One was "The Loves of Hercules". I watched the MST 3K version of it a year or so ago.

Jayne played two roles: a brunette good queen and a red head evil queen. The plot was incomprehensible.

However, Jayne was pregnant about 2 months at the time of the filming and her breasts were even bigger than normal.

Homeowner fatally shot suspect who was 'harassing' neighborhood,
Feel good story of the weekend...
DALLAS - Dallas police are investigating after a homeowner fatally shot a suspect who reportedly threatened to kill the homeowner late Saturday night.

The shooting happened just after 11 p.m., in the 2600 block of Quinto Drive.

Investigators found that before being shot, the suspect "was harassing the neighborhood" and tried to break into several cars.

Police were told the suspect threatened to kill a homeowner. The suspect pretended to have a weapon and reportedly charged at the homeowner twice.
Rule to live by: Never bring an imaginary 'little friend' to a gunfight.
That's when the homeowner, who claimed to be in fear for their life, shot the suspect.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

The suspect's name has not yet been released.
I guess you can look it up on his tombstone.
No charges have been filed at this time.

U.S. opioid crisis to spur ‘mass death' as pain pills mixed with other drugs, study warns
From a comment posted this morning by SKID.
[Just the News] Researchers are warning that the United States is facing its most significant spike in opioid deaths as patients increasingly mix synthetic pain pills with stimulants such as cocaine and methamphetamines.

In a peer-reviewed study in JAMA Network Open, researchers at Northwestern University described the dark consequences of the phenomenon known as polydrug abuse.

"I’m sounding the alarm because, for the first time, there is a convergence and escalation of acceleration rates for every type of rural and urban county," study author Lori Post said Thursday. "Not only is the death rate from an opioid at an all-time high, but the acceleration of that death rate signals explosive exponential growth that is even larger than an already historic high."

The study said the United States has seen three overlapping major waves of opioid overdose deaths: in 2000, 2007 and 2013, the last fueled by the rise of fetanyl.

The current wave, worsened by the pandemic, is poised to be the most lethal yet, researchers fear.

"We have the highest escalation rate for the first time in America, and this fourth wave will be worse than it’s ever been before," Post said. "It’s going to mean mass death."

Toxicology reports examined by the Northwestern team showed overdoses increasingly involve fentanyl, a synthetic opioid that can be 100 times more potent than morphine — and carfentanil, which can be 100 times more potent than fentanyl.

"The only path forward is to increase awareness to prevent opioid use disorders and to provide medication-assisted treatment that is culturally appropriate and non-stigmatizing in rural communities," Post said.

In February, another study said as many as 1.2 million people could die from drug overdoses across North America by the end of the decade.

In 2020 about 90k

Government Corruption
CDC told Big Tech to censor COVID claims now debated by mainstream scientists, documents show
[JustTheNews] New FOIA docs give boost to legal challenges to federal involvement in social media content moderation.

The newly revealed scope of collaboration between the feds and Big Tech in stamping out purported COVID-19 misinformation and promoting government narratives has opened a new chapter in constitutional challenges to state-influenced censorship by private actors.

On Wednesday night, America First Legal (AFL) published the first 286-page batch of emails among CDC, Google, Twitter and Meta staffers, some of whom were former Hill and White House aides. The production was compelled through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, and typical of government document dumps, it's not text-searchable.

The emails show intimate cooperation was well underway by the time the White House a year ago acknowledged the effort, which included thinly veiled threats for not more aggressively removing content.

New Civil Liberties Alliance attorney Jenin Younes told Just the News it incorporated "the revelations about the CDC emails" into a filing Thursday seeking to reopen its case against the feds on behalf of deplatformed users.

A federal court dismissed that litigation a month before a whistleblower leaked documents suggesting the Department of Homeland Security's since-scrapped Disinformation Governance Board planned to "operationalize" its relationship with social media companies to remove content. NCLA cited those documents in its initial motion to reopen in June.

NCLA motion to reopen.pdf
The document dump by AFL, led by former Trump White House senior advisor Stephen Miller, is also likely to help a lawsuit by Missouri and Louisiana attorneys general against the feds for alleged collusion with Big Tech to censor information on COVID's origins, Hunter Biden's laptop and vote-by-mail security.

The feds filed a motion to dismiss two weeks ago for lack of legal standing and failure to state a claim. The AGs' responses aren't due until next week.

AFL's documents show the CDC shared specific tweets and Facebook and Instagram posts as examples of content to remove, including an interview with a former Pfizer vice president, Michael Yeadon, who advised against taking "top up" vaccines, meaning boosters.

The agency inserted its own COVID recommendations into Google's code, received $15 million in Facebook ad credits to promote its messaging, and even notified Facebook that Wyoming's public health messages were getting throttled as misinformation.

CDC digital media branch chief Carol Crawford, the sender on many of the emails, sent Facebook a suggested "quiz" that tells users to get vaccinated even if they have natural immunity, which a new study in the New England Journal of Medicine found more effective than two-dose vaccination against symptomatic Omicron BA.2 infection.

She suggested adding a paragraph to Facebook posts mentioning the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System that emphasizes the system accepts reports from anyone, without noting that manufacturers and healthcare providers are required by law to report and the two account for most reports.

Twitter proactively asked the agency what to censor and requested holding off on a misinformation coordination meeting because its CEO was about to testify in Congress.

A Google News staffer told the CDC in June 2020 that the company's efforts against COVID and election misinformation were "inevitably related."

The agency hosted regular "Be on the Lookout" meetings with tech companies, featuring slide presentations of messages to censor and "The Facts" to counter them, with instructions to limit the slides to "your trust and safety teams." Each page says "THIS INFORMATION IS NOT FOR FURTHER DISTRIBUTION."

Some of the specific content the feds wanted removed, and narratives they sought to promote, have subsequently become subjects of debate among mainstream scientists, including vaccine side effects on menstruation and fertility, optimal time between mRNA doses, and the effectiveness of masks against viral transmission.

The CDC's Crawford included a tweet by feminist COVID contrarian Naomi Wolf on the misinformation example list. "Unconfirmed, needs more investigation," Wolf tweeted, pointing to a Facebook group where women shared their "bleeding/ clotting after vaccination or that they bleed oddly being AROUND vaccinated women."

Several months later, the National Institutes of Health admitted vaccines have a "small" effect on menstrual cycles. A peer-reviewed study this month in Science Advances found nearly as many women with "regular menstrual cycles" reported heavier bleeding within two weeks of vaccination (42%) as those who reported no change (44%).

The feds also highlighted claims about "shedding" as targets for removal. While some examples referred to transmitting the vaccines' allegedly poisonous ingredients, others weren't specific. Viral shedding can simply refer to actively infectious people, vaccinated or not.

University of Colorado medical researchers this spring found that vaccinated people shed in an unexpected way.

Their preprint study, not yet peer-reviewed, found that vaccinated healthcare workers shed vaccine-induced antibodies into their face masks, leading the researchers to hypothesize "droplet/aerosolized antibody transfer" was possible between people.

Most of the document dump is not meaningfully redacted, though about 20 pages have partial or full redactions under the FOIA exemption for internal government deliberations known as (b)(5), regarded by transparency groups left and right as the "most abused" exemption.

Those sections concern April 2021 CDC deliberations on the template for its social media paid ads, updating the "Prevention and Treatment tabs" in Google's Knowledgebase, Google's request to "discuss vaccines" at a scheduled agency meeting, and Facebook's proposed "I got a vaccine" frame for user profiles.

Other recent developments may put the feds on the defensive. Deplatformed journalist Emerald Robinson said Thursday that "excess death data" were missing from CDC databases.

A new preprint study by a Dutch researcher, not yet peer-reviewed, found Dutch vaccination and booster campaigns had no "mortality-reducing effect" but did find a "4-sigma-significant mortality-enhancing effect during the two periods of high unexplained excess mortality" in the Netherlands.

Report: 73 Illegal Aliens Found in Stash Houses in Wealthy D.C. Neighborhood
[Breitbart] More than six dozen illegal aliens, including children, were found in stash houses — likely operated by the Mexican drug cartels — in a wealthy region of Washington, D.C., a new report reveals.

According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) records, reviewed by NBC News, the illegal aliens were found in a raid that saw agents search six stash houses in the nation’s capital.

Stash houses are seemingly most common along and near the United States-Mexico border. The report indicates that the human smugglers associated with the Mexican drug cartels have forged a significant smuggling route for illegal immigration to Washington, D.C.

NBC News reports:

Immigration agents found 73 migrants living in houses operated by human smugglers in the Northwest area of Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, according to internal documents reviewed by NBC News. [Emphasis added]

The migrants, 60 adults and 13 children,
...someone has to supply the market now that the Lolita Express is shut down permanently...
were discovered by Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations team as part of an operation that targeted six residential homes believed to be operated by human smugglers. The agents also found $95,000 and a small amount of cocaine,
“Just for personal use, Y’r Honourness. In case Hunter stops by.”
the documents said. [Emphasis added]

The northwest quadrant contains some of the city’s most affluent neighborhoods, and the median home price is $750,000, according to Redfin data. The documents don’t give addresses or neighborhoods for the houses where the migrants were living or say how many were being held in a single house. [Emphasis added]

The raid comes as D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) has requested the National Guard after more than 4,000 border crossers and illegal aliens have traveled to the region in recent weeks after arriving at the southern border and being released into the U.S. interior as part of President Joe Biden’s expansive Catch and Release network.

“I’ve asked for the deployment of the Guard as long as we need the Guard to deal with the humanitarian crisis that we expect to escalate,” Bowser said this week.

Those more than 4,000 border crossers and illegal aliens arriving in D.C. are a fraction of what American border communities face every day thanks to the Biden administration’s lax enforcement agenda.

In Texas border towns, alone, nearly 130,000 border crossers and illegal aliens were caught crossing the border in June. Most recently, in the small town of Normandy, Texas — with a population of just 29 residents — about 400 border crossers and illegal aliens crossed into the area this month.

From February 2021 to May 2022, more than a million border crossers and illegal aliens have been released into American communities.

Mexico's President Claims U.S. Government Behind Train Project Opposition
[Breitbart] Mexico’s president claims the U.S. government is funding environmental groups attempting to block one of his pet projects — a rail project near the resort of Cancun. As a result, this week, he reclassified the project as one of national security importance.

Dubbed the Mayan Train, the unfinished rail project is meant to unite various tourist resort cities near Cancun. According to Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO), the project would connect major Mayan Riviera resort cities, creating thousands of jobs and will bring economic benefit to the country. However, various groups and NGOs in Mexico attempted to derail the project, claiming that it would cause irreparable damage to the country’s jungle areas. Those groups filed for multiple court injunctions in an attempt to stop construction.

During a news conference, Mexico’s president defended his decision to label the project as one of national security by claiming that there was foreign interference from the U.S. government. Under the claim that the project was a national security issue, Lopez Obrador ordered construction to resume. As part of his rhetoric, AMLO has been calling his opposers “traitors” and claimed they are funded by and working for a foreign government.

“This is a national security issue for many reasons because a foreign government is interfering,” Lopez Obrador said. “Pseudo environmentalists come from Mexico City and other parts of the country, financed by the government of the United States, and they file these injunctions against us.”

In an interview with the Associated Press, environmental activist Pepe Urbina said AMLO’s claims were untrue. The activist told the publication that he works as a professional driver and does not receive foreign funding.

“They are slandering us, by claiming we work for the U.S. government,” Urbina said. “It is absurd.”

According to Mexico’s El Financiero, Lopez Obrador previously singled out an organization called Mexicanos Contra La Corrupcion e Impunidad (Mexicans Against Corruption and Impunity) with claims that they receive funding from the U.S. government.

Expert: U.S. Cannot Have Energy Independence if It Relies on Russia Uranium
How soon they forget!
[Breitbart] Amir Adnani, founder and CEO of Uranium Energy Corp., said in an interview on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Saturday with host Matt Boyle that the United States cannot be energy independent if it relies on hostile nations like Russia and China for resources, including vital minerals like uranium.

Uranium is used to power nuclear plants and the nuclear reactors that power naval ships and submarines.

“[We have to] get off of the Russian uranium import dependency that we have,” Adnani said. ”We’re going to be a world superpower and not have our own uranium? We’re going to be a world superpower and depend for our uranium on Russia. How does any of this make sense?”

Adnani said that the Biden administration energy policies are hampering U.S. energy independence.

“We’ve got to just face the fact that in the real world, and a real energy matrix and policy, we need nuclear power, we need natural gas,” Adnani said. [“We’re a] big energy country and remember energy equals life. And Russia is trying to take life away. Russia is trying to take energy away and leverage it, whether it’s in the battle over Ukraine or when it comes to how it wants to influence and leverage against Europe.”

Andani said that his company is trying to turn the course of uranium production in the U.S.

“The U.S. used to be the biggest producer of uranium in the world,” Andani said.

“There’s no uranium mining domestically and I’m trying to change that,” Andani said.

In another important development in bringing back domestic uranium production Uranium Energy Corp. successfully aquired Uranium One, the world’s fourth largest uranium producer and part of Russia’s State Atomic Energy Corporation, Rosatom.

Inside the super-secure Swiss lab trying to stop the next pandemic
WHO?
[Jpost] Spiez Laboratory, known for its detective work on chemical, biological and nuclear threats since World War Two, was tasked last year by the World Health Organization to be the first in a global network of high-security laboratories that will grow, store and share newly discovered microbes that could unleash the next pandemic.
Goody. They’ll no doubt have better security and work practices than that thing in Wuhan, so there’s that.
The WHO's BioHub program was, in part, born of frustration over the hurdles researchers faced in getting samples of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, first detected in China, to understand its dangers and develop tools to fight it.

Hamas urges PA police officers to carry out terrorist attacks
[Jpost] Hamas praises terrorist, urges PA security forces to “clash with occupation forces and settlers to defend our people and our land.”

Hamas has called on members of Palestinian Authority security forces in the West Bank to carry out terrorist attacks against settlers and IDF soldiers.

The call came after a Palestinian security officer was shot last week by soldiers as he opened fire at a military position near Nablus.

The IDF said that several armed Palestinians arrived by car at the military post between Nablus and Huwara. One gunman got out of the vehicle and opened fire.

The soldiers returned fire and wounded the assailant, who was taken to an Israeli hospital.

The gunman was identified as Mahmoud Hajeer, 23, an officer with the Palestinian Police from Balata refugee camp near Nablus.

The involvement of the police officer in the shooting attack came amid growing fear that the PA and its security forces are losing control of the situation in the northern West Bank, especially in the areas of Nablus and Jenin.

Palestinian sources said over the weekend that there were signs of increased cooperation between gunmen belonging to Fatah and Palestinian Islamic Jihad in these areas.

Hamas spokesman Abdel Latif al-Qanou praised the officer who carried out the shooting attack and urged all members of the PA security forces to follow suit and “clash with the occupation forces and settlers to defend our people and our land.”

Qanou also called on the members of the PA security services to reject security coordination between the authority and the IDF.

OTHER TERROR GROUPS RESPOND
The PLO’s Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), a secular, Marxist-Leninist terrorist group, called on the PA leadership to turn thousands of its security officers into a “protective shield for our people against settler attacks and a deterrence force against the IDF.”

The DFLP said that changing the duties of the PA security services would “strengthen the cohesion between the people and their security forces.”

Nafez Azzam, a senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad official, said on Friday that the increased number of terrorist attacks in the West Bank have “confused” Israel.

Azzam said that he expected an increase in attacks.

Ukraine drone strike hits Russia Black Sea fleet HQ 'spoiling Navy Day'
[Jpost] The accusation comes hours before Russian President Vladimir Putin is due to oversee Navy Day celebrations in his hometown of St Petersburg.

A senior official in Russian-annexed Crimea accused Ukraine on Sunday of carrying out a drone attack ahead of planned celebrations to mark Navy Day, injuring five and forcing the cancellation of festivities.

The accusation comes hours before Russian President Vladimir Putin is due to oversee Navy Day celebrations in his hometown of St Petersburg and approve Russia's naval doctrine as Moscow presses on with its military intervention in Ukraine.

"An unidentified object flew into the courtyard of the fleet's headquarters," Mikhail Razvozhayev, governor of Sevastopol, home to Russia's Black Sea fleet, wrote on the Telegram messaging app.

"According to preliminary information, it is a drone."

He said Ukraine had decided to "spoil Navy Day for us."

The Ukrainian defense ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Russian Navy Day celebrations canceled

Razvozhayev said that five employees of the fleet headquarters had been injured in the incident and that the Federal Security Service (FSB) was investigating its circumstances.

"All celebrations have been canceled for security reasons," Razvozhayev said. "Please remain calm and stay home if possible."

Navy Day is an annual Russian holiday during which its fleets stage naval parades and honor its sailors.

Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine in March 2014, prompting a major row with the West which deepened over Moscow's role in an insurgency of pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
NIS 600 million to be deducted from taxes to Palestinian Authority
[Jpost] The Security Cabinet voted Sunday to deduct NIS 600 million from tax and tariffs collected for the Palestinians Authority, as it is legally required to do annually, so long as the PA pays terrorists who attacked Israelis.

The amount deducted from tax collected is in a report by the Defense Ministry’s National Bureau for Counter-Terror Financing. It gives the sum of PA funds indirectly supporting terrorism, via the payments that go to Palestinians in Israeli prisons for committing terrorist attacks, or the families of Palestinians killed while attacking Israelis.

TAX DEDUCTIONS
The deduction will be made over the course of the coming 12 months.

The PA’s policy of paying terrorists or their family has been nicknamed “pay for slay,” while the Palestinians call it a “martyrs’ fund.”

Palestinians with longer prison sentences receive higher monthly stipends, such that the more Israelis they kill or maim, the more money the PA pays them.

Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz abstained from Sunday’s Security Cabinet vote, but expressed opposition to the move in the closed-door meeting, saying that cooperation with the PA on security and civil matters is important, and the deduction makes it more difficult.

Horowitz also pointed out that a large part of the deductions in recent years were paid back to the PA in the form of loans.

Transportation Minister Merav Michaeli suggested that Israel negotiate with the PA so it stops paying terrorists, which Alternate Prime Minister Naftali Bennett opposed.

The Finance Ministry deducts the amount the PA pays terrorists and their families each year in accordance with the Pay for Slay Law passed in 2018, which requires the Defense Ministry to provide the Security Cabinet with the requisite information. The cabinet does not, however, have the discretion not to withhold the funds, according to the law.

Israel collects VAT and tariffs on imports to the PA, all of which go through Israeli checkpoints. This arrangement was part of an annex to the Oslo Accords and provides the PA with its largest source of income. Israel also collects income tax and health insurance funds for Palestinians working for Israelis.

Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs senior researcher Brig.-Gen. (res.) Yossi Kuperwasser said that PA President Mahmoud Abbas “has no reason to worry.”

Defense Minister Benny Gantz “will find another arrangement,” Kuperwasser said, just as the Biden administration circumvented the Taylor Force Act, which stops US funding for the PA as long as “pay for slay” remains in place, by donating to UNRWA and Palestinian hospitals.

“Under the empty slogan of strengthening the PA, we allow the Palestinians to take out loans to deduct the deduction and funds the projects that are truly important to them, through which they perpetuate the violent struggle against Zionism,” Kuperwasser said.

Russia, Wagner mercenaries smuggling gold from Sudan to finance war -CNN
[Jpost] Tons of gold, worth billions of dollars, are being smuggled out of Sudan, in one case being passed as boxes of cookies.

Russia and Russian Wagner mercenaries are smuggling gold from Sudan to finance war efforts in Ukraine, a CNN report claimed on Friday.

Tons of gold, worth billions of dollars, are being smuggled out of the country, according to the local Mujo Press. Accounts of how much gold is missing vary, Mujo Press putting the amount at around 38.5 tons a year lost to smuggling in general.

In the last half year, at least 16 Russian smuggling flights have made the rounds out of the country — at least one manifest claiming to be transporting cookies, according to CNN. Some of the flights were destined for Latakia, Syria, where Russia has a major airbase.

SMUGGLING NETWORK
According to CNN, the lynchpin of the operation is a gold processing plant in al-Abaudiya owned by Meroe Gold. Wagner operative Alexander Sergeyevich Kuznetsov has allegedly been overseeing gold mining, processing and transit sites in Sudan over the last few years.

"Meroe Gold and its new false name (Al-Solag), both of which are fronts (Russian Wagner), are preparing to dispose of large quantities of gold, and by large, I mean large — By smuggling as possible and by selling them in the local market outside the banking system," asserted Sudanese blogger Hisham Ali on July 18.

According to the US Treasury, Meroe Gold is a subsidiary of M Invest which is owned or controlled by Mikhail Potepkin and serves as a cover for the Wagner mercenary company. Yevgeniy Prigozhin was named as the head of the network. Prigozhin is alleged by the Treasury to be Wagner's financier.

CNN reported that M-Invest has been extracting resources while providing weapons and training to the Sudanese military and paramilitary groups. According to the CIA World Factbook, much of Sudan's weaponry is Russian or old Soviet gear.

RUSSIA IN AFRICA
Russia has been interfering in the Sudanese gold trade since at least 2014, CNN reported, after the invasion of Crimea.
That would explain why they have such a huge stash hidden under the Kremlin...
“Yevgeniy Prigozhin and his network are exploiting Sudan’s natural resources for personal gain and spreading malign influence around the globe,” said then Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin in 2020, when the US government undertook a series of sanctions that targeted the shell companies. “The United States remains committed to holding him and other bad actors accountable so Sudan and other countries can operate freely.”

The US has designated the Wagner mercenary company as a designated Russian Ministry of Defense proxy force. The group has seen extensive deployment in the Ukraine-Russia War.

Michael Anton: They Can't Let Him Back In
[COMPACTMAG] The people who really run the United States of America have made it clear that they can't, and won't, if they can help it, allow Donald Trump to be president again. In fact, they made this clear in 2020, in a series of public statements. Simply for quoting their words in an essay for The American Mind, I was mercilessly mocked and attacked. But they were quite clear. Trump won't be president at noon, Jan. 20, 2021, even if we have to use the military to drag him out of there.

"Anti-Trump hysteria is in the final analysis not about Trump."

If the regime felt that strongly back then, imagine how they feel now. But you don't have to imagine. They tell you every day. Liz Cheney, Trump's personal Javert, has said that the 45th president is literally the greatest threat facing America today-greater than China, than our crashing economy, than our unraveling civil society.

That's rhetoric, of course, but it isn't merely that. It's safer, and generally more accurate, to assume that your adversaries mean what they say. If you doubt this, ask yourself: When was the last time they acted more moderately than they talk?

Even if it is just rhetoric, the words nonetheless portend turbulence. "He who says A must say B." The logic of statement A inevitably leads to action B, even if the speaker of A didn't really mean it, or did mean it, but still didn't want B. Her followers won’t get the irony and, enthused by A, will insist on B.

Take some time to listen to the mainstream media. It doesn't have to be long; five minutes should do. Then spend another five or so reading the statements of prominent politicians other than Trump. To round it out, sacrifice another five on leading intellectuals. It should become abundantly clear: They all have said A and so must say-and do-B.

And B is that Trump absolutely must not be allowed to take office on Jan. 20, 2025.
What follows in the article are potential plans to secure that outcome. Anton lays them out rather succinctly.

Biden Administration Plans for Legal Psychedelic Therapies witin two years
[Intercept] As Twin Mental Health and drug misuse crises kill thousands of people per week, the potential of psychedelic-assisted therapies "must be explored," urges a federal letter on behalf of the U.S. health secretary and shared with The Intercept.

President Joe Biden’s administration "anticipates" that regulators will approve MDMA and psilocybin within the next two years for designated breakthrough therapies for PTSD and depression, respectively. The administration is "exploring the prospect of establishing a federal task force to monitor" the emerging psychedelic treatment ecosystem, according to the letter sent by Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use Miriam Delphin-Rittmon to Rep. Madeleine Dean, D-Pa.

The May correspondence, not shared publicly until now, is the clearest indication yet that top officials are preparing for the approval of psychedelic drugs — demonized for decades after former President Richard Nixon sought means to attack the anti-Vietnam War counterculture in the late 1960s — which was arguably unthinkable even five years ago.

Iranian bomber blows off his legs in Bangkok as grenade he hurled at police bounces off tree and explodes at his feet
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Moved to Page 2: WoT: Background because it is, as Penguin of the Desert points out in comments, from 2012. Also Southeast Asia because that’s where it happened.
Update at 5:30 p.m. EDT: We had two reports of this story on the day it happened, here and here, and no doubt more on the days that followed.
  • Stash of explosives blow roof off house occupied by three Iranians

  • Two men fled, but Saedi Moradi staggered out and tried to hail a taxi

  • Driver refused lift as Moradi covered in blood, so he hurled a grenade

  • Threw another explosive at police but it bounced off tree and hit his legs

  • 'We know who carried this out and we will settle scores with them', says Israel
Moradi, who was taken to hospital, injured four people in the blasts which come the day after Israeli diplomats were targeted in simultaneous car bombings, also believed to have been carried out by Iranians.

Moradi, who was taken to hospital, injured four people in the blasts which come the day after Israeli diplomats were targeted in simultaneous car bombings, also believed to have been carried out by Iranians.

It is not yet known if yesterday's and today's attacks are linked - but Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak said the Bangkok violence 'proves once again that Iran and its proxies continue to perpetrate terror'.

And public security minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch told Israel Radio: 'We know who carried out the terror attacks, we know who sent them, and Israel will settle the score with them.'

More explosives were found at Moradi's house, in the Ekamai area of central Bangkok, which police say he had been renting with two others.

He is believed to have arrived in Bangkok, from the southern Thai resort of Phuket, on February 8.

Police said security forces at Bangkok's international airport detained a second Iranian later today.

Mohummad Hazaei, one of the men in the house where the explosives first went off, was trying to board a flight for Malaysia. They said a third Iranian - believed wounded in that initial explosion - was also on the run.

Thailand has rarely been a target for foreign terrorists, although a domestic Muslim insurgency in the country's south has involved bombings of civilian targets.

Israel and the U.S. warned their citizens to be alert in the capital, but Thai authorities said the country appeared to have been a staging ground but not the target of any attack.

It comes the day after Israeli diplomats were targeted in simultaneous bomb plots which were also blamed on Iran. It is not known whether the attacks are linked.

A bomb attached magnetically to a car in the Indian capital New Delhi exploded and injured the wife of an Israeli official and two bystanders.

Officials in Georgia said an explosive device was attached to the bottom of a diplomat’s car in the capital Tbilisi, but was found and defused before it detonated.

Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu said Iran was behind both incidents, adding that the Islamic republic's Lebanese ally Hezbollah - which battled Israel in a month-long war in 2006 - could have been involved too.

Last month, a Lebanese-Swedish man with alleged links to Hezbollah militants was detained by Thai police. He led authorities to a warehouse filled with more than 4,000kilos of urea fertiliser and several gallons of liquid ammonium nitrate.

British drug smugglers are jailed for more than 20 years each for bungled attempt to bring £570m of narcotics into Australia that resulted in a grounded yacht and being captured by a giant SEAL
[MAIL] Graham Palmer, 37, and Scott Jones, 38, were part of the ring which tried to smuggle cocaine, methamphetamine and ecstasy into the country before their yacht ran aground and an elephant seal blocked them as they tried to flee from police.

The pair were sentenced in the Australian Supreme Court today alongside US citizen Jason Lassiter, 47, and Angus Jackson, 53, from New South Wales after their comical heist led them into the hands of police.

The group attempted their daring plot in September 2019 after hatching the plan in Thailand, and Palmer, along with skipper Antoine Dicenta, 53, who has admitted his guilt but not yet been sentenced, set sail from Madagascar.

Their yacht named Zero picked up 380kg of cocaine, 344kg of MDMA and 171kg of methamphetamine at a South African port worth an estimated one billion Australian dollars (£570billion), then-police commissioner Chris Dawson said.

Guatemala's Giammattei unharmed after gunmen fire on military guarding entourage
GUATEMALA CITY, July 30 (Reuters) - Guatemalan military exchanged fire with the passengers of a car as it approached the location of President Alejandro Giammattei's entourage on Saturday, though the president was elsewhere and was unharmed, an army spokesman said.

Military officials stopped the vehicle as it neared a checkpoint guarding the presidential delegation during a visit by Giammattei to the area of Huehuetenango, 300 km (190 miles) east of capital Guatemala City, the spokesman said.

The occupants of the car opened fire on the soldiers, who returned fire. Giammattei was about 2 km (a mile) away at the time.

"We inform the people of Guatemala and the international community that the president is unharmed and was evacuated from the area in a timely manner," a government statement said.

One of the gunmen, who is Mexican, was injured in the confrontation, the statement said. The others fled in the car towards the Mexican border about 80 km (50 miles) away, it said.

What's the Lowest Your Social Security Increase Will Likely Be?
[Motley Fool] You might have heard a lot recently about the huge Social Security cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) that's on the way. There are some reasons you shouldn't count on a COLA of close to 11%. To answer the question, it's important to first understand how the COLA is calculated.

#1  ...Yet another prediction: You're going to see some kind of effort to reduce the raise from whatever the mandatory numbers turn out to be...because the military and GS raises are connected to the inflation rate too.

The Feds dare not stiff the GS's for a single dime, because of A) Government employee political support and B) some of that money eventually comes back to the Party. The Feds will figure that they can blow off the military and SS recipients ("Everyone must make sacrifices in this difficult time")...but the GS's will get more and better.

#2  The raise will push more retired people into taxable brackets, where each dollar more is 100% taxed.

Years ago I worked with a lady who was on Social Security, so only worked January-April, as everything she was paid after that reduced what she could get from Social Security by the same amount. It was sad — she enjoyed the work with her friends, but not enough to do it for free.

#4  The increase I got at the start of the year was less than the medicare increase. That coupled with inflation and the rising cost of everything leaves me where I was 6 years ago. Or worse off.

The raise of Fed Govt civilian salaries is not tied to the same COL that determines the Soc Sec adjustment.

The Fed Govt adjustment is based on something called the 'comparability' analysis (explaining this is complicated and it is not worth the time to understand but it is based on a 1990 law which has been amended many times) and almost always adjusted by the President.

For example, for calendar 2022, the GS employees received a 2.2% to 3.4% raise depending on locality (e.g., employees in Washington DC got 3.02%, while the raise in the SocSec benefit was about 5.9%

Mystery Surrounds Man's Death After Exiting Cargo Plane Without Parachute 4,000 Feet Above North Carolina
[ZERO] A person without a parachute exited a twin-engine cargo plane before an emergency landing Friday afternoon at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) in North Carolina.

Local media ABC 11 reported the CASA C-212 Aviocar medium cargo plane experienced landing-gear issues ahead of landing at RDU. The story took a dramatic turn and a weird one when a person exited the plane thousands of feet in the air.

Report on Reconciliation Confirms Joe Manchin Is a Pathetic Coward
[Red State] I have an embarrassing confession to make: I once, sort of, respected Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always known he’s a flakey Democrat, and though it’s been fun to entertain him possibly switching parties and causing a meltdown on the left, those hopes were always far-fetched. Still, his stance over the last year against a boondoggle, green scam-filled reconciliation bill was laudable. Even in the face of intense pressure, including personal harassment and threats, Manchin stood firm — until he didn’t.

In a sudden reversal, Manchin stabbed Republicans in the back. Despite assurances that if the GOP voted for the CHIPS Act that the West Virginia senator wouldn’t support another gut-busting spending bill, Manchin came in off the top rope to announce he and Schumer had made a deal. What was in it? $400 billion in wasteful spending on "climate change" initiatives. It also includes tax hikes on corporations which will exacerbate inflation.

For days, those in the political sphere racked their brains trying to figure out what caused Manchin to change his mind. A new report from The Washington Post gives us the answer, and the short of it is that he’s a pathetic coward.

#9  Lifted directly from CTH this afternoon:

BRASS TACKS – Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was gleeful last week promoting Manchin’s new green energy proposal because, with steel and aluminum tariffs removed, Canada will be one the biggest beneficiaries of $370 billion congressional spending package. Canada has no heavy industry left, they are the assembly economy for foreign manufacturing that uses loopholes, and the senate bill creates a USMCA loophole for this exact purpose.

The West Virginia windmills and solar panels will be shipped as raw materials from China and the EU into Canada. Canada will assemble the parts and ship the finished goods into the United States for placement by illegal alien workers employed by the contractors. The batteries to store the solar and windmill power will come from Mexico, after they receive the raw materials from Africa and Asia.

Canadian workers, Mexican workers, Chinese Workers, African workers and ASEAN workers will all benefit from the generous Joe Manchin spending package.

Unemployed West Virginia coal miners will watch Joe Manchin run for office in 2024 on Japanese televisions powered by China, while eating cheese puff flavored cricket snacks sourced from Canada. Brilliant plan, Joe.

Priorities: U.S. Military Base Is Hosting a Drag Show
[PJ] It seems as if every day lately there is another reason to break out the champagne in Moscow and Beijing, and Saturday was no exception: it was the day of Joint Base Langley-Eustis (JBLE)’s first "Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Summer Festival," featuring (what else), a drag show. What does all this woke nonsense have to do with winning wars? Oh, never mind that; that’s the old, white supremacist military! The new diverse military has other priorities altogether.

The festival, according to the Daily Wire, will feature "a series of performances and speeches, including a poem on ’Diversity, Equity and Inclusion’ and a drag show by Joshua Kelley, who performs under the moniker Harpy Daniels."

This isn’t some outsider, non-military-grade drag show, either. Harpy Daniels is actually a yeoman 3rd class in the United States Navy, and you can just imagine how proud John Paul Jones and Chester Nimitz would be if they saw young Harpy in action. He actually joined the Navy in order to finance his drag career. Back in the bad old days, young men joined the Navy out of a sense of patriotism (and no doubt a desire for adventure), but for Harpy it’s just a means to an end: "With drag being my number one passion," Yeoman Harpy explained, "it quickly became costly. On top of just struggling to make ends meet and then pay college loans, the Navy became a great option to get myself situated in life."

They’re going to get a bravura performance at JBLE, because Harpy gives it his or her or xis all: "Doing drag allows me to embrace my feminine side and allows me to bring my diversity and creativity out. When I put on a face, it’s a face of art and creativity, not just a face of make-up. To hear people cheer, laugh or cry, or even join in with you during a performance is an absolute thrill."

Those straights and dweebs over at the Daily Wire note primly that Harpy’s "professional Instagram page features dozens of photos of him in drag, many of them heavily sexualized. Some of the photos show Kelley nude, though the photos themselves appear to not violate Instagram’s nudity policies." My fellow Americans, this is your United States Navy!

Pakistanis advised to mask up at Muharram gatherings amid COVID-19 outbreak
[GEOTV] With Pakistain logging hundreds of COVID-19 cases everyday, the National Institute of Health, Islamabad (NIH) has advised strict adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), including mask wearing and social distancing during Muharram gatherings.

Peace monitor: Weapons proliferate in Mindanao despite decommissioning process
[BenarNews] Efforts to remove and destroy firearms belonging to former Moslem separatist guerrillas — as required by a 2014 peace deal — have failed to make the southern Philippines much safer from gun violence, a conflict monitoring group is reporting.

There has been no proper accounting for the number of weapons that members of the former Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) guerrilla group have turned over and that have been decommissioned, analysts with International Alert Philippines said in presenting findings from their research over the last decade.

Many weapons are still circulating among forces of Evil and civilians in the south, they said.

The passivist character of the gospels is filtered into an illiterate world where the hero-story of Jesus becomes understood by the culture's own warrior-hero myths, and so evangelization and Christian mission become violent conquests of heathens by which these Christians attain to the glory and eternal life won by the victory of the Jesus-hero.

Dale has been here for years, and sharing the results of his conversations with those he encounters along his way for almost as long. Sometimes we get music videos as a result.

You would be amazed how fast American industry can recover capacity

An increasing number of companies have been finding alternative manufacturing location outside China, a trend that started during the Trump presidency and has accelerated since the Covid shutdown demonstrated how important not allowing China a stranglehold is. But even for simple processes it takes two years or more to build a factory and get it running, so we should start seeing results over the next few years — both the acceleration of China’s financial bubble popping and an increased need for skilled and trainable workers at home. I can’t imagine President Xi and those dependent on his power are going to enjoy the experience, though I have to admit the unkindness of looking forward what the boiler room trolls and the usual pundits will feel forced to say about it all.

India-Pakistan
Terrorist gunned down in Baramulla
[OneIndia] A terrorist has been killed in an encounter that took place in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
on Saturday, July 30.

The encounter broke out at the Wanigam Bala areas of Baramulla district in North Kashmir. "Baramulla Encounter Update: 01 terrorist killed. Search going on. Further details shall follow, " a police statement read.

The encounter broke out after the security forces cordoned off the area following a tip off about the presence of bully boyz in the area.

There have been a series of encounters between the bully boyz and security forces across Kashmir in the past few months. The forces have shot full of holes several top bully boyz and commander of various terror groups that operate in the Valley.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: July 30th, 2022
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Korrespondent] 23:15 The coordinating headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war published an interview with Russian prisoners who were being prepared for an exchange in Nikolaev. The exchange was postponed, probably due to the murder of Ukrainian soldiers in Yelenovka.

22:52 Zelensky explained why Russia should be recognized as a terrorist state: "The formal legal recognition of Russia as a terrorist state, in particular recognition from the United States State Department, is needed not as a political gesture, but as an effective defense of the free world. Such a decision will automatically complicate the existence of the state "terrorist, will automatically break various political and business ties that Russia will otherwise maintain. And this will all happen one hundred percent. This will have to be done - the only question is in time and in the format of making this decision. And the sooner this is, the less evil Russia can do it."

22:44 Zelensky in an evening video message stressed the need to evacuate from Donbass: "There is a government decision on mandatory evacuation from the Donetsk region, everything is being organized. Full support, full assistance - both logistical and payments. Only a decision is needed from the people themselves, who are still they didn't take him in. Go, we'll help." The President called on everyone who has the opportunity to talk with people in the Donbass to convince them to leave, and, if possible, to help the IDPs.

21:01 Russia intends to "completely erase Ukraine from the map of the world," US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said at a meeting of the UN Security Council, writes Sky News. There are growing signs, she said, that the Kremlin is laying the groundwork for an attempt to annex all of Ukraine's eastern regions, as well as the southern regions of Kherson and Zaporozhye, "in order to hold sham referendums" or decrees to join Russia.

20:35 Volunteer battalions are being formed throughout Russia to be sent to war in Ukraine. Analysts estimate that more than 30,000 people can be mobilized, with no military experience required, according to CNN. Of the 30,000 mobilized, about a third are planning to be sent to the Donbass.

19:24 In the Slavyansk, Avdeevsky and Novopavlovsky directions, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled the assaults of the Russians, at the same time, in the Bakhmut direction, the occupiers are partially successful and are gaining a foothold on the outskirts of Semigorye, the General Staff said in the evening summary .

18:31 The Azov Regiment published an official statement. commander Nikita Nadtochia regarding the massacre of Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Yelenovka colony: “We regard the strike on Yelenovka as an act of public execution. Russia committed it out of impunity. They are used to the fact that no one will bring them to justice, even for open violation of the laws and customs of war. Therefore, we, Azov, Ukraine as a state and the entire civilized world, will painfully fight back so that Russia remembers this once and for all. We are already finding out the names of the perpetrators and organizers of the execution, we already have preliminary information."

18:16 The Lebanese prosecutor's office detained the Syrian ship Laodicea, which, according to Kiev, was transporting Ukrainian wheat. According to the BBC, citing local media, a 72-hour arrest was imposed on the ship in the port of Tripoli, the investigation was transferred to the special services. Permission for the detention was received by the Embassy of Ukraine in Lebanon at the request of Kyiv. In case of confiscation of the cargo, Ukraine will be ready to negotiate the terms of its transfer to Lebanon.

18:03 Mandatory evacuation of the population will be organized from the regions of the Donetsk region controlled by Ukraine, Irina Vereshchuk said. 15:39 Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko responded to a tweet from the Russian embassy in Britain: "There is no difference between Russian diplomats calling for the execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war and Russian troops doing it in Yelenovka. 14:25 Russia is exporting looted gold from Sudan to finance the war in Ukraine, according to a CNN investigation. Journalists found out that a few days after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a Russian cargo plane illegally took out about a ton of gold from the capital of Sudan, Khartoum. The precious metal was hidden under boxes of cookies, which are clearly not a Sudanese export.

CNN writes that it was one of at least 16 Russian gold smuggling flights from Sudan that became known. In exchange for gold, the Russian Federation provides support to the increasingly unpopular military leadership in Sudan, which brutally suppresses the pro-democracy movement in the country.

13:53 The Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets demands from the Red Cross and the UN monitoring mission to allow him to enter the territory of the colony in Yelenovka, where Ukrainian prisoners of war died. Lubinets added that he also turned to the Ombudsman of the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova with a proposal to visit Elenovka together.

13:34 Russia has completely or partially stopped gas supplies to 12 EU states, Ursula von der Leyen said in an interview with Diario de Noticias. According to her, the actions of the Russian Federation were intentional, so the EU needs to prepare for further interruptions or even a complete cessation of Russian gas supplies.

The head of the European Commission noted that the EU has already received record volumes of liquefied natural gas supplies from the United States and is receiving more and more raw materials from Norway, the Persian Gulf countries, Algeria and the Caspian Sea region. The countries are also increasing their own production.

13:16 The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that as a result of the terrorist attack in Yelenovka, "most of the 193 Ukrainian prisoners of war who were there were killed and maimed." 12:02 The patronage service of the Azov regiment reported that the occupiers posted a list of the names of the wounded and dead as a result of terrorist actions in Yelenovka. However, the Ukrainian side is not yet able to confirm or refute these reports and is checking them for authenticity: "We inform the families of the wounded and dead in Yelenovka on an individual basis. Not a single Ukrainian or international institution can confirm or refute the lists posted in the Russian media."

11:46 British Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons demands an investigation into the killing of Ukrainian prisoners of war in occupied Yelenovka: "Olenovka demands an investigation. This looks like part of an increasingly disturbing pattern of the worst types of human rights violations and possible war crimes that are being committed with impunity in the occupied east of Ukraine."

10:57 Yermak commented on the tweet of the Russian embassy in the UK: "Russia is a terrorist country. In the 21st century, only savages and terrorists can tell at the diplomatic level that people deserve to be hanged for nothing. The Russian Federation is a state sponsoring terrorism What more proof do you need?

10:51 S&P downgraded Ukraine's long-term sovereign rating to pre-default - from CCC+ to CC, with a further negative outlook.

10:48 British intelligence reports that in the Kherson region, the Russian military most likely installed two pontoon bridges and launched a ferry system as a replacement for bridges damaged by recent UAF strikes. Analysts also note that in the newly captured territories in the south, Russia-installed "authorities" are under increasing pressure from Moscow. They are required to strengthen control over the region and prepare for "referendums" on joining the Russian Federation.

10:43 The Russian Embassy in the UK wrote on Twitter that the Azov fighters "deserve execution, but not by firing squad, but by hanging, because they are not real soldiers, they deserve a humiliating death." Russian "diplomats" attached a video to their tweet, where an allegedly married couple from Mariupol tells how they were "fired upon by the security forces of Azovstal."

We have requested access to determine the health and condition of all who were on place during the attack.

In particular, up to 80 shells were fired at Nikopol itself and the Krasnogrigoryevsk community. Private houses were damaged, the power grid was out of order, and there are destructions at two local enterprises. Previously, no people were hurt.

04:58 The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) notes that it cannot yet assess which side is responsible for the murder of Ukrainian prisoners of war in the occupied Yelenovka, but suggests that the available evidence "confirms the statements of Ukraine more than the Russians." In particular, according to analysts, fire damage is not typical for the operation of HIMARS.

According to American analysts, during the day, ground battles went north of Kharkov without significant changes in control over the area. Russian troops made a limited ground assault on the Kherson region and continued to conduct combat operations without creating strike groups on the occupied borders.

Russian regional media reported on the recruitment and creation of an additional "volunteer battalion" in the Republic of Buryatia and the formation of a reserve battalion in Novosibirsk.

The ISW also notes that members of the United Russia party were sent to the occupied territories of Ukraine in order to prepare the so-called "referenda". In particular, on July 29, a member of Putin's party, Oleg Melnichenko, opened a "humanitarian office" We are together with Russia in Tokmak, Zaporozhye region. At the same time, analysts note that the possibility of a Ukrainian counter-offensive on occupied Kherson could hinder Russian attempts to prepare for "referendums."

The building of one of the educational institutions in the Slobodsky district was damaged, a fire broke out there, which is already being extinguished by rescuers. Africa Subsaharan
The ugly truth about Nigeria's child trafficking
Just as America’s history of African chattel slavery is a small subset of a much vaster market back in Africa, so is the human trafficking of Africans seen in Europe and America a lucrative, but much smaller, subset of a common practice back home.
[DW] The trafficking of children in Nigeria for domestic service, sex work and forced surrogacy is rampant and lucrative. DW talks to two children about the horrors of their experiences.

CHILD TRAFFICKING RAMPANT
Timipriye, who has been working for her uncle's family for four years now, is a victim of child trafficking.

That is when children and young people are tricked, forced or persuaded to leave their homes, and are then moved somewhere and exploited for someone else's gain.

In Nigeria, children make up the largest group of trafficking victims. They are trafficked for many reasons, from domestic service like Timipriye to sexual exploitation, being used as child soldiers, forced begging, organ harvesting and even forced surrogacy in "baby farms" where they are impregnated and made to give birth.

Of the people trafficked in Nigeria, the highest proportion are girls between the ages of 12 and 17.

The vast majority, like Timipriye, are transported within Nigeria.

Whether someone moves 10 kilometers from one community to another, or thousands of kilometers to another continent, the "common denominator" for human trafficking is "exploitation," says Daniel Atokolo, Nigeria's National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking In Persons.

Though international organizations largely agree that Nigeria has improved its efforts to tackle trafficking, the scope of the problem is still enormous.

Almost 1.4 million individuals were living in modern slavery in Nigeria in 2018, according to an estimate by the Walk Free Foundation, an international human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
group that publishes a global slavery index.

TRICKED BY A TRUSTED ADULT
As is the case with Timipriye, it is often relatives, friends or trusted community members who either directly exploit trafficked children, or who procure the child for someone else.

Poverty is seen as the root cause of making children vulnerable to trafficking.

Recruiters are most likely to approach "the poorest and most vulnerable" and the "illiterate and psychologically weak" finds a study by the Pathfinders Justice Initiative, an organization working with Nigerian trafficking survivors.

FEW CONVICTIONS
These recruiters are seldom caught. The 2021 Trafficking in Persons report for Nigeria, compiled by the US government, reports only 36 convictions of traffickers.

The failure to hold traffickers to account means that the few survivors who manage to escape often still live in fear of violence, or fear of their families being harmed, if their traffickers find them.

This is the case with Ivie, who was trafficked to Italia and forced to into sex work when she was 15 after a trusted family friend promised to take her to Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
and find her a job as a babysitter and a place at a school.

Her traffickers locked Ivie up with no food until she caved into their wishes. The International Organization for Migration estimates that 80% of the young Nigerian women who arrive in Italia are likely forced into prostitution as sex trafficking victims.

Ivie escaped after she told her story to a client who had commented that she was too young to be doing sex work. He connected her with Catholic nuns who helped her escape and eventually return to Nigeria.

'White people will be the first target': South Africa's Julius Malema warns of impending 'violence' because 'the poor are getting poorer'
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Opposition figure warns of impending uprising in Africa's richest country

  • Julius Malema said there would be an 'Arab Spring' with white people targeted

  • Demanded immediate intervention by ruling ANC to improve living conditions

  • South Africa is struggling with high inflation and high unemployment
What an excellent argument in favor of the racism and colonialism we thought we'd put behind us.
Why argue with proven success. Malema and followers elect to use the Chicago, Atlanta, LA model. Or do I actually have it backwards.

Government Corruption
DOJ official named in FBI politicization allegations played role in Lois Lerner IRS scandal
[JustTheNews] Richard Pilger pushed idea of criminal prosecution of Tea Party groups' political speech, congressional evidence shows.

A senior Justice Department official recently flagged by a U.S. senator in an FBI whistleblower probe into alleged politicization of prosecutions played a key role in the Lois Lerner IRS scandal a decade ago in which conservative Tea Party groups were improperly targeted for scrutiny, government emails and congressional evidence shows.

Richard Pilger, the current chief of the DOJ Elections Crime Branch of the department's Public Integrity Section, engaged in discussions in 2010 and 2013 with Lerner and other IRS officials about ways to pursue criminal prosecutions of conservative nonprofits, the records show.

The discussion led the FBI, with Pilger's direct help, to obtain and review 1.1 million pages of documents from conservative groups and even ponder charging the groups with making false statements on their IRS applications as nonprofits because they had engaged in political speech activities, according to congressional investigators.

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, chaired then by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), concluded in 2014 that Pilger's discussions were part of a larger effort by the Obama administration to criminalize political speech by conservative groups that opposed the administration's agenda.

"These documents suggest that the Department actively considered prosecuting non-profit groups for their political activities," the final report concluded. "The Department went so far as to meet with the IRS about the investigation and to gather a 1.1 million-page database of information as potential evidentiary material. Even more astounding, the Department considered prosecuting non-profit groups for actions that are legal for 501(c)(4) groups under federal tax law — that is, for engaging in political speech."

The committee made public emails showing that in spring 2013 Pilger and Lerner discussed an idea Pilger had heard raised by a Democrat in Congress of bringing false statement cases against the conservative groups for the ways they filled out their IRS applications as 501c3 and 501c4 nonprofits.

"I got a call today from Richard Pilger, Director Election Crimes Branch at DOJ," Lerner wrote IRS colleagues in a May 8, 2013 email obtained by congressional investigators and Just the News. "I know him from contacts from my days there. He wanted to know who at IRS the DOJ folks could talk to about Sen. [Sheldon] Whitehouse idea at the hearing that DOJ could piece together false statement cases about applicants who 'lied' on their 1024s — saying they weren't planning on doing political activity, and then turning around and making large visible political expenditures.

"DOJ is feeling like it needs to respond, but want to talk to the right folks at IRS to see whether there are impediments from our side and what, if any damage, this may do to IRS programs."

The emails were first brought to light by a lawsuit a decade ago by Judicial Watch.

A DOJ spokesperson did not immediately respond to a call Thursday seeking comment on behalf of Pilger.

But in an interview with congressional investigators in 2014, Pilger revealed he actually began discussing strategies with Lerner for pursuing the conservative nonprofits for prosecution back in fall 2010, a few months after the Supreme Court opened up political spending through its landmark Citizens United ruling, the final report stated.

Pilger sent an email in October 2010 asking for a "good IRS contact re criminal tax enforcement against tax exempt organizations," the emails show.

Nancy Marks, an IRS criminal investigator, wrote an email back identifying a contact Pilger's team could use, but she also cautioned that there was no evidence of criminality known to the agency.

"Let him know that because this has not been an area which we've seen activity that rises to the level of criminal investigation it is pretty unfamiliar ground for anyone in the criminal tax enforcement area," Marks wrote in response to Pilger's inquiry.

Eventually, according to the congressional report and FBI emails, Pilger asked the IRS to provide him copies of the groups' tax filings and worked with Lerner to forward the evidence to the FBI.

"Thanks Lois. FBI says Raw format is best because they can put it into their systems like Excel," Pilger wrote Lerner in early October 2010.

Emails showed Pilger's boss in the Public Integrity Section, Jack Smith, started the entire process when he reacted to a New York Times article.

"Check out [the] article on front page of ny times [sic] regarding misuse of non-profits for indirectly funding campaigns," Smith wrote. "This seems egregious to me — could we ever charge a [18 U.S.C. §] 371 conspiracy to violate laws of the USA for misuse of such nonprofits to get around existing campaign finance laws + limits? I know 501s are legal but if they are knowingly using them beyond what they are allowed to use them for (and we could prove that factually)? IRS Commissioner sarah ingram [sic] oversees these groups. Let's discuss tomorrow but maybe we should try to set up a meeting this week."

The House committee sharply criticized the IRS-DOJ collaboration, concluding it wasn't driven by evidence of wrongdoing but rather by President Barack Obama's anger over the Citizens United court decision and bureaucrats' desire to show the president they could take some form of action.

"The Committee has uncovered evidence that the IRS sought to use its tremendous power to unilaterally rein in politically active non-profits soon after Citizens United," the final report stated. "From 2010 until 2013, the IRS planned and even attempted several methods of measuring and curbing the political activities of tax-exempt groups. These plans and attempts went beyond the IRS's duties as a neutral administrator of tax law, amounting to the informal regulation of non-profit political activity. Succumbing to the political pressure it faced, the IRS sought ways to make its actions public — in essence, to show that it was cracking down."

The committee's conclusions were backed up by numerous emails showing what the IRS and DOJ talked about during the time of Pilger's approach to Lerner. The emails referenced the "practicalities of criminally enforcing non-profit political speech" and the possibility that prosecutors might go "6103 fishing," a term meaning reviewing privacy-protected tax documents in hopes of finding evidence of wrongdoing, the congressional report concluded.

Jason Foster, a former Senate investigator who investigated the IRS scandal a decade ago and now heads the Empower Oversight whistleblower group, said the "fishing" reference was one of the more damaging pieces of evidence to emerge in the congressional investigations.

"So 6103 is this section of the tax code that's supposed to make sure that your tax records are protected from political abuse by bureaucrats like this," Foster told the "Just the News, Not Noise" television show Thursday night. "But that's exactly what they sort of explicitly talk about. That's what they were doing: fishing."

In the end, the Obama administration repudiated the efforts of its own IRS to target conservative nonprofits as "inexcusable," and Lerner invoked her 5th amendment right against self-incrimination to avoid testifying before Congress.

The House also voted to find her in contempt of Congress. But the Obama DOJ chose not to pursue criminal charges against Lerner, unlike the prosecution the department recently completed of former Trump adviser Steve Bannon.

And while the IRS scandal has now mostly been relegated to the history books, Pilger's name resurfaced Monday when Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Foster's old boss in the Senate, revealed in a letter to FBI Director Chris Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland that multiple FBI whistleblowers have raised concerns that agents and DOJ officials are politically tampering with investigations.

Grassley's letter did not mention Pilger, but he cited the DOJ official in an official statement from his Senate office.

"Whistleblowers allege that Washington Field Office Assistant Special Agent in Charge Timothy Thibault disregarded agency guidelines requiring substantial factual predication to trigger investigations, while declining to move forward with other investigations despite proper predication," the senator wrote.

"Thibault and Richard Pilger, director of the election crimes branch within the FBI's public integrity section, reportedly were instrumental in the opening of an investigation into the Trump campaign and its associates based in substantial part on information from left-aligned organization," he added. "Whistleblowers claim that Thibault, Pilger and others didn't always adhere to agency policies in their supervision of various election-related matters, including campaign finance investigations across multiple presidential election cycles."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran says Swedish national arrested over alleged espionage
[DW] The unnamed Swedish citizen had been monitored over several trips due to "suspicious behavior," according to state media, citing the Intelligence Ministry.

State media in Iran
...The nation is noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence...
on Saturday reported the arrest of a Swedish national on spying charges.

"The Intelligence Ministry announced that a citizen of the Kingdom of Sweden was arrested on espionage charges," state news agency IRNA said.

"The suspect had been under surveillance by the Intelligence Ministry during several previous trips to Iran because of [their] suspicious behavior and contacts ... for visiting cities that were entirely outside of tourist destinations," the news agency quoted the ministry as saying.

Sweden's Foreign Ministry said it was aware of the case. "This is a known and ongoing case which the Foreign Ministry has been working on for a while," a spokeswoman said in an emailed comment to the Rooters news agency.

SWEDEN AND IRAN'S STRAINED RELATIONS
Relations between the countries have soured of late. Earlier this month, a Swedish court sentenced a former Iranian official to life in prison for participating in the 1988 mass killings of locked away
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
dissidents.

The conviction and sentence has led to fears of reprisals against Western prisoners held by the Islamic Theocratic Republic.

Iran slammed the verdict, with the Foreign Ministry saying it was "politically motivated" and had "no legal validity."

Tehran summoned the Swedish charge d'affaires and handed him a note of protest.

Iran's elite Revolutionary Guard has arrested dozens of dual nationals and foreigners in recent years, mostly on espionage and security-related charges.

Rights groups have accused the Islamic Theocratic Republic of trying to win concessions from other countries through arrests on trumped-up charges. Tehran denies the accusations.
Iran said on Saturday it had arrested a Swedish national on allegations of espionage, without providing details on the suspect’s identity nor the date of their detention.

The statement said the suspect was in touch with several other figures in Iran, and has visited Israel, Iran’s foe. The statement accused Sweden of proxy spying for Israel.

In early May, the Swedish foreign ministry said a Swede in his 30s had been arrested in Iran.

It was not immediately clear if the announcement on Saturday referred to that man or another Swede.

"In all the previous trips, the suspect... communicated with a number of European and non-European suspects who were under surveillance in Iran," the statement read.

"The suspect in question re-entered the country a few months ago after the arrest of another European spy" to collect information, it alleged, adding the suspect had been taken into custody while leaving Iran.

The intelligence ministry said the suspect had visited Israel, the Islamic republic’s arch-enemy, before going to Iran.

It also alleged Sweden had "supported several proxy spies" for Israel, including Ahmadreza Djalali, a Swedish-Iranian academic sentenced to death in the Islamic republic.

Djalali’s sentence was issued in 2017 after he was convicted of passing information about two Iranian nuclear scientists to Israel’s Mossad spy agency that led to their liquidations.

He was granted Swedish citizenship the following year.

His case was followed by the trial in Stockholm of Hamid Noury, a former official in Iran’s judiciary accused of war crimes over the killing of prisoners in Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites....
during the 1980s.

Noury received a life sentence from a Swedish court on July 14. Iran dismissed the verdict as "political" and has called for his release.

Baby formula crisis WORSENS as out-of-stock levels hit 70%: Parents accuse Biden of forgetting about them and mom struggling to feed twins says 'I'm sure these politicians' babies eat'
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • The US reported a 30% out-of-stock rate for formula nationwide, based on data from the week ended July 24

  • Arizona and Wyoming reported the highest out-of-stock rates in the country, at 44% and 42% respectively

  • Biden tried to alleviate the crisis by making it it easier for foreign manufacturers to get shipments into the US

  • Regardless, parents struggling to feed their babies feel like the Administration 'just forgot' about the crisis

  • Amber Bergeron, who took to Facebook about the hardships of finding formula for her preemie twins, has described the ongoing crisis as 'disgusting,' noting she is 'sure these politicians' babies eat

  • Chris Arroyo, whose daughter needs a speciality formula, said he is frustrated that the Administration keeps giving families the vague timeline of 'upcoming weeks' when discussing solutions to the ongoing shortage

  • The rising out-of-stock rates come as it was revealed Abbott Laboratories, the largest formula producer in the US, was hit with another lawsuit this week by a parent alleging their products contributed to a baby death

  • A new report also revealed the FDA started probing the factory after a stun gun was deployed at the facility and a fed-up employee complained about plant safety
And let us not forget the empty shelves that were the hallmark of the Trump years... No. Wait...

Army contains clash between Hezbollah members, Rmeish residents
[An Nahar] Hezbollah members clashed overnight with residents of the southern border town of Rmeish, prompting the army to intervene to contain the situation.

During the clash, residents of the town reportedly urged UNIFIL forces to protect them from "button men surrounding the town."

According to media reports, the incident started when a Rmeish resident was chopping wood in the Qatmoun area in the outskirts of his town. But "Hezbollah members intercepted him and prevented him from continuing his work, opening fire in the area," the reports added.

On social media, Hezbollah supporters accused the Rmeish man of "cutting trees to expose a resistance post, as Israeli bulldozers were also cutting trees on the occupied side of the border." Other Hezbollah supporters meanwhile said that the incident will not affect Christian-Moslem coexistence in the area.

Anti-Hezbollah activists meanwhile said that "after the tough response from Bkirki against Haret Hreik in the wake of the detention of Archbishop Moussa al-Hajj, Hezbollah has started provocations in the border areas, as if the Christians of the Lebanese south are an easy prey."

"Lebanese Energy Minister Walid Fayyad has agreed to accept the Iranian fuel grant. Let us await this grant and prepare for electricity in our homes," Geagea tweeted.

Geagea had on Wednesday called on the government to "agree to Sayyed His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah

"I’m not saying this because I believe that this will happen, but rather not to leave the Lebanese people subjected to totally baseless statements," Geagea added.

Separately, Geagea lamented Saturday that "the Higher Judicial Council has not acted, except through formalities, after more than two weeks passed since Archbishop Moussa al-Hajj’s incident happened and more than a year from the violations that were committed by Judge Fadi Akiki."

"The Higher Judicial Council is asked to shoulder its responsibilities as soon as possible to preserve what’s left of the judiciary’s image," Geagea added.

Biden gets Covid for 2nd time since 20 July
[CNN] President Joe Biden tested positive for Covid-19 again Saturday [30 July] morning,
Harris dies in a plane crash
Biden, 79, first tested positive on July 21. During his first bout with the disease, he experienced mild symptoms, including runny nose, fatigue, high temperature and a cough, according to his doctor. The President completed a five-day course of Paxlovid, which requires a doctor's prescription and is available via emergency use authorization from the US Food and Drug Administration for treatment of mild to moderate Covid-19 in people 12 and older who are at high risk of severe illness.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a health alert to doctors on May 24 advising that Covid-19 symptoms sometimes come back, and that may just be how the infection plays out in some people, regardless of whether they're vaccinated or treated with medications like Paxlovid.

Biden is fully vaccinated and received two booster shots. He received his first two doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine ahead of his inauguration in January 2021, his first booster shot in September and his second booster vaccination in March

Palestinian dies days after being shot by IDF while nearing West Bank military post
[IsraelTimes] Hussein Qawariq’s family says he had mental disability; military says man failed to respond to warnings; it is probing the incident.

An unarmed Paleostinian man who was shot by Israeli soldiers earlier this week as he approached a military post near Nablus died Saturday.

Hussein Qawariq, 59, from the West Bank village of Awarta, was shot on Tuesday by Israel Defense Forces troops manning a position in Huwara, near Nablus, the military and Paleostinian Authority health ministry said.
Aimed? Why would a man on the cusp of old age suddenly approach Israeli soldiers for the first time?
The IDF said troops called on Qawariq to stop moving toward their location and fired warning shots into the air. When he failed to heed their warnings, he was shot.

Huwara mayor Wajih Odeh told AFP Qawariq was "mentally disabled." He "used to collect bottles and cans from the street and ask for money from businesses in the area," he said.

Qawariq’s family too said he had a "mental disorder," the official Paleostinian news agency Wafa reported.

Qawariq was taken to Rabin Medical Center in Petah Tikva, where he eventually succumbed to his wounds.

The IDF said an investigation into the incident was underway.

Withheld Records Reveal 19,000 Mail-In Ballots Illegally Received AFTER Deadline in Maricopa County 2020 Election
[Gateway] After numerous records requests and months of waiting for responses, Verity Vote found that Maricopa County received and counted tens of thousands of ballots after the election day deadline.

This evidence was not mentioned by the weak Arizona Attorney General during his failed investigation into the 2020 Election.

There was also a spike in votes accepted and counted in the days after the November 3rd Presidential Election.

The Epoch Times reported,

Voters were instructed to mail ballots by Oct. 27 to be sure their ballots arrived on time. By Oct. 30, the number of ballots coming by mail dropped sharply, but then spiked the day after the election.

On Oct. 28, the county received 58,500 ballots from the post office, then:

This can be explained by Dinesh D’Souza and True the Vote’s "2000 Mules" investigation, which discovered a nationwide ballot trafficking ring that was used to steal the 2020 Election through unsecured dropboxes. The film explains how the ballot Mules created a large influx of late-early ballots to overwhelm the system and rush ballots through the counting process.

The sustainable cities made from mud
[BBC] In Yemen's ancient walled city of Sana'a mud skyscrapers soar high into the sky. The towering structures are built entirely out of rammed earth and decorated with striking geometric patterns. The earthen buildings blend into the nearby ochre-coloured mountains.

Sana'a's mud architecture is so unique that the city has been recognised as a Unesco World Heritage site.

"As an outstanding example of a homogeneous architectural ensemble reflecting the spatial characteristics of the early years of Islam, the city in its landscape has an extraordinary artistic and pictorial quality," Unesco writes in its description of Sana'a. "The buildings demonstrate exceptional craftsmanship in the use of local materials and techniques."

Even though the buildings in Sana'a are thousands of years old, they remain "terribly contemporary", says Salma Samar Damluji, co-founder of the Daw'an Mud Brick Architecture Foundation in Yemen and author of The Architecture of Yemen and its Reconstruction. The ancient structures are still inhabited today and most remain private residences.

Damluji says it is easy to see why these mud buildings have not lost their appeal — they are well-insulated, sustainable and extremely adaptable for modern use. "It is the architecture of the future," says Damluji.

Architects around the world are reviving raw-earth construction as they seek to construct sustainable buildings that can withstand extreme weather events such as flash floods and intense heat. Could this ancient form of architecture influence the design of our future homes and cities? Could this back-to-basics technique provide an important solution to the climate crisis?

Russian spy is charged with stoking racial division in US by funding Florida-based black socialist movement that organized petition claiming America is committing 'GENOCIDE against African people'
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Russian national Alexander Ionov is accused of attempting sow unrest in the United States by infiltrating various political groups

  • The main focus of Ionov, 32's, efforts was the Florida-based African People's Socialist Party

  • Following the announcement of the charges against Ionov, the group's headquarters was raided by the FBI

  • One of their leaders said in a press conference: 'We are on the side of Russia'

  • Ionov lives in Moscow and is not in custody

  • In a lengthy Facebook post, Ionov denied the allegations adding: 'I have been and will be a friend of many Americans'

Wikipedia, which does not mention how many dozens comprise the membership over the entire history of the organization:
The African Peoples Socialist Party (APSP) is an African Internationalist organization working towards reparations for slavery in the United States, identifying ideologically with African internationalism and African socialism.[1] The party was formed in May 1972 by the merger of three black power organizations based in Florida and Kentucky. Omali Yeshitela, one of the original co-founders, leads the APSP as of 2019.[2][1][3]

The APSP's stated goals are "to keep the Black Power Movement alive, defend the countless Africans locked up by the counterinsurgency, and develop relationships with Africa and Africans worldwide".[4]

The APSP and its sister organization the Uhuru Movement have been accused of collaborating with alleged Russian foreign agent Aleksandr Viktorovich Ionov to sow social divisions in the United States.[5] Members of the APSP and Uhuru Movement have traveled to St. Petersburg to attend an anti-globalization conference hosted by Russia. The party has also acknowledged that it supports Russia in its invasion of Ukraine.[6][7]

The APSP was founded in 1972 — emerging from three earlier Black organisations in Florida, namely: the Junta of Militant Organizations (JOMO), the Black Rights Fighters, and the Black Study Group. JOMO, the most influential of the three organisations then led by Yeshitela, was a Black organisation protesting against racial discrimination, and racist police brutality and abuses against people of African descent in Florida, United States.

Soros-Linked Manhattan DA Defends Freeing Teen Who Attacked NYPD Officer
[BREITBART] Manhattan, New York City District Attorney Alvin Bragg, with financial ties to billionaire George Soros
...either Ernst Stavro Blofeld or Auric Goldfinger come true...
, is defending his office’s freeing without bail a 16-year-old suspect who was captured on video brutally assaulting a New York City Police Department (NYPD) officer.

As Breitbart News reported this week, the suspect was caught on camera in the subway assaulting the officer — putting him in a chokehold, dragging him, and repeatedly punching him in the face.

The suspect had been freed without bail for beating a stranger in a violent mostly peaceful robbery just three days before the attack thanks to New York’s "No Bail" law, first imposed by former Gov. Andrew Sonny Cuomo (D) and supported by sitting Gov. Kathy Hochul (D).

In the attack on the NYPD officer, the suspect was again freed from jail without bail by Bragg’s office, which is now defending the decision in a statement to the Daily Mail.

"Our system must respond to children as children and intensive community monitoring was the appropriate pre-trial determination for a fifteen-year-old child with no previous arrests," Bragg spokeswoman Emily Tuttle said, adding:

Violence against our coppers is unacceptable and given his age at the time of arrest, we consented to send his second case to Family Court as soon as possible, where he would receive the age-appropriate interventions and supports he needs while being held accountable.

Bragg was elected in November 2021 with indirect backing from Soros, who gave $1 million to the Color of Change PAC,
... a 501c4 co-founded in 2005 by Van Jones, Barack Obama’s “green jobs czar,” and former MoveOn.org director James Rucker. It’s one of the Democracy Alliance’s anti-police groups, the Democracy Alliance being yet another secretive group of very, very rich Progressive donors spending to change the world without feeling a need to consult the residents...
which spent to elect Bragg.

Mayor Eric Adams (D) blasted the suspect’s release from jail without bail, calling New York City’s criminal justice system a nationwide "laughingstock" in a presser.

"When I say, ’We are the laughingstock of the country,’ this is what I’m talking about," Adams said of the case. "How do we keep our cities safe when the other parts of the criminal justice system — they have abandoned our public safety apparatus."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Hezbollah hints it’s ready for a war over gas — but knows Lebanon can’t afford one
[IsraelTimes] As Israel prepares for potential conflict over offshore gas extraction, experts say Nasrallah’s threats are mostly an effort to stay relevant, but they also keep him dangerous

By beating war drums and ramping up military provocations, Lebanon Hezbollahstan
...a formerly French, now an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. ...
’s Hezbollah terror group has been doing everything to indicate it is ready to wage war with Israel over offshore gas extraction near a disputed maritime border between the countries.

Israel, meanwhile, has become increasingly concerned by the ever-escalating rhetoric of the Iranian-backed group’s leader, His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah
...The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...
, and has been preparing for potential conflict.

But some experts believe Nasrallah’s bluster and threats will not translate into significant action. Rather, they signify Hezbollah’s effort to regain popularity back home as Lebanon faces a major financial and social crisis, as well as to stay relevant as a threat to Israel.

Israel and Lebanon, which do not have diplomatic relations, have been engaged in indirect talks mediated by the US over the rights to the Karish gas field and to demarcate a contested maritime border between the two countries.

US Energy Envoy Amos Hochstein has recently been visiting the region to get Lebanon to come down from its claim to a massive maritime zone that includes Karish, which Israel seeks to develop as it tries to position itself as a natural gas supplier to Europe.

Lebanon’s financial situation, which has been spiraling out of control since 2019, has been branded by the World Bank as one of the world’s worst economic crises since the 1850s. Meanwhile,
...back at the Council of Boskone, Helmuth ordered the entire 614th quadrant searched. The Green Lensman must be found!...
the country faces major political chaos, exacerbated by the deadly 2020 Beirut port explosion.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
War in Ukraine. Summary 07/30/2022
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin:

[ColonelCassad] 1. Artyomovsk.
Fighting in the Veselaia Valley area. After the capture of Klinovoye and Pokrovsky, the RF Armed Forces intensify the defeat of enemy positions on the outskirts of Artemovsk and concentrations of forces to the west of the city.

To the south-east of Artemovsk, the RF Armed Forces, after clearing the Uglegorsk TPP and Novolugansk, took part of Semigorye and are expanding their zone of control in the area of Novolugansk and Dolomitnoye. After the end of the battles for Semigorye, we can expect the start of full-fledged battles for Kodema. The enemy continued shelling from heavy MLRS targets in the depths of the LDNR.

2. Soledar.
Fights in Bakhmutsky, Belogorovka, Yakovlevka.
Fighting on the eastern outskirts of Soledar. In the city, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are striking at locations and concentrations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the outskirts.

3. Seversk.
After the transfer of reserves from the Slavic direction, the enemy was able to stabilize the front and continues to hold key heights around Seversk. The Seversk-Soledar road is also controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, although it is exposed to artillery fire from the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

Fights in the area of Serebryanka, Verkhnekamensky, Ivano-Daryevka.

4. Kharkov.
Fights in the area of Upper Saltov, Lower Passages, Nursery, Liptsov, Tsupovka, Uda. There are unconfirmed reports of the advance of the RF Armed Forces near Borshcheva. Intense attacks on Kharkov, Chuguev, Zolochev. The Armed Forces of Ukraine fired on Cossack Lopan and border villages. Several concentrations of enemy forces were destroyed in Kharkov.

5. Slavyansk.
Positional battles in the area of Prishib, Sidorov, Dolina, Bogorodichny. There are no serious advances at the front. Attacks on the Slavic-Kramatorsk agglomeration, on Krasnoarmeysk. There is a noticeable bias in the hunt for heavy artillery of the enemy and the remaining air defense systems.

On the Izyum direction - without any changes. Moderately intense fighting in the area of Bolshaya Kamyshevakhi, Kurulka. In the Balakleya area - no changes.

6. Avdievka.
To the north of Avdievka, fighting along the Avdiivka-Konstantinovka highway, in the area of Kamenka and New York - without significant progress.

To the south of Avdievka, the DPR army is stepping up pressure on Peski and Krasnohorivka, having achieved advancement through a continuous enemy fortified area.

The attack on Avdievka does not promise any immediate success. It is possible that all this will eventually turn out to be restrictive actions to prevent the Armed Forces of Ukraine from transferring reserves to other directions.

7. Ugledar.
Positional fights. Fighting near Novomikhailovka, in Marinka. To the east of Velikaya Novoselka, the enemy attacked unsuccessfully in the direction of Novopol.

On our part, they say that they are strengthening control over the villages south of Velikaya Novoselovka. Positional tendencies dominate here. It was from this direction that Ukrainian prisoners in the Yelenovskaya colony were destroyed by a HIMARS MLRS strike.

8. Zaporozhye.
On the line Kamenskoye-Orekhov-Gulyaipole - without significant changes. Medium-intensity combat operations. The enemy launches missile strikes on Melitopol and Tokmak, reinforces the grouping in Zaporozhye, which, if possible, can launch attacks in the direction of Vasilyevka, Tokmak and Pologi, which can become an alternative to the “attack on Kherson” (another fallback option is Balakleya in the Izyum direction) .

9. Nikolaev.
The enemy, after weeks of chatter about the "attack on Kherson," switched to chatter about the "offensive of the RF Armed Forces on Nikolaev."

Unsuccessful attempts at offensives near Vysokopole, Davydov Brod, Belogorka showed the costly nature of the attacks, and that in order to achieve success in the conditions of dominant aviation and unsuppressed artillery, much more forces and readiness to bear more serious losses are required. Therefore, now the emphasis is on strikes on bridges across the Dnieper and ammunition depots of the RF Armed Forces, as well as terrorist attacks on territories liberated from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the Nikolaevsky, Krivorozhsky and Nikopol directions are still on the defensive. There is a build-up of forces and an increasing systematic strikes against Nikolaev.
The most dangerous for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is the Krivoy Rog direction. The offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Nikolaev seems unlikely.

10. Odessa, Dzerzhinsk, Sumy - no change.

RUMINT.
[Sputnik] Info on Plane Suspected to Be Carrying Pelosi Apparently Yanked From FlightRadar After Being Spotted

SPAR19, a United States Air Force Boeing C-40 Clipper aircraft thought to be carrying Nancy Pelosi, has disappeared from flight tracking service FlightRadar24 after being monitored by as many as 79,000 users at one point.

Searching for the SPAR19 callsign or the aircraft’s registration number – 09-0540, brings up a “live flight not found” popup indicating that the plane is “either out of coverage or has already landed.” Users who click “show aircraft history” are met with a “Sorry, historical data for this aircraft is not available” notice.
The plane was last spotted coming in for a landing at the Hickam Air Force Base outside Honolulu, after taking off from the Travis Air Force Base near Fairfield, California and making its way west across the Pacific to Hawaii. The plane arrived in California earlier in the day Saturday for a one hour stopover following a cross-continental flight from Joint Base Andrews outside Washington, DC.

SPAR19 became FlightRadar24’s most tracked aircraft amid suspicions that Pelosi was onboard, with users tagging the plane with various comments, from “And so it begins” to “WW3 voyage” amid concerns over the implications of her possible trip to Taiwan amid warnings by Chinese officials to stay away.

Pelosi herself has not provided any details about her travel plans. On Friday, she told reporters that she never talks about her travel itinerary, “because, as some of you know, it’s a security issue.”

#3  On a more serious note...

I have found the conduct of Nancy Pelosi reprehensible for many years. The usual corruption between her and her husband is only a mild irritation -- it is her arrogance. Nancy Pelosi wants America remade into a parliamentary democracy and she will preside as Prime Minister For Life™.

Arrogance personified in her attempts to usurp the foreign affairs authority of the Executive Branch. I remember her attempts to scuttle any relationship with al-Maliki and the the Iraqi government (corrupt and repulsive as he may be) in the period around the 2006 midterms. Today she wants to insert herself as THE Power Broker™ in Pacific Politics, perhaps for the corrupt money, but certainly because of Vanity. (At this point I feel no charitable impulse that her motives are for her duties as a elected US Representative under the US Constitution she swore to uphold.)

Shore up Guam, loiter a few B2s and be prepared to meet the 100 fighters Beijing will try to swarm The Speaker's plane with. My gut tells me she will back down if a bipartisan representation of the Congress do not accompany her.

Another example of the LSD's total disregard of the US Constitution and the Citizen's owned Bill of Rights.

Given, they already have information censorship, food, medical and freedom of travel pretty much under control. They must act before Mid-terms due to their inability to win elections honestly.

They understand, CITIZENS are fed up with their increasingly Socialist style of governance. Which is naturally forcing them to take the ability of the Citizen's Serf class to protect themselves from Foreign and Domestic threats away, in order to protect their immoral and illegal activities.
