[PJMedia] The U.S. Forest Service began receiving calls about fires in secluded sections of woods in southwest Oregon, including regions accessible only by river or roads owned by the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management.
Witnesses reported seeing a lone man walking along a gravel road starting fires.
Ground and helicopter teams dealt with the fires, and three local residents located a suspect, 30-year-old Trennon Smith of Veneta, Ore.
Smith became combative with the three people, who summarily tied him to a tree to wait for the police. Smith was treated for an injury he allegedly sustained while falling down and then taken to jail. He is being charged with two counts of first-degree arson and one count of reckless burning. He is being held on a $100,000 bond.
A few Twitter peeps began asking if Smith is a member of the non-binary, gender-free street mob, Antifa.
A search of the Facebook profile believed to belong to Smith revealed nothing that would lead one to believe Smith is involved in Antifa.
The quick actions of emergency crews and the local residents stopped what could have been a disaster, according to Sheriff John Ward.
“The cooperation and partnership between all agencies when something like this occurs is remarkable. The quick actions on getting the fires out most certainly averted a catastrophe and saved lives,” Ward announced.
“If the fires had not been contained and if they got out of control, they could have blocked all the residents and visitors from having an escape route,” Ward told AP News.

After another hearing on Oct. 13, 2021, Sullivan reversed Frensely’s order and ruled that McAbee should not be released pending trial. Sullivan said he would issue a written ruling, which was released more than two months later on Dec. 21, 2021.
A break in McAbee’s case came when video investigator Gary McBride of Decatur, Texas, studied the bodycam footage shown in court, except with the audio track turned on. It painted a vastly different picture of what took place, McBride told The Epoch Times.
"The prosecutors did not play the audio of AW [Andrew Wyatt] and McAbee talking during this point," McBride said in a video he made about the evidence. "McAbee is trying to save AW. Prosecutors didn’t play that in court."
McBride said his analysis showed McAbee did not pull the officer down the stairs, but was swept backward and lost his balance, due to two protesters pulling on the officer’s legs. McAbee was standing over Wyatt at the time. As a result, McAbee fell on top of Wyatt and was over him for about 25 seconds.
While McAbee was on top of Wyatt, bystanders called him a traitor, ostensibly for helping the officer. When someone in the crowd tried to grab at Wyatt, McAbee shouted, "No!" and "Quit!"
"At that point, my husband just saw an officer down and an officer needing help, because the first thing he says, when he pops in around the tunnel before he gets around the rail is, ’Hey, you guys have a man down,’" Sarah McAbee said. "They literally did nothing to help that guy. So he’s the one who jumped into action."
McBride and Sarah McAbee said the audio track should have been disclosed to the defense as exculpatory evidence. Hey! I seen dis movie!
If you listen to the audio, he says, ’Hey, I’m one of you. Let me know when you’re ready to get up. I’m going to help you up.’ And they get up together," Sarah McAbee said. "That’s not him assaulting anybody. It’s the same videos, they just wouldn’t play the audio in court, because the audio is so detrimental to their case."

Fracking is nothing new. I once worked for a drilling supply company than sold a downhole rig that had stacked shaped charges to break up the rock formation. There's not a pool of oil down there, it's oil saturated rock. Hydraulic fracking is relatively recent.

The injection process discussed in the video used to be called 'water flooding.' I new of a plugged well on a lease years ago that came back to life (improperly plugged), from water flooding. Oil began running up the casing and out on the ground. The land owner was very concerned, as cows will stand and drink crude oil until they topple over dead. Site eventually became productive again, thanks to an enterprising driller and a willing bank loan.

tw: The statue of Robert E Lee was mounted on a tall column in, not surprisingly, Lee Circle near downtown New Orleans. It was taken down several years ago, and not replaced -- there is just a column with an empty plinth. The article implies that the modern statuary sits on top of the column -- not so. It is off to the side and, as I understand it, temporary. More to the point, the article accuses New Orleanians of being religious primitives unaware of the book of Genesis. While New Orleans certainly has its share of non-believers and its share of downright evil people, on the whole New Orleans is one of the most thoroughly Judeo-Christian cities in the country, as exemplified by the great Touro Synagogue on St. Charles Avenue, and of course St. Louis Cathedral, which is part of the picture postcard view of New Orleans.

[NYP] One of Hunter Biden’s former business partners referred to Joe Biden as "the Big Guy" in a panicked message the same day The Post broke news of the infamous laptop from hell left behind by the president’s son, The Post has learned.
James Gilliar, a former British Special Forces officer with ties to UK intelligence services, discussed The Post’s exclusive report with an unnamed person on Oct. 14, 2020, according to the message provided by a whistleblower to GOP congressional investigators probing the laptop.
In the message, Gilliar, 58, reassured the person that the revelations about Biden’s apparent involvement in his son’s foreign deals would not be damaging — regardless of the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.
Gilliar was asked if "Hunter and/or Joe or Joe’s campaign [would] try to make it ’Oh, we were never involved’ ... and try to basically make us collateral damage?"
"I don’t see how that would work for them..." Gilliar responded in the 6.07 p.m. message reviewed by The Post.
"I think in the scenario that he wins they would just leave sleeping dogs lie," Gilliar added.
Etymology - The saying “let sleeping dogs lie” was a favourite of Sir Robert Walpole, the first Prime Minister of Great Britain.

Gillier warned Bobulinsky in a WhatsApp message on May 20, 2017 about the need for discretion: “Not to mention who gets involved, it’s only when you’re face-to-face, I know you know.” But they’re crazy.”
Based in the Czech Republic, Gillier was dubbed “MI6” by Bobulinsky, after the British Foreign Intelligence Service, due to Gillier’s secretive manner. He also told Hunter that he had worked with British intelligence and introduced a potential participant in the Middle East to Oman as the “former MI Six Head of Region”. Gillier wanted to hire former British “diplomat” David Holtum to help with the Oman energy project he was working on for CEFC.
The MI6 angle is intriguing because another British spy, Christopher Steele, was at the center of a Russia collusion plan devised by Hillary Clinton’s campaign to portray Donald Trump as a Russian agent. Steele was the former head of MI6’s Russia desk.
In a biography on Hunter’s laptop, Gillier describes himself as “expert training in civil/military security operations and analysis, counter-terrorism, close security and firearms, armed and unarmed warfare” with expertise in security and intelligence-based analysis and systems. Gives background.”
His first appearance on the laptop is a CC’d email to Hunter on 23 February 2016, discussing his upcoming trip to Beijing to meet the CEFC board and acquire the US Westinghouse Electric Corporation.

The 63-month-long sentence levied against Ponder matches the prison term imposed in December against a Florida man, Robert Scott Palmer, convicted for throwing a wooden plank and a fire extinguisher at police during the Jan 6 riot.
Palmer’s sentence was then the longest yet stemming from the attack on the Capitol.
More than 850 people have been charged with taking part in the riot, the most violent mostly peaceful assault on the halls of Congress since the British invasion of Washington during the War of 1812. More than 325 guilty pleas have been entered to date in connection with the Jan. 6 upheaval.

[AnNahar] Iran's intelligence ministry said Wednesday that agents linked to Israel's Mossad who were arrested last week were also members of an outlawed Kurdish rebel group who planned to target a "sensitive defense center."
The conclusion that they were Mossad sounds like a stretch.
The ministry had announced on Saturday that it arrested "members of a terrorist organization who work for the Zionist spy agency Mossad and were sent to (Iran) to carry out (a) terrorist operation."
It did not say how many suspects were arrested, nor did it identify the targets of the purported plots against "sensitive sites", but alleged that they entered from neighboring Iraq's autonomous Kurdistan region.
On Wednesday, the intelligence ministry said in a new statement that "the elements of the operating team are members of the Komalah terrorist and mercenary group."
Komalah is a Marxist group which seeks autonomy for Kurdish-populated regions of northern Iran ...Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979... and has been outlawed since the Islamic revolution of 1979.
The group has periodically clashed with security forces in northwest Iran, which has a sizeable Kurdish population.
Iranian intelligence forces in April said they arrested a number of Komalah members in the northwestern province of Kurdistan who were seeking to "cause security problems."
The ministry on Wednesday published pictures of equipment and weapons allegedly confiscated from those detained.
They showed square-shaped pieces of furniture with 'bombs' hidden inside, pistols with silencers and bullets, SD cards hidden in the cap of perfume bottles, oxygen tanks, in addition to laptops, mobile phones and cash.
The arrested individuals were aiming to "blow up a sensitive defence industry centre in the country," the statement published on Wednesday said, without identifying the target.

The first 48 K9 howitzers, made by Hanwha Defense, are also expected to arrive this year, with delivery of a second batch of 600 due to start in 2024. From 2025 these will be produced in Poland, the ministry said.
The ministry said these armored vehicles would, in part, replace the Soviet-era tanks that Poland has donated to Ukraine to use in its fight against Russia.

The only thing Russians have proven is the fact that you CANNOT army without putting Soldiers in it.
An armoured vehicle needs 3-5 crew (to actually fight) as well as the support of a few 5 men dismount blobs to infantry when needed. For a very long time, very many Russian BCTs only had enough warm bodies to put 2 or in some worse cases "1" warm body to run the vehicles in the middle of their convoys (to inflate their apparent numbers)
They also don't have ANY logistical capacity. They have the gear but they simply couldn't push that gear further than 20 kilometers / 12 miles from their trackheads which resulted in unbelievably erratic and unreliable arty.
The Ukraine is an abject lesson in the results of graft and paper soldiers (Calling Byzantium on line 1, Calling 3 Kingdoms on line 2, Calling Babylonians on line 3...), anything else needs a very in depth look to properly analyze.
Anyway, back to K2;

Unlikely the ROKs will field directed energy weapons. Much more likely for them to use blinding handheld lasers. Similar to those demonstrated by China back in 2015 (BBQ-095, WJG-2002, PY132A and PY131A). The NORKs aren't signatories to the agreements against using blinding lasers so presumably that could be a loophole for the ROKs. No defense I'm aware of against frequency hopping blinding lasers. The real impetus for passage was the pandemic when America’s chip shortage contributed to the supply chain problems suffered by many industries.
In the end, it was made possible only by an unlikely collision of factors: a pandemic that laid bare the costs of a global semiconductor shortage, heavy lobbying from the chip industry, Mr. Young’s persistence in urging his colleagues to break with party orthodoxy and support the bill, and Mr. Schumer’s ascension to the top job in the Senate.
Many senators, including Republicans, saw the legislation as a critical step to strengthen America’s semiconductor manufacturing abilities at a time when the nation has become perilously reliant on foreign countries — especially an increasingly vulnerable Taiwan — for advanced chips.

Currently the US makes 80% of the TOTAL VALUE of the chip market. Meaning if you need server/desktop CPUs/GPUs or other high end chips, it is designed and made in the US or the design is sent to Taiwan to make. We make the good shit.
Middle ground chips like for automobiles or other value added goods are typically made in Korea, Indonesia, Japan, etc.
Cheap chips like the Internet of Things talking toaster are made in China.
It will be interesting to see what the US pushes our chip manufacturers to make here. If they want the mid-range chips brought back, we can expect they think Asia is going to hell in a handbasket. The cheap crap chips China puts out are just not profitable and will have to be outsourced to a nation like Columbia or such that has cheap, but educated labor.

In this week's set of disappointing quarterly reports from tech companies, Texas Instruments was the outlier, beating on all components of its report. Meanwhile, all the big chip makers are forecasting slower growth ahead. You hear basically no more talk of a "chip shortage" now, only a slowdown in demand.

Did they close out ALL of their positions in that company at a net loss? Or did they swap out a shorter timed options position and only report the loss, not the new or existing, longer positions which may gain net profit if the company gets a nice slice of the pie? [FOX5] DALLAS, Texas - A woman claims that she and a young girl who went to a Taco Bell in Dallas, Texas, were left feeling like they were "burning from the inside out" after a store manager allegedly covered them in boiling water. I'm not sure boiling them alive is the approved punishment for starting a fight in a Taco Bell.
A lawsuit filed July 13 in Dallas County Circuit Court claims that Brittany Davis and the daughter of Kira Davis identified only as "C.T." complained repeatedly that their order had not been prepared properly, when an employee threatened to fight them before the manager doused them in hot water, causing significant pain and disfigurement.
"Due to the scalding water that remained in their clothes against their bodies, C.T. and Brittany felt like they were ’burning from the inside out,’" the complaint states. "The store they believed would be [a] place of service and safety quickly turned into [a] place of horrors."
Attorneys for the plaintiffs in the case filed a temporary injunction to release security video of the incident to both parties in the lawsuit, prompting Attorney Ben Crump to share the footage.

The main Gulf countries then pumped 2.4 million b/d more than they do now. And other participants in the OPEC+ deal, too.
In America itself, oil production in mid-summer was at around 12 million bpd. This is the highest figure since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic (before which production in America reached 12.8 million b/d).

According to the IDF, the tunnel entry shaft leads to a network of subterranean tunnels that branches throughout the Tel-Hawa area southwest of Gaza City and is also close to a police station, a UNWRA school, medical clinic, mosque, a community center and UNRWA’s headquarters in the area.
According to the IDF, Hamas has a munition production facility located in a building that is also used as a residential building. The site, which contains explosives and flammable material that would cause extreme damage should it explode, is 45 meters from a mosque, 55 meters from a UNRWA clinic that is used as a triage and primary screening center, and 60 meters from Shifa hospital.
Shifa is considered the blockaded enclave’s main hospital and treats thousands of patients daily. But it has also been used by the terror group for years, including in the 2009 Operation Cast Lead, when senior Hamas officials hid in the building. It also used the hospital in 2014 during Operation Protective Edge as its main headquarters.
The IDF also shared the location of a munition warehouse used by Hamas inside the al-Shahid Mosque in the Bureij refugee camp, in the heart of a civilian neighborhood and next to a public library funded by Germany’s KfW bank. The mosque serves as a community center, providing first aid courses and activities for local children.
Another mosque identified by the IDF as an ammunition depot was the Abdullah Azzam Mosque in the Nuseirat refugee camp. According to the army, the mosque is an important part of the camp, is surrounded by residential homes and is just 86 m. from the offices of UNRWA’s North Nuseirat relief and social services.
“An explosion, an accident or even a fire in the warehouse could result in injuries to civilians, from worshipers in the mosque to people who come to receive humanitarian aid,” the IDF said.
Following a Wednesday tour of the Gaza Division, Defense Minister Benny Gantz said, “Hamas fires from within the civilian population and into the civilian population – the world should charge Hamas a price for its crimes.”

Governor of Lower Shabelle region Ibrahim Aden Ali Naja said a suicide bomber wearing an explosive vest blew himself up outside the administrative office in Marka town, killing District Commissioner Abdullahi Ali Wafow and 12 others.
"Wafow was killed in the explosion together with 12 other people who he was talking to outside his office," Naja told journalists in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia.
The al-Shabab militant group which has engaged the Somali government in near-daily attacks across the country claimed responsibility for the attack in Marka town.
In the second attack, an official said the six were killed in two roadside explosions at a local market in Afgoye town in the same region.
Former spokesman of Afgoye district Administration Abdukadir Idle who was at the scene said two remotely-controlled landmines exploded at the crowded market. Idle noted that the second blast happened a few minutes later and targeted the people who were engaged in rescue operations.
"At least six people, mostly civilians, were killed and 18 others injured in the twin attacks conducted through remote-controlled explosive devices at Afgoye's animal market, the second blast caused more casualties," Idle told the Somali News Agency.
He said the market often hosts a large number of people who come to buy livestock Wednesday, which is a market day.
The militant group has intensified attacks as the government forces have made intensive operations against the extremists in central and southern regions in recent months in an attempt to flush out the al-Shabab cell.

The West African country has been plagued by war since 2012 and shaken by two coups d'état in two years (2020, 2021).The Group for the Support of Islam and Moslems (GSIM, JNIM in Arabic), affiliated to al-Qaeda, looks to extending its influence amid the confusion.
One of the lastest major event was the Friday attack on an army building in Kati, a garrison town 15km from Bamako and the heart of Mali's military apparatus where the president of the transitional authorities resides. One soldier was killed in the attack.
It is the first time that such a strategic and symbolic site is targetted. al-Qaeda jihadists had in recent years been targeting security posts in rural and peri-urban areas in Mali's north and centre.
STRATEGIC THREATS
It is a way to tell "(the authorities) that they can strike anywhere, as far away as possible" from their base, said a Malian observer of the security situation in Sévaré (centre).
The day before the Kati attack, six coordinated attacks were launched simultaneously in the centre and south of the country at 5am. A first. These southern regions (Sikasso, Koulikoro, Kayes), formerly spared by the foot soldiers of the jihad, are now a target.

MLF draws from the cattle-herding Fulani ... a peculiarly brutal tribe of Moslem herdsmen infesting Mali, Niger, Nigeria, and probably other places that are light on law and order and heavy on tribal identity... tribe extant in Mali, Niger, and Nigeria, which appeared in 2015 for the purpose of jihading against the farming tribes of Dogon and Bambara. Amadou was reported killed in a French raid, but he arose from the dead sometime around January 2019, to continue jihading as usual...
[AlAhram] At least 15 soldiers and three non-combatants were killed in coordinated "terrorist" attacks in Mali, the chronically unstable country's army said Wednesday, the latest deadly violence to rock the Sahel state.

Once Chinese emperors believed that they had a mandate from heaven to rule the world. In modern times, Chinese Communist rulers seem to have been hardly different in their belief. In his speech on July 1 last year marking the centennial of China's ruling communist party, Chinese President Xi Jinping said, "The Chinese people are not only good at taking down the old world but also good at building a new one." Will China succeed in building a new world, a world in their own image?
Observers say possibilities thereof are bleak. After American President Richard M Nixon embraced then Chinese supremo Mao Zedong in the early seventies and the latter's successor Deng Xiaoping introduced the path of state capitalism in the communist nation, it rose very fast economically. Today it is the second largest economy in the world. Beijing used its economic prowess to invest in different parts of the world and increase its sphere of influence.
Communist China is likely to find it difficult to stick to its path of investing in other nations to increase its influence. Its economy has of late been falling very fast due to "unfavourable domestic and external circumstances."
Communist China's currently much-trumpeted 'Zero-COVID' policy has proved economically disastrous for the nation. The latest data shows its GDP growth slowed to 0.4% in the second quarter compared to a year ago.
The Covid policy has led to a poor employment rate across the country. The unemployment rate for the 16-24 age- group climbed to a record 19.3% last month. This ratio is far higher than what it is in the United States, Europa ...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum... or Japan.
The observers warn there is little sign of the pandemic ending in the country any time soon. Far from it. As of July 15, there were still 31 cities under full or partial lockdown. Epidemiologists have predicted there may be a wave of at least 10 new variants of the virus in the country.
The situation is alarming. Recently, over 20 provincial-level regions have announced increase in locally transmitted cases. Chengdu in Sichuan has reduced public access to 'confined spaces' in the city. Lanzhou in Gansu has extended restrictions on movement in most districts. The Shanghai government has said that residents in more than half of the city's 16 districts need to be tested for the virus again.
The observers suggest all those nations ̶ India's neighbours, in particular ̶ which have been too dependent on the Chinese investment for their growth, may think of diversifying their sources of investment. Banking on the Chinese investment would be dicey.

A highly radicalised person associated with a terror group was arrested by the Bengaluru police on Sunday night. The arrest of Akthar Hussain Lashkar, a resident of Assam, led to the arrest of his associate Zubair from Salem in Tamil Nadu.
The police said that Hussain who was working as a food delivery executive was using his job to understand the topography of the city. He was also in the process of setting up meetings to plan attacks in Karnataka. Now that the Tamil Nadu angle has come up, the police will work closely with the central agencies as there are inter-state ramifications to this case.
The arrest comes just a month after the arrest of Talib Hussain a member of the Hizbul Mujahideen ...Party of Holy Warriors, founded by Muhammad Ahsan Dar in September 1989. One of the Pak sock puppets waging jihad in Indian Kashmir. It was originally organized as the armed wing of Jamaat-e-Islami. In 1990, Dar declared Hizbul as the sword arm of Jamaat. Hizbul murdered many of the pro-independence intelligentsia in Kashmir. After the organization was taken over by Syed Salahuddin Dar and several other ex-Hizb leaders were assassinated between 2001 and 2003... in Bengaluru. He was arrested from the Okhalipuram area and the police said that he had fled Jammu and Kashmir ...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there.... with his wife and children after the hunt for him had intensified.
Hussain had taken shelter in a mosque in the city and would deliver sermons during the Friday prayers.
In 2019 when the National Investigation Agency (NIA) probed a case relating to the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen, Bangladesh (JMB) it had found that Bengaluru had become a happy hunting ground for these terrorists.
Links between the operatives of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala were not uncommon and a pattern was found. Operatives would come in from the north- eastern states after infiltrating from Bangladesh. They would often land up at a migrant camp in Kerala and then enter into states like Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
In 2019 following the arrest of JMB terrorist Habibur Rehman, the NIA learnt that he had traveled from Bengal before going to Bengaluru, Kerala and Chennai. Rehman came to Bengaluru in 2015 and took up a job as a contractor. Prior to his arrest he ha moved to the outskirts of the city to avoid arrest.
Looking at the modus operandi and the investigation files, it has become clear that these persons had a common way of operating. They would come into the southern states, mingle with the migrant population including the Rohingya Moslems and then overstay in the southern states with a larger agenda of carrying out terror attacks.
In August 2019, one Ejaz Ahmed alias Taufique Raza, the emir of the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen, Bangladesh was arrested. His team had persons outside Bengal and even set up modules in Bihar, Karnataka and Kerala. He had mainly targeted migrant labour in these places and roped several of them into the module, officials, part of the investigation, also said.
A statistic of 2013 showed that there were around 2.5 million migrant workers in Kerala. Most persons were eager to take in the migrants colonists for work as the labour costs in Kerala is too high.
On 16 March 2017, the Kerala police arrested seven Bangladeshi nationals employed at a plywood factory and charged them with illegal immigration. This is just one of the many cases that was reported from Kerala over the years where several lakhs of Bangladeshis live illegally.
It becomes important to discuss the Kerala scenario in the wake of an Intelligence Bureau report stating that there would be more influx of illegal immigrants colonists into South India after the NRC was published by the Assam government. There are already reports that suggest that the touts in Kerala are already active and would look to facilitate the entry of more such persons into the state.
Officials tell OneIndia that the route into south India would be through Kerala, following which attempts would be made to infiltrate into the other southern states such as Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. They would be brought in as estate labour like has been done in the past, officials say.

In Florida, 106 churches are suing the United Methodist Church (UMC) because it charged them large amounts of money to leave, according to a recently filed lawsuit.
The National Center for Life and Liberty (NCLL) represents these churches.
The departure price varies from church to church, according to Jonathan Bailie, chief operations and financial officer of the NCLL.
Some congregations must pay more than $1 million, while others must pay less than $100,000, Bailie said. But in previous decades, leaving the UMC was free.
"Churches have been transferring to other denominations, like the Free Methodists, for decades," he said.
Some of the departing churches owned their buildings before the UMC denomination existed and maintained their buildings without UMC help, the lawsuit states. The denomination still demanded money from these churches.
The churches leaving are conservative, and they’re leaving over procedural and theological issues, Bailie said.

Being a born, raised and married by Methodist preacher. In a family that build from ground up 2 old style Methodist churches after working 12 hours and used weekend to finish it.
Our family and blood relatives all converted to Southern Baptist when the UMC went werid in the late 1970's early 80's.
While I agree each to their own, but keep it to your own. So that is between the person and GOD.
But the Bible and even the Koran both clearly state certain acts are a sin.
So given the UMC 1970+ agenda changes, it no longer follows the bible (the Word of GOD) .
So yes I can understand why many are fleeing the UMC and other Liberalized Chruches pimping GOD for $$$$$$. To attend where the Word Of GOD is still preached and practiced WITHOUT caveats.
