[Spectator] The youth aren’t doing well — not in America, at least. Even before Covid, experts were ringing the alarm bells about a decade-or-so-long trend of American teens and tweens experiencing a steady uptick in anxiety, depression and self-harm symptoms.
Late last year, US surgeon general Dr. Vivek Murthy published an official advisory attempting to raise awareness of this issue. As the accompanying press release explained, "from 2009 to 2019, the share of high school students who reported persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness increased by 40 percent, to more than one in three students. Suicidal behaviors among high school students also increased during the decade preceding Covid, with 19 percent seriously considering attempting suicide, a 36 percent increase from 2009 to 2019, and about 16 percent having made a suicide plan in the prior year, a 44 percent increase from 2009 to 2019." Murthy described the situation as a "dual crisis" — the terrible impact of Covid layered atop an already dire youth-mental-health landscape.
The most viscerally upsetting presentation of the stats I’ve seen is a graphic representation of CDC data for emergency room visits for self-inflicted injuries among 10- to 19-year-olds. It shows a truly jarring and sudden uptick that started in 2009 — a terrifyingly steep line shooting up toward the heavens.
Both sexes are suffering, but the pain hasn’t been distributed equally between them. As the social psychologist Jonathan Haidt, who has written at length about this phenomenon, put it in testimony he submitted to a congressional subcommittee, "the base rate for mood disorders is always higher for girls than boys, particularly after puberty, which means that a doubling of the rate produces far more additional sick girls than boys... [and] there are some disorders and age groups for which girls are up far more, especially for self-harm, which is a much more common way of manifesting anxiety in girls than in boys."
What’s going on, exactly? The short answer is that no one knows for sure. One possibility is that the 2008 financial crisis, a genuinely world-historical event, had some medium- and long-term effects. Think of the millions of kids raised in households hit with a sudden jolt of genuine, novel precarity — whether from a home foreclosure forcing a move, a parent losing a job or other factors — and then having to live with the aftermath. Researchers have believed for a long time that traumatic events suffered at a young age have a particularly brutal impact on young people’s wellbeing. It makes sound theoretical sense that the recession would leave an impact on the children hit hardest by it, and that the effects would linger for years. (Of course it left an impact on adults as well — by one 2013 estimate published in the British Medical Journal, the largest suicide rate increase in the Americas occurred among men aged 45-64, a group hard hit by layoffs and foreclosures.)
And not long after the recession, another world-historical development: the explosive rise of social media on mobile devices. Facebook accessed via a shared clunker of a desktop computer in the family room on dial-up is one thing; Facebook on a smartphone is quite another. Starting around 2010, teenagers were able to mainline information about their classmates, and to communicate with them 24/7, in a manner never before possible.

Maybe the white ones are depressed because they are being told they are the cause of all of the worlds problems. The kids of color are depressed because they are being told everything is rigged against them.
[Dallas Morning News] After nearly passing through the busiest stretch of the summer travel season, airlines are pulling back schedules and international airports are adding passenger limits in hopes of avoiding a total meltdown heading into the rest of the busy summer travel season the fall.
In the last few weeks, Fort Worth-based American Airlines cut thousands of flights over the next three months after Chicago-based United Airlines said it is putting growth on hold into 2023. This week United cut another 3,900 flights from its October plans.
The airlines need to capitalize on high ticket prices to make up for more than $37 billion in losses over the last two and a half years, even with $50 billion in government aid. Even so, airline executives are deciding that restraint is now the only option, even with strong customer demand.
Several factors are contributing to those decisions. Carriers and airports face labor shortages, heightened by logjams in training. Outbreaks and new variants of COVID-19 are emerging. Supply chain issues and airplane delivery delays loom, which particularly affect the rebounding international travel market. Most of those factors have covid in common.
Some of Europe’s biggest airports in London, Frankfurt and Amsterdam are adding capacity caps that are straining the international travel system at some of its most critical connecting points.
Meanwhile, a pilot shortage that has loomed over airlines for more than a decade likely won’t resolve itself for two or three years. Labor unions say workers are fed up with long hours, forced overtime and rebooked flights even as they fight for higher pay to make up for historic inflation. Related to pilot reductions due to covid vaccine mandates. Sensing a theme? The biggest logjam in the airline industry right now is in training. American and Southwest have each hired more than 10,000 employees during the last year. But it takes weeks or months of training before those new hires are ready to work. And it takes months or years before they’re running at full speed, said Kenneth Quinn, a former counsel for the Federal Aviation Administration.
For airlines and airports, the staffing shortage has spread from restaurant workers and janitors to baggage handlers and ticket agents.
Isom said it could be two or three years before one labor shortage is worked out — the need for regional airline pilots. The training pipeline for pilots is long and expensive, leading airlines to fight for the limited number of pilots already certified.
For airline travelers, the mix of labor shortages, high fuel prices and strong demand mean ticket prices will remain stubbornly high and flights will continue to be scarce, Grant said. "That means maybe less production coming online." "It also means the consumer is going to have to be willing to pay more." Pay more for less - another measure of Joeflation.

Fewer flights means more overbooking, more passengers bumped. If you get bumped from your flight, the entire point of flying to save time is mooted, unless you are traveling overseas, in which case you have no choice anyway.

In my lifetime flying coach has gone from pleasant and comfortable, to an ordeal of physical discomfort coupled with massive inconvenience and expense both before and after. Now we have devolved to unreliable and downright insulting. Look at the massive unclaimed baggage displays at major airports, and remember, every single bag has the name, address and contact information of the owner. The airline simply ignored bothering to even send a simple notification, since most of the bags were sent as checked baggage to the wrong location, and notification would require additional handling and workload. Customer service is an alien concept to United, American and even Delta.

[Free Beacon] A United Nations official investigating alleged Israeli crimes said in an interview that social media platforms are controlled by an all-powerful "Jewish lobby."
Miloon Kothari, a member of a U.N. Commission of Inquiry that is leading what critics say is a biased investigation against Israel, made the comments during an interview this week with Mondoweiss, an anti-Zionist blog that has been dogged by accusations it amplifies anti-Semitic hatred of Israel and Jews.
"We are very disheartened by the social media that is controlled largely by whether it's the Jewish lobby or it's the specific [nonprofit groups]," Kothari said. "A lot of money is being thrown into trying to discredit us."
Pro-Israel organizations say the investigation into Israel is biased due to its broad mandate and open-ended nature and that Kothari's comments are another sign the investigation will be unfair to Israel. The commission is tasked with identifying the root causes of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It already has concluded in one report that "Israel has no intention of ending the occupation"—language that critics of the probe say reveals the inquiry's implicit bias against the Jewish state.

[Guardian] The US’s biggest oil companies pumped out record profits over the last few months as Americans struggled to pay for gasoline, food and other basic necessities.
On Friday, ExxonMobil reported an unprecedented $17.85bn (£14.77bn) profit for the second quarter, nearly four times as much as the same period a year ago, and Chevron made a record $11.62bn (£9.61bn). The sky-high profits were announced one day after the UK’s Shell shattered its own profit record.
Soaring energy prices have rattled consumers and become a political flashpoint. "We’re going to make sure everybody knows Exxon’s profits," Joe Biden said in June. "Exxon made more money than God this year."
The record profits came after similarly outsized gains in the first quarter when the largest oil companies made close to $100bn in profits.
High energy prices are one of the leading factors driving inflation to a four-decade high in the US. Gas prices have fallen slightly in recent weeks but are now averaging $4.25 a gallon across the US, more than $1 a gallon higher than a year ago.
Consumers are facing high fuel prices not just at the pump. Soaring energy prices are being baked into delivery costs, which is driving up the cost of everything from apples to toilet paper.
One reason gasoline prices have been so high is that fewer refineries are operating in the US than before the pandemic, so there is a limit to how much gasoline can be produced.
Biden has called for the companies to increase production and refining capacities in an attempt to bring down prices. On Friday Exxon said it was expanding refinery and production in Texas and New Mexico.
Exxon, based in Irving, Texas, increased its oil and gas production as crude prices hovered above $100 a barrel. Revenue at Exxon soared to $115.68bn, up from $67.74bn during the same quarter last year.
Natural gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices are also elevated due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and ensuing sanctions against Russia, a large supplier of natural gas. Many European nations have been scrambling for alternatives to Russian natural gas, and have been competing for boatloads of LNG, driving up prices for natural gas globally and in the US.
In addition to oil company executives, shareholders also reaped the benefits of high energy prices during the quarter. Since the start of 2022, Exxon and Chevron shares have risen close to 46% and 26%, respectively.

The fastest way to lose money in the oil business is to drill a dry hole. With drilling shut down, the oil companies are turning to the aspects of their operations that they can operate, and those are making unusual profits in the current distorted market.

It is nearly word for word a Daily Mail article about a month and a half ago explaining why their energy producers are having record profits at consumer expense so taxes need to be raised to give consumers tax relief on energy prices.

After 12 years in the oil industry I can tell you that the numbers on paper aren't reality. Because you need to explore and deal with delays, those profits vanish when a hurricane ends drilling for 3 weeks and the rigs have to flee or a drill string gets stuck down hole and costs you an extra 5-6 million to deal with. Operating costs in this industry are HIGH.
[Townhall] The trail of breadcrumbs that Hunter Biden left goes beyond that of Hansel and Gretel, but no one wants to look into this guy. The crack addict has been a public relations nightmare for his father, yet the liberal media's shield of protection prevents any accountability.
The shady government access deals have been widely known among some of us since Tony Bobulinski went on record to discuss the 2017 deal that fell through with CEFC China Energy. The Biden family was still compensated for their time, however. This deal involved Joe Biden, "the big guy," and showed the president lied about not knowing his son's allegedly corrupt foreign exploits. The Hunter Biden laptop has been a treasure trove of inquiry into potentially felonious activity, but no one wants to touch it for the most part. If Hunter were the son of a Republican, this would be the top story for months.
Mia has combed through that iCloud, a Pandora's Box of debauchery. While the crack cocaine, hookers, white claws, and M&M stories are fun, the tax evasion probe is real and ongoing. Yet, there's a serious snag. Delaware's US Attorney's Office isn't big enough to handle the investigation. They lack the resources to investigate all the angles of the case. Hunter Biden and corruption is an ever-growing amoeba, and this office is reportedly in dire need of reinforcements.
Margot Cleveland at The Federalist has more, including a recap of all the family's suspicious activities:

[Oilprice.com] The Biden administration has earmarked $5 billion ready to be disbursed to states with EV charging infrastructure plans in place. States are on board with the shift to EVs and are indeed making plans for charging infrastructure. But the people at the end of the line, those who will host the chargers, are having misgivings. Utility Dive reported this week that convenience store owners have sounded the alarm about the EV infrastructure bill, saying the legislation behind it is discouraging private investment, which is going to be essential for the successful shift to EVs.
The report cited Doug Kantor, general counsel of the National Association of Convenience Stores, as saying that the sector was concerned about turning in a profit from EV chargers in the current political framework regarding these.
"There is no way to build out the infrastructure that’s needed to charge vehicles without private investment. To just do it with public money, that’s not going to happen," Doug Kantor said.
Retailers’ main worries have to do with demand charges and the option for regulated utilities to own EV chargers. According to the NACS, the charges need to be reduced or eliminated, and fair competition between regulated utilities and private businesses in EV charging needs to be ensured.
This is the latest chapter in the EV infrastructure story unfolding in the United States under the ambitious Biden administration’s plans to electrify transport. Per these plans, the country should have half a million chargers installed in the coming years, for which the administration allocated $5 billion.

Lithium-ion batteries burning are considered a 'Class B' fire (as the batteries contain liquid electrolytes that provide a conductive pathway), so a standard 'ABC' fire extinguisher should be used.
Since lithium-ion batteries aren’t made with metallic lithium, a Class D dry powder extinguisher would not be effective.
Even so, with the larger batteries, it takes a LOT of extinguishing chemicals to put them out. Your tiny kitchen extinguisher wouldn't do it.

Son is a Metro-Atlanta area firefighter.
He has handled a dozen or so EV fires.
If I understood him correctly. The general process is to Surround, Contain, protect the surround area and watch it burn itself into a Hazmat Environment Mess.
YAA December 19, 2021 - Justin Fischer = "EV battery fires require A LOT more water to extinguish. ... Some fires have needed 30,000 gallons of water to extinguish. ... Once the fire appears fully extinguished, there’s a chance it could still flare up, even days later. Towing services and junkyards are advised to park damaged electric vehicles at least 50 feet from other vehicles in the yard. "
An EV with a typical 60 kWh battery pack, will take 60 hours 2.5 DAYS to fully recharge and still only have a 200 to 320 miles driving range.
The amount of energy used to produce, power and recharge an EV, is something like 3.5 times more than needed to make and use a gallon gas. Which refills in under 10 mins and drives 300+ miles per tank fill.
Plus, we have not discussed Environment issues of mining Rare Earths and production for the EV battery and disposal at end of the currently seen 5-6 year lifecycle.
[Breitbart] Colleges across America have held "white accountability groups" that urge white students to check their privilege and become "anti-racist" allies.
One such university is the University of North Texas, which held a white accountability group through its Division of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access.
The description explained that members of their white accountability group will police the behavior of other white people. It said "Members ... will hold fellow white employees accountable for oppressive behaviors and the systems in which those behaviors are tolerated."
The University of California San Diego’s Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion runs a "White Allyship, Action & Accountability" initiative. The initiative encourages students to "Understand and examine the role of white allies at UC San Diego in addressing systemic racism and anti-Blackness." The webpage for the initiative includes a number of different anti-racism resources, including a 44-part checklist for white allies.
Loyola University Maryland also hosted white accountability groups. The university’s Office of Equity and Inclusion tacitly argued that its white students were vessels for white supremacy when it stated that the purpose of such groups was to "keep ourselves and our campus accountable as we continue to work towards dismantling white supremacy in all the spaces that it lives, even (and especially) when that space is inside of us."
The University of St. Thomas is yet another university that hosts a "White Accountability Workshop." The program is intended to serve as a "space for students to explore how whiteness and racism show up in our daily lives and systems to affect our thoughts, feelings, relationships, health & wellbeing, community and much more." Students at the University of St. Thomas are encouraged to have an "anti-racist awakening."
Dominican University hosted white accountability groups earlier this year, which it referred to as "an opportunity for individuals who identify as white to participate in dialogue on recognizing their whiteness and white privilege." The group met for eight different sessions.

[NPASyria] On Friday, Syrian government forces reinforced several military posts in the vicinity of the city of Jasim in the northern countryside of Daraa, a governorate south Syria, following threats to shell and storm the city.
Eyewitnesses told North Press, "The government forces set new military posts on the outskirts of Jasim in tandem with military reinforcements arrived in the region."
"The government forces started the process of setting a military post near a military checkpoint in the town of Saraya, another post in Kherbit Saraya, and a third one in a sulfur plant on the outskirts of Jasim," the eyewitnesses added.
These reinforcements came days after threats by leader of security committee of Syrian government forces, Major General Mofeed Hassan, to storm and shell the city.
The leader’s threats, during a meeting with dignitaries of the city, came in response to wanted individuals for government after they rejected to join settlement agreements.
Hassan requested the wanted individuals leave the city, accusing them of involvement in liquidations against government officials.
On Saturday, government military reinforcements arrived in Tel al-Mahes near Jasim.
Residents of the city fear the repetition of last year events when the city was shelled and civilian casualties were reported.
On Thursday, a meeting between tribal leaders and Central Committee on one hand and the security committee of the government forces on the other in Daraa concluded, agreeing to the withdrawal of the government forces from the outskirts of the city of Tafas in return for departing the wanted individuals for security apparatuses to their towns.
Since the government forces re-captured Daraa in 2018, the governorate has been living in a state of insecurity, with one or two daily liquidations targeting soldiers and officers of the government forces, not to mention the spread of thefts.
In 2021, Daraa Governorate went through an 80-day-seige. After that, a number of Daraa’s notables and government forces, with mediation of Russian officers, reached a ceasefire agreement on September 5, 2021, including handing over weapons and deploying governmental security posts in the towns of the governorate.
[NPASyria] In the last week of July, two civilians bit the dust and about 15 others were maimed in different areas in northeast Syria after Ottoman Turkish forces and their affiliated armed Syrian opposition factions escalated their shelling.

The Ottoman Turkish escalation followed trilateral summit in the Iranian capital Tehran that brought presidents of Iran, Russia and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

[The Cipher Brief] BOOK REVIEW: Putin’s Trolls: On the Frontlines of Russia’s Information War Against the World
Finns like to say "Ei se pelaa, joka pelkää" ("No guts, no glory") about people like Finnish journalist Jessikka Aro, who have the courage to act during the most trying of times. In spite of having faced repeated death threats and slander, Aro bravely exposes the truth about the Kremlin’s propaganda machine in her book, Putin’s Trolls.
Putin’s Trolls delivers a comprehensive history of the Kremlin’s aggressive information warfare against Ukraine beginning in 2014, when Russian state media portrayed the Kiev government (and still does today), as "fascist" and full of Nazis. Aro reveals how Russia deployed Soviet era propaganda techniques designed to influence the local Russian speaking population in the Donbas.
One of the reasons the book works so well is because Aro has extensive experience as a journalist and is a substantive expert on Russia. She worked as a foreign affairs correspondent for Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat; as a journalist in Petrozavodsk, Karelia; attended Moscow State University; and currently works for Finland’s public service broadcaster YLE (Yleisradio). As part of her research, she visited and conducted interviews at the St Petersburg based Internet Research Agency aka Russian Troll Farm, that is infamous for creating fake online accounts used to influence U.S. public opinion during the 2016 presidential election.
Aro also describes in great detail the history of Bill Browder and the Magnitsky Act as well as Russian propaganda attacks on a senior Lithuanian diplomat, who supported the Belarus opposition, a Norwegian journalist, and a Serbian political analyst. Interestingly, Aro also highlights the white hat cyber warriors including Ukrainian Infonapalm and Bellingcat, which has distinguished itself via extraordinary reporting on the Russian downing of a Malaysian Airlines passenger aircraft in 2014. Just a personal opinion: Infonapalm is not very credible.
Aro details the extent to which U.S. networking and social media enabled Russian cyber operations including launching attacks against her and other journalists as well as disseminating the Kremlin’s propaganda. (In 2018, the Helsinki District Court found three Finns guilty of defamation against Aro.)
Aro makes a tremendous contribution to our understanding of Russian propaganda operations, all the more important given Finland’s trajectory towards full membership in NATO. One can only expect Russia to increase the intensity of its already full throttled cyber information warfare against Finland. Aro would do well to take on this issue and others in a follow up to Putin’s Trolls, which effectively concludes its narrative in 2019.

[OneClickPolitics] Tyrants in DC are pushing through a new federal "assault weapons" ban that is even more draconian than the original 1994 ban. HR 1808 - which would ban nearly all ARs, AKs, AR pistols (and even many handguns and shotguns) - was advanced by the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, July 20th. By gaining the approval of the Judiciary Committee in a 25-18 vote, H.R. 1808 now awaits a full vote in the House.

A 16-year-old Paleostinian boy has died after allegedly being shot by an Israeli settler in the village of al-Mughayyir, east of Ramallah, the Paleostinian Ministry of Health announced.
The head of the al-Mughayyir village council told MEE that the boy, Amjad Nashaat Abu Alia, was rubbed out by settlers who were attacking a peaceful march that started from the village in opposition to escalating settler attacks.
Amin Abu Alia confirmed that he was a witness to the shooting. He added that he saw a number of armed settlers accompanied by Israeli occupation soldiers.
Dozens of residents of al-Mughayyir took part in the peaceful march alongside solidarity activist muppets, raising Paleostinian flags and chanting slogans.
"The Israeli soldiers began suppressing the march by firing gas bombs and bullets without any justification," Abu Ali told Middle East Eye.
He said about five young men were shot, three with rubber-coated metal bullets, and two with live ammunition.
GREAT SADNESS
Abu Alia said that Amjad's father had cancer and was in a difficult health condition, and had received the news of his son's death with great sadness.
The whole village was in a state of grief and mourning ahead of Amjad's funeral on Saturday, with the ceremony to start from the Paleostine Medical Complex in Ramallah.
Tthe coordinator of the Agricultural Committee in al-Mughayyir, Kazem al-Hajj Muhammad, told MEE that the village had witnessed a dangerous escalation in recent months following attacks from settlers protected by occupation soldiers.
He said settlers pursued farmers, preventing them from reaching their lands, and expelling them from them.
They also frequently detained farmers for hours and severely beat them.
He said the settlers who launched attacks on the village of al-Mughayyir recently had been living for a year-and-a-half inside a settlement outpost they set up inside an army camp built on parts of the village's lands.
"The settlers today were suppressing the march with stones and shooting, and the soldiers stood by and watched... It was about five armed settlers who shot up the demonstrators," he said.
The Israeli version of events — in full, for contrast of tone as well as details so you can judge for yourself, dear Reader:
[IsraelTimes] 16-year-old shot in chest near al-Mughayyir, PA health ministry says; army says troops responded to riot; Israeli drivers come under rock attack nearby
A 16-year-old Paleostinian was killed by live fire during festivities with Israeli soldiers near the West Bank town of al-Mughayyir, the Paleostinian Authority health ministry said Friday.
Paleostinian media reports identified the teen as Amjad Abu Alia.
According to the health ministry, Abu Alia was shot in the chest.
Several other Paleostinians were hurt amid the festivities, according to Paleostinian media.
The Israel Defense Forces said that soldiers and Border Police officers responded to a violent mostly peaceful protest near the town northeast of Ramallah with riot dispersal means and live fire in some cases.
The military said it was aware of reports regarding a Paleostinian killed.
According to the IDF, hundreds of Paleostinians set fire to tires and hurled stones at Israeli vehicles passing the area.
A dashcam video showed one driver having stones hurled at him by a group of Paleostinians. He was unharmed, according to Hebrew-language media reports.
Shortly after, new festivities erupted between a group of settlers and Paleostinians, which included both sides throwing stones at each other, the IDF said. Troops dispersed that gathering too.

That's one permanent hostile, permanently down. Good.
[The Conversation] These are the words of double agent "M", who operated for the Dutch security service and the CIA against the East German Stasi for 22 years. In early 1985, it appeared that the Stasi may have uncovered his deception — and his true loyalty to the west. He was in East Berlin at the time and the men had rudely awoken M around 4am. Still in pyjamas, he was taken from the safe house where he was staying for debriefing sessions with his Stasi handlers to a van with darkened windows that transported him, under armed guard, to a prison.
They told him he was in the Untersuchungshaftanstalt (pre-trial detention center) Berlin-Hohenschönhausen, a notorious site during the cold war under the control of the Ministry of State Security (Stasi). M was forced to undergo a degrading and extremely painful cavity inspection, before being taken — still naked — to an interrogation room.
His captors intimidated him by pouring cold water over him from a bucket until the afternoon. They taunted him constantly, saying things like "You betrayed Marxism-Leninism" and "You are a CIA agent". Yet M said he felt strangely reassured because these accusations were not specific — they were meant to provoke him. In other words, his interrogators seemed to lack proof.
[DW] Researchers at Yale University say the Russian economy is suffering massive damage due to Western sanctions, despite Moscow downplaying the effect.
Sanctions on Russia are taking a heavy toll on the economy, despite Moscow's assertion that the country is not feeling the pinch, according to a new study from Yale University.
The authors claim their work casts doubt on Moscow's claims that the economy remains robust and that the West is suffering more through "a war of economic attrition."
WHAT DOES THE STUDY SAY?
Yale's team of experts used consumer data and figures from Russia's international trade and shipping partners to measure economic activity five months after Moscow launched its invasion of Ukraine.
They found that Russia's position as a commodities exporter had been irreversibly eroded, having been forced to switch from its main markets in Europa ...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum... toward Asia.
The study said Russian imports have largely collapsed since the war began, and that the country is facing stark challenges securing crucial inputs, parts, and technology.
"Russian domestic production has come to a complete standstill with no capacity to replace lost businesses, products and talent," the team found.
"The hollowing out of Russia's domestic innovation and production base has led to soaring prices and consumer angst," the authors added.
With the exodus of some 1,000 global companies, Russia has lost companies that represent some 40% of gross domestic product, according to the study.
The report said Putin was resorting to patently unsustainable, dramatic fiscal and monetary intervention to smooth over structural economic weaknesses.
It added that the Russian government budget had gone into deficit for the first time, and the Kremlin's finances are "in much, much more dire straits than conventionally understood."
Meanwhile, ...back at the comedy club, Boogie was cracking himself up, but nobody else seemed to be getting the non-stop jokes... the authors said Russian financial markets — with an eye on future outlook — were the worst performing in the world, limiting capacity to tap new investment to revitalize the economy.
'CHERRY-PICKED' STATISTICS
"Since the invasion, the Kremlin's economic releases have become increasingly cherry-picked, selectively tossing out unfavorable metrics while releasing only those that are more favorable," the study said.
"These Putin-selected statistics are then carelessly trumpeted across media and used by reams of well-meaning but careless experts in building out forecasts which are excessively, unrealistically favorable to the Kremlin."
New figures for Russian industrial production for June show that it was significantly depressed across a range of sectors compared with last year.
For cars, production was down by 89%, while for fiber optic cables it dropped by almost 80%.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR RUSSIAN ECONOMY?
The authors of the Yale study said that Russia had no path out of "economic oblivion," provided that Western allies stay unified on sanctions.
"Defeatist headlines arguing that Russia's economy has bounced back are simply not factual — the facts are that, by any metric and on any level, the Russian economy is reeling, and now is not the time to step on the brakes," it said.
A separate study by the German Institute for International and Security Affairs published in June also suggested that the Russian economy was in dire straits, despite having held up well initially in the face of sanctions.
"The sanctions' effects are only just beginning to unfold: Supply-chain problems are intensifying and demand is falling quickly."
"In the longer run, Russia's economy will become more primitive as it partially decouples from international trade," it said.
"To avoid social tensions, the government will intervene to support Russian businesses, leading to more protectionism and a larger state footprint in the economy."
[NYPOST] "We should avoid a semantic battle" said Janet Yellen yesterday. "A what?" In short it seems what the Treasury Secretary means is that we should not use the word "recession."
That is a shame, because people, including Yellen’s boss, used to like to use the word a lot. In October 2020, when he was running for office, Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. Former Senator-for-Life from Delaware, an example of the kind of top-notch Washington intellect to be found in the World's Greatest Deliberative Body.... said "President Obama and I left Donald Trump ...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US... a booming economy — and he caused a recession. He squandered it just like he has everything else he’s inherited in his life." He said the same thing in September 2020, claiming that American was in a "recession created by Donald Trump’s negligence."
Fast forward a couple of years and The White House is now reframing the meaning of the word and warning us all not to use it. It is true that until yesterday it was generally agreed that two straight quarters of negative GDP growth was the common definition of a recession. But yesterday President Biden said, "That doesn’t sound like a recession to me." This fact should surprise no one.
Because re-naming things is one of the left’s favorite pastimes. If you cannot change the facts then you can at least change the language around the facts. By doing so you can massage the facts, make them less concerning and in the process wish reality away. For a time, at least.
Remember the redefinition of another word: the "T" word. "Transitory" was the word Biden used after the third stimulus package in an attempt to claim that inflation was a fleeting issue. Back then he was dismissing inflation as a nothing-burger — all to do with supply chains that were being fixed anyhow. But many months later and the inflation is still with us. It turns out that things that are "Transitory" can stay around a lot longer than we thought.

I find it unfortunate that under 30s are social tards.
That said, I also have an ongoing debate among the campfire: how much different is it from when we were?
I remember bus rides to meets - we had our walkman on, nose deep in the latest comics or whatnots, passing them around to laugh or talk about the good ones. Road trips, the adults giving us games and time wasters to, I know now, save their sanity. The winning question, "Given Road Bingo, or the entire Super Mario collection, which would you, as a kid, have wanted?"
Social Media is anti-social, that is a proven, especially after The Covid. We are trying to get at something deeper which creates such titles, and I am all open. I'll serve:
There is a fundamental disconnect between cause and effect. Communication technology amplifies that disconnect.

The heroism of the Russian fighters and, without exaggeration, by a miracle, victory was given in the defense of the Petropavlovsk port in 1854 during the Crimean War. After more than a century and a half, many of the names of the heroes of that battle became known. And not only their names, but also the names of those places from where the sailors of the Kamchatka naval crew were called to the service of the Fatherland, which became the core of the defense of the Petropavlovsk port.
Muriel Bowser requested National Guard help dealing with the some-4,000 migrants Texas and Arizona have left at Washington, D.C.'s doorstep
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said officials are considering the request but Republicans were 'wrong' to use migrants as a 'political pawn'
'So they're concerned about migrants coming to America illegally within their cities - have they ever been to the border?' McCarthy, R-Calif., said

[IsraelTimes] Suspect accused of participating in a violent mostly peaceful attack against a Jewish man in the northern town during the May 2021 riots; victim sustained life-threatening injuries.
An Arab Israeli man has been indicted on terror charges for participating in a mob attack against a Jewish resident of Acre during the May 2021 riots that left the victim, Mor Ganashvili, with life-threatening injuries.
Rani Piran, 28, a resident of Acre, was charged on Thursday with committing a terrorist act causing serious injury with aggravated intent, racially motivated rioting, arson, and a series of other offenses over several days.
The riots in Acre were part of a series of violent mostly peaceful inter-communal disturbances, particularly in Israel’s mixed Jewish-Arab cities, that took place in the days following the outbreak of war between Israel and Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", in Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... on May 10 last year.
Piran is the fourth person to be indicted on terror offenses for the attack on Ganashvili, who was beaten with iron bars and other blunt instruments that rendered him unconscious and left him with two brain hemorrhages, internal bleeding, and numerous other injuries.
Ganashvili was rescued by another Arab Israeli resident of Acre, nurse Fadi Qassem, who gave him first aid treatment and helped save his life before security forces and emergency medical services took him to the hospital.
In total, 239 people have been indicted as of May 2022 for terror offenses during the May 2021 riots, of whom 15 percent are Jews and 85% are Arabs, according to figures from the State Attorney’s Office.
According to the indictment, Piran was one of dozens of masked rioters who were roaming the streets of Acre on the night of May 12, throwing stones and launching fireworks at coppers and destroying public property.
They set up a roadblock using furniture and other objects, which Ganashvili encountered while driving to visit his mother whom he was worried about due to the ongoing riots.
The rioters, including Piran according to the indictment, pelted Ganashvili’s car, which had Israeli flags on it, with stones and other objects, causing him to lose control and crash into a wall.
Ganashvili got out of the car and tried to escape but was stopped and severely beaten by the mob, until he was rescued by Qassem.
Piran has also been charged with the arson of the Uri Buri restaurant in the old city of Acre on the night of May 11.
The indictment alleges that all of the offenses he was charged with were motivated by a nationalistic ideology.
Piran was arrested on June 20 and has been in jug since then. The State Attorney’s Office has requested that he remain in prison until the end of his legal proceedings.

[ColonelCassad] North Macedonia handed over to Ukraine T-72 tanks, which Russia had once presented to Ukraine as fraternal aid against the Albanians.
Now that your attention has been drawn ( https://t.me/rbc_news/54878 ), let's talk about how fact-checking overcomes evil.
The Serbian portal RTS published a note on the morning of July 29, in which described how North Macedonia is handing over T-72 tanks to Ukraine. “The Macedonian army has 31 vehicles of this type in service. These tanks were supplied to the authorities of Skopje by Russia in 2000 during the uprising of Ali Ahmeti’s People’s Liberation Army,” write the Serbs. This note was brought to the attention of the Russian Interfax, honestly reprinting the information without double-checking.
Following Interfax, the information of the Serbian RTS is being reprinted by the Ukrainian media, which, despite all the events of the past five months, are still closely monitoring the Russian media in search of informational reasons. And now UNIAN writes about a Russian gift given to Ukrainians.
In reality, of course, everything was a little different: not a gift, but a sale, and not by Russia, but by Ukraine. In 1999, even before the start of the Albanian uprising, Ukraine and then just Macedonia signed a contract for the supply of military equipment from Soviet reserves, RBC notes. Deliveries, Kyiv, of course, delayed.
A batch of Soviet-made T-72A from 31 combat vehicles came to Skopje only in 2001. “This is the last batch of tanks to Macedonia, which was carried out in accordance with the agreement concluded between Ukraine and Macedonia in 1999. We, as a contracting party with Macedonia, assumed certain obligations, and as a predictable and reliable partner, we had to fulfill them," he said (dead link) in 2001, Anatoly Zlenko, then Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
In 2022, the circle closed and the T-72A drove back.
In connection with this story, I would like to draw attention to several points. Firstly, Ukrainian monitors continue to follow their Russian counterparts just as closely as before, when the Ukrainian media generally followed the lead of Russian media giants. The story of the transfer of the “Russian gift” to Ukraine was born not in the bowels of the CIPSO, but in the Russian information field.
Secondly, it is certainly interesting to observe the tonality of informational reasons wandering from the country - if for the Serbs the transfer of "Russian" tanks to Ukraine looks like an occasion to once again reproach their southern neighbor, who betrayed the Slavic brotherhood and left for NATO, then in the Ukrainian media and blogs this history turns into yet another reason to laugh at Russia.
By the way, where did the rumors about the transfer of Russian tanks to North Macedonia in 2000 really come from? It’s hard to imagine now, but their roots are in the once-existing “brotherhood” of Moscow and Kyiv. In 2000, the British Times published an article on the supply of arms to Macedonia by Michael Evans, which stated that both Russia and Ukraine were supplying weapons to this conflict zone. “The main supplier of weapons is Ukraine.
But, of course, Russian weapons are also coming in. There is no doubt that the government is behind this. By the way, these weapons are supplied on absolutely legal grounds, these operations cannot be called illegal, ”the author of the article said in an interview with the then foreign media agent Radio Liberty.

[REGNUM] At the mouth of the Danube, a Ukrainian small geographic vessel "Shlyakhovich" was blown up on a sea mine, Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev, head of the National Center for Defense Control of Russia, said at a briefing on July 29.
He clarified that the small geographical vessel "Shlyakhovich" of the State Hydrographic Service of Ukraine was blown up by a drifting mine torn from anchor.
"So, on July 28, 2022, when measuring the depths of the fairway at the mouth of the Danube River, a small geographic vessel Shlyakhovich was blown up on a Ukrainian drifting mine," Mizintsev said.
He also recalled that the sea minefields created by Ukrainian militants still do not allow dozens of foreign ships to leave Ukrainian ports.

This doesn't seem like something the Ukrainians would brag about AND there have been reports of drifting mines, from Turkey if memory serves.
De-mining Odessa is a sticking point in getting grain shipping restarted. Shippers want the mines cleared to reduce their risk. Ukraine wants to keep the mines to deter a Russian assault on Odessa.
[An Nahar] A The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund... -based grains trading company denied Friday that barley and flour aboard a ship docked in the Port of Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... in Leb ...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers... had been stolen from Ukraine, saying the source of the flour is Russia.
An official at Loyal Agro Co LTD said that the firm had sought to sell 5,000 tons of the flour on the ship to private buyers in Lebanon and not to the Lebanese government.
The Ukrainian Embassy in Lebanon on Thursday told Rooters that a U.S.-sanctioned Syrian ship had docked in Tripoli "carrying 5,000 tons of barley and 5,000 tons of flour that we suspect was taken from Ukrainian stores."
The company official said that the cargo, some 8,000 tons of flour and 1,700 tons of barley in total, had initially been destined for Syria but the company decided to offload 5,000 tons of flour in Lebanon amid bread shortages tied to a three-year economic crisis. The official added that the flour could be sold for between $620 to $650 per ton in Lebanon, whereas a ton would fetch $600 in Syria.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin
[ColonelCassad] 1. After the tantrums of Denisova, who was raped with a spoon, the issues of the exchange of prisoners were taken over by the Main Intelligence Directorate (Ukrainian GRU) of the Ministry of Defense, which promised to make the process of negotiations and exchanges less public.
2. Ukrainian GRU was directly involved in ensuring the process of "extraction" (that is, capitulation) of the remnants of the AFU grouping at Azovstal.
Representatives of the Ukrainian GRU made statements that a "fine special operation to liberate" was underway, trying to explain by this the surrender of the remnants of the Mariupol group.
3. Also during the negotiations on the "extraction" it was the Ukrainian GRU that chose Yelenovka as the place of detention of prisoners from Azovstal, with which our negotiators agreed (the wounded were taken to Novoazovsk). Basurin confirmed this today. Basurin refers to Lt. Col Eduard Basurin, who is chief spokesman for the Donetsk People's Republic Ministry of Defense.
4. That is, the path of prisoners of war from Azovstal to the Yelenovka colony was laid by the Ukrainian GRU, which first agreed on the terms of surrender, and then on where the prisoners of war would be kept and what guarantees of detention the DPR gives.
5. The Ukrainian GRU also collects target designations for strikes and sabotage from the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other departments. The GRU openly declares that various objects on the territory of the DPR were hit on the basis of information received through the technical and intelligence channels of the Ukrainian GRU.
6. Further more interesting. Back on June 5, the Nezygar channel published a post https://t.me/russica2/46486 about possible strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine using Western weapons, where among the targets at number Two was the colony in Yelenovka. Text of that post is listed below
The second goal is a prisoner of war camp in the village of Yelenovka, where the Nazis from Azovstal and the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are located.
The British want to frame the MLRS strike as an attempt by the Russian Armed Forces to hide "execution and torture of prisoners, and then hype on Bucha's temnik" Nezygar referred to the Mi-6 proposals.
Mi-6 more than closely coordinates (and this is putting it mildly) the actions of the Ukrainian GRU and a number of other Ukrainian structures.
7. In June-July, deliveries of Western heavy MLRS to Ukraine began, after which they began to be used using NATO intelligence data, as well as data collected by the Ukrainian GRU. Blows were delivered, including on Yelenovka. The foregoing links to separate Russian language accounts of Ukrainian artillery attacks on Yelenovka and other areas in Donetsk and near Donetsk city:
June 7 https://ura.news/news/1052559619
June 10 https://regnum.ru/news/3616373.html
June 12https://tass.ru/mezhdunarodnaya-panorama/14892965
July 2 https://ria.ru/20220702/elenovka-1799805417.html
July 16 https://iz.ru/1365865/2022-07-17/ukrainskie- boeviki-obstreliali-elenovku-v-dnr-iz-artillerii
July 23 https://ria.ru/20220723/dnr-1804567273.html
And so on. Shelling was carried out almost regularly throughout June and July. Cannon artillery with a caliber of 122mm and 152mm, MLRS "Grad" (BM-21)
and "Uragan" (BM-27) were used. If you go to Rantburg archives about the breakaway republics on those dates, you can read about the artillery attacks on Donetsk city, though not about Yelenovka, which are covered by other Russian language media.
8. On July 29 (the day after the publication of the testimony of one of the captured Ukrainian nationalists about the involvement of Zelensky's entourage in issuing criminal orders to kill civilians), rockets from the recently delivered Western MLRS arrive very accurately at the same Yelenovka, which the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been shelling for several months. The Ukrainian GRU knows where the Ukrainian prisoners of war are.
Ukrainian GRU provides target designation for strikes and terrorist attacks. The Ukrainian GRU is in close contact with the Mi-6, while according to Nezygar, the Mi-6 was considering the option of using high-precision Western weapons to destroy Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Zelensky colony in early June, while the shelling of Yelenovka continued.
9. The threats of the Ukrainian nationalist fighters from "Azov" to find and punish the perpetrators of the "murder of brothers" ordinary white noise - if they are too outraged, the Ukrainian GRU will bury them somewhere in the forest, and then say that these are "peaceful victims of the Russian aggressor."
Therefore, they will make some noise and pretend that this is a "cynical Russian provocation", although, of course, they know perfectly well who killed their brothers..
10. Whether Budanov and the Ukrainian GRU acted only as the perpetrator of this terrorist act, or whether he was entrusted with organizing the elimination of uncomfortable witnesses who began to talk too much, remains to be seen.
Text of the June 5th Telegram post:
Mi 6 is considering three possible options for using the MLRS supplied for Ukraine. The delivery itself will take place on the night from Sunday to Monday, the cargo has already arrived at Rzeszow Airport. All the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be executed under the full control of the officers of the British Ministry of Defense, as was the case with the attack on the cruiser Moscow.
The first target is the Crimean Bridge, but this is the most unlikely operation, since the Crimea is closed by echeloned S 400 systems and a number of new air defense products, and there is the newest S 500 division
. .
The British want to frame the MLRS strike as an attempt by the Russian Armed Forces to hide "the execution and torture of prisoners, and then hype Buchi's temnik." The third target is Sevastopol, the center of the city or the base of the Black Sea Fleet is being discussed, but there is a risk of falling into the air defense coverage area on Zmeiny Island, since the range of the MLRS set now will be enough only when launched from the Odessa region.
Kyiv is not yet considering a missile attack on Kursk or Belgorod, since the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has an understanding that the cost of this attack will be the destruction of the government quarter.
Ukrainian military fired at the Yelenovskaya colony, where the prisoners "Azov" were kept
At night, HIMARS MLRS covered barracks where Ukrainian prisoners of war were kept. Since these MLRS are high-precision weapons, it can be unequivocally stated that they were the target of the strike.
In the message of the headquarters of the territorial defense of the DPR, according to the latest data in Yelenovka, in a colony for Ukrainian prisoners of war, 53 people have already died and another 75 Ukrainian prisoners of war were injured, - says in Telegram. In total, there were 193 Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Yelenovka colony.
They aim where there is no air defense or has too little coverage. In this case, it hardly occurred to anyone to cover the colony with Ukrainian prisoners of war. Zelensky, it seems, according to the villainy of Adolf, multiplied by Stepan, decided to outdo it. Stepan refers to Stepan Bandera, Ukrainian nationalists who fought on the side of the Germans in WWII.
A total of 53 deaths from 193 people are already 27.5% of the average number. With the wounded - 2/3. Moreover, the data on the dead and injured in the colony of Ukrainian prisoners of war are not yet final. The hyena devours itself. What else can be said here?
The logic is simple: as soon as the captured Azov people started talking about the criminal orders of the country's top leadership, they flew there. The Kyiv regime and its masters, in this case, are "working for the future."
After all, the testimonies during the investigation WILL ALWAYS BE FOLLOWED BY THE TRIBUNAL, at which these TESTIMONIES, IN THE MASS - HUNDREDS, OF THE DEFENDANTS, will be announced already OPENLY and PUBLICLY. Under the lenses and microphones of the world media ...
AND EXACTLY THIS, the Kiev riffraff, with all their might, seeks to avoid ... Unlikely. No one gives a fuck about Russia and its beefs with Ukraine and the west.
It seems that we have long known about the moral qualities of the leadership of the Ukrainian government, it seems that you won’t be surprised by anything and it seems like they broke the bottom a long time ago, but no .. And this bottom also turns out to be another dried layer of excrement ... Tough of course, they didn’t kill at the front, so sent their own to the next world. All in the spirit of Svidomo Ukrainians.
We are waiting for the Ukrainian military to start telling relatives they will say that it was the DPR people who "fired on themselves." Hymars.
[An Nahar] Prime Minister-designate and caretaker PM Najib Mikati on Friday said that he is seeking to “halt the collapse” of the country.
“We need to address a lot of social issues and to organize the living matters and salaries so that we launch the rescue process and revive Lebanon,” Mikati said during his sponsorship of the launch of a touristic campaign in Tripoli.
“The problems that we are facing are the result of long accumulations and we have grabbed the burning cinder with our hand for the sake of salvation,” the PM added.
“We assumed responsibility while the country was in a state of total bankruptcy, and what we’re doing today is transforming the country from bankruptcy into insolvency,” Mikati went on to say.
“We understand the current crises and we know what the current inflation has done at all levels, in addition to the political conflicts that are blocking a lot of solutions,” he said.

[Rusvesna] The Armed Forces of Ukraine tried to destroy the captured "Azov" by opening artillery fire on the barracks where they are kept.
This is reported by the correspondent of the VGTRK Andrey Rudenko.
"The Ukrainians fired on the Yelenovskaya penal colony: the target was the barracks where prisoners of war were kept. More than a hundred militants were wounded, many were killed," he writes in the author’s Telegram channel.
"Kyiv decided, apparently, to destroy the witnesses who began to speak," the correspondent concluded.
The JCCC of the DPR also confirms the information about the shelling, without giving figures on the wounded and dead yet.
First Deputy Minister of Information of the DPR Daniil Bezsonov reports the following figures: 40 dead, 130 wounded. According to him, now the rubble is being cleared and the numbers may increase.
Here is how the Russian military correspondent Alexander Kots commented on the shelling of the colony :
"It is interesting that the attack on the colony in Yelenovka, during which, according to preliminary data, 40 “prisoners of Azovstal” were killed, was carried out by Ukrainians against the backdrop of numerous interviews of captured “Azov” who appeared in different media in recent days."
The Azov militants talked a lot about their crimes against the civilian population, extrajudicial executions, torture ... And also about the fact that the country's top leadership was involved in terror against civilians.
Of course, the Hymars strike on their former “zahisniks” is both an attempt to shut their mouths forever and intimidate those who survived. Well, I don’t even doubt that the murder of captured militants will be hanged on Russia. Or have you already hung up? - the military correspondent writes in his Telegram channel. Yelenovskaya correctional colony No. 120 is located in the village of Yelenovka, 26 km from Donetsk, where captured Ukrainian neo-Nazis are kept.
[DONRF] The night, as always, passed in the shelling of Bili on the Southern Front, so our troops again inflicted fire damage on the enemy concentration in the Nikopol area, which, given the fact that the militants had chosen it as a stronghold and were turning it into a military base, it is better for civilians to leave the city.
Attacks were made on Kharkov and the Kirovograd region. The enemy fired on the outskirts of Chernigovka, struck at the border of the Bryansk region (oporniks) with at least ten shells, at the city of Ilovaisk in the DPR, and created:
At night, the Ukrainians allegedly hit the prison in Yelenovka with Hymers. Direct hit in the barrack with prisoners. The result as of now: 40 dead, 130 injured. While clearing debris. Numbers may increase
Quite a logical thing. Logical for Tamerlane, for Adolf, for Pol Pot, banned in the Russian Federation by ISIS and not yet banned by Ukraine .
Killing your own people is just not good for any state, but who said that the captured militants are their own for Kyiv? Let's remember the chronology. March 2014 2.5 million Crimeans became strangers. There were no attempts to work with consciousness, to introduce positive narratives, there were no programs of cooperation with the population. Aliens (hostile), period. April - 7 million Donetsk and Lugansk residents became strangers.
According to the same scheme. Part of the truth was recaptured and made conditionally our own, but they again turned into strangers in 2022. Every fifth inhabitant of pre-war Ukraine became an enemy based on the fact of their place of residence.
In 2022, the number of enemies began to grow. They were joined by all the inhabitants of the liberated territories. Automatic. Those who were beaten off (and not killed during the cleansing process) again became conditionally their own, having some kind of rights. Those who are not are separas. Against the background of dismembered millions, there are some hundred or two prisoners ... but how many benefits:
1. Others will not give up. Nationalist military will get you even in captivity. Yesterday, the fake about castrations did not go in, at night Himarsy. You won’t die in battle, vile Ukrainians, you will be killed by your own in captivity. See the story here posted yesterday, and a similar link in a comment by Chief Torturer Forkbeard the day before.
2. Judgment disrupted. More like slowed down. The most important in the Russian Federation, it is difficult to get them there ... if our elves do not exchange
3. The exchange fund has depreciated. They have few prisoners, we have many. Here he was leveled.
4. Wives got into the habit of going to them there, mothers give interviews, bark something, decompose the society of baboons from the inside, awakening the human in them. This is a mess. Now they won't bark. The Ukrainians has one right - to shut up and die for a nenka. Opens his mouth - he must be put to sleep. Everything is in Ukrainian, everything is like in any terrorist organization
5. They will blame the Russian Federation for everything. Don't go to a fortune teller. Yourself, period.
So ... I always said - we are at war with terrorists. The terrorists must be destroyed. That's why I scold the slow pace and gentleness. Leave at hand a neighbor who kills his own just so that they don’t open their mouths ... thank you.
P.S. Prisoners in Yelenovka are mostly from Mariupol. Those people who, believing that they are superior human beings , and the locals are Inferior human beings, destroyed a beautiful city.
But fascism is such a thing...today you, tomorrow you. They were punished by their own, saving money and time for the court to us. They were punished for being alive. So the Ukrainians - go to serve in the Ukrainian nationalist military.
Lying your carcass in the refrigerator for a month is guaranteed ... if they don’t immediately dig in quietly. And in captivity - you will be disposed of by your own. But they will give a penny and a uniform from the American shoulder. Well, they will be killed in captivity not by the "soviet" Hurricane, but by the American Himars. The refrigerator reference is about the refrigerators found in Azovstahl with dead bodies

The main thing is they're dead. Well, at least a few of them. There's no point in taking prisoners anymore anyway. Nobody's going to believe the Russian narrative.

"The Azov militants talked a lot about their crimes against the civilian population, extrajudicial executions, torture ... And also about the fact that the country's top leadership was involved in terror against civilians."
They were GENTLY encouraged to get it all off their chests.

Yes there are. Just like we have zombies here who believe anything the Commies and their media puppets put out (regardless of reality looking them right in the face).

Isn't this the ultimate he-said/she-said? Both sides have means, motive, and opportunity. Nation states are ruthless and as badanov said earlier in the conflict, neither party is on the side of the angels.
Both sides claim to have evidence. The Ukrainian state security service has recorded intercepts of the Russians plotting the crime - something you could fake in 5 minutes. The Russians have photographs of HIMARS parts amongst the wreckage - pix that could have been taken at a number of existing sites. (Hey, remember that HIMARS system the Rus allegedly bought?) Sadly, we live in an age when 'evidence' is no longer evidence.
One anomalous data point is that the US Pentagon said the Ukrainians did not mean to do it.
The Taliban certainly aren’t keeping Allah’s order, but it could be the Afghan version of yobs venting spleen instead of a proper jihadi group like ISIS.
[ToloNews] Kabul Police Command confirmed that a kaboom occurred in the Kabul International Cricket Stadium during the Shpagize competition on Friday.
Khaled Zadran, front man of Kabul Police Command, said the incident occurred when a grenade was thrown between viewers and many were maimed.
Officials of Afghanistan's cricket board said that at least four people were maimed in the incident.
Security officials have not revealed the exact number of the people affected in the incident.
[ET via ZERO] Former President Donald Trump has warned that America’s economy is on track for a bigger disaster than a recession, with his remarks coming shortly before government statistics showed GDP printing negative for the second consecutive quarter, which is a rule-of-thumb definition for a recession.
"Where we’re going now could be a very bad place," Trump said at a rally in Arizona last week.
"We got to get this act in order, we have to get this country going, or we’re going to have a serious problem."
The former president singled out the collapse in Americans’ real wages, a historically depressed labor force participation rate, and the Democrat push for the Green New Deal that he said would crush economic growth.
"Not recession. Recession’s a nice word. We’re going to have a much bigger problem than recession. We’ll have a depression," the former president said.
Trump’s remarks came several days before the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) released data showing that real U.S. GDP fell by an annualized 0.9 percent in the second quarter after contracting 1.6 percent in the first quarter.
Two consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth are a common rule-of-thumb definition for a recession, although recessions in the United States are officially declared by a committee of economists at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) using a broader definition than the two-quarter rule.
#2
^^^ I tend to agree with the above comment, except the timeline is short, try 6 to 8 years, at a depth, of -19% GDP from baseline 2018, which will make the Great Depression look like a 12-year Recession. Hence the "something worse" Mr. Trump is alluding toward in his comment.
#3
Probably not. As I read the financial press, most people expect the Fed to wimp out sometime late this year or early next year.
Which, of course, a la 1975, will just feed a yet more vicious round of inflation which will eventually require a repeat of the horrific 1979-82 recession to cure it.

[DW] The migrants colonists come from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador and were turned over to authorities. The incident comes after more than 50 migrants colonists were found dead in a semi-trailer in Texas last month.
Almost 100 migrants colonists were left abandoned in a freight trailer on a highway in Mexico and had to break their way out to escape suffocation, Mexican authorities said Thursday.
The 94 undocumented foreigners, including several children, from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador were turned over to immigration authorities, according to Mexican officials. Around 100 more were believed to have fled.
The migrants colonists were bound for the US border and were discovered on Wednesday night on a highway in the eastern state of Veracruz.
"They indicated that they were abandoned by the driver," a police report said.
LOCALS HELP BREAK OPEN CONTAINER
The abandoned migrants colonists had to break holes in the freight container to get out, according to Carlos Enrique Escalante, the head of the state migrant attention office.
Some of them sustained injuries when they had to jump off the roof of the trailer. The injuries were not considered life-threatening. About a dozen people were reportedly taken to hospital due to bruises and symptoms of asphyxiation.
Residents near the town of Acayucan helped break open the freight container, Escalante said.
Moslem colonists Migrants die or disappear en route to US
People smugglers in Mexico often use overcrowded trucks to illegally transport migrants colonists across the border.
In June, more than 50 migrants colonists, including 22 from Mexico, died after they were abandoned in the sweltering heat in a semi-trailer in San Antonio, Texas.
In a statement, the White House had called the immigrant deaths "absolutely horrific and heartbreaking."
Around 6,430 migrants colonists have died or disappeared on their way to the US since 2014, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
[NYPOST] Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-Calif.) did not hide her feelings toward her Republican colleagues during Thursday night’s Congressional Baseball Game, giving the GOP dugout the middle finger after she was pulled for a pinch-runner.
The Republican team was leading 5-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Sanchez drew a leadoff walk. As she hustled back to the Democratic dugout on the third-base line at Nationals Park, the politician turned her head toward the GOP bench on the first-base side, then raised her left hand and made the offensive gesture without breaking stride.
It’s unclear if something was said to Sanchez that prompted her to flip Republicans the bird. Her office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
FWIW, this happened several times while I was in - at two of my bases, I worked Inspection, which meant that when the word came down part of my job was to check every single cart. Depending on the situation, we looked for physical damage/defects, or certain lot/manufacturing/date of manufacture numbers.
This sort of thing is not unknown, and grounding an entire fleet is a prudent, if awkward and complicated response. The trouble is that you usually find out about a problem when something goes horribly wrong. For instance, in the early 80s Thunderbird Lead took off from Cleveland after an airshow, and ingested a seagull. He ejected, but the separation cart failed to fire and he ended up riding the seat back down.

Likely not in the calculation. Egress training sort of simulates landing at 20mph with out an additional? 400# weight added on. If canopy doesn't rip apart, still landing on unpadded chunk of steel on your seat and whatever that apparatus does on landing. I recall there is a manual release of you have time. Mike might know more about that. I'll surely ask next training
[AmericanThinker] By all accounts - by every economic indicator, every political poll, every overseas interaction, every lie at the presidential podium -- Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. I'm not working for you. Don't be such a horse's ass. Don't say he didn't warn us... is a miserable failure as president. Inflation brought on by government spending has now tipped the economy into recession and there is no end in sight. The border lies open, with the Border Patrol converted into a de facto valet and escort service for literally millions of unvetted illegal border crossers. Crime is out of control. America is a laughingstock abroad, with Biden's name on the most humiliating military pullout in U.S. history.
He's a man utterly unfit for the office, a man whose very placement in office demonstrates the horrific consequences of electoral fraud.
Even the New York Times
... which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize... has come to much of this sorry conclusion, as has the Washington Post, and to an increasing extent, CNN ...the organization formerly known as the Cable News Network. Now who knows what it might stand for... and the other networks, as well as their deep-state allies. A slew of negative stories are now out on the failures and shocking corruption of Biden, as Democrats plot to remove the millstone-round-their-necks from office.
Victor Davis Hanson observed it best:
Now, that liability, that asset, Joe Biden, is a liability, and he's so low in the polls that they're going to blame him for their own progressive message, failing to attract voters. So all of a sudden out of this administrative state and the FBI ...Formerly one of the world's premier criminal investigation organizations, something for a nation to be proud of. Now it's a political arm of the Deep State oligarchy that is willing to trump up charges, suppress evidence, or take out insurance policies come election time... , the DOJ, maybe even the White House, people are starting to leak
But then there's that one lone holdout in the mainstream press, still reliving that glory moment of Joe's ascent to the presidency, still telling us there's a rainbow round the corner ... with leprachaun Joe standing at the pot of gold at the end of it.
That clown's outfit is Politico, a usually better than average source of news otherwise. It's the lone holdout, the dead-ender still resolutely insisting that Joe Biden in the White House will somehow usher in a worker's paradise and prosperity is around the corner. It's amazing how they cling to their man.
Their latest is here:
Somehow, someway, Joe Biden is back in the game.
After enduring a brutal year dominated by economic angst, legislative setbacks and sinking approval ratings, the president is suddenly on the verge of a turnaround that, the White House believes, could salvage his summer — and alter the trajectory of his presidency.
All he needs to do now is close.
Hear that? We are at the cusp, always the cusp, of a Joe Biden renaissance, just one more move to be had before unicorns and flowers will bloom.
As RedState noted, it's not even factual wishful thinking:
Besides, what evidence is there that Biden is "back in the game?" One look at the polling averages tells a far different story. The president currently enjoys a 38.2 percent approval rating in the aggregate according to RealClearPolitics. He’s only topped 40 percent in a single poll over the last week.
Don't think it's not a pattern with these guys -- it is a pattern. The same day, one of Politico's Biden fanboys, a big one, co-founder John F. Harris, put out this:
Wait, is Biden a better president than people thought? Many progressives have spent the Biden years in a mood of rising despair and even rage about the prospects for achieving the kind of fundamental change they believe the country and world urgently need. They wish Joe Manchin ...Dem senator-for-life from West Virginia. Manchin is one of the approximately one (okay, two) Dem senators who exhibits more integrity than Jello, often even representing his constituents... was a different kind of senator. They wish the Democrats were a different kind of party.
Above all, they wish Joe Biden was a different kind of president — or that a different leader altogether was in his job.
Suddenly, the mood is looking up. Manchin’s surprise decision to back $370 billion in tax credits to stimulate clean-energy technologies and other progressive environmental priorities came after many Democrats had concluded hope was pointless. Assuming the deal survives further legislative maneuvering in coming days — not a forgone conclusion — it invites a reappraisal of Biden’s leadership. Maybe that isn’t hopeless, either?
Following a pattern with long roots in his career, Biden is looking a little like the student who is failing his class for most of the semester, then pulls an all-nighter and slips the paper under the professor’s door at 6 a.m. It turns out the paper is actually pretty good.
Still shilling, still plugging for Ol' Plugs, despite the obvious failures, and despite the abandonment of the rest of the press of the idea of Joe Biden's genius.
All of that spells failure, no matter what the odd political victory that falls into his lap may signify. The huge new federal spending being touted by Politico, Biden and the Democrats is certain to stoke inflation, making it ever more hellish for Americans, and bringing the country closer to the 'you will own nothing and be happy' of the global resetters. Frighteningly enough, Joe doesn't know what causes inflation, which is government spending and a pliant monetary policy, remaining firmly convinced that he can print his way out of any problem.
That's what's pulling Biden's popularity down, along with the continuous failure of results. To confuse that with a slew of new spending his congressional allies manage to get through Congress is pinning the tail on the wrong donkey.
Politico, though, just can't quit him.

[Breitbart] On Friday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s "America Reports," House Foreign Affairs Committee Ranking Member Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX) argued that as long as President Joe Biden is in office and China sees "the weakness projected" by Biden, "that is their timetable" for an invasion of Taiwan, "just like Putin invading Ukraine." McCaul also stated that while China would like to take Taiwan without military conflict, "plan B is a military invasion and it’s going to happen under President Biden’s watch." And that China has studied Russia’s invasion of Ukraine "very closely."
McCaul said, [relevant remarks begin around 3:55] "[I]f you look at the map, they are circling the island right now. They’re being very military provocative. I think as long as Biden is in office and they see the weakness projected, that that is their timetable to invade, just like Putin invading Ukraine. And they’re looking at Ukraine very closely. Would they prefer to do it like Hong Kong without a shot fired or the Solomon Islands? Of course, right. Or maybe...they want to do it by overthrowing an election or by disinformation. But plan B is a military invasion and it’s going to happen under President Biden’s watch."

Biggest weakness is their transport capability. They can only drop 30,000 men with no armor or supplies at a time. With both of the above, maybe 2,500 with 500 tanks. Against a country with 2 million armed and called up reserves.
This will need to be a D-Day type of invasion. There is 100 miles of water to cover and unlike the Europe invasion there are only two good months to invade. May and October. Otherwise they typhoons, rough seas, monsoons, fog, etc. make a military crossing under fire difficult to say the least.
The Chinese need to drop a quarter of a million men with thousands of tanks, IFVs and supplies in 30 days to make it work with any major chance of success. Not a chance in hell with what they have now.
#2
And the Chinese have Sleepy Joe by the short hairs. Surely they have lots of juicy--if not salacious--information. Surely Joe, Hunter, et al., would not want any more info "leaked" (not that we need any more, but still).
#5
There will be no invasion. Biden, no... the US presidency and policy right now is such an unstable quantity, China's not doing anything except sitting and waiting.
Sorties and ships cruising around, posturing in the media, all that yes but no invasion. At least I don't think so.
#6
And any defence of Taiwan may not be up to just Biden. The entire world secretly wants to chomp on China's ass after it destroyed their economies, dramatics at the UN be damned. They know it too.
After the helplessness felt by the west at seeing Vlad rain fire in Ukraine unchecked, everyone will watch these dwarves make a fool of themselves trying to intimidate Taiwan. The moment their bluff is called and you know their worth, everyone will join in. Like a prison shanking.

Agree with DV and Dron. The Chinese would be at great risk of being humiliated, losing face if you will, if they attempted an invasion because of the logistics and the determination of the Taiwanese to resist.
My theory, and I could be wrong, is the Chinese are rattling their saber to give The Big Guy a chance to look like a tough guy by making them back down. I feel like I'm getting a whiff of kabuki designed to make the weakest US president ever look presidential. But, if my theory is correct, Joe has already committed to giving the Chinese something big in return.

We fight them man to man almost every week. We know what the chinks are capable of and what plays they don't have the balls for. What's more, we know their dependence on simulations to predict outcomes. And while the results of a Taiwan simulation were mostly successful, those were carried out before Ukraine. That in itself is a difference they are overlooking. The Chinese believe the whole Ukraine thing exhibits a general flaccidity in the west's force projection. And that may encourage them to a folly their future generations will regret.
A shanking, I repeat. While the globalists can't do jack about Vlad, the Chinese are one target they won't blink before going to town on. Propaganda, sanctions, a Tajik Taliban presence in Xinjiang, liberating islamics, multiple navies harassing Chink vessels... who will they nuke? And when? No, they'd just get raped.
Pelosi can go to Taiwan, she can squat and pee in the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial. Let China huff and puff. As long as the bitch doesn't say something which acknowledges the sovereignty of the PRC...!
Oh... why'd we not think of that? Shit. Because that'd be true Democrat bull in China shop stuff, no pun.
#18
I think the bluff about shooting down Pelosi's plane was a Bridge Too Far. It provoked a more unified and aggressive posture than perhaps intended. Still, all the resources and military assets that will be pushed forward with a view to look aggressive have the inherent potential to spark something unintended. The upwards escalation cascade is always a risk in military kabuki play acting.

As much as I admire the might of the Ronald Reagan, it will need backup. 3 Carrier battle Groups for starters, will be impressive enough to cause the Chicoms to 2nd guess themselves! Shore up Guam, loiter a few B2s and be prepared to meet the 100 fighters Beijing will try to swarm The Speaker's plane with. My gut tells me she will back down if a bipartisan representation of the Congress do not accompany her.

[REGNUM] Vladimir Khandorin. Admiral Kolchak: Drama of the Supreme Ruler. Moscow: AFK Sistema; Political Encyclopedia, 2022.
This publication is not a classic biography of Alexander Kolchak (1874–1920).
The author of the book, Moscow historian Vladimir Khandorin, focuses primarily on the period of the Civil War, "this book is both about a man and about the movement that he personified."
Therefore, the researcher only briefly touches on the studies of his hero, his activities as part of polar expeditions (for his work on the ice of the Kara and Siberian seas, the scientist was awarded the Konstantinovsky gold medal highly valued in academic circles and was elected a full member of the Russian Geographical Society), as well as participation in the Russian -Japanese and World War I (in April 1916 he was promoted to rear admiral, and three months later - to vice admiral and appointed commander of the Black Sea Fleet).
Reflecting on the role of Kolchak in the Civil War, Khandorin criticizes in detail the myths and false stereotypes that have been established since the Soviet era. For example, the researcher refutes the alleged absolute loyalty of the admiral to the governments of the Entente countries.
Among other things, he cites Kolchak's harsh response to the "proposal" of the allies to take the gold reserve under protection: "it is better for the Bolsheviks to get this gold than to be taken away from Russia." According to his contemporaries, the Supreme Ruler "in dealings with foreigners always followed the line of greatest resistance."
The monograph also devotes a lot of space to the admiral's everyday culture. The supreme ruler was quite unpretentious in everyday life and, moreover, did not consider it possible to spend public funds on himself.
Here is what he wrote to his wife Sophia: “I live in the same room and do not make any receptions, and you write about some social life and ask if you need to make receptions. Our homeland is ruined and impoverished, and I don't have much money." After all, the politician continued in another letter:
"I look at my position as a service position, as the same as commanding a ship, division or fleet. I serve my Motherland without pursuing any personal goals, and I will leave at the first opportunity, when I can transfer power to hands that can do a better job than I ... Having unlimited power, I have nothing ... and I do not consider it possible to take from the ruined and more poor country than is necessary for the simplest life."
The scientist supports his statements with references to various archival collections (the State Archives of the Russian Federation, the Center for the Storage of Documents of the Recent History of the Omsk Region, etc.), including documents from the Parisian family archive of S. F. Kolchak, which were purchased at the end of 2019 by the State Archives of the Russian Federation and the House of Russian Diaspora.
So conscientious critics of Khandorin's monograph, before objecting to the researcher or refuting him, will have to work hard in the archives. Will they just make it?

not much of a surprise to any rantburg readers; what is amusing is that Amnesty Intl is able to, with a straight face, do a substantial piece without using the word "Islam" or "Sharia"
[NOWTHISNEWS] Amnesty said the Taliban have also decimated protections for those facing domestic violence, detained women and girls for minor violations and contributed to a surge in child marriages. The report also documented the torture and abuse of women arrested by the Taliban for protesting against restrictions.
"Taken together, these policies form a system of repression that discriminates against women and girls in almost every aspect of their lives," the report said. "This suffocating crackdown against Afghanistan’s female population is increasing day by day."

So what can we do? Amnesty should have dialogue with the Taliban directly about it. Why does every bit of Amnesty's work have to conclude in drumming up a 'global response' to everything out there?
How is the civilized world responsible for what goes on in islamic societies?

AI was just another useful idiot working to take down Trump rather than address their reason to exist. You'll never hear them say - we were wrong, very wrong.

The best explanation I have ever heard was from Kevin McCarthy, presumptive next Speaker of the House. For math challenged fellow citizens its ideal:
Imagine what you would do if you were told that you had to give up a full month's salary.
Inflation is currently at 9.1 percent, and a month's salary is 8.33 percent of your annual income, so you are losing more than a months income in increased prices.
Even the victims of our woke educational system will understand.

[Garowe] A regional minister and his son were among several people killed in the latest al-Shabaab ...... al-Qaeda's tentacle in East Africa... attack in southern Somalia, authorities confirmed, in yet another incident that badly exposes security flaws in the Horn of Africa nation which is struggling with instability.
Hassan Ibrahim Lugbur, the Justice minister in Southwest killed by a kaboom that took place in Baidoa town, the interim administrative capital of the regional state, which is about 245 kilometers West of Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia.
Somali PM Hamza Abdi Barre slammed the attack and sent condolences to Southwest State and its people on the loss of the minister. At least 11 others, including a second son of the minister were maimed in the attack.
According to reports, the minister was targeted by a bomber just moments after he left a mosque where he performed Friday prayers. The al-Shabaab Death Eaters have already taken responsibility for the attack, which comes a few hours after twin explosions in Marka and Afgoye towns.
The two explosions left at least 20 people dead, including Marka mayor Abdullahi Wafow with the US and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire... pledging to support the country in the fight against the krazed killers. The al-Shabaab usually targets senior government officials, security forces, and innocent civilians.
It was not immediately clear why the Death Eaters targeted the minister but usually, they attack government officials who are perceived to be against the krazed killers. The group is dominant in rural central and southern Somalia and has been fighting to topple the UN-backed fragile government.
On Friday, the al-Shabaab Death Eaters attacked also Aato town near the border of Æthiopia and Somalia. Both sides claim to inflict heavy losses on the other. al-Shabaab holy man Fuad Shongole was in the area this week but it's unclear if he participated in the attack.
[IsraelTimes] In rare event, 12 year old with PTSD from conflict permitted to visit with dad, meet Israelis; ’Unfortunately there are children in Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... who think monsters live in Israel,’ he says
Facing repeated wars and neverending military conflict, a 12-year-old Gaza Strip resident developed post-traumatic stress disorder, her parents say. The girl’s condition worsened to the point where she feared day-to-day activities and always sought to remain physically close to her parents.
Recently the girl, whose name remains withheld and who is identified here only by the first letter of her name in Hebrew, "Gimel," received rare permission to visit Israel with her father in what has been dubbed a "resilience visit."
Gimel was granted permission to enter by the Coordination and Liaison Headquarters at the Erez Crossing between Gaza and Israel in a process facilitated by the Ynet and Yedioth Ahronoth media outlets (Hebrew link).
"Her fears ruled her," Gimel’s father, who regularly crosses into Israel to work, told Ynet.
"Every time I go into Israel she fears something will happen to me," he said. "I tell her again and again there’s nothing to worry about, that I go to Israel to earn a living for us."
He hoped that seeing Israel and meeting Israelis might help to quell her fears.
"Unfortunately, there are children in Gaza who think that there are monsters living in Israel who only want to kill Arabs," he added.
Once out of Gaza, the report said, Gimel hardly put down her phone’s camera. "What a beautiful view," she told her father. "I like the green fields."
Gimel visited several towns across Israel, including Jerusalem, Jaffa, Ashkelon and Tel Aviv. She met with other children from Kibbutz Nir Am, an Israeli community near the Strip where she and her father stayed throughout their four-day visit.
Despite the language barrier, Gimel and Shoham, a 12-year-old resident of the kibbutz, managed to communicate using translation apps on their phones and spoke about topics ranging from social media and music to school and summer break.
Shoham noted that she was surprised, and concerned, to hear that Gimel did not have a bomb shelter in her home the way she did.
The two exchanged Instagram accounts at the end of their meeting. Shoham, who had sprained her leg before the meeting, had a difficult time walking out.
"Lean on me, I’ll take you," Gimel told her and they hopped outside.
"I wish you’d come again and we have more time together," Shoham said.
Gimel and her father also held a larger meeting with children from Nir Am.
"I live in Gaza, who’s afraid of me?" Gimel’s father asked at the start, a question to which all of the children in attendance raised their hands. After a question-and-answer session, Gimel’s father again asked the children if they were afraid of him. This time, none of them said yes.
Gimel also visited a petting zoo run by the Hossen ("Resilience") Center in the Gaza-adjacent town of Sderot. Over the years Sderot has been one of the towns most affected by rocket attacks from Lions of Islam in the Strip. The treatment center uses various means, including animal care, to help people deal with psychological trauma.
Gimel was accompanied there by Ibrahim al-Etauna, director of the Bedouin Resilience Center in the Negev.
"I got the impression that now she understands that reality is not black and white, but the thought of war still scares her. In any case, she said that now she will be less worried when her father goes to work in Israel," he told Ynet of a private conversation he and Gimel had after the visit.
At the end of the visit, Gimel noted that she wished she could stay longer.
"We want to live like good neighbors, with love and cooperation," Gimel’s father said at the end of the visit. "I hope that one day everything will be over and the children of Gaza and Israel will be able to live as good neighbors. If it was up to [the children], there would already be peace and everything would be fine. I hope my daughter can visit Israel again."
As for Gimel, her fears amid conflict certainly won’t evaporate, but her views have unquestionably changed.
"I thought that in Israel everyone wore military uniforms and held guns, but the Jews were really nice," she said.
Kindly note that several entries in this article were removed because they included discussions of the grand strategic level. 21:55 The tanks that North Macedonia handed over to Ukraine turned out to be Ukrainian. North Macedonia transferred T-72 tanks to Ukraine, which were delivered to Ukraine in 2001 from Ukraine. This follows from a message published by the Ukrainian media almost 21 years ago. Then the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Anatoly Zlenko said that "31 tanks were sent to Macedonia, according to the contract." This is the number of T-72 tanks since then that the army of North Macedonia has had. 21:55 Today, at about 15:00, after artillery preparation by up to 40 infantry with the support of three infantry fighting vehicles, the enemy tried to attack the positions of the RF Armed Forces units southeast of NOVOPOL, Donetsk region. 19:55 The Ukrainian Air Force is preparing a bloody provocation. Planes and helicopters of the Ukrainian Air Force at the Vasilkov air base near Kyiv were repainted to match the standard painting of the Aerospace Forces. This was done, of course, with provocative goals. Most likely, these planes will portray a "strike by Russian aviation" on civilian targets with a large number of victims. A sort of "Bucha from the air." Thus, Kyiv will try to regain the interest of the West, unfreeze financial injections and increase the supply of weapons.

“Do you still support Ukrainians?
Maybe for starters, you can clarify whether any of your relatives or relatives were killed by OUN-UPA or SS Galicia bandits during the Warsaw Uprising.
Today's Kyiv authorities raised the hero Stepan Bandera to the pedestal - the bandit responsible for the "Volyn massacre" in 1943, during which 250,000 Poles were brutally tortured and killed in Kresy. The claims of Ukrainians to our eastern lands of Subcarpathia continue. Do not succumb to the manipulation of the media, which talk about the friendship and affection of the Polish-Ukrainian. [Rudaw] A Ottoman Turkish soldier fighting a Kurdish gang in the Kurdistan Region was killed, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire... ’s defense ministry said on Thursday amid its ongoing military operation in the Region’s mountains.
The soldier was killed in Turkey’s Claw-Lock operation in Duhok province where fighting between members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and Ottoman Turkish forces continues, announced the ministry. Turkey has set up dozens of outposts inside Iraqi territory.
People's Defense Forces (HPG), the armed wing of the PKK, claimed on Thursday that 17 of Ankara’s soldiers were "punished," and four others were maimed.
Operation Claw-Lock was launched on April 18 aimed at targeting PKK hideouts in the mountains areas of Metina, Zap, Avashin, and Basyan in Duhok province.
The number of Ottoman Turkish soldiers killed in Ankara’s latest operation has risen to 40, according to numbers published by the defense ministry.
However, there's more than one way to skin a cat... the HPG earlier this month alleged that 1,582 Ottoman Turkish soldiers were "punished," and 217 others were maimed from April 14 to July 14.

In turn, representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross filed a request for access to the shelled colony in Yelenovka, where Ukrainian prisoners of war died.
ICRC representative Alexander Vlasenko noted that relatives of prisoners of war who were in the colony would be able to contact the hotline set up in Geneva to find out the fate of a particular person.
As Vesti.ua reported, the authorities of the self-proclaimed "DPR" this morning announced the shelling of a colony in the uncontrolled Yelenovka, Donetsk region , where Ukrainian prisoners are kept. 53 people died.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the explosions in Yelenovka, which resulted in the death of Ukrainian defenders, are a deliberate provocation and an unconditional act of terrorism on the part of the Russian invaders. 23:25 The United States "very soon" will announce a new package of military assistance to Ukraine, said John Kirby, coordinator of the National Security Council for strategic communications. Head of the SBU Vasily Malyuk and Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets: “We discussed in detail the terrorist attack organized by Russian monsters in Yelenovka, as a result of which more than 50 captured Ukrainian defenders were cynically killed. There is plenty of evidence that this was a planned crime. And this is yet another confirmation that Russia is a terrorist state. The UN and the ICRC, which were supposed to guarantee the preservation of the life and health of our prisoners of war, must respond immediately."
20:47 Representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross Alexander Vlasenko said that the organization will try to get to the shelled colony in Yelenovka: "Of course, we are aware of this situation and asked for access to this place as soon as possible in order to make sure and see with our own eyes what happened and whether any of the people there need our help."

20:11 The Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense and the Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights published a joint statement regarding the massacre of Ukrainian prisoners of war in Yelenovka. The law enforcement agencies and the Ombudsman remind that the key condition for the exit of the Ukrainian military from Azovstal was the obligation of the Russian side to international organizations to save the life and health of Ukrainian defenders. This guarantee has been cynically violated.
The agencies demand that the UN and the ICRC, acting as guarantors of the life and health of Ukrainian prisoners of war, immediately respond to the terrorist act committed by the Russian Federation and urgently send their representatives, as well as the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada and representatives of the Joint Center for Search and Release of Prisoners to the territory of the colony in the town of Yelenovka for the purposes of the inspection mission.

17:55 The Russians are moving captured foreigners who fought for Ukraine from all territories to the Donbass for subsequent execution, said the speaker of the International Legion Damien Magru in an interview with Channel 24: "There is a theory that they are doing this so that they could be given the death penalty. And this is very worrying - that the military is being transported against their will to another region. But this is a war crime. We see that Russia does not treat our foreign prisoners of war well, and this was reported at the beginning of the war. But this position of Russia in relation to foreign fighters is illegal."
Magru noted that in this regard, there are now problems with establishing the whereabouts of captured foreign soldiers.
17:42 Explosions in Yelenovka took place on the territory of the industrial zone in a new room, which was supposed to be specially equipped for keeping prisoners taken out of Azovstal. The equipment of the building was completed two days ago, after which some of the detained Ukrainian defenders were transferred to it, according to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry. Ukrainian military intelligence emphasizes that the explosions in Yelenovka are a deliberate provocation and an unconditional act of terrorism. According to available information, it was carried out by the hands of mercenaries from the PMC Wagner on the personal command of its nominal owner Yevgeny Prigozhin. The organization and commission of the terrorist act were not coordinated with the leadership of the RF Ministry of Defense.
According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the main purpose of the terrorist attack was to conceal the facts of the total embezzlement of funds allocated for the maintenance of Ukrainian prisoners of war. It is known that on August 1, a commission from Moscow was supposed to arrive at the "object" to check the expenditures of the allocated funds and the conditions of detention of prisoners. 17:09 The SBU intercepted telephone conversations in which the invaders confirm that it is the Russian troops who are to blame for the tragedy in Yelenovka. Moreover, there are several such audio intercepts at the disposal of the SBU. Moreover, judging by the videos available on the network, windows in some rooms of the colony have completely survived. This indicates that the epicenter of the explosion was inside the destroyed building , and its walls "extinguished" the blast waves and "saved" the neighboring premises. Also, a preliminary analysis of the video shows that such traces of the explosion on the walls, most likely, could have been left precisely because of the "internal source" of the explosion, the SBU said.

This new level of integration further undermines the longstanding policy of the Russian authorities to deny ties between PMCs and the Russian state. [Insider] Hunter Biden struggled to pay his taxes and bills in 2018 and 2019, emails reviewed by CNN revealed as federal prosecutors investigate President Joe Biden's son for possible tax violations and other crimes.
The CNN report references a 2018 email from Hunter Biden's assistant, asking what to do about paying health insurance, a Porsche payment, and her own salary.
"Pay the health care. Pay the Porsche," Biden responded, and he told her she should pay herself half of the salary she said she was owed, according to CNN.
An automated Wells Fargo "insufficient funds" email from December 2018 stated that one of his accounts lacked $1,700 for his Porsche payment.
In March 2019, his assistant pleaded with him to let her know if there was a new plan for paying about $370,000 in taxes and $120,000 in other bank debt, CNN reported.
The emails include several from his accountant, telling Biden that his tax payments were late.
Biden's lawyer told CNN that he has fully paid his IRS tax debts and that Biden struggled during that period with alcohol and drug addiction — something Biden wrote about extensively in his memoir, "Beautiful Things."
With all the corrupt money Hunter has gotten (Burisma, China, etc., etc.), he really cannot pay his bills? Where on earth did all the money go (and I'm beting we haven't seen the half of it yet)? Just how much can you spend on hookers and cocaine?

See this is why Donks can never be let near the public treasury. They treat the treasury like they treat their own income stream. No matter how much they take in, its never enough to cover their 'life style'.

Yes and no. There is a list of people who have unlimited credit because of their connections. The Banks know, one way or another, the tab will be paid. They also know if they rattle too much, they get "investigated". Its a win-win for those involved.
[Epoch Times] About a dozen workers at the NorthShore University HealthSystem in Illinois [north suburbs of Chicago] lodged the suit in October 2021, arguing that the facility was illegally not granting religious exemptions to the mandate. Workers who sued are slated to receive $10 million, according to a settlement agreement filed on July 29.
After eight months of negotiations, the workers and NorthShore "have agreed to settle this case," according to a memorandum filed in federal court. Wonder what the legal fee were, and who pays? Answers at the link - 20% of the settlement, for the plaintiffs.
Under the settlement’s terms, NorthShore will pay $10,337,500 into a settlement fund for workers affected by its mandate—specifically, workers who between July 1, 2021, and Jan. 1, 2022, asked for a religious accommodation and were denied and either received a vaccine to avoid termination or were fired or resigned. About 473 workers fit under that category.
NorthShore will also adjust its vaccine mandate "to enhance its accommodation procedures for individuals with approved exemptions for sincerely held religious belief." But they are keeping the mandate for the rest - a vaccine for a disease that's been obsolete for two years.
U.S. District Judge John Kness, the Trump appointee overseeing the case, was asked to approve the proposed settlement.
Liberty Counsel, the legal group representing the platiniffs, described the settlement as a first-of-its-kind for an action against a private employer who denied hundreds of requests for religious exemptions to a COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
"The drastic policy change and substantial monetary relief required by the settlement will bring a strong measure of justice to NorthShore’s employees who were callously forced to choose between their conscience and their jobs," Horatio Mihet, vice president of legal affairs at the group, said in a statement.
"This settlement should also serve as a strong warning to employers across the nation that they cannot refuse to accommodate those with sincere religious objections to forced vaccination mandates," he added.

[LB] Russian terrorist attack in Yelenovka, repulsed enemy assaults, shelling of Mykolaiv, moratorium on tariff increases. How will the 156th day of the full-scale war be remembered.
Today brought a lot of news, but one of them once again shook all of Ukraine. As a result of a Russian attack on the territory of correctional colony No. 120 in the temporarily captured village of Yelenovka, Volnova district, Donetsk region, about forty people were killed, and about 130 were injured.
Prosecutors of the General Prosecutor's Office have started a pre-trial investigation on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, on July 29, 2022, Russia struck the territory of correctional colony No. 120 in the temporarily captured village of Yelenovka. The OGP clarified that about 40 people died and 130 were injured as a result.
The law enforcement officers established that in this colony the invaders organized a place of detention, where civilians and prisoners of war of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are illegally detained. A pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
The Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and the Human Rights Commissioner demand that the UN and the Red Cross respond to the terrorist attack by the Russians in Yelenovka.
As a result of the terrorist attack, dozens of Ukrainian prisoners of war were killed, according to the joint statement.
The signatories of the statement emphasize that the explosion is a cynical terrorist act of the Russian Federation, a military provocation and a classic false flag operation, the purpose of which is to cover up war crimes, discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine, disrupt the supply of Western weapons and increase social tension in Ukrainian society.
Meanwhile, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled the assaults of the occupiers in the Avdievka, Kamianka, Krasnohorivka, and Peski districts.
The Russians advanced in the areas of Soledar, Vershyn and Semihirya, but suffered losses and retreated.
The enemy shelled civilian and military infrastructure in the areas of Ivanivka, Tokarevo, Karierny, Osokorivka, Blagodatny, Kobzartsi and more than thirty other settlements.
Russia hit Nikolaev with cluster shells. Five people died.
The attack took place near a public transport stop.
We will remind, on the evening of July 28, the mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkovych, announced that the Russian invaders had hit the private sector of the city. The point of delivery of humanitarian aid was also hit. In the morning , the Russian army shelled the school, kindergartens and residential buildings of the regional center. The rocket also hit the water station of the Shipbuilding University.
In the Kherson region, the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed one of the important logistical nodes of the occupier - the railway station in Brylivka.
"One of the important logistical hubs of the occupier was destroyed in the region - the railway station in Brylivka. The Russians just brought equipment and ammunition there - everything burned down. They didn't even have time to unload some," Serhiy Khlan, deputy of the Kherson Regional Council, reported on Facebook.
The Council prohibited raising tariffs for the population during the period of martial law and post-war reconstruction.
It is forbidden to raise tariffs for all categories of consumers for: natural gas distribution services, thermal energy (its production, transportation and supply), thermal energy supply services and hot water supply.
The moratorium on price increases was established at the expense of attracting 125 billion hryvnias from international partners. It will operate during the martial law in Ukraine and six months after it.
The parliament passed a law according to which the construction of all new buildings is now possible only with bomb shelters .
The existing civil protection system is not able to fully protect people. Therefore, the question arose about the urgent deployment in Ukraine of a network of protective structures of civil defense capable of ensuring or at least significantly increasing the level of safety of citizens from war crimes, which are committed almost every day by the armed forces of Russian terrorist forces, the document says.
According to the forecasts of people's deputies, the adoption of the Law will ensure the creation of additional measures in the field of construction activities related to the protection of the population from explosions, blast waves, damage by dangerous chemical, radioactive and biologically dangerous substances.
[LB] It will be problematic for the Russians to put out the fire.
by Oleksandr Kravchenko
Fields are burning under the temporarily occupied Mariupol. In this way, the Ukrainian resistance prevents the Russians from stealing Ukrainian grain.
This was reported by Petro Andryushchenko , adviser to the mayor of Mariupol .
"The Nemizida resistance group conveys another warm greeting to the occupiers," Andryushchenko wrote.
He added that the fields are burning in the direction of Novoazovsk-Donetsk. Novoazovsk is the location of a hospital where wounded Azov fighters POWs are receiving treatment.
Nearby are fortifications, warehouses of BC equipment and minefields, so it is difficult to extinguish the fire.
"We hope that the fire will spread to the frost base and there will be ???," Andryushchenko concluded.
We will remind you that in the Primorye district of Mariupol, the Russian occupiers are building "prefab concrete chicken coops" under the guise of high-rise buildings.
