Last week, a new peer-reviewed study of hydroxychloroquine’s effectiveness at treating the coronavirus was published*, and it found that the drug significantly reduced mortality rates. *Arshad, S., Kilgore, P., Chaudhry, Z. S., Jacobsen, G., Wang, D. D., Huitsing, K., ... & O’Neill, W. (2020). Treatment with Hydroxychloroquine, Azithromycin, and Combination in Patients Hospitalized with COVID-19. International Journal of Infectious Diseases.
And by significantly, I mean it literally cut the mortality rate by more than half.
The study also determined that despite previous reports, there were no adverse effects on the heart.
President Trump has been touting hydroxychloroquine as a potential game-changer since mid-March after small studies showed it potentially served as an effective treatment for coronavirus patients. "I feel good about it. Just a feeling. I am a smart guy, we’ll see soon enough and we have certainly big samples of people," Trump said at the time. Since then, the media has desperately tried to undercut Trump’s positive message about hydroxychloroquine’s potential as a treatment for the coronavirus, calling it "unproven" and claiming there’s "no proof" that it works, and that certain at-risk people can die from the drug. They pounced when Dr. Anthony Fauci expressed reluctance to fully endorse the drug because there had not been clinical trials studying it’s effectiveness as a coronavirus treatment yet.
...Several studies came out linking hydroxychloroquine to a higher mortality rate. The media pounced on a U.S. Veterans Health Administration study supporting this claim, even though it wasn’t a clinical trial, but a small, non-peer-reviewed study of patients who were not representative of the entire population, and patients with severe cases of the coronavirus were also disproportionally administered the drug. A number of follow-up studies were also touted by the media as proof that the drug caused a higher rate of mortality, but then it was discovered those studies were based on bogus data, causing medical journals that published the studies to issue retractions.
...In March, Gretchen Whitmer banned the use of hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine to treat coronavirus patients, threatening doctors with "administrative action" if they prescribed it for that purpose. Eventually, she reversed course. Steve Sisolak, the Democrat governor of Nevada, also signed an emergency order restricting the use of chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine to treat the coronavirus.
...How many lives were lost because the Democrats and the media claimed that taking hydroxychloroquine would kill you? In May, Dr. John Giles of Columbia University told NPR that fears about hydroxychloroquine made it difficult to recruit volunteers for clinical studies. "Pretty much everybody said, ’well, that’s the drug that is dangerous to your heart,’ or ’I talked to friends and they said don’t take it,’ or ’I saw it on TV that it was dangerous,'" Giles explained. "It became almost impossible to get anyone interested."
But Giles knew these fears were unfounded. "It’s a very, very safe drug. It’s been used for over 75 years," he said.
Despite the drug being safe, Giles eventually gave up on doing his study.
He wasn’t alone. Dr. Christine Johnston at the University of Washington told NPR that volunteers felt "that the study and the drugs feel too political, and they just don’t want to participate at all."
And all this time, hydroxychloroquine has been shown to cut the death rate of the coronavirus in half.
...A Yale study published in May noted that "Five studies, including two controlled clinical trials, have demonstrated significant major outpatient treatment efficacy" of hydroxychloroquine alone or hydroxychloroquine combined with azithromycin. "These medications need to be widely available and promoted immediately for physicians to prescribe."
...Think about this: Had Democrats cared more about saving lives than the November election, more people would have been comfortable taking hydroxychloroquine as treatment. More people would have participated in clinical trials. More people would have recovered from the coronavirus. Instead, immediately after Trump started touting the drug, he was criticized and mocked by Democrats, the media, and even government officials. They ignored studies that showed it worked, pretended not to hear anecdotal evidence from patients who were successfully treated by the drug, and told people that hydroxychloroquine could kill them.

So do the math. There are 324 million Americans. 43% get the standard flu shot. 30 to 60,000 die annually. The figure the morbidity rate off those that do not get the shot. Then go look at the morbidity rates for COVID. They look remarkedly the same. Remove the New York numbers of seniors forced to return to nursing homes and this virus is no more or less lethal than the flu.

[ZH] In a rare unanimous decision for the US Supreme Court, on Monday the nine Justices ruled unanimously that states can require presidential electors to back their states’ popular vote winner in the Electoral College. The ruling arose out of a case from Washington state, essentially gives states the right to outlaw so-called "faithless electors" who cast their votes for people other than those chosen by their voters.
The decision comes just four months before the 2020 election, leaves in place laws in 32 states and the District of Columbia that bind electors to vote for the popular-vote winner, and electors almost always do so anyway.
While so-called "faithless electors" have not been critical to the outcome of a presidential election, that could change in a close race decided by just a few electoral votes. As a reminder, it takes 270 Electoral College votes to win the presidency.
When the court heard arguments by telephone in May because of the coronavirus outbreak, justices invoked fears of bribery and chaos if electors could cast their ballots regardless of the popular vote outcome in their states.

The presumptive Democrat nominee for president was speaking to the National Education Association annual conference, and union president Lily Eskelsen Garcia touted Jill Biden's membership in the largely compulsory organization.
She then introduced Biden, who said, "I'm Joe Biden's Husband, Joe Biden."
He didn't correct himself and launched into his remarks.
Biden has sought to charm audiences by introducing himself as "Jill Biden’s husband" routinely in the past.

[News with Views] The CDC is over inflating coronavirus death numbers. They freely admit this and many people in the United States still believe and act as if the U.S. coronavirus death count is legitimate, because this is what the CDC reports. If the CDC reports it, it therefore must be true, is the logic.
This mentality reminds me of a few scenes from the sci-fi satirical movie Idiocracy. Five hundred years in the future, human beings had become imbecilically stupid and were unable to critically think. Big businesses had taken over the U.S. government and economy, and had programmed and controlled people’s minds. Food giant Brawndo had bought and controlled the FDA and the FCC, just as Bill Gates and other globalists have bought and controlled the CDC and the WHO. Joe Bowers (Luke Wilson), the lead character in the movie, was tasked with saving U.S. crops, which had failed to grow, but he first had to convince the people that Brawndo was killing the crops and the plants needed water to grow. That proved to be a difficult task, because the people had been programmed to believe what they had always been told, "Brawndo’s got what plants crave. It’s got electrolytes."
At the onset on the coronavirus outbreak in early 2020, President Trump voiced his concern that the lockdowns and the effect that it would have on the nation shouldn’t be worse than the disease itself. It has been. A devastated economy, closed businesses, and many lives ruined and put on hold was the result of the lockdown ’cure.’ Does any critical thinking person actually believe that the lockdowns have saved even one life in America?
"The cure can’t be worse than the disease" has in fact, turned out to be a double entendre. Many people who have gone to hospitals, either to be merely tested for COVID-19 or to seek treatment, have died or have become partially disabled. It is not coronavirus that is killing people, it’s the treatment for coronavirus that is killing people.

I said something similar in regards to facemasks to a guy in the grocery store yesterday. I said I probably not going to die from CV-19 but more likely from wearing the mask. He said, yeah, a person doesn't get enough oxygen. It occurred to me that a person wearing a mask is breathing his/her own exhaled breath over and over, which is largely CO2 and not O2.
(CNN) Authorities in the Chinese region of Inner Mongolia are on high alert after a suspected case of bubonic plague, the disease that caused the Black Death pandemic, was reported Sunday.
The case was discovered in the city of Bayannur, located northwest of Beijing, according to state-run Xinhua news agency. A hospital alerted municipal authorities of the patient's case on Saturday. By Sunday, local authorities had issued a citywide Level 3 warning for plague prevention, the second lowest in a four-level system.
The warning will stay in place until the end of the year, according to Xinhua.
Plague, caused by bacteria and transmitted through flea bites and infected animals, is one of the deadliest bacterial infections in human history. During the Black Death in the Middle Ages, it killed an estimated 50 million people in Europe. If anybody needs me, I'll be locked in my room in the bomb shelter.

A normal situation in the four corners area (UT,CO,AZ,NM). That's why we scratch our head over the panic on the KungFlu. We live with a killer. In NM, we've lost about 125, mostly in the Navajo Reservation and a nursing home to this KungFlu. In 2018 we killed over 300 in vehicle accidents. The shut down has sort of balanced that out this year with a decrease in vehicular deaths.

How about a culture among black men where not just their lives matter, but also their wives?
We once had a president who was uniquely qualified to speak to this issue. Although he was biracial, he identified as black which was the race of his absent father. But instead of leading his people out of the wilderness, he pandered to them. He wanted to be black more than he wanted to be a man.

[The Dem and Chronicle] On the same weekend in which famed abolitionist Frederick Douglass 168 years ago delivered one of his most historically resonant speeches, a statue of Douglass was toppled from its base and left near the Genesee River gorge.
Located in Maplewood Park, the statue "had been placed over the fence to the gorge and was leaning against the fence" on the river side, according to a statement from Rochester police. The statue was left about 50 feet from its pedestal.
The base and lower part of the statue was damaged, as was a finger on the statue's left hand.
There is historical significance to the timing of the vandalism — though no one can now say whether the timing was mere happenstance — just as there is historical significance to the statue's very location. The Maplewood Park location includes Kelsey's Landing, where Douglass, Harriet Tubman, and others helped shuttle slaves to safety along the Underground Railroad.
Across the United States, Douglass' July 5, 1852 speech, "What to the Slave is the Fourth of July," has been shared widely on social media and elsewhere as a reminder of the country's legacy of slavery and racism.

Atlanta Georgia has erupted into a lawless society as a willfully complicit Atlanta Mayor, Keisha Lance Bottoms, attempts to avoid her role in the murder of an 8-year-old child as violent Black Lives Matter protestors run amok in the city.
On Saturday night about 9:30, Charmaine Turner and her daughter were driving with a friend when they attempted to turn into a store near a group of armed Black Lives Matter protestors. Two of the BLM activists opened fire on their vehicle for not complying with their unlawful roadblock, and 8-year-old Secoriea Turner was shot. She died in her mothers arms as they attempted to escape the area and get to a hospital.

Two Paleostinians were shot and maimed during a violent mostly peaceful scuffle with settlers in the northern West Bank Sunday afternoon that also put four Israelis in the hospital.
Two Paleostinians with gunshot wounds were hospitalized in moderate and light condition respectively in the nearby Salfit governorate, the Paleostinian Authority Health Ministry said.
Four settlers were lightly injured by thrown stones during the melee and taken to Kfar Saba’s Meir Medical Center for treatment.
The clash erupted between settler youth and Paleostinian farmers working land between the settlement of Maaleh Shomron and the Paleostinian town of Biddya, southwest of Nablus, according to Israeli and Paleostinian officials.
Israeli police did not specify who instigated the clash.
A spokeswoman for the Samaria Regional Council said Israeli farmers were set upon with stones and clubs by 100 Paleostinians. One of the farmers, who was armed, opened fire to scatter the rioters, she said.
According to the Paleostinian Ma’an News Agency, the fight broke out due to both sides claiming the same piece of farmland, which the report called an attempted "takeover" by settlers.
Iyad Abid, a member of the Biddya Emergency Committee, told The Times of Israel that the two injured Paleostinians were Biddya residents Mohannad al-Sadiq and Daoud Salameh (Abu Karim).
"The settlers say that the land is theirs, and they want to take it by force. But it belongs to private individuals in Biddya," Abid said.
Abid added that the town had held a protest against what he said were attempts by settlers to take it over on Friday.
Asked about claims by the Samaria Regional Council spokesperson that there had been 100 Arabs who had attacked Jewish farmers, Abid claimed that the two injured were the only ones present on their land during the alleged confrontation, and that the rest only arrived after the settlers had fled.
"They shot and fled," Abid said, referring to the settlers.
The incident came a week after the sides traded arson accusations regarding fires that broke out in nearby Burin and Givat Ronen in the northern West Bank.
Israel Fire and Rescue Services said it responded to a report of a large brush fire outside the Givat Ronen outpost, which quickly spread due to the wind and topography of the area. A fire service front man said that locals reported having seen Paleostinians from neighboring Burin setting fire to the field outside Givat Ronen before fleeing back to their village.
As Israeli fire squads worked to put out the blaze, Paleostinians from Burin filmed ten masked settlers descending from Givat Ronen, hurling stones at a construction site on the edge of the village, then setting an adjacent field on fire and fleeing back toward their outpost.
A front man for the Yesh Din rights group, which distributed the footage, said Burin residents had been aware of a fire that had been set an hour earlier near Givat Ronen, but said that since it had been ignited on fields belonging to their village it could not have been started by one of their own inhabitants.

A small city in Ohio has decided to open itself for all statues and monuments of historical figures throughout the country that many seek to remove due to the problematic aspects of their legacies, local NBC affiliate WFMJ reported.
David Lynch, city manager of Newton Falls, signed an official proclamation Saturday transforming the city into a Statuary Sanctuary City.
This proclamation, uploaded in its entirety by WFMJ, officially declared "a general amnesty for George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Ulysses S. Grant, Patrick Henry, Francis Scott Key, Theodore Roosevelt and Christopher Columbus."
This decision comes amid widespread efforts across the US to remove statues of historical figures with problematic legacies, usually marred by slavery and racism. These statues have included several veterans of the Confederacy from the US Civil War, several US politicians such as president Theodore Roosevelt and of other historical figures such as Christopher Columbus.
These efforts began following protests that sparked after the death of African-American man George Floyd in Minneapolis by coppers, leading to greater calls to crack down against white supremacy ...the pernicious doctrine that laws were intended to be obeyed, that society works better when people don't pour shreiking from their places of worship every Friday for a weekend of rioting over insults real or imagined; and that cannibalism, beastiality, incest, murder, theft, rape, and similar activities are bad. In a call on social networks, the organizers of Sunday's march accused the government of ``ignoring the memory of the peoples it reduced to slavery or colonized by mass slaughter.'' They want La Belle France to rename streets and monuments for people who fought against slave trading and colonial crimes.
Algeria was considered the jewel in La Belle France's colonial empire, and is marking its independence day Sunday with a special funeral ceremony for 24 resistance fighters decapitated by French forces in the 19th century.

Chants of "From the river to the sea, Paleostine will be free," were heard, according to a Facebook post linked to the pro-Israel group.

[FOX5ATLANTA] The Georgia State Patrol headquarters in southeast Atlanta was vandalized early Sunday by a group accused of setting off at least one firework inside the building.
A spokesperson for the Georgia State Patrol told FOX 5 that shortly after 1 a.m. a group of between 60 and 100 masked protesters approached the building on United Avenue.
Video at the scene showed several dozen people outside and the sound of drums being played in the background. Smoke could be seen through a glass window of the building after the red flash that looked to be coming from inside.
The spokesperson said the group "caused extensive damage" to the building and a DPS vehicle parked in front of the building.
Atlanta firefighters were also on the scene following reports that part of the building was set on fire by fireworks that were thrown into one of the windows. DPS personnel at the scene were able to put out the fire.
Kimberly Krautter, who recorded video of the fire said "only about three or four people" looked to be trying to vandalize the building.

[ALMASDARNEWS] Another powerful explosion occurred in Iran, as the official news agency of the Islamic Theocratic Republic reported a blast at the Madah Zarjan gas station in the city of Ahvaz, southwestern Iran.
"The explosion resulted from a fire in the station, which was caused by a blast at one of the power transformers in it," the head of the fire department in the Ahvaz province, Ibrahim Kanbari, said, adding that "five fire trucks and 15 rescuers were sent to put out the fire, and there is no information about the area of the fire," the Islamic Theocratic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported.

[BREITBART] An armed bystander shot a robbery suspect dead in the parking lot of a Scottsdale, Arizona, convenience store early Friday morning.
12 News reports the robbery suspect, 38-year-old Robert Blackwater, entered a Circle K on Indian School and 82nd Street and allegedly shot at the clerk, who fled the store unharmed.
During the alleged robbery a customer, 35-year-old Joseph Toki, walked into the store and was allegedly shot and killed by Blackwater.
Blackwater then reportedly ran out of the store and shot at a bystander in the parking the lot. The bystander was armed and shot back, killing Blackwater.
Fox 10 reports Scottsdale Police believe Blackwater was tied to two other armed robberies, one in Mesa and another in Scottsdale.
Police apprehended a second robbery suspect on Saturday, 32-year-old Bryan Christopher Lee Washington. He is believed to have been waiting in a car for Blackwater outside the store, and police think he fled on foot once the parking lot shootout occurred.

[WEARTV] ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- An investigation into an alleged noose believed to have been found at the International Paper Co. mill in Cantonment has come to an end.
International Paper's Director of Marketing Thomas Ryan tells Channel 3 that what they found on site in late June was actually not a noose at all.
Ryan says they immediately partnered with a third party to investigate the supposed noose. That third party group, he says, was very diverse.
Ryan says the Sherlocks reviewed current and historical photographs and interviewed more than 60 employees and contractors. They found the rope was actually used to hold up cables, but knocked down by a storm that night.
He sent Channel 3 a statement reading in part:
The team discovered photographs from as far back as 2012 that showed the rope was used to elevate cables that were knocked to the ground by a storm. The team ultimately found no evidence of racist conduct or intent. [WSB-TV2] ATLANTA — An 8-year-old girl was shot and killed Saturday night in Atlanta near the Wendy’s where Rayshard Brooks died last month.
Police identified the child Sunday as Secoriea Turner.
Officers said they responded to a 911 call near University Avenue and I-75/I-85 around 9:50 p.m. The location of the shooting was in a parking lot across the street from the now burned-out Wendy’s, which has been occupied by demonstrators since Brooks’ death at the hands of an Atlanta police officer.
Police said Turner was riding in a car with her mother and her mother’s friend when they exited the interstate at University Avenue. The driver tried to turn into the parking lot at 1238 Pryor Road when he was confronted by an "group of armed individuals" who had blocked the entrance.
"At some point, someone in that group opened fire on the vehicle, striking it multiple times and striking the child who was inside. The driver then drove to Atlanta Medical Center for help," police said in a statement.
Police said the 911 caller told them they were heading to Atlanta Medical Center with the victim. The child died at the hospital.
On Sunday night, Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms spoke out about Secoriea Turner’s death and pleaded with the community to stop the violence.
"Now we are demanding action for Secoriea Turner, and all other people who were shot in Atlanta last night," Bottoms said. "Enough is enough. If you want people to take us seriously and you don’t want us to lose this movement, we can’t lose each other."

[Oilprice.com] Plans to start mining the Moon as early as 2025 became more attractive this week after a US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) team found evidence that the Earth’s natural satellite may, underneath its surface, be richer in metals than previously thought. Using data from the Miniature Radio Frequency (Mini-RF) instrument onboard NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO), a team of researchers came to the conclusion that the lunar subsurface contains a higher concentration of certain metals, such as iron and titanium, than estimated.
The study, published in the journal Earth and Planetary Science Letters, contends the most popular theory surrounding the Moon’s origins. The hypothesis contends the satellite was formed when a Mars-sized object collided with Earth, vaporizing large portions of the Earth’s upper crust.
"By improving our understanding of how much metal the moon’s subsurface actually has, scientists can constrain the ambiguities about how it has formed, how it is evolving and how it is contributing to maintaining habitability on Earth," lead study author Essam Heggy said in a statement.
The evidence was discovered while the scientists were looking for ice at the bottom of craters in the lunar north pole region, NASA said. It means that fine dust found at the base of those holes are parts of the deeper layers of the Moon, ejected during meteor impacts. As such, this dust represents the composition in deeper Moon layers.
The researchers found a pattern in which larger and deeper craters have higher metal concentrations than smaller and shallower ones. Specifically, in craters approximately 1 to 3 miles wide, the dielectric constant or electrical property increased along with crater size. However, the electrical property remained constant for craters between three to 12 miles wide.

The directive classifies outer space as a "legally and physically unique domain of human activity" instead of a "global commons," paving the way for mining the moon without any sort of international treaty.

[CBS46] -- In less than seven hours, 23 people were shot in and around metro Atlanta overnight Saturday into Sunday. Three people died, with one of those shootings taking the life of an 8-year-old girl.
The first shooting call came into Atlanta Police around 9:50 p.m. when officers went to the area of University Avenue and I-75 where the 8-year-old girl was shot. It happened near the same location as the deadly shooting of Rayshard Brooks by Atlanta Police in June.
A short-time later around 11:30 p.m, shots rang out on the 1500 block of Hardee Street in Northeast Atlanta. Officers arrived and found a man and woman had both been shot, but neither wanted to talk to police about the shooting. Police said the shooting appeared to be caused when the victims confronted a group of people shooting fireworks outside their home. At some point, shots were fired and hit both victims. Both were taken to Grady Hospital.
Around 15 minutes later, APD was on the way to another shooting, this one on the 1600 block of Lakewood Avenue in Southeast Atlanta. Officers said the preliminary investigation found a group of people were standing around when someone drove by and fired multiple times at the group. A total of five people were shot and taken to local hospitals.
Around 12:50 a.m., Atlanta police made their way to the next shooting, this one on the 400 block of Edgewood Avenue in Southeast Atlanta. Police said the investigation showed the shooting victim had confronted another man who was talking to his girlfriend. A fight broke out and during the fight police said several people tried to pull the gun from the shooter and it went off hitting the victim in the arm. He was also taken to Grady Hospital reportedly in stable condition.
Not 10 minutes later, Atlanta police in the northeast part of the city were on their way to a mass shooting on the 200 block of Auburn Avenue. Police said a car hit a person and a fight broke out. A total of 14 people were shot during the melee. Two of those victims were listed in critical condition, but later died. The other 12 were said to be in stable condition.
The carnage finally stopped near 4 a.m. when officers went to Atlanta Medical Center South to talk to a shooting victim. Police said the victim was shot in the leg near the intersection of Etheridge Drive and 7th Street in Northeast Atlanta, but the victim isn't cooperating with investigators.
Also overnight Sunday, vandals targeted the Georgia Department of Public Safety's headquarters building. Multiple windows were smashed, a vehicle was damaged, the walls were spray painted, and a small fire broke out in the building.

Chicago and Atlanta are in a headlong race to BLM nationhood. Chicago has a significant head start and commanding lead.
Taken back by the police and local governance, or the Feds? Not likely, it's now too far gone. The participants were long ago exempted from civilized conduct and the Rule of Law. [ToloNews] Afghan and Indian officials signed five memoranda of understanding (MOUs) at a ceremony in Kabul on Sunday for the development of educational infrastructure in four Afghan provinces namely Nuristan, Farah, Badakhshan and Kapisa.
The MOUs, worth $2.6 million, will go towards the $200 million pledge by the Indian government made in 2005.
"One of the reasons for the start of the fourth phase was the closure of the first and second phase. These phases were awaiting the new government and now the new government has started its work," said Mustafa Mastoor, the minister of economy.
The High Impact Community Development Projects started 15 years ago, and, so far, 587 projects have been implemented in different provinces.
The projects signed on Sunday include the construction of classrooms, the construction of a higher education building and the construction of a road within the Alberoni University compound in Parwan province, north of Kabul, according to a statement by India’s embassy in Kabul.
"Today, we also started two other projects in two provinces worth $1.7 million," said Abdul Tawab Balakzarzai, the acting minister of higher education. "One of them is the construction of a building for higher education and another is the construction of roads within the Alberoni University compound that has 2.7 kilometers length."
"These projects that we do contribute to the local economy and human and physical capacity building at multiple levels. We of course remain committed to continue this development cooperation that we have," Indian Ambassador in Kabul, Vinay Kumar, said.
India has provided at least $3 billion in aid to Afghanistan.

The agency quoted a "source in the army who preferred not to be named," saying that base "was bombed by unidentified warplanes yesterday," after hearing its flight in the mountainous areas surrounding the base.
The Anadolu source pointed out that there were no casualties due to the bombing, and that the raids targeted "some of the facilities of the base, which were recently brought in to strengthen the base, including an air defense system."

The airstrike on the al-Watiyah Airbase came at the same time that the Ottoman Turkish Minister of Defense, Hulusi Akar, made an unannounced visit to Libya.

[KOMONEWS] A 94-year-old stone monument to Confederate veterans of the Civil War has been toppled in Seattle's Lake View Cemetery.
The once-towering monument, known as the United Confederate Veterans Memorial, was erected by the United Daughters of the Confederacy in 1926. It is made of granite from Georgia's Stone Mountain.
It wasn't immediately known who toppled the memorial, but it has been the target of Black Lives Matter protesters since the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis sparked efforts around the country to destroy statues and monuments to Confederate leaders or causes.
Even before Floyd's murder, the monument was controversial. It has been vandalized repeatedly in recent years and a petition to have it removed was started in 2015.
In 2018, several parts of the monument were smashed, including part of its inscription, insignia, and a relief of Robert E. Lee.
Some Seattle city officials have also called for the monument to be removed, but the cemetery is privately owned and the city has no jurisdiction over it.

Many, many years ago, when Norodom Sihanouk was in power and the North Vietnamese were running a freeway of sorts into South Vietnam, the route went through Cambodia into Tay Ninh province. Cambodia was neutral in the war, but didn't have the military strength to enforce its borders. They used to send a single guy on a motorcycle to meet the North Viet supply columns to tell them they couldn't enter, as that was Cambode territory. Sometimes it actually worked.

One rocket 🚀 landed inside of #Baghdad Airport close to the area that hosts US/#Coalition diplomats/military. Recent attacks have been mainly limited to one or two rockets and it looks like they are fired to harass but it always takes only ONE rocket to cross "the redlines".
One rocket fired at the Green Zone landed near a home, wounding a child, according to the Iraqi military.
"At the same time, our forces were able to thwart another attack and seize a Katyusha rocket and launcher that were targeting the Taji base north of Baghdad," where US-led coalition troops are based, it added.
The attempts came just hours after the US embassy tested a new rocket defense system known as a C-RAM, according to a senior Iraqi security source. The C-RAM, set up earlier this year at the embassy, scans for incoming projectiles and explodes them in the air by targeting them with several thousand bullets per minute.
‘“When the rockets bullets go up, who cares where they come down? That's not my department,” says Wernher von Braun.’
A series of muted blasts could be heard across Baghdad on Saturday as the system was apparently tested, leaving passersby confused and Iraq's parliament outraged. Deputy speaker Hassan al-Kaabi slammed the trial as "provocative" and "unacceptable" as it could put residential areas in danger.
There was no immediate comment from the embassy on whether the system was used against the rocket overnight.
The rocket was launched from the Ali Al-Saleh area of Baghdad and landed next to a house close to a local TV channel late Saturday, the military statement says.

Video footage posted to social media shows people at what appears to be a rap concert inside the Lavish Lounge club in Greenville early on Sunday morning.
The clip shows people inside the club hurrying toward the exit before the screen goes blank and gunshots are heard in the background.
Two Greenville County sheriff's deputies noticed a disturbance at Lavish Lounge just before 2am, and saw a large crowd running out of the building, Sheriff Hobart Lewis said at a presser.
Lewis told Greenville News the incident was 'probably gang related.' He said authorities are searching for two suspects, though no physical description of the button men has been released as of Sunday morning.

I watched a splendid documentary by historian Lucy Worsly last evening on the French revolution, or series of French revolutions during the reign of Louis XVI. Probably a blinding flash of the obvious, but many of today's lawless upheavals closely parallel those found throughout history.

Gavin Newsom’s PlumpJack Group were not affected by this shutdown order — giving his company an unfair advantage over others on a busy holiday weekend.
Today PlumpJack Winery representatives are calling people who had tasting room reservations for the 4th of July weekend to inform them that "due to logistical issues" they’ll be closed through Monday. RedState has obtained a voicemail delivered to one potential customer. The representative said:
"I am just calling to let you know that I see your reservation for this coming Monday, July 6, for PlumpJack Winery. I am calling to let you know that we — due to logistical issues we will actually be closed this coming weekend into Monday, and I will be canceling your reservation.
We are happy to transfer you to Odette Estate Winery if you would like a reservation at that time, at 12:00, but for now I will be canceling the reservation. So if you would like to transfer it to Odette Estate Winery at 12:00 PM for two people on Monday, July 6, please let me know...."
So apparently while PlumpJack, the flagship winery, will be closed, at least one other Newsom-owned property will be open — at least for now.

[ToloNews] The Afghan government on Sunday revealed one of the main reasons behind the delay in the intra-Afghan negotiations, saying it is not releasing 597 prisoners of the 5,000 inmates that were to be freed as part of the confidence-building measures established in the US-Taliban ...Arabic for students... agreement signed in late February.
These individuals are accused of "crimes and moral issues" and are on a list that was given to the government by the Taliban, said Ahmad Rashid Totakhil, head of the prisoners’ release affairs.
"'Murderers’ are on the Taliban list and the government has resisted. It is a (victims’) rights issue and the law does not allow to release someone under the pretext of being a Taliban member, who is charged with murder or even moral crimes like rape," Totakhil said.
The Taliban rejected this and said the list includes names of members of the group who have been arrested on charges of being a Taliban member.
The prisoners’ affairs department did not reject the possibility that there are some key and "dangerous" members of the Taliban among those freed so far.
"Based on the political agreement, the condition is to release 5,000 prisoners and it has not specified who should be released. For the Taliban, it should be only important that their inmates are released, not specific people," said Abdullah Qarloq, the deputy head of the National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan.
Rights organizations say the issue of war crimes and people’s rights should be considered when it comes to the release of Taliban prisoners.
"There are some concerns about the recognition of prisoners. We call on the Taliban, the Afghan government and the US to respond so that people are assured," said Zabihullah Farhang, head of media office of Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission.
According to the Afghan government, so far, 4,015 Taliban prisoners have been released and that the process will continue this week.
