Shots Fired Into the Air After Portland Protesters Surround Car 'Driving Erratically'
[MSN] Shots were fired into the air from a car in Portland, Oregon, in the early hours of July 9 as the vehicle drove away from a group of protesters who had surrounded it. This video, recorded by Portland Independent Documentarians, shows the shots being fired out the driver’s side window of a white Kia as it drives away from protesters near the Justice Center. The source of the video said the vehicle was "driving erratically before accelerating into protesters". Another witness said the car "tried to swerve into the street towards people multiple times." Portland police had yet to comment on the incident.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
How have Iran's intelligence forces broken down in face of explosions?
[JPost] - Iran is facing a total intelligence breakdown.

With another explosion on Thursday night, reportedly at an Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps facility, the question is not only how anyone has pulled up to seven attacks off in around two weeks, but how has the Islamic Republic repeatedly failed to stop them.

From 2010-2013, the regime succeeded in cracking a CIA cell and eliminated many CIA operatives.

Even when the US and Israel, according to foreign reports, breached Iran's security for its nuclear program with the Stuxnet virus in 2009-2010, they had to use assets of Dutch intelligence.

In general, Iranian counterintelligence is known as performing at a much higher level than most Israeli adversaries. Sometimes they falsely announce arrests of Mossad agents who are just political opposition members, but sometimes they can flush out spies at a professional level closer to the world's top powers.

Until Israel's January 2018 operation seizing Iran's nuclear secrets, Iranian territory was thought of as much harder to penetrate than Syrian territory, where Israel has admitted to thousands of intelligence and airstrike operations.

In the days of Meir Dagan, a score of attacks on Iranian nuclear scientists were attributed to the Mossad.

But much of that was over a decade ago and many of the scientists were killed alone and outside their facilities — presumably, easier targets than penetrating and exploding whole facilities like a set of dominoes.

What the world is witnessing right now is someone (the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, possibly with Iranian dissident proxy help) hitting Iranian nuclear and conventional weapons and IRGC facilities practically at will. And they are doing it in a way that has virtually never been witnessed in recent memory.

...However, what we appear to be witnessing are the limits of a second-tier counterintelligence force. Up against a premier intelligence or cyber power, Iran is apparently near defenseless.

The questions remaining then are how long these attacks can continue and whether Iran can cope with them or may make some sort of secret contact to cut a deal to get them stopped.

If it does not, the message from whoever is making this happen is clear: continued aggressive actions on nuclear and other fronts will lead to consequences that the ayatollahs had never imagined.

#5  Iran recently signed a very strange deal with the PRC. It allows the PRC to station troops anywhere it wants in Iran at anytime for any purpose.
In addition it allows ChiCom business to set up an run businesses anywhere in Iran without supervision or normal controls.
This sort of deal almost requires a monster to exist in the first place. Every time one sees a deal like this there is always the chance that those the deal benefits (China) are the actual monster. Iran may have been rickrolled by China.

#7  Once an intel org misses a certain number of Big Events, for whatever reason, it starts to look inward--more than its usual caution--and that reduces efficiency. Fewer people are willing to work with an operative if the previous guy got burned over a slow fire on account of suspicion..... Good agents, or mediocre ones for that matter, can be investigated for normal activities not sufficiently recorded. Who leaked Soleimani? Maybe nobody. Maybe it was strictly sigint. But you can't be sure so it has to be investigated and everything slows down . And bosses need scapegoats to CYA.
And the it's Howdy Doody time. See the CIA.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
John Durham May ‘Punt' On Obama-Gate Investigation Until After the Election
[Red State] For the sake of the Republican party, this better not be true, though there’s reason to believe it might be. We’ll do a little reading between the lines in a second.

A new report from Fox News is claiming that John Durham may be looking to "punt" the end of his investigation beyond the November election.
Two sources familiar with Durham’s investigation told Fox News this week that Durham is working expeditiously to try to finish the probe by the end of summer, but that several lines of investigation are not yet complete.

"He believes it’s critical to do them," one source said. "He is feeling more pressure to get this done and wrapped up."

The source also told Fox News that Durham "does not want this to be viewed political," and the closer it gets to November, Durham could "punt it to after the election."
On its face, this doesn’t seem very definitive to me. But I have worried that the DOJ may move to not release their findings in order to not "interfere" with the election. While that may seem ludicrous to those of us that have watched this unfold for years, don’t underestimate the pressure of bureaucratic decorum. Durham is not a partisan, he’s a careerist, and if he feels his work may be overly politicized, he may seek to protect it.

Julie Kelly, who’s been focused on this issue like a laser beam, responded this morning and appears to believe there’s some truth to it.

AG Barr reported on Fox yesterday that he "didn't know precisely where Durham was with the investigation, was not aware of a timeline, hadn't spoken to Durham lately, hadn't been following it" etc. (paraphrasing) A strange admission of lack of knowledge from a man alleged to be 'a brilliant legal mind' and top DoJ official. His statement was not exactly reassuring to say the least. Strange, very strange.

While I admit to being more than normally gullible, my first thought when I see unnamed, anonymous sources is whether this really comes from the inner circle or if this is Deep Staters making stuff up to cause trouble. Texas, Florida Set New Daily Records For COVID Deaths
[HotAir] - I don’t know that there’s much to add to this morning’s post except to confirm that, yes, the long-feared rise in daily deaths in hot-spot states seems to be upon us. Texas recorded 98 deaths yesterday, a new record, and topped it today with 105. Total hospitalizations in the state also set a new record and are approaching 10,000.

...The big news is Florida, though. They were an exception to the trio of states I wrote about earlier, as they hadn’t broken any records in terms of deaths in the past 48 hours. They have now.

Democrats' winning tactic - make the party of stupid live up to its name.

#2  Texas border counties hospitalization rate is 5 times the national average
It’s not natural that counties sitting at the border would mysteriously get hit with a strain of the virus causing so much more hospitalization than anywhere else. What this clearly demonstrates is a case drain flowing from across the border, where the most seriously ill patients are crossing over for care.We are finding this dynamic across the border. Imperial County is one of California’s least densely populated counties, yet at 40.1 hospitalizations per 100,000 residents, it had the highest rate of coronavirus hospitalizations in the state. That is more than twice the rate of Los Angeles County, which is the largest county in the country and is 57 times more populous and 69 times more densely populated than Imperial County.

China-Japan-Koreas
Allies should ‘merge' military and police intelligence to counter China: Pentagon
[Washington Examiner] American and European allies need to "merge" the intelligence gathered by national security and law enforcement officials in order to fend off nontraditional threats from China and Russia, according to a senior Pentagon official.

"Most of what our competitors and adversaries are doing in Europe to undermine our resilience and undermine our political cohesion is in the law enforcement realm," Michael Ryan, one of the Defense Department’s top officials for European and NATO policy, told the European Union Defense Washington Forum. "We need to find a way to merge that military intelligence and law enforcement intelligence, so that working between NATO and the EU, we get all of our tools moving in the right direction to deal with those efforts."

Ryan’s solution, in the broadest terms, involves enhanced "intelligence-sharing" not only between allied governments but between traditional national security entities and law enforcement agencies empowered to work within a country. His comments underscore the U.S. perception that China and Russia are targeting Western allies through nonmilitary means.

"A huge amount of these challenges are coming in private sector entities or civil society," said Center for Strategic and International Studies Senior Vice President Kathleen Hicks, building on Ryan’s suggestion.

Their suspicions dovetail with a statement from the 2017 White House National Security Strategy, which warned that Western "adversaries exploit our free and democratic system to harm the United States." Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has been making that case to European allies, particularly in light of China’s push for a Beijing-backed telecommunications giant to win the contracts to build the 5G next-generation wireless technology infrastructure in leading European and developing countries.

"We must take off the golden blinders of economic ties and see that the China challenge isn’t just at the gates; it’s in every capital, it’s in every borough, it’s in every province," Pompeo told European officials and analysts last month.

Man ‘deliberately slams truck into motorcyclist killing Marine vet' because he was ‘targeting a white person'
A MAN was arrested last week after he allegedly slammed his truck into a motorcycle, killing a Marine veteran because he was "targeting a white person."

Daniel Navarro, 27, is accused of swerving a 2004 Dodge Dakota pickup truck without braking into a motorcyclist on July 3 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, according to police.

The motorcyclist, Phillip Thiessen, died from the crash, authorities said during a news conference on Thursday, according to Fox News.

Thiessen, 55, was a Marine veteran and former Virginia police officer who had retired from the Wisconsin Department of Justice where he investigated crimes against children.

Afghanistan
Taliban react to photos of Afghan forces published by KIB’s Syrian wing
[KhaamaPress] The Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
group reacted to photos which the Syrian Wing of Katibat Imam al-Bukhari (KIB), an Uzbek Jihadist group loyal to Taliban, recently published.

Zabiullah Mujahid, a spokesperson for the Taliban group, blamed the anti-peace circles for propagating by publishing such photos.

"These images have been stolen from our archive & falsified by anti-peace circles for propaganda!!!" he said in a Twitter post.

Yesterday, FDD’s Long War Journal reported on new images released by the Afghanistan branch of Katibat Imam al-Bukhari (KIB), an Uzbek jihadist group loyal to the Taliban that fights under its banner, according to Long War Journal.

According to the Tabloid, the photos in question were originally posted on Telegram by the overall emir of KIB’s Syrian wing, Abu Yusuf al-Muhajir. KIB’s channels are routinely banned on the platform. But Muhajir’s channel is relatively stable and he has taken on the task of publishing the group’s media from both Syria and Afghanistan.

Tolo News has more:
Uzbek Militant Group Claims it Conducted Operation with Taliban

An Uzbek Death Eater group, Khatiba Imam al-Bukhari (KIB), with the release of two pictures has claimed that in a joint operation with the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
they captured several members of a public uprising force somewhere in Afghanistan.

Although the group has not said anything about the date and the location of the joint operation, the Long War Journal website has said that the KIB affiliates are operating in Afghanistan’s Jawzjan and Faryab provinces.
Good to know.
"Earlier today, the Uzbek jihadist group, Khatiba Imam al-Bukhari (KIB), released two photos from its Afghanistan branch. The photos detail the capture of several pro-government Afghan Lions of Islam after a claimed joint attack with Taliban soldiers," the website wrote on Wednesday.

"Since 2016, KIB has sporadically released propaganda from its Afghanistan wing. That year, the group released two videos from the northern part of the country depicting training camps for both general indoctrination and lessons on the manufacturing of IED’s, along with combat footage," the website said.

In 2018, the United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
Security Council also confirmed the presence of the group in Afghanistan. But the Taliban has always denied any link with the group.
“Wudn’t us.”
"Khatiba Imam al-Bukhari (KIB) was established in 2011 in the Afghanistan/Pakistain border area by fighters who had split from the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (QDe.010).
Splitters!
Since March 2015, the group has been actively collaborating with Jabhat al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli al-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
h, listed as al-Nusrah Front for the People of the Levant and its successor gangs," the UNSC said in a statement in 2018.

"KIB leaders view Afghanistan as a new staging ground to project attacks against neighboring Central Asia countries. Since 2016, KIB fighters have been redeployed from the Syrian Arab Republic to the north of Afghanistan with a view to setting up training camps and organizing special terrorist training for new recruits," according to the UN.

"The ongoing festivities which are going on today in Qaisar, Qaramqol, Garezwan and Shereen Tagab--the same people (KIB) are leading these wars," said Naqibullah Fayeq, the governor of Faryab province.

According to the UN, KIB commands up to 500 foreign terrorist fighters, most of them are nationals of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and the Russian Federation, including Russian nationals originating from the North Caucasus region. KIB conducted recruitment mainly among nationals of Uzbekistan, including through social networks.

"The foreigners who operate in Badakhshan alongside the Taliban--they are the backbone of the Taliban’s war and they have come here from China, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan," said Abdullah Naji Nazari, a member of Badakhshan's provincial council.

"There are thirteen active terrorist groups among them Jaish-e-Mohammad
...literally Army of Mohammad, a Pak-based Deobandi terror group founded by Maulana Masood Azhar in 2000, after he split with the Harkat-ul-Mujaheddin. In 2002 the government of Pervez Musharraf banned the group, which changed its name to Khaddam ul-Islam and continued doing what it had been doing before without missing a beat...
and Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
," said Gul Mohammad Bedar, the deputy governor of Kunar province
... which is right down the road from Chitral. Kunar is Haqqani country.....
This comes few days after local officials in the eastern province of Kunar also said that foreign Death Eaters, among them members of Pakistain-based Lashkar-e-Taiba Death Eaters, are operating in the province.

Based on the US-Taliban peace agreement which was signed in Doha, the Taliban committed to cut ties with all foreign Death Eater groups including Al Qaeda.
And we are all so shocked that they lied.

Related: The Long War Journal report quoted above. Lots of links at the link to explore. I discovered that Jawzjan and Faryab provinces have large ethnic Uzbek populations.

[KhaamaPress] A jacket wallah detonated a vehicle packed with explosives close to a security check post in central Maidan Wardak province of Afghanistan.

According to local officials, the incident took place earlier today in Sayedabad district of Wardak province.

Vandals Hack Down 9/11 Memorial Flagpole In New York Village
[DAILYWIRE] Vandals have cut down a flagpole at a memorial in a village outside of New York City that honored five local firefighters who died in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The vandalism in Washingtonville was discovered early Wednesday, according to the Times-Herald Record. Police have launched an investigation.

Washingtonville Police Chief Brian Zaccaro told the newspaper that vandals cut the flagpole about four or five feet from its base, toppling it. They also wrote a message on the part left standing. Police would not release what the message said, but stated that an eagle figure that sat atop the flagpole was found next to a vandalized sign at the St. Mary’s Gay Pareeh Center about a half-mile away.

"These two locations mean so much to Washingtonville and the larger community," said New York State Assemblyman Colin Schmitt, whose district includes the area, the Record reported.

Entire Israeli military unit in quarantine amid suspicion of coronavirus outbreak
[AlMasdar] Hundreds of Israeli soldiers were quarantined on Wednesday, on suspicion of having been in contact with a soldier who was infected with the coronavirus.

The Israel Today newspaper said on its website that all the soldiers of the Nahshon unit were quarantined at an army base in the occupied Golan Heights.

They pointed out that some of the soldiers participated in a party in which a soldier was infected with the coronavirus, which led to their quarantine, but after examining them, it became clear that some of others were also infected.

Israel Today quoted a senior official in the battalion, whose name has not been released, as saying “that the entire battalion was placed in quarantine.”

No further details were released regarding this quarantine.
That’ll teach them to engage in risky behaviours. Here’s hoping only a few actually fall ill and, of those, none badly.

(c) Right now Texas has 125000 active cases. Given 5% percent mortality (for active cases) that works to 6250 deaths. And since infection rate increases, 6250 is just a start.
Now Florida is really f*cked because with current 200000 active cases and death rate of 11.5% it'll have 23000 deaths if no single additional person gets sick!.

This shouldn't be a political issue of right vs left. The virus is real, and a true SOB. We still know very little about it but it's serious and will continue to do harm.

It's not even guaranteed that people who went through it develop a lasting immunity. And the virus seems to be able to attack many vital organs and leave permanent damage.

Don't take this lightly.

Advisor's killing deepens Iraqi leader's face-off with militias
[THEBAGHDADPOST] Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi talked tough after the killing of a high-profile analyst and government advisor, pledging to hunt down his assailants and curb the actions of gangs. But the face-off between the U.S.-friendly Iraqi leader and powerful Iran-backed militias whom his entourage privately blames for Monday’s murder of Hisham al-Hashemi indicates how difficult this will be.

A series of bold moves by Kadhimi in his first two months in office, including two unsuccessful arrest raids against militias, showed the limits of his power in the face of hostile groups with influence across state institutions, according to government officials, politicians and diplomats.

Kadhimi in May succeeded Adel Abdul Mahdi, during whose tenure Iraqi militias loyal to Iran’s theocratic government deepened their sway over Iraq’s politics and economy.

Top general slams Confederacy as 'an act of treason' and says the country needs to take 'hard look' at bases honoring its leaders
[Bus Insider] The top US military officer called the Confederacy "an act of rebellion," one that violated the Constitution and went "against the Stars and Stripes," as he addressed the topic of bases and statues named after Confederate leaders.

US Army Gen. Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, discussed Thursday the possibility of renaming the 10 US Army bases named after Confederate leaders, such as Fort Pickett and Fort Hood. He appeared to express support for renaming the bases but said any plan for change would require the utmost care to prevent political consequences.

"We've also got to take a hard look at the symbology, the symbols, things like the Confederate flags and statues and bases," Milley said during a House Armed Service Committee hearing, adding that he ordered a commission for the military to explore the possibility.

Milley estimated minorities make up 43% of the US military and that at least 20% of soldiers in the Army are African American.

"For those young soldiers that go on to a base, Fort Hood or Fort Bragg or wherever, named after a Confederate general, they can be reminded that that general fought for an institution of slavery that may have enslaved one of their ancestors," Milley said.

He said that when he was a young officer at Fort Bragg, he had a staff sergeant tell him "he went to work every day at a base that represented a guy who enslaved his grandparents."

Milley called the Confederacy "an act of rebellion," adding it "was an act of treason at the time against the Union, against the Stars and Stripes, against the US Constitution."

They were not traitors because they did not advocate for the overthrow of the United States Government nor did they conspire with a foreign entity to do so. Imprisoned for two years at Fort Monroe, Virginia, Davis was indicted for treason, but was never tried–the federal government feared that Davis would be able prove to a jury that the Southern secession of 1860 to 1861 was legal. Varina worked determinedly to secure his freedom, and in May 1867 Jefferson Davis was released on bail.

According to experts, it is likely that the [Libyan] plane arrived in Caracas to transport gold from Venezuela, where the gold that is banned due to sanctions is transported and melted in Mali, Africa, and then reconfigured and resold.
Data from air navigation sites also showed that the same plane made a previous visit to Caracas on April 24th, and it is manufactured by "Sonnig International Private Jet", a secret company based in Fujairah in the UAE based. According to press reports, in recent years this company has turned into one of Haftar's arms suppliers in the eastern Libyan region.

US Army investigating how 'MAGA' was described as a form of 'covert white supremacy' in handout
The US Army is investigating how a handout distributed on a base in Alabama initially included a description that the phrase "Make America Great Again" was a form of "covert white supremacy" and therefore racist -- which it says was "sent out in error and immediately recalled."

Earlier this week, a graphic was included in a handout disseminated at the US Army's Redstone Arsenal that suggested that President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign slogan was a form of "covert white supremacy."

On July 6 at Redstone, officials distributed a handout to personnel that "included two unapproved pages that were sent out in error and immediately recalled," Army spokeswoman Cynthia Smith said in a statement.

The slides were to promote the Army's so-called listening tour under a program it calls Project Inclusion, a new initiative to improve diversity and racial inclusion across the military.
If you go on a "listening tour" and you're the one who does the talking, shouldn't it be called a "lecturing tour?"
The graphic shown on one of the slides includes a pyramid graphic sourced from Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence that states blackface, swastikas and racist jokes are forms of "overt white supremacy." The graphic includes "MAGA," the "celebration of Columbus Day" and "All Lives Matter" as types of socially acceptable or "covert white supremacy."

"The slides -- copied from a non-government website -- included a word cloud with phrases that were intended to spark conversation; however, the document was predecisional and inappropriate for the discussion. The unapproved pages were in no way used as part of the 'Your Voice Matters' listening tour sessions," Smith said.

The Army did not specifically mention the MAGA phrase in its statement, long used by Trump and his supporters, only saying "the Army does not condone the use of phrases that indicate political support."

"The Army is and will continue to remain an apolitical organization," Smith said.

Republican Rep. Mo Brooks of Alabama sent a letter to Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy on Wednesday, accusing the service of violating the Hatch Act, which bars federal employees from certain partisan political activities, and demanded an investigation into the matter.

"Including overtly political materials in the invitation for such an event is completely inappropriate and, in this instance and in my view, illegal," Brooks to wrote McCarthy. "Further, the inclusion of such materials serves only to ostracize segments of the workforce and create racial division, rather than minimize it."

In a statement, the Alabama Republican called for all Army personnel who "drafted, approved or sent this racist and politically partisan email, using government resources" to be prosecuted and fired for "blatantly and illegally injecting themselves into partisan political activities on government time using federal taxpayer money."

All of this comes as Defense Secretary Mark Esper and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Mark Milley are set to testify before the House Armed Services Committee on Wednesday, where they are likely to face questions over the role of the military during last month's nationwide protests over the death of George Floyd.

Adult in the Room: Ford CEO Responds to Employees' Demands to Stop Making Police Vehicles
Jalopnik reports that a group of Ford Motor Company employees want the auto giant to stop making vehicles for police.

Ford employees have asked the automaker to stop building police cars, according to a Jalopnik report published Wednesday. The request comes as countless Black Lives Matter protests continue throughout America and around the globe, sparked by the killing of George Floyd.

Jalopnik fails to report that since the protests devolved into riots and “defund the police” swept across the nation, violent crime and murder have surged in several major cities, including New York, Chicago, Baltimore, and Seattle.

Pelosi on Christopher Columbus statue destruction: 'People will do what they do'
[Fox] House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Thursday declined to admonish protesters in her native city of Baltimore who pulled down a statue of Christopher Columbus and then tossed the monument into the city’s Inner Harbor.

"People will do what they do," Pelosi, D-Calif., said at a news conference Thursday at the Capitol.
Somehow that doesn't often include voting hereditary politicians out of office.
Baltimore Mayor Bernard C. "Jack" Young, however, had harsh words for the protesters who destroyed the statue near Little Italy over the Fourth of July, saying he wouldn't tolerate the destruction of property. Young said the toppling was unacceptable and the perpetrators, if identified, "will be brought to justice," the Baltimore Sun reported.

Pelosi, an Italian American, was born and raised in Baltimore. Her father, Thomas D'Alesandro Jr., was mayor of Baltimore from 1947 to 1959 and her brother Thomas D'Alesandro III also led the city from 1967 to 1971.

Pelosi said "it's up to the communities to decide what statues they want to see" and taking down the Columbus monument "doesn't diminish my pride in my Italian American heritage."

But asked whether a commission should decide what statues go rather than a mob of protesters, Pelosi said people will do what they do.

"I do think that from a safety standpoint it would be a good idea to have it taken down if the community doesn't want it," Pelosi said of a more organized process to remove statues. "I don't know that has to be a commission but it could be a community view."

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., pounced on Pelosi's comments as another example of Democrats defending the "radical left-wing mob."

"Her job is to write laws. Instead, she encourages mobs to break them. She is complicit with criminal activity, plain and simple," McCarthy said.

Pelosi has spearheaded an effort to remove Confederate statues from the Capitol but has drawn a distinction between targeting those who committed treason against the United States and past presidents who owned enslaved people.

Pelosi said Thursday she's most concerned about looking forward and she's not wedded to physical monuments and tokens of the past. "I don't even have my grandmother's earrings," Pelosi said.

Former President Ronald Reagan helped unveil the Columbus statue in Baltimore in 1984. Rioters Saturday night pulled down the monument and then tossed it into the city's Inner Harbor.

The statue had stood at the entrance to the city's Little Italy neighborhood for 36 years, FOX 45 of Baltimore reported....

...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
pandemic. In addition to most consumer goods and electronics, China reportedly manufactures "more than 90% of U.S. antibiotics, vitamin C, ibuprofen and hydrocortisone, as well as 70% of acetaminophen," among other crucial drugs imported by the U.S.Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) has become one of the most vocal critics of the Chinese Communist Party and has urged a boycott of goods made in China. "We have to pass a law: Stop buying anything from Communist China," Scott said in a recent interview. "Nothing. Don’t buy any products from them."

However,
facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable...
a boycott of goods made in China would do little to address growing Chinese influence over American interests achieved via investments, mergers, and acquisitions. Between 2002 and 2016, Chinese state-owned or state-linked companies acquired more than $120 billion worth of assets in 40 states across the U.S. Just 15 Chinese entities (sovereign wealth funds, state-owned corporations, or state-linked private sector firms) accounted for 60% of this activity. In 2016 alone, more than 50 of these Chinese acquisitions exceeded $50 million. Several Chinese takeover deals exceeded $1 billion.

Gen Milley says US & military are struggling with racism & have much more to do
[PUBLISH.TWITTER] I went to my first (and mandatory) Army "Race Relations" class in Berlin in 1974 or '75. They told us we were all racists. I stopped listening about that time. I don't think they've said anything much different since. That "discussion on race" stuff doesn't involve an exchange of opinions.
I strongly recommend promotion board minority quotas along with an effort to increase the number of sergeant majors of color. Doing away with MOS tests and mandatory weigh-in should also be considered. Lastly, prior felony convictions should not preclude one from enlisting. [sarc off]

Qatar Hired Former CIA Agents to Hack Prominent GOP Official, Lawsuit Alleges
[Wash. Free Beacon] U.S.-based hackers allegedly took part in operations against Elliott Broidy and other critics of Qatar

Qatar hired a team of former CIA and U.S. military intelligence officials to conduct a hack attack on a prominent American political activist after he raised questions about the country's support for terrorism, according to allegations in a new lawsuit.

Republican financier Elliott Broidy alleges that Qatar enlisted former U.S. intelligence officials to carry out a 2018 cyber espionage operation on his personal and business email servers. That information, Broidy alleges, was later leaked to the media in order to discredit the longtime GOP activist and advance Doha's interests in America.

The suit reveals allegations that U.S.-based hackers affiliated with the Global Risk Advisors (GRA) consulting group were paid by Qatar to carry out the illicit scheme and similar attacks on prominent critics of Qatar. GRA, an American cyber security consulting group, is composed of former CIA and other military intelligence officials with extensive experience in the cyber espionage realm.

GRA "conspired with [American] public-relations strategists to steal Mr. Broidy's confidential materials and plant carefully curated excerpts and manipulated materials with the press to cause Plaintiffs maximum damage," the lawsuit alleges. "GRA was perfectly suited for this work because it employs former National Security Agency, Central Intelligence Agency, and U.S. Armed Forces personnel with extensive offensive hacking expertise."

The filing marks another salvo in a long-running legal dispute between Broidy and Qatar, which is accused of orchestrating multiple hack attacks on its most prominent U.S. and European critics. In addition to the quarrel with Broidy, Qatar is believed to be behind a series of similar cyber attacks on prominent GOP and Jewish community activists who have pressured the Trump administration to cut ties with Doha. Broidy previously sued several U.S. public-relations companies he accuses of helping Qatar distribute his stolen information.

Qatar has long been suspected of financing the hack on Broidy and other leading critics of Doha's terror financing network, which includes support for Hamas and other Iranian-backed militia groups. In addition to targeting perceived critics, Qatar allegedly spied on prominent Jewish community members in Washington, D.C., to collect information about their anti-Doha lobbying efforts. Congress is investigating the country over these claims.

The information leaked about Broidy has elicited allegations that he was working as a covert lobbyist for the United Arab Emirates, one of Qatar's top regional opponents. At least a portion of the leaked information, including details of his business dealings, has been discredited.

Broidy is seeking a trial by jury to determine if GRA and several other U.S. consulting groups were complicit in Qatar's alleged conspiracy. Qatar is said to have hired the organization as part of a "criminal enterprise" to penetrate Broidy's online networks and collect confidential data.

GRA's employees "are the world-class hackers who, primarily from their U.S. locations and with U.S. citizen hackers, illegally broke into the email servers of Mr. Broidy, his wife, [and] his executive assistant," according to the lawsuit. "They then distributed the hacked materials in a secure manner to various media outlets, as directed by other members of the conspiracy, to inflict maximum damage on Mr. Broidy."

GRA is further accused of "hacking and covertly neutralizing" officials from the FIFA soccer league as part of Qatar's bid to host the 2022 World Cup. The U.S. Justice Department alleges that Qatar bribed and blackmailed scores of FIFA officials over a 10-year period to secure rights for the 2022 World Cup. GRA is alleged to have helped Qatar collect information on FIFA officials as part of an operation that eventually targeted Broidy for his public criticisms.

These hacking operations, including the one targeting Broidy, were conducted by a small group of highly specialized GRA employees who were engaged in "secretive, illegal conduct," the lawsuit alleges. The hacks were allegedly carried out from locations in the United States and Qatar.

An email sent to GRA requesting comment was not returned by press time.

The Grand Turk
Turkey Escalates Threats to Leave NATO
[Wash Examiner] A Turkish official raised the possibility of the country leaving NATO, according to a Tuesday Reuters report.

Citing an already tenuous relationship with fellow member states, Turkish ambassador to France Ismail Hakki Musa questioned NATO's capabilities absent Turkey's involvement. "Imagine NATO without Turkey," he said. "You would have no NATO."

Turkey has pivoted away from the alliance in recent months. The country recently bought fighter jets from Russia, strengthening its ties with the longtime NATO competitor. Meanwhile, it has cracked down on domestic dissent, imprisoning a group of journalists last year and recently loosening protections for Uighur refugees from China.

Turkey's behavior has grave implications for the transatlantic alliance, experts say. "The main problem for Europe is Russia. The ambivalence of Turkey, with one foot in each camp, is the troubling factor," former EU ambassador to Turkey Marc Pierini said in January. He added that many believe "Turkey is pivoting away from the values it once said it was sharing with the European Union and the transatlantic alliance."

Other Turkish officials have floated the possibility of "cracks" opening in NATO. "Turkish national-security interests must be regarded as one of the primary issues for the U.S. and NATO," warned Ahmet Berat Conkar‐the deputy head of Turkey's delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and party associate of Turkish premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan‐late last year. "If this cannot be openly guaranteed and maintained by concrete action for Turkey, new cracks may open inside the NATO alliance."

Musa's comments came as relations between France and Turkey have soured over a naval controversy. In June, a French ship under NATO command in the Eastern Mediterranean attempted to investigate a Tanzanian cargo ship suspected of arms trafficking. Turkey responded by dispatching three escort ships that flashed their radars and armed their crews to harass the French ship.

French president Emmanuel Macron has questioned Turkey's commitment to NATO. Late last year he said "it is not possible" for Turkey to continue as a NATO member if it follows through on its recent Russians arms acquisitions.

Supreme Court Rules 5-4 Significant Portion Of Oklahoma Is Indian Land
More on this story from yesterday.
[DAILYWIRE] The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 Thursday that a substantial portion of Oklahoma, roughly 19 million acres in total including Tulsa, officially still belongs to Native American tribes because Congress never officially declared that it no longer did.

"The federal government promised the Creek a reservation in perpetuity," Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote for the majority. "Over time, Congress has diminished that reservation. It has sometimes restricted and other times expanded the Tribe’s authority. But Congress has never withdrawn the promised reservation."

"As a result, many of the arguments before us today follow a sadly familiar pattern. Yes, promises were made, but the price of keeping them has become too great, so now we should just cast a blind eye. We reject that thinking. If Congress wishes to withdraw its promises, it must say so," reads the decision.

Gorsuch wrote that to rule "otherwise would be to elevate the most brazen and longstanding injustices over the law."

According to The New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

, the case was brought to the Supreme Court after Jimcy McGirt, a Native American man who was convicted of sex crimes against a child in state court, argued that his conviction should be overturned, and that he be tried in federal court instead, because he committed his alleged crimes on Indian land.
