s the mayor afraid of?

Adams says "we cannot dictate or mandate how [a DA] determines how he’s going to prosecute crimes," and he won’t "second-guess" Bragg "for his actions."

Hmm. The mayor had no problems "second-guessing" Staten Island DA Mike McMahon’s decision to hit a grocery-store worker with a 24-hour jail stay for seeming to strike former Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Adams called that lockup "unfair" — and explicitly urged the DA to consider prosecuting Giuliani for filing a false police report.

Yes, the mayor’s heart is in the right place on crime. The police initiatives he’s put in place have started to drive down homicides and shootings somewhat — though other crimes continue to tick up. And he rightly blasts his fellow Dems’ disastrous criminal-justice "reforms."

#1  Yesterday bail was reduced to $50k and Alba's friends raised the $5k needed for the bail bond.

Also, Alba is 62 years old, not 51 as stated in many media reports. a

As far as I can tell, Austin Simon and his girl friend (who attacked Alba) have still not been charged (Bragg says he is investigating this).

#1  A big unknown is the opinion of the Russiaphone population in the east of the 1991 borders of the Ukraine.

Russia and/or it's designees have been in charge of much of this since 2014 and more since late March 2022. So the population has gotten a taste of how that group governs. No Pew study is possible in war conditions so we don't know how many people in these areas would rather be governed by Ukraine.

#2  A palpable point, Lord Garth. And just as the Russiaphones have had a chance to observe, so have the rest of the Ukrainians — who can assume less gentle treatment to encourage them to give up their ugly peasant dialect.

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: July 9th, 2022
Direct Translation via Google Translate Edited.
[Korrespondent] 23:51 Over the past three weeks, the United States has allocated 2.2 billion dollars to help Ukraine. In total, this is about $ 8 billion since the beginning of the Biden administration, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said, citing a statement by the US Department of Defense.

23:37 Moscow is holding the world's population hostage by blocking the export of Ukrainian grain, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna said: "The G20 cannot take its eyes off the war in Ukraine, because it directly affects the global economy. War affects us all and can lead to a global recession if we don't take action."

23:24 According to Konstantinovka, Donetsk region, the Russians inflicted at least five strikes on residential areas today - it is already known about one dead and 18 wounded, said the head of the OVA Pavel Kirilenko. Thus, today three people were killed and 25 were injured under shelling in the Donetsk region.

23:11 The speaker of the Odesa OVA Serhiy Bratchuk said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed three enemy ammunition depots today: in Chernobaevka in the Kherson region, in Khartsyzsk in the Donetsk region and in Kadiivka in the Luhansk region.

23:04 In an evening video message, Zelensky thanked the United States for the decision to provide Ukraine with a new $400 million defense aid package: "Additional HIMARS systems and other precision weapons allow us to take precisely anti-terrorist steps, allowing us to reduce Russian missile attacks on our living people."

22:12 In the Sumy region, the Russians today fired from multiple launch rocket systems, there are numerous mortar parishes, five people were injured, said the head of the OVA Dmitry Zhivitsky.

20:56 The liberation of Zmeiny opened the mouth of Bystry for ships with agricultural products, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine reported: "Given the liberation of the island of Zmeiny from Russian troops and the accumulation of a large number of ships in anticipation of passing through the Sulina Canal, it is possible to use the channel of the mouth of Bystry of the Danube-Chernoye River sea for the entry / exit of ships carrying agricultural products.

20:40 In the Donetsk region, three people were killed and eight wounded as a result of shelling today. The occupiers shelled residential areas, civilian infrastructure, a dacha cooperative, damaged a dairy plant and a furniture factory, and fields caught fire, Pavel Kirilenko, head of the UVA, said.

20:18 The head of the military administration of Krivoy Rog, Alexander Vilkul, announced a missile attack on the city in the Radushny area.

19:59 Reznikov said during an online Forbes conference that the Iron Dome system will be ineffective in Ukraine, and instead it is necessary to develop its own air defense / missile defense system: "We all know the example of Israel, which protects the sky pretty well. We all know the name Zhelezny the dome, but even it does not protect 100%. Not only that, I was in Israel, I talked with their manufacturers, state-owned enterprises. The iron dome works against slow, low-altitude, easy-to-kill missiles made, in fact, in garages. The Iron Dome does not protect cruise and ballistic missiles. There is another air defense system that is being developed in Israel itself, and there is in the Czech Republic and in the United States. Therefore, we need to develop our own air defense / missile defense system or receive, including from our partners " .

The minister added that Ukraine already has sky protection: "It is not perfect, but believe me, we shoot down a fairly large number of missiles that fly. Enemy planes in our sky no longer fly, because they are afraid and know that we are shooting them down" .

19:41 In the Zaporozhye region, residents of the Melitopol, Vasilyevsky, Pologovsky and Primorsky districts were left without gas because of the shelling. It is now impossible to repair the damaged main gas pipeline due to constant shelling, said Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov.

19:32 The mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, said that it is becoming more and more dangerous to stay in the city, as the invaders are going to use civilians as human shields. According to him, there is no centralized evacuation from the city now, since the Russians do not agree on "green corridors", but the townspeople can leave Melitopol in their own cars or with the help of volunteers.

19:20 Zelensky dismissed the head of the Kherson Regional State Administration Gennady Laguta, and by another decree appointed interim acting. Dmitry Butriy, who since January 2019 served as the first deputy head of the Kherson Regional State Administration.

18:59 The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled seven attempts to storm the Russians - from the north of Kharkiv region to Avdiivka and Maryinka, the General Staff said in an evening summary .

18:45 Zelensky, in addition to Andriy Melnyk, dismissed four more diplomats: Ambassador to Hungary Lyubov Nepop, Ambassador to Norway Vyacheslav Yatsyuk, Ambassador to the Czech Republic Yevgeny Perebiynis, and Ambassador to India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Maldives Igor Polekha.

18:37 Ammunition for the German Gepard self-propelled artillery mounts will be produced in Norway. This solves the main problem with this technique, which prevented its effective transfer to Ukraine, writes Spiegel.

18:03 Andriy Melnyk was fired from the post of Ukraine's ambassador to Germany - the corresponding presidential decree was published on his website. Earlier, the German Bild reported, citing its sources, that Melnik would soon leave the post of ambassador and would probably be appointed deputy foreign minister.

17:36 Dissatisfaction with Russia's actions is brewing in the "DPR": every day, from 20 to 40 minibuses take out those who want to leave Donetsk and other settlements not controlled by Ukraine, the Center for Strategic Communications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports. Almost half of the evacuees leave through Russia to Lithuania, Finland, Germany and other countries using Ukrainian passports - as refugees. And some even safely settle in Ukraine.

16:58 Ukraine offers NATO to create a military hub on its eastern borders, for example - in Poland, said First Deputy Foreign Minister Emine Dzhaparova. According to her, the existence of such a hub will contribute to the country's Euro-Atlantic progress, and will also play a role in ensuring border security: "We can take the already successfully functioning similar project of the NATO-South hub as a model."

16:44 The head of the Kherson Regional Council, Yuri Sobolevsky, on the air of the telethon, appealed to the inhabitants of the region with an appeal to urgently leave the occupied territory, and if this is not possible, take care of shelter, food and water. He explained this need by the explosions of ammunition depots after targeted strikes by Ukrainian troops: "It all started this morning at about 8 o'clock. The destruction of the military infrastructure of the orcs was confirmed, probably there was a large ammunition depot."

According to Sobolevsky, this will continue further: "Our guys will work as carefully as possible, just surgically, in order to save every life, but war is war."

15:05 In Mariupol, invaders and collaborators are stealing the surviving cars of citizens, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported. Cars are taken both from open areas or parking lots, and from closed garage cooperatives, both day and night, during the curfew. Often robbers use tow trucks.

Officially, an application for theft can be submitted to the military commandant's office of Mariupol, but on an unofficial level, its representatives say that you need to look for cars yourself. Often, the owners of stolen cars find them with the militants of the so-called "DPR police". In this case, the stolen cars are declared "the property of the DPR" and any further actions are not only pointless, but also dangerous.

15:01 The Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant-General Sergei Naev, visited the positions of the Ukrainian military in the north, and also checked the preparations for a possible offensive from Belarus, the press service of the command reports. Naev assured that the situation is now fully controlled. In particular, the mining of dangerous areas and the arrangement of engineering barriers are underway.

14:57 In Kiev, military exercises have begun with civilians in order to increase the level of defense of the city, according to the Kyiv City State Administration. First of all, employees of communal enterprises and district state administrations of the capital undergo training. They are provided with key knowledge, in particular, on the provision of emergency medical care. In the future, the city will attract everyone to such training, such classes will be organized in every district of the capital.

14:50 Columns of Russian vehicles with V signs and USSR flags have been spotted in Belarus, reports Belaruski Gayun. So, from the side of Minsk in the direction of Bobruisk, a convoy of about ten KamAZ trucks of the RF Armed Forces is moving. The column has communication vehicles and awnings, probably with infantry. Russians arrived from the 43rd region (Kirov region) of the Southern Military District of the Russian Federation. In recent days, the number of movements of Russian troops across the territory of Belarus has increased significantly.

According to Shmyhal, the draft of the relevant agreement was approved today at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers. The grant will be attracted on a gratuitous, irrevocable basis. The funds will be used to cover the costs of the state budget to pay for medical services under the program of medical guarantees.

13:38 Estonian President Alar Karis believes that Russia will not dare to attack his country in the next 5-10 years: "We have been hearing this rhetoric of threats from the Russian Federation for a long time, it existed even before the start of the Russian war in Ukraine. Of course, we must be attentive and careful about what Russia says, but we are already used to hearing all this and are ready for such offensive behavior on their part, to be honest. However, now we do not see any signs of aggression towards Estonia, moreover, the Russians for this there are no resources, but such aggression is quite possible in the next 5-10 years."

13:35 The "head" of the occupied part of the Zaporozhye region, Yevgeny Balitsky, said that his "administration" turned to the Russian authorities with a request to help in "an emergency situation with gas supply, since the Kiev regime turned off the gas supply to the region."

13:32 British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace met with the Ukrainian military who arrived for training: "Using the world-class experience of the British army, we will help Ukraine rebuild its strength and strengthen resistance as they defend the sovereignty of their country and their right to choose their own future."

13:30 The head of the Nikolaev region Vitaly Kim specified that the Russians today fired six missiles across Nikolaev from the S-300 complex, there were no casualties.

12:55 Russia shows no signs of readiness for negotiations, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said on the sidelines of the G20 meeting. He noted that Russian aggression is directed not only against Ukraine, but also against the "basic principles of the world order," writes The Guardian.

12:33 For the export of grain, Ukraine is restoring and expanding ports on the Danube River, Alla Stoyanova, director of the Department of Agrarian Policy of the Odessa region, told The Guardian. According to her, before the war, the Danube ports were rarely used, some of them were in complete decline. Now Ukraine is reviving old river harbors to speed up grain exports.

In particular, work is underway to expand the port of Reni, Stoyanova said: “Recently, it has not been used at all ... More than 160 ships are waiting in the Black Sea to enter the Sulina Canal, but they cannot, because the throughput of this channel is only 5-6 ships in a day".

11:58 The head of the Senate of the French Republic, Gerard Larcher, spoke today in the Rada, MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak said. In particular, he said that Ukraine, thanks to its achievements, rightly received the status of a candidate for EU membership, and now "the European soul and ideals are being embodied by the Ukrainian people."

"We will be with you at all levels, including the military. Your defeat would be our collective defeat. The front will hold if the rear holds. All 27 EU countries are the rear," Larcher said.

11:35 Today, at about 10:00, the Russians launched a missile attack on a residential area of Kharkov. Seven people were injured from the blast, including a child. Rescue services are working at the scene, said Oleg Sinegubov, head of the OVA.

10:54 This morning, the Armed Forces of Ukraine dealt another blow to the accumulation of Russian equipment in Chernobaevka near the airport, said the speaker of the Odesa OVA Serhiy Bratchuk.

10:46 A 20-year-old girl died in the hospital, who came under fire in Krivoy Rog today, said the head of the Dnipropetrovsk OVA Valentin Reznichenko. Thus, the number of victims increased to two, three more people were injured.

10:17 The General Staff announced the approximate losses of the enemy on the morning of July 9. The enemy suffered the greatest losses in the Kramatorsk direction.

    • personnel - about 37,200 (+300) people liquidated,

    • tanks - 1638 (+1),

    • armored combat vehicles - 3815 (+4),

    • artillery systems - 832 (+4),

    • MLRS - 247 (+0),

    • air defense systems - 108 (+1),

    • aircraft - 217 (+0),

    • helicopters - 187 (+0),

    • UAV operational-tactical level - 674 (+5),

    • cruise missiles - 155 (+0),

    • ships/boats - 15 (+0),

    • automotive equipment and tankers - 2687 (+2),

    • special equipment - 66 (+0).

09:38 Mykolaiv came under shelling early in the morning, detailed information is being specified, the OVA reported. In the Bereznegovatsky community, constant shelling of villages along the line of demarcation continues, and yesterday there were shelling of the village of Novonikolaevka in the Pervomaisky community. In addition, after the shelling, a forest fire broke out on the Kinburn Spit and two fires of coniferous flooring in the forest area near the village. Vasilievka Ochakiv community.

09:24 British intelligence reports that the Russian Federation is deploying reserve forces from all over the country and gathering them near the border of Ukraine for future offensive operations. Most of the new infantry units can be deployed with MT-LB armored vehicles, which the Russian Federation previously considered unsuitable for this. The MT-LB was developed in the 1950s as an artillery towing tractor, has limited armor and is only equipped with a machine gun. At the same time, at the beginning of the invasion, most of the Russian first-echelon assault units were equipped with more modern BMP-2s.

The summary recalls Putin's words that Russia "didn't even start" operations in Ukraine and points out that Russian reinforcements are using outdated or inappropriate equipment.

08:47 In the controlled territory of the Donetsk region, five civilians were killed during the day from Russian shelling: four in Seversk and one in Semigorye. Eight more people were injured, Pavel Kirilenko, head of the OVA, said.

08:45 At least 10 thousand Mariupol residents are in the filtration prisons of the occupiers, where they got from the filtration camps, Piotr Andryushchenko, adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, said.

08:37 The enemy is trying to move from the settlements of the Lugansk region to the first villages of Donbass, said the head of the Luhansk OVA Serhiy Gaidai. According to him, the occupying forces made little progress during July 8 and continue to advance west of Lysichansk. At the same time, there is no operational pause announced by the enemy, Gaidai claims: he is attacking and shelling Ukrainian lands with the same intensity. That night, the Russians launched eight artillery attacks, three mortar attacks, and nine rocket attacks.

The occupiers do not give up their attempts to break deep into the Donetsk region along the administrative border, they attack from several directions, and "where it is inconvenient for them to go forward, they create a real hell, shelling the territories on the horizon." Therefore, the danger comes from everywhere - from Kreminnaya to Popasnaya, Gaidai emphasized.

08:29 With the worsening of the weather and the beginning of a storm in the Black Sea, the enemy ship grouping has been almost halved: two surface and one underwater launch vehicles and three large landing ships with a total salvo of 20 Caliber cruise missiles remained on guard, OK Pivden reported.

08:24 Pentagon spokesman voiced the main problem with the current supply of weapons to Ukraine: “Ukrainians have a lot of equipment, but the problem is that they use it at an intense combat pace. At the same time, more time is needed for training, resources for support, repairs, and logistics ".

At the same time, he stressed that the US Department of Defense is going to supply Ukraine with weapons "for the coming months and years," and the Russians hope in vain that they can hold out longer than the Ukrainians: "The main thing is that the Russians know that the Ukrainians will be able to continue the fight. If the Russians think, If they can last longer than the Ukrainians, then they need to rethink. We are already thinking about what the Ukrainians will need in the coming months and years."

08:17 The Pentagon denied the information about the destruction of two HIMARS installations in Ukraine, as recently reported by the Russian Defense Ministry. "Ukrainians still use them in combat. I know that there were some Russian reports that they destroyed the Ukrainian HIMARS system. This is not true. Ukrainians have these systems and use them," the agency representative said.

08:00 The Russian army tried to take control of the Uglegorsk thermal power plant and improve the tactical situation in the Dolomitnoye area, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine pushed the invaders back to their previous positions, the General Staff said in a morning report .

07:42 The American Institute for the Study of War suggests that the Russians have taken an operational pause, despite ongoing limited attempts to advance in the Donbass. Analysts believe that "when the Russian military command decides that it is sufficiently prepared to resume a larger offensive operation, it is likely to continue a large-scale advance with more troops and more tenacity than now. The exit from the operational pause may be gradual and not immediately noticeable ".

07:21 Russians shelled Krivoy Rog in the morning, there are casualties. According to the head of the Dnipropetrovsk OVA, Valentin Reznichenko, a woman was killed as a result of shelling of the Inguletsky district of the city, and two more people received shrapnel wounds. According to him, the Russians deliberately hit residential areas from Gradov. A school and several houses were also damaged, and a car burned down.

06:47 In the fifth month of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia is far behind its schedule for the attack on the Donbass. On the contrary, Ukrainian forces are performing well in combat, a senior Pentagon official said at a briefing. “The Russians are making very incremental, limited, and costly progress only in certain small areas of Donbas. They are way behind their timelines. They are way behind their goals,” the Pentagon website said in a statement.

The Pentagon also noted that Ukraine has launched effective localized counter-offensives: “We are increasingly seeing the ability of the Ukrainians to use HIMARS systems to significantly interfere with the ability of the Russians to advance even where they have been so difficult and slow to advance. Therefore, we do not see Russia winning at all this is a fight."

06:40 The Russian Embassy in the United States commented on the news about the new package of American aid: "Behind this decision is Washington's unbridled desire to drag out the conflict at any cost ... The thesis of high-ranking US officials that military products are used by Ukrainians for defensive purposes is untenable." 01:03 Bakhmut and Soledar are the most likely directions for the Russian troops to advance, Pavel Kirilenko, head of the Donetsk Regional Military District, said on the air of the telethon. According to him, Bakhmut is the closest to the front line - about 8 km to him. At the same time, the entire front line in the Donetsk region is being shelled, Kirilenko added.

00:52 Biden signed a decree on the allocation of another tranche of defense assistance to Ukraine for $400 million. It will include four HIMARS MLRS and their ammunition; 1000 high-precision 155-mm artillery shells; tactical vehicles; explosive ammunition; spare parts.
