Exclusive from Gen. Flynn: If We Don't Act, 2% of the People Are About To Control the Other 98%
[Western Journal] I was once told if we’re not careful, 2 percent of the passionate will control 98 percent of the indifferent 100 percent of the time.

The more I’ve thought about this phrase, the more I believe it. There is now a small group of passionate people working hard to destroy our American way of life. Treason and treachery are rampant and our rule of law and those law enforcement professionals who uphold our laws are under the gun more than at any time in our nation’s history. These passionate 2 percent appear to be winning.

Despite there being countless good people trying to come to grips with everything else on their plates, our silent majority (the indifferent) can no longer be silent.

If the United States wants to survive the onslaught of socialism, if we are to continue to enjoy self-government and the liberty of our hard-fought freedoms, we have to understand there are two opposing forces: One is the "children of light" and the other is the "children of darkness."

As I recently wrote, the art and exercise of self-governance require active participation by every American. I wasn’t kidding! And voting is only part of that active participation. Time and again, the silent majority have been overwhelmed by the "audacity and resolve" of small, well-organized, passionate groups. It’s now time for us, the silent majority (the indifferent), to demonstrate both.

The trials of our current times, like warfare, are immense and consequences severe and these seem inconquerable.

As a policewoman from Virginia told me, "People don’t feel safe in their homes and our police force is so demoralized we cannot function as we should. In my 23 years with my department, I have never seen morale so low."

Another woman from Mississippi told me that we need our leaders to "drop a forceful hammer. People are losing patience. It simply must be stopped! Laws MUST be enforced ... no one is above the law."

Don’t fret. Through smart, positive actions of resolute citizen-patriots, we can prevail. Always keep in mind that our enemy (these dark forces) invariably have difficulties of which we are ignorant.

French government resigns as Macron vows 'new course'
[France24] The French government resigned Friday ahead of a cabinet reshuffle that President Emmanuel Macron says will set out a "new course" as the country grapples with the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic.

A government source confirmed to AFP that Prime Minister Edouard Philippe would be leaving his job after serving Macron since the president came to power in 2017 elections.

However, there was still no firm clue over who a successor might be, with the replacement also facing the task of rescuing the fortunes of the ruling party following a stinging defeat in local elections at the weekend.

Macron, who has pursued ambitious economic reforms since coming to office in 2017, has already admitted that the recession caused by the health crisis would require the government to shift tack.

In an interview with regional newspapers published late Thursday, Macron said France must prepare for a "very difficult" economic crisis, "so we have to chart a new course."

"I see this based on an economic, social, environmental and cultural reconstruction," he said. "Behind this, there will be a new team."

An Elysee Palace official told AFP that a new prime minister would be named "in the coming hours," and possibly the new cabinet cast as well.

Sources later confirmed that Philippe would not be re-nominated for the post he has held for the past three years, pushing through a series of controversial overhauls that sparked massive strikes as well as the fierce "yellow vest" anti-government revolt.

Speculation that Philippe was on the way out mounted this week after Macron's centrist party was routed in municipal elections last Sunday and Greens took control of several major cities.

Philippe, a right-wing politician who never joined Macron's Republic on the Move party, easily won his bid to become mayor of Le Havre.

But while Philippe's approval ratings have surged over his handling of the coronavirus crisis, Macron was widely expected to try to burnish his social justice credentials with a more centrist or leftwing premier.

"A new phase is opening, with new talents and new methods for governing," the Elysee official said Friday.

- HEAVY TURNOVER -
At a meeting Thursday, Macron and Philippe "agreed on the need for a new government to embody a new phase for this term," the source said.

Press reports have suggested that possible replacements could include defence minister Florence Parly or foreign minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, both Socialists before joining Macron's team.

Other names being floated are those of Valerie Pecresse, president of the Ile-de-France region encompassing Paris, or Jean Castex, who is piloting the government's cautious lifting of its coronavirus restrictions.

But analysts say Macron has a thin bench of potential replacements, not least because his young party has failed to produce any standouts from its parliamentary ranks -- meaning he could tap someone relatively unknown to the public.

Among other officials who could be replaced is interior minister Christophe Castaner, who has been assailed by critics over the failure to contain the rioting and looting that marred the "yellow vest" protests of 2018-2019.

Already since the start of Macron's presidency, a total of 17 ministers have quit the government, most recently Agnes Buzyn, who stepped down as health minister in a doomed bid to wrest the Paris mayor job from Socialist Anne Hidalgo.

Roberts Court Screws Up - Enforces US Constitution
[Conservative Brief via Whatfinger Dumpster]

In 2013, that Policy Requirement, as it is known, was held to be an unconstitutional restraint on free speech when applied to American organizations...

Because plaintiffs’ foreign affiliates possess no First Amendment rights, applying the Policy Requirement to them is not unconstitutional. Two bedrock legal principles lead to this conclusion. As a matter of American constitutional law, foreign citizens outside U. S. territory do not possess rights under the U. S. Constitution.

China-Japan-Koreas
Russia is just a smokescreen for Democrats' shameful double standard on China
American Thinker
Russia has always been a nuisance, and probably always will be.

It is the biggest country in the world geographically. Many of the world’s greatest novels (War & Peace, Crime & Punishment), greatest composers (Tchaikovsky), high arts (ballet), and scientific achievements (Sputnik) come from Russia. It's a nation with much to be proud of, but it has never accepted into the Oxford and Harvard clubs (much like Donald Trump), and it never will be.

Russia has always been at pains to win respect on the world stage, even in its post-Soviet era. When it can't, the huge nation acts out, like the guy at the frat party who, because the cool kids can’t be bothered with him, turns to mischief by pouring some vile fluid into the punch bowl or instigates a cowardly cyberattack.

Valid or not, everyone knows Russia is no superpower. It is no economic force. Although Russia does have nuclear weapons, what Russia seeks is influence and prestige, not a kamikaze mission.

Russia’s population is a mere 140 million compared to, say, China’s, which is 1.4 billion.

What is the liberal media's and Democratic Party’s obsession with Russia, and not China, all about then? Very likely to take the heat off China, and its far-too accommodating relationship with China.

...Every American with common sense understands some basic things about this year. March seems long ago now, given all the news, but we have not forgotten about the devastation the coronavirus has brought upon our nation: That's the work of China. China’s malfeasance in diminishing the threat of the Wuhan coronavirus has caused the deaths of more than 100,000 Americans.

While Donald Trump was restricting flights from China to save American lives, the Democrats and Joe Biden were urging Americans to have lunch in Chinatown and screaming "hysterical xenophobia." Anyone with a brain knows that the best way to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in our country is to prevent those who are infected from entering our borders.

...Let’s assume that Russia did offer bounties for killing American troops in Afghanistan. That is horrible and will be dealt with accordingly. Certainly our covert operatives repay any injury against Americans to Russia in kind.

However, the front page coverage and urgency of these reports shouldn’t fool any common-sense American. Blowing Russia up to being the main threat to America, instead of China serves to distract Americans from the first truth that the Democrats not only covered up for China, but parroted their propaganda. Chinese propaganda began with denouncing any bid to focus on China’s cover-up of the pandemic as racist speech.

Russia also is a convenient bogeyman to cover up for the fact that woke American business leaders (NBA, Goldman Sachs, Lebron James, Nike) continue to do business with China, a major human rights violator. Joe Biden's son Hunter, also made millions at least from his involvement with China's government-linked operations.

...If the average American fully understood the threat China poses (Antifa, for starters, would be disappeared by the Xi Jinping regime), there should be no mistake where our energies as a people need to be directed: toward raising awareness that the privileges and values we live and breathe every day are under threat by China.

But instead what America gets is news organizations who give front page treatment of Russia skullduggery on the very day democracy in Hong Kong formally died.

US Supreme Court declines to hear bid by Iraqis to avoid deportation
[Jpost] The US Supreme Court on Thursday declined to hear a bid by a large group of Iraqis convicted of crimes in the United States to prevent imminent deportation to their home country where they say they could face persecution and torture.

The justices let stand a lower court's 2018 ruling that the federal judiciary lacked the authority to stop the planned deportations. The Iraqis had argued that the US Constitution's so-called suspension clause — relating to a person's ability to challenge confinement by the government — empowered courts to review their claims.

The case involves approximately 1,400 Iraqis in the United States who were ordered deported years or even decades ago because of criminal convictions. They were able to remain in the United States because Iraq had refused to repatriate them. The diplomatic situation changed in 2017, however, when Iraq struck a deal with the United States to repatriate its citizens.

The US government then conducted raids and detained hundreds of the Iraqis as part of a larger push by President Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons......
to increase immigration enforcement.

The Iraqis, represented by the American Civil Liberties Union, sued the US government in federal court in bankrupt, increasingly impoverished, reliably Democrat, Detroit
... ruled by Democrats since 1962. A city whose Golden Age included the Purple Gang...
to try to halt the deportations.

The Iraqis, many of whom are Christian, have said face likely torture and death in Iraq. They wanted US courts to halt the deportations so they could reopen their cases before immigration judges and present new evidence that they should be allowed to stay because they faced possible torture.
You should have thought of that before you broke our laws, guys. If you are Christian, you know what the rules are — Muslims are working from a deficit by comparison. Not that they cannot overcome the programming, but it’s easier to relapse.
A judge in Detroit ruled for the Iraqis in 2018, but the Cincinnati, Ohio-based 6th US Circuit Court of Appeals reversed the decision.

In another case raising similar issues, the Supreme Court on June 25 enhanced the ability of the US government to quickly deport illegal immigrants colonists including asylum seekers with limited judicial review.

Fifth Column
Protesters in Black Lives Matter march demonstrate against Israel in DC
[Jpost] The chant "Israel, we know you murder children, too" could be heard amid "Black Lives Matter" and "Paleostinian Lives Matter" chants.
Excellent, excellent, excellent...fully opened Kemono !
Protesters at a demonstration in Washington, DC, linking Black Lives Matter and the Paleostinian cause chanted "Israel, we know you, you murder children, too."

The demonstration Wednesday was billed as an event in support of the Day of Rage called by the Paleostinian Authority and other groups to protest Israel’s announced plan to annex up to 30% of the West Bank on or after July 1.

A staff writer for The Washington Examiner, Nicolas Rowan, posted a video of some of the march on Twitter.

Chants also alternated between "Black lives matter!" and "Paleostinian lives matter!"

The march, from the Lincoln Memorial to the Capitol building, was led by a Harvard student, Christian Tabash,
...who identifies as an outraged Palestinian man living in America, but just looks white...
who read a poem about Israel’s crimes against Paleostinian Moslems, according to the Examiner. The poem referred to Israel as "puppet master of continents," an age-old conspiracy theory that Jews run the world.

Tabash, a rising senior, also noted several times that the Paleostinian movement is "intrinsically tied to Black Lives Matter" and called to defund police departments.

The Republican Jewish Coalition in response said in a statement: "We are horrified by this vicious hatemongering by Black Lives Matter protesters. The Black Lives Matter charter is filled with anti-Israel and antisemitic lies. It is deeply disturbing, but not surprising, to hear those sentiments chanted in the streets of Washington, DC."
The National Council of Young Israel (NCYI) called on elected officials and African-American leaders to condemn the link between the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement and the Boycott, Divestment and Sanction (BDS) movement after protesters cried anti-Israel chants.

The Washington, DC march was one of many across the United States held in accordance with the Palestinian Authority's call for a "Day of Rage" to protest Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's annexation plan, which would extend Israeli sovereignty over parts of the West Bank. Shouts against Netanyahu could also be heard during the protests.

In light of the occurrence, the NCYI called on officials to condemn the matter, which is not the first of its kind. Many reports have been made documenting antisemitic and/or anti-Israel acts of violence that have occurred in connection with the recent BLM and police brutality protests that have taken hold both in the United States and globally.

“While we absolutely agree that the issue of race in America is something that must be duly addressed on a national level, it is sickening to see that the Black Lives Matter movement has been co-opted by people who wear their antisemitic beliefs on their sleeves,” said NCYI President Farley Weiss.

“Whether it is yelling antisemitic comments during a march in our nation’s capital or vandalizing and defacing synagogues and Jewish-owned businesses in Los Angeles with antisemitic messages during a protest, these blatant expressions of bigotry are intolerable and must end," he continued. "By poisoning protests with anti-Israel declarations and antisemitic remarks, some of the individuals who so desperately seek justice and an end to racism are themselves engaging in abhorrent and hypocritical behavior that fans the flames of bigotry and hate.

“Ever since it issued a platform in 2016 which described Israel as an ‘apartheid state’ that commits ‘genocide,’ the Black Lives Matter movement has regrettably become intertwined with anti-Semitic tendencies, which detracts from their underlying mission,” Weiss added.

Related article from the Middle East Eye names a number of other Arab-American activists who also support BLM.

With the surfacing of the PLO and terrorist connection, perhaps the Congress can drop the 'red herring' Russian funding of US soldier assassinations in AFG issue. The media diversion cover story is obviously not working as planned.

Things Just Got Real: Statewide Mask Mandate Imposed In … Texas
AllahPundit via HotAir
This feels only slightly less shocking and transgressive than watching the state turn blue on election night would.

Which, at the rate we’re going, is a possibility. That’s part of why Greg Abbott went all-in on masks, I assume. If the outbreak continues to spiral in Texas, with the ruling party eventually blamed for not doing everything it could to stem the tide, there’ll be political consequences, not just human consequences. As one Twitter pal put it, "Abbott’s fascinating because he’s as red-meat conservative as anyone but has to govern a large, complex state that’s rapidly becoming less Republican."
It couldn't be Abbott having enough intellectual integrity to not reject means of saving lives of his constituents (and their economy) on ideological grounds? Especially as the pertinent ideology is, in kindest terms, is an infantile temper tantrum.
...The order requires Texans living in counties with 20 or more positive COVID-19 cases to wear a face covering over the nose and mouth while inside a business or other building open to the public, as well as outdoor public spaces, whenever social distancing is not possible. But it provides several exceptions, including children who are younger than 10 years old, people who have a medical condition that prevents them from wearing a mask, people who are eating or drinking and people who are exercising outdoors.

Abbott’s order specifies at least one group of people is not excepted from the order: "any person attending a protest or demonstration" with over 10 people who cannot socially distance...
Texas being Texas, I'm eager to see what happens to the first gun-totting shithead hero defying the orders.

#3  Abbott frames his decision in the clip below in a smart way. It’s not that we’re mandating masks just to hold down the spread, he says. Rather, we’re mandating masks so that the economy can stay open.

That’s how Trump should have formulated this issue months ago: Practice good pandemic hygiene, which means masks and diligent social distancing, and we don’t need to lock down.

Black Leaders To Minneapolis City Council: Dismantling Police Is "Egregious, Grotesque, Absurd, Crazy, Ridiculous" … And Maybe Racist
HotAir
If you think that dismantling an urban police department and replacing it with social workers is nuts, you’re in good company. The very people that the Minneapolis city council claimed to be serving in its attempt to eliminate its own police department have begun blasting the idea as "absurd" and "ridiculous." African-American leaders within the city are accusing the council of rushing to a conclusion without engaging them — and offering a proposal that will leave them unprotected from violence in the future:

Coronavirus and sanctions hit Iran’s support of proxies in Iraq: Reuters report
[AlAhram] Iran’s financial and military support for Shia proxy paramilitary groups in Iraq, a linchpin of its regional foreign policy, has been dramatically disrupted by the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
Since the coronavirus hit earlier this year, Iran has reduced its monthly payments to each of the four top militia groups in Iraq to between $2 million and $3 million from $4.5 million to $5 million, said one of the commanders, who belongs to a powerful paramilitary group.
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
pandemic and US sanctions, according to people familiar with the matter.

Interruptions caused by the virus, including border closings to prevent the spread of the disease, have drastically cut Tehran’s cash supplies to the militia groups in recent months, said three Iraqi paramilitary group commanders and a regional official familiar with Iran’s activities in Iraq.

Iraqi border guards set up bases in five 'strategic' positions in Zakho: commander
[Rudaw] Iraqi border forces in Zakho have mobilized to set up bases in "strategic" positions in order to de-escalate festivities between Ottoman Turkish forces and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), as well as prevent civilian losses, said a commander of the forces on Thursday.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
began air and ground military operations in the Kurdistan Region, in mid-June, with the stated aim of removing suspected PKK targets from the area. The offensive continues despite calls from Kurdish and Iraqi government to stop it. So far, five civilians have been killed by Ottoman Turkish Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s.

Led by the head of the Iraqi border guard brigade Lt. Gen. Hamid Abdullah, a high-level Iraqi military delegation arrived in Duhok province on June 22 to investigate the aftermath of the Sheladize attack which killed four civilians.

Dler Farzanda commander of the Iraqi border guards Force 1 said at a presser on Thursday that Abdullah had ordered him to mobilize some troops to "dominant and significant" positions in Zakho "to limit Turkey-PKK festivities in the area and prevent them from causing more civilian losses."

"Therefore, we mobilized our forces to five positions on Wednesday. These places are in the Kere mountains and Kala Shabaniye region, which are strategic areas and important for the security of the area."

The force was established in 2003 and has been based in Zakho since, according to its commander, who says Wednesday’s troop movement is an act of mobilizing local forces, rather than deploying new ones to the area.

Dilsher Abdulsattar, the head of the Batifa sub-dustrict, told Rudaw on Wednesday that the presence of the force is "to prevent further Ottoman Turkish advances into the Kurdistan Region and secure the people of the area," adding that the selected spots are strategic.

Farzanda also mentioned that Turkey has advanced by 14-15 kilometers into the Kurdistan Region since June 15, invading 12 positions in the town of Zakho.

The border guard force has coordinated with the Peshmerga ministry, and Peshmerga forces will help "if any developments come up," says Farzanda.

Baghdad has informed Ankara about the mobilization of Force 1 to the five positions, stated Farzanda, who claimed that "if ordered to advance, we will go to the very line of the border."

The Iraqi foreign ministry has summoned the Ottoman Turkish ambassador to Baghdad twice, but this has failed to de-escalated the tensions or halt Turkey’s offensive.

According to intelligence information obtained by Rudaw, from the eighties to mid-June 2020, Turkey established military bases in 24 strategic locations in the areas of Kani Masi, Deralok and Shiladze.

The US State Department has called for the coordination of Turkey, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to defeat PKK.

"The United States calls on Turkey and Iraq, including the KRG, to work together to defeat the PKK," a spokesperson told Rudaw late Wednesday.

Hydroxychloroquine lowers COVID-19 death rate, Henry Ford Health study finds
h/t Instapundit
[Detroit News] - A Henry Ford Health System study shows the controversial anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine helps lower the death rate of COVID-19 patients, the Detroit-based health system said Thursday.

Officials with the Michigan health system said the study found the drug "significantly" decreased the death rate of patients involved in the analysis.

The study analyzed 2,541 patients hospitalized among the system’s six hospitals between March 10 and May 2 and found 13% of those treated with hydroxychloroquine died while 26% of those who did not receive the drug died.
Now, for hyper expensive Remdesivir, we have "clinical improvement was observed in 36 of 53 patients": https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2007016
Is it just me?

If, despite everything, I should get a bad case of this thing, I know how I want it treated.
Among all patients in the study, there was an overall in-hospital mortality rate of 18%, and many who died had underlying conditions that put them at greater risk, according to Henry Ford Health System. Globally, the mortality rate for hospitalized patients is between 10% and 30%, and it's 58% among those in the intensive care unit or on a ventilator.

Afghanistan
Jamiat Party Votes In New Leader Shadab, Ousts Rabbani
[ToloNews] A number of members of the Jamaat-e-Islami
...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
Leadership Council on Wednesday, in a move led by Atta Mohammad Noor, voted in a majority to replace the current leader Salahuddin Rabbani with Enayatullah Shadab, who will now lead the council.

Based on the council's decision, the Jamaat party will play a significant role in the grinding of the peace processor as well as in the government, but other members of the council's leadership, led by Salahuddin Rabbani, see the decision as an Intra-party conspiracy and added that Rabbani will continue to his job as the chairman of the party leadership council.

Tensions have risen among members of the Jamaat-e-Islami party, led by Atta Mohammad Noor, after Enayatullah Shadab' replaced Salahuddin Rabbani.

"Cohesion is the focus of reform and reconstruction in the Jamaat itself, this decision will stand until a congress of the Jamaat-e-Islami party of Afghanistan. (In the meantime) one of the most respected and founders of party, Professor Enayatullah Shadab, will lead chairmanship of the Jamaat leadership council," said Abdul Hafiz Mansour, a member of the leadership council of Jamaat-e-Islami party of Afghanistan.

A number of other members of the Jamaat-e-Islami party council, led by Salahuddin Rabbani, have called the decision an Intra-party conspiracy and in a statement suspended council membership of Atta Mohammad Noor, Younos Qanoni, Kalimullah Naqibi, Hafiz Mansour, Abdul Shokor Waqif Hakimi, Enayatullah Shadab and Abdul Satar Murad.

"The Jamaat-e- Islamic party of Afghanistan, emphasizing its previous positions on the country's major political issues, considers yesterday's meeting a conspiracy and against the party's principles and the party constitution," said Waliullah Adib, a member of the leadership council of Jamaat-e-Islami party of Afghanistan.

Salahuddin Rabbani headed the Jamaat-e-Islami party after the liquidation of late Burhanuddin Rabbani

, the former head of the High Peace Council.

"The day before, we witnessed the convening of the congress of the Jamaat-e-Islami Party of Afghanistan, in which the interim chairman was elected, which should have taken place three years ago," said Tawofiq Wahdat, MP.

Tensions between Salahuddin Rabbani and a number of members of the party escalated after an agreement was signed between President Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah
...the former foreign minister of the Northern Alliance government, advisor to Masood, and candidate for president against both Karzai and Ghani. Dr. Abdullah was born in Kabul and is half Tadjik and half Pashtun. He also held the meaningless salaried sop position as CEO of Afghanistan, while Ghani was president...

Taliban Keeps 'Close Ties' With Al-Qaeda Affiliate: Pentagon
[ToloNews] al-Qaeda's regional affiliate in Afghanistan maintains "close ties" to the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
and has an "enduring interest" in attacking US troops, the Pentagon said in a new report released on Wednesday.

Al-Qaeda poses a "limited threat to US personnel and our partners in Afghanistan," the report said, adding that the al-Qaeda affiliate in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS)—"poses the greatest threat to those elements."

"Al-Qaeda routinely supports and works with low-level Taliban members in its efforts to undermine the Afghan government and maintains an enduring interest in attacking US forces and Western targets in the region," it said.

The report also said that al-Qaeda "assists local Taliban in some attacks," according to al-Qaeda statements, the report said.

Al-Qaeda will focus on ensuring "its safe haven remains viable. The few remaining al-Qaeda Core members focus largely on survival, while delegating leadership of AQ’s regional presence to AQIS leaders," according to the report.

Additionality, the report said that al-Qaeda's interest in attacking US forces and other Western targets in Afghanistan and the region persists, but continuing "Coalition CT (counter -terrorism) pressure has reduced AQIS’s ability to conduct operations in Afghanistan without the support of the Taliban.

The report also said that the Taliban and Haqqani Network "very likely maintain the capability to conduct explosive and other offensive operations against Afghan and Coalition forces. At the beginning of the reporting period, Taliban offensive operations briefly decreased during the weeklong RIV in February 2020."

Since the US-Taliban Agreement was signed, the Taliban has reduced violence against US and other foreign forces, but has continued its offensive operations against the ANDSF and Afghan government officials.

"The Taliban is calibrating its use of violence to harass and undermine the ANDSF and GIRoA, but remain at a level it perceives is within the bounds of the agreement, probably to encourage a US troop withdrawal and set favorable conditions for a post-withdrawal Afghanistan," according to the report.

The US government expects the Taliban to fulfill its commitments under the agreement, which specifically states that withdrawal of troops below 8,600 will happen "with the commitment and action on the obligations" by the Taliban of their part of the agreement, the report said.

Organizer of attempt to take down Andrew Jackson statue outside White House arrested: Report
[WashingtonExaminer] Federal law enforcement officials have arrested a man they say organized an attempt to take down a statue of former President Andrew Jackson outside the White House last month, according to a new report.

Jason Charter was arrested at his residence Thursday morning, Fox News reported, citing unnamed law enforcement sources. Charter has been charged with destruction of federal property, the sources said.

"They were very organized," a law enforcement official said. "Charter was on top of the statue and directing people ... they had acid, chisels, straps and a human chain preventing police from getting to the statue."

Last week, four other men were arrested and charged in connection with the June 22 incident, according to the Justice Department.

President Trump has vowed to keep monuments of America's former leaders erect and threatened anyone who attempts to take them down with jail time.

"We are looking at long-term jail sentences for these vandals, hoodlums, anarchists, and agitators. Some people don't like that language, but that's what they are: Bad people. They don't love our country, and they're not taking down our monuments," Trump told reporters last week. "I just want that to be clear."
In other words, the latest version of the Broken Window Theory: those who attack public statuary, if not stopped at this stage, will proceed to more desperate attacks on civic life.

[PUBLISH.TWITTER] Mysterious airstrike hits Libyan airbase controlled by Turkish-backed forces
[ALMASDARNEWS] A mysterious attack was carried out over the al-Watiyah Airbase in western Libya last night, causing a number of explosions southwest of the capital city, Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
Citing an unnamed source, the Sputnik News Agency quoted the local as saying: "The residents of the city of al-Rajban and its environs have heard the sound of explosions and flights flying near the al-Watiyah military base."

The source pointed out that "unknown aircraft bombed sites near the al-Watiyah military base in the western part of the country with a continued flight over the western mountains."

No entity has grabbed credit for this attack.

The al-Watiyah Airbase is currently under the control of the Ottoman Turkish-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) forces.

They took control of the al-Watiyah Airbase during their large-scale counter-offensive against the Libyan National Army (LNA) in April and May.

US attorney: 150 federal cases tied to rioting
[WashingtonExaminer] The top prosecutor in the nation’s capital said the Justice Department has charged 150 people in cases related to acts of violence during protests that followed the death of George Floyd.
Not just arrested, but also charged.
The 150 figure is a jump from the number given by Barr on month ago. The attorney general announced on June 4 that the federal government had made 51 arrests "for federal crimes in connection with violent mostly peaceful rioting."
Acting U.S. Attorney for D.C. Michael Sherwin, picked by Attorney General William Barr in mid-May after a stint as deputy attorney general for national security, revealed the number on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show Thursday evening while providing an update on the Justice Department’s law enforcement efforts tied to the demonstrations over the past five weeks.
It appears that AG Barr’s Justice Department has an awful lot of balls in the air as they prepare to prosecute an unprecedented number of very bad people previously ignored by the system.
"Under the leadership of President Trump, and the direction of the Attorney General, the United States attorney’s offices across the United States have charged to date 150 federal cases related not only to the destruction of federal property but also a litany of other crimes that really have been lost in the shuffle," Sherwin said. "In addition to the arson cases, there are several other federal charges that a been levied across the United States ... related to murder in Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, to arson throughout the United States, and destruction of properties."

Europe
Czech President Milos Zeman: ‘Black Lives Matter Is Racist‘
[PragueMorning] Czech President Milos Zeman while visiting the US Ambassador’s residence in Prague on the 244th anniversary of the independence of the United States, said the slogan “Black Lives Matter” is racist.

He stated that “he does not need new big brothers who will tell him what values to confess.”

“The slogan ‘Black Lives Matter’ is a racist slogan because all lives matter,” Zeman said in a speech provided by his spokesman.

Zeman targeted the “Black Lives Matter” campaign that has spread around the globe since George Floyd, an unarmed African American man, was killed in US police custody a month ago.

“We can’t ignore this danger, we have to face it,” Zeman said, criticizing street riots in the US, destroyed monuments, and burning cars.

The BLM movement has been regarded as largely peaceful. Protesters have targeted statues in the United States and Europe that depict historical figures who owned slaves or were colonizers.

Zeman blamed “stupid fellows who declare themselves value leaders, or even opinion leaders”.

“We need free-thinking, we need common sense,” he said.“I do not need any new Big Brother,” he said, using a term from George Orwell’s classic dystopian novel “1984” to claim the BLM was foisting its opinions on others.

Adopted by 493 to 104 votes, the European Parliament on June 19 declared that “Black Lives Matter” and denounced racism and white supremacism in all its forms.

It also urged EU countries to denounce “the disproportionate use of force and racist tendencies in law enforcement”.

Science
Visualizing the effectiveness of face masks in obstructing respiratory jets
[AIP Physics of Fluids] ABSTRACT

The use of face masks in public settings has been widely recommended by public health officials during the current COVID-19 pandemic. The masks help mitigate the risk of cross-infection via respiratory droplets; however, there are no specific guidelines on mask materials and designs that are most effective in minimizing droplet dispersal. While there have been prior studies on the performance of medical-grade masks, there are insufficient data on cloth-based coverings, which are being used by a vast majority of the general public. We use qualitative visualizations of emulated coughs and sneezes to examine how material- and design-choices impact the extent to which droplet-laden respiratory jets are blocked. Loosely folded face masks and bandana-style coverings provide minimal stopping-capability for the smallest aerosolized respiratory droplets. Well-fitted homemade masks with multiple layers of quilting fabric, and off-the-shelf cone style masks, proved to be the most effective in reducing droplet dispersal. These masks were able to curtail the speed and range of the respiratory jets significantly, albeit with some leakage through the mask material and from small gaps along the edges. Importantly, uncovered emulated coughs were able to travel notably farther than the currently recommended 6-ft distancing guideline. We outline the procedure for setting up simple visualization experiments using easily available materials, which may help healthcare professionals, medical researchers, and manufacturers in assessing the effectiveness of face masks and other personal protective equipment qualitatively.

Fifth Column
MSNBC Dubs Mount Rushmore as a 'Racist' 'Symbol of White Supremacy'
[NEWSBUSTERS.ORG] According to MSNBC’s Katy Tur, President Trump’s July 3rd visit to Mount Rushmore is an example of racism and white supremacy
...the pernicious doctrine that laws were intended to be obeyed, that society works better when people don't pour shreiking from their places of worship every Friday for a weekend of rioting over insults real or imagined; and that cannibalism, beastiality, incest, murder, theft, rape, and similar activities are bad. A Dead White European (which invalidates his opinion) philosopher once opined that societies thrive when a person's word can be relied upon, and that a society which puts individual happiness first will invariably fail. Strangely enough, other successful societies, such as China, Japan, Korea, and those kinds of places could also be lumped with white supremacist societies, since they push the same values...
. In a disgusting Wednesday afternoon interview with Oglala Lakota tribe member Nick Tilsen, MSNBC gave a platform to someone who legitimately believes the United States of America should give up this national monument in the name of racism.Tur openly associated Mount Rushmore with the tearing down of statues across the country:

But his visit it coincides with the national reckoning over racism and the toppling of monuments linked to America’s prejudiced past. And according to many Native Americans and Native American activists, Mount Rushmore should be one of them.

How pathetic and offensive for Tur to insist that Mount Rushmore is a dedication to white supremacy. This is considering the fact that Abraham Lincoln, the president is responsible for freeing the slaves, is one of the four faces carved into the mountain.

Tilsen brought this radical viewpoint on American history to life in this interview:

Well, Mount Rushmore is stolen land from Oglala Lakota indigenous people and it's a symbolizes of white supremacy and structural racism. They systematically stole this land from us as indigenous people and then carved the faces of white colonizers, four white men who were colonizers who contributed to the genocide of indigenous people. And so it’s one of the fundamental symbols of white supremacy in America. And the fact that the president is coming here to this place, with such deep history of racism shows one of the narratives he's perpetuate.

The narrative that Tilsen is poised was not only incorrect, but incredibly dangerous and vile. Of course MSNBC considers this platform well and good seeing how it is tainted in an anti-American sentiment.

Tilsen also demanded that Mount Rushmore must be given back to his tribe:

We think that, we believe that Mount Rushmore should be closed as a national monument. And it should be reverted back into the control of indigenous people and Lakota people of the territory for us to decide what we should do with it.

One of the biggest flaws in Tilsen’s ill-informed take on history was that the Oglala Lakota stole that land from a different Native American tribe, therefore rendering his "stolen land" argument problematic.

Cyber
European police crack encrypted phones network, arrest hundreds in major cyber sting
[FoxNews] European police delivered a major blow to organized crime after cracking an encrypted communications network that allowed them to covertly watch "over the shoulder" of criminals in real time as they planned drug trafficking, arms sales, liquidations and torture, officers announced Thursday.

The massive cross-border probe started in 2017 when French police began investigating phones using the EncroChat secure communication tool and ultimately were able to work around the encryption to gain direct access to users' communications.

"It was as though we were sitting at the table where criminals were chatting among themselves really," said Jannine van den Berg, chief of the Dutch National Police Force.

European police and judicial authorities said they expect the investigation to send shock waves through organized crime gangs across the continent.

The encrypted platform was used by 60,000 people worldwide, including around 10,000 in Britannia, British police said. The service pushed a message to all its users on June 13 alerting them that their systems had been breached and urging users to throw away their phones, European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
police agency Europol added.

The agency said EncroChat sold its "cryptotelephones" for around 1,000 euros each and offered subscriptions with worldwide coverage for 1,500 euros for six months.

Britannia's National Crime Agency said it used EncroChat data to launch investigations that led to the arrest of 746 suspects and the seizure of more than 54 million pounds ($68 million) in criminal cash, 77 firearms and more than 2 tons of drugs.

"Together we’ve protected the public by arresting middle-tier criminals and the kingpins, the so-called iconic untouchables who have evaded law enforcement for years, and now we have the evidence to prosecute them," said NCA Director of Investigations Nikki Holland.

"The infiltration of this command and control communication platform for the UK’s criminal marketplace is like having an inside person in every top organised crime group in the country," Holland added.

London’s Metropolitan Police used EncroChat data to launch what it called its most significant operation against organized crime, saying in a statement that it had arrested "some of London’s longest-standing and most dangerous criminals" and seized more than 13 million pounds in cash.

...a country in Central America that sits on an enormous pool of oil. Formerly the most prospereous country in the region, it became infested with Commies sniffing almost unlimited wealth. It turned out the wealth wasn't unlimited, the economy collapsed under the clownish Hugo Chavez, the murder rate exceeded places like Honduras and El Salvador. A significant proportion of the populace refugeed to Colombia and points south...
, as they have filed a new suit to seize the contents on these tankers.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the U.S. prosecutors are targeting the oil from four Iranian tankers, along with the payments between Tehran and Caracas.

The U.S. prosecutors allege that these payments made between Caracas and Tehran will help fund the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), who Washington has designated as a terrorist organization.

"[These payments] support the IRGC’s full range of nefarious activities, including the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery, support for terrorism, and a variety of human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
abuses, at home and abroad", U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Zia Faruqui claims in the filing.

The prosecutors claims that Iranian businessman, Mahmoud Madanipour, who is allegedly behind these shipments, is affiliated with the IRGC and has been using his firms based in the United Arab Emirates to organize the sale of Iranian crude while evading the unilateral American sanctions, according to the newspaper.

Madanipour purportedly falsified the oil’s origin in papers and used mid-sea, ship-to-ship transfers to fool authorities and has allegedly been working on expanding his operations beyond Venezuela, finding buyers in China and Malaysia too.

The prosecutors claim to have obtained the businessman’s communications in which he discussed ways of transferring the money without triggering the US sanctions, with potential buyers suggesting an array of countries where it could allegedly be done — Oman, UAE, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
, Italia, and Germany, the WSJ says.

#1  Gasoil is a term often used for what an American would call "diesel". So, are Venezuela's refineries so screwed up that they have to import vehicle fuel from Iran? (/rhetorical question, of course they are...)

Ted Cruz Wants Antifa Investigated by the FBI (from July 2019)

[Reason.com] This is a bad idea—and even the director of the FBI says so.
[Figures]
For a few years now, "Antifa" activists have served as a good foil for their Trumpian counterparts and handy villains for Fox News segments. Now, Sen. Ted Cruz (R–Texas) wants to up the stakes. On Tuesday, he urged the FBI to open an investigation into whether Antifa as a group is breaking federal law.

Nevermind that Antifa activists are no more a formal organization than your average group text or a gaggle of happy hour regulars‐Cruz wants to treat them like an official criminal enterprise, chargeable under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.

This should be worrying no matter how one feels about Antifa activists.
Sometimes Libertarians are so open-minded their brains fall out
The label Antifa‐short for anti-fascist‐has been around a while, and was adopted by disparate groups and individuals on the left in the wake of Trump's election. Some Antifa activists have engaged in unprovoked violence as a protest tactic; many more do not.

There is no official Antifa leadership, no formal party structures, no central planning board, no members. While Antifa "chapters" have sprung up in some U.S. cities, these groups have different origin stories, tactics, and goals, and are not sanctioned by any central Antifa leadership. There is no central Antifa leadership, and anyone can start a protest group in their city and call it, and themselves, Antifa.

Antifa is probably best described as a movement, in the same way that folks talk about "small-L libertarians" and the "liberty movement" to describe a branch of related activism and ideology independent from the Libertarian Party.

Cruz did not suggest that the FBI look into particular criminal acts committed by particular criminal actors who identify as Antifa. Instead, he wants the FBI to define the whole movement as a criminal enterprise, making anyone who adopts the label potentially liable for anything anyone else using the label does.

At a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday, Cruz mentioned a recent Portland protest where journalist Andy Ngo was beaten up by black-clad activists, and an attempted attack on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement center in Washington state. "I am concerned that these are not isolated instances but rather this is a pattern, an organization that is engaged in masked, anonymous, violent terrorism," Cruz said.

FBI Director Christopher Wray told Cruz the agency is "absolutely concerned about violence committed on behalf of any ideology." But "the key there," said Wray, is that "the FBI doesn't investigate ideology, we investigate violent criminal activity."

ICYMI at today's @senjudiciary hearing: I urged FBI Director Wray to open a RICO investigation into Antifa. pic.twitter.com/zlkTcKW0kb

‐ Senator Ted Cruz (@SenTedCruz) July 23, 2019

Wray continued, essentially telling Cruz that you can't just criminally investigate anyone associated with an ideological movement because a few proponents of that ideology have done bad things. The FBI definitely "considers Antifa more of an ideology than an organization," Wray said.

The FBI has a history of investigating people based only on their ideology; readers can decide for themselves whether they want to accept its assurances that those days are in the past. It's heartening, at any rate, to hear the bureau's director at least pay lip service to the idea that law enforcement should focus on actual crimes rather than Wrongthink.

Cruz, however, isn't satisfied with that. Comparing Antifa to the Ku Klux Klan and the Mafia, he told Wray he would be sending him and the Department of Justice a letter asking for a RICO Act investigation.

Some of our retirees know, I’m sure, though possibly they ought not say anything on the subject.

Clearly that has now changed, at least for those connected to this.

Secret Service Records Show Hunter Biden Did Not Travel to Ukraine Before Burisma Appointment
[BREITBART] Recently made public Secret Service records indicate that Hunter Biden, the youngest son of former Vice President Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...We hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women created ... by the — you know — you know, the thing...
, did not travel to Ukraine prior to his appointment to the board of directors of Burisma Holdings, one of the country’s top energy conglomerates.

The documents, which were received through a Freedom of Information Act request by the conservative-leaning group Judicial Watch, show the younger Biden took 411 domestic and international flights between 2009 and 2014. The secret service provided protection for Biden on each of those flights and potentially more, as the records only cover the period from June 2009 to May 2014.

Listed among the destinations were 29 foreign countries, including five visits to China alone, as well as trips to Russia and Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
. The records, however, indicate Biden did not travel to Ukraine, at least not with secret service protection, before his appointment to Burisma’s board in April 2014.

It is unclear if Biden went to Ukraine without secret service protection prior to his appointment. It is unlikely, though, as he frequently utilized the federal agency for security when traveling to potentially dangerous locales for business.

This was exhibited when Biden had an entourage of secret service agents accompany him to the Philippines in December 2013, while serving as chairman of the World Food Program, USA. As the Washington Free Beacon reported in March, Biden’s travel and the Secret Service protection required cost United States taxpayers nearly $200,000 throughout his father’s tenure in the vice presidency.

Schiff Learned Of Russian ‘Bounty' Intelligence In February, Withheld Information From Congress, And Took No Action
Sean Davis and Mollie Hemingway doing Reporter's Work for Them
[Federalist] Top committee staff for Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, were briefed in February on intelligence about Russia offering the Taliban bounties in Afghanistan, but he took no action in response to the briefing, multiple intelligence sources familiar with the briefing told The Federalist. The intelligence was briefed to Schiff's staff during a congressional delegation, or CODEL, trip to Afghanistan in February.

Schiff, who has acknowledged President Donald Trump was never briefed on the so-called intelligence, has thus far refused to disclose that his staff was personally briefed. The revelation raises serious questions that Schiff is once again politicizing, and perhaps even deliberately misrepresenting, key data for partisan gain.

Asked by a reporter Tuesday if he had any knowledge of the Russia story prior to the New York Times report, Schiff said "I can't comment on specifics."

Schiff's recent complaints that Trump took no action against Russia in response to rumors of Russian bounties are curious given that Schiff himself took no action after his top staff were briefed by intelligence officials. As chairman of the intelligence committee, Schiff had the authority to immediately brief the full committee and convene hearings on the matter. Schiff, however, did nothing. He did not brief his committee on the matter, nor did he brief the gang of 8, which consists of top congressional leadership in both chambers.

Schiff is demanding that the Trump administration brief all of Congress about the unverified allegations, yet he himself did not ask for a briefing of the Intelligence Committee following the February briefing of his own staff.

Patrick Boland, a spokesman for Schiff on the intelligence committee, did not respond to a request for comment on Schiff's inaction and declined to say why Schiff withheld the information from Congress for months. Boland also did not explain why travel records regarding the Congressional staff delegation trip to Afghanistan had not yet been disclosed in the Congressional Record as required by law.

Schiff, who was the key driver behind failed Democrat attempts to impeach and remove President Donald Trump from office earlier this year about the president's interactions with foreign leaders, also lied about his staff's interaction with the so-called whistleblower, identified by Real Clear Investigations as Eric Ciaramella, prior to the so-called whistleblower filing his complaint against Trump.

The California Democrat was also a main proponent of the Russia collusion hoax, falsely stating for years that he held "ample evidence of collusion" between President Trump and Russia. A lengthy investigation of the theory by Special Counsel Robert Mueller ostensibly set up to find that evidence was unable to find any evidence of any collusion between any American and Russia.

Just as Schiff falsely claimed that he and his staff had no interaction with the anti-Trump leaker behind the impeachment push and falsely claimed he was privy to secret evidence of collusion with Russia, Schiff attacked Trump for not taking action in response to the Russian bounty rumors while refusing to disclose that his own office was briefed in February and did nothing in response.

Iraq
New mass grave unearthed in Iraq's north from brutal ISIS rule
[THEBAGHDADPOST] A human skull, a pair of worn trousers and a shoe were among the remains unearthed from a mass grave discovered this week in northern Iraq, a remnant of the brutal rule of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group, Iraqi officials said Thursday.

The new mass grave was discovered on Monday in the village of Humeydat near the Badoush area west of the city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, six years after the IS group — at the height of its power — declared a caliphate that stretched across eastern Syria and much of northern and western Iraq.

Dozens of bodies were found buried in a trench stretching hundreds of meters (yards) long. Forensics experts have carried out an initial investigation but the spread of the novel coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
has impeded excavations, medical officials in Mosul told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named.

While an investigation is needed to identify the bodies, many believe they were Shiite convicts taken from the local Badoush prison by IS and killed by the holy warriors, shortly after they seized Mosul in June 2014.

Iraqi forces recaptured the prison in March 2017. IS allegedly killed up to 600 inmates in the prison, most of them Shiite detainees. According to an investigation by Human Rights Watch at the time, based on eyewitness accounts, at least 1,500 inmates were rounded up and transported to a stretch of desert. There, Sunni and Shiite inmates were separated and the latter killed.

Iraqi security forces with assistance from the U.S.-led coalition defeated IS and reclaimed northern Iraq in a 2016 military campaign. Though IS no longer holds territory in Iraq, remnants of the group are still active and routinely carry out attacks against Iraqi security forces.

But memories of the group's brutal reign persist, years after the military campaign to root them out.

China-Japan-Koreas
China Never Reported Existence of Coronavirus to World Health Organization
[Free Beacon] WHO backtracks on original claim that China self-reported, admits this never happened

Contrary to claims from both Chinese officials and the World Health Organization, China did not report the existence of the coronavirus in late 2019, according to a WHO timeline tracking the spread of the virus. Rather, international health officials discovered the virus through information posted to a U.S. website.

The quiet admission from the international health organization, which posted an "updated" timeline to its website this week, flies in the face of claims from some of its top officials, including WHO director general Tedros Adhanom, who maintained for months that China had informed his organization about the emerging sickness.

China and its allies at the WHO insisted in multiple interviews and press conferences that China came to the health organization with information about the virus. This is now known to be false. The WHO's backtracking lends credibility to a recent congressional investigation that determined China concealed information about the virus and did not initially inform the WHO, as it was required to do.

The WHO's updated timeline, posted online this week, now states that officials first learned about the virus on Dec. 31, 2019, through information posted on a U.S. website by doctors working in Wuhan, where the virus first emerged. This contradicts the agency's initial timeline, which said that China first presented this information at that date.

That initial timeline stated that the "Wuhan Municipal Health Commission, China, reported a cluster of cases of pneumonia in Wuhan, Hubei Province" on Dec. 31.

These claims were carried in numerous American media outlets that relied on the WHO's inaccurate timeline, including CNN and Axios.

Chinese officials and state-controlled media also claimed for months that the communist regime informed the WHO on or around Dec. 31. In recent days, however, Chinese officials have dropped that talking point.

Rep. Michael McCaul (Texas), lead Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and a member of Congress's China Task Force, was one of the first lawmakers to expose China's lies about reporting the virus. An interim congressional report on the virus's origins published last month first disclosed the fact that the WHO found out about the virus from online postings, not China.

"I'm glad to see the WHO and the Chinese Communist Party have both read my interim report on the origins of the pandemic and are finally admitting to the world the truth‐the CCP never reported the virus outbreak to the WHO in violation of WHO regulation," McCaul told the Washington Free Beacon in a statement. "The question now is whether the CCP will continue their false propaganda campaign that continues to claim they warned the world, or whether they will come clean and begin to work with the world health community to get to the bottom of this deadly pandemic."

McCaul's report makes clear that WHO director general Adhanom parroted China's claim about self-reporting the virus.

"Director General Tedros actively engaged in an effort to defend the CCP's leadership from criticism, negatively impacting the world's understanding of the virus and hampering the global response effort," the report concluded.

The WHO's initial timeline "leaves out the fact that the WHO China Country Office was ‘informed' by the WHO headquarters in Geneva‐not PRC health authorities," according to McCaul's findings, which are now verified by the WHO's revised timeline.

Plastic pitchfork-wielding protesters descend on wealthy Hamptons estates
[PAGESIX] A caravan of protesters — some wielding plastic pitchforks — descended on the Hamptons Wednesday to blast the rich and decry the nation’s rising income inequality. More than 100 drivers and about 200 marchers paid a visit to the homes of some of the world’s wealthiest people, including ex-New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg
...Billionaire former Republican mayor and nanny of New York, Dem candidate for president in 2020. Wants to rid the country of assault weapons, other kinds of guns, and 32-ounce soft drinks...
"Tax the rich, not the poor!" the protesters chanted outside Bloomberg’s $20 million Southhampton mansion, with some calling the failed presidential candidate a "looter."

Protesters, several of whom came in from the Big Apple, demanded that New York Gov. Andrew Sonny Cuomo raise taxes on the state’s 118 billionaires to make up for a steep revenue shortfall amid the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
pandemic.

The group is taking issue with Cuomo’s pitch to cut 20 percent in state funding from schools, hospitals and housing agencies. They noted that while the virus outbreak has deeply impacted low-income people and communities of color, the wealth of US billionaires has surged.

"Enough is enough — it’s time for New York state to raise taxes on the rich instead of cutting services for working people," said Alicé Nascimento, director of policy and research for New York Communities for Change, which helped organize the action.

Veteran Oklahoma police officer killed, rookie in critical condition, after suspect shoots both in the head
[ABCNEWS.GO] A veteran Tulsa, Oklahoma, police officer died Tuesday after a traffic stop went wrong.

Six weeks after Officer Aurash Zarkeshan completed training with the Tulsa Police Department, he made a regular traffic stop on East 21st Street early Monday morning, police said.

After Zarkeshan ran David Anthony Ware's information into the system, he called for backup.

Ware refused to comply with officers' commands to step out of his car, said Tulsa Police Chief Wendell Franklin at a press conference on Monday.

Johnson displayed a stun gun and asked Ware to get out of the car 12 times before firing. Franklin said the stun gun was not effective and Zarkeshan also pepper-sprayed Ware.

A struggle ensued and Ware pulled out a gun and fired "several shots at close range," striking both officers in the head, said Franklin.

"The driver slowly walked away from the vehicle and went to another car that was waiting for him," Franklin said.

Both officers were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Johnson, a 15-year veteran, died on Tuesday afternoon. He leaves behind a wife and two young sons.

Ware, 33, and his accomplice 29-year-old Matthew Hall were arrested.

Prosecutors added first-degree murder to Ware's case on Tuesday in addition to two counts of shooting with intent to kill and criminal possession of a weapon charges. Hall faces accomplice to murder and accomplice to felony charges.

Ware is expected to appear before a judge on Thursday and Hall is expected in court on September 2, according to online records.

They are both being held without bond in Tulsa County jail, according to online records.
Update from Tulsa World at 4:10 p.m. EDT:
Ware was arguing that the officers were “violating his rights” as they informed him that the vehicle would be towed due to the expired temporary tags, according to court documents.

#2  LIVE UPDATE

The principal controllers of the Al Badr group inside Kashmir, which consists of sworn secessionists and entrenched jihadis, was recently contacted by ISI and is being mobilized to try to obstruct the army from reacting to an assault.

So if there is an attack, it will be synced to a domestic civil war in Kashmir, Ladakh and Jammu. Not militarizing the border areas and not killing off half the secessionist population is our error.

Iranian ships head to Lebanon to break the siege
[ALMASDARNEWS] The al-Benaa newspaper reported that "Iranian ships are preparing to head to Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
with foodstuffs, fuel and other essentials, within the framework of Iranian support to break the siege imposed by the Americans.

"They pointed out that there are "contacts to transfer this aid at the official level" and that it will reach Lebanon within two weeks.

Al-Benaa spoke about the expected Iranian aid, while quoting its sources, that "negotiations with the IMF have reached a dead end, especially after the resignation of the Director General of Finance, Alan Bivani, and the sharp differences between the government on the one hand and the Bank of Lebanon and the banking sector on the other, excluded. The fund decides to assist Lebanon in light of this disagreement and division over numbers and official confusion and the failure to complete the necessary reforms so far. "

The Lebanese newspaper confirmed on Thursday, that "there are official Iranian preparations to assist Lebanon at the highest levels by breaking the siege imposed on it by many Western and Arab countries."

Lebanon is currently suffering from economic hardship, due to corruption and neighboring Syria’s ongoing war.

The various Lebanese regions are also suffering from rationing of electricity, due to the lack of diesel and fuel, while the Electricity Company of Lebanon warned against stopping its production.

The Lebanese pound lost more than 80% of its value, while the exchange rate of the dollar on the black market touched the threshold of 9,000 Lebanese pounds after its price remained stable at 1,500 pounds for decades.

Science & Technology
48 Sat SAR system to be built for military
Good.
[SatelliteToday] PredaSAR is working to build a constellation of 48 Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites, and the company’s Executive Chairman and Co-Founder Marc Bell said the Earth Observation (EO) startup will start commercial operations with satellites on-orbit as early as next year.

In a recent conversation with Via Satellite, Bell said PredaSAR’s satellites were in production with Tyvak before the company was founded. PredaSAR was founded in 2019, and announced its $25 million seed financing round, led by Rokk3r Fuel, in early March. Both PredaSAR and Tyvak are Terran Orbital corporations, and Bell is also a Terran Orbital co-founder.

“We’ve all been working on this for a long time.” Bell said. “Tyvak has put over 220 satellites in orbit already. So, we’re not really a startup, we’ve been doing this a long time. And so we have a lot of experience and we manufacture most of our components in house. It was very cost-effective for us to go and build this.”

Bell, an investor who produces Broadway shows, was previously a majority stakeholder in Penthouse magazine. His portfolio at Marc Bell Capital includes space startups Nanoracks and Made in Space. But PredaSAR’s team is stacked with retired U.S. Air Force personnel. The CEO is retired U.S. Air Force Major General Roger Teague, and it’s Board of Directors includes three retired Air Force generals — General William Shelton, General Richard Newton, and General Douglas Raaberg.

Bell said PredaSAR’s first priority is to serve the national security interests of the U.S. military, and the company’s in-house military expertise is key to understanding the needs of the warfighter.

“Instead of building satellites, and looking for customers, we went to the customer first and said — ‘What do you need, and what do you want?’ Then we built the satellite, so they are purpose built,” Bell said. “A lot of people build these large optical satellites and hope people will come. We found our customers first.”

Bell said that mindset has paid off, and PredaSAR has already signed its first contracts. The constellation will have both government and commercial customers the day it is operational. In addition, the satellites which are built for military needs will have added benefits for commercial customers.

“The beauty of building it with the U.S. military and government in mind is we’re building things to a much higher specification, much higher quality, much more redundancy than you would for a commercial customer. And so commercial people benefit from everything that we’ve done,” Bell said.

#1  Who will launch them? If its open to bid, I'd bet on SpaceX - they could probably have a minimal constellation boosted within 6 months of the delivery of the satellites. If they want to throw money at cronies and really dont care about how long it takes to get launch hardware and schedules, it will go to the usual suspect Boeing, Lockeed, Northrup and so on, and they will not get to orbit within the next decade.

So, watch and see how serious they are about this by seeing who gets the launch contracts. That will be your hint that this is a boon or a boondoggle.
Posted by: Marilyn Tojo7566 || 07/03/2020 2:50 Comments || Top||

#2  SpaceX's book is already pretty full. Of course they can ramp up and they will, but we have no more business relying on a single domestic supplier of launches than we do relying on Russian launches and engines. ULA has to do better and when the Vulcan starts testing next year, maybe they will. They certainly have to be feeling the pressure.

Why We Should Not Be Concerned About Increasing COVID-19 Cases In Texas
[ZeroHedge] Good morning,

I am the Managing Partner and General Counsel of a Texas based company that owns and operates 13 free-standing emergency clinics in the State of Texas. I follow your reporting and wanted to share with you some information on Texas. I want people to hear this story as opposed to the mainstream reporting. However, I am sensitive about putting a target on myself or my company for conveying this information. I am not sure how you've handled this type of situation but I suspect you've had other people send you information who are concerned about becoming a target.

In June, we tested over 2,231 patients (data through last Thursday). Positive rate is now close to 20% (was 4-6% in May). Vast majority of the cases are mild to very mild symptoms. Average age of the people getting tested in mid-30s.
Protest age?
Very different patient (in terms of age) than we've seen before June. Most of these patients would not have met criteria that we previously had (and all the health facilities had) for Covid testing. Now with more testing kits we are able to test a broader group of patients.

Clinically, we've had very few hospital transfers because of Covid. Vast majority of the patients are better within 2-3 days of the visit and most would be described as having a cold (a mild one at that) or the symptoms related to allergies. We've often provided a steroid shot and some antibiotics. By the time we have follow-up calls, most of the patients are no longer experiencing any symptoms. They often say the shot really made a difference.

In terms of what is driving them to the ER ‐ Roughly 1/2 have been told by their employers to get a test. They have a sneeze or a cough and their employer tells them to go get tested. The other 1/2 just want to know. They have mild symptoms (and some don't have any symptoms but game the system and check a box that they have a symptom so they can get a test ‐ they cannot get a test unless they present with symptoms. If they have no symptoms we send them away ‐ which does happen.)

The average length of stay of Covid patients is 3-5 days. Much lower than the patients being seen in April and early May. Their symptoms are also milder. Most of the patients are not ending up in the ICU. The hospital ICUs are filled with really sick people with non-Covid issues. They [didn't] come in earlier because they were scared and now they are super sick. From multiple sources at different hospitals ‐ they have plenty of capacity and no shortage of acute care beds.

No real data on breakdown of patients who have Covid but are not in the hospital because of Covid. Recognition that because all patients are tested for Covid you have some percentage of patients listed as Covid patients who are non Covid symptomatic and that the hospitalization rate is somewhat driven by hospitals taking their normal patients with other medical issues.

Finally, heard several stories of how discharge planners are being pressured to put Covid as primary diagnosis ‐ as that pays significantly better. Hospitals want to avoid the discussion but if they don't they risk another shutdown. This may be an explanation for why there is a gap in hospital executives saying they have plenty of capacity and the increasing number of Covid hospitalizations. You open up your hospitals for normal medical care and you test everyone (sic) of those patients ‐ the result is higher percentage of patients who have Covid ‐ now.
Also, insurance reimbursements rates are much higher for COVID cases, so there is a strong financial incentive to report any cold/flu-like symptoms as such.
Overall, based on what we are seeing at our facilities, the above information is really a positive story. You have more people testing positive with really minimal symptoms. This means that the fatality rate is less than commonly reported.

Keep an eye on slippery Ghislaine Maxwell
[NYPOST] Lock her in a glass cage.

Put a camera in the cell, hook it up to the internet, livestream it to the world.

Double the guard. Double their pay. Make sure they can’t be bribed, don’t sleep on the job, aren’t watching television.

Better yet, put her in the middle of Times Square where the Elmos can keep an eye on her.

Whatever you do, don’t leave Ghislaine Maxwell alone — or hidden. Don’t you dare let her commit "suicide" like the depraved boss she served, Jeffrey Want Some Candy, Little Girl? Epstein
...A high class pimp financier who was alleged to maintain a stable of underage whores sex slaves who were paid big bucks to entertain the rich and/or famous. He is a registered sex offender and made att least 17 out-of-court settlements with former members of his stable, with some cases still ongoing. 2011 court docs reveal that 21 email addresses and phone numbers for Bill Clinton and an aide were found in Epstein's electronic black book, and that Clinton frequently flew with Epstein on his private plane between 2002 to 2005. But really, they were probably just discussing finance or politix or something. While getting massaged. Then things got serious, Jeff was tossed in the slammer in New York and then he killed himself. Really. That's what happened...
For the sake of justice, do it right this time.

Seattle sees 525 percent spike in crime thanks to CHOP: Mayor Durkan
[NYPOST] Seattle saw a staggering 525 percent spike in crime as a result of the violence that swept through the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest zone, according to Mayor Jenny Summer of Love Durkan
...Democrat Maress of Seattle, who allowed a chunk of the downtown of her city to be turned into an autonomous combat zone...
Durkan’s emergency order booting protesters from the six-block cop-free zone makes mention of the "narcotics use and violent crime, including rape, robbery, assault, and increased gang activity" within the CHOP since it first emerged in early June.

June 2 to June 30 saw the 525 percent jump in crime compared to the same period last year.

It includes "22 additional incidents, in person-related crime in the area, to include two additional homicides, 6 additional robberies, and 16 additional aggravated assaults (to include 2 additional non-fatal shootings)," Durkan’s order on Tuesday says.

The CHOP crime spree includes the deaths of two black teens, ages 19 and 16, who were fatally shot in separate incidents.

Durkan authorized police to take back the streets, saying conditions in the CHOP "have deteriorated to the point where public health, life, and safety are threatened by activities in and around this area."

‘Anti-Colin Kaepernick’ Burgess Owens Wins Utah Fourth District GOP Primary
[BREITBART] Former Oakland Raiders Super Bowl champion safety Burgess Owens won the Utah Fourth Congressional GOP primary on Tuesday night and will now face off against Rep. Ben McAdams (D-UT).Owens decisively won the Fourth Congressional District’s primary by roughly 20 points. Owens’ victory means he will now face off against freshman swing district Democrat McAdams in the general election.

McAdams unseated former Rep. Mia Love (R-UT) during the 2018 midterm elections. The Cook Political Report rates the race as a "lean Democrat," but Owens’ potential victory over McAdams could help the GOP retake the House majority.

Republicans need to gain a net 17 seats during the 2020 elections to regain the House majority. Utah’s Fourth Congressional District was one of the 30 congressional districts that President Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons......
won during the 2016 presidential election but that House Democrats managed to flip during the 2018 midterm elections.

Breitbart News’s Matthew Boyle profiled Owens, noting that he has pushed a cultural renaissance in the country to better advocate for God, country, and families in Congress.

As you read this, dear Reader, ponder the question of whether Herr Schroeder's opinion matters at all anymore.
[Saker] A German equivalent to UK's Financial Times and America's Wall Street Journal is the Dusseldorf Handelsblatt or "Commerce Sheet," which headlined on June 30th, "Former Chancellor Schröder: USA Ending Transatlantic Partnership".

They reported:

#4  Maybe its time. If the Germans and French can't be bothered to stop bowing to Russia, then why should we be worried about defending them?

#7  "Economic fines against a NATO ally"

Oh, you mean like the tariffs the protectionist EU levies on American goods? The way that they deliberately craft their laws to exclude our products?

Fuck 'em. Cut them loose. They've been acting like an adversary for a long time, time to treat them like one. Nordstream 2 is such an obvious "fuck you" to America that it's hard to justify otherwise.

#9  It's strange, the EUSSR has a high opinion of itself that's not shared by those dealing with it.

..after that 'gift' of literally railroading Lenin from Switzerland to Russia who could blame them. It's a gift that's kept on giving.

#13  This idiotic report claims that fracking was "One of the few proud achievements of U.S. President Obama." For those who follow the petroleum sector that remark is laughable. Obama did all in his power to hinder the growth of the industry.
Posted by: b || 07/03/2020 9:35 Comments || Top||

#14  Yeah, that makes zero a priori sense to make such a claim. Besides, there are plenty of failed "green" businesses that got gov't money under Obama.

The Grand Turk
Don't Let Erdogan Erase Turkey's Christian Past
[Foreign Policy] The Turkish president wants to turn Istanbul’s Hagia Sophia back into a mosque. Destroying its dual Orthodox-Islamic heritage would be a blow to religious pluralism and tolerance.

Istanbul’s Hagia Sophia was, for nearly 1,000 years, the largest and most important house of Christian worship in the world until it was converted into mosque in the 15th century. The building, now a museum, is still filled with priceless Christian mosaics and frescoes. It is also one of the most contested religious buildings in the world.

On July 2, the Turkish high court will rule on President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s request to annul the 1934 decree that turned Hagia Sophia from a mosque into a museum. If the court says yes, the decision will reverberate across the world.

Erdogan has consistently expressed his desire to return Hagia Sophia to its previous status as a mosque. This stance plays well with his pious political base.
Turkish Pres Erdogan wants to turn the Hagia Sophia Cathedral back into a mosque from the museum which it had been turned into by Ataturk. That would result in the destruction of all the magnificent mosaics uncovered after they had been whitewashed when the cathedral had been converted into a mosque in 1453. Foking barbarians.

Virginia college may nix wasp mascot, fearing tie to 'White Anglo-Saxon Protestants'
[WASHINGTONTIMES] Emory & Henry College in Virginia has announced to students the school will re-examine its wasp mascot. Why? The bug may appear "exclusive" to students who are not White Anglo-Saxon Protestants, or "WASPs."

While a public outcry over racism continues around the nation, the college is already concerned that its two historical namesakes — Methodist Episcopal Church bishop John Emory and founding father Patrick Henry — were slave holders. The school mascot has also come under scrutiny.

"Conversations must examine how Emory & Henry’s past has contributed to current and ongoing systemic oppression," said Dr. John Wells, president of Emory & Henry College, according to the email obtained by Young America’s Foundation.

#6  Six legs good, two legs bad!

why is illegal to beat the shit out of these ppl?

That's a good question! It may be that excessive numbers of excessively stupid people is a modern problem and our judicial system has simply not yet evolved to deal with it.

In olden days, if you were stupid, your days were numbered. You wandered off a cliff, were eaten by bears, scalped by wild Indians or simply starved to death in the winter. Thanks to the blessings of civilization, most of these things are no longer a problem and the stupid accumulate.

Personally, I'm starting to feel like an extra in the remake of "Idiocracy".
